I like to think with the headcanon where almost the whole school is vying for MC’s (your) attention, Ace and Deuce would be happy enough for either of them to land you. So they’ll start off realizing they both like you, but if Ace notices that you’ve set your eyes on Deuce (and Ace will definitely know before he does), he’s gonna make sure Deuce doesn’t blow it.

But like Ace already knows Deuce is dense so he’s better off trying to convince you to confess first. If Deuce doesn’t believe you, Ace will just wack him with a flamingo club…

Female!MC and Friends - Riddle Rosehearts

Oh, the upright and feared Riddle Rosehearts.

Let's not talk about his first meeting and overblot 'cause there he was just c r a zy.

It's after a while after things and he have calmed down where he can even approach you and properly 'meet' you for the first time. Riddle cannot believe how careless he was that he noticed only just now that you are a girl in an all-boys-academy - the only one here probably as well.

His first thought was: 'This breaks a rule.'

But he is quick to scold and correct himself. This kind of thinking earned him the most embarrassing and stressful meltdown he has ever experienced. Clearly no one got out happy with this kind of thinking.

Not Riddle. Not his dorm. Maybe only his mother...

In secret, there were some rules he didn't like...

He likes to have milk in his tea. He likes chestnuts in his sweets...and he would like to have free time to spend with his friends...

He is sure you would like to have that, too.

When You Are Invited To The Unbirthday Party...

Well, this most likely happens after the overblot, as an apology.

It is also the first Unbirthady Party you have been invited to.

It will most likely go as it did in the game...and Riddle is apologizing to you too, since you got dragged into his mess as a bystander.

As a new student! You just got here at NRC and have had to deal with his mess, his problems.

You also helped Ace make the 'apology' nut tart...so you definitely deserve an apology.

There might be a bit of confusion within the normal Heartslabyul dormmates who do not know you...they might also notice that you are a girl.

There might be a few whispers in a group on what you are doing here. It can be hard to notice if someone is magicless on first glance but it can be easy to notice a girl, if you present yourself as such in a way.

There is a sliiiiight chance you are gonna get asked about or talked to about this. If there are some negative claims or responses to you being at NRC or at the party, Riddle will be sure to correct them quickly.

"Do not disregard anyone here! She is still a guest!"

Riddle will go back to his old habit and the students will nervously ask if that is a rule.

"No, not a rule," He softens his voice, "It goes without saying that no one shall be misjudged or disregarded, no matter who they are!"

Continuing his apology, he will treat everyone for a bit. He will ask what tea you like (you can have any tea, no matter the rule!) and if you'd like to play with the hedgehogs (he can turn a blind eye for that one today).

You can take advantage of it like Ace totally did/would. Or you could be considerate of his...weird overblot situation.

At the former he will be annoyed but allow it ONLY FOR TODAY, and for the second one, he will be perplexed but decides, yeah, he should gracefully accept your kindness.

Riddle will make sure to treat you equally, in and out of Heartslabyul.

But, if he finds himself fond of you, favoritism might follow...

When He Cooks For You...

Cooking is...hard.

Riddle truly wants to improve. If he likes you, he could try cooking for you to taste-test his dishes. He doesn't wanna go through the oyster-sauce-situation again...

Depending on your own skills, he might ask for a liiiittle bit of help. What is this spice? How much is a 'spoonful'? What do they mean when they say 'cook with love'?

You will quickly find out that he is a terrible cook. You could be a chef or someone who wouldn't be able to cook to save your own life, but at least you'd still be better than Riddle.

So when he starts asking these small questions...you can expect to give him full on lessons.

He...feels weird being taught by another student but grows to appreaciate it. He will remember your instructions and use them wisely (as he literally states after each explanation) so you can expect a delicious dish!

Nothing is perfect at the beginning but the more he tries, and the more he learns from you (or Trey), the better he gets at it! He lets you try it and once he has made something actually tasty, he will be quite proud!

He never knew how nice it is to see someone enjoy the meals you make...especially with a smile such as yours.

He might make more for you - just for fun and not to learn. Just for you...

B-But as th-thanks, of course! For what other reason could it be?!

If YOU make HIM something, he will be...confused...then realizes...and then feels touched...and then confused again.

You...made him a meal? Just like that? Why?

When he does it for you, he does not question anything. But here the roles are reversed and it's strange to him...

Riddle hesitates a little. This meal was not planned for today and he might not follow exactly as his mother intended his diet to be...but you made this for him.

He eats it...and no matter the taste, he will thank you. Eating slowly as he digests (literally and figuratively) this gesture of yours.

No one has ever done this for him. It was all his mother, who noted down the calories instead of thinking if he'll actually enjoy the dish or not.

If you make him a STRAWBERRY T A R T oooooh man, expect some silence.

Riddle is. So. confused. But. In a good way.

But also in. A. Perplexing way.

You...you did this to please him, right? To make him happy?

There cannot be any other explanation as to why.

Out of every little thing, you decided to make him his favorite food...he will stare at it in awe...and actually ponder if he is even allowed to eat it.

One, because of old habits. Two, because it looks so nice. And you baked it for him.

You went out of your way to get the ingredients, wash and cut the strawberries, knet the doe, put in the oven...

He calls out to you midway and will mutter with a flustered face that he will gladly eat it. Would you...like to accompany him? It could be like an small, unofficial, Unbrithday Party...a private one.

Riddle feels so weird eating the tart. Its great and he loves it...but it's not from a bakery, it's not made by Trey for everyone - it was made by you; For him.

Riddle will thank you with flushed cheeks.

When He...Proposes To A Ghost!?

Oh boy. Ghost wedding, huh?

Well, strange and weird, but nothing Riddle cannot manage!

It is fake-proposing anyway and he was to a lot of parties when he was younger. Perhaps he even witnessed a proposal in one of them!

Safe to say, someone as gentleman-ly and sophisticated as Riddle has a high chance of winning a bride's heart - even if it doesn't beat anymore.

Riddle prepares himself perfectly and has the confidence to suit it to. He doesn't believe he is flawless but knows that his attempt will at least help get Idia out of there.

You could aid him though he doesn't think he needs the help.

But if you want to propose to Eliza as well? Certainly you know that makes you two…uh…rivals?

He doesn't like the thought of that even if it is just fake proposing.

To impress the bride you must wear something formal. No matter if suit or dress, Riddle will feel flustered seeing you like this.

If you wear a suit, expect him to scrutinize you. He is very familiar with wearing suits and look at that, your tie is crooked again! Is the jacket even ironed? And those colors don't align…

He will fix every little thing until you're presentable. This just won't do, you know?

Might realize later that he helped you have a better chance at getting the bride? That's bad. RIDDLE is supposed to be the groom for one. And second…he…doesn't want you to become her wife.

If you wear a dress however, Riddle will definitely feel flustered. He doesn't know much about how dresses are 'properly' worn…and you look nice in it, too.

Are you sure you want to compete in general actually? Riddle got this, you know? You don't need to put yourself out there!

The thought of you winning and becoming a bride yourself? Its…so unpleasant.

Will keep telling you to not worry about this. Don't participate…Riddle is the dormhead and he can take care of this. You can help him if you want…

Or maybe dont. Because rehearsing his proposal and gifting you a bouquet of RED ROSES (he knows they mean true love!) And looking at you with one knee while YOU DRESSED LIKE A BRIDE IS

Before all of this, he would have gladly taught you…but here, he finds himself too flustered to do it. His eyes barely make contact to yours as he sways you in a waltz and even HE starts to make mistakes.

When You Are Stranded On An Island Together...

Wh-what is this? First he's staring into a book and now here he is with you on a beach?! With a...strange, blue creature...

Suddenly being stranded on an island can already be a stressful situation for anyone but for Riddle, it is outrageous. There are no rules, no etiquette, no order...and they left the campus without saying! Sure, it was in accident and sudden and through magical means, but still!

But well...if you two are already here (with that Stitch thing), might as well try to make most of this situation.

Riddle will be a bit at loss when making a cot or a tool or anything like that...but he will get the hang of it eventually. Magic still exists in any case of emergency.

Not being able to freely follow the rules of the Queen of Hearts (how ironic), leaves him a bit anxious and he WILL ALWAYS try his best to follow them. However, he realizes the situation he is in and will not be hard on himself when he cannot do so well or perfectly.

He also would not expect you to follow the rules (maybe Ace though).

Riddle is not used to the beach or vacation itself. Since he is so used to rules and etiquette, you might have to show him how to relax. Swimming, building sand castles, collecting sea shells...anything really.

It's strange...but nice. He slowly finds enjoyment in simply doing unproductive things.

With such casual and revealing clothes, he might feel a bit unsure. Though, well, this is proper 'clothing' for a vacation so...

