A list of all of Damian Wayne's pets but they are just getting bigger:
1. Alfred Pennyworth the cat (named after Alfred the man of course)
Tumblr media
Alfred found him and brought him to Damian! He said he reminded him of Damian.
Edit: it happened in batman incorporated volume 2 if you want to read it! He appeared in issue 6.
2. Murder King (Wayne Family Adventures universe)
Tumblr media
His birthday present from Bruce.
It's free on the website Webtoon! Wayne Family Adventures chapter 13.
3. Jerry the Turkey (li'l Gotham universe exclusive)
Tumblr media
I don't remember the details but Damian encountered a pack of turkeys while on a mission and he just kept him after that.
4. Titus
Tumblr media
I unfortunately haven't had the chance to read Titus's comics yet, I think Bruce got him to Damian?
Edit: I recommend reading the super sons annual, it's a one shot of Titus and the other super-pets as the league of super pets.
Anyway he's a very good dog.
5. Batcow
Tumblr media
Rescued from a mission on a slaughterhouse! When Damian saw what the place did to animals he declared he adopts batcow and as of now he's vegetarian.
Edit: again, I recommend supersons annual if you want to read about her! She's a member of the league of super-pets as well. The origin comic is batman incorporated volume 2 issue 1.
6. Goliath the Dragon Bat
Tumblr media
If you're Damian Wayne's fans I really recommend reading Robin Son of Batman! It's where Goliath was introduced, in general I consider it the best Damian Wayne comic ever.
To short things up, Damian found him at his time with the League of Assassins while on a mission, and brought him back with him. Later on Robin Son of Batman he also brought him to Gotham to be with the other pets.
Bonus pics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn't he the cutest? He's my favourite (shhh don't tell Alfred).
And 7, the newest member- Wiggles!
Tumblr media
Appeared in nightwing volume 4 issue 42. He just appeared and Damian adopted him and took him to the cave with the other pets.
Comparison of Wiggles near Goliath-
Tumblr media
That's my presentation for today. Goodbye.

Heard about TK wanting to write WW for 100 issues and do a Trinity spinoff?
Yeah.... that's the word on the street 😔
To be honest with everybody though, I don't think he's hitting 100 issues. I think Tom King THINKS he will be writing 100 issues of WW comics, but I'm very skeptical. Like it's true he got pretty close to 100 issues when he was writing Batman, but that was during Rebirth, when comics were being published twice a month. At a normal monthly pace, 100 main title issues works out to be a bit over EIGHT YEARS. Even with specials and annuals and possible events (or the Trinity spinoff) compressing that timeline, there's still no way in my mind that Tom hits 100 issues in any less than five years. He spent three on Batman. You know, Batman, his #1, the guy he has to bring up every issue? Do we really think he's going to spend over twice as long on Diana?
Like personally I'm just not convinced that Tom King cares enough about Wonder Woman to write her for that long. Like I think he likes her, and I think he thinks she's cool, but reading his book he seems to love to put the focus anywhere except on Diana. Like all the narration is done by the villain (meaning we don't get Diana's actual thoughts on any of this) and the backup are all TK's audition to write supersons (so we're losing page space that could be utilized to develop the current narrative in favor of possible future stories with no plot relevance)
Like idk. Tom King is talking the talk and I think he has the power at DC currently to walk the walk if he really wants to do it and his hype squad keeps sales high, but he hasn't convinced me so far with his work that he has it in him to see out so many issues of Wonder Woman, especially when Diana finally defeats the Sovereign, and if Trinity gets her own book, like what is he going to do with his remaining 80 issues? Actually telling WW stories?
It seems to me from what I've read of his WW and interviews abt it is that this "100 issues of Wonder Woman" thing is coming from his opinion that Diana deserves a 100-issue run, rather any great, passionate love for Diana that would actually motivate him to write her for that long.
