Drown
Danny knows what his parents are. He’s seen things people don’t tend to see. He’s grown up around the arcane and unrealistic.
Doubting it’s reality was never something he did. Not the way his sister always tried to.
But then, Jazz had spent her early years in house, going to school and having friends, ignorant as the people they passed by. All Danny remembered was traveling.
Danny’s earliest memories were of the RV, of his parents doing government work.
That’s why Danny knew without a doubt, monsters were real. Every kind was strange and spectacular; Danny wouldn’t have minded the idea joining his parents professionally if what they did didn’t always end up so violent.
He thought of a writhing black thing, a cat with too many tongues and too many teeth, caught in a glowing green net.
He thought of seals strung up like butchers meat, skin pulling in places like a slow-falling coat.
He thought of a hydra’s fallen heads twitching, a harpoon thrust through their body.
Danny’s parents were hunters, and they hunted monsters.
This wasn’t something Danny was too-strongly opinionated about.
Sure, he didn’t like the way people would look at his parents like they were insane sometimes, and he always tried to avoid staying near the RV when things got messy. But, he got to see a lot of places. And he didn’t really feel like he was missing out on much, being homeschooled.
Really Danny’s life is good. Everything is fine.
Or at least, it was.
It was, before his parents took a boat out on sea, the shore still relatively close.
It was, before his parent caught some massive scaled thing that looked a little to human for him to be comfortable with, and he couldn’t go far as it’s screeches grew quiet, because they were on a boat.
It was, until Danny gone to the railing and focused on the waves, knowing from experience he wouldn’t throw up if rode out his nausea.
And then all of a sudden it wasn’t, because the boat was rocking, and Danny had tipped over the edge, and something much bigger than whatever his parents had caught was dragging him down, down, down.
If he didn’t panic, he might have lasted longer, but he thrashed and struggled and tried to swim up.
It was no use.
And the water filled his lungs. And the pressure filled his ears. And his throat burned as he tried to scream between each intake of water.
His eyes stung, both from the water and unshed tears, as his vision darkened.
He got one good look at the one that had pulled him down to this fate. A woman, he thought, with a salmon hide and green skin, and matted white hair.
“A child for a child.” She might have said, voice like venom.
Then everything went dark.
oOo
Danny dreamt.
He Dreamt of magic and moonlight making him new.
He dreamt of waking up, his eyes too round, taking in a world of darkness like it was made from light.
He dreamt of feeling every wave and fish around him through the twitch of whiskers.
And in that dream, he swims with flippers and tail, contorting through waters until he remembers the blinding shore. All blurry shapes and sand and sharp smells as he drags himself up.
And then he wakes up.
oOo
Danny will wake up and draw a too-far line of what were and weren’t dreams.
He will wake up and see himself shivering on the sands of a shore, his parents boat not too far in the distance, and he will think washed up on the beach after falling off the boat.
He will let himself think it was only an accident and will try to keep tears from his eyes as he thinks of drowning.
He will hug his coat comfort, only to realize he hadn’t been wearing one.
He throw the garment away from himself reflexively for its too-close resemblance to the seal skins his parents seemed so eager to destroy.
He will struggle to his feet, and try to stop turning back to see if the coat is still there, unharmed and safe.
He will receive help calling his parents back to shore, will face comfort and relief that soothes him.
He will think of how much more soothing the coat would be.
He will be wrapped up in the RV and be safe and tended to, inexplicably not sick, but he will still feel like there are a thousand grains of sand pricking his skin.
He will listen Jazz argue with their parents, unable to mediate or reassure, because all he can think of will be soft furs on a beach and a dream that felt too real.
He will wait until the dead of night, the day before they’re set to leave, and he will return to the beach.
He will dig for hours until he finds his coat.
He will feel hands running down his own skin as he gently dusts its furs clean.
He will see the spotted pattern ripple underneath his fingertips.
He will wear it and look to the sea and consider.
He will decide.
He will wrench himself away, and hide the coat so deep in his mess of clothes it’s suffocating, and try to never think of what happened to every seal his parents caught, to every cloak his parents found.
He will try not to remember dying.

DP x DC prompt - A Pariah Dark Who Works Two Jobs 🎶
SingleDad!Pariah Dark
After a disastrous war with the GIW, Danny was the last remaining Halfa. And one of two remaining Fentons.
Ellie/Dani had sacrificed her core to repair Danny's fracturing one - and it was only his promise to live enough for the both of them that kept him from breaking down.
Dan was technically closer to three-quarters!ghost than half.
Dan.
Danny never considered that there would be a day that he would consider one of his greatest enemies - one of his greatest fears - as one of his closest confidants and friend.
Dan had taken over the elder sibling role after...Jazz had died. She never reformed as a ghost, content with seeing her younger brother make it out alive.
Jack and Maddie Fenton - Danny's parents. Even now, there are times he considers them his parents. Even as they stood over his body and nearly pulled his core from his body. Even as they turned a deaf ear to his screams and pleas. There was a part of him that still loved them. He wondered if their Obsession with ghosts would have them reform as one.
And now, to address the elephant in the room.
The war had gotten so bad, that they had released Pariah Dark in a final effort to eradicate the GIW.
It was a pyrrhic victory.
They had won - but the three of them, Danny, Dan, and Pariah Dark had found themselves stranded in another universe. One filled with superheroes and supervillains alike.
Dan and Danny had reverted to their ghost ages - a young toddler for Danny and a young child for Dan. Fortunately for them, they kept a majority of their powers.
Unfortunately for Pariah Dark, he found himself severely weakened, and in a body that was closer to a liminal than a ghost.
As the sole adult among the trio (and reluctant guardian of two young children) - Pariah Dark found himself job-hunting in a city called [INSERT CHOICE OF CITY HERE].
At least the local hero/villain was good-looking.

I haven't seen anyone else talk about this yet so I'm going to assume no one has (and if this is the millionth post about this I am so sorry), but apparently there was a leak at Viacom last month, and one of the things that got leaked was the original Danny Phantom pitch bible, and let me tell y'all, there is some interesting lore to be had. I've taken the liberty of summing up a few notable points, but feel free to read for yourself - it's pretty short.
Jack was originally written as an ex-spy, test pilot... basically if it was a daring job, he probably had it. His IQ was supposedly only one point off from Maddie's, and his bumbling was more of a result of him being more "brave than smart."
Maddie was originally written as "one of the world's most respected theoretical physicists" and the brains between her and Jack. Get this: her full name was supposed to be Madison!
Sam and Danny's psychic connection was actually a result of the accident. When he was in the hospital and still very much saturated with ectoplasm, she gave him a "get better" kiss on the forehead, which sparked the connection. The connection would've manifested in a number of ways, including a perpetual ability to "sense" the other, see visions, and hear each other's thoughts, though it was supposed to be somewhat unpredictable.
Jazz hid her brains from her cheerleader friends because she wanted to fit in with them.
Danny was supposed to be the only person able to see, hear, and interact with ghosts.
On the subject of Danny, his reputation for being a scaredy-cat was much more well-known, even to the point where Sam and Tucker gave him the nickname Danny Phantom before he even had his accident. This kid was scared of his own shadow, frogs, you name it.
Overshadowing was originally called "ghosting," and the more intelligent a person, the more difficult it would be to control them.
Jack and Maddie were hoping to break the barrier between the "Real World" (our world) and the "Unreal World" (the ghost world). They wanted to get through to the spirit realm to be able to communicate with the dead in order to help make the world a better place (think picking Einstein's brain a little more, seeing what other music Mozart has cooking, etc.). That dimensional barrier was damaged when they first tried out their experiment, and Danny - who was hiding out from Dash in the lab - would be caught in the middle.
Much like how fans have interpreted things and how the show tried to imply, Danny felt responsible for unleashing the ghosts into our world and decided to adopt the name Sam and Tucker had teased him with to help put a stop to their reign of terror.
Seriously, y'all should read this. There's a lot of interesting info in here, and really it sounds like such a cool concept?? Like I'll probably add my personal thoughts in a reblog, but there's a lot of potential for untapped creativity from the phandom here. Plus it's always nice to see what's technically official content almost 20 years after the show's premiere.

So in a lot of these monster hunting fantasy webcomics, you have these things called monster cores. Imagine, if you will, an AU where the Justice League has always been in a world like this. Maybe an alternate earth, maybe the aliens are from different planes instead of planets, maybe you've got magic as the primary force and yet there's some who still manage to stick almost entirely to tech/magitech (like Bruce). These cores are essentially batteries, and the more powerful the monster the more energy you can draw. Also, I love the idea that, if you put it together right, you can technically recharge it.
Enter, the Phamily. Either they are from this world and the Fentons are monster hunters trying to find the origin place of the monsters, or this isn't their original world and they're trying to open a portal home.
Danny, Ellie, Dan, and Vlad if he's there, have cores. These can be considered batteries just looking at the way ectoplasm is used (imagine how much more potent the cores would be than the globs). Jazz, the parents, and Danny's friends if they're there too are liminal. This could mean that magic considers them part monster despite no cores, or maybe they're considered akin to warlocks or sorcerers, looked down upon but not actively hunted or something. Although the presence of the half monster kids and what seems to be a half monster dad... (yes this is probably a family breakfast ship, sue me if you dare) well, Vlad is gonna be determined to fight off the rumors with whatever he's got, there's no need for his darling Maddie to get worked up about idiots, aside from him and Jack of course. (I also love Vlad x Connie so this could either be Vlad is just an uncle or we get Connie in and call it Family Party or something - Party cause alcohol?)
Also not entirely sure on how I'm writing Bruce and Dick here, I want them to be able to access magic in some way, but sensing magic might be more of an Oracle/Barbara thing, I'm not sure, but also they can't do anything big or flashy with it, it's more tiny stuff which is why they rely on magitech. Also the idea that even if people can sense magic, usually they ignore changes aside from moving away from it if necessary cause usually it means a bunch of monsters are coming through a breach. Honestly, not sure how to run this but, eh.
The below segment is written with Native!JL and Isekai!DP in mind.
=====||=====||=====||======||=====||=====||=====
Bruce had been tinkering with his latest animaga, a monster core whose energy had been threaded through one if his favorite inventions, intended to allow him and his ward flight with the use of monster wings.
"B!"
He tensed but refuses to startle as his ward all but jumped on top of him. "Yes Dick?"
"The magic feels weird!"
Bruce paused, setting his tools down. He knew as a half elf, Richard was sensitive to magic, but wasn't nearly as strong with it as most full elves.
Of course, Bruce had always been considered... disabled in that regard, a full elf who could only feel the energy close to him, though it wasn't public knowledge that he knew of. "That's good to know, Chum, why don't you meditate on it and I'll investigate tonight?"
His ward seemed to understand the intent to leave him behind and started to protest.
"Chum, I was going out alone before you showed up, if the magic really has changed, it'll be safer for me to go out and use the radar."
Dick whined but didn't protest again.
Bruce hoped he wouldn't sneak out this time.
As night began to fall, a family of 9 was gutting a strange metallic ship. Well, the three elder ones were, while the younger ones worked together to scout out the area.
Bruce had just arrived to the location, but chose not to interfere just yet. Batman was the embodiment of night to many, a fearsome predator to others, and some even thought he was a monster himself. Reconnaissance was his strength, as was stealth.
"I don't know, Jazz, the energy here is weird. Muggy almost." His form gave off a soft glow, not unlike that of the whisps, though much larger in body.
The girl with red hair, Jazz he presumed, did not appear impressed. "Like you're the expert on energy. Maybe you should ask Sam when we get back to Mom and dad."
"And Vlad."
"Don't remind me."
The glowing one shuddered. "I know him and our parents have been buddy buddy again but why did he take you find along?"
"Because you're still in training, Daniel."
Both children shrieked.
"I see your core has accepted me into your Fraid."
Bruce froze a bit. Core? Thier energy was certainly strange but not entirely monstrous, hence his inactivity, but the presence of a core presented issues.
"Whatever, Fruitloop. Go back to camp."
"I don't think I will, you're being watched and I can't have my son or daughter being in harm's way."
"Give it a rest, Frootloop, we're not your kids." Despite their attitude, something about their reaction and stance suggested they were worried about being watched as well.
Bruce wondered how they knew about him, perhaps he should have asked Lucius for help with a dampening field to hide the energy of the animaga?
"Don't bother flying away, you'll be surrounded before you can think." Vlad placed a hand on Danny's shoulder.
Before Bruce could react, there was a flash of light that all but burned onto his retinas, but the light was all wrong, a deep black instead of a glowing hue. By the time he was back to his senses, Vlad was gone, and in his place was another strange Whisp. Batman didn't have to turn around to find there were identical ones behind him. Clearly, this was an opponent not to be underestimated.

