WAYS TO LIVE SLOWER IN 2025
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2024 was such a blur for me, and I feel like I wasn’t really taking in the present moments as much as I should have. I don’t want to repeat the same thing in 2025, here’s a little few ways i’m implementing living slower in 2025.
SHOWER MEDITATIONS. Each time I’m in the shower, I just focus on rinsing, soap, rinsing then I get out. While its a small thing to consider, as someone who has a lot of thoughts especially during school mornings, it's a nice way to ground yourself.
If you’d like you can start off with a little prayer, thanking him for access to clean water and a bathroom. Let the water take all the struggles and stresses you have down the drain, use soap to renew yourself of yesterday for the new day and focus on how the water feels on your skin. Then, you can end it off with a prayer as well.
TAKE THE TIME TO BE IN THE SUN OR NATURE. Perhaps you can read a book, listen to a playlist or just soak that time spent in nature. It's completely up to you, but I wouldn’t do anything that's too distracting like studying or scrolling.
SAY THANK YOU, FOR NO ONE. Each time you get to sleep in your bed, say thank you. Each time you eat a meal, say thank you. Each time you get to have access to water, say thank you. There are a lot more opportunities to say thanks, but it just allows for daily appreciation of things that we do without thinking.
UNATTACH YOUR PHONE FROM TASKS. Certain tasks, you do not need your phone. For example, cooking. When you cook and perhaps you’re waiting for something to boil, wash some dishes instead of opening instagram. Sometimes it doesn’t even have to be a task, when you’re in a car, don’t look at your phone, look outside at the window and observe the people or the cars you see.
NO SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE MORNING OR EVENING. Social media is meant for quick consumption, but because it's so quick, we underestimate the time that we spend on it. Only 10 minutes can easily turn into an hour. I would avoid using it during these times because this is probably when we’re the most easily influenced by fads, products or misinformation.
REST IS A TASK. Take the time out of your day to rest, because you need it. It doesn’t have to be a singular session daily either, it can be regular small intervals throughout the day. Use this time to reflect on how you’ve spent your time earlier, then do whatever you consider to rejuvenates you.
LISTEN TO YOURSELF MORE. While the self improvement community does perpetuate the idea of ‘following the plan, not the mood’, (and i agree to an extent) but being miserable while trying to be productive is not ideal. If you’re sad, take the time to calm yourself down. You’re angry, then channel it into something high energy but not necessarily productive.
In a way, being able to recognize these feelings and acknowledge them is a skill that is developed overtime and will be useful.

15 Productivity Hacks 💻💭📝💡
Use the Pomodoro Method. Work in focused intervals (typically 25 minutes) followed by a short break. This helps you maintain high levels of focus and gives regular breaks to rest.
If a something takes less than two minutes, do it immediately.
Schedule specific blocks of time for specific activities. This helps in dedicating focus to one task at a time.
Group similar tasks together and tackle them in one go. For example, respond to all emails at once rather than sporadically throughout the day.
Contrary to popular belief, multitasking can reduce productivity. Focus on one task at a time for better efficiency.
Use apps and tools like Trello, Asana, or Notion to manage tasks and projects.
Use the Eisenhower Box or the ABCD method to categorize tasks based on their urgency and importance.
Keep your workspace tidy. A clean workspace can enhance focus and reduce distractions.
Even if one doesn’t exist, setting a deadline can create a sense of urgency.
Large tasks can be overwhelming. Break them into smaller steps to make them more manageable.
Aim for excellence, not perfection. Sometimes waiting for something to be perfect can lead to procrastination.
If someone else can do a task, delegate it. This allows you to focus on tasks that only you can do.
Working for long hours without a break can lead to burnout. Short, regular breaks can help maintain high levels of focus.
Use apps to play background music/noise that enhances concentration or block all notifications to prevent you from checking your phone.
At the end of the week, review what you’ve accomplished and what needs to be adjusted for the coming days.