The dormhead might look for you for any direction on how to...'properly' wear vacation clothes. But! If you were to wear revealing clothing fitting for the beach or heat as well (let alone a *gasp* swimwear or a bikini!) Riddle will turn a bright red. What are you doing wearing that?! No, wait...you're doing it correctly, right?It's fitting for a beach...sorry then...but he will still be as red as a goldfish (in Floyd's words) just not out of rage this time. He's flustered seeing you like this.

It doesn't help that you get into the water...

In a swimwear obviously all of your....feminine ways are showing! (In his words. He just doesn't have the gall to say it outright). Don't you...? He means doesn't this...?

Ugh. He gives up. Too embarrassed to communicate his thoughts and Ace is laughing at him.

Yet...this might be a good opportunity to try out this 'relaxing' with you...

When You Dance At A Masquerade...

An activity Riddle is quite familiar with!

It is an honor to be invited by Noble Bell College, so as a dormleader Riddle will do his utmost to leave an perfect impression from beginning to end.

He will be quite sociable and set his 'rule above all'-mindset aside. He is a guest after all.

You will find yourself asked for a dance by him. He is quite confident in his dancing skills and, regarding the ghost wedding (and Helloween if you partook in it with him), this isn't the first time you have danced together, so there isn't really a reason for Riddle to be nervous.

Even if it was the first time, he'd still assure you that he will show you the ropes.

If you are knowledgable in it yourself, he will expect a good perfomance. Especially if he was the one who taught you.

Riddle quite likes the aesthatic of the masquerade. It has such an mysterious vibe to it and he admits to himself that you seem quite charming and intruiging with that mysterious mask on.

Even if he knows that it's you.

Will act a bit more playful and like a 'prince from far, far away' as he asks you for 'the honor of a dance'. If you laugh and oblige with a bit of playfulness yourself, you scored 100 points.

No matter what you wear, Riddle will compliment your get-up. Do compliment his as well. In fact, it suits him and his personality perfectly! With how sophisticated Riddle is, nobody else could pull off the entire 'masked-prince' aesthatic!

He will blush and clear his throat. Although he will agree with you.

Would truly like to have your first dance but if he does not get the chance, he won't complain. But he will be sure to be on look-out for you to get at least one dance.

If you are??? Very much enjoying the dancing??? With giggles and laughter??? OH man, he doesn't know what to do.

On one hand, he tries really hard not to scold you. This isn't proper etiquette for dancing, you aren't supposed to have f u n. You have to be graceful and impressive and elegant and...

But on the other hand...you have so much fun. You're like a shining sunflower princess blooming amidst these other flowers as if you had seen the sunlight for the first time...he cannot take that fun away from you.

Uh-oh, did he just really think that?

Though his face is blooming just as much in red, he keeps his mouth shut and twirls you as much as you like.

It's nice seeing you enjoy yourself so much. Riddle enjoys himself too.

Yet besides the dancing, he doesn't know what else to do...seems like he does not need to uphold a reputation all the time through the festivity, so he will seek you out for some guidance but also because he enjoys your company.

If you ask him out of curiousity and fun what it means to have 'proper ballroom etiquette', he will gladly tell you but be confused that you might find it fun? He certainly didn't as a kid.

If you, again, play around like some kind of noble or princess, he is biting his tongue. You are just playing around...and it's just for tonight. As long as you don't embarass yourself (or him) then...be as much of a princess as you want.

Ah, to have some tea and dance all night...it would be nice.

Dorm Leaders with an S/O Cursed to Sleep

Characters: Riddle Rosehearts, Leona Kingscholar,Azul Ashengrotto, Kalim Al-Asim, Vil Schoenheit Content Warnings: Tiny bit of angst (more like panic but the title is self-explanatory), yall can imagine the ending however u want im cutting it off at the kiss, mostly typed on phone so possible typos but its fine A/N: man it took me so long to get around to this and i'm so sorryyyy (*_ _)人 but i hope you enjoy!

"How could this possibly happen? Y/N is surrounded by students for a large portion their day, every day, and yet they are lying here, having been singled out and targeted by such a malevolent curse," Vil argued.

Leona leaned against the furthest wall, rolling his eyes. "Will ya shut your trap already? We get it, it's a bad situation, and it's real inconvenient." He scowled at your sleeping form, like maybe if he judged you enough, you'd wake up. "I almost wanna say they deserve this, for bein' so dense, but—"

"How could you say that?" Kalim cried, attempting to quickly wipe the tears streaking down his face. "They've been nothing but nice to all of us, but now they're d—"

"The prefect is not dead, simply... incapacitated for an indefinite amount of time," Azul replied smoothly, but if you looked closely, he seemed to be holding back a bit of his own worry from showing on his face. "I think—"

"No one asked you what you think, cephalo-punk—"

"QUIET, ALL OF YOU!" Riddle shouted, thoroughly irritated by the lack of progress in getting you to wake up. "Instead of sitting around complaining, we should be coming up with a solution."

They stood in silence for a few tense moments, before Vil softly spoke.

"I believe I've read about a similar situation happening with a princess long ago. She too was cursed into slumber, and the only way to wake her up was—"

"But-but that's impossible!" Riddle sputtered. "True love's kiss? Should we really be looking to a fairytale for our answers?"

"All stories are laced with truth, as they say," Azul thoughtfully stroked his chin. "Perhaps... we should try it, if we truly have no other options."

A heavy silence spread across the room as every leader contemplated this. Finally, someone spoke.

"Alright, I'll do it."

Riddle Rosehearts

Oh, dear, what a predicament.

Riddle’s a clever boy, so he knows exactly what needs to be done... he just doesn't exactly have the courage to do it.

I mean, true love’s kiss? Is that something he can even achieve? Is he worthy of kissing you awake, or will he fall short of needing to be your "true love"?

He has his worries, but he does his best to be rational, and just do the next logical step in achieving his goal.... in this case the goal being to save you from being stuck in an eternal slumber that possibly no one will be able to wake you from. No big deal.

He ordered everyone to clear out, as there was no way he could bring himself to kiss you in front of all those eyes. Much too embarrassing.

He approached the side of your bed, and stared at your gently closed eyes. You looked so peaceful— was this perhaps a much-needed break from running around campus every day? As much as he wanted to say you SHOULD be waking up to attend to what needed to be done, he was afraid of forcing you back to your tiresome waking reality. What if you got upset at him for bringing you back?

But he couldn't dwell on these questions when you were stuck under a curse. Everyone wanted you back. And Riddle missed you more than he'd like to admit. So he leaned over your resting frame, and with only a moment of hesitation, he pressed his lips gently to yours.

Leona Kingscholar

First off, what a hassle.

Most of him didn't even wanna be here, arguing with the other dorm losers, but he couldn't bring himself to just ditch you when you needed help.

Once Schoenheit mentioned true love's kiss being the only option available to wake you up, he scoffed and almost left right then, ready to let someone else deal with that. But then he had a thought.

What if he was the one that you needed that kiss from?

The more he thought about it, the more possessive he was getting over you. He didn't want any of these other idiots kissing you, cuz you were his. He was the one that truly wanted you, and you felt the same way, of course. Right?

He got flashbacks to all the times you defended him, like during his overblot, when you simply refused to let him destroy himself when he was at his lowest.

And then, right there, he made up his mind. He wasn't gonna let any of these guys claim you first, so he pushed his way through from the wall, slipped his hand underneath your head, and kissed you with all the passion he'd been holding back since he met you.

Azul Ashengrotto

Azul was incredibly good at holding up a façade of confidence, even if he didn’t always feel that way. But upon realizing the fact that the only way to wake you was through a true love’s kiss, well, it made him more nervous than he expected to be

At first, he tried to approach it like he would any other situation. How can he turn this in his favor? How can he maximize his own gain from this situation? How can he take control?

But the more he thought about it, the more a certain sense of dread overcame him. He started to realize that this was not a situation he could take control of. There was only one option; to kiss you, or let someone else do it. No cheating, no manipulation, and there’s nothing else he could gain or lose. That was the only variable.

But now that he really thought about that… was kissing you really such a bad option? Or was it something he desired deep in the pits of his own soul, under all the indifferent, confident, businesslike masks he used on the regular?

The more he thought, the more his feelings for you started to claw its way towards the surface of his consciousness. And once those feelings broke through the tumultuous waves of all his suppressed emotions and made itself known, it hit him like a brick.

He cared for you. Deeper than he’d ever ventured back in the Coral Sea, deeper than he could’ve imagined. And then he felt something akin to possessiveness, almost. Not quite so aggressive as it, but he realized how badly he wanted to be the one to kiss you. Not any of the others, because then he’d have to face up to the possibility that he wasn’t your true love.

But then, even if he WAS the first one to kiss you, would you even wake up?

He really, really hoped you would.

Finally, after being stuck in his thoughts for what felt like an eternity, he decided to act.