The Drs. Fenton Crash a Funeral
This is a deleted scene from Neither Gone Nor Forgotten where Jack and Maddie aggressively crash Danny’s funeral. I decided it didn’t fit the vibe I wanted.
-------
“We’re here today in remembrance of Danny Phantom, a brave young man lost to soon in the line of duty. He never should have had to-“ Batman started before he was interrupted by a loud crash. Before he could think he had a weapon in his hand, and to his shock so did both Jazz and Valerie, what looked like a taser and gun pointed towards the sound.
“Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?! I didn’t tell you this was happening for a reason!” Jazz insisted and Batman felt anger flare in his gut, as if he wasn’t already angry that they’d BROKEN ONE OF THE ANTIQUE STAINGLASS WINDOWS WHEN THERE WAS A PERFECTLY GOOD DOOR!
“Eat lead ghost!” Jack said as the weapon in his hand made a sound like it was charging. Batman blinked and tensed more, ready to dodge since the weapon was pointed at him!
“Technically it’s not lead but-“ Maddie started to correct before Jazz and Valerie both jumped into action. Jazz sprinted forward shoving the fun down so it was pointing at the floor and shocked her father who made a comical sound and collapsed, Jazz kicked the dropped weapon away from him. At the same time Valerie swept Maddie’s legs out from under her, she wasn’t expecting it and fell, her eyes widening behind her goggles as Val planted her feet and levelled the gun at her.
“Get out! Go home! I didn’t tell you about the funeral how did you even find out?! You-.. Did you bug my phone!?” Jasmine demanded of her mother.
“We just wanted to make sure you were safe sweetie and it’s a good thing we did! Danny is our Son! Our boy and if his body was found it should have been returned to us right away!” Maddie insisted while Jack was still laying on the ground dazed.
“No! He didn’t want that, he left instructions for his body and he didn’t want it to be burned which is why I didn’t invite you! I knew you’d pull something like this! Because your obsession with ghosts always outweighs out wellbeing!” Jazz yelled.
“Sweetie, that’s not fair! We-“
“NO! You listen to me! Your obsession with science is all encompassing and Danny and I always got lost in the shuffle! You  just wanted us to be ghost hunters like you and you never cared about who we actually were. You never should have had kids and congratulations! Now you don’t! Because Danny is dead,” her voice choked up, she finally blinked and it sent tears down her cheeks. “Danny is dead and this is my last straw! You didn’t come to morn your son you came to steal his corpse so you could fuel your fucking obsession! I’m not coming home for Christmas now, lose my number I never want to hear from you again. Now GET OUT!”
The heroes had been about to intervene when the two girls stepped up and it seemed they’d unanimously decided to hang back to let Jazz say her piece. Now that she was done a Superman moved in, grabbing them both by the collar of their shirts and dragging them up before Jack (who’d finally recovered enough to try and speak) could get any words out. Maybe some day they would realize what they’d done and what they’d lost, but apparently it wouldn’t be today.

Uncle Vlad AU
AU where Vlad actually gets along with the adults in the Fenton household pretty well. The Problem is the Teachers. (And ghosts. But mostly the teachers).
Maddie:
He and Maddie have been flirting awkwardly since they were 10 years old because it was funny when adults did it, and never stopped. Neither means anything by it.
Yes, Mr. Lancer, Jack does know that.
No, we do not need you to send Danny home with the Scarlet Letter. There is no affair. You know what, if you spent this much time protecting my kids from bullies, we-
Good mom, ok? She is! Sure, she gets distracted by work a lot, but she's not intentionally negligent, and she does her best. She just isn't able to connect with Danny the way she can with Jazz.
Jack:
Thinks the awkward flirting is hilarious. Regularly eggs on both his wife and BFF. Hides out at Vlad's to watch football games.
ADHD solidarity with Vlad. Two bros chillin' on a Packers couch, oi, asshole, did you just fumble in the first kickoff! Yeah, he did, which reminds me,did you want to come by for-
Jack was supposed to be there to ask Vlad for help on the portal. They have watched the Bears beat the Vikings, made plans for the weekend, managed to cook an entire meal, and it's not until 2 days later that Jack remembers. (Am I projecting my ADHD? You better bet )
Like Maddie, he isn't intentionally negligent, he just gets distracted super easily. He does his best, but often fails. A true himbo: strong of body, giant of heart, dumb of ass.
Vlad:
Died 20 years ago, but also recognizes that putting his face into a portal to another dimension wasn't a great idea.
Reiterates lab safety constantly despite consistently breaking the rules.
"Remember, children, do not eat or drink in the lab."
"Um. You're drinking ectoplasm right now, though."
"And I'm dead! I can get away with it!"
Despite this, neither Jack or Maddie know he's dead. Plasmius? "Cool costume!" Loses a hand that grows back in a day? "How'd you get that illusion to work?" Jokes about being dead? "Ha ha, yes, we get it. You're dead inside and like grim humor."
Neither Danny or Jazz- who do know- are allowed to tell their parents, because, "come on, guys, don't ruin a 20 year experiment for me! I wanna know how long it takes!"
Vlad is "independently wealthy". As in, he robbed a bunch of billionaires, and has blackmail on twice as many.
So as not to draw too much suspicion, he's a writer. Mostly trashy romance novels or technical manuals. There is no in-between.
Danny:
Dies. Immediately joins Vlad in death jokes. Jazz: You NEED TO talk about it! Danny: IDK, Jazz, I'm still pretty shocked. Get it?
Vlad: Hey, I gotta go visit dead family for the holidays, wanna come with?
Danny: Is that where you go every year? What do you do?
Jazz: Please don't make a ghost joke, please don't make a-
Vlad: Yeah, well, we go haunting, play games, decorate the cemetery, you know. Just get into the holiday spirit, and have a damned good time.
Jazz: I'm calling the Ghostbusters.
Starts learning how to fight ghosts- Uncle Vlad helps, of course, and- DANIEL PHANTOM, WHY are you HERE, and not in math class?! GO.
Nobody knows why Vlad's so chill about the death thing until his family comes to visit- turns out, his mother's maiden name was Addams. Yes, those Addams'.

Here’s a new idea of how Dash became a Halfa!
Basically, he was infected by ectoplasm. During a ghost hunt, which he tagged along for because he liked going into the forest and thought it’d be interesting even though they hadn’t found any yet, he gained an open wound in his side. The ghost that showed up fired a blast of ectoplasm at the wound and knocked him back.
It killed him, but only for a second, because just like Danny and Vlad, the ectoplasm fused with his DNA and spread quickly. When he woke up, he was a halfa now. The Fentons had very little idea of what was happening to him, so they monitored him closely.
That includes his mental state. Very slowly, but gradually, they noticed that he started loving dogs more and more. As if being half ghost gave him an obsession, and they were that obsession, however his human half allows him to still have some self control.
Oh, and he has a scar on his side from where the ectoplasm originally fused with his DNA. The A-listers were the first he told about this, and they were understandably worried about him. Dash is now pretty nervous about fighting anyone with sharp objects, because that’s what caused the injury in the first place. The ghost was able to manipulate metal and tore off a piece of the ghost van to shoot at them, and Dash practically jumped in front of Jack because he was down.
Don’t worry, he’s going to therapy. Knowing this, you can really understand how terrified and determined he is to fight other ghosts to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Vlad’s story is like a mixture between Dash’s and Danny’s story. It was the portal that turned him into a halfa, technically. The portal blew up when Vlad was carrying ectoplasm samples and was standing a little too close to the portal. The blast sent him flying back, and the glass bottles cut into him when they broke.
Both the blast and the glass shards gave the ectoplasm the chance to seep into his bloodstream. By the time he was at the hospital, the process was complete.
After that, the trio sort of grew apart. It was both of their faults, in a way. Vlad’s new ghost half fueled his anger of what happened, and combined with the sudden change as a whole, he was very emotional and ended up lashing out more than he meant to.
Jack and Maddie isolated themselves from him, only contacting him to apologize for a long time before they stopped because Vlad wasnt responding for months. Their final message was something along the lines of “We’re still very sorry about what happened, and we’re sorry our messages irritate you. We’ll leave you alone.”
And now, both sides still feel guilty. Vlad is sorry for lashing out and being out of control, and he’s sorry for not contacting them again. He didn’t know how to apologize for everything after all these years and was a little scared of how they’d react. Jack and Maddie still feel bad about what happened, but Vlad had forgiven them and let go of his rage a couple years ago.
Yes, the portal was unstable since it was far from perfect, but despite the precautions took, no one knew for sure that would happen. It wasn’t their fault.
And yes, Jazz played therapist to help them say these things to each other and they hugged it out at the end.
Vlad has a couple scars from where the ectoplasm fused on his body. He doesn’t trust himself to hold anything made of glass. He’s working on it, but on bad days, his hands threaten to shake and he puts it back. Fireworks, or anything resembling explosions, make him anxious as well.
What do you guys think?

