TL;DR: Steam just made library sharing so much fucking easier and so much fucking better. Instead of login-trading, it's just a simple goddamn invite.
Read this. Really. It's a good read. Because it shows that, full-stop, Valve isn't just doubling down on their stance to make sure that people can and should be able to share their copies of digital goods as easily as they can physical ones, but they're making it better and easier than ever.
But you know how Steam allowed you to, with either friends or family, link accounts with another person to be able to establish an ability to share game libraries with one another? The general gist of Steam Family Sharing was that, with a limit of five people plus you (six in total) on a limit of ten computers total could share account access to willingly mix your libraries. You could play theirs. They could play yours.
This was a huge boon. It was meant to emulate sharing a physical copy of a game. A way to allow children to play games their parents or siblings had bought without having to fork over double the cash to buy it a second game. But it had some major limitations and drawbacks, and was archaic to use.
If a person did not share the same computer, you had to manually log into that computer to give it and the accounts on it access. This wouldn't be a problem if both accounts were used on the same computer, but many households (and astronomically more family and friend groups) had multiple computers, all used by different people.
If that computer, at any point, was hard reset to any point before the sharing occurred, you lost access. And had to do the whole process again. This was also an issue with computer transfers. The whole kit and kaboodle needed to be redone on upgrades. On top of that, the old computer is now just dead weight that you may not realize you have to manually revoke access to.
Putting your account information on another person's computer opens up security issues. They could, intentionally or accidentally, land themselves on your account if the login information was stored. Which could easily lead to purchases or bans you did not want to happen.
If anyone was, at any point, playing any game on their own library, you had no access to their games. Even if it was a totally different game, you had to wait your turn as if waiting for their computer to be freed up to sit at. (Admittedly this is kind of like the "mom said it's my turn on the xbox" meme, but hey, kinda archaic.)
You could not choose whose library you accessed a game from. Not at all. It always prioritized the first library it gained access from, DLC access and multiplayer be damned. If another friend you were accepting games from had more DLC? Too bad.
And yet here we are. Steam Families Beta fixes EVERYTHING about the above issues. By just going through Settings > Interface > client Beta Participation and clicking onto Steam Families Beta? You get:
No more login sharing. No more computer links. You can now choose which person's library you borrowed from. And you can play any other game from someone's library, even while they're in-game. It just needs to be a different game than what they're playing.
Pick five people. Invite them to your family. And now everyone has access to everyone's library. My goddamn library went from 150-ish to almost a goddamn thousand in ten minutes of setup.
Account sharing and password sharing are dirty words that "lose" billions of dollars. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Max. They aren't game storefronts, but they still allow you to access massive libraries and scream like you murdered their firstborns for daring to share your password with your mother after you moved out.
Microsoft tried pushing to demonize and undercut used games sales and borrowed copies of physical games. Remember the first attempt to reveal the Xbox One? People forget, but these vultures tried to make an always online console that checked to see if you were the account that owned the game, even if you had a physical disc, and prevent access to the disc's contents if you weren't the original downloader.
Valve walked the fuck up. Valve tapped the mic. And Valve dropped the fucking thing right onto the ground with one feature's revamp.
About the only issues I can see with this are twofold:
If someone sharing your library gets banned from a game's servers... so do you. No one else in the family does, but the both of you do. This is... rather unpleasant, because banhammers can be dropped quite frequently by mistake. I'd urge Valve to rethink this one, but I see the logic: don't cheat and effectively bite the hand feeding you. Still making me side-eye that, though.
If you leave a family you've joined? You have to wait a YEAR to join a new one. It's to prevent people form jumping ship to another group and screwing over who's in the former one in the process, but a YEAR? OUCH.
Problems aside, though... it's probably the biggest fucking power move I have ever seen a media distributor make in the current economic climate. It's the kind of thing that would let so many new games be available in a way that's easier than ever. Just a few clicks to send or accept an invite, and bam. Permanent access to dozens or even hundreds of new games with so much more freedom than earlier drafts of the system.