dealing with study burnout
it’s that moment when the textbooks, notes, and exams start to feel overwhelming. what can you do to avoid study burnout?
Tumblr media
take regular breaks -> follow the pomodoro technique or take short breaks every 45-60 minutes.
set realistic goals -> break your study sessions into smaller, manageable tasks.
instead of cramming an entire chapter in one sitting, focus on mastering one section at a time.
mix up your study routine -> alternate between reading, writing, watching videos, or using flashcards.
practice self-care -> get enough sleep, stay hydrated (~72 oz), and eat nourishing foods. incorporate exercise, whether it's a quick walk, or a gym session.
know when to step back -> taking a break occasionally will help you return to your studies feeling refreshed and ready to focus.
practice mindfulness -> try practicing meditation to calm your mind. even a 5-minute session can help you reset mentally and emotionally.
headspace - a great guided meditation app, the only con is the pricing
here are some good free alternatives tho:
insight timer
runner
medito
connect with others -> even a quick chat about how you’re feeling can make a huge difference in your mood and motivation.
celebrate small wins -> don’t wait until you’ve finished a whole subject to feel accomplished.
celebrate the small victories—whether it’s finishing a section, acing a practice quiz, or just sticking to your study plan for the day.
adjust your expectations -> if things don’t go exactly to plan, don’t beat yourself up. adjust your expectations and keep moving forward.
take time to unplug -> unplugging for a few hours can give you a much-needed mental break.
I can guarantee that less social media makes my mood better, not just for studying but for social interactions. try making a dedicated time of the day where you step away from screens!!

✧ ˚.The Ultimate Study Guide: How to Become a Top-Tier Student ✨📚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi besties! 💖 It’s Mindy here, your resident study buddy and glow-up guru at Glowettee. I wanna talk about how to become a top-tier student this upcoming year without losing your sanity—or your vibe. Imagine sipping on a latte, surrounded by pastel notes and cute stationery, feeling like the main character of your academic journey. That’s the energy we’re channeling today. Ready to take your study game from blah to iconic? Hopefully these tips could help prepare for the second semester!
Tumblr media
1. Active Recall and Spaced Repetition Hacks
Okay, so here’s the deal: simply reading your notes is not the move. You’ve got to make your brain work a little harder to really soak in all that info.
Active recall: Write down questions from your notes and try answering them without looking. This forces your brain to actually retrieve the information (and helps you remember it longer!).
Spaced repetition: Spread out your study sessions instead of cramming. Use apps like Anki or Quizlet to create digital flashcards that you review over time. Bonus: Anki is super aesthetic if you customize the fonts and colors. 🌸
2. How to Make Study Sessions Feel Luxurious
Studying doesn’t have to feel like a chore, babe. Here’s how to romanticize the grind:
Set the mood: Light a candle, play soft lofi beats, and wear your coziest silk robe. (Yes, the fancy one.)
Aesthetic setup: Use pastel highlighters, cute pens, and a clean desk space. Your desk should feel like a Pinterest board come to life.
Snacks & drinks: Treat yourself to something yummy like matcha lattes or chocolate-covered almonds. A chic study session is fueled by snacks, trust me. 🍵
3. Step-by-Step Pomodoro Method Breakdown for Focus
Pomodoro is basically magic for productivity. Here’s how to do it:
Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on one task. (Pro tip: Choose something specific, like summarizing one chapter.)
Take a 5-minute break after each session. Stretch, grab a sip of water, or scroll Pinterest for inspo.
Repeat four times, then take a longer 20-30 minute break. Use this time to dance around your room or journal—it’s all about balance.
🦢 ✧ ˚.Why it works: Breaking your tasks into bite-sized chunks makes studying less overwhelming and way more manageable. Plus, the breaks keep you refreshed and motivated.🦢 ✧ ˚.
4. Best Apps for Studying
Bestie, your phone doesn’t have to be a distraction—it can be your ultimate study tool. Here are my faves:
Notion: Perfect for organizing your study schedule and creating dreamy, color-coded notes. You can even add cute icons and headers to make it so aesthetic. (SPOILER!! I'll be making some soon for you guys!!)
Quizlet: Great for flashcards and testing yourself on key terms. Bonus: You can use other people’s study sets if you’re short on time.
Anki: Ideal for mastering those tough subjects (hello, bio and chem!). The spaced repetition feature is a lifesaver for long-term retention.
Forest: Keeps you off your phone by growing virtual trees while you study. The guilt of killing your tree will keep you focused, I promise. 🌳
5. How to Romanticize School and Make It Fun
Here’s the tea: school doesn’t have to be boring. Treat every class like a stepping stone to your dream life.
Dress the part: Show up like the best-dressed main character. Think Blair Waldorf vibes but comfy—plaid skirts, cozy cardigans, and knee-high socks are always a win.
Curate your supplies: Invest in cute stationery, a pastel planner, and maybe even a monogrammed tote bag. If it feels luxurious, you’ll want to use it.
Celebrate small wins: Finished a chapter? Reward yourself with a TikTok break or a face mask. You deserve it.
Shift your mindset: Instead of dreading school, think of it as part of your glow-up. Every essay, test, or project is one step closer to the 🦢 ✧ ˚.elite🦢 ✧ ˚. version of you.
Final Thoughts
You’ve got this, babe. Becoming a top-tier student is about working smarter, not harder—and looking cute while doing it. Make your study sessions a vibe, stay consistent with these hacks, and watch your grades (and confidence) skyrocket. Remember: You’re not just studying for school; you’re building the foundation for your dream life. 💕
Tumblr media
Let me know how you’re leveling up your study game in the comments or tags! And don’t forget to tag @glowettee if you post your aesthetic study setups—I’d love to see them. ✨
Xoxo, Mindy/Glowettee 🌸