In his most confident, self-assured voice, he asked the others to step out of the room, and only after Leona made a mocking gesture at him before closing the door, did Azul let out a big sigh.

Now alone, with his feelings free to take over, he inched towards the side of your bed, all the while keeping his eyes on your serene face before delicately sitting down on the edge.

Slowly, he took off one glove to gently hold the side of your face, rubbing his thumb against your cheek. And as he studied how peaceful you were, and felt how soft your skin was upon your beautiful face, he felt a sense of calm wash over him like a beach at high tide. All of his nervousness about kissing you was dispelled. Because like this, he felt as if you were his rock during a torrential hurricane. You felt like the safety of his octopot whenever he was afraid. He cared for you so much, he could never be scared of you.

So if this was what had to be done to wake you, to bring back your smile and laughter and all the joy you brought to his life, he would kiss you without a moment’s hesitation.

And so he did, and it was as gentle as the rocking seaweed sways under the sea, but filled with enough love to create an ocean.

Kalim Al-Asim

He’s so, so terrified that you won’t be able to wake up from this curse

Almost leaves to go get Jamil over here to figure out a way to wake you up, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave you!

If Vil said that a kiss would be the way to wake you up, does that mean they’d all have to take turns kissing you? But he wanted to be the one that counted as true love!

I mean, he always showered you with gifts that you said were “too expensive” or something, and he always shared Jamil’s cooking with you, which of course you both thought was delicious. He does so much for you because he loves you! You’re his favorite person, and he regularly told you so, and how he wanted to bring you home to his family over school break, and that he was positive that his parents would approve of you!

And with how much he showed his love for you, how could he be anything but your true love!

Wait, he had to focus at the problem at hand. You needed a kiss to wake up, and he was totally willing to give you a lil kiss (you didn’t even have to be cursed to get one from him, he’s just that affectionate)

He tried really hard to push back the nervousness by thinking happy thoughts, like how excited he’d be once you woke up and then he could give you all his affection again and have Jamil cook up a feast to celebrate your waking, and he could get a bunch of fancy animals too, and invite the whole school so everyone could be happy that the curse was gone!

Dang, he wasn’t very good at focusing on the problem in front of him. Anyway.

If kissing you was all he had to do, he was willing to give it a shot! So he volunteered out loud, and without waiting for anyone to respond or even leave, he rushed over to your bedside, and combed his fingers through your hair before accidentally smashing his lips against yours a bit too hard. Oopsie. He was just overexcited, just looking forward to seeing your happy smile again!

Vil Schoenheit

Likely approaching this problem the most rationally, closely tied with Riddle.

In the story, the fabled princess was kissed awake by a wandering, random prince who just happened to be enraptured by her sleeping beauty, and he just happened to be her true love. But how lucky would you be, to have your true love be someone in this room?

Truth be told, he was hoping with all his heart that this was his chance to be the prince, the protagonist in the story, the one who ‘gets the girl’, as those ancient stories would put it. Going his whole life playing the role of the villain, he just wanted this one chance to be your prince.

Of course, you deserved nothing less than the fairest one this world had to offer, and Vil would say he was the fairest of them all, and that you deserved him, but more than anything, he just wanted to to able to deserve you.

He didn’t overthink the situation much. He was never one to succumb to nerves or panic or anxiety. He knew what had to be done, and he knew what he wanted to do. So he strode up to you without giving the other housewardens even a passing glance, gently cupped your face, and kissed you as lovingly and as elegantly as only the best prince could.

pardon my late message i've been letting letting the current damnation chapters sink in the past couple of days after finally taking the quiz (im am still waiting with baited breath but like in a chill way for the rest) but HOLY. MOLY.

i did indeed notice that the MC's have different morality stances, and they match their crimes (granted im still trying to figure out which one did what. cuz rn i got stuck on iago coming fraud or tax evasion, even though theyre super down with murder, but like raven is WAY more down to murder somebody. im just nit paying enough attention to figure it out, really. im having too much fun vibin)

WAIT is *THIS* part of the punishment? like not JUST being sent to another world that is based on a story, but specifically a YANDERE DEATH TRAP? 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯"

cuz like, sure, the MC is doing what they can to survive but depending on which one theyre fine to just vibe and let the story take its course if theyve got a good chance to survive not doing anything special. but then the story always gets WEIRD, RIGHT?! stuff always goes wrong! was that part of the vision? or am i going conspiracy crazy?

anyway AMAZING WORK. also you really fed the vil simps on that one story. i thought i was over him and content to be like rook and admire from afar but that SCENE with his hands wrapped around the retainer 🥵 i darn near short-circuited. HOW DARE YOU! (please continue 😉)

its hard to choose a favorite story in this series and i dont want to speak too soon before theyre all out. but i do have favorite bits in each of them.

and i just love the endings to them all. i love the bittersweet nature of all the endings. like none, of them are really romantic in a comforting way (duh its a yandere story) but they do vary in romance level. like by far i think riddle's azul's and vil's are the most romantic while leona and jamil are quite cold and calculating or in jamil's case mostly possessive and manipulative on the surface. it's VERY interesting.

and also bc im silly and you brought up the yandere-ness of the other characters, i start to wonder what happens next in these stories (im not asking for sequels. oh heavens no! never! unless you wanted to, but im mostly just brainstorming character relationships and potential conflicts). like in the savannaclaw story, ruggie and jack are also glued to the MC but not in a really romantic way? ruggie has that "i want to be your #2/by your side forever" which could go either way, but to me initially reads as "jack was pushing his way into MY spot and i want to guarantee he cant have it" rather than a "one day i'll deserve to be by your side romantically and for now i want to ensure i'll always have that opportunity by being next to you and a priority of yours" and then comes leona's proposal at the end, and i was thinking "uhhh but mc is by your side as consort, then ruggie gets pushed out of his spot in favor of the husband taking over. even though ruggie could still be an advisor and confidant, its still like 'move over dude theres another taking priority over you" and then that gets me wondering "what would happen if MC turned down leona? what kinda havoc would he wreak if any? does that put the village in jeopardy if he gets pissed off? what if they accept and they're STILL screwed bc he stops paying attention to the village after he gets the throne? and then the chieftain is taken into the palace and away from the village and has no way back and theyre left to basically flounder without them?"

also i really like how you end your stories with pseudo-cliffhangers? i mean they are but also the plot is mostly resolved and whatever major things that needed to happen happened. and its just the character resolutions and epilogues you dont see. its entertaining. like i said, i like to imagine what happens next and you really leave some stuff open for that.

Oh, for the crimes, just look at one of the questions which I believe asks what you (the quiz taker/MC) committed. Those are currently five of the seven crimes I've listed before, and each MC has committed at least ONE of them. But, they could've always committed more too.

On that other topic, of characters going yandere, one thing I hate is when reading a story and for some reason the characters are already obsessed with the MC but for absolutely no apparent reason. And me personally, I enjoy a bit of build up, which is why I try to implement some in my writing. Which can be a bit hard to do within forty pages when all these other things are happening, but I manage for the most part.

The campus of Night Raven College had become home to the Prefect of Ramshackle. And to finally be back, to be welcomed by the familiar faces and scenery was a sight for sore eyes. No longer was she, along with a handful of other students, on the Island of Woe, fighting for not only their lives but the entire world's future. It was a huge relief to return. Locket was more than happy to come back to the school grounds despite everything that had transpired in this school since her arrival.

But what really relieves her is the fact that Grim is at her side. The little furball was happy beyond belief to be back. Despite how tough he wanted to come off as, even he succumbed to tears. He missed her. He missed his friends.

And finally, he was home too.

Reunions were taking place on the fields, friends and classmates being reunited. There was plenty to do and talk about. It was chaotic yet this felt just right. When had this school ever been silent? And amiss it all, a voice catches her attention.

"Locket...!"

The Prefect's eyes widen when she recognizes that voice. With a quick turn, she finds Silver, a dear friend, looking her way. A smile eases onto her face once their eyes meet. Regardless of the troubles she just went through, he manages to make her light up with just his presence. Yet, unfortunately, Silver can't return that same smile.

"You...are you alright?" He asks with deep concern. Even if he has trouble expressing himself, his eyes hold so much more. Worry and unease sparkle within those shimmering and beautiful eyes. They say so much more than he does, practically pleading with hope that she is okay.

"I heard what happened," Silver continues. He doesn't know everything, just whatever they could conclude from an earlier meeting. How certain students were taken away and the guess as to why.

It doesn't help that he had witnessed it firsthand when they had come for Riddle. Knowing that Locket was gone, to chase after them, a feeling of dread had taken over his heart. Surely the same wouldn't happen to her, but to think it had? It left him troubled and worried, more than he would ever voice aloud. But it was clear on his face to anyone who saw him how he was fretting over the incident. Her sudden disappearance was more than enough to even make him have trouble sleeping.

Locket was known to jump into trouble and disregard her safety. And it seemed the same had happened yet again.