It's the kind of thing that slaps you in the face with positivity after so many Ls from the games and media industries. And I'm all the fuck for a W like this.

any thoughts on the new post that staff went scorched earth on which is now making the rounds abt tumblr live? it basically screenshots all the tos and claims if you've ever opened the app (or in some rbs, unsnoozed live) tumblr has gotten your data. on the one hand i feel like this is fearmongering, but on the other its true that MOST sites have your data as is so its pretty standard. you seem pretty knowledgeable abt data gathering so i was wondering abt your take
This is going to be pretty unkind but watching tumblr users interact with staff and live is a great primer on how conspiracy theories happen.
Nobody on this fucking website knows how to read a ToS, nobody on this website knows how anything fucking works (sorry, this is not a dig at you but how would tumblr "get" your data from you clicking or unclicking live; the only data that tumblr has on you is the data that you have put on tumblr what data do people think that clicking the "new" button is scooping up that is anything beyond interactions or posts or IP addresses which are the things that tumblr already has information about like you do not introduce new information into the tumblr ecosystem by clicking a button you haven't installed anything you haven't changed permissions on your browser if everyone is so goddamned scared about live stealing their data i strongly recommend they stop using anything but public internet through an anonymizer and making sure location data is shut off on all of their devices and anyone who is flipping their shit about the type of data that live is collecting but who is using chrome on any device needs to chill the fuck out about live and flip the fuck out about google)
this is like that post about twitter's content policy that circulated the other day or that post about deviantart's content policy that circulated ten fucking years ago nobody knows how to read legal documents and nobody knows how to read technical documentation and this comes together into unholy matrimony on the no reading comprehension at all moral panic website
live never violated the GDPR it was just rolled out in the US first but the entire userbase decided that because it hadn't been rolled out simultaneously in the EU and the US that it was SO UNSPEAKABLY PRIVACY VIOLATEY THAT THE EU HAD BANNED IT FOR ITS CRIMES with, like, nothing whatsoever backing that up because, again, even at its most intrusive Live collects about as much data as Twitter or Yelp, both of which are *capable* of meeting GDPR standards with that level of data collection (even if musk sometimes makes decisions that violate GDPR).
Live is significantly less intrusive than any facebook product, than Amazon, and than any Google product. If you use youtube logged in, don't worry about live, the horse is out of the barn and tumblr is the least of your worries *regardless* of live. If you regularly use Google as a search engine please god learn how to evaluate and compare risks across platforms because Live is like a coughing baby compared to about a dozen things that most highly online people interact with every single day.
If you don't want to use live don't use live. Clicking the button doesn't magically transfer your secret FBI file to tumblr and even agreeing to the ToS doesn't share anything that tumblr doesn't already have if you don't continue to interact - if you don't interact with live after agreeing to the ToS it's not collecting any data except your non-interaction.
For everyone who is losing it over Live just turn off your goddamned location on your fucking cellphone and turn off your location on your goddamned computers and that's it, you're good, you're fine, relax. If your response to "turn off your location" is "but I need it for _____" then don't worry about Live, whatever "_____" is was already collecting and selling your data.
Do you use an activity tracker? Congrats, you have much, much bigger privacy issues to worry about than tumblr live.
Okay but also I yelled about that post and the very many ways in which it was incorrect in January.
And I happened to take an archive of the page at that time because I'm a paranoid motherfucker.
And if you want my guess as to why staff went "scorched earth" on that post it's probably because if you scroll down to the bottom of the page on the archive, OP calls on everyone looking at the post to send a kind fuck you to the CEO then tagged his tumblr.
If you look at the other posts that went scorched earth in relation to tumblr staff they were also posts that very pointedly directed a lot of ire at a single staff member.
I don't think that any individual tumblr staff members are above criticism and I don't think that staff as a whole is above criticism but part of learning to read a ToS is understanding that someone can be shitty and vague and use TERF talking points and skirt the line and be technically okay under the ToS while someone can have a legitimate gripe about another user being horrible and manage to violate the ToS by accidentally spinning up a harassment campaign or suicide baiting someone.
