Rundown on my AU Earth-1987

Heavily based around New Earth.. a continuation in a sense accept for a few changes

-Bart Allen is the big resurrection instead of Barry, Conners resurrection in Legion of 3 Worlds stays intact Bart continues as the flash and gets the title but keeps his impulse and old personality unlike fastest man alive, Wally gives him a made up oath and goes goes to retire to be a dad and raise the twins, Bart is unsure of his New position.. he reconnects with Carol Bucklen..

-Roy Harper continues as Red Arrow Cry of Justice simply does not happen and Lian is still alive, he will even go on to join the Justice League

-The Justice League will be very much led by Dick Grayson the line up will consist of

-Nightwing, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Troia, Red Arrow, Jade, Obsidian, The Atom (Ryan Choi), The Flash (Bart Allen), and a New Green Lantern (Terry Berg) more on him later, Firestorm (Ronnie/Jason), Kendra Saunders(Hawkgirl) and Cyborg(Victor Stone)

-Titans will mostly consist of the YJ characters except Bart the line up will consist of Red Robin, Sentinel (Kon-El) he will now move on from the superboy moniker and become his own hero, Fury(Cassie Sandsmark) will be trained by Lyta Trevor the Fury of the newly reformed Earth Two and the daughter of Wonder Woman and Steve trevor her and Conner will be dating once again, Ravager (Rose Wilson), Red Devil(Eddie Bloomberg), Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes), Static (Virgil Hawkins), Aquawoman(Lorena Marquez)

-Gar and Raven will join JL Dark along with Zatanna and others

-Batman: Batman will run batman incorporated Duke Thomas will be in this canon and will have met batman during no man's land as opposed to Zero Year, he will be Cass' best friend and will become The Signal, Gothams day protector unlike main continuity he will not be in the Batfamily, he will be his own unique hero, Jason Todd will have his pre crisis origin and hair color.. controversial ik.. but for the sake of preference that will be so, he will be an anti-villain crime boss controlling the drug trade, him and Bruce won't be at odds with each other, he simply does not approve of the path Jay has taken and it saddens him, Jay cares about Bruce too.. but he has chosen this life he will still be with Scarlet, Stephanie Brown will still be Batgirl, Barbara will still act as Oracle, Joker will have the doll maker remove his face and the court of owls will be introduced as Justice League villains instead of batman villains, they will very much be a worldwide illuminati type organization Damian will still act as Robin the bat fam will just be smaller and have Bruce, Dick, Damian, and Steph

-Green Lantern: Hal Jordan will marry Carol and Kyle Rayner will lead the corps, the mythos will be explored more, Terry Berg will be given kyles ring after kyle becomes a white lantern, Terry is Kyle Rayners assistant in Winicks run he will become The fifth earth lantern, kyle and Terry will get more bonding moments.. Kyle and Jade will get back together and marry for real this time, Terry's character will be explored more

-Superman: Kal will lead the Supermen of America a new team, Chris will be living with Clark and Lois again, he will be attending college classes with Thara and will be best friends with Duke Thomas, their dynamic will be like a swapped version of batman and superman.. Chris being the more serious super and Duke being the lighthearted bat, Chris will be able to control shadows and darkness, Duke controls light, him and Thara will be members of the JL Dark, Thara will assume the civillian identity, Claire Connor Lang acting as Karas sister, Kara Zor El/Linda Lang will still be living with lana and be on her last year of high school she will meet and team up with Linda Danvers her predecessor and they will quickly become friends, Conner will still be in Smallville now going to school at Kansas State.. the same college Chris goes too Kon will see him as a brother/Cousin, and they will be a duo in themselves they will all deal with the repercussions of zods war on earth

-The JSA: It will very much feature mostly the children and grandchildren of the jsa.. the remaining founding members will pass on.. except Jay and Carter Jay will act as mayor of NYC quitting the team giving guidance when needed, the JSA Hawkman will continue on with the JSA

Flash: Bart Allen will now be the main flash.. he will not be so sure he can do it again.. he failed.. he died.. and failed.. he will reconnect with his old friends in Manchester now all adults, him and Carol's relationship will spark, now working for Star Labs, Bart will get a job as a reporter at Picture News with Iris and we will see their relationship more Rival will return still possessing Max's body he will be the first big bad and it will give Bart and Max the closure they deserve, him and Bart will speak in the speed force where he will call him son before passing on, we will establish his rogues, the old rogues will still be on, barts old villains will hoin in too including White Lightning, Irey will become Barts Kid Flash