"You're not hurt, are you?"

"Oh, don't worry, Silver!" Locket smiles brightly at him with a spring in her step. She's tired, so tired. Dealing with another Overblot is draining, but she'd never let it show, at least not in front of a crowd. She has to keep up that smile no matter how weary it may be. In front of him, it's easier, and more natural to maintain.

She takes closer steps towards him, away from the reunion. "I'm alright." She reassures with a light smile and a matching laugh.

"There's a lot to explain about what happened though and I'm not too sure how much I can really spill..." It wasn't her story to tell. So many were involved and so much had happened. But, he deserved to know some of the truth, right? At least what happened to her.

For a brief moment, her eyes drift back to Grim. Her gaze softens as she sees the cat in the hands of Ace and Deuce. The three of them are huddled together, clinging to each other.

"But we got Grim back."

Silver follows her gaze. He knows the importance of that cat monster to her. And he also knows not to push someone to speak if they don't want to, especially her. She'd been gone for so long, or at least it felt like a long time. Silver could see just how tired she was. How tired everyone is. This incident had taken its toll on the entire school.

"You must be tired. You should rest when you get the chance." He replies. He's about to speak more, concerning her health but his gaze is suddenly drawn to the unusual purple cloth she's wearing. He didn't know why he hadn't noticed before, especially since it was a sudden and stark difference from her usual attire.

"Why're you in Pomefiore's dorm uniform, if I may ask?"

"Oh!" She gives a nervous laugh as she faces him once more, but not after glancing down at her attire. "Long story short, I had to wear it to help protect me! Ramshackle's uniform doesn't get the job done in different weather conditions." Or at all, really. Well, it did the basics, and that's all she needed. "The uniforms are imbued with magic, right? So, I had to put one on to adjust to the weather when we were flying."

The explanation sounds crazy out of context. Her, the Prefect, flying. But a lot of things have happened to her since arriving at this school. It shouldn't be too surprising to hear she flew in the sky or swam in the deepest parts of the sea. Now, here she was performing a simpler act, dawning another dorm's uniform.

Silver nods with a hum. He has so many questions going through his mind right now. Too many to ask at once. She needs her rest though, but his gaze still lingers on the uniform she wears.

He doesn't mind it, honestly. The uniform does fit her nicely. It's elegant and formal which suits the dorm it's from. Even if it wasn't imbued with magic, it does seem warmer than her usual attire.

It just leaves...something on his mind. Something similar to a bad taste in his mouth, yet not quite unpleasant. It's difficult to pinpoint this foreign feeling. He just wants to help her, to do the same as those of Pomefiore had done.

Silver finally decides on what he wants to do. But as he opens his mouth to speak, Grim is calling out for her. Locket can't say no to him, especially as he pulls her away from Silver. The cat is whining and crying about his henchhuman and how she needs to be by his side.

He can't help but smile at the two. It was important for them to reunite with everyone. She was missed, more than the other students would care to admit. But he wouldn't be afraid to say it if asked. For now, he steps back. It's not in him to interrupt a moment like this.

The days are getting colder and colder it seems. That or perhaps a brush with death lingered on her soul for longer than she thought. Regardless, the temperature around campus isn't as warm and pleasant as it was when she arrived back from the Island of Woe. Within the span of a couple of days, it had gone the breeze had gone from nice to chilly.

Locket takes one step out of Sam's shop and nearly has the urge to run back inside. At least his shop was always at a decent temperature to be in. But outside? It was cold. Freezing. And it didn't help that her 'cape' was nowhere to be seen around her shoulders.

The girl instantly hugs herself. The cool, chilly air brushes against her. Her clothes did little to fight off against the cold. It didn't help that she had returned to Ramshackle's uniform, which meant the lack of imbued magic and the warmth that came with it.

She wished that she had her jacket back, but so much had been going on lately. There was the fact Ramshackle had been practically destroyed. To ensure her and Grim's safety, she had to find a place to stay since her dorm was currently unlivable. It was even worse than when she first arrived here! There was so much to do that things felt like they were just piling up one after another.

At least she could spend time in Pomefiore. The invitation was extended to her and during these past couple of days, it had become a second home to her. And that's exactly where her jacket was right now.

It would be a bit of a trip back, but not a bad one. She never minded a walk around campus or traveling to other dorms. But today was different considering she lacked her cape.

"Oh, Locket." The familiar voice calls out to her, stopping her mind from worrying about the trip to Pomefiore. She turns and greets the boy with a smile.

"Silver!" She chirps, excited as always to see him no matter what predicament she may be in. "Heya, what brings you out here?"

"Nothing really. I was trying to find my fa- Lilia. He mentioned wanting to buy ingredients for dinner..." He does all he can to hold back a sigh. It's not like he could stop Lilia from cooking if he wanted to. He'd just have to tough it out and...do his best to eat whatever he decided to make.

"I didn't see him at the shop...maybe he already got them?" Locket suggests.

Silver doesn't want to admit that he's troubled by the thought. It sends a shiver down his spine to imagine what he'd bought already.

Yet, he catches sight of her once again. Noticing the change in clothing, or lack thereof. She no longer dawns the robes of Pomefiore, but her usual Ramshackle attire. One piece is missing from her and its very noticeable.

Then he notices her body language. The slight shivering and how she holds herself together. Despite how she tries to stand firmly and act as if she doesn't have a care in the world, he can see that she's trying to hide it. It's subtle but Silver is observant.

Unfortunately, he's not sure how to bring it up. Could he ask? Or should he simply do something? He decides to go for the latter.

"I'm sure I'll come across him later. But for now...I'd like you to have this, if you will." Silver starts to take off his jacket. He takes a step closer to her. Once close enough, he simply drapes it around her shoulders, making it seem like her cape had returned, albeit this one was darker than her usual. His fingers brush against her shoulders, gently gliding over the fabric of her shirt. He ensures his jacket remains there, nice and perfectly. "It won't protect your whole body, but at least it can provide you some warmth."

Locket seems to pause for a moment. Then her hands begin to move. Not to adjust the jacket, but to simply touch the fabric as if to confirm it's there. It's like a part of her that was missing had just been reunited with her after a very long time. She felt more complete than ever before.

"It's fine! Don't worry, this is more than enough. I...appreciate it, Silver."

Her smile eases onto her face so naturally. It's easy to relax around him. It's the little things he does for her. How he treats her kindly and as if she were just any other, ordinary person. Back at home, she never got this kind of treatment. It was different back then. Stressful.

He'll never know just how much she appreciates it.

With a hum of her own, she steps to his side. She twirls a bit as if testing her new cape. It stays on, thankfully. It's like it was meant to be there all along.

"Well, we should head back, right?"

Silver nods as he takes a step toward the mirror chamber. He's a bit surprised to see her come along, although her presence isn't unwanted.

"Is there a reason you're heading this way?" He asks. Ramshackle was on campus, there would be no need for her to go this way. Unless... "Is...Ramshackle still not finished being repaired?"

Locket holds back a sigh but her face falls regardless. "It's still being worked on. I could stay in one of the rooms and I tried to, but the ghosts wouldn't let me. They shooed me out to go find a safer room on campus." She says with a light chuckle. Those ghosts always seemed to have her back.

"Where have you been staying then?"

"Pomefiore! They welcomed me there. Although I wasn't planning to stay there for too long..." She'd rather spend time in another dorm, but she wasn't in a position to be picky. It didn't help that most students could throw her out of the dorm if they really wanted to. While she may not mind a night out under the stars, she's certain that Grim would.

"I see..." Silver nods in thought. For a moment, his eyelids grow heavy. Sleep always tries to take him when he least expects it. But he can't allow himself to sleep, not now. A gentle hand touches his shoulder and that seems to do the trick. An apologetic look stems from him as he turns to Locket. "Sorry." He doesn't need to apologize, but he does anyway. It's become a bad habit that he could never truly shake off. "The ghosts must really care for you."

"They do! Me and Grim!" She replies. "I had to admit, I do miss being around them too. You should visit when it's repaired!"

Her eyes light up at the thought. She'd love for him to come to her home. Especially since it should be better than before. At least she hopes so. Anything would be better than having a large hole in the wall and allowing the outside forces in. Regardless of how her dorm turns out, she's looking forward to it despite not hearing his reply.

"I'd love to." Silver puts on a little smile. He truly would enjoy being at Ramshackle. It's a decrepit dorm, or it had been, but it had sprung to life thanks to her. It had her personal touch everywhere. He had to admit that he missed visiting it. "I'm sure you'll be back soon."

They continue to chat all the way up to the mirror chamber. Various topics come up, but it's mostly Locket speaking and Silver listening. He enjoys the sound of her voice. It helps keep him grounded and awake. And she doesn't mind telling him about her day or things she has planned. Especially if they involve him.