So anyways, my stance is that if he's really putting in a long one (however long it may be) we just hope for the best, (Diana getting her narration boxes back and being central in her own story again, Trinity getting booted back to Themyscira to be forgotten raised offscreen, etc.) and try to make the most & wait it out
#idk i could talk more abt this but ive already talked a lot so idk#think tom king is really wanting to be pérez here (p sure i read him saying as much in an interview) but instead i predict it ending up as#more of a WML type run (just with much better art)#idk idk. worried that were going to have the Sovereign stuff take forever and ever which is super annoying to me. i literally hate him so#much. not even in a fun way like i want diana to beat the shit out of him and get him out of my comics books permanently like yesterday#also worried that hes going to try and have baby trinity be a part of the narrative. as in a diana raising her type way. like if baby#trinity gets kidnapped and she has to get her back like ok fine but think theres a possibility king hits a wall when it comes to like diana#actually being her mother. bc like diana is one of if not the busiest superhero in the dcu shes got major shit to do and no partner or#stability to actually take care of a baby while still being wonder woman. plus she has an entire island nation that would (and has!) take#that child in in an instant. so like pls go with that and not try and juggle plates and do the former#esp bc having trinity be raised on the island basically cancels out the diana's kid stuff. like not bio related not being raised like thats#just a relative homie#idk#anyways calling it now hes falling short of the hundo. hope im not proven wrong here#or that maybe one day tk wakes up with a miraculous ability to write great wonder woman stories. id be cool with that too. we take good news#here too folks#blah

The Pride Progress Flag is seen waving in the wind following a flag raising ceremony in recognition and celebration of LGBTQI+ Pride Month at the Mary W. Jackson NASA Headquarters building in Washington on June 1, 2023.Credits: NASA/Keegan Barber Two new resources are available for businesses that provide products and services to support NASA’s missions, from supersonic flight to lunar exploration, as well as companies that aim to engage the agency as a customer. While NASA practices transparency in its procurement processes to ensure access and participation by all businesses, we recognize that barriers to participation remain for smaller, less experienced companies. In addition, new federal-wide policy and guidance has increased focus on NASA’s small and minority business goals. “NASA’s dedication to fostering collaboration with small and disadvantaged businesses remains at the forefront of our mission,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy. “By implementing innovative practices and refining our procurement processes, we aim to not only drive forward our key mission objectives but also to stimulate industry-wide innovation and inclusivity. These efforts are vital as we seek to leverage the full spectrum of talent and creativity available, ensuring that all voices have a chance to contribute to our groundbreaking work in space exploration.”  To assess the agency’s best practices and biggest barriers, Deputy Administrator Melroy established a multi-disciplinary team that included the Offices of Procurement and Small Business Programs. One of the outcomes was the creation of a communication plan for the small and minority business enterprise alongside NASA’s annual vendor communication plan. “Inherent in NASA’s commitment to innovation and ingenuity, is the recognition that a diverse and broad supply chain is essential for mission success,” said Karla Smith Jackson, assistant administrator for NASA’s Office of Procurement. “The updated Vendor Communication and the new Small and Minority Business Enterprise Communication plans are the next logical step in NASA’s continuous effort to foster an inclusive acquisition environment. By broadening our communication and outreach, we are strengthening our industrial base and empowering businesses of all sizes to contribute to the future of space exploration.” In the NASA Small and Minority Business Enterprise Communication Plan, the agency outlines its goals for enhancing its outreach efforts and increasing spending with these businesses to reduce obstacles to participation in NASA’s missions and more intentionally engage companies throughout the procurement process. Engagement activities outlined in these plans support more robust communication with potential vendors. As an example, the NASA Acquisition Innovation Launchpad (NAIL) encourages one-on-one conversations with small and minority-owned businesses to improve participation, drive innovation, identify and remove barriers as well as collaboration to share best practices and methods across the agency. Further, by publishing annual forecasts we give industry insight as early as possible to promote maximum competition. “Our commitment to small and minority businesses is unwavering,” said Dwight Deneal, assistant administrator for NASA’s Office of Small Business Programs. “This communication plan is not just about outreach; it’s about building lasting partnerships that drive innovation and inclusion across NASA’s missions.” The Vendor Communication Plan goes into more depth on how NASA engages with all businesses before, during, and after contract awards are given, providing various examples of events and methods of communication the agency uses to remain in contact with award recipients. This includes holding webinars with award applicants and recipients, providing email support throughout the award process, and reviewing final performance and financial reports. NASA also provides information about how the agency promotes diversity throughout the contracting process, including a dedicated equity action plan and increased subcontracting opportunities. In the spirit of exploration, NASA is expanding its reach to new entrants and businesses that have not traditionally done business with the agency. NASA is committed to increasing its small business prime and subcontract awards, with an emphasis on innovative barrier reducing procurement practices and transparent contracting methods.   Learn more about how NASA is improving its acquisition process at: https://www.nasa.gov/procurement Share Details Last Updated Sep 23, 2024 LocationNASA Headquarters Related TermsNASA HeadquartersGeneralGet InvolvedOffice of Small Business Programs (OSBP)Opportunities to Contribute to NASA Missions & Get InvolvedPartner With UsSmall Business Innovation Research / Small Business

New Jersey Nets and Detroit Pistons Swap Porter and Money
Tumblr media
On September 8th, 1978, the Detroit Pistons traded guard Eric Money to the New Jersey Nets for guard Kevin Porter.
Not many NBA players get the homecoming experience right away. Guard Eric Money was the exception. Money was from the local area, starring at Detroit Kettering High School.
A two-year player at the University of Arizona, Money was a rare underclassmen and just 19 years old when the Detroit Pistons selected him 33rd overall in the second round of the 1974 NBA Draft.
After being drafted, Money signed a two-year deal for what was believed to be worth $50,000 annually. Standing six-feet tall, Money was a slick guard with a knack for scoring from midrange. He joined as a backup at guard to a team built around star big man Bob Lanier and five-time All-Star point guard Dave Bing.
There was significant excitement around Money as a prospect because of his youth and scoring ability. There was also an expectation that he would be Bing's successor.
Detroit began the 1974-75 season 10-7 after 17 games and 13-10 after 23. The club reached a 31-21 record after a 15-4 stretch. The Pistons were second in the West, but a 9-21 run to end the season left the club 40-42 and fifth in the conference standings. Money had a bit role with the Pistons in his rookie season, appearing in 66 games, compiling 4.8 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.5 APG and 0.5 SPG in 13.5 MPG.
The Pistons advanced to the first round where they matched up with the Seattle SuperSonics. In the series opener, Sonics forward Spencer Haywood led the way with 22 points, 14 boards and five assists as Seattle won 90-77. In the second game, three Pistons scored 20 points and Detroit won comfortably 122-106.