Unusual Writing Tips You Didn’t Know You Needed
You’ve probably heard the usual writing advice like "Show, don’t tell" or "Write every day" (yes, I know, I’ve suggested these too—they’re classics for a reason). But I’ve gathered a few unconventional writing tips that have helped me break through creative blocks, and maybe they’ll spark something for you too! ✨
1. Stop Writing Mid-Sentence It sounds strange, but if you stop writing in the middle of a sentence, your brain will stay engaged with your work. When you come back, you’ll instantly know where to pick up. It’s like leaving breadcrumbs for your mind to follow.
2. Write the Boring Parts First That one slow scene you’re dreading? Knock it out first. Think of it as clearing the path for all the fun, action-packed scenes that come later. Once the boring parts are done, you can fully dive into the exciting ones without hesitation.
3. Change Your Font A quick font change can be a game-changer! It tricks your brain into thinking you’re looking at a completely new piece of writing, helping you spot weak spots or areas that need refining. Also, it makes editing less of a chore when you’re tired of staring at the same old page.
4. Write Something Awful Give yourself 15 minutes to write the worst thing you can. Let it be cheesy, awkward, and messy. This removes all the pressure and often leads to unexpected ideas or breakthroughs. After that, you can dive into your real writing without the perfectionism getting in the way.

Working on my 2024 goals
Tumblr media
Thursday 5th October 2023
Already started working on my 2024 goals! I love doing this every year! I know I don't complete them all every year but I just find it super fun planning my future like this! 💗✨
This year I made my spreadsheet even more prettier and more dynamically - finally had to research how to use excel/Google sheets to make the formulas BUT UH OH it's all just SQL. Who would have guessed using Excel involves SQL-like formulas and commands? 😶
Edit: The Google Template is in my shop now! 🙋🏾‍♀️🌸

