“The Increasing Liminality of One J. Fenton” is a fic/au idea I had in which Jazz starts slowly realizing they’re trans and becoming liminal concurrently. I have some of the fic written and the strips draw directly from it, but I haven’t posted it anywhere yet. Transmasc!Jazz is just a very selfish au, and I love them. I’ll probably do some more stuff later with transfemme Jazz.

i’m going to be starting a job soon where it looks like almost all of my coworkers/bosses are going to be cis women and i am…terrified. especially since this is the job i’m going to have to get time off from for top surgery.

if there’s one thing i’ve learned over the almost ten years of my transition, it’s that a situation where i’m the only guy there is one where my gender is guaranteed to not be respected. it really feels like far too many cis women realize they’re alone with a trans man and just see it as an opportunity to act out some sort of power fantasy where they get to stick it to the big bad evil men by taking out their anger on the first man they see without the power to fight back. that or they decide you’re “just one of the girls” and will not hear otherwise, but honestly, given where i’m at in my physical transition, i have a feeling the former is more likely.

there was a time when i felt safer around cis women than around cis men, but now it’s just a different kind of threat.

I don't think I've mentioned how much I love jazz as a character. He's great. One of my favourite npcs even if he wasn't around for long he is so gender, yknow? Queen is also incredibly gender like their design is probably my favourite npc design overall it's so cool

i think the other thing i am trying to say about this but can't figure out how to word. is that it is a desire to retain a level of privilege that looking and being the way that the people who tend to act like that about transition are afforded access to. when you are skinny and "pretty" and "unthreatening" in the way they tend to be, you can move through spaces and use power that you flatly can't once you lose these traits. especially in lgbt circles. and there is a reason the usually defining traits of the person who is acting like this are that they're skinny, white, and tme.

You don't have to be a girl to stop being a man.

If you're a "cis guy" and not super jazzed about it? Just stop! You don't need anything else! Gender should be fun and make you happy. Either talk to a transmasc friend about how to do masculinity joyously, or strike out on your own and just make one that works for you.

Maybe you will end up a girl! Maybe you'll build yourself a crazy palace of gender out in the shadowlands with me. Maybe you'll end up agender and happy you dumped the dead weight behind. Maybe you'll be a cis+ guy, or part of a guy. Maybe you'll be like me and your girlness is a harmonic series that will never converge. You don't have just one option.

Starscream: The Transformers (1986-1987): This whole show was SUPER corny tbh but I really loved Starscream's personality and character arc. I feel like a lot of the newer series just make him shriller and whinier, which is fine I suppose, but I always kinda felt like he had the potential for more depth than that. He's still a huge bitch but he's the huge bitch I love

Jazz and Prowl. Just in general. I'm BIG on that "straight laced lawful good and his subtly scarier chaotic neutral friend" and when I was in middle school and deeply into the bayverse I was super upset they left Prowl out and didn't show them interact. Prowl is a bit of a Ross here and there and unfortunately is a literal police car but idk

Drift: Transformers: DRIFT Comics version. Because giant robots, swords, and underdog 'bad guy' redemption stories all kick like fuck. Michael Bay can once again kiss my lily white ass about it

Ratchet: All Versions. Ratchet is my grandpa. The Leonard McCoy of this enterprise. If you don't like him you're objectively wrong. I cried real tears when I saw what they did to him in the live action run. Repeat: Michael Bay, my ass, etcetera.

Sideswipe: Bayverse. No real reason, just that teenaged Teaboot thought giant robot with knife arms was hot and adult Teaboot agrees. Would have been interesting to see Sunstreaker too, I love those big stupid jerks.

But you know at the end of the day beyond lovable characters I think this part may have had the strongest impact

Obviously this was a cover-your-butt moment for not having enough female characters and explaining why robots have ""genders"" but explicitly saying "gender isn't real, it's a human construct, and our bodies don't reflect our reality" was not the worst way they could have gone with it. (Talking in transmasc)