Seattle took a 15-point lead at halftime in the rubber game and behind 26 points from Tom Burleson, held on for a 100-93 victory. Money did not play in the postseason for Detroit. He missed time due to a twisted ankle suffered in practice.
After the season, the Pistons moved on from Bing, dealing the star guard after a contentious contract holdout from the previous year. He was sent to the Washington Bullets with a first round pick for point guard Kevin Porter. In addition to Porter, the Pistons added guard Archie Clark in a trade with the SuperSonics.
Porter became the starter at point guard and Money was his backup for the 1975-76 season. Detroit began the year 11-6. However, the club lost 17 of its next 21 games. At 17-25, head coach Ray Scott was fired and replaced by assistant coach Herb Brown.
After 69 games, the Pistons were 26-43 and half a game out of fifth place in the West. Detroit saved its best for last, winning 10 of the final 13 games to finish 36-46 and fifth. The record was good enough to get them into the playoffs.
Money saw a significant boost in playing time during his second pro season partially because Porter only played 19 games due of right knee surgery. The six-foot guard played in 80 games and amassed 13.0 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 4.2 APG and 1.7 SPG in 28.3 MPG.
The Pistons advanced to the postseason as the fifth qualifying team despite having the sixth-best record in the West. They went on to a series in the opening round with the fourth-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. The first game saw Bucks rookie Gary Brokaw drop 36 points in a 110-107 Milwaukee victory. Detroit center Bob Lanier had 35 points in a 126-123 Pistons victory.
In the third and final game of the series, Pistons guard Chris Ford had a key steal with 18 seconds left and Lanier made two free-throws with 13 seconds left as the Pistons held on for a 107-104 win. During the three-game series, Money recorded 14.0 PPG on 46.3% from the field, 2.0 RPG, 4.7 APG and 2.3 SPG in 27.7 MPG.
Detroit moved on to the Conference Semifinals where they faced the Golden State Warriors. Guard Phil Smith had 26 points to lead the way in a 127-103 Warriors Game One blowout win.
Curtis Rowe and Lanier combined for 64 points in a 123-111 Pistons victory. With the series tied 1-1, Smith put up 34 points in a 113-96 Warriors victory.
In Game Four, the Pistons built a 16-point lead going into the fourth quarter. Golden State came back in the fourth quarter. Lanier and Rowe made key baskets in the last 49 seconds of the game and Smith missed an attempt with seven seconds left that would have tied the score 102 all. Detroit forward Howard Porter rebounded Smith’s miss. He was fouled and made both free-throws. Detroit won 106-102 and made tied the series 2-2.
In Game Five, Smith registered 28 points and Rick Barry put up 25 points, 11 assists and seven steals in a 128-109 Warriors win. Detroit had an early 16-point lead in the second quarter of Game Six, but Golden State got close and sent the game to overtime.
Trailing 118-116 late, the Pistons had two chances to tie. Clifford Ray blocked Rowe’s layup attempt and Money missed a desperation shot on the last play. Golden State won the series 4-2. In the six-game series, Money managed 11.8 PPG, 2.7 RPG and 6.2 APG in 31.7 MPG.
In the 1976 offseason, the Pistons signed free agent M.L. Carr and acquired guard Ralph Simpson in a three-team trade with the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics.
Around the start of the 1976-77 season, Money re-signed with the Pistons on a reported three-year contract. Detroit began the 1976-77 season 2-6 but won nine of its next 10 games to reach 11-7. Detroit seemed to be headed to the playoffs, reaching third place in the East with a 40-28 record after 68 games. The club went 4-10 over the final 14 games to fall to 44-38, which was sixth in the conference.
Porter's return caused an uneasy dynamic with Money. Both point guards wanted to play but there could only be one starter. Guards Chris Ford and Ralph Simpson also wanted playing time. Both Money and Porter were fined at times and Porter's relationship with Brown soured significantly.
Money appeared in 73 games with the Pistons during the '76-'77 season, tallying 10.2 PPG, 1.7 RPG, 3.3 APG and 1.2 SPG in 21.7 MPG. Money started the final 11 games of the regular season and was effective, averaging 16.2 PPG on 53.1% from the field and 6.0 APG in 31.6 MPG.
In the playoffs, the Pistons faced the Golden State Warriors. In the series opener, Lanier had 28 points and the Pistons bounced back from an 18-point deficit to win 95-90. Facing elimination, the Warriors got 35 points from Phil Smith (28 in the first half) and pulled away in the second half to blow out the Pistons 138-108. Money had 31 points and seven assists in the loss.
Game Three was for all of the marbles and it was heated. With six minutes and 10 seconds left in the third quarter, Money had an altercation with Warriors guard Charles Dudley. After Dudley attempted to take an offensive foul from Money, he kicked and threw a punch at the Pistons guard. It led both benches to clear.