Silver almost hates that they have to part ways. Her presence is...warm. It's difficult to put into words, but he enjoys being around her more than he ever thought he would.

"You can keep the jacket," Silver tells her before she can begin taking it off. "In case it ever gets cold...it's yours to use."

He feels proud. He's happy to lend her something of his that she can use. It's almost embarrassing to feel this way, but he enjoys the feeling. He did something good for her and it makes his heart feel light.

Locket's hands waver on his jacket. For a moment, she considers taking it off and insisting he takes it back. It was his! And yet...a part of her wants to keep it. To have it around her every now and then and to enjoy the feeling of warmth she gets from it. It's nice and soothing and comforting. It reminds her of him.

"Thanks, Silver."

It makes her truly feel like she's at home.

War crime request for Danny?

hmmm im just gonna muse on one of my favorite bits of dannys Whole Thing in this fic, cuz he is

so, so many of dannys choices, once he gets to the mountain, are made out of misplaced jealousy.

yuta arrived there first, lived there for years, managed to solve at least a smidgen of the riddle, and wasn't hated, not even a little bit. he wasnt murdered because he was wrong or bad or deserving of death. he wasn't exiled. he wasn't pushed away. by all accounts, yuta succeeded at a great many things that no one had in hundreds of years.

and worst of all, bryan still talks about him. is still fond.

and danny had turned and walked the other way, all those years ago, when they left the village. he had gone and made his own way and his own life, and every question he asked of bryan was still answered through a lens of yutas merits. it's always "yuta said this" or "yuta thought that, too" or "don't do that, yuta would never forgive me if something happened to you." danny doesn't even have his own room in the ruin, and yuta has his own garden. not ever just the garden, always yutas garden.

in his eyes, his own story is still about yuta

and it's not, not to bryan. he simply knows what mistakes he made, and wishes not to repeat them. he fucks up in his own way, and doesn't give half the information he should, because he's an idiot.

but all danny hears is, i wish yuta were here instead.

even when he thinks he finds the answer, the one he finds is to spite yuta.

"I think I figured it out," he murmured, crouching before Yuta. "I think I solved the riddle, I found the answer to this curse, and you didn't. Ain't that funny? I wasn't even trying." Yuta didn't move and, for once, Danny didn't feel like trying to imagine what he would even say if he could. He'd lost his need for Yuta, either out of fondness or hatred. Danny had done what he couldn't, what need could he possibly have for the man who failed so spectacularly? "But I'm feelin' generous, so I'll let you in on the secret," he teased, giving a gentle, consoling pat to the hand clutching Yuta's still chest. "Nothing will break this curse. That was the whole fucking point. Bryan damned himself from the very start, killed the one person who could lift this curse. It'll only end when he dies."

thanks for answering my ask! i am starting to loooooove ur after life city au – it is already one of my favs fan aus so far!

the concept of this au is just creative and clever and interesting so far! like how u made the three clock keepers managing at different times of the day and having that steam-punk style is, ugh! the rest of the lords (and probs nene – i love akanene friendship) readying themselves to commit murder if someone hurts kyo is adorable! (and also him stealing random hearts to inspect them lmaoooo such an unhinged akane thing to do)

then there is shijima abusing her powers to create legit nightmares to those she thinks doesn't deserve it and rides on her paper airplanes cuz she doesn't want to walk – ugh, what a queen! (loving the sakumei crumb!) and mitsuba is hating his job, which kind of makes sense that he doesn't want to cooperate since he isn't a sadist and hates to see people suffer!

and the more i read, the more it makes me want to know the answers to these questions: how akane became kyo, like did he wander into the city after he died at the age of 12 and captured the hearts/the attention of kako and mirai? how come he was declared missing and not dead..? and why is he searching for the key to his clock?; how did sumire and katakuri become no.6's assistants? is it because among the sacrifices to shinigami, these two are the ones who aren't ready/doesn't want to reincarnate?; who is sakura waiting for?; how did tsukasa become hanako's shadow?; what is the role of the minamotos here?; and what is the real reason for hanako in wanting the rest of the lords to work together?

The three clock keepers managing at different times was just a funny idea I got after the riddle of the Sphinx :DD (even if the riddle is the other way around with the kid at the beginning of the day and the old man at the end but shhht) I thought the idea was really fun and I am pretty sure AidaIro didn't choose an old man for the past, a young man for the present and a kid for the future for nothing :))

Kyo is just way too pure for this underworld they just don't understand XDD they feel like they need to protect him (and yeees I still wanted him to be like super blunt but in a happy way now XD)

And I am happy to see you like the ideas with Mei and Sousuke too aaaah

For Amane and Tsukasa I already answered here if you want ^^

What's important to know is indeed what is the Minamotos role. They are descendant of the god of lighting who is the one who decided to banned some gods in the underworld and have the duty to protect the near shore. Yorimistu is the one who decided to give all this reincarnation job to the underworld, promising that if they behaved and did a good job the ancient beings there will be offered a day or two in the near shore sometimes to see the sun.

Teru and Kou are the sons of the Minamoto chief and have learned all their lives how to get rid of supernaturals who end on Earth sometimes (it kinda work as Tartarus in the greek mythology, the monsters never die they just come back after some times). So they are still exorcists in this au.

And they will get involved into this mess because some reports said that several souls never got to reincarnate properly despite being able to go to the After Life city. So they will have to go in it as a official trip between the two shores (because the dad doesn't have the time to go). Hanako is the one who is in charge of keeping touch with them and he HATES them (and if you read the stuff about Hanako and Tsukasa you definitely know why :')), the feeling is reciprocated.

They don't have that much informations of the far shore, because a lot of books about it got burned several time, a lot of History have been lost between time. So there is a lot of misinformations. They think all the supernaturals there are evil and just trying to get rid of humans. When they wil get ready to go as 'princes' of the Near shore, they will be accompagnied by an Akane girl who said want to act as their guards (with one of her friend, who is only human but will just send a kind of flying robot to go there (that's Lemon, I just wanted him in this au yep that's all so he has a robot yes don't ask)). Since the Akane and Minamotos Family have a long history together they will accept. (You all get that this is Aoi, but she wants to go there definitely not to protect the Minamotos but to take care of some personal business :) and Lemon is here because he is her best friend)

One of the big misinformation the Minamotos have are about the relationships between the Akane, the Katakuri (I will call them this since I have no idea what is his last name) and the Minamotos. In the recent texts it is said that they are special families who always worked together, so Kou and Teru believe that. But this is absolutely false. Several centuries prior, the Minamotos (still not having the right history because the stuff between the Gods happened millenials ago, only some people from the Far shore know the truth) afraid of the increasing number of supernaturals, started to use humans sacrifices to appease the Far Shore. It didn't really work but they didn't stop. They only stopped once Yorimistu was here and started to give a real jobs to the Far Shore (they didn't have this reaincarnate job before him) Only two were able to stay in the far shore at this time, Sumire and Katakuri who were raised as sacrifices all their life. Their hatred of the Minamotos and the humans were what got the attention of Shinigami who offered them to stay as supernaturals to help him. Even if it had been centuries they are still really angry about their human situations :)) and will deifinitely use what they can to make the Minamotos pay for what they did.

Sakura is waiting for someone to take her place as the next princess to then become the queen. That's what the previous queen did with her. Normally the Lords know this because this procedure already happened, but they don't have the best memories having lived for millenials in the dark for some. Only some remember but they aren't the ones who will talk :)) (and I let you guess who she is really waiting for ahah)

And for Akane that's exactly as I said, He didn't get declared dead because he went missing :) He indeed took the attention of Mirai and Kako but when he was alive I let you guess what happened after (you can go check Part 1 if you want there is some info there eheh 👀👀)

Kyo is sure that he will be able to feel other things than being just happy all the time if he finds the key of his lock. He learned that locks are meant to protect something so he wants to find the key (he is kinda simple minded ahah)

Hanako want the rest of the Lords to work together I am pretty sure you can understand what for with all the infos now 👀 The gates between the near and far shore are rarely opened for everyone (some supernaturals can go there but not that much, Mirai and Kako can, Tsuchi can too but never go and Yako too but she doesn’t care either. And they have tons of paperworks to fill and all/ they are considered the least dangerous of the Lords so that's why) but since the Minamotos will need to come to check some things, they will have to be opened at least twice :))

espeon - i wanted to give all the dorm leaders an eeveelution. i think i wouldve given him flareon alternatively, tho i ended up giving that one to idia lol

tsareena - i have this one for both riddle and vil for the queen™ vibes. probs fits riddle a bit closer bc of the whole heartslabyul garden + plant pokemon vibe

roserade- self explanatory, roses! this was a line i have for all of heartslabyul, like if they were a gym and riddle was the gym leader- trey + cater have roselia and ace + deuce have budew, to follow how in some pokemon gyms in the games, the people you battle before tend to all mostly have some of the same pokemon, and then the gym leader has the final evolution or whatever.

