I desperately need non teen titans fans to know that we didn't come up with fab five. The Fabulous Foursome is what Dick, Donna, Wally, and Garth were called by the narrator when the team got properly started in The Brave and the Bold and Showcase. Roy was the fan pick to join the team through voting and thus the title "fab five" was born.
They're not just fabulous to the fans, they're fabulous canonically.

…I was going through your archive and found an ask where you suggested replacing canon Bruce with Brave and the Bold Bruce/Batman. And now can’t stop thinking of that Batman meeting Cass and just going “Hm. The spirit of crime fighting lies in us all.” Or something. Basically. I want those two in a situation together. See what happens.
I think having a mellow Bruce for a role model would fix her. He's living proof that you can be Batman without being an emotionally stunted self pitying asshole about it. Plus you just know she thinks the corny silver age one liners are unironically the coolest thing ever. I think after spending five minutes with him you'd need to drag her kicking and screaming back to her own Bruce.

Given everything that is going on in the states, I have almost fully turned to buying in trade, and I am very much looking forward to these two Dick Grayson stories getting their due in late summer and fall. 💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman: Year Three is one of the best Dick Grayson origins ever told and does not get enough attention even though it is written by Marv Wolfman as a reintroduction of Dick as a main player in the Bat mythos.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Across the Universe collects the spectacular "Down the Road" story by Tim Seeley, which features Nightwing and Deadman in a supernatural circus folk tale story.
Also, shoutout to the affordable Compact Edition of New Frontier, which has a few small Dick appearances in it as well!

I would like a story about Duke Thomas being able to see ghosts as another facet of his powers.
And like… Him just vibing in the manor, only to see a blond ghost kid following around his family, with funny, unappreciated quips.
Who are you??
I’m Lance. I’m technically your older brother.
Chaos ensues.
(Dick, Bruce, and Alfred do NOT talk about Lance and therefore, no one knows that they had another brother named Lance Bruner).

Been checking on old issues of The Brave and the Bold... and hit the one with Nightwing, Hawkman, Deadman team up.
Oh man...
Dick literally saving the world...by bluffing practically every hero team into another dimension.
Not only do they take his word (and I guess he rigged up some fake proofs or stats) and follow his lead, it's pretty much stated none of them will hold the trickery against him.
And sure, there's no fallout from the incident anywhere, Dick still commands the respect/love/trust of almost all DCU, so yeah, apparently that's true.
But what I find most hilarious is imagining Batman's reaction when he gets back to find out what happened. He was away on a space mission, and when he comes back it is to find that
a) Dick effectively trapped every hero on earth in a pocket dimension with nothing more than a good bluff.
b) None of them are after him for payback, they still trust him, and if he asked it again, they will probably go along again.
That is the day Batman decided the only contingency plan for a Nightwing who turned villain is, 'Pray it never happens'.
That's hilarious and exactly what I love about Dick. He's a good manipulator not only because he knows how to do it, but because he can get away with it even if he's found out. And I think it kind of makes sense since his manipulations tend to be for a very good reason, so when others find out why he did it they just shrug and think "Okay, that's fair, I would've done the same" or something along those lines.

Batman had The Brave and The Bold for Team-ups. Superman had DC Comics Presents and briefly he had World's Finest for Team-Ups too. On the Marvel side of things, there was Marvel Team-up (which starred Spider-Man as our team-up lead), and Marvel Two-In-One (which starred The Thing). I can only imagine what DC and Marvel could have done if they'd chosen to do a third team-up book, and what hero could lead that book. So I'm going to do a poll on it, just because i'm curious. I'll give options of some of my favorite characters from DC and/or Marvel (or just characters that I think would make for a great leads in team up settings), and then i'll let you vote on it. Just because I want to see who would win these polls. I'll start with DC first, I guess.
And since I can only do one poll per post, i'll save the marvel one for afterwards. I already have some good options in mind for a Marvel one. Possibly more even than for this one.