The situation would escalate. Pistons forward M.L. Carr stepped in to push Dudley back but other parties would soon get involved (via The San Francisco Examiner):
"It was then that a spectator, later identified as Dennis Ackerman, reached across the table and popped Carr in the neck with a right hand. At the moment, Carr didn't even realize who had hit him but teammate Bob Lanier did. The massive center hurdled the table, leading a charge that inundated Ackerman. "The players were finally being sorted out When the next act in the drama took place. Carr has just learned who had hit him and charged after Ackerman, who was being led out. 'How low can the fans be,' said Carr disgustedly. 'That's why I went after him again. I was on the court when he hit me. I wasn't in the stands. The guy reached over. It was a cheap shot. If I had gone into the stands to hit a fan they would have thrown me out. I want to see what happens after what a fan did.' Initially quite a bit to Ackerman. "He wound up in Oakland City Jail, charged with one count of disturbing the peace and another of battery. Apparently Carr, who was approached by a police officer in the locker room, carried through with his threat to press charges against his assailant."
youtube
Neither Money nor Dudley received an ejection. Rick Barry had 35 points in the game and the Warriors gained momentum in the second half to pull away and win 109-101 and eliminate Detroit. During the series, Money averaged 18.3 PPG on 50% from the field, 3.0 RPG, 6.7 APG and 2.0 SPG in 34.3 MPG.
The playing time issues involving Porter and Money would continue into the 1977-78 season. Porter played eight games with the Pistons before he was traded to the New Jersey Nets with Howard Porter for guard Al Skinner and two second round picks. The move gave Money full control of the starting point guard spot.
Money thrived in his fourth season. With Porter out of the picture, he played a career-high 33.6 minutes a night. Money also had career bests of 18.6 PPG, 2.7 RPG and 4.6 APG. The guard also averaged 1.6 SPG in 76 appearances.
The Pistons however floundered. Detroit was 9-15 when head coach Herb Brown was fired and replaced by general manager Bob Kauffman. The Pistons played .500 basketball under Kauffman, going 29-29 and finishing the season out of the playoffs with a 38-44 record.
After the season, the Pistons went through a regime change. The Pistons hired Dick Vitale as new head coach. General manager Kauffman later resigned after clashing with owner Bill Davidson.
Vitale and Money were not on the same page immediately, leading to a trade. (via Detroit Free Press):
"But it was over a month ago that Vitale met with Money at a restaurant in the Pontiac Silverdome, the new headquarters for the Pistons. 'I guess we exchanged philosophy,' said Vitale at a press conference Friday. 'I told him what I expected from a Detroit Piston. I told him there were some things in the past that he had done that I would not tolerate. 'Then he gave me some specifics that led me to believe he could not play for me. He said his job was only on the floor. He said he didn't owe anything to the fans, they meant nothing. He said the media wasn't fair to him and the Piston organization had not treated him fairly.' From then on it was a one-way conversation. 'I stood up and told him it would take me six minutes to get to my office and after that I would do all in my power to make sure he was wearing a different uniform by training camp.'"
Money was traded soon after to the New Jersey Nets for old rival Kevin Porter, the guard who he backed up previously in Detroit. Money ended his four-year run with a stat line of 11.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 3.5 APG and 1.3 SPG in 295 games. The guard shot 49% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line.
Tumblr media
Kevin Porter joined the New Jersey Nets after the aforementioned trade with the Pistons early in the 1976-77 season. Porter had wanted more playing time and got his wish in New Jersey. The six-foot guard appeared in 74 games with the Nets, and produced 16.2 PPG, 10.8 APG, 2.7 RPG and 1.6 SPG in 36.3 MPG.
Though Porter thrived individually, the Nets were terrible, reaching a 9-42 mark after 51 games. The team would play better, going 15-16 over the final 31 games to finish 24-58 and out of the postseason.
Seeing an opportunity to get a scoring guard, the Nets leaped at the chance to acquire Money. The team felt it had a younger guard who could pass and create in Eddie Jordan. Porter's looming free agency also concerned New Jersey who didn't want to lose him without receiving anything significant in return.
Tumblr media
Money was a starter at point guard with the Nets after the trade. The guard played just 47 games with the Nets, averaging 16.7 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 5.3 APG and 1.6 SPG in 30.5 MPG.
He was traded with guard Al Skinner to the Philadelphia 76ers for Harvey Catchings, Ralph Simpson and cash considerations. The Nets were 23-27 and on a five-game losing streak when the trade was made.
Money's tenure in New Jersey and the subsequent trade did create an NBA record. On November 8, 1978, the Nets and Philadelphia 76ers were playing in a game. Nets forward Bernard King and coach Kevin Loughery both received three technical fouls from referee Richie Powell.
Three technical fouls are impossible and the Nets protested the game which ended up as a 123-117 loss. The NBA accepted the protest, ruled that the Nets were right and replayed the game from the point of King's ejection on March 3, 1979.
Money was on the Nets in November but had already been traded to the 76ers by the replayed game, so the guard played the game and was marked as playing for both teams. It made him the only player in league history to score for two teams in the same game and he is one of only three to play in the same game for two teams.
SB Nation's Weird Rules recapped the situation well.

Tumblr media
Kevin Porter was happy to be back in Detroit after less than a year spent with New Jersey. His style of play which involved penetrating and dishing to teammates fit the uptempo style coach Dick Vitale wanted to play.
Porter was capable of putting up some unique stat lines. In early March, he had 30 points and 25 assists in a 160-117 win against the Boston Celtics. Overall, he led the NBA with 13.4 APG, a then-NBA record. He also had 1,099 assists. It was the first time a player recorded over 1,000 assists.