Shitty people like nazis and terfs thrive on being edge cases. They are very good at finding a boundary and standing juuuuuuuuust on this side of it and going "la la la I'm not violating the ToS, you can't stop me!" and that blows and it leads to a lot of people encountering a lot of shitty stuff on a lot of websites but personally I'm pretty glad that there's a lot of gray area because when you cut out gray area that's when you see things like It's Going Down getting banned as extremist content alongside white supremacists. Please continue to report nazis and terfs, and when possible go deep into their pages to report because a pattern of behavior is more likely to get recognized as hate speech than a single post that gets reported a hundred times. Please block as many people who it's harmful for you to interact with as possible because it's clear that staff is not going to do the kind of work protecting users that users would like staff to do.
However I just can't get angry on behalf of a blogger who got nuked for saying "Hey everyone who hates this feature that we all hate please go tell the CEO to fuck himself at this URL specifically" - that is an extremely clear violation of the ToS because it is absolutely targeted harassment.
So now tumblr-the-userbase is going off on its merry conspiracy way skipping through fields and lacking reading comprehension and saying "users are getting banned for reporting the crimes of tumblr live and its gdpr violations" and ignoring the fact that the post was nuked because the last line was saying "hey everyone, let's all individually tell the CEO to fuck off in messages sent directly to him that are certainly not going to include any threats, exaggerations, gore, etc. etc. etc."
If I were to make a post that had 50k notes and the last line was "and while you're at it, please send tumblr-user-ms-demeanor a personalized message telling them why they're a terrible person so they know what we think of them" it would absolutely be reasonable to say that was harassing that user. And that post did it with the CEO. Who is not above criticism (and I have my criticisms! I don't think he really gets tumblr and that's a problem!), but jesus fucking christ don't tag the goddamned CEO or any other staff member in a call to action asking users to send them messages saying "fuck off" this is literally the stupidest thing I've ever seen a tumblr conspiracy theory coalesce around.
Anyway thank you for giving me a place to vent i've been getting more and more pissed about this for three days. Everyone feel free to kindly tell tumblr user ms demeanor to fuck off.

🎀 Current At Home Workout Equipment I Own
Thick Yoga Mat - since I do mainly yoga and pilates my thick yoga may (amazon brand) has served me well. Even tho I am a heavier woman at the moment, I've never had pain or any issues with this mat, and it came with a carry strap which I love! A good, thick workout mat is definitely necessary for working out at home for comfort, safety, etc. Make sure to disinfect it on occasion, especially if you sweat on it a lot!
Resistance Bands - I have about 3 or 4 at different resistance strengths, and they're incredibly useful for a variety of movements, especially lower body ones. They add some extra resistance and make the workouts a bit more challenging when you need something more advanced. I also got mine from Amazon/Walmart a while back. I prefer fabric over rubber because I like to wear workout shorts instead of workout leggings.
Pilates Ball - not a necessity, but useful with some pilates workouts and movements. I have seen sole videos using this, but am not advanced enough to try it on my own yet. Will use for sure once I'm more advanced.
3lb dumbbells - I thought these would be useful for the pilates workouts that had some upper body focus, and as someone who wants to develop a lean and toned upper body, they are perfect for low weight high rep, controlled movements. Again, not advanced enough to use as I want to master my form, but they're gonna come in handy for sure!
Foam Roller - so so good for stretching and muscle recovery on rest days. I love mine but want one that has the bump things on it to help my muscles more. I can imagine how good it'll feel on my legs during a recovery day when I begin wieght lifting again.
Massage Gun - my holy grail for the days I am sore and needing some recovery. my body feels like jelly after using this, and it's just so nice for the days my muscles feel extra tight and super sore.
🎀 Equipment I Want To Buy
Yoga Blocks - these will help me get deeper into the yoga poses once I get more advanced in my practice
Pilates Ring - this honestly looks so fun and challenging to use, I'd love to add it to my collection of useful workout equipment!