polteageist - again, self explanatory with the heartslabyul tea parties!! [i dont think i thought to give anyone sinistea... HMMM 🤔]

shaymin - ok mostly i tried to avoid too many special pokemon like that, but i mean. cmon. how could i not LOL it’s riddle! it’s a hedgehog that looks like it was born from your garden!!! i simply had no choice.

galarian rapidash - ok i. i dont remember why i chose the galarian form specifically for riddle lol. tbh the fact that i havent given riddle a fire type at all is a crime - although actually?? when i first started this doc now that i think about it, i think i WAS initially going with like, dorms as gym vibes, so i was probably?? going with like a grass/fairy  vibe for heartslabyul, but still added extras in there if i felt they fit the character best. so maybe i picked that one bc fairy type lol. and it pretty 😌 but perhapeth i’ll add regular ponyta too or something, bc riddle deserves some fire. anyway it’s there for the equestrian club rep. i gave silver galarian ponyta and sebek regular ponyta i think bc the vibes fit them better for like, aesthetic, but now that im typing this why didnt i give the one that becomes fairy type to sebek, the part fairy guy. why didnt i give diasomnia more of a fairy vibe [theyre probs my least unified choices lol i was doing more personal ones by the time i got there]

anyway got off track from riddle

goldeen - cuz of floyd’s goldfish nickname lol. but also specifically goldeen bc goldeen has like, a queen-esque motif to the design, and also goldeen is known to be powerful and a bit temperamental despite the graceful elegant looks. [tbh would also fit vil but i was tryin not to give them too many of the same pokemon lol]

mankey - cuz it is small and prone to fits of anger lol, did not fit the vibe of the rest of the team but like. again. the description of the pokemon’s behavior was too on the nose to ignore

cherrim [overcast form] - uhhh. ok i THINK this was another pick based on unification as a gym, bc i gave cater cherrim in sunshine form, and trey has cherubi. i THINK my reasoning was like cater - presents himself as more extroverted and friendly riddle - lived a  sheltered life and is a bit more closed off in terms of i guess making connections with others [i cant say closed off emotionally bc he Expresses Big Feelings pretty often fdjksfl] trey - maybe i gave him the baby form bc he’s like the Big Brother type? both to his actual siblings and to the younger students? and yeah i know cherrim changes with the weather so it doesnt super make sense LOL but again. was picking for vibes a lot of the time so dont think about it too hard fjkldsjfls

ANYWAY. that’s what i currently have for riddle!!! but i’ll still sometimes open up the doc and change/add more bc truly i am never free from pokemon aus as a concept. i love the personalization aspect of it all, and also i think it is fun to imagine my blorbos with little guys to hang out with :D

Huh, I'm surprised at your relatively (for lack of a better word) sympathetic headcanon toward Mrs. Rosehearts. Most people I've seen decry her as irredeemable and prefer Riddle get as far away as possible as fast as possible. I don't mean to interrogate you but is there a reason why you like Riddle and his mom attempting to fix their relationship over him just dropping her like she probably deserves?

Probably cuz I read My Hero Academia and have seen Encanto a bunch of times, and kinda see Mrs Rosehearts charcater in a similar manner to the characters of Endeavor and Alma. Mostly Alma as her and Mrs Rosehearts actions were driven by a sense of love and pride for their family name rather than actually making sure their family was happy. In the case of why I think she and Endeavor are similar, she did techinally abuse Riddle, but not to the extremes that Endeavor raised his kids, she mainly prevented Riddle from hanging out with kids his own age thinking they'd be a bad influence on her son while depriving Riddle of a childhood and basically controled everything Riddle did without giving Riddle a chance to be a child.

I think she could have a second chance cuz after Riddle's overblot, I feel like her reaction to that would indicate if she should have a second chance to try and reconcile with him, and since we don't know how she reacted, and as far as I remember, Riddle hasn't brought up what happened after he went back home for winter break, I want to believe that the overblot incident made her realize something along the lines of, "oh no I failed my son". Cuz with the info we got about her in game, she really didn't have a hatred towards Riddle, just a corrupted sense of love, so if she really cared about Riddle's well being she'd probably want to apologize him. It won't be this magical fix either, I think it would take time, and I think exploring the possibility of Riddle and his mother trying to mend their relationship is more interesting than just him cutting her off forever. Like his mom isn't perfect either, just like most of the other characters in the game, and I feel like a good sign of Riddle growing as character would be for him to try to talk with and confront his mother.

Unlike Idia and Ortho's parents...I wouldn't give them a second a chance. Not to spoil too much about Chapter 6 to those who haven't caught up yet, but I think The Shrouds are way worse than Mrs Rosehearts given the story so far.

As soon as requested this trophy be his before these guys die and we agree it's a good idea it's a trophy that's given to electric vehicle designers and manufacturers and really it's for people who produce them successfully and it's for making a vehicle that is usable. “Ooh, Heartslabyul What made you pick that one over the others?”

“It was a difficult choice!” Rook confessed with a deep, dramatic sigh. “Every dorm has its unique charms! However, Heartslabyul was the one that called out to me the loudest.”

“Like, it vibed with you the best?”

“Oui.” Rook nodded, a radiant smile spreading across his face. “Though I am content with following our beautiful Vil, I feel that I could also serve well under the leadership of Heartslabyul’s queen. Roi des Roses is a very particular individual, so my eye for detail may be of value to him. Heartslabyul also keeps for flamingos and hedgehogs—and I would be able to lend my animal expertise in caring for them. I would be more than happy to support him however I can.”

“Whoa, it’s nice that you’re thinking of how you can help others, Rook!” Kalim beamed. “Come to think of it, Riddle and Vil are similar. They’re both kind of strict, but they’re also really hard working and smart!”

“Roi d’Or...! You understand!!” Rook happily clasped his hands together. “Truly, they are deserving of their titles, of carrying on the spirits of Queen of Hearts and the Beautiful Queen themselves!”

“It’s cuz those two are really amazing. I can see just how much they shine. It’s prettier than any gold or jewels my family has.” Suddenly, Kalim’s smile faltered. “Sometimes it’s hard to believe that we’re all Dorm Leaders.”

“... Whatever do you mean?” Sensing the shift in Kalim’s mood, Rook adopted a more serious tone.

“Riddle and Vil have done a lot of great things. They’re also really great students and leaders! Compared to that, I’m entire worlds apart. I have average grades, and I have trouble paying attention in class, and waking up on time. I just want everyone to be happy and have fun, but I don’t always know the best way to lead them.”

Kalim laughed—but instead of boisterous, it came out weak. “It feels like I’ll never be able to catch up.”

“Kalim-kun... I don’t believe that’s true at all. You are a Dorm Leader that stands on the same level as any other. You sparkle in your own way—so don’t compare yourself to others. Look within yourself, find your own light, and cultivate it.” Rook playfully tapped a fist against Kalim’s arm. “Then you find that beautiful shine that you seek.”

“My shine...”

“Just like at our VDC training camp, Roi d’Or. All it takes is polish, and anyone can become a precious stone.” Rook slipped a hand over his heart, allowing his voice to rise and reverberate. “I’ll definitely give you that brilliant shine🎵 The power to make others kneel, you will have it too🎵”

“Ah...! That song is...” Kalim’s face flooded with recognition. “It was a really fun time. I loved rehearsing with everyone, and performing on stage. If I keep trying hard and practicing, do you really think I can shine even brighter?”

“Certainement. Why, I can see your spirit shining as we speak. Your kindness, your boundless optimism... They are a few of the things that make you stand out!”

Kalim burst out laughing. “Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better!! But you know something, Rook? I can see yours too.”

“Hmm?”

“Your spirit shining.”

“Fufu. Is that so? I’m very fortunate to find myself where I am, surrounded by such beauty day after day! Perhaps that makes me selfish—I want to see others sparkle so that I may be dazzled by their blinding light. There is no greater joy in my life.”

“Gahahah! I don’t really get all of that, but if it makes you happy, then I’m happy for you too! If there’s anything I can do to help you out, just say the word. I want to make you sparkle, too!”

“If I may, there is one thing... The matter of the birthday blessing!”

“Oh yeah! I’ve still got to pie you! Hang on, I’ll go grab them real quick...!” Kalim scrambled to a table, digging through elaborate platters of appetizers to retrieve two clouds of whipped cream.

“I will warn you,” Rook called after him, “the first hit will be free. After that, there is no promising that I will not dodge or retaliate.”

SPLAT!!

He wasn’t quite sure if his words ever fully reached Kalim’s ears. The Scarabia student was a blur of cheer and movement, a pie hitting Rook square in the shoulder as he finished his sentence. Whipped cream scattered across Rook’s jacket—like petals haphazardly plucked from a rose.