Alright I think I’ve seen a couple smaller versions of this in bits and pieces so if you have them please share, but I figured that as someone familiar with neither show initially I’m in a good position to do a DPxDC onboarding post!
Since neither source material is particularly helpful in understanding the madness we have created, here is what I consider important to know for each (please add in with anything I miss!)
Danny Phantom (DP)
Main Characters
Danny Fenton - is a Phantom. Died as a teenager by accidentally activating his parents’ portal to the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms but was also revived, becoming a half ghost half human (halfa)
Is the only superhero in Amity Park, fighting ghosts and sometimes ghost hunters to keep humans safe from ghosts and ghosts safe from humans
Has beaten the Ghost King in single combat, and is therefore sometimes considered to be the new Ghost King
Jazz (Jasmine) Fenton - Danny’s older sister, basically his parent, very into psychology and very against the influence their actual parents have had on Danny due to their obsession with ghosts
May/may not know about Phantom, usually considered the Mom Friend of Team Phantom whether she knows or not
Jack Fenton - Danny’s dad, 6’9 koolaid man, loves ham and fudge and breaking through walls instead of the door beside him. A very bad shot but extremely enthusiastic in that 90s dad cartoon way
Prone to believe absolutely anybody but Danny is a ghost, especially when Danny does ghost things in proximity
Extremely intent on the destruction of all ghosts, convinced they do not have actual feelings and should be destroyed pre Phantom reveal. Afterwards, can be either accepting or homicidal towards Danny
Maddie Fenton - Danny’s mom, ridiculous kung fu warrior and engineer, madly in love with Jack and they are sickeningly cute all times except Christmas
Sometimes notices they have kids that need caring for, sometimes curbs Jack’s wilder impulses, she’s the brains of the team
Same ghost views as Jack, but she’s more perceptive and intelligent, which can be used for good or evil
Tucker Foley - Danny’s best friend, likes meat and technology and arguing with Sam
A Black young man with a signature red beret and PDA in the OG show, usually acknowledged to be on par with the bats’ technical skills as he’s an incredible hacker
Danny’s Guy In The Chair, but he will get out of his chair and throw down as needed
Sam Manson - Danny’s Obligatory 90s Cartoon Love Interest, goth and ultra-recyclo-vegetarian child of millionaires who will not be stopped in her crusade for justice
She’s the one who dared Danny to go into the portal that killed him, the guilt she carries for this varies
She is in combat as much as her humanity allows, but also in a support role most of the time
Dash Baxter - Danny’s Obligatory 90s Cartoon Bully, the usual blond beefy jock. Can be surprisingly sensitive and intelligent, probably from being tutored by Jazz
[ETA] Valerie Gray - former antihero with a grudge against ghosts (her dad lost his job because of Cujo), she was given an anti ghost suit by Vlad and worked for him to fight ghosts until learning he is a half ghost
Canon never names her alter ego but we call her Red Huntress, she’s hot headed and impulsive and absolutely dated Danny while trying to murder Phantom - Danny knew the whole time but she did not
She is also Black
Wes Weston - Does Not Exist In Canon. We made him up because Danny had a bracelet that was supposed to say Sam but was shown backwards all episodes so it just says Wes
Knows that Danny is Phantom, INTENT on telling absolutely everyone, and is never believed
Vlad Masters/Plasmius - the only older halfa in the show, and one of Danny’s main villains. A billionaire who went to college with the Fenton parents and was slowly killed after exposure to the first trial portal
Blames Jack for his exposure and is obsessed with stealing Maddie from him and marrying her himself as he believes should have always happened
Her opinion does not factor into this, and she largely treats him with disdain but tempered for her husband, who adores Vlad unequivocally
Dani/Ellie Masters - a girl clone of Danny made by Vlad, the only clone who survived melting into goo. Vlad raised her to try and kill Danny so he could perfect a different boy clone, and kept her isolated
Now that she’s met Danny and been stabilised by him, they are siblings/cousins/besties but she can’t stay in one place, because she wants to experience the whole world
Frostbite - King of the Far Frozen, which is part of the Ghost Zone full of ice. He’s a yeti, and has the zone’s only functional medical facility
Reveres Danny as the Great One, Saviour of the Ghost Zone, and taught him how to use his ice powers
Clockwork - Master of Time, tends to show up in a purple hooded robe with a clock around his neck and rapidly cycle through ages and speak in riddles
Sometimes communicates by leaving green stick notes on things, but never with a direct answer. Considered Danny’s mentor and sends Danny on adventures through time to preserve the time stream
Notably involved in the whole Dan Phantom fiasco
Dan Phantom - an older version of Danny from the future where Danny’s ghost half was removed from his human half, stole Vlad’s ghost half, and destroyed the world because Danny’s whole family and friends were killed in front of him
They were all together to be killed as part of an intervention when Danny was caught cheating on a test. This gives Danny understandable issues about how easily he could go bad and destroy the world
Skulker - an early recurring baddie who is a Kraven the Hunter knockoff, considers himself the Ghost Zone’s best hunter and wants Danny’s pelt for his wall
Actually a tiny little guy inside the helmet of a big mechanised suit, rarely a serious threat
Ember - a young ghost musician who can hypnotise people with her music, craves an audience and another early recurring villain
Dates Skulker I guess
Johnny 13 and Shadow - ghost biker boy and his sentient shadow familiar, dated Danny at some point, but in a permanent ongoing relationship with Kitty
They usually only cause trouble when they fight, break up, wreak havoc, and then eventually get back together
Kitty - once Overshadowed Paulina the generic Pretty Girl to date Danny to get back at Johnny for their break up
She wanted to be a lawyer before she and Johnny were killed in a wreck, sometimes implied to have been caused on purpose by her father
She and Johnny are often Danny’s allies, against other ghosts if necessary
[ETA] Cujo - ghost puppy, very playful and usually about beagle size, but he can grow or shrink at will into a terrifying house sized attack dog. He can make portals so no, you are never safe from Cujo
[ETA] Wulf - werewolf ghost and friend of Danny’s who can also create his own natural portals. He wears pants
Important Terms
Core - a small glowing orb that houses all a ghost’s memories, thoughts, emotions, and vital organs. Can correspond to an element, granting elemental powers after some intense ghost puberty
Requires ectoplasm to form and be maintained but does not exist in canon
Obsession - ghosts are powered by their emotions at death and an Obsession, usually what makes them become a ghost instead of passing on in the first place - does not exist in canon
Danny’s Obsession is usually Protection, Space, or both
Vlad’s Obsession is Maddie, and acquiring Danny as a son once he learns Danny is a halfa too
Dani’s Obsession is Travel
Halfa - half a ghost, half a human, with the ability to transform between human and ghost forms (usually characterised as a colour inversion of hair and clothes)
Powers are basically Everything That Would Be Funny, because it’s a Saturday morning cartoon
Vlad’s specifically include electrocution, duplicating up to thousands of himself, invisibility, intangibility, hand lasers, super strength, healing, and mind control
Danny’s include ice, strength, bendy noodle body, put self in video game, hand lasers, heat vision, ghostly wail (big ol sonic scream, bad for the throat), duplication, teleportation, and literally anything else that was fun for the episode in question
All ghosts seem to get invisibility, intangibility, flight, telekinesis, and ectobeams (lasers from various body parts)
Overshadowing - similar to possession, when a ghost takes over someone else’s body, gaining access to core memories if they look
Sometimes different from possession specifically and considered less invasive, but still invasive. Danny does not like doing this
[ETA] Anti Ecto Acts - a series of laws signed into existence to declare all ectoplasmic entities as nonsentient creatures, able to be experimented on or destroyed at will
Referenced literally once in canon in a single line that basically says “you are under arrest for being a ghost” - after Danny is outed as a halfa, we have obviously extrapolated it into the worst thing possible
Canon calls them Anti-Ecto Control Acts
[ETA] GIW - Guys in White or the Ghost Investigation Ward, they’re literally a colour reversed Men in Black joke to have a government agency that focuses on ghosts
They don’t care about collateral damage and will blow anyone up on their way ghost hunting
DC (Disregard Canon apparently)
Main Characters
Listen I’m not doing all of them so HOEDOWN STYLE I GUESS
Alfred Pennyworth - best Batman character, super butler, makes the best cookies
Bruce Wayne - Batman, may/may not be good batdad
Dick Grayson - Robin 1, responsible for pantsless Robin and excessive flips, grows up to be Nightwing
Jason Todd - fandom woobie, Robin 2, tried to steal the tires off the Batmobile and hit Bruce with a tire iron, killed by Joker, came back evil and thicc as Red Hood and nearly killed Robin 3
Has the Bad Juice in him cuz of being brought back from the dead so he has Pit Rage, which most people apparently only get for a little bit and then either die or go permanently insane
Tim Drake - Robin 3, abandoned rich kid who blackmailed Bruce into letting him be Robin after Jason died, because Jason was his hero and Tim thinks Batman needs a Robin to stay sane. He’s right, but was Robin-fired basically as soon as Damian showed up, is Red Robin now
Never sleeps, overcaffeinated at all times, a better detective than Bruce and a supervillain in basically every AU
Used to be bi but is legally gay now apparently
Stephanie Brown - girl Robin, far superior as Spoiler and Bat Girl, sassy bitch who tells Bruce to fuck off the most of all the Robins ever and this is an Achievement she must fight for constantly but always wins
Cassandra Cain - assassin baby of Lady Shiva, not taught to talk by her dad cuz he sucks, semi- or nonverbal and deadass supernaturally good at reading people
Decided that killing was bad actually the first time she did it so fuck assassins she’s Black Bat/Batgirl/Orphan now and she does not have mouth holes in her mask (possibly because she is not white, depending on why you think Batman always has his)
Damian Wayne - Consequences from Bruce’s playboy slut days, he knocked up supervillain Talia Al Ghul and thus this bab was raised by assassins and thinks stabbing siblings is an acceptable greeting
Likes the animals and is secretly soft but will fucking kill you before he admits it
Duke Thomas - Criminally Underused, older than Damian but babiest bat as the Signal, Gotham’s only daytime hero and only meta hero. Second Black hero cuz Lucius Fox exists and so does his son
Never a Bruce-appointed Robin but was trained by 4 previous Robins (no idea where Steph was for this) simultaneously, swears as much as Jason but has living parents sometimes so that’s wild
Kate Kane - Batwoman, definitely fucks
Luke Fox - I think he is Lucius’ son, Lucius made all the bat tech but Luke is going to punch bad guys directly, has a hero name probably that might be fox related
Diana Prince - Wonder Woman, an Amazonian warrior who fucks with Cronos I guess
Donna Troy - I have never fucking seen her in dpxdc but she is Wonder Girl I think and she also fucks
Clark Kent - Superman but also a nerd, treats his clone badly and will never be forgiven
Connor Kent/Kon El - said clone, made by Lex Luthor from Superman’s and Luthor’s DNA because what says hate like making a baby! Mistreating that baby and reminding him he’s meant to be a weapon
Deserves all the love and sometimes his powers don’t work because cloning is hard
Jon Kent - Superman’s son with Lois Lane, got all his dad’s powers but apparently not his mom’s cuz he is still a himbo
Lois Lane - the world’s scariest reporter who will make all corrupt officials quail because you can’t fucking threaten her, she will tell you to go fuck yourself and if you try and shoot her Superman catches the bullet
Barry Allen - the Flash, does not believe in ghosts even though he can run so fast he travels in time so he’s clearly the arbiter of what makes sense
But I guess you can’t catch him to tell him he’s wrong so
Hal Jordan - Green Lantern, Space Ho
Lex Luthor - surprising dad energy for a bald supervillain who hates aliens (blame halfagone)
John Constantine - super thot and mage, will sell his soul to anyone who offers to gain immortality because no one can decide who gets to keep his soul so they just spite reviving him
Has the actual worst luck and finds out just slightly more than he fucks around but he hasn’t died yet so it’s working
Zatanna - magic lady who does spells by saying words backwards, the competent adult
Boston - Deadman, an Actual Fucking Ghost Member Of The Justice League, What The Fuck Flash This Is Workplace Harassment
Cannot be seen or heard without magical assistance, so way less of a problem than Danny Phantom ghosts

Danny Sephy??
Final Fantasy 7 and Danny Phantom
This is a start idea for a bigger idea:
Danny and Sephiroth would be counterparts to each other, with a little Zack Fair in Danny Fenton. - Both have white hair. - green eyes - They were empowered after being exposed to green energy of supernatural origin. - They are almost immortal.
+ And as Cloud would technically be a clone of Sephiroth,
Danny: "So as I am Sephiroth counterpart."
Danny had been attacked by Cloud in the Ghost zone as he saw him and brought him to Clockwork. Who told him the whole story.
Clockwork:" And of Zack Fair."
Danny:" Okay, does that mean Cloud is my clone too?"
Clockwork:"Yes, you could say that."
Cloud: "I only accept it because you are Zack too. And it's better to stay here than in Sepiroth! You will better hold your word!"
Sephiroth even found him in Smash! He will wait to hear what this God will say.
Clockwork:" Yes, as long as you are in this universe, Sephiroth can't find you; there can't be two Sephiroth, but if you leave, he can find you again."
Cloud nodded his head, he accept staying here. Dani just was hugging the SOLDIER. Dani:" Baby brother, baby brother!"
Cloud:" I am pretty sure I am older than you by many years."
Dani:" You are the one who newly accept being a clone. I am your Clone Senior, and I will teach you all you need to know about being a clone!"
Jack and Maddie just accepted Cloud as a new Fenton pretty quickly. Even if Cloud will not wear an orange jumpsuit or hunt Ghost but having a family again is nice. With grandpa Jack and his Fudge or training with Granny Maddie. His sensible "Aunt" Jazz is helping him to overcome his mental problems.
The Zone and all the years running from Sephiroth, really really didn't do well for his mentality. And being in the Ghost Zone confused his body and mind even more thanks to that time God. So what if he was young as his clone age, he is save from Sephiroth. So what if he is 15 year old!
Try to think Crysis core cloud. He looked adorable
And poor Wes, only he thought it didn't make sense that Fenton suddenly had a new child or clone.
"I mean, who would clone a human/Fenton? He is Phantom!"
Star:" Be quite; Fenton isn't Phantom. But Fenton's new son is pretty cute-looking."
Paulina:"Yeah, Ellie was adorable, but Cloud is a cutie! How you think adult Fenton then will look then?"
+
Danny told them Time Travel, and all of Amity park and Casper High accepted it. It worked with Dani and now with Cloud, and he once brought a book signed by Shakespeare for class. + So Cloud and Dani are time traveled Clone(Children) of Danny. No idea who the other DNA is but not from Amity Park.