Jump Rope - I used to love this as a form of cardio and as long as I don't move into an upstairs apartment, I'm definitely buying one
Pilates Bar - still iffy on this one, it's supposed to mimic a reformer but I want to get better at mat pilates and see if I even end up ever needing or seriously wanting to buy it, its on my list tho
Ankle/Wrist weights - these are gonna be so useful for workouts where hand held dumbbells aren't useful. Want to buy some low weight ones just to help with resistance and extra strength during pilates workouts
Kettlebell weight - I think this would be useful for a workout at home type situation if and when I switch to not doing just pilates and yoga. I know these are useful in their own right, but not needed in my current fitness stage of life.
Core Sliders - these look fun and interesting. They're on my lost for sure, but not sure about the practicality of their use in my life just yet.
That's all that's currently on my at home workout equipment list! As someone who primarily works out at home, the things I currently own are most useful and most of what's on this list is for fun or extra challenge. Just not necessary yet.
hope you enjoyed this list! if you have any questions about my favorite youtuber workout instructors or favorite videos, please feel free to ask, I've tried so many and can give some guidance from my own experience and research.
til next time lovelies 🩷

Dead Sunsets Outfits (click for clarity)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This will probably be one of my last posts before I go dark for finals :3 please hold off on asks for the next 2 weeks! I’ll get started on MerMay when I get back!
The funniest part of all of this is that even tho I draw so many outfits and fashion, I have the wardrobe of an 11 year old boy.
+ The idea of this collection of photos was ‘what if each character got involved within their partner’s worlds?’ As such, each of them explore the Ghost Zone, Gotham, and Themyscira (which I believe is now combined with Bana-Mighdall, if you’re wondering why I didn’t mention Bana-Mighdall). Gotham technically has 3 outfits bc that’s where they’re all living now.
+ In the Ghost Zone, masks are usually worn as burial shrouds or burial masks. As royalty (and consorts to royalty), Jazz wears a wolf skull, while Jason wears a ram skull and Artemis wears a boar skull. You can also see the skull masks on the Phantom Family here.
+ In Themyscira, I combined a whole bunch of Greek, Egyptian, and Amazon DC fashion. Jason’s was surprisingly both the hardest and least hardest outfit to make bc I was very ??? when trying to figure out what men wore in Themyscira. I eventually landed on just armor, while both Artemis and Jazz wear dresses and other outfits.
+ In a Crime Gang, I imagine that this is what they wear when associating with Jason and his gang. Jason wears his usual attire, Jazz is his assistant, and Artemis is their bodyguard, but dressed in an outfit inspired by her mercenary clothes (which I fucking love). All three wear very dark and practical clothes.
+ In Disguise, this is a reference to this one-shot, where both Jazz and Artemis disguise themselves as Jason’s escort and bodyguard. Something something sexy women, I am obsessed.
+ In Gotham Outing, they dress casually :3 Artemis is specifically inspired by butch fashion, while Jazz dresses in femme fashion lmao. Jason is Jason.

Unethical fur farms, Yarn tails and Faux fur
It's a little alarming that people may not know about cruelty fur farms and unethical fur tails, so I'll put my little guide on how I usually spot them. I'll also have a little section comparing faux fur, yarn tails and real tails.
How to spot Unethically sourced fur
Everything I know is by my experience, as well as research I have done via youtube videos. Thorn from Therian Territiory has an excellent video talking about the subject, (Click Here) But I will summerise below if you want to get straight to the point.
A key feature I find when it comes to unethical tails is this goddamn golden keychain
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have 4 tails with this keychain and all of them are of varying quality - however I don't doubt they are from unethical fur farms.
Another key detail is The tail is thin, the fur brittle and the leather has not been scraped correctly, meaning there is fat from the animal it once came from. Have you ever bought a tail, looking at the leather within and there has been yellow patches? That is animal fat that should have been scraped away.
I avoid buying from Chinese or Korean sellers as that is usually where unethical fur comes from, there are very little rights to animals within these countries, so there is no guarantee the animal had a good life before being killed. As stated earlier, Thorn goes into detail on this subject, although I must warn you the contents He speaks about are quite upsetting.
