Cryptid!Alfred, who is actually immortal. Like, he cannot die for forever - he did once, during the war, and after that... for some reason, he kept coming back, completely without any additional magical help. He sometimes dies again, and then mysteriously comes back on the next morning, as if nothing happened. Bruce used to it at some point, so instead of asking questions (Alfred has no answers, anyway) he just pretends that it is normal. He gaslights kids to think the same. Like, what do you mean he died, Damian? No, he is alrightish. Look in the kitchen, he is making us breakfast. It probably was just a bad dream.
So, when Jason dies and gets back? Oh, Alfred knows his grandson has the same curse/blessing. Because it wasn't the Lazarus Pit that brought Jason back after all, but some strange, unexplainable force. Perhaps, both of them are just bound to end up as guardians, as warriors and protectors - that's why they keep coming back.
...Nevertheless, it doesn't make their family less... anxious about the whole thing. These two from the other side? Oh, they absolutely enjoy their immortal hang-out hours.
Jason: What was your funniest death?
Alfred: I am going to say... that one time, when I was teaching young master Bruce using a hunting rifle, and he accidentally shot me. I came back in fifteen minutes, and, of course, a poor thing was sobbing, but afterwards he was doing all chores for a month. Wonderful days.
Jason: Damn, poor Brucie... My funniest gotta be that one time, when Roy and I got drunk, and I legit jumped off the building because I thought I can fly. Roy had never got sober that quick.
(The first time Jason dies on the family's watch)
Dick, sobbing: Alfred... Alfred... He died! His neck was snapped! How can I live-
Alfred, casually leaning to snap Jason's neck again: Wake up, my boy.
Jason, dramatically gasping for air: Damn, who made me a massage, while I was sleeping?
Tim: What. The. Fuck.
#little Dick was living in the strange horror when he was little#like wdym our butler respawns I literally saw him dying on the FOOTAGE#after moving out he gaslights himself to believe that it had never happened.#he starts ignoring all strange instances as Bruce after that#then Jason joins A's club. and Dick feels like he is a side char in horror again WHAT THE FUCK#Tim has a record of their deaths and just uses it as a project#Damian doesn't understand the hype. isn't it normal for families? his own do that all the time#(secretly thinks it is cool that A & J doesn't need the Lazarus Pit for that)#Bruce pretends to be nonchalant but he is in the verge of tears every time Alfred and Jason die again#also don't write me about the super punch that somehow brought Jason back alive I assure you it was Gotham (the city) bringing him back /hj#jason todd#red hood#dcu comics#dc universe#dcu#batman#bruce wayne#batfamily#batfam#alfred pennyworth#dick grayson#tim drake

I actually can't get past the lack of respect shown to Peter Krause throughout this mess.
This isn't just a character who was in the show for a couple of episodes. No, this was the male lead, who has led the show proudly for eight seasons and is the literal heart of it - and who DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE.
But yet the show decided to do the following:
His death is so poorly written and rushed, that no-one is actually convinced that he's gone because of the multiple plot holes
The funeral was a mere footnote in an episode, where the main plot was a storyline that took the mick out of the fans, and the funeral scenes itself were less than five minutes long in total
Not to mention said funeral was leaked ahead of time with little to no effort it seems to stop this from happening
Created a very similar storyline in "Hotshots" and used this as a way to mock the fans
Only let Peter do the one exit interview and even that was just a two-minute pre-recorded interview
The Bobby Nash tribute video gets deleted off all of the show's social media
Oliver Stark also deletes his tribute to Peter Krause from IG
Peter Krause is referred to merely as "collateral damage" by Tim Minear
There's apparently been no wrap party for Peter, to say goodbye or pay tribute to him and his work on the show
Not to mention (again), no tribute to him on the show's social media
Pretty much have written him completely out of the show in terms of selling the Bathena house and burying him away from LA
No montage in the show to pay tribute to Bobby - even Michael Grant got a better send off and his actor was actively suing the show at the time of his departure
Allowed two cast members to leak a script onto their socials which teased Bobby returning, and for the actual scene to follow this script until literally the last bit, so no-one actually knows if this was fake or real [this is a belated edit]
Two days before the season finale, they use a poster with both Angela and Peter on it at Disney Upfront, therefore getting everyone's hopes up again that he's still on the show (& reminding everyone that he is literally one of the draws of this show lol) [another belated edit, thanks to @otherworldlydragon for pointing this out!]
Ryan Guzman only paying tribute to Pete/Bobby with a couple of memey stories [another edit, as pointed out by @captainbobbynash118]
It's all done so badly, that you can't help but think that maybe something has gone on behind the scenes - but Pete seems universally loved by his fellow cast-mates and the crew, and most of them have been just as distraught as the fans with him leaving (Kenny and Angela in particular).
Maybe it's just inexperience; you can tell that this show has never killed off a main character before with how much they've fumbled this.
The way Peter/Bobby has been treated is nothing short of insulting, disrespectful and baffling; he deserved better than this.
Peter - I’m so sorry this has happened and whilst I’m gutted to see you no longer as Cap, I can’t wait to see you truly thrive under a new project, with writers who will truly respect you.

