⸺ Mein Name ist Alan Wake. Ich bin Schriftsteller, vor allem bekannt für meine Krimireihe "Alex Casey". Geboren wurde ich vor 46 Jahren in New York City. Um meine Schriftblockade zu bewältigen, bin ich mit meiner Frau Alice für einen kleinen Urlaub nach Bright Falls im US-Bundesstaat Washington gefahren, wo ich mich mit meinem guten Freund und Agenten Barry Wheeler getroffen habe.

Dort wurde meine Frau entführt. Die Dinge die dann um mich herum geschahen, kann ich zwar nacherzählen, aber ich kann mir noch immer nicht erklären wie das alles passiert ist...

Eine Geschichte an die ich mich nicht erinnern konnte. Meine Worte wurden Wirklichkeit. Um meine Frau zu retten, bleib mir nur eine Möglichkeit: ich musste mich selbst dahin schreiben, wo man sie hingebracht hatte. Alice war frei. Ich gefangen. Und wir waren immer noch getrennt.

13 Jahre lang habe ich gegen meinen eigenen Verstand gekämpft, um dem Dark Place zu entkommen. Nachdem ich es geschafft hatte, erzählte man mir, dass mein Alter Ego "Scratch" an meiner Stelle in die Realität zurück geschickt wurde. Aber die Gerüchte um mein Verschwinden haben ihn korrumpiert. Er wurde zum Herald of Darkness, und damit war Alice direkt in Gefahr. Ich habe ihn aus dem Dark Place besiegen können, war aber weiterhin gefangen.

Und dann kam sie. Saga Anderson. Im Jahr 2023 hat sie mich befreit. Wie sie das geschafft hat, weiß ich nicht. Ich erinnere mich nur daran wie ich am Ufer des Cauldron Lakes aufgewacht. Dort, wo ich vor all den Jahren auch ins Wasser gegangen war. Ich lebte. In der Realität. Ohne Alice.

Und Scratch ist mit mir gekommen.

the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.

if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