I would also avoid buying from Amazon, temu, wish, shein and Ebay, as the tails bought from these sites are usually of questionable Quality.
So, where can I buy ethical fur from...?
I highly recommend Etsy, Always check the reviews from sellers - check how thin the tail is and check for that pesky key chain. As a personal caution, beware of cheap tails as there is a good chance they are drop shipped from unethical fur farms, I'd bought a cheap tail from a sale here in Australia (With the golden keychain) and the tail was sadly not great Quality...So always check for that keychain. I hear people can buy tails from Renfaires, oddity and taxidermy markets.

Authentic fur vs Yarn tails vs Faux Fur
I've seen there's quite a debate on which is the best to buy and best for the enviroment. I'm sure all of you have your reasons for swinging this way or that way, so I'll just list some pros and cons
Authentic Tails
Pros
Good for the environment as it is bio-degradable
Beautiful to look at
you will never find 2 identical tails
If well looked after, can last you a lifetime
supporting small buisness
Cons
Expensive
From a real animal
Yarn Tails
Pros
Fun craft
heavily customizable
cheap to make
Cons
Time consuming to make
Getting the supplies can be a pain
not completely biodegradable (Yarn has plastic)
Faux Fur
Pros
An animal didn't have to die for it
Durable if made right
Cons
not bio-degradable (Faux fur has plastic)
faux fur is expensive

If you have questions feel free to send them to my ask box, I'll do my best to answer them as best I can - I'm not an expert or a professional in this field, just someone with a bit of knowledge.
I hope this helped keep you all informed ♡ And remember, gear does not make you a Therian or Alterhuman - your non human identity does.
If you have anything to add please feel free to reblog with any additional information. I'd really appreciate it if someone who did Taxidermy were able to weigh in on this manner, as I'm just a dog who loves to collect tails :3

Hey! :) I’ve really been wanting to get into reading comics but I have no idea where to start 🥲
Do you have any recommendations or references for how to start reading about different dc characters? I mainly want to start reading about batman and the rest of his clan but I want to branch out to other characters as well
hi!! i've gotten this question a lot and i'm so sorry it's taken me so long to answer all of y'all! but i wanted to make sure if i made a list, it would be with the best references i could find, and that it made sense for even a beginner
what i've found is that... there's apparently no right answer? mostly, you'll find people recommending you to start with their favorite collections, like Batman: Hush, etc etc. from what i've been able to tell, getting into comics is about choosing one that sounds the most interesting to you, and going from there. if you like the collection you've picked up, then someone will recommend another collection, so on. a lot of people recommend that you start with a certain character, someone that you really like. so if Tim Drake is calling to you like many... many people, then you can find a reading guide for him and pick and choose from a collection. like this one from this blogger that helped me. one of my favorite characters is Cassandra Cain (though I don't write her as often, which kind of happens when I really like a character?). she has a Batgirl run!! Batgirl #1. (((please note that this link takes you to readallcomics.com, which you should use an adblocker for if you want to use this website. however!! it is very different from readcomics.com))) look how cool she is!!
Tumblr media
however I personally like to try and read in chronological order because I don't like missing out on anything. in my search, i found an amazingly ordered, extensive website called comicbookherald.com
i started using this because they have a list in chronological order for many, many, many characters in the DC universe:
https://www.comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/
one of the very first options on this list is Batman (listed in alphabetical), and when you click on him, you'll find exactly what you're looking for:
https://www.comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/batman-reading-order/
Tumblr media
the links on the actual titles in the list will take you to Amazon to buy the comic, but there are other ways to find these comics either online (like seen above with Batgirl #1) or through your local library (recommended). if your library doesn't have them, you might be able to find them at a nearby one or you can ask the librarian how a request works. they'd probably be happy to get it for you (support your local libraries!!!) you might find that you prefer going to a comic shop, and that's great too
i also looked up the publication history of the Batman comics using Wikipedia, just to make sure that I knew what i was doing, and i started with the very first on the list: Detective Comics #27. this is Bruce Wayne/Batman's very first appearance.