Shiptember Day 3: 3rd Wheel
Ship: Pitch Pearl (parasite theory; Phantom was a ghost bonded to Danny)
Summary: During a cross-country road trip, Sam and Tucker notice something going on between Danny and Phantom. They call Jazz in a panic, but she blows past their every excuse until reaching the real reason for their discomfort: Sam and Tucker don't want things to change.
--
“Tucker!” Jazz interrupted, her voice ringing through the speaker phone. “Slow down! Start over. What’s happening between Danny and Phantom?”
Tucker forced himself to draw in a deep breath. “Okay, so….” He sat on the hotel bed in a further attempt to calm himself. “It started once Phantom got behind the wheel—”
“You guys let him drive? He doesn’t have a driver’s license!”
“He and Danny were still merged when they were learning how to drive,” Tucker said defensively. “So, he knows how to drive, he just can’t get his driver’s license because he’s not technically a citizen. It’s total bullshit which is why we agreed to make him part of the rotation.”
“And if a cop pulled you guys over?”
“Then Phantom would have overshadowed them. Come on, Jazz, we thought this through. We’re adults now too, you know.”
Jazz snorted. “You’re all barely eighteen,” she muttered.
Sam looked away from the window, and the two friends shared a commiserating eye roll. Dealing with Danny’s sister could be trying sometimes.
“Anyway,” Tucker said forcefully, “that’s when it started.”
“What started?”
“The…” Tucker met Sam’s eyes again, hoping she knew how to describe what they saw, but she only shrugged. “The thing. The thing going on between Danny and Phantom. Danny sat in the passenger seat and coached Phantom through the motions until he started picking up on it again. That was fine. Then the inside jokes started. Just. Little jokes about when Jack and Maddie were trying to teach them. Danny or Phantom would laugh and it was like…like…”
“And that made you and Sam feel left out? Is that what this is about?”
“That’s not the issue here,” Tucker said, evading the question. “It. Just. Didn’t. Stop.”
“They shared a mind for almost two years, Tucker. Of course they’re close.”
“Not like this,” Tucker insisted.
Sam pushed away from the window and approached Tucker on the bed. “Has Danny been hanging out with Phantom?” she asked Jazz.
“Wouldn’t you guys know that better than me?” Jazz asked, confused. “I’m at Harvard, remember? I haven’t seen either of them since Spring Break.”
“Yeah, but you speak to them on the phone, right?” Sam pushed. “Does Danny ever mention Phantom?”
“Of course he does. He keeps me updated on things over there. Phantom fought off an invasion last week, right? He’s worn out, and that’s why you all insisted on this trip?”
“Personal details, Jazz,” Sam clarified. “Does Danny mention anything beyond Phantom’s hero activities?”
“Maybe? I didn’t realize I was supposed to be looking for that kind of information.”
“He’s your brother!” Sam exclaimed. “Shouldn’t you care about how he’s doing?”
“Danny’s doing just fine,” Jazz said, defensive. “A little depressed that you guys are leaving for college, but otherwise…”
“She meant Phantom, Jazz,” Tucker said. “Your other brother.”
“What?”
“Phantom’s your brother too!”
“I love him like a brother, but why do I get the feeling you two are trying to create an artificial relation between us?”
Sam and Tucker shared a forlorn glance. “If Jazz doesn’t even see him as a brother,” Tucker whispered to Sam, “what are the chances Danny sees him as a brother?”
“Evidence would suggest the odds are slim to none,” she replied, huffing.
“And anyway,” Jazz continued, “ I talk to Phantom on the phone too. I don’t need to ask Danny when I can just ask Phantom directly how he’s doing. He’s stressed and suffering from PTSD, by the way. I think this road trip will be good for him. He needed to get away from Amity Park for a while and remember it’s okay to relax every now and then.”
“Does he mention Danny?” Tucker asked quickly.
“Why are you guys so fixated on this? I just said Phantom has PTSD! That’s a little more important, you know.”
“Just answer the question, Jazz,” Sam said. “We’re focusing on one problem at a time, we’ll deal with that later.”
“What is the problem exactly?”
“Does Phantom mention Danny?” Sam repeated.
“No,” Jazz said forcefully, almost groaning the word. “Not very often, anyway. Mostly just when he saves him. He likes bragging about it. I think he gets some sort of ironic pleasure out of rescuing Danny because of their past. But otherwise, I guess their paths just don’t cross very often. Is that what you guys are getting at? You think they don’t hang out?”
“I never noticed them hanging out,” Tucker confirmed. “And Danny and I share everything! I would know if they were best buds.”
“Once they started talking, it was like they had just rediscovered an old friend,” Sam explained.
“So?”
“So they haven’t stopped talking.”
“So?”
“So it’s been six fucking hours!” Sam exclaimed.
“So?” Jazz repeated pointedly. “They have a lot to catch up on. They’ve been separate for, what? Two years?”
“So you’re saying…” Tucker and shared another glance with Sam, “six hours of nonstop talking, laughing, gossiping, and touching? That’s not weird at all?”
“Touching?”
“Danny keeps touching him,” Tucker whined. “He just won’t stop, it’s like he’s, he’s drawn to him or. Something. And Phantom keeps leaning into, like what? What the fuck?”
Jazz started laughing.
“It’s not funny!” Tucker and Sam shouted.
“Oh my gosh, you two are jealous!” Jazz cried, laughing still. “I can’t believe this!”
“I’m not jealous!” Tucker objected.
“This is serious, Jazz!” Sam yelled over Jazz’s laughter. “Your brothers are falling in love with each other!”
Jazz snorted a laugh and squeaked, “That’s why you guys keep pushing the brother angle, oh my, ohhh my sides…”
“Jazz!”
“It would be so much easier for you two if Danny and Phantom were actually like twins, wouldn’t it?” Jazz said, snorting still, her tone mockingly sympathetic. “Then you could just sweep all the discomfort under one easily labeled trash can and throw it out, huh?”
“What are you talking about?” Sam demanded.
“Forget it. I can see you two aren’t mature enough for that sort of introspection.”
“Hey!”
“What makes you think they’re falling in love?” Jazz asked. "One six-hour conversation during a long car ride doesn’t really mean anything, you know.”
“It’s the way they’re speaking to each other,” Tucker said, groaning. “I don’t think you understand, Jazz. And it wasn’t just during the car ride. It was at every rest stop, too. It was during dinner. It was in the backseat. It was everywhere! We arrived at the hotel two hours ago, and they’re still talking! They went swimming together, Jazz! Swimming!”
“Oh no,” Jazz said in mock horror, “Swimming! I hope they brought protection.”
Disgusted, Tucker shoved his phone into Sam’s hands. “You explain it to her!”
Sam groaned. She sat on the bed beside Tucker, but Tucker didn’t want to sit anymore. He stood and walked over toward the window, maneuvering around the bags Danny had yet to unpack. He had set them beside the bed he had chosen, the bed he and Phantom would share. It had seemed like the least awkward arrangement when they had been making plans. Sam would get her own room; the boys would get the room with two beds. Danny and Phantom were bi, so Tucker had been just a little bit shy about sharing his bed with either of them, and Sam definitely couldn’t without stirring up old flames, which meant the two who used to share a body would have to share a bed.
Easy.
Phantom would sleep with his human half. Danny could sleep beside his ghost half.
Easy.
Nothing would happen between them, right? Danny certainly hadn’t seemed all that uncomfortable with the idea. He had only shrugged. Phantom had only seemed grateful he was actually going to sleep in a bed at all. Danny had warned him not to hog the blankets, and Phantom had warned him not to snore.
But that had been at the start of their trip. Tucker wondered now if Danny would be so blasé about sleeping beside someone like Phantom. Dubious past aside, Phantom was the hottest heartthrob in their year group, as voted by the senior yearbook—and he hadn’t even been in the running! How was Danny’s gay little heart supposed to resist Phantom after they had spent all day acting like lovestruck fools?
Was Tucker going to have to wear earplugs just to drown out their whispering? Was he going to wake up and find them spooning?
He had hoped it would happen before, but that was just because he wanted to tease them! He hadn’t wanted it like this.
“They’re so focused on each other it’s like they’re the only two people in existence,” Sam complained to Jazz.
“I’m sure they haven’t forgotten about you and Tucker.”
“Yes, they have!” Sam snapped. “You’re not here, Jazz! Trust me. They wanted to be alone so bad they ran to the swimming pool just to get away from us.”
"Did they say you couldn’t come?”
“No…”
"Then they weren’t trying to get away from you. You could have gone too.”
“Yeah, well, no thanks, I don’t feel like throwing up. I can handle only so much lovey dovey shit in a single day.”
“You could try being supportive, you know.”
Sam snorted. “They don’t need any support.”
"They will once this dream is over and they have to return to reality.”
Tucker froze, his hand halfway toward the curtain. Behind him, he heard Sam suck in a breath. “What do you mean?” she asked.
“Have you two forgotten how hard same-sex couples have to fight to be accepted? Danny hid his attraction to guys for so long out of fear, do you really want to be the ones who make him feel ashamed again?”
“This is a little more extreme than having a crush on Kwan,” Sam objected, but her voice had softened.
"Yes, it’s going to be even harder because Phantom isn’t just another boy, he’s a famous hero, an infamous troublemaker, a mystery to all Amity Park! He is under intense scrutiny, and once he starts dating another boy, that scrutiny is going to turn on Danny. Danny won’t just be judged for dating someone of the same sex either, he will be judged for dating a ghost. What would have been accepted in a straight couple will suddenly look amoral between two boys in a biracial—bi-species?—relationship.”
“Oh no,” Sam said softly.
"The worst offenders will, of course, be Mom and Dad.”
“Shit,” Tucker added. He glanced over his shoulder at Sam, but she was staring blindly into the distance.
“If Danny is serious about pursuing Phantom, he will eventually tell Mom and Dad, and then he’ll be back in that uneasy position where he has no idea if our parents will kick him out because of his connection to Danny Phantom.”
“Would they?” Sam asked quietly.
"I don’t know,” Jazz answered honestly. "They’re paranoid. They might suspect Phantom of brainwashing Danny somehow. It’s easier to believe this is all Phantom’s fault than to accept Danny likes the infamous ghost boy. They might accept Danny’s choice, but it’s equally likely they’ll try to ‘fix’ him.”
Tucker drew in a sharp breath through his teeth.
"Danny delayed and altered this confrontation, but so long as he pursues a connection to Phantom, he’s always bound to circle back to seeking Mom and Dad’s acceptance. Don’t make him have to fight for yours as well.”
Tucker pushed a hand beneath his glasses and rubbed his fingers against his eye. He turned away from the window and pressed his back against the wall, suddenly feeling sick.
“But, Jazz,” Sam said, “Phantom is Danny’s ghost half. They can’t date. They’re the same person. This isn't like if Phantom started dating some random human, this is his human half."
“First of all, that was two years ago. In all that time, Phantom has been fighting, defending, training, and only occasionally relaxing. Danny has been living as a normal student trying to catch up on his grades so he could graduate high school after spending those first two years flunking nearly every class. If you believe they are still the same person after living such extremely different experiences, you haven’t been paying attention. People change. Growth is inescapable, especially for Phantom. He’s had to learn some tough lessons that Danny has never had to face, and they have affected him as a person.”
Sam’s eyes finally met Tucker’s. She was frowning, which alerted Tucker to his own. He was relieved to see she didn’t like hearing this anymore than he did.
"Secondly,” Jazz continued, "Danny has repeatedly stated Phantom was a ghost that fused with him during the accident, he's not his ghost. It might just be a matter of disassociation where Danny is trying to distance himself from a very stressful period of his life, but from what he and Phantom have told me, they truly believe the portal accident brought two souls together for a time.”
Sam made a soft “oh” sound.
"They may look similar to us, but their souls are not the same, according to them. It might just be all in their head, but it's what they believe. That might be why they’re able to look at each other as strangers and talk for six hours without getting bored.” She scoffed. "I have no idea how they could talk so long, but I never had a crush before either, so…”
“Oh?” Tucker said archly, gaining a little of his fire back. “Danny says otherwise.”
“Danny’s a filthy liar who needs to keep his mouth shut.”
“So, this really doesn’t bother you at all?” Sam asked, cutting off Tucker’s teasing retort.
"Not really. What other people do with their lives is their own business so long as they aren’t hurting anyone. It’s something you two will learn in college someday too. I tried so hard to fix peoples’ problems when I got here, and it was totally the wrong thing to do. I hurt my friends, and I exhausted and stressed myself out over things that were none of my business. There’s only one thing I care about now. Are they happy?”
Tucker and Sam shared another look. Tucker pushed himself up from the wall, turned toward the window, and pulled aside the curtain.
“Yeah,” Sam said. She still sat on the bed. She didn’t need to see Danny’s lovestruck expression. They had been seeing it nearly all day.
“And you’re sure they’re falling for each other? It might just be friendship.”
Three stories down, Tucker saw Danny and Phantom in the pool. Or rather, he saw Danny in the pool. Phantom sat on the edge, his bare legs lazily kicking the water. Danny’s body drifted chest-deep in the water, his arms folded over the ledge, cushioning his cheek as he stared up at Phantom. It looked like Phantom was talking about something—flying maybe, given the smooth glide of his hand gestures—and Danny was just watching him.
Watching him with a little smile, a soft glow in his eyes completely unlike the kind that used to be there when he and Phantom were one.
“No way,” Tucker said. “I haven’t seen Danny look at someone like that since—” Tucker cut himself off and guiltily looked at Sam.
She sighed. “Danny has that dopey expression whenever he looks at Phantom now. You know the one.”
“Kind of strange since they don’t look that different,” Tucker said. “How can Danny be attracted to someone that looks so much like him?”
“Actually, that’s very common! You might notice couples often look alike, and this is believed to be caused by something called ‘positive sexual imprinting.’ It isn’t the only determining factor, of course, but scientists and psychologists have long studied why we—and other animals—are more attracted to mates who share physical—”
“Yeah!” Tucker interrupted. “Danny can just develop a crush on himself because humans are strange! Got it!”
"If you don’t believe me, google ‘couples that look alike.’ You’re touching on a huge academic topic here. Maybe I should make a paper about this…it's probably why Danny was attracted to Sam. You two look alike too. Remember that rumor about you two being twins?”
Sam grimaced. "That's not the same thing."
“Isn't it? I’ll repeat, Danny and Phantom aren’t brothers. Just because you two see them as brothers doesn’t mean they feel the same way. If you can’t let go of your preconceived notions and listen to what Danny says, you aren’t any better than my parents.”
Tucker grimaced. “That’s not fair…”
“Neither is forcing my brother to accept your views at the cost of his happiness!” Jazz snapped. “Danny loves you two. You are just as capable of hurting him as our parents. Knock it off. You knew all of this already. You two are just trying to justify how upset you are by shifting the blame onto Danny and Phantom. That way you don’t have to confront what’s really making you two upset.”
“Oh yeah?” Sam said hotly. “And what’s that, Doctor Jazz?”
“You and Tucker are leaving Amity Park to attend your dream colleges,” Jazz said, gentling her tone. “But Danny is staying behind. Your childhood where the three of you fought ghosts together is over. After Danny and Phantom separated, you still clung to this idea that he and Phantom were still somehow the same, because that’s how everything started. But now that they’re falling for each other you can’t hold onto that belief anymore. This is the end of that chapter, and the beginning of something new, something you two won’t be a part of. That’s why you’re upset. That’s why you want them to stop.”
Tucker made a low noise and stared down at Danny and Phantom.
“You’re getting a little too good at that phsycobabble stuff,” Sam said quietly.
“Please, I should have let you two discover it on your own if I really wanted it to stick. But Danny and Phantom don’t have that kind of time. If they actually fall in love on this trip—or even if they just get closer —that will be good for them. Phantom needs that human connection, and Danny will need someone after you two leave for the semester.”
“Why doesn’t Danny just leave with us?” Tucker asked, subdued. “He doesn’t have to stay in Amity Park anymore.”
“He said he didn’t feel right leaving Phantom to deal with the ghosts on his own.”
“Really?” Tucker perked up a little. “So maybe this thing isn’t actually all that new.”
“Nope.”
“You said they never mentioned each other,” Sam accused.
“I said Phantom rarely mentioned Danny. Danny talks about Phantom’s all the time. I suspected something like this might happen. It seems even Danny isn’t immune to Phantom’s heroics, but I could never be sure if it was just admiration or…admiration, you know? What about Phantom?”
“What about him?”
“Do you think he feels the same way?”
“Yes,” Sam answered promptly. “Without a doubt.”
Tucker groaned. “If he ever took his eyes off Danny, it was only because he was driving. It was his idea to go swimming…”
“Oh, the dreaded swimming. All that bare skin. How scandalous.”
“Shut up, Jazz.”
“Are they still in the pool?” Sam asked warily.
Tucker hummed, watching as Danny pushed away from the edge. Phantom slid into the water so gracefully he had to be using his flight powers. They were still talking. They were still focused entirely on each other. The underwater lamps rendered Phantom’s glow obsolete, and for a moment he didn’t look any different from a human aside from his white hair. He dove under the water, and a second later, Danny was yanked under with him.
“They were just talking, but it looks like they’re playing now,” Tucker said.
“Are you two watching them?”
“Noooo,” Tucker and Sam said in unison.
“You two are impossible.”
“Shut up, Jazz,” Sam said loftily, “our friend is falling in love here. These are trying circumstances.”
“Yeah, yeah. Give them privacy, you stalkers.”
Tucker made a rude noise. Danny and Phantom finally broke the surface, both of them panting. Danny’s face was red, but he was laughing. He splashed Phantom, and Phantom splashed him back. They did that a few more times, and then Danny threw himself at Phantom, and they went under again.
“They really do look happy,” Tucker said quietly.
“Just let them do their own thing,” Jazz suggested. “Neither one of them has had a serious relationship in a while. I doubt they’ll be able to think clearly if they are infatuated. Just give it time. They’ll calm down. Eventually. You have all summer, right?”
Sam groaned. “Don’t remind me…”
“All summer to watch our friend fall in love with a super powered hero and forget about us,” Tucker said. “Fun.”
“Maybe we should crash their little pool date,” Sam said thoughtfully.
“Oh!” Tucker let the curtain fall closed and turned around to face her, his eyes bright. “Now that sounds fun! I’m going to cannonball right between them!”
Sam flashed him a wicked grin.
Jazz groaned through the speaker. “Why do I even bother…?”
“Thanks for your help, Jazz,” Sam said, lifting the phone. “But we need to breakup their romantic night now. Bye.”
“Bye. Tell Danny I love him. Oh, and, if it comes up at any point in this trip, remind them to practice safe sex or I will personally come down there and give them a lecture they’ll never forget.”
“That’s so won’t be necessary with the two of us on duty, right, buddy?” Tucker said, grinning at Sam.
She cackled. “You bet!”
“Uh-huh,” Jazz said, unconvinced. “You two will keep two hormonal teenagers from doing anything when one of them has ghost powers? I bet you twenty dollars you’ll catch them making out in the backseat at some point.”
“First of all, that’s my car and they better fucking not,” Sam said. “Secondly, you’re on. We got this, right, Tuck?”
“Right!” Tucker said, pumping his fist. “There will be no falling in love on my watch!”
“You can probably stop them from kissing, but you can’t stop them from falling in love.”
“Ha!” Sam scoffed.
“Watch us!” Tucker shouted.
“That’s—you know what, never mind. Have fun. Don’t get yourselves killed.”
Sam and Tucker laughed. “Bye, Jazz!”
Sam ended the call, and Tucker pounded his fist into his palm. “Let’s do this!”