recommendations of books! by ana
Tumblr media
I read until I fall asleep
ʚ- All books im looking foward to read this summer! some non fic and fic hope you find something that interests you. its kinda long
ʚ- Almost all of them are tiktok recs the user of where i find the book will be in pink.
Book's:
Memoirs / essays
Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture : Cultural critic and bestselling author Roxane Gay has edited a collection of essays that explore what it means to live in a world where women are frequently belittled and harassed due to their gender, and offers a call to arms insisting that "not that bad" must no longer be good enough.
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone : From a psychotherapist, and national advice columnist comes a thought-provoking new book that takes us behind the scenes of a therapist's world -- where her patients are looking for answers (and so is she).
Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism : The author of the widely praised Wordslut analyzes the social science of cult influence: how cultish groups from Jonestown and Scientology to SoulCycle and social media gurus use language as the ultimate form of power.
Tumblr media
Romance
Book Lovers : If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.
Seven Days in June : Brooklynite Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer, who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning literary author who, to everyone's surprise, shows up in New York.
Tumblr media
science / philosophy
When god was a woman ; Here, archaeologically documented, is the story of the religion of the Goddess. Under her, women's roles were far more prominent than in patriarchal Judeo-Christian cultures. Stone describes this ancient system and, with its disintegration, the decline in women's status. Index; maps and illustrations.
It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle : A groundbreaking approach to transforming traumatic legacies passed down in families over generations, by an acclaimed expert in the field
Written in Bone: Hidden Stories in What We Leave Behind : Drawing upon her years of research and a wealth of remarkable experience, the world-renowned forensic anthropologist Professor Dame Sue Black takes us on a journey of revelation. From skull to feet, via the face, spine, chest, arms, hands, pelvis and legs, she shows that each part of us has a tale to tell. What we eat, where we go, everything we do leaves a trace, a message that waits patiently for months, years, sometimes centuries, until a forensic anthropologist is called upon to decipher it.
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents : If you grew up with an emotionally immature, unavailable, or selfish parent, you may have lingering feelings of anger, loneliness, betrayal, or abandonment. You may recall your childhood as a time when your emotional needs were not met, when your feelings were dismissed, or when you took on adult levels of responsibility in an effort to compensate for your parent’s behavior. These wounds can be healed, and you can move forward in your life.
Tumblr media
feminism / law
Justice and the Politics of Difference : This book challenges the prevailing philosophical reduction of social justice to distributive justice. It critically analyzes basic concepts underlying most theories of justice, including impartiality, formal equality, and the unitary moral subjectivity. Starting from claims of excluded groups about decision making, cultural expression, and division of labor, Iris Young defines concepts of domination and oppression to cover issues eluding the distributive model.
The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler-Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 : Original, engaging and striking, Palestine – A Biography crosses historical events, never-before-explored archival materials and accounts of generations, dealing in a simultaneously sober and emotional way with the facts of a tragic confrontation between two peoples who claim the same territory.
Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny : Misogyny is a hot topic, yet it's often misunderstood. What is misogyny, exactly? Who deserves to be called a misogynist? How does misogyny contrast with sexism, and why is it prone to persist--or increase--even when sexist gender roles are waning? This book is an exploration of misogyny in public life and politics, by the moral philosopher and writer Kate Manne.
Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity : Since its publication in 1990, Gender Trouble has become one of the key works of contemporary feminist theory, and an essential work for anyone interested in the study of gender, queer theory, or the politics of sexuality in culture. This is the text where Judith Butler began to advance the ideas that would go on to take life as "performativity theory," as well as some of the first articulations of the possibility for subversive gender practices
Bodies That Matter: On the Discursive Limits of "Sex" : In Bodies That Matter, renowned theorist and philosopher Judith Butler argues that theories of gender need to return to the most material dimension of sex and sexuality: the body. Butler offers a brilliant reworking of the body, examining how the power of heterosexual hegemony forms the "matter" of bodies, sex, and gender. Butler argues that power operates to constrain sex from the start, delimiting what counts as a viable sex.
Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot : oday's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few.
Tumblr media
Poem
Good Grief : When Brianna Pastor released her self-published poetry collection, Good Grief, she was blown away by the outpouring of support from people who reached out and said, “Yes. Me too.” For anyone who has struggled with questions of identity or coped with serious emotional issues, including grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression, this collection will help you find hope on the other side.
Instructions for Traveling West: Poems ; A vivid and inspiring poetry collection about what’s possible when we heed our instincts and honor our intuition, allowing ourselves to strike out for new territories of love, pleasure, and peace.

how can I be productive after school?😭😭like all I do is homework then I go on my phone for the rest of the day
anonnie, omg I used to struggle so much w this, but I used wikihow and here’s the information that I used <3
HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE AFTER SCHOOL
Tumblr media
1. MOTIVATE YOURSELF!
Set rewards for yourself! E.g every 20 minutes I study, I earn 5 minutes of screen time. Or, you can ask your family/roommates about some incentives they can offer to you if they notice you’re productive.
Place a few post it notes around your room of reminders and motivators to help you get started once you come back.
2. ORGANISING
When you get back from school, create a to do list of everything that you want to achieve for today. Keep it realistic and concise so you are able to do it within the day. You can use the 4 box method, arrange it from most important-least important etc etc.
Eat the frog. Do the hardest task on your list first, so you can get it over and done with and be more keen to do the other tasks. This will create a positive flow from your first and last task.
Or, if you struggle with that, start with the task you can complete in minimal time. This is an easy victory in your day but will still create that flow to the rest of your tasks.
Timeblocking. Schedule and dedicate parts of the day to complete certain tasks that you do everyday, which will help with nurturing those daily habits into your routine. Add a reminder/alarm on your phone of when to start these tasks.
3. AVOIDING DISTRACTIONS (like your phone..)
Don’t listen to music while doing mental tasks. Your brain will end up multitasking with the music and task at hand, so not your full potential is put in your work. If you must, listen to coloured noise or non-vocal music.
Ask your family/roommates to help you get back on track if you’re not being productive, or to remind you to start doing your work.
Put all electronic devices (that you’re not using for work) away. Turn off all notifications, and if you must, delete any apps that may tempt you into using it. Or, ask someone to keep hold of your phone while you work.