Wonder Woman: Diana will be working for the government and working to rebuild themysciras connection to earth, the amazons tactics have changed no visitors are welcome, Cassie will unleash her Olympian abilities more, she will cross over to earth two and meet Hippolyta Trevor the Daughter of Earth Two Wonder Woman, she will take on the name Fury, while Donna has uncovered a prophecy.. depicting the rise of an old God long defeated known as Typhon the Enemy of the Gods

Green Arrow: Ollie will still be married to Dinah, Robert Queen II will join the arrow family, Roy will gain a bigger role, Olivia Queen will be born

Aquaman: Arthur will retire with Mera, Garth will now be the king of atlantis, but he will not be the Aquaman.. Koryak will be the new Aquaman, a more brutal aquaman, although meaning well, it will feel like a tale of two brothers, Garth and Koryak will constantly butt heads.. Dolphin and Cerdian will be revealed to have not died but survived the destruction of atlantis in infinite crisis having been taken by atlan, Cerdian will have aged to 10 having been in the pocket dimension with atlan so long... the family will be reunited at last.. Cerdian will become Aqualad

Captain Marvel: Billy and Mary go on a quest to get their powers back which they do successfully, Freddy and Kit Freeman reunite the long lost freeman Brothers together at last they go on a journey through hell together

what stuff can't you forgive batman beyond for? :o

Ugh OK. Disclaimer that none of these things make Batman Beyond bad. None of this is bad writing. I just don't like it. It's fine, actually, I just hate it.

I know Batman Beyond had to justify its existence somehow and answer the question "why is the ONLY PERSON who could become Batman a random teenager off the street?". There had to be some sort of reason why Bruce was completely isolated from Dick, Tim, and Barbara, and why Dick or Tim wasn't Batman.

The ways in which it got rid of them though!! Dick's like 60 and he hates Bruce and never speaks to him! Barbara's a cop, which she would never do, who had a thing with Bruce. Superman's infected by Starro so all of his friends at the League are out. And freaking Return of the Joker, oh my god. Putting aside the fucking sadness of Tim also never speaking to his dad and living an entire life pretending Batman and Robin never happened. COME ON. I really didn't like the "Terry is Bruce's secret kid" thing either, but that's less of a moral and more of a personal stance.

Sometimes a work is the most influential work in your writing completely against your will and without your permission. Return of the Joker traumatized me as a kid, and for some reason although I hate it SO FUCKING MUCH, it's permeated a lot of what I write with Tim. His death in the Reverse Robins thing was directly what happened in ROTJ, except he killed himself instead of the Joker. And I never even get into much detail on Tim's death there because it makes me sad.

Batman Beyond, you did not stop to consider those of you who were watching every DCAU cartoon sequentially, and who had come fresh off watching the most adorable small child run around doing Robin things in the final season of BTAS. You did not stop to wonder if he was a baby only a week before in my own mind. And now this.

DCAU!Batman had always been a lighthearted, kind person who had a robust support network. He had shipteasing. With Wonder Woman. It was really sad to see every good thing in his life stripped away and turn him withered, bitter, and old. Showing Batman in that light isn't bad in and of itself, but I was attached to this guy :c. Why hadn't they just set up another continuity where these characters didn't exist so they didn't have to worry about depressingly shoving them aside?

Oh, and. Just kidding. I can forgive them for all of this. I hate it, but it's fine. What I actually cannot forgive them for is for fucking Bruce and Barbara having an affair. Oh my god. Oh my god. Bad. So bad.

“You look jealous,” Roy commented when he sidled up next to Jason.

“I’m not.” Jason’s grip on the knife handle in his hand tightened at his comment, but he kept his face impassive. You were chatting with Kyle Rayner over on the other side of the meeting room, a smile on your face. He didn’t know what Kyle Rayner could be saying that was so funny. The guy was kind of an arrogant prick. All Green Lanterns were their special brand of haughty, but there was just something about this motherfucker…

“You never had an issue with him before,” Roy continued. He kept his voice light and nonchalant, but Jason knew what his best friend was doing.

