The issue with mental illness is once you get a diagnosis, sometimes the stigma refuses to see you anything more than that.

As it’s World Bipolar Day on the 30th, I wanted to do this, I also have borderline personality disorder so there’s two flowers on here to represent two illnesses.

The black and white hydrangea= BPD

And the flower two colour schemes= bipolar.

The purple flowers I wanted on there to represent things I consider “traumas/abuse” which is why it’s close to the BPD.

Over the years with mental illness we all get told things which are unhelpful, these are some of the more common ones or at least the more memorable ones for me. Some aren’t even associated with my bipolar although there were people in the past who preferred the hypomanic side, but that’s not unheard of in bipolar- note to people if someone pushes you to come off your meds to get you to go hypomanic/manic, run away.

Factoring a mental health issue into a relationship isn’t easy, it’s like telling your date you have kids, it’s trying to figure out the right time because you know it opens up a whole load of issues and they may never call back.

But with Mental Health issues such as #bpd, and others, we have this issue of once in an established relationship getting into a cycle of getting attached, sense of abandonment means we don’t want them to leave, but then (almost) destroying it with our own paranoia.

Inner child (2021)

A wounded inner child is often linked to a person through trauma and can feed off of them in vulnerable situations.

I was told a lot throughout childhood and adolescence to “grow up,” despite me actually being a child and having a known disability (dyspraxia) which could explain why I acted differently (later in adulthood I was also diagnosed with autism) annoyingly my mother is also known to act immature as well. Along with other experiences I was forced to grow up too quickly, it’s through putting some aspects of youthfulness in some of my artwork (Instagram- Nightmarecatart ) I try to accept that it is ok for me to be me and give my inner child an outlet.

I’m a picky eater due to my autism, although I haven’t got a good relationship with food or eating, I have anorexic tendencies as part of my BPD and OCD with food what I do eat, and my anxiety flares up double when eating in public, so eating out on any occasion is an event and a half.