Imagine the Virmire Sacrifice as the Cerberus assassin instead of Kai Leng
Inspired by my poll
Kai Leng was a terrible character from terrible novels. No one wanted him in the games. He could barely handle a Drell with space cancer and couldn’t even kill Anderson and Sanders, but they want us to expect us to believe that Leng is Shepard’s equal? To me I would just have him executed on Omega since Leng DID kill Aria's daughter.
But yes storywise, it's better. Shepard was haunted about not being able to save either Kaidan/Ashley. TIM would use the Virmire casualty as Plan B should Shepard turn against his interests.
Imagine Cerberus was on Virmire. Cerberus scientists working on a counter agent to stop the Genophage cure and even working on a virus that could kill Saren.
The Illusive Man reveals to his agents it's too late, however he tells them there can be a valuable asset they can retrieve.
Cerberus mad dashes to the bomb site and grabs Ash/Kaidan in time, however the bomb goes off and the after shock hits the Cerberus vessel and renders the Virmire survivor in a comatose state.
A second Cerberus ship comes and rescues Ash/Kaidan. They report to TIM that Project Virmire is ago, but once they wake up, it will take a lot of convincing. TIM has a plan.
The Virmire survivor wakes up during the time of ME2. Confused, they recognize this is not an Alliance facility and definitely no Council race facility. They put two and two together and realize it's Cerberus and try to escape and then they are sedated.
They are brought before TIM. Ash/Kaidan swears they would rather die than join Cerberus. Explains they know about Admiral Kahoku, the Rachni, Thorian and Husk experiments and most importantly Akuze.
TIM explains it easily. That they were a necessary evil. and tells them how easily their near death experience could've been avoided if those monstrosities were weaponized against Saren. The Admiral knew too much and Akuze, Shepard/Toombs got justice and Dr Wayne was put on a very public trial that damaged Cerberus reputation.
Then the manipulation begins.
If it's Ashley, then TIM uses the fact that he knew and personally served under her grandfather. Shepard, The Alliance and the Council left her for dead and acts as if the Reapers don't exist, as if the very reason she went missing never happened. Says things how "I've seen your records and seen you in action. If you were there, Shanxi never would've fallen and the Williams family would be the most prestigious family in the Alliance and you would've been the first human Spectre, not Shepard." "You were looked down on the Alliance, the family that was cursed because the good general wanted to protect and save lives. Little do you know, the Turians were looking for something on Shanxi. Saren was there, and his brother" Ashley looks curious. He has her. He explains his story with General Williams, Desolas Arterius and Saren. Desolas indoctrinated for Turian supremacy, leading Saren down the path he would take and what would be the foundation of Cerberus. Ashley asks one simple question. "When do I start?"
If it's Kaidan, TIM uses Kaidan's past against him. His righteous murder of Vyrnnus that he was shunned and how gifted he was. Admitting Cerberus should have snatched him when they had the chance. "Had we had you, you could've provided our failed experiment the guidance she needed(obviously I'm talking about Jack here) then goes on to tell him how the Alliance abandoned him, Shepard has forsaken him and worse of all, they all deny the existence of the Reapers. Kaidan refuses to believe him and snaps. Cerberus agents are prepare to stun him, TIM wavers them off. Kaidan gives off a look that he wants revenge. On The Alliance, The Council and Shepard. "They will all pay."
Ashley would be turned into Cerberus' Super Soldier. Wearing the Cerberus Assault Armor(the armor WE wear, not the shitty ME3 grunt armor), but with the Shade/Nightmare/Spirit helmet.
Kaidan becomes a mix of Phantom and Phoenix. The ultimate human biotic, he is what Jack could've became if they kept her.
Their goals would be to eliminate high valued targets for Cerberus. Killing key Alliance figures, people who are close to cracking down on Cerberus(example, Dr Wayne was publicly assassinated and after Toombs threat to get a merc team to hunt Cerberus down, they kill him) killing Alien leaders and a whole bunch of targets that stand in Cerberus's way to control the Reapers.
Or in a different scenario. The explosion nearly destroys the ship carrying them in, causing them to be husks of their former selves.
Cerberus in this scenario would experiment on them to make them the ultimate soldier for Cerberus. They would essentially become The Winter Soldier of Mass Effect.
it would’ve been far more impactful if the Cerberus assassin was masked, and later revealed to be a heavy cyborg’d and indoctrinated Ashley/Kaiden, whichever you left behind on Virmire. There would be a reaction if you bring the one you saved with to encounter the one we did not save on Thesia.
But storywise.
The first time you meet the Cerberus Assassin, is on Earth. We see this shadow stalking you and Anderson and as we’re leaving Earth, we see Kai Leng killing Anderson. With Shepard swearing revenge.
Throughout ME3, Ash/Kaidan would be stalking Shepard. Causing trouble as we encounter Cerberus. Trying to kill Eve, attempting to abduct the Grissom Academy students, activating the bomb on Tuchunka and the attempt on the Council.
When we finally confront them on Priority Citadel, they kill Thane and omni-slash their mask off. We get the reveal. Shepard is shocked, Ash/Kaidan hesitates after hearing Shepard utter their name.
It would also help to explain his inexplicable plot armor. Rather than surviving against the onslaught of Shepard due to plot reasons, he would not be killed, as Shepard is haunted by not being able to save them, Ash/Kaidan uses that as the opportunity to take him down on Thessia.
Because Ashley did not undergo her character arc, I could imagine Ashley saying things like "I should have been the First Human Spectre, a hero for humanity, not aliens." "I am the hero humanity deserves" "I will make my grandfather proud." "The Alliance has failed humanity and my family" If you romanced Ashley and accidentally left her behind "You BASTARD...I loved you and you LEFT ME TO DIE!"
With Kaidan I can see him saying things like "I am the peak of Biotic perfection." "The Alliance betrayed me. You left me and the Council deserves to die" "Vyrnaus deserved to die, I know that now." "You will pay for leaving me to die" If you didn't save Grissom Academy. "I personally went to Grissom Academy, took those kids and made them like me. Subject Zero never should have left us, now she is ascended to perfection."(if you got Jack's loyalty, Jack begs Shepard to kill her) If you romanced Kaidan and accidentally left him behind "You're just like Rahna. You left me and you betrayed me. After I kill you, I'll kill Rahna."
If we go with the Winter Soldier concept, then it's just TIM manipulating them like a puppet. However periodic exposure to Shepard and the other VS makes them remember
However, if you bring the other Virmire survivor with to Thessia, then there is a chance to turn Ash or Kaidan back to the light.
This works better if you romanced the other Virmire survivor, but if not it works the same result. You can only save Ash/Kaidan if you bring the other VS.
With a charm/intimidate option, Ash/Kaidan follows Shepard's lead and talks down Ash/Kaidan. and in the end they break through their indoctrination and apologize for everything.
Otherwise, they would have to be killed and could not be saved. I don’t think that convincing him to commit suicide like Saren or TIM would work, because it would be too similar to the TIM suicide not too long, and would lose impact because of it. They would have to be fought and killed one last time in combat, and have a tragic end with Ash/Kaidan cursing Shepard while Shepard looks on them with despair or disdain.
If you saved them, then Ash/Kaidan would board the Citadel with you. And when TIM tries to talk you into controlling the Reapers, Ash/Kaidan will shoot him dead.
If Winter Soldier scenario, then both Shepard and OVS can break through and save them. They join us and depending on your war assets, if high, they kill TIM without incident. If low, they sacrifice themselves and gives Shepard the opening to kill TIM.
We talk, have a moment. If it's Kaidan, they talk about the good old days with the original Normandy. Jenkins, Dr Chakwas and Anderson. "Oh Shepard, I'm so sorry" Shepard forgives them. If romanced, they talk about the relationship they were going to start and Shepard says "we can have a cup of coffee and see where things go from there" "I'd like that, Shepard". If Ashley, they reminisce on meeting on Eden Prime, the Normandy, their almost relationship with Shepard saying "we can finish where we left off" "Oh Shepard" and remembering why she volunteered to stay behind.
Alternatively since Ash/Kaidan wasn't shot, they save Shepard. They call the other survivor and rescue Shepard as the Crucible is about to be fired off if destroyed is chosen. If you choose Control, then Ash/Kaidan shoots themselves because they can't bare to live after Shepard fulfills TIM's desires. If Synthesis is chosen then they will be on the Normandy with the other crew members.