Danny gets treatment, not that he needs it. Jason does not agree.
************************
Why did Red have to look at him? Why had he made that deal? Why was he going through with it?
He really didn’t want to. Danny had been so confident he would win. So sure, he could keep going. He’s been through so much and always manages to push through it. He barely could stand before collapsing.
Now here he was on the ground. Caving into the deal. He just felt inclined to comply. Like he had to.
Danny even went as far as to let Red help him up. Even taking off his sweatshirt. This did not track.
Why is he letting him unwrap the bandages? Heck, he isn’t even fighting him on it. Hell, he still fights Sam and Jazz on any injury he got. Tucker gave up on forcing treatment. Really it was only a very few weapons that left a mark. Why now was he just idly letting it happen?
Not fighting him on any aspect
Sam told him he once punched Tucker while unconscious.
Which didn’t make sense?
Logistically, he had no requirements to follow along. Even if it was somehow a legally binding deal. Danny was in fact only a minor. Not able to make these agreements.
Frick, the last of the bandages. Danny still wasn’t moving.
Red was going to see them. He was going to see the cuts.  This dude did not need to see his stomach. The other injuries... were fine. Those injuries weren’t that horrid. Sure, he was bruised. So, what if his stomach mayhaps be bleeding? It was only a little bit. It was mostly inside him.
The injection site. That stupid injection from the GIW. He just knew that was going to look bad as well. He really hasn’t paid much attention to that specific spot. The Y had really taken priority while on the roof and billboard.
But what his pare- Jack and Maddie did to him.
He really didn’t want to think about it, being treated. No just let it be... it has to heal at some point.
The bandages did hide the injury. Why reveal it? If you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist, that’s just how the rule goes. If only everyone else and his body agreed.
He knew the stitches were bad. He rushed them at night on a roof. It would be obvious he did it on his own. Which he did technically imply he was on the run from the government. But this crime lord actually was persistent on not letting him dip. Did he really want to show the injury off?  Was the blood even red or green? Was it ectoplasm leaking through the bandages? Was he even an actual human right now? Did he go ghost? What color was it?
No, it was red. He looked down. Human blood, which should have been a sign. Jack and Maddie had made a ghost bleed before, never enough to actually harm them. But enough to see. They bled green, not red.
He was bleeding red.
Red all through the bandages. He was him despite what they claimed.
Jack and Maddie just didn’t think so. They only thought of him as a body snatcher. Just jamming right into him. No care, no hesitation. Just cut after cut, that burning through his neck, and how he could still feel it nothing had stopped it. He couldn’t stop the noises either.
No budging on the cuffs. Not breaking or bending. This stup-
Autopsy marks
Red had died. That confirmed that. HE Had come back not the same way as him, not via normal medical procedures.
Well, Red got him out of his thoughts on his vivisection that his parents would deem dissection. Out of all the ways to be brought out. The guy who had seen the marks essentially just said bet.
Bringing up his own marks.
Not done fresh, not while awake. Not a vivisection he didn’t even call it a dissection.
No
Autopsy.
Red said autopsy marks.
Faded and light. With how red smelt he wasn’t surprised. Danny had been fairly positive the man had come in contact with the river of revulsion. To be heavily covered in the stench it just made sense. Active and free ghost repellent. Nothing his doctor would order.
Now coming back to life after an autopsy. That. That was unexpected. He himself came back. Only because he was brought back right away. He didn’t linger long enough to get an autopsy. That would have only shown death via the portal. But coming back after that.
No that.
That…
That was unexpected.
Something he had not expected to ever hear. That sounds like it could be problematic. The very balance of life and death. That’s an issue he should deal with. Or maybe he just wouldn’t. Someone coming back to life… well was that actually a problem.  Being alive is fun. There shouldn’t be a leak like that, especially since it wasn’t real ectoplasm that brought him back.
HE would just have to ignore that for now. Not his problem.
Danny technically wasn’t king; he had no powers so why report anything? Also, he really didn’t want to get caught… an abnormality wasn’t that big of a deal.
One person being brought back to life, ages after dying, it can’t be that big.
Yea…
Not his problem.
*******
Jason could handle this. Totally handle it. Definitely, totally absolutely no need to freak out at all.
Maybe he should have hounded them for more info. Not gone radio silent yet again. Jason had just wanted to focus on the passed-out child. The lady from his dreams taunting him about helping some prince. The timing just felt odd to suddenly run into a kid who needs help.
As well he didn’t want to deal with every other bird/bat in Gotham. If they're going to bug him so much, they can track him down. He’ll focus on the kid. It was only a matter of time. They never knew when to back off.
Still.
A hey. The kid was cut open. That would have been nice. He may not be responding but a message may have been nice.
That group really deserved a visit. The facility needed to burn down. Preferably with the perpetrators still inside. Give them a little warm-up of their afterlife.
Jason couldn’t think about this right now. Danny said not to freak out. He couldn’t show his inner turmoil. He went into a neutral expression.
Not quick enough.
Danny went from defeated acceptance into nervous energy and looking ready to bolt. With how grievous the injuries were he wouldn’t get too far. Or even off the couch.
He really needed to get him into the spare bedroom.
Out of all the info he had gotten this had not been mentioned. He knew the kid got injected with something the injures he was warned about. Didn’t equate to vivisection. He couldn’t have a mini freak out right now. Calming down the victim had to come first.
Lying would get him nowhere. No guarantees that he’d be fine now or excuses. Saying everything will be okay would not de-escalate the situation. Offering a lollipop wouldn’t help anything.
No.  None of that. He needed to connect.
His own scar came to mind. The only one that remained after the pits.
He remembers after the pits. His mind came back to himself. It was then he saw his own reflection. It had felt all wrong.
His own body scared in a way to remember he was killed. His own autopsy scars are light and faint.
It wasn’t the same thing by any means. It could be just enough to get the kid out of his own thought. Give him something else to grapple with.
Get the haunted look out of his eyes. Dannys breathing getting more rapid. Get him out of his own head. No one deserves to remember their own death.
His expression was calm and neutral keeping his voice as neutral as possible. “I’ll admit to not being used to seeing those markings fresh, I mean I see my own autopsy marks anytime I’m shirtless in the mirror.”
The change was near instant. Rather than the dark look, now the kid had one of confusion, trying to solve a puzzle. Well, he could work with that.
Let him process that information, then work on getting his guard down. Confusion would be a lot easier to work off of, much better than panicking. He could guide confusion into a reluctant calm. Probably. He wouldn’t be able to properly stitch it up otherwise. And they needed it. The angles of the stitches... man he had to have dealt with that himself. No wonder they were Sloppy and loose.
The fact any were still in place was a shock.
Danny had to have been alone for that.
They were irritated and red, signs of an infection. This was bad. No way he was getting the kid to a doctor. Given the meta factor, normal stuff might not work in the slightest. He could handle the patching up.
Meta drugs or something that could work.
That could be an issue. Maybe that med kit in the bag had something.
He’d have to ask the kid. No way a trusted medical professional would get within 30 feet of this kid.
No way the kid would agree to see Leslie. Well. Maybe in civies and not any sign of being a legit doctor. But bringing anyone in could end in running. Meaning worsening the injuries. He shouldn’t have even been moving after this. Recover was going to be tough.
Even if he did have rapid healing. It certainly wasn’t helping with how he was going. Jumping off roofs and running around. Not good for recovery.
But.
It made sense.
It made too much sense.
Thought for after everything was cleaned and fixed up.
Jason's phone started to buzz against him in his pocket. Bruce no doubt. He's been dodging his calls since last night. Jason had bigger problems to deal with right now.
“Wounds infected, know of anything that works on it” Jason really didn’t expect an answer. Danny was tight-lipped in the alleyway. He had a better tactic to try… “If not ill just wash it out and hope for the best. Takes longer to heal if not, longer you won’t make it to the door.”
Kid rolled his eyes and groaned “My bag, med kit... it glows green. It will probably work” he didn’t seem very sure of if it would or not. No time like the present. So, it was off to the bag.
Glowing green vial…
Nearly the same color as the pits. Only greener and less chunky. So close to pit waters.
“It’s ectoplasm... not pit??? Water. It’s also toxic, so I guess be wary. Unless you’re into that, I guess. I’m literally an ecto-being. Not some pit being. Who calls that stuff pit water? That’s just gross. Did it come from someone’s armpits? Like some stinky old man. No something to fear according to the government. Like they didn't start it”
If he was gonna talk. He most certainly was gonna let him.
“Hunted down for the government's stupid law. Human opened the dang portal. The others wanted to play, not get shot. 0 out of 10 getting shot is deadly… nearly enough as electricity” Danny got quiet after that. He was gonna prod. Just a tad.
“They do that to ya”
“I wish…. it was my parents” spitting out the last word eyes glowing green “Apparently I’m not human enough for them.”
Green glowing eyes, another thing for the mental file.
Here he was looking to confirm the government agency. He knew it was legit, but hearing if they did that to a kid was... Well, That would have given the motivation to eradicate that specific branch. He didn’t need any more motivation, the more he had the quicker it would go down. The kid has too much going against him.
He now had “Parents” to look into.
First calming down the kid. Hopefully getting him into an actual bed. The couch was okay but with those wounds. Not gonna be good enough.
“You drink this stuff or dump it on?” He asked while pulling out one of the vials. Danny just made grabby hands at it. So, he simply handed it over.
Danny just took it like a shot.
Huh?
The white in the kid’s hair started to turn black and must be linked somehow. Maybe a sign of health? Powers? Too many things it could be.
Filing that in the mental file.
Danny’s eyes were dropping. Either the emotional backlash or ectoplasm was getting to him. Good enough to patch up and move the kid to the room. Little to no argument on his part.
Most of exhausted himself already. Easy to do when you have one foot on the grave. The kid would be out for a while. Should be at least.
Yet again to be on the safe side. The backpack was left in the living room the wall opposite the room. The bedroom door was left open. That room made enough noise he wasn’t worried about him walking out. Him going intangible.
That prevents the creaks.
Hence the trackers inside the lining of the backpack. He was a decent enough seamstress. He had all night.
Of course, his phone was vibrating. Despite turning that off.
Did Bruce really think he was going to give up his location? The man keeps calling and texting. He had his meeting with the league, they just needed to deal with the GIW. He could babysit the kid. This was the one safe house he has manages to stay secret. Let him enjoy it until they undoubtedly track it down. Which. Well. They probably already had the location at this point.
Ugh, another vibration. He refused the call. Muting it yet again.
Jason knew he’d have to get the information soon. He couldn’t just dip and for all they knew the kid had enhanced hearing. So, it wasn’t wise to send anyone up.
Not when the kid had just passed out. Who knew how long he would have been out? Danny was most likely to bolt when he first woke up.
It was a no-go on any outside interference. The kid may not be able to successfully get away. He doubted he could bolt out the window. It was the second story. But he wouldn’t take that risk. That supposed ectoplasm in the vial, which was to lose to the Lazarus green pits for him, did bring back some black hair.
He had to be cautious. The brat probably has some of his powers back.
The room did go cold.
Good for Danny, bad for keeping him safe. The kid was a flight risk enough.
And his phone was going off yet again. Bruce because of course it was. Man, he's really gunning for it. Jason had muted his phone three times at this point. Ugh. He wasn’t going to stop, was he?
Jason did need more information.
Ugh.
The kid was out for a second time. He would be out for at least 10 minutes. F it. He could just pop outside. He’d just be quick.