Who according to you is an It girl? How to become one?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think of it girl as an energy. She turns heads as soon as she walks into the room. She is magnetic. She could embody any energy-golden retriever, black cat, femme fatale; but the essence is she is a charismatic, charming in a way that is non-threatening to others. She doesn't bring someone else down to make her feel good about herself.
I am planning on making a journal for embodying this kind of energy. what would people like to have in this?

hi, i've got a low score on my tests, and ii'm feeling jealous of one of my friends who've scored good, like really good, and become the top rankers... would you have any tips on removing the jealousy to become more productive?
jealousy as motivation + how to turn envy into your next glow-up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi angel!! alright, let’s get real. feeling jealous sucks, especially when it’s toward someone you care about. it’s like this weird mix of guilt and frustration and just straight-up feeling not good enough. but guess what? jealousy is normal. like, completely human. it’s just your brain’s way of saying, “hey, i wanted that too.”
so instead of beating yourself up over it or trying to pretend it’s not there, let’s figure out how to use that energy for good. you don’t need to sit with that feeling forever. let’s take it and make it work for you.
✧˖° own your feelings
first things first: let yourself feel it. none of that “i shouldn’t feel this way” stuff. it’s okay. jealousy is just a reaction, not a reflection of who you are. acknowledge it. say it out loud if you have to: “i’m feeling jealous, and that’s okay.” you can’t move past something if you keep denying it.
𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕪’𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕡:
try journaling it out. just grab a notebook (or open a doc) and write, “i feel jealous because...” and finish the sentence. let yourself get messy with it. write every little detail, why it bothers you, how it makes you feel, and what thoughts are running through your head. you might find that just writing it out makes it feel way less heavy.
✧˖° figure out the why
most of the time, jealousy isn’t really about the other person. it’s about something deeper. are you jealous of their scores because you feel like you didn’t try hard enough? are you upset because you actually did put in the effort, but didn’t see results? or maybe it’s about feeling overlooked. understanding the root makes it easier to address.
𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕪’𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕡:
ask yourself these questions:
➼ is this jealousy actually about my own self-worth?
➼ am i comparing myself because i secretly don’t feel good enough?
➼ is there something i admire about how they study or prepare that i could learn from?
sometimes the jealousy is just your brain’s way of saying, “i want to do better too.” and that’s okay. that means you’re motivated, you just need to channel it the right way.
✧˖° reframe the jealousy
okay, so we’ve faced it. now let’s flip it. instead of seeing your friend’s success as a threat or a reminder of what you didn’t do, look at it as proof that it’s possible. they did it, which means it’s not out of reach for you either. that’s actually kinda amazing if you think about it. it’s like the universe giving you a little nudge that, “hey, you can get there too.”
𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕪’𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕡:
try saying this out loud: “their success does not take away from mine.” repeat it until it feels real. just because someone else did well doesn’t mean you can’t too. there’s enough room for both of you to thrive.
✧˖° turn jealousy into inspiration
now we’re getting to the fun part. use that feeling as fuel. instead of just sitting with it, let it push you forward. break it down: what did your friend do differently? did they study in a way you haven’t tried yet? did they stick to a schedule? maybe they just had a really good mindset going into the test.
make a list of things they did that you think helped. then, figure out which of those things you could realistically try for yourself.
𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕪’𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕡:
ask your friend for tips. seriously. it can feel awkward, but most people love to share what worked for them. just be honest: “hey, i really admire how well you did on that test. i’ve been struggling a bit, do you have any tips or study methods that helped you?” you’ll get insights and might even strengthen your friendship.
✧˖° set your own goals
this is key. you’re not trying to “beat” your friend. you’re just trying to do better for yourself. so set a goal that’s yours alone, something that doesn’t depend on how someone else is doing. it could be something like:
➼ “i want to improve my math grade by 10% on the next test.”
➼ “i’m going to study for 30 minutes every day after school.”
➼ “i’m going to do one practice paper a week.”
make it specific and achievable. that way, your focus shifts from “i need to beat them” to “i need to be proud of myself.”
✧˖° practice gratitude (yes, even for them)
it sounds weird, but it works. next time you’re around your friend or thinking about their success, say (out loud or in your head), “i’m happy for them.” at first, it might feel forced. but after a while, you’ll notice it makes you feel lighter. gratitude has a way of pushing out the bitterness.
𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕪’𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕡:
practice being your own hype woman too. list three things you’re proud of, big or small. remind yourself that you have your own strengths, even if they’re not the same as your friend’s.
✧˖° focus on progress, not perfection
the goal here isn’t to suddenly be completely unbothered by your friend’s achievements. it’s okay if it still stings a little. the goal is to not let that feeling stop you from going after what you want.
jealousy is just a reaction. it’s what you do with it that counts. use it to get curious about your own habits, find inspiration in their success, and set your own goals. you’ve got this, babe. i believe in you.
💌 let me know how it goes!! i’m rooting for you!
you’re allowed to feel what you feel, and you’re allowed to grow from it. rooting for you always 💕

If you're having trouble managing social media/computer/phone use, and need help to track your behaviors/time management, I highly recommend Rescue Time. I gave them an interview a few years back, too.