Sweet and fleeting, all at once.

“Happy birthday, Rook!” Kalim chirped, brandishing a second pie. “I hope the next year’s full of lots of beauty for you!”

“My thanks for the well wishes, Roi d’Or.” Rook stealthily stepped back, hitting another table. A hand snaked behind him, seizing his own pie. “But, if you will indulge me for one last time for this special occasion... Let us duel!!”

“You got it! Let’s dance...!”

Following their declarations, lies went sailing through the air. Flying from all directions and accompanied by howling and shrieks of laughter, it was, at times, difficult to tell who was throwing which. Still...

No matter how much whipped cream coated their skin or their clothes, their shining never once dimmed.

Yes, Rook was very fortunate indeed to be in the midst of it all.

I just thought of a what if scenario:

One of the villains thinking that kidnapping Yuuken instead of Yuu as a change of pace,

One because of how he's the Prefect theory, and the other one is totally not cuz they're jealous or anything haha

Shenanigans ensues, whether they're bad or not..

Yuuken just stares up at the supervillains in defiance, totally unintimidated and slightly too large for the chair Yuu’s usually kept in.

He doesn’t respond to their quips as wittily as Yuu does, probably because he knows that they would easily be able to identify his voice as the Prefect’s if he spoke too much.

Riddle declares that Yuuken must be punished for the crime of not looking after his partner properly and letting himself get kidnapped, and proceeds to sit down and eat an entire strawberry tart in front of the cameraman, getting irritated when Yuuken points out he’ll get a stomachache later.

Leona says he’ll pay Yuuken to leave the city and never return, then tries to get Jack to beat him up when the cameraman refuses...except he didn’t anticipate that Yuuken and his minion would have so much in common and are now comparing their preferred running routes through the city.

Azul tries to get him to sign a contract that states Yuuken will go free if he breaks up with Yuu and never sees them again for the rest of eternity, and then sulks when Yuuken still won’t sign it even after Floyd’s threatened, tried, and given up on squeezing him.

Jamil attempts to subtly fish for personal details about Yuu’s greatest hopes, fears, dreams, and favorite foods so he can modify the lair’s traps properly, only to be stymied when Yuuken tells him to just ask Yuu himself and closes his eyes against Snake Whisper.

Vil keeps making snide remarks about how poorly Yuuken handles his camera and the recording equipment, telling him that Vil’s little potato deserves better than a blundering pumpkin, only to sputter when Yuuken points out that if he were truly that bad, he’d be out of a job.

Idia interrogates him about how he pulled someone as rare as Yuu into a relationship with him, then gets offended when Yuuken “rubs his high social link in his face” when Yuuken obligingly starts talking about how long he’s known Yuu.

Malleus tries to make small talk about gargoyles and asks Yuuken if there were to be a purely hypothetical wedding between Malleus and his child of man if Yuuken would like to be a maid of honor for Yuu.

Each supervillain is shocked when the Prefect suddenly appears to rescue Yuuken in the nick of time. But they thought he—

Ah, it was a body double all along wasn’t it? He was mocking them, pretending to be helpless like that. Next time, though, next time they’ll get him for sure, just you wait!

Meanwhile Yuuken is at home where Yuu is fluttering around him like a very concerned moth, enjoying being pampered with his favorite foods and shows after the traumatic experience.

Alright so, I still really like the potential of Rina but at this point, until Ricky figures stuff out, and dare I say, matures a little bit more (just a little bit--he needs to learn communication skills overall bless his soul), Gina really needs to find someone who will put her first. If that’s E.J. then hell yea, I’m all for it! 

I don’t hate Ricky. In fact, I like the writing for his character overall because it makes sense given everything he’s been through while in high school.

That being said, I don’t think I’ll ever really vibe well with Rini. They’re cute at times, but there’s nothing really substantial with them that is showing me legitimate character growth from both parties.

Debunking “Adrien is perfect”

  To voice a rather non-Marinette-like opinion of Adrien: He’s not perfect. He’s never been perfect. He has, in fact, been riddled with flaws from the very beginning. Part of the reason Chat Noir gets hate is because he serves to exaggerate Adrien’s flaws and make them more obvious, destroying the perfectionism façade. And the sooner Marinette tosses the “I love the perfect Adrien” filter in the trash where it belongs, and starts actively recognizing and acknowledging his faults, the better off the endgame relationship will be.

 Long post is long and I don’t like cuts, cuz i’ve lost a few posts in the past using them. Please filter the tag “long post” I use it for walls of texts like these. 

First of all, flaws are just one of the many things that happen when someone either learns something the wrong way, spends too much time in the wrong environment, lack any decent role models... really there are a plethora of causes. What i mean is character shortcomings aren’t necessarily reasons to hate the character themselves. They’re more or less internal obstacles put there to be overcome in order to portray character growth. Of course spending an exaggerated amount of time with these characters without seeing them overcome particular shortcomings is frustrating it does not necessarily mean they will never be redeemed or developed and are/were deserving of hate.

 Except for Gabriel. That creature belongs behind bars.

 Most of Adrien’s flaws come from his toxic home situation:

The Miraculous Wiki puts Adrien at fifteen. Meaning Adrien has only been actively leaving the house (for public school and the occasional social get-together) for about a year. His fourteenth birthday was one of the earliest episodes and im assuming his fifteenth birthday happened off screen between the s3 finale and the new york special.

Regardless the majority of his life was spent in isolation and his only company was his immediate family, Nathalie, Felix and Chloe. None of whom are particularly good role models except for Emilie. Maybe.

He’s rather overworked for a 14 y.o. boy. On top of school, he has fencing, piano and Chinese lessons. This leaves him with very little time for himself. 

He lost his mother. In Feast, Adrien expresses Emilie was a source of joy in his life--”Only Mom can make me laugh like that.” Felix marked the one year anniversary of her disappearance.  Worse still, we’re led to assume all Adrien knows is that Emilie disappeared. Did she abandon him? Was she kidnapped and killed? He doesn’t know. He has no closure regarding her absence. 

On top of losing his mother, his only remaining parent is an emotionally manipulative and abusive prick. Gabriel has denied Adrien a birthday party, threatened to take Adrien out of school just because he can, never lets him have friends over for any reason, hardly ever makes time for Adrien and only once in a blue moon will actually sit and eat a meal with the poor kid.

And on top of all of this he’s not out of the woods yet. He’s still living with his abusive father. He’s still not allowed to see his friends outside of school much. He’s still got a packed schedule. He still doesn’t have closure regarding his mother’s “disappearance.”

Looking at it like this paints Adrien in a rather sympathetic light.

 Marinette doesn’t know Gabriel is Hawk Moth either, but she does understand Adrien is lonely, isolated and in need of a source of love and comfort. She also understands to some degree that his heart is delicate, so she constantly handles him with kid gloves and looks on him with a perfection filter. 

We see how Mari reacts to upsetting Adrien in Malediktator when she softly whispers an apology after Adrien expresses his sorrow over everyone celebrating Chloe’s departure. She’s seems pained and distraught over causing him to be upset. Thus the reason Marinette calls Adrien perfect isn’t that she never sees any of his flaws--she just cannot acknowledge or process them under these conditions. Shes too busy trying not to hurt him. She also has shown some signs of having extreme anxiety, which messes with ones head and makes it difficult--nearly impossible--to think straight. She wants to be the source of love and comfort he desires (and already is in a way) so his faults go unprocessed.

But what are Adrien’s flaws?

1. He has trouble standing up for himself. 

He’ll take a stand for others.

 He stood up to Chloe on Mylene’s behalf in Horrificator and on Marinette/ Cheng Sifu’s behalf in Kung Food. He stood up to Lila in Oni-chan and Ladybug. He stood up to Gabriel in Simon Says--but as Chat Noir, not Adrien. 

There have only been two-ish instances of Adrien, not Chat Noir, standing up for himself. I say -ish only because he was kinda standing up for Lila in the first and Chloe in the second. 

First in Volpina he stood up to Ladybug for how she handled the situation with Lila. He personally believed she handled the situation poorly (which she did--there were/are serious consequences for that. still) and although he was kinda wishy-washy in conveying that it was only because he was scared of sounding too much like Chat Noir. Her partner. Her chief-of-staff. Who can and will call her out on such behavior. 

Second in Malediktator, when he more or less told Marinette she was wrong to be happy about Chloe leaving. Granted this was partly him standing up for Chloe, but aside from her—he, Adrien, was deeply upset chloe was leaving on such bad terms and made sure Marinette understood that. 

Abused children tend to be somewhat submissive/agreeable/etc. They have trouble speaking out when they’re uncomfortable or don’t want something or think a particular action is wrong. Usually because they are anticipating some kind of punishment for speaking out or afraid of offending the other person to the point that said person wants nothing to do with them anymore, or both.