And Pt.2 of the Fallout-Delv-erse lore! Because honestly, I couldn't pick between soft lovable herbo, and murder hobo, so we're getting both.
D.31-A, rouge Courser jerk of the Commonwealth.
Follow on from Dee & Rolls
~
Lore:
[???] "Audio recording, date [REDACTED] between Doctor Langstrum, Senior Institute Bio Division, and myself [REDACTED] regarding project D.31-A"
[D] "Again, I am going on record to state that there was plenty of oversights on project D.31-A and-"
[???] "Please Doctor, let keep to the questions. How about we start with what D.31-A is, and it's history."
[D] "Hmmph ... Fine. -sigh-, well we may as well start at the beguining with the Synth Program. After the sucessful test run of our 3rd generation Synth in the Capital Wasteland passing undercover as human in 'Rivet City', full production of next gerneration syths were approved for masss production."
"And whilst the topic of Synths seemed focused on under-cover intigration, security was also a keen concern. Our second genration synths, though tough, were far from subtle, and a militerised third generation synth seemed nessasery. The goal was to create something with a bit more bite, a single agent, rather than dozens of gen-1's and 2's littering the commonwealth."
"D3.1-A was the answer to this, our first official prototype of the Courser's we know today."
[???] "Why was D.31's biodata used for the Courser program? And can you explain in detail why they were so well equipped for a prototype?"
[D] "Well, obviously, D.31's DNA proved to create a natural resistance to radiation, so it only made sense to base D.31-A on their genetic makeup and memories, as we had done with Gen-3 synths so far."
"As for their ... 'equipment', you must understand that in the early days of testing, D.31-A wasn't built like our truly synthetic Coursers. They were designed to combine the most physically powerful elements of our Gen-2s with the outer fleshy coating of a Gen-3. Machine, wrapped in flesh."
"At the time, we believed Courser's would be going toe-to-toe against Death Claws and super mutants, so we ... built them to durable, strong and-"
[???] "Exessivly costly?"
[D] "Effective. We built them to be effective. However, as time went by, we realised that less was more, and discreet agents worked more effectively than super-powered assassins."
[???] "Can you tell me what led to losing D.31-A in the field?"
[D] "... again, I want to stress the oversight wasn't just on myself or my team at the tim- ok ok, fine."
"After successfully activating D.31-A and testing them rigorously for months, we felt it was time for a field test in the Commonwealth. So we fitted her with an old raider outfit, had her infiltrate an encampment, and simply let her get to work."
"Needless to say, she was effective—almost ferocious, in fact, if you could call it that."
"But, unfortunately, during the fight, a nuclear device was launched, which knocked out our communication with the Synth handlers observing the experiment. After several hours, we deployed security teams and mercenaries to scout the location and report back. There was no sign of D.31-A ... or her handlers, whom we believed to have been killed by D.31-A"
[???] "What led you to believe it was D.31-A?"
[D] "The entire team had been torn apart and stapled to a concrete bunker with steal poles through their chests and their power systems removed. The working theory is that the blast may have ... damaged ... D.31-A's hardware and left them to go-"
[???] "On a five-year-long murderous rampage of Institute assets, including research centres, 23 mercenaries, 12 staff members on the field, and 18 Courses?"
[D] "... Look, it's been months since we've heard from her, and this speculation that she is helping the railroad is preposterous. It's more than likely that her power core has started to falter, and any information on the institute has been damaged in the process."
[???] "Which brings us to the point of this interview: to uncover the lack of oversight that led to a hostile agent that we cannot stop with information on our most sensitive security protocols. What makes you so sure that information has been destroyed?"
[D] "Because I built her [REDACTED] and if she still had access to our location, our relay, and our defences, we would have been dead a long time ago..."

Dirt Bike Town is a literary dystopia. A road trip. Part tribal fever dream. It’s autistic Mad Max with more heart. Blade Runner without the rain. Dope Wars took the roads. All that’s left are dirt bikes—and the people focused enough to ride them.
Romeo Void leads one of the last roaming tribes in what’s left of America. His twin brother, Mitya, is never far behind, and Hecuba—a pale, sharp-tongued pole dancer who cons men and burns bridges—does what she wants. Both brothers are married to her. The very definition of marriage and family have changed. Their world is a wrecked wasteland of drowned cities, toxic rivers, and the looming hellfire of the Yellowstone Caldera. And slavery.
They find the ruins of Fermilab, a decaying monument to what humans used to believe in: space, time, progress. What begins as a desperate escape turns into a shot at rebuilding. Culture. Meaning. Something more than just dirt, dust, and death.
This isn’t a story about dirt bikes. It’s about the human beings who ride them.

I think if Timmy/Kylie were to breakup then a lot of those fans who left the fandom wuld go back right back to him, regardless of any other problematic bahaviour Tims done 🤷♀️ some of those fans think that Kylie is the case as to why hes acting like this nt hes a grown ass man, dude will b 30 this yr, n hes responsible for his own behavior and who he surrounds his self with. I think studios r willing to give men who look like Timmy 100 chances, despite their fandom side. JE assaulted someone, dissed his previous project (a risk to his future employers/studios on how he may act if he dsnt like the outcome of his projects) and dsnt have a large fandom and is about to play a major role in a frankenstein movie, lead his own series this yr and has future projects lined up. Studios will almost always support these white men bcuz there will always b other white people (usually white women) who r willing to support them
You're right, Timmy's antics probably won't hurt his film career at all. He would have to do something superbly egregious in order to get what they call blacklisted in Hollywood, because right now, he's like Hollywood's Golden Child.
But I'm not too sure that if or WHEN Timmy dumps Kylie that his female fanbase will be running back.
For one, we as women aren't as forgiving when it comes to men behaving badly, and second, some of the things he's been doing lately have just been such a turn off, that I'm not sure his female fans would come back. 👀
One thing about us as women is that when we're really and truly done with you, we are DONE! 😅🤣
Or, at least that's how it is for us as Black women lol. When we are done, we are SO DONE! There is no coming back lol. 😄 I'm not sure about White women and other race women (feel free to chime in lol), but that's one thing about Black people... once we're done with you, we are DONE, you hear me? There is no coming back lol. 😂
And maybe, just maybe!... his team sees the writing on the wall, and the Anon who sent in her anon about Timmy possibly trying revamp his image and appeal more to men is spot on. 🤔
Maybe his team knows that him dating Kylie (and his other antics) have turned OFF his female fanbase, so now they've advised him to appeal more to the straight male demographic in order to close the gap and not risk a mass exodus of his fanbase, who primarily are women right now. 🤔 I never thought about that being a possibility until now.
Re: JE....
I'm still going to wait and see how his new projects pan out first before I make my predictions on him, but lbh, "Priscilla" didn't really get him much, and neither did "Saltburn", and with the assault allegations, he didn't even promote his newest film "On Swift Horses" or something. So I'm really not sure what his career will really be like.
All I know is that you're right, he's def been given more chances than what a moc who's in his same situation would be given.
Will Smith (who's had an impeccable and likable record and image for DECADES) was blacklisted for SLAPPING a man on national TV for making jokes about his wife. But yet, JE, who has NOT been nearly as likable, has not had near the fame, money, nor selling POWER that Will had for decades, is still being given roles and hasn't been blacklisted, even though, he nearly CHOKED a man to death over a simple bath water joke? 🤔 The same bath water that JE himself joked about on national TV on a late night TV show? 🥴
You see what I mean?
I'm not condoning what Will did, it WAS disrespectful, but let's get real here. The man has had an impeccable record most of his life, has always been positive, been upstanding, etc. Like, it's obvious that Will's actions were not coming from someone thinking with his right mind that night. Sometimes, stress can really get to you. I also heard that Chris had okayed the jokes for everyone else that night, but didn't okay the one with Jada for Will.
BOTH men did not press charges against the celebrities.... So why has Will (who's more famous and powerful) been blacklisted, but JE has not? 🤔 Aren't money, fame and power supposed to give you more leeway of getting away with things?
I don't think Will is innately a bad person, and since he doesn't seem to have a history of abuse, I will excuse his actions. I think he was just a man under a lot of stress... and he and Chris already had beef from years ago.
But to me, the way the media and the Academy has treated Will Smith vs JE is very different imo. I understand not allowing him to attend the Oscars for 2 years... heck, even 5 years. But 10 YEARS!? 😳 Also, who knows what his film career will be like after this. 🤷🏾♀️

Ache in Your Blood
Alex Kralie x GN!Reader
Last Edited: 04/04/2024
TW: blood, stalking, bodily harm, kidnapping, canon-typical violence, reader is technically dead, reader is not the good guy
Requested: no