Porter recorded at least 10 assists in 62 of his 82 games and had at least 20 helpers on nine occasions. Along with the assists, Porter accumulated 15.4 PPG, 2.5 RPG and 1.9 SPG in 82 games and 37.4 MPG.
Detroit began the 1977-78 season just 2-8 under coach Vitale and never recovered. The team was top-six in pace, but struggled on both the offensive and defensive ends, finishing with a 30-52 record and out of the playoffs.
After the season, Porter became a free agent and signed a five-year contract with the Washington Bullets. The Pistons received two first round picks in 1980 (Rickey Brown) and 1982 (John Bagley) as compensation.
Tumblr media
Kevin Porter on playing for Dick Vitale (via Asbury Park Press):
"I really believe in Dick Vitale's ability to communicate and relate with people."
On being a new player from his previous time in Detroit (via Detroit Free Press):
"It's a new Kevin Porter on the court. People have a wrong outlook of pro athletes. They want to win and get that championship ring on their finger so bad, that they'll do whatever the coach says. Especially if you're a dedicated individual and I think I am dedicated to basketball."
On his issues with Herb Brown:
"I owe a lot to Dick Vitale and no matter what he says to me or how he says it, I'm going to do what he says. Dick is just going to be the last word in everything. Herb Brown would say something during a game situation and a ballplayer could change his mind just like that. I'd never been in that situation and I think I reacted wrong to it, but I guess when you're under pressure, you kinda react the wrong way. I should have kept my head and just sat on the bench as he wanted me to. "But I think Dick Vitale is going to be level with the ballplayers if you're not doing what he wants you to do he'll tell you. I hate to keep coming back to Herb, but with him you'd always hear things from somebody else, from (assistant coach) Larry Jones or from (general manager) Oscar Feldman or from the news media. That's what the problem was; he could never relate to his players."
How he feels he was blamed in Detroit:
"People pointed to me and Herb as the main problem, but there were other problems. Marvin (Barnes) had problems, Eric (Money) had problems, Bob (Lanier) had problems, Howard (Porter) had problems, Ralph Simpson had problems. Everybody had problems, mine were just more publicized."
How the Pistons can be better:
"There is no doubt that was a much better team at the beginning of last year. That was an unbelievable team. But I personally think that as a floor general and playmaker, I can get these guys to work together and make them into a good ballclub. If we concentrate on doing things in the perimeter and playing Dick Vitale's game we can win basketball games."
How his religious beliefs have helped him:
"Last summer I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior that's been a big factor in my life. Mentally, it's taken a lot of pressures off me. My dealings with the political end of things that were going on here when Herb was here, it took that off my mind. I was concentrating on the Bible and what Christ was relating to me moreso than what was going on in basketball and it really helped me mentally. "After I accepted him and tried to live by his word, things in my life kinda smoothed out for me. I give all the credit first of all to God and to my teammates my stats and my totals don't mean anything because I know where they're coming from, from those guys and God."
How the Pistons organization has changed:
"The organization has changed completely. There's not all the political things going on here now that was going on last year. I think I was just naive enough to just want to play and win all the time I didn't realize all the things that were going on behind my back. Now, instead of having four or five chiefs, there's just one chief, and that's Dick Vitale."
On his time in New Jersey (via Detroit Free Press):
"I'm here to play basketball. I went to New Jersey with a new attitude. Kevin Loughery told me to go ahead and run the team. I got my head together and broke some records."
On his playing style:
"If there's a lost ball on the floor, Kevin Porter will go get it."
Eric Money on joining the Nets (via The Central New Jersey Home News):
"I have a very exciting feeling about coming to the New York area. The Nets have a young and very talented team."
New Jersey Nets general manager Charles Theokas on Money (via Asbury Park Press):
"[Money] is a little more all-around player, a little taller, and we think can do a better job on defense."
On Money's ability:
"If we played tomorrow, Money would start for us. He opens up a lot of things."
Detroit Pistons head coach Dick Vitale on Kevin Porter (via Detroit Free Press):
"Kevin is one of the few guys who pulled me out of my seat when I watched him play."
On what he told Eric Money when he decided to trade him:
"I told him I would not trade a Mercedes to get a Volkswagen. Today we got a Mercedes."
On Porter's style of play (via Paterson Morning News):
"I want to play a running game of basketball. And to do that, you need a point guard, someone who can get the ball to the other fellas. No one can do that better than Kevin Porter."
On figuring out if it was right to acquire Porter:
"I talked with Ray Scott (another former Pistons' coach) and he said not to believe all the stories about Kevin. He wants to win. He wants to wear a Pistons' uniform."
Telling Kevin Porter at a press conference his first game will be against Money and the New Jersey Nets (via Detroit Free Press):
"On Oct. 13 we open up with the Nets. And you're going to be guarding a guy named Money. I hear you can't play defense well we're gonna find out that day because Money is going to be juiced up to get 60 (points). Think about that for the next three months."
Nets head coach Kevin Loughery on the team's backcourt after the trade (via The Central New Jersey Home News):
"As of right now, our backcourt is very solid. We have a good corps of guards in Eric [Money] and Eddie Jordan."
Nets guard Eddie Jordan on how the trade opens up a role for him as a distributor (via The Central New Jersey Home News):
"I may be the only true point guard on the team. When I come in for John, Money will be looking more for the bucket. I'd like to look for the bucket once in a while too. but I'll do whatever Kevin wants me to do. I think I'll be how the coach wants to use me. I'll know very soon though."