 For Adrien to fix this particular flaw, he needs to prioritize himself and his own wants more. However he also needs someone who doesn’t chastise him for doing things he likes, tending to his own needs and setting boundaries. Kagami is not that person--she’s actually quite demanding of him and cold. Her understanding of relationships isnt great either, which is why these two really aren’t that great for each other. 

2. He puts his faith in the wrong people

  Adrien’s fucking household is about as toxic as it can get (please don’t take this as a challenge, S4). On top of his immediate family consisting of his abusive, toxic, terrorist father, there’s his cousin Felix. Felix who squished cheese under Adrien’s pillow, stole his phone, pretended to be him and sent an outrageous and awful video to his friends. 

 There’s also his mother Emilie whom, despite his love and adoration of her, lied to him for who knows how long and messed around with a broken miraculous to the point it forced her into an indefinite coma and left Adrien at his father’s mercy. There are theories that she did this for her family but nothing concrete or canon has been proven--all we know is that Emilie had been having frequent dizzy spells while she was still awake and using the peacock miraculous, and that she anticipated her fate and Gabriel apparently promised to save her.

There’s Lila, as well. “She’s not dangerous. She just craves attention.” Wrong, Adrien, she’s very dangerous. She is conspiring with your father to spy on you, attempted to get Marinette expelled from school, tricked you into leaving Ladybug alone with a supervillain whom she personally requested to kill Ladybug, pinned Marinette against a bathroom wall and almost got her akumatized, actually got Marinette akumatized and nearly cost you both the Ladybug Miraculous and TIkki. She isn’t just dangerous she is an actual threat, whether or not she is the future Hawk Moth who sent Timetagger after you when you were children with time-sensitive powers. Adrien has a slightly better understanding of that after the events of Ladybug and Oni-chan, so hopefully he will be on his guard at least in regards to Lila.

 The reason for Adrien’s overly trusting nature may lie in the fact that literally everyone closest to him, everyone for the first thirteen years or so, was toxic and/or a liar. You know what happens when you can’t trust anyone around you? You live with it. You accept all these bad people as they are, without making any effort to establish healthy boundaries. Adrien certainly lived with it--how’s an abused, isolated boxed-and-sheltered son supposed to know what healthy boundaries are when he’s lacking any healthy connections? I bet he can just barely endure all the anguish but he can’t stand to be alone so he just tolerates it. Not to mention the most guilty is his father. Where else is he supposed to go?

Like a frog sitting in a pot of water, you don’t realize you’re in trouble until the water is too hot. So you just accept it--all the bad feelings--you accept it, live with it and it still hurts but you rarely complain. Because anything is better than being alone. 

I think Adrien understands, deep down, that the love he is clinging to, the love provided by his relatives, isn’t really there. But if he looks at it too long and lets this knowledge sink in he’ll lose it. He really did lose it in Chat Blanc-- just that sky-crashing-down-on-him realization that he didn’t have his fathers love, hadn’t had it for a long time, just completely ruined our boy. 

 Of course the knowledge is there. It’s literally right there in front of his face and it’s only a matter of time before he is forced to turn and look and face the music. At which point I hope Marinette knows who he is and has a plan to save him otherwise Chat Blanc is just going to happen again. 

3. Yes, he takes the flirting too far sometimes

No--that doesn’t make him toxic.

Yes, Adrien overreacted to Ladybug never showing up in Glaciator. He shouldn’t have been upset with her in Frozen for not accepting the rose. He should have told her the damn truth about being forced to leave the city at the same time she was in the New York special. 

 However, he also apologized for overreacting in both Glaciator and Frozen. And again, abused kids live in anticipation of punishment for their mistakes. Adrien’s father has taught him that the slightest mistake can result in loss of freedom or trust, even if its circumstances beyond his control. And he now understands that Ladybug isn’t going to blindly punish him for being honest with her, which he now knows to do. 

 He makes mistakes, apologizes for them, and learns from them. That’s not fucking toxic--it’s natural, human and allowed. 

 He’s flirty and suggestive, yes, but the minute she signals she doesn’t want it or isn’t feeling it he stops. He has had immense trouble with not flirting with her, despite her telling him she isn’t interested multiple times. That much is true. But he truly and deeply cares for her and he would never force himself on her and it isn’t because he knows she’ll kick his ass if he does. It’s because unlike the vast majority of his family, he’s actually a decent human being. 

 He has even begun to “flirt platonically,” toasting their partnership and friendship rather than offering a romantic relationship she can never say yes to. If that isn’t the most soft and respectful fluff I don’t know what is.

 4. He is leading Kagami on

Did he cheat? I’m actually not sure. Thomas is being vague in his tweets and won’t give us a decent answer (because he likes “watching fandom burn”--i mean MOOD but clarify please). 

 Here’s what we know and have observed: 1. Chat Noir told Ladybug “I have a girlfriend” 2. He immediately followed that up with “It’s not good at all. I just said that to make you jealous”  3. He allowed Kagami to kiss him in the new york special 4. but he has trouble telling girls not to touch him--been a problem since episode one. Yes its generally cheek kisses chloe gives him but sometimes its not and he looked downright uncomfortable in a lot of cases of physical contact with her and with Lila 5. he seemed rather comfortable with kagami kissing him--except he did say no to her kissing him in the finale 6. but he’s also trying to move on from Ladybug and be with Kagami  7. If he were in a relationship with Kagami, he’d likely keep it a secret because both of their parents are controlling of them and may not allow it 8. His understanding of relationships and girls is kinda dreadful due to not having his mom around for advice and his father’s general lack of a concept of what healthy romantic relationships and boundaries are, and, as Nino put it, not being able to understand signals very well

Adrien’s current relationship status is up in the air. I’m about eighty percent certain he’s dating Kagami--but there’s still that twenty percent chance he’s not.

 Putting aside the question of whether or not he and Kagami are official, Adrien’s been attempting to move past his feelings for Ladybug. Which--won’t sugarcoat it--he kinda sucks at. At the same time, Kagami is aware he is in love with another but lacks the understanding that his moving on will take time. 

 The main issues here is that Adrien knows who he wants but can’t have her. Kagami is a wonderful person herself and he wants to get to know her better, but they aren’t really a good match and they are both going to get hurt in the end (Love Victor anyone???). Until that happens we are going to have some questionable moments in the show, and we just need to remember that Adrien is a child with a poor understanding of relationships, and not an evil person. Kagami doesn’t necessarily have a great understanding of them either--”Your indecision hurts me Adrien,” “Adrien you and I are perfect for each other!”--and she has flaws of her own she needs to unlearn. 

 For the time being, Adrien is leading Kagami on (it needs to be said--even if they aren’t dating he’s flirted with her, given her roses etc.) I say leading her on because, no matter how much Adrien believes Marinette is just a friend and they weren’t flirting in New York, loyal boyfriends who wish to be monogamous don’t dance with other women.

 Or look this happy when that other woman touches them

Does this make Adrien a deceitful and hateful character? No. Does this make him an unworthy character? No. It makes him an abused child with little to no concept of healthy relationships. 

Also Adrien’s friends, including Marinette, have no reason to believe he is dating Kagami. They know he is interested in her and she in him, but as Nino said, Adrien has a hard time picking up signals and understanding their meaning. Not to mention the boy is fifteen. Flirting skills, understanding boundaries, and other relationship concepts are a challenge even for ordinary fifteen year olds in healthy environments to grasp--case in point: Marinette.

Adrigami and Lukanette are simply not going to end well. The Love Square is the endgame and ultimately both Lukanette and Adrigami are going to fall apart to make that happen--I knew that going into the possible Adrigami and Lukanette  territory that the finale created.

 Kagami is a strong, intelligent person--she’s likely going to be the one to end it given what we’ve seen. I don’t like to think about what might happen then--she may be akumatized and Chat Noir would feel rather guilty and may not be able to fight her. But they will both come out of it with something they needed--Kagami will understand (as Marinette needs to) that Adrien isn’t her perfect soul mate incapable of making mistakes. Adrien will understand relationships better. 

 Its unfortunate that this has to happen in order for Adrien to learn due lessons, given that he actually does have someone who can talk to him about girls and relationships and loyalty: Nino.

 Given what Nino wasted no time in scolding Mari for spying on Adrien and Lila when she confessed doing so in Chameleon, as well as how he treats Alya, I undoubtedly believe Nino would be the one to come out and say “You can’t dance with Marinette when you’re with Kagami.” 

 Assuming he is with Kagami. 

In conclusion: Adrien is flawed but not deserving of hate. He is a traumatuzed child stuck in a toxic household who lacks proper mentors. Marinette, Alya and Nino are out of the loop about his potential relationship with Kagami. And Marinette and Kagami both need to acknowledge Adrien is imperfect. Nino and Adrien need to do guy talk like two seasons ago. 

Also Marinette probably has some intense anxiety issues. But more on that later.