Notes from @gvtted-ratz (writer/creator): We made it as vague as we could, but know that the reader’s build has Alex’s own in mind. When it says “you may be able to best him” etc., we mean that both him and the reader can be evenly matched, strength wise, although the rest of the reader's body is left up to interpretation. Another title is “Happy Birthday, Alex.”
Notes from @rppik (editor/co-writer): happy hunting!
You watch Alex from the shadows. He’s recording again, hoping to document the horrors you’ve all been through, although you were never included in this broken film project of his. You’ve been watching him from the very beginning, from the very moment Tim came into his life. The Operator followed Timothy, but you? Following his influence, you ended up going for someone else, someone who The Operator could benefit from.
The videos. The paranoia. The fear. The madness. All of it came from just one man who you have decided to watch and follow, just as The Operator has done with Tim and Jay. It’s not like that being, who has torn you apart just to remould you into what it thought would benefit it most to lure others, has any say in it. All it wants is pain, terror, and people’s life essence. You, on the other hand, want only him.
It’s hard not to when he has all that you lack. A real body, one that hasn’t been corrupted and tainted by The Operator. His life, despite it being pursued by your twisted creator. Lastly, his will to fight on. If you had any left, you’d put a stop to the thing that tore away your humanity.
You can tell Alex's intentions are good, or at least, were. You knew he was doing this to try and help his friends become free from The Operator. As more time passes, however, his actions have become warped as the sickness takes over. You know he cares for his friends, but being in constant proximity of The Operator changes people.
Likewise, you don’t remember making the mask on your face, the memories all but lost due to the scrambling of your being. However, deep in your fragmented mind, you can recall it being made some time before your untimely death at the hands of the eldritch horror. You had become obsessed with covering your face, plagued by the idea that it was horribly wrong. Now, the mask is your face. You rarely take it off after the events that led you to here, watching Alex.
He’s so loud, stomping through the foliage with that dingy camera of his. It has scrapes, bumps, and dirt all over the thing. If you hadn’t been keeping an eye on him this entire time, you would have thought the camcorder was just found at a junk sale, bought for a dime for the videos he takes. You can’t help but find it a little bit funny and maybe endearing.
Then again, those feelings of infatuation could just be another form of the obsessive tendencies that your past therapist talked to you about. The Operator’s influence on your mind likely isn't helping you form healthy connections to others, either. Regardless, you won’t be getting any answers from the doctor any more; you’re considered legally dead, after all.
Alex’s voice has grown a tad bit breathless from all the walking he's been doing; you see the exhaustion and tension within his posture. In his current state, you know you may be able to best him. You keep to your hidden spot, watching and waiting for him to get closer.
When he’s just about to pass you, you shoot up from your crouched position in the brush. The noises you create prompt the man to turn towards you entirely, trying to capture it all on film. You know the device doesn’t have a chance to actually catch your full figure, as you’re too close; not to mention, you’re actively tackling the man to the ground.
You can hear the air get knocked out of him as his back hits the ground, the camcorder falling into the weeds close by. In the next beat, you’re climbing on top, shoving and pushing away his flailing hands as he tries to fight back in a panicked manner.
You know that, in the past, Alex was never able to fight off the fear and pain your creator has caused him. So for him to experience this with you, some unknown attacker, you can only imagine it makes him feel even more helpless. You're sure it won’t be long before Alex is able to effectively defend himself again, however— This puts you on a very strict time limit to take advantage of his compromised state.
Your gloved hands reach for his throat, hoping to choke him out while he’s down. The punch to your mask puts that idea out of your head, however, as you feel your nose gush blood in response. The taste of copper only fuels you further, however, as the both of you try to incapacitate the other. You quickly realize you’ve underestimated his ability to recover from your initial attack, as he soon is able to sit back up. At this point, the both of you are using brute strength to try to best the other.
You smack him on the side of his ear, trying to disorient him enough to get the upper hand. You can hear his breathing grow ragged as he keeps fighting back. You’re forced to bite down on your tongue to keep from talking, not wanting to reveal your voice to him just yet, but in the conflict you bite into your tongue hard enough to draw blood– The force of his punch to your cheek nearly makes you bite the entire tip of your tongue off. A hiss of pain escapes you, but the sight of his lips and teeth stained red makes you smile a bit behind the plastic barrier over your face. You’re not sure if it’s the sight of his blood, or him being so close, but you can’t help but nearly whine at the sight of the man in this state.
In rapid succession, you aim a few blows to his face. He’s strong, but he's not as quick as you were recreated to be successful in these hunts for The Operator. While more blood is spilt, you don’t mind getting his blood on you, seeing it roll along his skin…. As he pauses, stunned by the rapid onslaught of pain, you’re able to slam him back down on his back. Unclenching your fists, you grasp his exposed throat in a death grip, staring down at your prize: His coughs sound wet from the blood flowing down into his mouth from his split lip, and one of his eyes is closed to keep the blood out from the split eyebrow.
As his struggling starts to die down, you lean close to him, your voice distorted from The Operator’s treatment of your body. “ ̸̳̍I̷̲̿ ̷̼̋a̷̮͂m̶̬̄ ̴͇͂t̵̫́h̵̲̀e̶̙͌ ̸̜̂a̴̼͋c̶̣͗h̸̰͘e̷͊ͅ ̶̲̐î̸̮n̸̋ͅ ̴͍̒ȳ̵͉õ̶̡u̷̺͠ŗ̴̿ ̵̬̏b̶̮̓l̶̲̽ȯ̵ͅo̷̤͗ď̴ͅ,̶͎̏ ̴̛̖K̴͙͊r̷̫͘a̸͎͘l̸̺̀i̸̠̊e̸̯̓.̸̛̟.” [1]
You continue to sit on top of his stomach, hands keeping his throat clasped tightly, as his consciousness starts to fade. Once his eye closes and his body goes lax, you let go. A loud sigh escapes you, the pain from your wounds finally registering. The buzz under your skin lets you know The Operator is near.
You’re quick to get to your feet and start grabbing the camcorder the man had dropped in the scuffle, turning it off and shoving it in his pant’s pocket; With this most precious item secured, you look Alex over with a hint of pride before squatting down to grab the unconscious man from under his arms. From there, you start to drag him. You know it’ll take a bit, but you have no doubt you can keep him subdued if need be.
With all this in mind, your eyes scan him over again. If one could see past the eyeholes in your mask, they’d see the sickness within them from the entity's control. Quietly, you mumble to your trophy’s form, “H̴̺̓a̶̙͑p̶̘͘p̶̟̊ȳ̶̩ ̸͖͘B̴̢͐i̷̘͘ṙ̵̡t̵̞̂h̸͔̎d̴͎͝ạ̴̛y̴̨͂,̶̣́ ̶̪́À̷̻l̴͚͠ê̴͈x̸̺̿.̴̱͑”. [2]