Czech Republic intends to buy F-35 fighters to replace its rented Gripens
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/23/2022 - 8:38 PM in Military
The Czech Ministry of Defense is deciding to buy new fighter jets for its air force, which will replace 14 JAS39 Gripen supersonic aircraft leased from Sweden by 2027, and the F-35 would be preferred.
The Czech Republic said it should buy a whole squadron, but buy more modern aircraft. According to the findings, Minister Jana Cernochová (ODS) intends to decide to buy more than two dozen new fighters later this quarter.
The need to buy fighter jets to protect Czech airspace has been discussed for several years. However, the war in Ukraine and the security situation in Europe further reinforce this need. At the same time, the deadline for the end of the lease of 14 Saab JAS39 Gripen C/D fighters, which the Czech Republic rented from the Kingdom of Sweden seventeen years ago, is approaching. The contract has already been extended by the government. The annual lease of Gripen aircraft will cost 1.7 billion kronor.
Tumblr media
Currently, the Czech Republic has 14 JAS39 Gripen C/D fighters.
The Czech Air Force has already conveyed to the ministry its idea of which aircraft should protect the Czech skies in the coming years. But the decision will be up to the ministry and the government. The Czech Republic will probably not use the option to rent aircraft as before. In 2027, they will be aircraft older than a quarter of a century that will retire in the next decade.
There are several ways to get a refund for Gripen. Sweden has already offered the purchase of newer Gripen E/F fighters, another option is the acquisition of European Eurofighter fighters or the American route, which is followed by Slovakia, which is already waiting for the delivery of 14 American F-16 fighters.
Tumblr media
The modernized F-16 would theoretically be considered for the Czech Republic, but today it is an older type of machine, technologically more or less at the Gripen level. Therefore, according to information obtained by the daily Echo24 from the Ministry of Defense, the U.S. F-35 is identified as the most likely candidate.
Currently, it is the most modern fighter in the world, being able to serve the Czech Air Force for the next 40 years. The price would probably be around 85 to 90 million dollars per jet. The F-35 can also be equipped with nuclear weapons, if necessary. Several other European countries are now looking for them.
Tumblr media
Saab also negotiates the new Gripen E.
The Czech Air Force, as well as the Ministry of Defense, has an interest in acquiring a total of 24 new fighter jets, which would mean expanding a tactical squadron in relation to the current state. The purchase of fighter jets must take place directly in the form of an intergovernmental agreement (Government for Government), as in the case of other future military purchases, such as infantry combat vehicles or tanks.
The information was confirmed by Lockheed Martin at the Berlin ILA Airshow on June 22, 2022.
Tumblr media
Slovakia decided on the F-16.
"Discussions are underway with two countries interested in buying the F-35," said JR McDonald, vice president of strategy and business development of the F-35 at the air show. “As far as I know, the Czech Republic is closer to making a decision.”
In the next two years, Gripen aircraft would probably also be involved in the protection of Slovakia's airspace, which is awaiting a delayed delivery of F-16 from the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin and, at the same time, prematurely discards Russian MiG-29 jets - with several parts already supplied to Ukraine.
Tumblr media
So far, according to Jana Cernochová, these are the conditions. In addition to protecting airspace over the Czech Republic, Cáslav fighters also participate in foreign missions. As of April 1, five of our aircraft, along with colleagues from Spain, took over NATO's mission in the Baltic.

Robin 80 ***spoilers***
Robin 80 was a wonderful celebration of the first sidekick... the Boy Wonder... Robin. This issue consisted of 10 stories focusing on the different iterations of Robin. While Carrie Kelley received a pinup in the issue, she did not receive her own story. Robin 80 focused on the five canon Robins. While some are upset that Duke was not included in this lineup, he was never an official Robin to Batman. If we count Duke, we have to count all of the "We Are Robin" crew. When given the choice by Batman, Duke chose to pave his own path as his own hero, which is commendable. Dick received 4 out of the 10 stories in this issue, which was fitting considering it is also his 80 year anniversay. My favorite thing about this issue was the acknowledgement that Bruce adopted the male Robins. Below I rank the stories in Robin 80 from my least favorite to my favorite.
10. Dick Grayson, Nightwing in Aftershocks
Writer: Chuck Dixon
Tumblr media
Starting off my list is Aftershocks.  This story follows Dick after he has quit being Robin, and has assumed his new identity, Nightwing.  This story highlights perfectly how Dick operates as a solo hero.  He is brave, quick on his feet, witty, and of course, he saves the day.  This was a good one-shot but it didn’t have the impact that some of the other stories in this issue had.  However, it did serve it’s purpose of showing Dick coming into his own.
9. Nightwing and The Titans in Team Building
Writer: Devin Grayson
Tumblr media
Like Aftershocks, this story serves to show how Dick operates as a team leader. He was smart, strategic, capable and decisive.  He was everything you want in a team lead.  As before, this was a good one-shot, but it also lacked the emotional impact that other stories on this list had.