Ancestral 8
There were two more visitors after that.  The Speaker for the Assembly, a woman whose popularity had been derived from her position as poet laureate many years before, and Father Gylefa, who wasn’t quite the head of the rather informal Church of Avlynys.  Like Matthew, they wanted to go over coordination and what, exactly, would be said.
“Are you sure you want to do this before Alicia gets here?” asked Father Gylefa, tugging at his cross-and-eye necklace in a familiar nervous gesture.
Matthew gave him a long-suffering look.
Father Gylefa raised his hands.  “It would be a reasonable excuse.  I stand by what I said about you needing time to process.”
“The country can’t afford it,” said the Speaker.  “We only stayed out of the economic crisis the Faroes are having by the skin of our teeth and the efforts of the School of Heroes.”  She curled her lip.  “And I just heard from the First Shadow that we have some billionaire tech mogul trying to bully his way through the flight lockdown.”
Danny felt his stomach drop.  Vlad.  Couldn’t he mind his own business for five minutes?  The list of things that Danny didn’t want was very, very long at this point, but he had the impression that Vlad coming to Avlynys would be explosive one way or another.
(Especially given that harassing a princess was technically still on the books as a capital offense.)
The Speaker looked apologetic, but she continued.  “We need a king.  Or a queen.  And a Secretary, which we can’t elect without a monarch.  I’m a legislator and advisor, I’m not supposed to be directly receiving spy reports.”
“I know,” said Matthew.  “God and all those gone before help me, but I know.”
Father Gylefa patted his shoulder, then looked past him at Danny and Jazz.  “Ah,” he said, “it has been a while, Danny, Jazz.  You’ve grown.”  His expression grew a touch colder.  “Madeline.”  Then, frostier still.  “Mr. Fenton.”
The Church of Avlynys came into being when, upon being given the cover of Henry VIII’s founding of the Church of England, the entire archipelago leapt gleefully into open heresy.  As such, in addition to being only loosely organized, it was also distinctly heterodox… and had been a staunch opponent of witch trials.
That wasn’t to say it didn’t have problems and had never, ever, participated in any form of religious oppression (it had, sadly).  But it could pull out a very plausible moral high ground now and again.
No one in the family had really approved of Maddie marrying Jack, a ghost hunter.  The extensive background check turning up witch hunters in the family tree hadn’t helped.
Most of the family had… lost some of their hostility towards Jack over time.  Father Gylefa hadn’t.
And, unlike the situation with Vlad, Jack was very aware of it.
“Mr. Gylefa,” replied Jack with the exact same intonation.
“Haha, yeah,” said Danny.  “That’s us, just shooting up.  Maybe we’ll beat the family height record, yeah?”
One of their medieval ancestors was supposed to have been seven feet tall, so…  that was unlikely.  But Danny wasn’t sure what else to say.
The Speaker sighed.  “I’ll go get things started.  It won’t be long before we call for you, your highnesses, lords and ladies, Mr. Fenton.”
Jack watched her go with an expression of resigned offense.  From there, Father Gylefa made small talk with the rest of the family while Matthew fretted, Maddie watched silently, and Jack attempted to make friendly overtures.
It was so painful that Danny was almost glad when they were called out into the Assembly Hall, leaving Sophia, Irene and Jack to watch from the doorway.
The huge room resembled an amphitheater in some ways.  There were seats in curved tiers around the sides of the room, and in the center was a circular raised dais with a small moat-like channel cut between it and the first rank of seats.  The dias had a mosaic map of Avlynys set into it, the nine islands picked out in surprising detail.
The Assembly itself didn’t take up all of the seats.  In less grim circumstances, the upper ranks would be filled with a wide variety of observers, from schoolchildren, to lobbyists, to would-be politicians, to ordinary citizens there on a whim.  Right now, the only observers were local journalists and a singular camera crew.
(Danny hoped that no one he knew back in Amity watched the governmental news channels of tiny nordic countries as a hobby.  This was the first time he and Jazz were publicly appearing as part of the royal family, and he hadn’t really thought through what that entailed.)
Behind the seats, the walls of the hall were filled with traditional Avlynyse heraldry.  The Tree and Pond, nine stars picked out among the curling branches and reflected in the blue-green waters.  The Ancestors’ Eye, bright green and multiplied.  The Nine Sisters, standing on the islands they anthropomorphized like stepping stones.  The Hero’s Arms, rendered variously as a spear and scroll or a knife and a book.
It was an impressive room.  Not as big as parliament, or congress, but still impressive.
Also very intimidating.
The family gathered around the edge of the dais, with Matthew standing tall in the middle of their line.
The Speaker walked out along the walkway to the center of the dais and began to speak.  “Hyr, todag, sy folk sal coronyn Mathyw Alfryd sy Bisige yf sy Hys Dyryse Avlynyse, Sunn Ynyse…”
Danny mentally translated for himself: Here, today, the people shall crown Mathyw Alfryd the Diligent of the House of Dyrys of Avlynys, Son of the Isles, Blood of Kings and Heroes.  Are there any of the House of Dyrys who would oppose this?  One who speaks would call those of the blood to bear witness.
There was a beat of silence.
“Athlyng Yonna Loryn Dyrys Avlynyse, do thou beryn wytnes?”
Lovely thing about Avlynys was that everyone born there had a completely legal English name, and an equally legal Avlynyse name.
Joanna stepped forward, spine ruler-straight, hands clasped in front of herself.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn.”  I bear witness and say nothing in opposition.
“Athlyng Madlyn Myra Dyrys Avlynyse, do thou beryn wytnes?”
Maddie took her place next to her cousin.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn.”
“Ledyn Yugyn Kartyr Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
Eugene took his place significantly more gingerly.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn.”
“Ledyn Lwys Theydyr Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
Lewis nodded before answering.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn.”
“Ledyn Irys Yvlyn Dyrys, Ledyn Georg Lyk Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
The twins moved forward together.  Born at the same time, they had the same rank in traditional rituals.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn,” they said together.
“Ledyn Leo Alfryd Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
“Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn,” said Leo, his voice cracking.  He looked past Lewis and the twins to where Vivian would usually stand during something like this.
“Ledyn Yazmyn Roz Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
There was some whispering from the Assembly, but Jazz stepped forward, leaving Danny alone at the edge of the dais except for Matthew, apparently unaffected.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn.”  She broke protocol by just a hair to look back at Danny.
“Ledyn Dannyl Ymaz Dyrys, do thou beryn wytnes?”
Danny, full of nerves, almost tripped over his own feet, but he managed to reach his assigned place.  “Yn beryn wytnes ekyn sagyn no agyn,” he said, echoing all the others, but very aware of how American his accent was.  What else was he going to say?  That he should be declared king?
That was ridiculous.
The Speaker bowed to them, “So, kumyn, Athlyng Mathyw.  Syon thy folk.”
Matthew walked past them, to the opposite edge of the dias.
“Athlyng Mathyw, wel thou sweryn…”  Prince Mathyw, will you swear to your people to serve and defend them, in all ways written in the law, in body and spirit?  To lead them in the dark and the light?”
As far as binding oaths went, Danny thought it was simple and elegant.  The metaphor might be used by someone being a literal genie like, say, Desiree, but as far as humans went, it was understandable and clear.
“Yn wel sweryn so,” replied Matthew.
The Speaker nodded sharply, and called for the Cup of the Oath.  The Cupbearer - yes, it was an official position, but it didn’t hold all that much responsibility… or at least, it hadn’t - hurried in from the wings, holding up the ancient gold goblet.  Other aides followed in his wake, moving to distribute more modern glasses among the Assembly.
Danny hardly noticed them, however.  His attention was on the furious and frightened-looking ghosts following the Cupbearer.  Danny hadn’t even noticed when Vivian and Gwensyvyr had slipped away, too caught up with his own nerves, but now…
Vivian flew up into his face, teeth bared, cuts on her skin bleeding pink.  Danny looked at her, looked at Gwensyvyr’s broad and exaggerated pointing at the goblet, looked at Matthew, who was even now reaching out to take it, reached a conclusion, and made a decision.
“Wait!” he said, stumbling forward, one hand raised.  “Stop!”
One of the servers dropped a wineglass.  Matthew turned to face him, every inch of his skin drenched in consternation.  Maddie grabbed his elbow and dragged him back into line, albeit in the wrong spot.
“Don’t,” said Maddie, quietly.  “You don’t want to expose yourself to the pol–”
“I’m probably just being paranoid,” said Danny, loudly, clearly, projecting his voice.  He tried not to look at the ghosts, more than one of whom had taken on a distinct posture of relief.  “But, cousin…  Will you test it?  Before you drink?  Just in case.”
The Cupbearer’s mouth, already open, dropped even further.  “I tested it!” he objected.
“Danny,” said Matthew, quietly, clearly trying to salvage the situation.  “Dannyl, we’ve tested everything here dozens of times, after what… happened.  It’s fine.”
The ghosts seemed to think otherwise.
Danny pulled away from Maddie and took a couple quick steps forward, wanting to make his case again - or be in a position to knock away the cup if Matthew suddenly grabbed it - whereupon the Cupbearer threw the contents of the goblet at Danny.
Wine dripped down his face.
Matthew inhaled deeply and pressed his hands together as if praying for patience.  Danny wasn’t paying too much attention, having noticed something much more disturbing than Matthew reaching the end of his rope.
“Your Majesty,” squeaked the Cupbearer.  “I’m so sor–”
“Not crowned yet,” said Matthew.  “Danny–”
“I can’t feel my skin,” said Danny.  Belatedly, he remembered basic lab safety - a common problem in his family, apparently - and started stripping off the clothes that had been soaked by the wine.
“Oh, god,” said Maddie, barely audible.
“What?”
“I can’t feel my skin,” said Danny.  “I’m going numb.  I can’t - ow, heck.”  Formal clothes were hard to get off when your vision was doing funny things.
“Medics!” snapped Matthew and there was a small commotion that Danny could hear but not see.  “Security, arrest this man!”
“Sir, we have to move you to a safer location.”
“I will not–”
“Danny–”
“Don’t!”  Danny told Jazz.  “I don’t want you to get any of this on you.”
“Danny, are you–?”
“Dad, don’t!”  The words came out slurred.  The wine was still on his face, on his hands, dripping and dribbling down his neck.  Was it safe to use his clothing to try and wipe it off?
Danny could feel his heart and breathing start to slow.  Not to the point where it was dangerous to him, but he didn’t like the implications.
“Jazz,” he said, “my kit–”
“I’ll bring it to you, as soon as I can.”
“Sir?” said someone.  “My name is Emily, and I’m trained in first aid.  If you could turn towards me…”