“You’re such a dick,” Jason grunted. His helmet was off, but his domino mask lenses hid the death glare he was sending to the fucking idiot talking to you. You were laughing. Laughing? Who did this guy think he was? The next great Netflix stand up comedian?

“Three,” Roy started counting down. “Two. One.”

Jason pushed off the wall and stalked towards you. He slid his arm around your waist as he approached, pulling you into him and baring his teeth in a sneering smile directed at Rayner.

“Spoiler called. She needs our help with something,” he said in lieu of greeting. You perked up at her name. Out of all of his siblings, you adored Cass and Steph the most. If she needed your help with a case, you were sure to leave as soon as possible.

“Sorry, but we have to go,” you explained to Kyle and then turned back to your boyfriend. “He was just telling me about what he and his boyfriend did for their three year anniversary. You should start being more romantic.”

“Yeah, yeah, nice chatting with you. Let’s go.” He steered you towards the Zeta tube as you leaned over his shoulder to wave goodbye to Roy. The redhead cackled at his best friend’s rapidly departing form. Not jealous, his ass.

I'm so obsessed with these 2 panels specifically because it directly does draw parallel between Steph and Jason (the only two who have died at this point) with the reference that "she was not the first to die". The part that is highlighted in Bruce's panels are also fascinating because is his overwhelming grief and anger over Steph ("Who really killed Stephanie Brown?"), Jason ("not the first to die"), both?

If it wasn’t for Dick that night, she would probably do something stupid. Like, really stupid, with capital s. For example, sink into depression and cry her heart out while watching sad movies and eating ice cream on her couch. Instead, the oldest Wayne offered her a shelter. A safe haven where she could break without any risk of being alone and getting herself down. He was such a good friend for her and honestly she could not even begin to imagine her life without him in it.

Golden boy truly was the term to describe him.

It was him that hugged her for hours, comforting her and eventually forced her to take a shower and put her to bed letting her sleep without interruptions. And on top of that he took her phone so neither Kyle not Jason would bombard her with messages, disturbing her peace. Instead he just kept on ignoring them, disconnecting the incoming calls and texts that were intensifying with every passing minute.

To put it simple, Y/N was disappointed in herself. She honestly had no idea who she was becoming and where all her rules went. She always thought herself to be the strong girl, who wouldn’t fall a stupid ass of a man and kick his ass the second he treated her unfairly or cruelly. And if cheating does not qualify into that, then what does? But instead, she just let Jason vamp her and … well, use her, no matter what he had to say about it.

And on the other side, there was Kyle. Clearly interested in her, there was no denying, but still an ass in so many aspects.  

He showed up on Grayson’s doorstep first thing the next morning, banging on the door, demanding explanations of what happened and waking Dick up and the Wayne was less than happy about that sudden disturbance. He had his own opinion on Kyle, but his instincts were telling him that no matter what, the lantern was not the one to ever hurt Y/N on purpose like his brother did. So, being chatty and only having her best interest at heart, gave him some vague information on the matter, asking Kyle to give her a few days to get back to mental health and to gather herself. And Rayner listened. Good thing, Dick didn’t tell him the whole truth, cause that would probably end with a bloodbath.

“Who was that?” her sleepy voice came from behind his back and he spun around only to notice his pale friend rubbing her reddened eyes and yawning.

“No one” he smiled at her “breakfast?”

„You are gonna go crazy thinking about him.”

“I am not thinking about him!”

“Sure not.” Stephanie took a sip of her drink, loudly, purposefully slurping through the straw to make Y/N angry.

“could you please stop that? You know I hate that sound.”

“You know what you need?” Steph’s eyes focused on Y/N pale and tormented face. Poor girl was caught in a trap, overthinking about what happened a few days ago, when by some crazy accident she and Jason met in that freaking diner and ….… well…..

Even the memory made her shiver. She just wasn’t sure if it was because of how good it was being with him again or because she hated herself for giving in so easily. He fucking cheated on her! But his hands and lips on her, caressing, touching in all the right places, so good, so perfect, turning her hot and needy and whiny, wanting him closer, faster, rougher, all of him… The way he was moving inside her, pleasuring her, not caring about who might be watching. No one before him has even made her feel so good and satisfy her so completely.

Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!

She literally felt like tearing her hair out.

She didn’t want him back.

She wanted him back.

Honestly, she had no idea what she wanted, getting confused and back into that spiral of hating herself cause of breaking her own rules.