TOP 3 Metal Albums I Enjoyed from 2023
A lot of great metal came out this year and it was hard to narrow it down to my Top 3. There were some great EPs released this year— Spiritbox’s The Fear of Fear, Brand of Sacrifice’s Between Death and Dreams and Knosis’s The Eternal Doom among them. Singles I enjoyed include: "On the Verge" by thrown, “Masterpiece” by The Anchor, “Enemy” by The Gentle Men (ft. Andy Cizek), “Weight of the World” by Harper (ft. We Came as Romans and Brand of Sacrifice), “Viking” by Slaughter To Prevail, "III" by DEATHPHONK (Nik Nocturnal's weird project); and Knocked Loose had the double, “Deep In the Willow”/“Everything is Quiet Now”.
My Top 5 honourable mentions: 5. [m]other by Veil of Maya, their newest does everything I want it to do, good riffs, cool effects, great vocals; 4. Soul Elegy by Termina, Nik Nocturna, Andy Cizek and friends deliver an awesome metal album; 3. Chaos Horrific by Cannibal Corpse is a strong entry and shows why they're still so loved after so long; 2. The Fox and the Bird by Ok Goodnight mixes folk, rock, metal and whatever else they want to create this really entrancing album; and 1. Take Me Back to Eden by Sleep Token is one of the albums I listened to the most because it's easy to put on when you're tired of being relentlessly pummelled by deathcore, but though its highs are super high, it just misses out landing on my top 3 because there are a few spots it lags
3. ...And Everything In Between - Unprocessed
Manuel Gardner Fernandes has quickly become one of my favourite guitarists between this release and Unprocessed's previous album Gold. The combination of styles on this album exemplify modern metal: bludgeoning heaviness, thumpy prog riffing (à la Animals As Leaders or Polyphia) and a mix of harsh and clean vocals. Despite the polish of these 9 tracks, some express such raw emotion and a ferocity that they really get me hyped up. The variety of tones and vocals kept me engaged throughout, and they blend and balance heaviness and melody so well. The guitar sounds so angry sometimes–especially the part of "Thrash" where Manuel beats the shit outta his guitar after screaming, "But you're just a fucking lie!" I love that. Other songs like "Blackbone" and "Die on the Cross of the Martyr" continue the trend of excellent instrumentation, the latter featuring guest solos by Polyphia's Tim Henson and Scottie Lepage. It's so well done and so engaging. In the short time I've had this album, it's become one of my favourites of 2023.
2. Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre - Periphery
When Periphery released "Wildfire" as a single I immediately bought into what they were selling. The way they transition through the various parts is seamless, the mix of vocal techniques and the jazzy interlude are all fantastic. It really captures the spirit of the whole record. Songs like "Dying Star" and "Zagreus" are also so hard. Periphery continues to show off their musical dexterity, and the band members prove once again they're not only some of the best musicians djenting their way through the world but as a collective they add up to more than the sum of their parts. My hottest take when it comes to this album is that I love "Silhouette" — it's like if you ran 80s soft rock and 90s/00s boy bands through a progressive music filter. I think they wrote this song and put it on the album just to prove they can do anything. And if Periphery is Djent, and Djent isn't a genre then why shouldn't they go in every genre direction they want to explore?
1. War of Being - TesseracT
In other years this top 3 could have been entirely deathcore or melodeath or metalcore, but this year it was djenty prog metal through and through. It's the music I gravitated to the most this year and nobody did it better than TesseracT. Daniel Tompkins vocals are incredible throughout, his cleans sounding particularly great on "Echoes" – giving us one of the best choruses before following it up with another great one on "The Grey". The album offers engaging lyricism throughout and the instrumentation is at a pedigree one would expect for a band in the vanguard of this genre. The album gives us atmospheric moments, synths, meditative passages before blasting us with metal. In many ways the whole album does what the best tracks on Sleep Token's Take Me Back To Eden do. Each song and the album as a whole provide an expansive experience. And that's why it's my number one. More than any other album released this year, TesseracT's War of Being makes me want to sit down and listen to it from beginning to end.
Other great albums: SUPERBLOOM by Silent Planet; Fatalism by Polaris; Feral by Left To Suffer; Foregone by In Flames; Ashen by Humanity's Last Breath; The Sin of Human Frailty by END; Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish; and The Death We Seek by Currents.

I have a thought,
Tim is the embodiment of Gen Z and the reason why DC disrespect him a lot is because they saw the potential and how chaotic he could be because he's just so... How do say this, he had the most normal past (as normal as any Gotham kids could get and being a nepo baby) compare to others who had tragic back story.
Tim tragic back story didn't start until he take the Robin mantel, so I think DC is scared of Tim's potential especially with his mentality that is so flexible. Like, this boy is labeled as the coffee addict-sleep deprived-tech guy-that has too much money-too much work-and could drop dead anytime, just like gen Z (except the money part).
Then the chart just made me think of it even more! Tim is literally us as gen Z but he has money, training and no adult supervision! The intelligence is debatable cuz I think he usually has the brain cells but most of the time lost it, he can be as harmless as he is apocalyptic danger level all just because he felt like it. He's mostly harmless cuz he lacks motivation.
Like imagine! (He has so many war crimes I wanted to add more so he can have a special folder with more folders inside dedicated for one war crime saperated based on timeline, planet and dimension)
Tim : Feeling bored, might piss off Luther later cuz his life is too peaceful rn
*proceeds to take over the economic world and become a shadow emperor and open up charities just because*
Also Tim
Tim : Feeling a bit feral and kinda want to have a historical vibe today
*save planets and became emperor of several planets and he rules it really well to the point he has religion that worship him*
Then he's also
Tim : This family (Waynes) is so fucked up, they need help fr fr
*blackmail Batman after he failed to blackmail Nightwing, become a therapist cuz he can't fix his family so fix others*
Near death experience? You wish!
Tim : oh, look it's Jason in- is that a cheap Robin costume?! Ew!!
*got beaten cuz he's too busy thinking about something else instead of focusing in the fight, plus he saw the kid he sort of replaced still alive -a bit murdery- but alive which is good news for his 'fixing Wayne family project'!*
Tim in his depressed and apathic era
Tim : Hm... He said no killing but is it killing if I gave them warning but they choose to ignore me and got caught up in the explosion? No, no it's not. *shrug* Good enough.
*proceeds to bomb Ra's bases and make the creepy immortal rat man loses hair and gain gray hairs at the same time*
Near death experience number unknown? Nah~
Tim : oh wow, I manage to finished all of the assignments and mission right on time! Damn, this is a record! Oh, look at that, the sky looked so clear! Too bad we can't see starts in Gotham, welp, not a bad day to sleep! I can finally sleep!
*sigh out in disappointment when He got caught and land safely on the ground, mourning the sleep he'll never get*
His response is always so relatable and mood to the point I need gen Z artist or something to get inside DC and just let out your chaotic-idgaf-feral-racoon-self so Tim can just be his true self and grow into his potential! I need to see him in his more chaotic nature with flexible moral because dang, he's just so US sometimes.
Or is it just me? Honestly, I saw this post on Pinterest and immediately went to search the original post on timblr -pun intended- just so I can let this out of my head.
Alright, thank your for coming to my Ted talk. Scatter!
i find the dischotomy between the batfam's potential to kill vs their real-world willingness to kill very interesting! so I made a graph because I'm a nerd

Chapter 1: Introduction
Chapter Text
We all grew up on the voice of a generation, Eimear O'Rourke, playing on the radio. She was the It-Girl of the 70's, no doubt about it. Everyone knew the story of how the Weavers of Fate were founded at an open-mic session in a grimy London bar, when then-frontman Tim Lewis walked out after an altercation, and drummer Sandie Stevens asked her to join the lineup right before they hit the stage. And the rest was history. The name of the pub has never been disclosed by the band, and there are at least five who claim to be the "Birthplace of The Weavers".
The Weavers, as they became affectionately known as, -not to be confused with the American folk quartet of the same name- quickly rose to one of the greatest rock bands in history. Their unique sound was, and still is something completely original. Gibson released a line of electric guitars fashioned after lead guitarist, Raymond Silver's modified les paul, but they still cannot compare to his hand-crafted pickups, and the unusual tone they created. Despite her youth, Eimear managed to write extraordinarily wise, profound and meaningful lyrics, laden with metaphors and double meanings, so that each song strikes home harder every time you listen to it. The vocals, sung by O'Rouke and Silver make for beautiful harmonies, and magnetic duets paired with memorable and dramatic basslines, and the haunting sound of the pair's guitars.
Their debut album, Notions, was an instant success, as Weavers of Fate had already generated a substantial following before their signing to Island Records in 1969. At just 16 years of age, O'Rouke was thrown into the world of touring, and all that comes with it.
The rumors of a relationship between herself and Silver seemed to follow the band everywhere they went. Press went as far as to sneak backstage as crew members in order to gather insider gossip on the pair. Most believe the stress was the cause of Raymond's alcoholism, which he struggled with throughout his career.
Weavers went on to release 4 more studio albums, and 6 live albums before Eimear O'Rouke's death in 1980. She was 27 years of age. Very little is known about what happened leading up to her demise, some speculate that she was murdered, others stating it was a typical case of drug abuse. In this biography, I hope to shed some light on what really happened, whilst remaining loyal to the memory of a true legend.