8. Dick Grayson, Agent 37 in The Lesson Plan
Writers: Tim Seely and Tom King
Tumblr media
Like Aftershocks and Team Building, this story follows Dick as Agent 37.  In this story he is a mentor to a young recruit named Paris.  He gives her lessons throughout the story that contradict every lesson Batman ever taught him.  When he gets to the final lesson, he tells her the one thing that he agreed with Batman on “Ignore Your Mentor.  Do What You Do Best”.  One thing I really appreciate about the stories focusing on Dick is that each story is a progression in his vigilante career.  He has an actual arc in Robin 80.
7. The Supersons in My Best Friend
Writer: Peter J Tomasi
Tumblr media
This was an adorable story about how Jon views his friendship with Damian.  Damian is a lot more vulnerable when he is with Jon, and honestly, he acts like the kid that he is.  This was a lighthearted and sweet story that shows a different side to our current Robin.
6. Tim Drake, Robin III in Extra Credit
Writer: Adam Beechen
Tumblr media
This was a wonderful piece that highlighted how awesome Tim is.  For so many, Tim is their Robin, and it was nice to see him getting recognition in this comic.
5. Stephanie Brown, Robin IV in Fitting In
Writer: Amy Wolfram
Tumblr media
Out of all of the stories in this issue, Stephanie’s story made me think the most.  There was a very deep meaning behind this story once you get past the surface level.  So let’s breakdown this story.  The story begins with Stephanie showing up late to a training session.  She suits up in one of Tim’s old costumes.  Of course there are issues with this and Stephanie is busting out of the seams (not because she’s overweight but because she has breast, butt and thighs to contend with).  She complains about her hand-me-down costume while Bruce focuses on training.  Even with her top busted, Bruce is still training.  He even has the nerve to tell Stephanie she is distracted. Alfred shows up with Dick’s old costume as a replacement, and Steph asks for something “without a cup”.  Bruce FINALLY makes Stephanie a suit fit for a young lady, but when she puts on her new costume, Bruce tells her “no more excuses”.   Let that sink in.  He saw her complaints about wearing a male costume as an excuse not to train.  Let’s carry on.  They go to Western Town to take on Firefly.  The villain du jour does not take Stephanie seriously and calls her “Cosplay Girl”.  Stephanie is rash during the fight and does not follow Batman’s orders, resulting in her capture by Firefly.  She is able to avert disaster (barely) and saves the day, but Batman still chides her.
Batman: “Tim would have waited outside”
Robin (Stephanie): “I’m not Tim!”
Batman: “I know”
Stephanie tells Bruce that she wants to be her own Robin and to stop trying to make her into something she’s not.  Bruce hears her and makes her a special closet in the batcave with her own costumes. This seems like a step in the right direction but we know how her Robin story ends.
At no point in this story did I feel like Stephanie was being sexualized.  it was more awkward and embarrassing than anything else. Neither Bruce nor Alfred said anything inappropriate to Steph, and no skin or nipples were shown thru her shirt.  She was just in a predicament where her costume was too tight because Bruce was making her wear Tim’s old costume.  And that was the point of the story (at least for me).  Bruce wasn’t trying to find a replacement Robin, he was trying to find a replacement Tim, and eventually get Tim back.
Bruce has a bad habit of trying to replace people in his life.  He did this with Jason and he did it with Stephanie, and the results where dang near the same.  Bruce replaced Dick with a direct copy, down to the hair color, race and costume.  Bruce was trying to do the same with Stephanie, however it was unsuccessful for obvious reasons.    This story really made me think about all the extra pressure Bruce put on Steph and Jason by trying to have them live up to Tim and Dick respectively.  Instead of playing up their strengths and letting them define what type of Robin they wanted to be, he wanted them to be replicas of their predecessors.    Both results turned out in disaster with Jason dying and Stephanie nearly being killed after she was fired. To me this story highlights how badly Bruce tried to use Stephanie to get to Tim.  It makes absolutely no sense that he wouldn’t make her a costume to fit her body.  But is it surprising b/c he did the same thing to Jason.  To me this story was a lot deeper than Stephanie busting out of her top.  It was about 1.  Bruce’s need to get Tim back 2.  Bruce’s lack of respect for Stephanie and 3.  Stephanie’s disastrous run as Robin.  Say what you will but she held the mantle for less than 3 months and almost died trying to prove herself to Bruce.  Stephanie never got a fair shake at being Robin, and this story highlights that perfectly.  She was literally setup to fail. Maybe I have overthought this story, but those are the points I got from it, and they are important points to be made, which is why it takes the # 5 spot.
4. Dick Grayson, Robin in A Little Nudge
Writer: Marv Wolfman
Tumblr media
This is a story about a boy becoming a man and setting off on his own journey. In this story, we see Batman and Robin clashing on patrol, as Batman wants Robin to fall in line and Robin wants to make his own decisions. The issue ends with Dick thanking Bruce for everything he has done for him but leaving the nest to become his own hero. Bruce knew this day was coming, and instead of talking to Dick, he purposely picked small fights with him so he could make that step on his own.
3. Damian Wayne, Robin: Son of Batman in Bat and Mouse
Writer Robbie Thompson
Tumblr media
This story lands in my #3 spot This story focuses on the fundamental differences between Damian and Bruce. Bruce knows that something is going on with Damian, he just can't figure out what it is. He wants to fix it but he doesn't know how. He can't rely on Alfred, as this story takes place after his death. On Damian's part, he is blaming everything on Bruce instead of taking responsibility for his own actions. While some see Damian's current storyline as a regression, I see a lost kid with no guidance. Alfred is dead, Dick is Ric and Bruce is emotionally inept. Jason tried to step-up, but that relationship soured quickly. Damian has no one to guide him, and is making bad decisions as a result. This story sets up the eventual showdown in the upcoming Teen Titans annual.