 3 years of being together and he just went and destroyed it so carelessly. What if no one would ever love her again? What if he was the one? But could he be the one if he betrayed her like this? She really though she was over him, but apparently all that pain and fear and broken heart was just capably covered up by her brave face for the past months.

“Please, enlighten me” she hissed towards her friend, forcing her mind to focus on anything else than flashback of Jason’s muscles flexing under her soft touches when he was trapping her between the wall and his body, holding so close and getting her high. She was slipping. She was not strong. And yet, she was ignoring him, not falling into the circle of his apologies, promises and excuses. But ignoring his texts and calls couldn’t really work for long since he knew where she was living. And that’s why she was staying at the manor for the time being.

 “You need a rebound, sugar.”

“A rebound?” Y/N raised an eyebrow “Really, Steph? And what could possibly be that?”

“Who.” The blonde corrected, eyes absolutely innocent, but the smirk forming on her face far from that.

“I’m sorry, what?”

“Who could be the rebound. A person, Y/N. A male to be precise. Someone to help you get your mind off your failure of an ex-boyfriend.”

“Ok, fine, I’ll bite. Who?” Y/N spun around, put her hands on her hips in a power pose and faced her friend.

“Kyle, obviously.” Stephanie shrugged casually

“Are you insane? Kyle? The green lantern? The space cop?”

“He likes you. Bet he’ll be more than happy to help you.”

“Wait, he likes me? Girl, we are constantly bickering and arguing!”

“Seems like he’s your type than.”

“Ohmygod, you are crazy. I’m not going to sleep with Kyle!”

“do you have any other prospects? I mean, a stranger can be good for a one night stand too…..”

“STEPH! I am not going to hook up with anyone!”

“Whatever you say.” The blonde shrugged “But let’s go party tonight? Please? We can take Cass and Babs with us. Girls night out? It’s gonna be fun.”

“That I can do.” Y/N smiled lightly. She could use some good music, dancing and company of people who were standing by her no matter what.

“But you are not wearing pants!” Steph laughed and rushed out the door to steal all of Y/N’s trousers and prevent her from picking that outfit for a party.

Stephanie was good. After all she became Robin and then Spolier for something. Therefore, she skillfully and stealthy managed to retrieve what she wanted and left Y/N no choice but to actually wear a freaking skirt. Nothing extravagant, short or revealing, but still, it felt weird. Y/N could not remember the last time she felt so naked with her legs not fully covered by the material. Let alone, sitting and moving so that her underwear wouldn’t be put on full display.

“I hate it….” She mumbled, awkwardly trying to stretch the skirt to make it at least a bit longer.

“Stop whining!” the blonde grinned at her friend “you’ll be thanking me when it comes to some action with …..”

“STEPHANIE BROWN!”

“What? I’m just saying!”

“Oh God, please, just stop, all right?” Y/N rubbed her forehead. She just couldn’t deal with Steph’s direct approach. Too direct “I just want to have some good time with my girls. And maybe get drunk in the process.”

“Drinks on me!” Babs’s voice reverberated from behind as she and Cass approached their two friends. “Ready for party?”

“Yes, please, anything to get me away from Brown…..”

“Oh, you talk almost like Damian, Y/N. But I promise you, you’re not gonna get far from me tonight!” Stephanie laughed and linked her arms with Y/N’s as four girls walked to the nearest club.

“I’m just gonna go to the bathroom!” Y/N yelled trying to shout over the blasting music.

“You’re not going anywhere alone!” Babs screamed back at her. “I’m coming with you!”

“I’ll be fine, Barbara! It’s just the bathroom,  I’m not a toddler! Besides, someone need to keep an eye on our drinks, while Steph and Cass are having the time of their lives!” she pointed towards two girls moving wildly on the dance floor, completely indifferent to their surroundings. At least on the first glance, since after all they were vigilantes with heightened senses.  

“FINE!” Gordon relented under the pressure of logical arguments “but if you’re not back in five minutes…..”

“Are you serious!? It’s girl’s bathroom in the club! Standing in the queue will take half an hour!”

Barbara furrowed her eyebrows, opening mouth to say something, but Y/N ignored that completely, instead standing up and walking away with the brightest smile, forcing her friend to stay.

She  never made it to the bathroom.