In conjunction with @silvermoon424’s new project to scan and archive Mitsukazu Mihara’s 6-volume manga series Dolls: IC in a Doll, here is a copy of an interview Mihara gave in 2006 with Manga Magazine at Otakon, recorded here by Tokyopop!

What a Doll! An Interview with Mitsukazu Mihara
(On the left-hand side):
Goth Loli goddess Mitzukazu Mihara has garnered an impressive level of fan devotion in Japan, largely due to the intricate and inspired Gothic Lolita fashions worn by her characters.
A master of the manga short story, Mihara-sensei began her career as an illustrator, gaining recognition and acclaim for her distinct illustrations in the Gothic Lolita Bible. Going on to create such noteworthy titles as Happy Family and IC in a Sunflower, Mihara-sensei took storytelling to a new level with Doll, a six-volume anthology series about a world where humankind coexists with an intelligent race of androids called “dolls”.
Gothic Lolita enthusiasts and sci-fi lovers - Mitsukazu Mihara fans are passionate, dedicated and intelligent. And with the release of Mihara-sensei's Beautiful People in February and Haunted House and R.I.P.: Requiem in Phonybrain in the fall, they're about to grow significantly in number. Get on board while you still can.
Manga magazine sat down with Mihara-sensei at the Otakon convention in Baltimore, where she discussed fashion, fandom and some of her surprising influences.
-Tim Beedle
(At the bottom:)
MIHARA-SENSATIONAL: FIVE FLAWLESS FABLES
New to the work of Mitsukazu Mihara? For those looking to sample the best of the best, we offer a few suggestions.
"A Maid Servant" (Doll, Vol. 1) When Tokiko's fiancé leaves her for another woman, Tokiko assumes it's because she's ugly. But when someone starts defacing Tokiko's doll, we soon learn that ugliness has many forms.
"Beautiful People" (Beautiful People) Telling the tale of Mimi, a strong-willed woman who achieves beauty through plastic surgery, Mihara-sensei reveals where the true beauty lies, while serving up some of her most intriguing character design work to boot.
"Grave" (Doll, Vol. 4) Mihara-sensei gave life to the dolls, but in this story, she gives them death. "Grave" takes us to the SG Corporation's press room, where retired or illegally remodelled dolls are scrapped. A fascinating look at mortality, "Grave" is chilling...and life-affirming.
"Haunted House" (Haunted House) A very black comedy. "Haunted House" tells the story of Sabato, a hapless teenager whose attempts at romance are continually ruined by his outrageous family. Boasts detailed gothic art and plenty of dark humor.
"Home" (Doll, Vol. 6) An emotional story that serves as a denouement for the entire Doll series, "Home" is only fully appreciated when read after the stories that preceded it.
(In the center:)
Manga: Welcome to Otakon, Mihara-sensei! Is this your first time in the United States? Mitsukazu Mihara: Not only is it my first time in the United States, it's my first time traveling abroad. I'm having the best time!
Manga: What are you impressions of Otakon? Mitsukazu Mihara: I love it. All of these amazing cosplayers - I could sit and watch them all day long. This is something you just don't see in Japan!
Manga: In Japan, the vast majority of your fans are Gothic Lolita devotees. What attracted you to Gothic Lolita fashion? Mitsukazu Mihara: I just love the spirit of Gothic Lolita culture. When I first started drawing manga, Gothic Lolita was just taking off and I wanted to incorporate the trend. I think we've grown together. Actually, though, my first works were not Gothic Lolita - they were inspired more by punk.
Manga: Let's back up a bit. How did you begin your career as a manga-ka? Mitsukazu Mihara: When I was first starting off, I was very much inspired by the work of Yumi Tada (Yukikaze, Ludlow Garage, Sitting in the Balcony). I actually became her assistant. While working for her, I was scouted and asked to enter my work in an amateur manga competition and was very surprised when I learned that I won! I then went on to submit my work to Shodensha, who accepted it. I've been extremely lucky in my career.
Manga: Other than Yumi Tada, who are some of your influences? Mitsukazu Mihara: Kazuo Umezu (Orochi, Scary Books) and Junko Mizuno (Hansel & Gretel, Pure Trance). I also really love Tim Burton.
Manga: Really? He's an influence? Mitsukazu Mihara: Oh yes! He's my biggest. Edward Scissorhands is my favorite film of his. I find the way he balances dark themes with humor and heart to be inspiring. And I can't wait to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Corpse Bride!
Manga: What about the science fiction aspect in many of your books? Your stories in Doll and Beautiful People remind me of the work of Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury. Are you a fan? Mitsukazu Mihara: I'm a very big fan of science fiction. Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies. I'm also a fan of Asimov's robot books. In fact, the dolls in Doll actually follow the Three Laws of Robotics, even though it's never explicitly stated.
Manga: Let's talk about Doll for a moment. Aside from being a great piece of science fiction, there are a lot of social and psychological issues brought up by it. Did you intend for it to make so many statements? Mitsukazu Mihara: Yes, there were many issues I wanted to write about. Domestic violence, for one, remains a problem in Japan, and I felt Doll could be a good place to address it.

(Off to the left:)
Doll is fearless in its subject matter, tackling controversial issues such as spousal abuse, gender inequality, bulimia and sexual objectification.
(Center, continuing from previous page:)
Mitsukazu Mihara: However, it was never intended to be at the sacrifice of the story. Telling a good story comes first.
Manga: Your stories often cross into the fantastic or surreal, but the characters and their emotions always feel real and relatable. How do you pull this off? Mitsukazu Mihara: I take my inspiration from my own life and I only write about what I know. Now, I'll often take familiar things and exaggerate them for effect, but I have to stick to what I'm familiar with. For me to do it any other way would weaken the story.
Manga: How does Gothic Lolita fit into it? Mitsukazu Mihara: In Doll, Gothic Lolita fashion symbolizes eternal beauty. The perfect Ghotic Lolita never ages - she remains young. It's as if she's not human, but a machine - or a doll.
Manga: Do you have a favorite character in Doll? Mitsukazu Mihara: I like Ichiro, the Remodeler. Of all the characters, he's the most I like.
Manga: What has your experience been like working with an American entertainment company, as opposed to a Japanese company? Mitsukazu Mihara: It's actually easier to work with TOKYOPOP than with Japanese companies. Most publishers are not as concerned with quality, but TOKYOPOP pays extra attention to keeping the integrity of my work. I am extremely happy.
Manga: What are you working on now? Mitsukazu Mihara: I have a couple of projects I'm working on: Doku Hime and Shigeshoshi.
Manga: Do you have a message for your fans in America? Mitsukazu Mihara: Thank you for all your support! I'm so pleasantly surprised and grateful that the American fans "get it" despite all of the cultural differences! The fact that Gothic Lolita is so popular here in the States pleases me very much!