Danny Phantom Randomness (Reality Check)
Tumblr media
One thing really I love about the episode “Reality Trip” is how sincere Jack and Maddie are about accepting Danny because he’s Danny, their precious baby boy. It was nice to see them admit that yeah sure, they do tend to get carried away with all their ghost hunting stuff, but at the end of the day they love their children very much even if it doesn’t always show and if they knew better neither of them would EVER harm a hair on Danny’s head. Everyone makes mistakes and this is by far one of the most heartfelt moments between Danny and his parents in the show so it’s a shame that when Danny revealed his secret to the world again in the series finale all we got was-
Jack: Nice job, Danny. Or should we say, Danny... Danny: What? Uh. Sorry citizens, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Maddie: Isn't there something you wanna tell us? Jazz: It's okay, Danny. They know.
Then Danny changes back in front of everyone, they clap, and that’s it. Now, let’s compare that to the interaction at the end of “Reality Trip” just after Danny saved Sam, Tucker’s, and his own parents from Freakshow which if you’ll recall is ALSO a time when everyone in the world technically knew Danny’s secret because he accidentally changed back on camera during a Dumpty Humpty concert.
Jack: Danny! Maddie: Young man? Danny: I...I'm sorry. Gah! [Jack crushes him in a bear hug] Jack: We're very proud of you, son. Maddie: Oh! Oh, my baby boy! [Kissing his cheek] Danny:  But I lied to you. Over and over for a really long time. If I were you guys, I'd be furious. Maddie: Well, of course you lied to us. We never gave you a reason not to. Jack: All this time we've been yammering on destroying and dissecting ghosts. I'd have been terrified too, if I were you. Maddie: We love you, sweetie. You. Jack: Whether you're ghost, boy, or something in between.
Like, seriously despite their flaws I think under the right circumstances Danny could have told them the truth about himself which could have changed everything for him in a big way. That’s actually the point of this post, to talk about how things could have been different if Danny erased everyone’s memories EXCEPT for his parents. So first of all, since Jazz knows too and pointed out the reasons why Danny was scared to tell them in the first place I think it’d be nice for them to sit down and talk it all out.
First of all, I’m assuming it’s been at least a year now since the accident and Jack’s first sighting of the ‘ghost boy’ which made him change his mind about giving up ghost hunting after he and Maddie got carried away thinking Jazz was a ghost when they thought she was ‘acting out of character.’  To be fair, Danny’s probably not going to tell them EVERYTHING since he did overshadow his dad a lot early on which could be embarrassing for them both and get Danny in trouble for literally manipulating him like that. But the big kicker here is, ironically, how he’s going to have to tell them about Vlad since the whole half-ghost thing technically started with him first.
You think they feel guilty now attacking their own son, try imagining how horrified they’d be to find out that Jack DID ruin Vlad’s life to some extent and he’s been fighting their son ever since who has been trying to protect them from their former best friend. Vlad’s manipulation is SO much worse than anything Danny did and oooo, Maddie isn’t going to be afraid to rip HIM apart molecule by molecule once she finds out Vlad is the one who rigged it so they’d end up in the Rockies that one time AND sent those ghosts after her son while he was powerless. Jack’s going to be pissed too realizing Vlad possessed HIM during their college reunion, putting Maddie and his kids in danger. But all that aside for now, the big thing to note here is how Jack and Maddie are going to have to take responsibility for their part in both portal accidents now that created the only half-ghosts in the world...
It’ll be a tough pill to swallow for sure but based on that chat Vlad and Jack had in space while trying to destroy the Disasteroid, Jack does understand what he did and feels bad about it. He’s not stupid. And most importantly, Jack realizes Vlad’s not his friend anymore and ends their relationship. That’s why I feel like if Maddie and Jack found out about all the horrible things Vlad actively did to Danny over the past year, they’d cut ties with him altogether for the good of their family. Meanwhile, Danny would finally have his parents a 100% on his side and willing to try to understand him and the unusual circumstances he’s been dealing with on top of being a teenager.
I won’t get into the major changes like how most of season 3 wouldn’t have happened but what I will say is that having Maddie reject Vlad to his face for endangering and tormenting her son is something that would actually send Vlad off the deep end. Honestly, he’ll be lucky if Jack and Maddie don’t threaten to expose his secret to the world themselves and actually ruin his life unless he stays away from their family from now on. Think about it, Vlad has attacked Danny, their 14 year old son countless times but it’s not like they could get him arrested without revealing Danny’s secret too which means this would have to be the next best thing.
Anyways, let’s say this is when Vlad decides to take over the world to force Maddie to be his or...better yet maybe he’ll start looking for a way to change the past or reality altogether to get what he wants at any cost. Danny already destroyed the Reality Gauntlet, but there are probably other powerful relics hiding both in the real world and the Ghost Zone for Vlad to track down. Vlad might even try another classic villain route with brainwashing/hypnotism as a last ditch effort to win Danny’s loyalty and Maddie’s love. Meanwhile, now Danny has to deal with a new problem of his parents AND Jazz being overprotective and getting in the way of his ghost hunting until they come up with some ground rules or something. Not to mention there’s still Valerie who is technically still working for Vlad at this point and still doesn’t know the whole story after Danny reset the rest of the world to forget his secret who might just be able to convince her to kidnap Danny to free him from the ghost Danny PHANTOM possessing him.
Blegh, sorry I have a lot of thoughts in my head about this so sorry if I’m rambling. The point is, I would have liked to see the real ‘reveal’ to his parents go more like it did in “Reality Trip” when it comes as a huge relief that his parents openly accepted him without Danny having to deal with the world at large knowing his secret too. His life could have become easier in some ways but harder in others which would have been really interesting to see since we never got to see what happened after “Phantom Planet.” I might go into more detail later but for now, lets leave it at that.
P.S. You can watch the clips here for more context!

Danny Phantom beach episode, except instead of being on the beach, it’s on a cruise ship, because Jack’s unpredictable insane luck manages to win the Fentons a family vacation cruise from one of those candy bar contests, y’know the ones that candy companies always seem to be running for some reason. So they all go, on the cruise, because it could be fun and exciting, and also because I said so. Coincidentally Vlad is also on the ship, because he’s a rich creepy stalker with no life outside of obsessing over this one family. And seeing him Jack is immediately like “Oh wow! Vladdie you’re here! This is great, you could watch the kids while me and my beautiful beloved wife, who I have been married to for nearly two decades, enjoy some alone time on this romantic cruise! Me and Maddie have been so worried about leaving the kids alone, but that’s not gonna be a problem now that you’re here!” So Vlad gets stuck with babysitting duty. On a cruise ship. Or, well, technically... Jazz gets stuck with babysitting duty because Vlad and Danny keep throwing each other overboard.