It only took a few steps to bump into someone, and she instinctively muttered apologies, trying to pass the person, but a hand on her hips made her freeze.

“Hey there, Y/N. Fancy seeing you here.” Familiar voice spoke and only that characteristic tone made her look up.

“Kyle?”

“In person.” He flashed a smile, clearly feeling good. And looking good, as much as she hated to admit it. There weren’t many occasions when she could see him without his green lantern uniform, but this guy truly had a sense of style and wasn’t too flashy with that. Just jeans and T-shirt, but it was enough to bring out his best features and his toned figure. “Been a while since I saw you. How you’ve been?”

Y/N frowned, studying his every feature and body movement searching for the hidden agenda in his words. Side effect of being friends with Batkids, but that told her something was off in this entire situation. She just wasn’t sure what.

“Cut the crap, Rayner.”

“What crap?” he faked surprise and confusion and that made her change tactics, just for the hell of it.

“Sorry.” She muttered looking down again, glooming. “You’re right, I overreacted. Might be reading into signs that are not there ….. Sorry…..” she repeated, turning around and started walking away, but he quickly grabbed her wrist and stopped her.

“I missed you.” He confessed

“You what?!”

“I missed you. And I was worried. After Grayson told me what happened between you and Todd….”

“He told you!!??”

“Not much.” Kyle raised his hands in defensive gesture “just something about you getting hurt……”

“Since when are you two friends?!”

“Since when talking to someone make them friends?” he retorted

“Right…..” she bit on her lips. Nightwing or not, she was gonna kill Dick for babbling around. And to Kyle Rayner!

“Y/N.” he spoke uncharacteristically sweet “I’m not going to cause you any pain…..”

“What are you talking about?” she stuttered, suddenly forgetting about the urge to pee. This was not going in the way she planned. What the fuck was happening?

“I like you.” Kyle said, taking a step forward “I really do…..”

“No you don’t.” her eyes widened and she took a step back stumbling slightly but quickly regaining her balance. Why on earth was she always getting in trouble on the way to the freaking bathroom?!?! Barbara was right, she would never go to the restroom alone again in her entire life.

“Come on sunshine. Please, just give me a chance….”

“Is that why you are here? Were you following me or something like that?!”

“No.” he shook his head “it was Stephanie…..”

“Seems like I have two people to kill in the nearest future.”

“Don’t be mad at her. She’s just chatty. Just like Dick. I’m not asking for anything more than a chance to see where this goes. Not pushing anything. What do you say?”

She sighed deeply considering all the options. If anything wrong were to happen she was here with three vigilante girls. And she had some skills herself. Besides, what was the worst thing that could happen? She was young and fairly pretty and there was a handsome guy in front of her, practically begging her to take him for a test ride give him a turn.

“Oh, screw that!” she hissed to herself “fine, Rayner, I’ll let you prove yourself.”

“good choice, sunshine.” He grinned.

“Asshole…..”

“whatever you say, pretty.” That little nickname made her roll her eyes “come on, let’s have some fun.”

He took her hand and lead her onto the dancefloor, ready to show his moves to the upbeat song that was currently blasting through the speakers, but ironically, a few seconds after they entered, it changed into something way calmer and nostalgic. Like in freaking teenage rom-com.

“Too bad.” She mocked ready to sit down “I’m not slow dancing with you…..”

Before she could finish her sentence and form her every objection he grabbed her waist, pulling her close, the tight embrace preventing her from any struggle. At first, it took her by huge surprise, but once the initial shock passed, her hands involuntarily found a way towards his neck and locked there, her head resting on his shoulder. For some crazy reason she felt…. safe. Safe in his arms. Crazy, given the fact that she didn’t even know him for so long and he always showed his teasing and asshole-like side. But maybe he wasn’t lying? Maybe he really did like her? Maybe he wasn’t just playing around? She was too lost in her own head to notice that her friends were observing her swaying with Kyle, smiling lightly. Apparently, they knew better.

“You’re so tense….” He muttered, caressing her back gently “Why? What did he really do to cause you so much pain? To make you run away from me?”

“Artemis….” she whispered, hiding her face in his neck and he instinctively and protectively held her closer, suddenly realizing everything. Todd was a fucker for ever cheating, that was obvious, but Artemis? Rayner really though he knew her and only now he was finding out that the Amazon did the worst thing to the other girl. Broke another’s relationship.

Damn…..