Andrew Eldritch for Bravo Magazine, 1992
Concerts are a horror for him! Eng translation under cut:
Bravo Talk Show: Stars One-on-One
Andrew Eldritch – Sisters of Mercy; Live concerts are a horror for me!
BRAVO: Do you actually never take your black sunglasses off? Andrew: Only when I go to sleep, otherwise never. My eyes have become very light sensitive because I’ve run around with lenses for several years. Daylight bothers me.
BRAVO: How’s your band, Sisters of Mercy? Andrew: I hardly know if it still is one. I’m still there, anyway. So sometime there will be something new from the Sisters of Mercy. Andreas (Bruhn) is doing a solo thing in Frankfurt. Tim (Bricheno) also has new ideas in mind. The last time we spoke with each other, he said to me that he doesn’t want to work with melodies anymore. I don’t know how that should work, in any case it won’t with the Sisters. I have no idea whether Tim has got something going for himself. I’m tense. Tony (James) hasn’t been around for a while. He’s not left the music business. As far as I know he develops ideas for new TV shows. At the festival shows this summer Andreas, Tim, and I stood at the front. In the second row we had two girls who played bass and took care of the computer.
BRAVO: What are you doing next? Andrew: I absolutely want to make a new record.
BRAVO: In the style of “Vision Thing,” your latest release? Andrew: Not necessarily. First we’ll see what Andreas and Tim will do. I’ll make what I like. But of course the songs will have melodies. Melody is essential. A groove alone or just with fancy sounds – that’s not enough for me. My ideal is that all three elements come together.
BRAVO: Has Andreas truly left? Andrew: I already think that he’s long gone with his new projects, at least in thought.
BRAVO: Is he a friend of yours? Do you feel like you’ve been left in the dust? Andrew: Not a very close friend. Andreas is much younger, born and raised totally different than me. We can work well together musically. But worlds lay between us. Culture shock! I hired Andreas because he’s a technical ace. At the beginning I really wasn’t interested in how philosophical he was about it. Thought that I could teach him to become a true Sister. But that’s harder than you think.
BRAVO: Why? What does your Sisters- and life-philosophy look like? Andrew: That, you can really only imply. I have two mottos: Entertainment or Death, and Truth, Justice, and a Damn Good Time. I’m radical. I want someone to be completely and utterly devoted to their cause. And the people just never do that. We never sit in the tour bus together and ask each other, what do you think about this or that topic. You sense for yourself whether you fit with someone or not. And you hear that also eventually in the music. Anyway, I also got off the bus and drove with the crew, because I just couldn’t listen to the endless shitty disco music and stupid jokes anymore.
BRAVO: What’s it like with the crew? Andrew: Continual party. But a different, difficult party. And I’ve known the boys for twelve years already, if I’ve added it up right.
BRAVO: Do you guys drink and smoke? Andrew: There’ll be partying. I love that about the tour. The only thing that bothers me terribly are the concerts every evening.
BRAVO: Do you suffer from stage fright? Andrew: Yeah, I always find performances embarrassing and brutishly stressful. I always have extra fog on the stage so that I can hide myself. Regardless, a gig is a royal pain.
BRAVO: Is it only the beginning that’s bad for you or the whole concert? Andrew: The whole concert is a horror. It’s like a rollercoaster. Sometimes you somehow have fun, but the terror always sets in again. And I’d like in the future to not willingly expose myself to such terror.
BRAVO: Will the Sisters not go live again, then? Andrew: I wouldn’t say that for sure. But I would love the most to only hide in the studio and make records. That’s my thing, I’m good at that. Naturally there’s also pleasant phenomena on tour, the parties, the girls etc. But that’s all just minor stuff. Giving interviews, taking photos, I find all that unimportant. There are other people who live precisely for these minor things and leave the music for others to make, who are better at it. That’s legitimate, just not really my thing.
BRAVO: Do you have a method, then, to get by during the concert? Andrew: Yes, before and during the show there’ll be hard partying. If it was really bad I’ll also party afterwards.
BRAVO: Was the sampler “Some Girls Wander By Mistake” a makeshift solution because you hadn’t managed in time to newly organize the Sisters? Andrew: No, it’s my personal way of coping with the past. All my earliest recordings are in there. Embarrassing stuff, so bad, that I have simply have to shame myself for it. These things were only available as tapes and old single records, for which the fans had to pay ridiculous prices for on the black market. I find, if they really want to listen to that crap, then they shouldn’t do it for overly expensive prices. Besides I have the feeling that by owning up to my past, it’ll defuse the bomb in my cellar.
BRAVO: Are you looking to hire a drummer? Andrew: No, why? There’s no reason to.
BRAVO: Do you have something against them? Andrew: Well, I’ll say it like this: In principle I really have nothing against drummers, it’s only that once you get to know them, they’re each and all jerks.
BRAVO: Musically speaking? Andrew: No, unfortunately they’re schmucks in every respect. They’re bitchy and a little off. They make noise, they must always beat around on their drum set, talk about stupid things and never shut up. They always need too much junk and always forget something and steal like ravens – just inhuman, not worth mentioning. And musically they really don’t bring anything. If you’ve never had a drummer, you’re not missing much.
BRAVO: And are you rather an easy partner in a band? Andrew: You mean musically? BRAVO: Yes, musically and personally… Andrew: I don’t see any reason why it should be difficult to work with me. I know precisely what I want, I’m totally clear. There’s no doubt about my ideas.
BRAVO: And will these ideas of yours make it through to the end? Andrew: Nah, maybe not. But I do my best. Musically I work on a very instinctive level. And I think my instincts have yet only rarely led me in the wrong direction.
BRAVO: How you do compose? Andrew: With a computer. I can’t play the piano. But I can quickly input anything I want In a sequencer program. I really don’t have to hear a piece in order to know how it sounds. It’s enough if I can see the arrangement on the screen. The ideas come to me mostly in the bar. Then I have to, though extreme concentration and timeliness, get home before the song in my head flies off again. How cool is it to work with a computer, I learned how in 1987 with the recordings on the Sisters album “Floodland.” The piece was actually the whole solo album. My partner at the time, Patricia Morrison, often had creative blocks. She didn’t provide song ideas, nor could I move her to take her bass in hand. On “Floodland” there’s a solo piano piece called “Neverland.” I programmed that from the first to last note on the computer, without even touching a piano key.
BRAVO: Can you play the guitar? Andrew: Only in the studio. Since in the first place I can only play while sitting, and second I can’t sing and play at the same time.
BRAVO: Why did you even add yourself to a band again? (Note: Warum hast du dir überhaupt wieder eine Band zugelegt?; I’m not sure if I’m missing something but I can’t get this to sound right) Andrew: The piece that I tinkered on with Andreas sounds simple afterwards. Moreover he said to me, if I had a band and could go on tours, I could budget better. That turned out to be absolute nonsense. With the world tour, which cost me a whole year, I’ve paid it out of pocket.
BRAVO: Are you in trouble? Andrew: Not really, but I’m also not far away from it. It’s annoying that I sold quite a few records, but don’t stand anywhere better financially than in the beginning. In the future I’ll pass out the records by myself and rid myself of the services of managers.