Danny Phantom but make it murder mystery + supernatural/horror elements
Basically an idea of an au of which Danny Phantom fuses with Detective Conan. Throw both in a pot. Let it simmer for a while. Add some mysteries to the mix, a pinch of family and comfort, a couple of case solvings, a big bowl full off horror and supernatural elements. Mix them together and let it boil for over to dry a bit before adding a whole gallon of angst.
Boy i just got this idea today and i wanna throw it up here because i do not want it to live free rent here in my head.
Alright, let's get this over with.
There will be a lot of changes like the settings and all.
Alright. Here we go. Jack and Maddie Fenton are still scientists BUT! Both of them are morally dubious and sometimes can be a little bit darker than the sunshine vibe and image that they give off. They do not work for anyone and work only for themselves. They are a renown scientists and people's opinions on them diverge from time to time. Some people are wary and afraid of them while others applauded their works as scientists and look up to them.
Their children are geniuses. The public prefers the eldest daughter to look up to but they adore the youngest son. The children are famous in their own field. Jazz is on her way to be the youngest kid in history to ever enter a prestigious university and making a name for it in the psychology course.
Danny is still a fan of the space. Technically, he gain more benefits from his inventors parents because to appease him and not have him bothered them back in the younger days, they created all sort of inventions that can help Danny understand the space. They give him everything that they could with their money and genius brain. However, they are not a good parents. They still love their children but sometimes they forgot their responsibilities and often ignored them in favor of their own job. They put too much pressure on the children it nearly drove them apart.
Jazz have a love hate relationship with her parents. She is the oldest and the toughest daughter. Yes she is hurt by her parents and their decisions to deal with them but she always could brush it off. But when it comes to her baby brother she will literally explode and rage. Danny is miserable. He was happy when his parents give him gifts like books and inventions related to space. He even have his own small ship. But after the presents, his parents would dismissed him and get lost in their own world ignoring everthing in favour of study and science. Danny is Maddie's favourite child but he is often at the end of her dissapointment and rage. Jack always divert it from Danny whenever he is there. Maddie did not cross the line. However, she nearly cross it when she slapped Danny so hard it bruises when he was 10 years old. That day forever scar in Danny's brain. It happened because of an incident with a precious research paper.
Maddie felt guilty and tried to apologize by giving him more gifts. Jazz doesn't trust her mother around Danny anymore. Jack, ... He ignored everything and decided that nothing ever happened.
Jazz is five years older than Danny. She was 19 years old when her brother Danny, 14 years old goes missing. Her parents went into hiding a week before his dissappearance. She thought that it might be connected. The moment their parents dissappeared, they could not even contact them at all. They were left with money and other things for them to survive.
Her brother was missing for six months with no trace after both of them went to a science expo. Then he suddenly showed all bloody and bruised. He looks haunted. She found him shivering near the Fenton Family main house.
But one major change is that he is now a child. A 5 years old child. She recognized her brother as that child. Of course she would know him. She is his sister. She was the one that mainly raised him in the Fenton Family.
He lied about himself. She thinks that Danny was just trying to protect her. She studied the psychology of humans. Her main subject. She knows the child she dubbed as her Danny did not in fact act much like how a child will. Not even a child that is wise beyond their years.
Danny is oblivious though but she will keep her mouth shut right now. She will wait until he is ready to tell her.
Jazz was afraid for Danny so she let Danny's file be written as a dead file. Cast away to be forgotten for an unknown period. He is officially dead in papers and media. No one knows of the real predicament.
Danny only introduces himself as Niel which is kind of stupid of him even though he was supposed to be a genius child. Really Danny? The name derived from your own real name?
One thing for sure that everything that she knows as something unbelievable and never existed are now flipped over.
Supernatural things are true.
And Danny is the proof of it.
Danny looks so afraid. Those... creatures always goes after her brother and nearly took him away from her. She was afraid for him. The creatures seems enchanted with his presence and will always find a way to whisk him away from her grasp.
She can't see the creatures. But she knows that they are there. Too much evidence in front of her eyes shows that in fact the supernatural exists.
She once saw one of those creatures. It was when Danny was being carried by her. It's kind of weird. Usually when she was carrying him around, she did not see them. But she only sees it for a brief moment.
So she studied more about the supernatural things. She needs to have all of the subjects about the the supernatural and the other side of reality covered because it is important.
Important to protect her brother against the unknown.
Danny, to simply say it, could contact the dead and have the ability that is ... supernatural. Like a medium or liminal. And it effects him greatly. It not only effects his health but his lifestyle. His life. She tried to keep him safe.
Then she met these teenagers who seems taken with Danny. Well, not really teenagers. Only 13 years old boy and girl. It seems Danny have them in his tiny grasps..good. He needs friends and all the supports he could get.
Tucker Foley and Sam Manson are average teenagers at best. They are not in fact, friends. Just acquaintance at best. They always clash with each other. Sam and Tucker's fight rivals the fight between Paulina and Sam.
They always argue with each other and only in an agreement rarely. Danny acts like some sort of glue. Sam wants to see who the child that was adopted by the famous Fenton daughter. She dragged Tucker because he knows the place and has seen the kid.
Niel (Danny) takes her interest because he is something different. A concept she can't grasp. Bonus is that he is involved in something supernatural. Tucker did not like how she is around Niel. He loves Niel but goodness he will be around often with Niel when Sam is around. She will drag the poor child into something dangerous if she keeps that kind of behaviour and thinking.
Jack Fenton came back from hiding but Maddie Fenton is still missing. Jack looks somber and sad. Almost depressed. He said that he needs time away from his wife. He said both of them need time away from each other.
Almost like both of them are thinking about divorce.
Jack believes Danny's and Jazz's lies and is even more sad to know that his son is missing and possibly dead. Having Niel around causing him grief and heartache but he is never the one to lash out. Jack is still a scientist at heart but he will never repeat his mistakes. He has a chance now.
It does not mean that Jack is not going to stop looking for his son.
Danny's first murder case was when Sam dragged him with her and her parents to a party. Jack and Jazz are invited too. They are famous and the rich people there want famous people.
There they met the Gray duo. They met Damon Gray and Valerie Gray. Valerie is in the same class as Sam and Tucker. Sam and Valerie do not get along at all. Even more so than Sam and Tucker. Tucker and Sam agree that Valerie cannot be anywhere near Danny.
Tucker does like Valerie but as in girls in particular. Tucker does have a standard. Damon Gray is in the Police Force. He is in the investigation team. The detective is Mr Weston. Wes's father. Wes is actually one of the junior detectives learning under his father's teaching. Wes is usually seen hanging around Tucker and sometimes Valerie.
Crime happened and there was a lot of blood. Danny was at the scene having witnessed the murder happened. He can't see the face of the culprit but he knows other things like the culprit voice, height, and body shape.
He is under witness protection. Danny wants to tell them that something is going to happen to the killer. That something is angry. And that more people will end up dead if they did not find the killer quick.
Danny helps Wes and his father find the killer. Wes is suspicious of the Niel kid but oh well. Wes is 13 years old. Wes does know that Niel is hiding something and he will uncover it but he did not want to face the wrath of one Jasmine Elena Fenton.
A spirit is involved in the story between the murderer and the victims. That is the first step Danny is involved in the world of crimes and supernatural mixed in.

So a few weeks ago I had a thought about who in the show was the best parent overall.
Sure, Jack and Maddie had their moments, but neither were there for Danny all the time, either too focused on catching ghosts or inventing. We even see how this affects the family dynamic with Jazz trying to grow into an adult figure even though she’s not entirely ready for that responsibility.
Then I realized that there was one parent on the show who was attentive to the needs of their child the most, and even the needs of other: Damon Gray, aka, Valerie’s dad.
And in case you can’t tell, this is indeed an essay. Well, kind of, if you push away any grammatical errors, but I don’t have time for that so we’re diving right into this.
Damon only appears in six episodes in the show, and only speaks lines in five of them. Therefore I’ll be eliminating D-Stabilize, as well as Phantom Planet as he doesn’t do anything there.
We first get to know about Damon in the episode Shades of Gray, which not only shows Valerie with the voice we hear for the rest of the show, but the start of her ghost hunting and subsequent interactions with Danny Phantom. Valerie mentions her dad right away in this shot, where she states "$579 and worth every one of my dad's pennies.”

We’re made aware of not only Valerie’s status as an A-Lister, but the fact that Damon makes enough money to be able to buy her expensive clothes as well as the home that they live in which shows up later in the same episode.
Tumblr media
Which makes sense as he designed the state of the art security system at Axion Lab, at least shortly before it’s revealed to not be ghost-proof.
Things go south for the Grays really quick. With Damon fired from his position, they’re unable to afford their home and selling everything they own in a yard sale before they move out to Elmerton.
Man I hate that name, but back on track.
Damon’s given a single chance to go back to the research lab and guard the remains. It’s also revealed he was in charge of several employees before his very large demotion to a security guard. Which means he’s also dealing with the change in living spaces as much as Valerie. But ultimately, he takes the job to provide a place for him and his daughter.
He doesn’t show up till the very end, but he’s able to recognize Valerie’s voice while she’s fighting Danny in her ghost hunting suit. He doesn’t learn her identity as Tucker creates a distraction, but I never noticed this detail until the re-watch of the episode.
The next episode where we see Damon is in Reign Storm, the two-part special episode that fuels all Ghost King AU fics. He’s among the adults watching the TV as the Ghost Emergency Broadcasting System takes over the feed, and hears the warning to all parents to pick up any of their kids attending Casper High before the ghosts get close to the area. Hearing this, Damon heads straight to the school to get Valerie.
Also here’s a nice shot of a photograph with both of them on Damon’s desk in Axion Lab. It’s real touching that he placed it there right near his computer, which is offscreen.
Tumblr media
Okay back to the essay.
The moment he arrives at Casper High, he asks “where’s Valerie?” This father wants to make sure his daughter’s safe and sound. Unfortunately, he and Maddie come across an unconscious and bruised Valerie with Danny standing nearby.
Tumblr media
Understandably both of them are suspicious of Danny before he states “She was like that when I got here.” Neither are aware of the circumstances that lead to Valerie’s injuries. At least not yet anyways.
Later Damon is working alongside the Fentons to keep the ghost shield stabilized and to protect the city. His experience in the technical aspects of security as well as a need to understand ghosts in order to ghost-proof Axion Lab makes him more than eligible to help them out. From what Damon can guess, Valerie was harmed by ghosts, which means he has to make sure nobody else, much less her, gets hurt.
Then he shows up right after every adult in Amity Park somehow karate-chops each other unconscious and he spots Phantom and Valerie, who’s in her ghost hunting suit. Except this time, Phantom reveals her identity to her father, who immediately holds her up away from the ghost. The moment they’re alone in the room, he gives a small talk to Valerie.
“You’ve been fighting ghosts? All this time?”
Tumblr media
“Are you okay?”
He could’ve ask any other questions. “How long have you been doing this?” “Is this why you’ve been coming home late at night?” “Why didn’t you tell me?” He could’ve said anything else.
But Damon’s never been that person. Time and time he’s proven to make decisions to ensure Valerie’s wellbeing, and he asks the single question he can to a daughter who’s already injured from a previous ghost fight:
“Are you okay?”
And only after Damon hears Valerie saying “I’m fine” does he put her down and says “Then you are in so much trouble!” At first glance the line’s delivered a bit harsh, but given he just put the pieces of how his daughter got injured in the first place and also was willing to try and use the suit which could literally kill her, I’d say it was justified.
Damon’s last line in the episode is “Valerie? Was that the ecto-gun?” Which means he’ll be keeping a sharper eye on his daughter now that he’s made aware of her being a ghost hunter.
Which means it’s time for an awkward cutaway to “The Ultimate Enemy,” another two-part special episode, and the third episode that Damon appears in. Kind of.
It’s ten years into the future, and Amity Park remains the only city unharmed by Dan Phantom, an alternate future version of Danny with an urge to kill the remaining humans on earth.
Damon and Valerie are still alive, albeit Damon is missing an eye and a limb. But both work together to protect the city, with Valerie as their protector and Damon as the one who manages the technology behind the advanced ghost shields. At the beginning they’re doing a routine check up on the generators, with Damon appearing on her watch for a moment.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t say many lines, but Valerie makes one thing clear as Dan begins to damage the city: she has to make sure her dad’s safe as he did so many times for her in the past.
It’s bittersweet as we’re reminded that most likely everyone that Valerie grew up with at Casper High is likely dead from all the years of Dan attacking the city. Damon’s all that’s left of those times before then, and Valerie can’t afford to loose him too.
With that episode out of the way, we’re onto the last appearance of Damon in Flirting With Disaster. Being Valerie’s dad, he allows the class to go on a field trip to tour Axion Labs. I think it’s pretty darn nice of him to allow the students this opportunity.
Damon pulls Danny aside and asks him “Are you okay? You seem nervous, son.” He knows that Valerie likes Danny, and he wants to make sure the teen’s aware that he’s fine with this. He also instructs Danny to keep any talk about his parent’s ghost hunting business away from Valerie. Damon doesn’t want Valerie to end up as badly injured as during the events of Reign Storm, and perhaps he’s also worried her new hobby might cause conflict between her and Danny relationship wise.
Also I have the need to point out how Damon makes every teen look very smol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy is tall. Not as tall as Jack, but probably close.
Anyways in conclusion, Damon Gray is a great dad and an overall better parental figure than pretty much every parent in the show. He’s shown to make decisions to protect Valerie, is very knowledgeable in security systems, kind, and considerate. I think I can say with confidence that Valerie’s lucky to have a dad like that.