i also found some helpful videos that i personally have tried to follow:
"BATMAN 101: A GUIDE TO HELP YOU START READING BATMAN COMICS!" by History of the Batman
"Where to Start Reading Batman Comics | Best Batman Comics for Beginners in Collected Editions!" by Near Mint Condition
the issue is that it's pretty hard to read all of the characters at once and stay in order, which means you'll probably want to stick to reading one character at a time and piecing it together like that. but if you're feeling brave, i'd cross reference the years and publication history and go by the order of when each character shows up: start by reading Batman, and when Dick Grayson appears, look up his list and see how the publication history looks, and i guess start trying to read them side by side? the same would go for when Jason appears, then Tim, etc etc. but this might be VERY difficult, so i am very much recommending beginners to start by reading Batman's and branch out from there
my personal favorite right now is Batman & Robin: Year One because Dick Grayson is in it and he's so cute here in his Robin days
edit: adding on this ask i got about hoopla

okay everyone, please bear with me on this silly thought. i'm in the hospital, filled with drugs, and my brain is making me giggle.
adam loves pokémon. he is one of the most popular pokémon card youtubers. lucifer finds it extremely endearing and adorable. charlie is a huge fan of adam, and that's how lucifer finds out about him.
oh....my hand slipped....
...
Lucifer stood at the counter, a cloud of flour settling in the air as he worked the dough for a batch of cookies. The kitchen smelled of melted chocolate and vanilla, warmth filling the space despite the winter chill outside.
Seated at the table was his eight-year-old daughter, Charlie, her legs swinging under her chair as she sipped from a brightly colored mug and watched some YouTuber enthusiastically discuss Pokémon cards. Her giggles occasionally bubbled up, making Lucifer smile as he shaped the dough.
"This guy's been going on about fake Pokémon cards for ten minutes," Lucifer muttered under his breath, finding himself half-listening to the cheerful commentary.
As he slid the tray into the oven, his brow furrowed. Fake cards? He'd spent a small fortune on Charlie's collection. Making a mental note to check her cards later, he wiped his hands on a dish towel and turned to her.
He walked over to the table, placing her hot chocolate down with a gentle thud. "Who are you watching, sweetheart?"
Charlie looked up, her face lighting up with excitement.
"It's EdenCreatures!" she exclaimed, bouncing in her seat. "He does a lot of Pokémon videos! I love his videos, Daddy. He's so funny!"
Lucifer chuckled softly, his curiosity piqued. "EdenCreatures, huh?"
He leaned over, peering at the screen as Charlie clicked on a new video titled "Testing 1-Star Pokémon Products from Amazon!"
On the screen appeared a man with a boyish grin, brown hair slightly mussed, green eyes sparkling with mischief as he introduced the dubious products. Lucifer froze. His heart skipped a beat.
It was Adam.
Lucifer stared, his throat tightening. The man on the screen, effortlessly charismatic and charming, was unmistakably his childhood best friend. Memories came rushing back—summers spent laughing until their sides ached, hours playing video games in Adam's basement, late-night talks about their dreams for the future.
And then, the fallout.
Lucifer’s stomach churned as the old wound reopened. Adam had been his everything—his confidant, his partner-in-crime, his better half. But Lucifer had ruined it all with one reckless, selfish mistake: sleeping with Adam's girlfriend, Lilith.
He swallowed hard, his gaze dropping to Charlie, who was oblivious to the storm brewing in his chest. Lilith’s name still felt bitter on his tongue, but Charlie—Charlie was the light that had come out of all the darkness. When Lilith left, signing away her parental rights, Lucifer had sworn to be the best father he could be.
But Adam... He’d never forgiven Lucifer. And Lucifer couldn’t blame him.
"Daddy?" Charlie’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "Do you like him?"
She pointed at the screen, where Adam was laughing at a poorly printed Pikachu card.
Lucifer blinked, forcing a smile.
"He’s... he seems nice," he said carefully.
Charlie grinned. "He’s the best! You should watch his videos with me! Maybe we can even go to one of his meet-and-greets one day!"
Lucifer’s chest tightened at the thought. Could he face Adam again after all these years? After everything he’d done?