2. Jason Todd, Red Hood in More Time
Writer: Judd Winick
Tumblr media
I was not expecting Jason to have the most heartfelt story in this issue. This story was beautiful and now I want Judd Winick to write another Red Hood miniseries or ongoing. This story highlighted the complicated relationship between Jason and Bruce in the most purest way I've ever seen. Even the artwork had an innocence to it. The story goes back and forth between a young Jason, who loves Bruce wholeheartedly, and an older Jason, whose relationship with Bruce is way more complicated and strained. This story highlights why Jason will always be a part of the Batfamily, because even with their complicated relationship, they love each other. This story just adds to the wonderful stories featuring Jason in 2020.
1. Tim Drake, Red Robin in Boy Wonders
Writer: James Tynion IV
Tumblr media
The brotherly bonding in this story is what landed it in the # 1 spot. This story takes place prior to Detective Comics # 934. In this story, Tim cannot decide if he wants to attend college or join Bruce in forming the Gotham Knights. He seeks advice from Dick, Jason and Damian, with each one telling him something different. Dick tells Tim that he's a hero that the next generation can look up to. Jason essentially tells Tim that Bruce is stuck in his ways and he has the opportunity to be better than Bruce. The best advice however came from the little Gremlin in Tim's life. After some well placed insults, Damian tells Tim that he has accomplished everything he has set out to do, and has been successful in his endeavors. At the end of the day "You do anything you damn well please". The confirmations Tim received from his brothers was much needed for him and helped him make the decision to form the Gotham Knights with Bruce. I loved getting a "behind the scenes" look at how The Gotham Knights protocol was formed. Because of these factors, Boy Wonders has my #1 spot.
What is your favorite story from Robin 80?

Ever read Batman annual #1 with Ace’s origin story and Supersons annual with the Legion of Super pets? What do you think of a story in which the pets save their kids? I find it cute since Damian and Jon are the youngest in their respective families and likely spend the most time with their pets.
I read Ace’s origin but I don’t remember it much. And I actually never read the legion of super pets issue haha.
And I mean, Damian’s been ‘saved’ by his pets before, Goliath aside, when he was resurrected. They threw the baddie into cow poop somehow if I recall. And Goliath does it often haha
But I could definitely see Titus and Krypto going APE SHIT to protect and save their boys if a situation called for it. Even if it meant against their own dads/families. I could see Titus hesitating then, though. Krypto though I could see absolutely going for the kill. No mercy from that dog. And Titus, I think it’d really depend on who he was protecting his boy from. But only maybe.

It was a decade that began with Margaret Thatcher in No.10 Downing Street and ended with Tony Blair, while in the United States by the end of the decade President George HW Bush had been replaced in the White house by Bill Clinton. This reflected passing of the torch from a generation shaped by World War II to that of the baby boomer generation born after it. What happened in between, from Thatcher’s downfall in 1990 through to the subsequent succession of John Major and election of victory of 1992 and the defeat of 1997 are shown all in the links below.

While it was films such as Titanic and Forest Gump that drew the most at the box office, it has to be remembered it wasn’t a bad decade for British cinema either! Having endured a fairly lame 1980s (in 1989, annual investment in film production was a meagre £104 million; by 1996, it stood at £741 million), hits such as Trainspotting, The Full Monty and The English Patient helped put British cinema on the map again.

In the US it was shows like the Simpsons, The X-Files and Friends that helped to define the era, the later show widely seen as defining the era in the same way that Cheers had done in the previous decade having bowed out in 1993.
The birth of lad culture and the rise magazines like Loaded was reflected in the popularity of the sitcom Men Behaving Badly but the girls could prove they could also be top of their game with Absolutely Fabulous.
By the end of the decade the panel show was in full swing with shows like NeverMind the Buzzcocks following in the footsteps of Have I Got News for You. In the world of soap opera the BBC launched Eldorado in 1992 but critical attacks and poor ratings led to its cancelation a year later. That decade would see EastEnders and Coronation Street battling for viewers.

                                         Fashion
Tumblr media
Fashion in the 1990s was defined by a return to minimalist fashion and the rise of the supermodels, in contrast to the more elaborate and flashy trends of the previous decade.
In the early 1990s, several late 1980s fashions remained very stylish among both sexes. However, the popularity of grunge and alternative rock music helped bring the simple, unkempt grunge look to the mainstream by 1992. By 1994 this had all changed and grunge clothing rapidly declined as fashion became more feminine and form-fitting. Young women in the UK and America wore tailored skirt and trouser suits while men’s fashion was shaped by 1960s mod clothing and longer due to the success of Britpop. From the late 1990s onwards, American teenage girls imitated the look of British girl group All Saints, which consisted of baggy jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, and trainers.
The anti-conformist approach to fashion led to the popularization of the casual chic look that included T-shirts, jeans, hoodies, and sneakers, a trend which continued into the 2000s. Additionally, fashion trends throughout the decade recycled styles from previous decades, notably the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