Kyle might have been a bit of a cocky bastard with a pretense of a blown ego, but deep inside he was also a romantic, who never played around when it came to love. Sure, he had his fair share of one night stands and adventures, but at least he could differentiate between satiating his needs and actually feeling something for someone. And oh, he did felt for Y/N.

“I’m so sorry baby….” He cooed, caressing her back, feeling her lean into the touch. She was so hurt. So misused and broken. Probably asking herself all the stupid questions about herself and second guessing reality “It was not your fault.” He pulled back, still not letting her out of his embrace, one hand cupping her cheek and resting there while he looked her deep into her eyes. “You deserve so much more than that fu…..”

“Don’t finish this.” she pleaded putting a hand on his mouth, silencing him and the atmosphere suddenly became tense as they both realized how close they were and how well their bodies aligned.

Oh, shit…..

“Wanna get out of here?” he asked, lust blown eyes focused on her face.

“Yes…..”

Stephanie Brown was way more happy than she should when she saw them leaving together. Her plan clearly worked and all it took was a little push.

The lack of existence of, one-sidedness and toxicity of Tim and Steph's current "friendship"

So after Tim's UL thing many people are acting like he and Steph have now transitioned into "platonic besties" or something. Aside from the fact they have NEVER had this dynamic at all throughout their histoy, this write up will explain why the current 'friendship' of Tim and Steph after UL is pretty non-existant, one-sided and frankly kind of toxic.

The first thing to note which is what people use as "proof. Tim introducing Steph to Bernard.

People talk about how 'cute' or 'a sign of trust' it is, but they seem to be overlooking one crucial fact. Tim did it without even asking Steph first or telling her they would be meeting him.

Let's be honest introducing your ex to your new partner without telling your ex is a selfish move as while you may be over your ex, your ex may not be over you and it might be hard for them to see you with someone else so quickly, especially in this case as Tim just apologized for treating her badly via ghosting her and being a jerk to her. The fact the whole time Tim was planning to introduce her to Bernard even before he talked with Stephanie shows he was planning it without taking her into consideration at all and not giving her her own space to properly deal with things.

When Kyle Rayner met with Donna while with Jade after he and Donna's relationship ended on bad terms due to her ghosting him (it was because her son died BTW) and more or less ending the relationship in a way that hurt him a lot, he properly gave Donna a space to deal with it and didn't include Jade in it as he knew Donna as someone he loved a lot even if it was over needed his undivided attention here to deal with loose ends. He told Jade this before going to talk to Donna even.

So Tim comes off as incredibly selfish and unintentionally manipulative as he did this right after laying a lot on her with the apology, telling her why he ghosted her, and in public, doesn't give her really time to process things and puts pressure on her to just take it as a bad reaction in public would be bad but also after Tim laid this on her and they reconciled might alienate them even further which Stephanie didn't want as was shown by her attempts to mend things in UL and how much it hurt her.

And Tim not even bothering to even really ask her how she is doing or for her full perspective before doing this was also conceited as again he was ghosting her for a long time. All she did was just reiterate what we and the audience already know and he in the past has pushed Stephanie to express her feelings to him and be frank, so not even doing so and being satsified with her just saying what he already knew felt self-centered.

Not to mention Stephanie's entire reaction made her look like she has no self-respect as Tim:

A. dumped her without a reason

B. Acted like an asshole to her when she tried to help him

C, ghosted her

D. lied that she was ghosting him

E. Only apologized after he met her by accident (where he wished he wasn't there) and her life was in danger

F. Introduced her to his new BF after all this without asking her first while she is still getting over him as Batgirls annual showed

Like aside from clearly using her as a prop it is so bizarre. Introducing your ex to your new partner after all this and in the manner Tim did comes across as flaunting and Steph just taking it is so weird. Like knowing that she still isn't over him and combined with her normally low self-esteem (which Tim knows about) it makes it look like Steph feeling pressured (not necessarily by anyone in particular but by herself) to act supportive because she feels obligated to. Like the fact she hasn't even brought up she still isn't over him to Tim and just acted the way she does further makes it look like this, which again provides a pretty one sided dynamic that comes across as toxic.

This brings into how subsequent interactions again show Steph being this ultra supportive cheerleader but Tim not reciprocating anything really.