For now, he just reached over and ruffled Charlie’s hair.
"Maybe," he said softly, his eyes drifting back to the screen.
The man he'd lost so long ago was right there, larger than life, and Lucifer felt the weight of his loneliness pressing down on him. Maybe fate wasn’t done with him and Adam just yet.
~#~
Lucifer sat cross-legged on his bed, an iPad balanced on his lap. He was nestled beneath rich purple and black quilts, the soft fabric a comforting weight against the chill of the night. The clock on his bedside table glared 1:00 a.m., but sleep was the furthest thing from his mind. He couldn't stop watching Adam's videos.
Even if every single one was about Pokémon.
Lucifer's chest tightened as he watched Adam's face light up on the screen. His green eyes sparkled with excitement, his smile so genuine it sent a flutter through Lucifer’s heart. Adam’s cheerful voice rambled on about rare cards, Pokémon plushies, toys, clothing—anything and everything Pokémon. In one video, Adam was walking through the bustling streets of Tokyo, marveling at the Pokémon Center and stepping into Nintendo headquarters.
It was captivating.
Lucifer’s thumb absentmindedly swiped to the next video. Time blurred as he devoured them all, and before he realized it, the clock read 5:00 a.m. He had lost hours watching Adam, but he couldn’t bring himself to stop.
In many of the videos, Adam wasn’t alone. There was Lute, a quirky woman obsessed with Shadow Pokémon, who seemed to have a habit of battling Adam over cards. Then there was Eve, who adored Fairy Pokémon and dazzled in intricate cosplays that looked straight out of a fantasy world. A couple of videos even featured Adam visiting his mother, Sera, where the two would bake Pokémon-themed treats in a sunny kitchen.
Lucifer understood now why Charlie was so enamored with the channel. Adam’s charisma, his connections, his knack for storytelling—it all made for an irresistible combination. Lucifer had to admit he was hooked.
He leaned back against the headboard, debating whether he should finally put the iPad down and get some sleep. He was about to close the app when a notification popped up in the corner of the screen.
A new video has been uploaded to the EdenCreatures channel.
Lucifer’s exhaustion was instantly forgotten. His pulse quickened as he tapped the notification. The iPad screen dimmed slightly, warning of low battery, but he ignored it. He scrambled to retrieve the charger from his bedside drawer, his fingers fumbling as he plugged it in.
Finally, the screen brightened again, and the video began to play.
Lucifer’s heart nearly stopped.
The video opened with Adam seated in a cozy, brightly lit room, his familiar grin warming the screen. But what caught Lucifer's attention wasn’t Adam—it was the little girl on his lap.
She had long soft whiteish hair, and bright green eyes that mirrored Adam’s. She was giggling as Adam introduced her to the audience.
“This is my little star, Emily,” Adam said, his voice filled with pride and warmth. “She’s been begging to do a video with me, so today we’re opening some special Pokémon cards together. Right, Em?”
“Yeah!” Emily chirped, holding up a shiny pack of cards, her tiny hands trembling with excitement.
Lucifer stared at the screen, his chest tightening painfully. Adam had a daughter.
Adam had a daughter.
Lucifer’s mind raced, piecing together this revelation. Emily looked about five or six years old. That would mean... Adam must have had her a few years after their fallout. But who was her mother?
The question gnawed at him. Lucifer leaned closer to the screen, studying Emily’s features. She was undeniably Adam’s, but there were no hints of who the other parent might be. Was it someone new? Someone Adam had fallen in love with after everything that happened between them?
Lucifer’s stomach churned. The thought of Adam building a life, a family, without him was bittersweet. He was happy for Adam, of course, but it also made the loneliness in his own heart ache that much more.
On the screen, Adam and Emily were laughing as they opened their first pack of cards, their joy contagious. Lucifer couldn’t tear his eyes away.
But deep down, questions swirled in his mind, unanswered and relentless. Who is she? What happened in Adam’s life after I left it?
Lucifer’s heart ached as he watched them together, and for the first time in years, he felt a pang of longing—not just for Adam, but for the chance to make things right.
Maybe it was too late.
Or maybe... fate wasn’t done with him and Adam after all.
"I need to find out a way to contact him."

I had a problem getting a book delivered recently. I got my book in the end, so it's fine. It was just... Auspost being Auspost (repeatedly telling me I had "refused" delivery — sure, okay).
But when I was complaining about Auspost, two of the people I know were like, "Oh, goodness, whyever didn't you just buy it from Amazon? This never happens with Amazon."
I don't know if that's actually true, really; it seems like Auspost would fuck around regardless of sender. But even if it is... I really just like to cut Amazon out of the process when it's convenient and practical to do so? It's so nice to patronise your local indie bookseller. You feel like a force in favour of the underdogs of the world, drifting by and benevolently ordering the stupidest urban fantasy book you can find.
So that aside, I actually did contact my local indie bookseller via the contact form on its website. I wanted to check what to do in future (to excise Auspost from the process).
There was no saccharine chatbot experience and no generic response based on keywords and definitely no "Here's 160 help topics in an interminable decision tree! Please don't talk to us! Ever!"
They just ignored me over the weekend because it was the weekend. And then an actual person replied to me on the next business day. She had the specific answer to the specific question I asked. Next time I want a book that's not in stock, yes, I can call up and order it to their store and just come to the store and pick it up when it arrives, even though they do not yet have an online click and collect system. How very 1998 of them.
Call me old fashioned if you like, but this is truly the experience I wanted. ┐( ˘_˘)┌

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was initiated by the arrest of Rosa Parks on December 1, 1955, when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger, violating the city's segregation laws that required Black people to sit at the back of the bus. It should also be noted that Black people could not be bus drivers in Montgomery, Alabama. Injustice perpetrated against Black people was the root cause of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
The boycott launched against companies in America (i.e. Target, Meta Platforms, Amazon, McDonalds, Walmart, Ford, Lowes, Harley-Davidson, Brown-Foreman, John Deere, Tractor Supply) today, who rolled back their DEI programs, results from injustice perpetrated against Black people.
What made the boycott of the Montgomery Bus System successful was that Black folk were unified in sacrifice because they recognized that there was STRENGTH IN UNITY. The Black citizenry of Montgomery refused to ride the buses in their city for 381 days until segregation on the buses was no longer the law in Montgomery. This represented a major victory for the Civil Rights Movement. This boycott called for major sacrifices of our people back then because many Black people caught the buses to and from work. The sacrifices they made were far greater than the sacrifice we are asking Black people to make today when we ask you to boycott companies that have rolled back their DEI programs. We are not asking you to stop shopping for products and services that you need. We are asking you to boycott the aforementioned companies who rolled back their DEI programs.
Movements today require unified sacrifice. There is STRENGTH IN UNITY. The sacrifice we are asking you to make today is really to our collective advantage as a people. We are asking you to give up the convenience of shopping at familiar White businesses who will no longer hire you for a job and BUY THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES YOU NEED AT A BLACK OWNED BUSINESS. If you are interested in searching for Black Owned Businesses from which to buy products and services, check out our website at:
https://www.blackrevolutionarycollective.com/
Click on the menu (double bars) in the upper right hand corner and then click the “Buy Black List” link. This will take you to a list of products and services. Click on the product or service of which you have an interest and you will be directed to the links of Black Owned Businesses in various geographical locations or online where you can purchase the product or service.
The purpose of our boycott today is for Black people to demonstrate the same solidarity to White Corporate America that the Black people in Montgomery demonstrated to the segregated city of Montgomery, Alabama back in the 1950’s. What we want to demonstrate to White Corporate America with our dollars is that WE ARE UNIFIED AND WILL NOT TOLERATE INJUSTICE PERPETRATED AGAINST OUR PEOPLE WITHOUT PUNISHING YOU ECONOMICALLY FOR IT BY SPENDING OUR DOLLARS ELSEWHERE.
Why would you ever want to spend your hard earned dollars somewhere you can’t even work?
Wake Up Black People!