Like in issue 4 of Tim's solo, Steph ask's if things are okay with Bernard (of course she does will get to that later) and Tim doesn't even really reply and just moves things back to the case. In fact their interactions throughtout the issue are completely dry and strictly business related. Compared to when he interacted with Dick in issue 5 and opened up about his insecurities in branching out or Kate in issue 8 about the times they've bonded and other things, him being so dry with Steph feels odd. They have him say he "trust Steph and Cass" the most but everything is just business related and this "trust" is only vigilante wise it seems. Like he doesn't even ask Stephanie how she is doing or what's going on in her life. Given issue 2 Tim says he's worried about "ruining things like with Steph" or how in isuse 3 Tim claims he "loves that she's the most unpredictable person" (which was a pretty lackluster description/summation of her compared to how he summed up Dick as the "coolest person he knows" and Damian as his "brother" which fully captures what they mean to him. This description of Steph seems only like something vigilante related which is where her unpredictability comes from and again only an aspect of it) him treating her so drly and professional is just odd when he is more open with Kate than her and again like a friendly work acquaintance at best, which shows he is still keeping her at a distance.

Not to mention how in issue 8 we later see  Stephanie literally dancing over him and Bernard being together in the montage of him recounting he and Kate's bonding moments involving the Batfamily. it is implied this took place not too long after the whole introduction to Bernard which again was pretty bizarre for the reasons I said above. so her doing this after the whole thing again makes her look like she has no self-respect.

This ties into how Tim only seems to involve her in his life when it comes to Bernard/how the author only uses her as. Like the only non-vigilante thing she ask's about is Bernard in issue 4 and in that montage of issue 8 the ONLY time Stephanie shows up in his interactions with the Batfamily in this issue is with Bernard while, Dick who is the closest to Tim apart from Steph shows in two montages, but for Steph it's only this one. Like when moving on his boat in the montage with Dick, he asked Kate, Barbara, and Darcy over Steph for help despite it being a supposed important step in his life. Like he'll include her with Bernard related stuff but other important stuff he'll go to people who are less closer to him for? It makes Tim look like he's using her to validate his new relationship and Steph going along with it makes her just a pushover

It doesn't help how Tim in other instances says/thinks some questionable things about her and their history. Like in issue 1 he thinks about how he was 'settling' before Bernard and how Stephanie would hate his boat after thinking about how much he likes it there and what it represents to him in terms of branching. Like Stephanie was giving her own thought box and HATE was emphaszied while the other Batfamily were grouped together and no emphasis on their reaction and they seemed more like light hearted sentiments/commentary/jabs at their reactions especially with the use of the word hate which is pretty strong and how it was emphasized.

There was also how in DC YJ when "Batman" and "Wonder Girl" in the fake world said Tim should get back with Steph, in that stupid scene, they did so in a way that makes it look like Steph only likes Tim for his vigilante identity via saying she would want him back if he was Batman like she's hero equivalent of a girl who wants to date the most popular jock and painting her as shallow yet Tim doesn't defend her or even care about the slight against her.

Their is also way he talks about her to Connor in DC Pride 2023. Like in the Pride Special Tim claims says she was "everything he ever wanted and more" yet aside from saying he was settling before Bernard, here he says he was really avoiding her because she was a reminder of a past of letting other people define him and he was invested in the relationship on to avoid examining himslef on purpose......

only mentioning how she was a reminder of a past he wanted to avoid and only in a negative connotation and how hard it was for him to be around her and not the fact of how he hurt her in then process and not how she became supportive of him (really shows how Steph in supporting Tim being bi is just used to shill Timber) when he talked how supportive Bruce was when we haven't seen it and he wasn't to the extent Steph was (who he also didn't treat badly and also mentioned as part of letting people define him though weird how he didn't have trouble being around him, but it just shows how they are framing Steph as the 'closeted' past or a barrier to bi Tim....) makes Tim look unappreciative of her and incredibly self-centered.

And like the final point is how Tim again hasn't shown any kind of support for her at all or even tried to be there for her in any way. Like even his 'talk' with her in the Pride Special was all about him. So the lack of support and the way he is still keeping her at a distance makes him look really self-absorded. It makes their 'friendship' all give and no take.

TLD DR: Tim and Steph's current 'friendship' is basically non-existant, one-sided and comes off as kind of toxic due to Tim coming across as self-centered and Steph like a pushoever with no self-respect