Tim is using his stalker Bat tendencies to be kind.
He knew Damian was working on an art project and was searching for Batfamily reference photos online. But he also knew Damien wasn't finding any good photos.
He had to have been stalking Damian's search history, and paying close enough attention to know what kind of art project Damian was working on.
Damian is careful with the photos, especially when he comes to understand the care and skill needed to take such candid shots and have them turn out well. When selecting photos for references he's careful to keep track of what box and what position they were in chronologically.
Drake had entrusted the equivalent of Damian's sketchbooks to him. And these photos are a record of their family that exists nowhere else. If Damian fails to treat them with the respect they deserve, he suspects Drake will never entrust him with anything again. And he would like to see more of these photos in the future, not that he would admit it to Drake.
But the boxes from the time after Todd's death, full of a lone Batman and a lone Nightwing, are cutting and disquieting to look upon. The grief and anger is writ into the lines of their bodies. Their movement mid-fight is blunt and ugly in a way he finds hard to define. This is not the Father he knows. This is not the Richard he understands.
He cannot bring himself to look through them more closely. So he sets the boxes from that time aside.
But it irks him that there are no photos of Red Robin. Surely someone else took photos of him at some point? Perhaps Richard has some.
The next time he heard Richard's voice outside his art room he pulled the door open to discover Richard and Todd in the hallway. Todd had studied Drake when he'd been planning his revenge. Perhaps he had some photos in an old file still.
But perhaps he had miscalculated by asking. Because now both of them were in his art room being nuisances. He had to keep scolding them to keep the photos in proper order.
Apparently Drake had neglected to show anyone else this photo record. Damian had thought that surely he would have shared his work proudly with Richard, at least. But from his delighted squeals, it seems Richard had never seen these before.
Damian had been so busy making sure Richard didn't make a mess, he failed to notice that Jason had picked up that dreaded box off to the side on a desk. By the time they had realized Jason was being too quiet for too long, it was too late to prevent things.
Jason looked oddly pale as he stared down at the photos in his hands. His expression was strange, twisted in confusion, yet he looked ill, as if he might be sick at any moment. It seems Damian wasn't the only one who was disturbed by those photos.
"Little Wing?" Richard asked in hesitant concern.
"...what-" Todd's voice was strange and constricted as he broke off. He swallowed thickly before continuing, "What is this?" Todd lifted his gaze from the photos to fix his gaze on Damian instead. Were his fingers trembling, or was he just shifting his grip on the photos?
Damian wanted to paint some of the Gotham heroes but all the online references are blurry. He's found maybe two ok photos but not enough. until a box is left on his desk FILLED with hundreds of clear candid photos of the family. There are ones with Red Hood and Batman, Nightwing and Robin, Black Bat and Spoiler, every combination of the heroes but oddly enough none of the photos have Drake in them.
#my writing additions#I wondered how Jason would react on seeing photos of how badly Bruce and Dick were wounded by his death#how would Jason react on seeing photos of him as Robin with a Batdad Bruce?#He probably doesn't remember the good times much or refuses to let himself think about it#batman#batfam#bruce wayne#tim drake#jason todd#damian wayne#Tim the photographer

Concept: Sorbet + Gelato Stands
(Inspirations:
"House of Leaves" book by Mark Z Danielewski
"Curve" short film by Tim Egan
"Skinamarink" film by Kyle Edward Ball)
Stand names:
Gelato: Disposition
Sorbet: Reflection
Combined name: Triad
(all three songs by the band TOOL that are not only next to each other on the album but bleed into one another and are therefore usually listened to in succession rather than individually)
Their Stands are just about powerless individually, but they combine into one Stand.
Disposition manipulates matter into nonsensical architecture (i.e. windows and doors with nothing on the other side, stairs leading nowhere, hallways that continuously stretch into infinity). These structures begin with a threshold such as an ordinary room or a closet. But once the victim is within the threshold, the structure continuously changes at varying degrees and speeds, not visible to anyone outside of the threshold.
Reflection creates a substance that swallows all light, causing impenetrable darkness. Even halogen lamps inside this darkness can't illuminate beyond a few inches in front of the lamps. Victims can only navigate the darkness by touch and movement, and even then, Reflection consumes not only light, but matter and space.
Combined into Triad, an illogical void that destroys hope. Victims unknowingly enter the structure and are cast into ever-changing, growing and shrinking nothingness. Triad's space has arctic temperatures, but the cold is dull and comes on unnoticeably slow.
When Gelato and Sorbet have decided they're done tormenting their prey, Triad, from the outside, collapses in on itself until it disappears. The victim on the inside either experiences this as the structure slowly closing in on them, death by hypothermia, or the complete darkness and silence eating their last grip on awareness of their very existence.
If an enemy of Passione has gone utterly missing with not a shred of DNA left behind -- seemingly swallowed into oblivion -- it was probably Sorbet and Gelato's work.
There is supposedly existing footage taken by a victim who managed to bring a camera into Triad's abyss; a victim who was being tortured by the pair for months on end, and who had left the camera outside of Triad's threshold before the final instance of Triad exiling them out of existence. Even scientists who see the footage usually dismiss it as a pretentious art project wherein the filmmaker left the lens cap on for most of the recording.
Disposition, Reflection, and Triad do not have corporeal forms. However, victims consumed by Triad's void can sometimes hear a terrible groaning somewhere in its impossible tunnels. While it sounds like the roars of a monster to some, others think its the sound of the architecture transforming.
Sorbet and Gelato don't have to be anywhere near Triad for the structure to exist, but they do have to be within range for the victim to enter or exit it.
Any number of Triad's structures can exist at once. The pair can have multiple victims in different locations, and can simply abandon them in these spaces until said victims die of starvation.
The only reason Sorbet and Gelato were successfully murdered despite the strength of their Stand was because Doppio (ordered by Diavolo to murder them -- much to Doppio's dismay since the pair had always been so nice to him) could use King Crimson's foresight ability to avoid being trapped. Although Doppio never showed his face the whole time he took out the execution, no one in Passione who knows Doppio has ever seen his Stand or what it can do. Doppio had only been known to use solid weapons.
Similarly, Gelato and Sorbet like to use solid weapons (particularly explosives, which they were efficient with), and no one in Passione who stays on their good side has seen their Stand in action. Otherwise, the two are known to threaten fellow Passione mafiosi by trapping them, for varying amounts of time depending on how badly they've been insulted.
Most who experience Triad and live to tell are noticeably terrified afterwards, and some develop intense fear of the dark, nightmares, paranoia, and claustrophobia; making a bold note to themselves never to cross those two again.

Stitching
Spencer Reid x Reader (female)
A/N- Much like Adam Driver, I have been a huge fan of Matthew Gray Gubler and criminal minds for years. With quarantine, I decided to re-watch the show from the beginning and I had some inspiration. My writing tends to take a while but if you have any requests or idea for Spencer Reid, please send them my way.
Word Count- 6286 words
Warning- Angst, mentions of violence and torture, fluff, tears, and the usual criminal minds details.
If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge? -William Shakespeare.
QUANTICO, VIRGINIA
“Good morning my lover and friends. As of 8:45 am, yesterday morning, four bodies have been found across the Washington State area. Locations confirmed to be Pomeroy, Baker City, Salem, and Mill Creek. All victims were very similar in physical appearance; Caucasian, red hair, brown eyes, approximately 5ft 4’.”
Garcia swiped her tablet to display family photographs of the victims on the screen. The team watched, in the debriefing room, as they scanned through their own tablets; reading through the details. Spencer’s eyes flittered over the images as his fingers scanned across the words in his paper file; still adamant on not working with technology like the rest of his team.
“What about the cause of death? How were they found?”
Garcia shivered at Rossi’s question.
“It’s not a pretty image. Each victim was dismembered at the elbows, knees, neck, and stomach. Further cuts were made vertically down the stomach and across the face, arms, and legs. Not deep enough to cut through bone, but deep enough to bleed out. Where the unsub cut our victims, he then sewed them back together.”
Emily looked up at Garcia.
“Are you saying the lacerations were made before the victim’s died?”
“Precisely. Each autopsy report came back the same with the cause of death pointing to the direction of blood loss; specifically, from the throat.”
The team looked at the new images before them. Multiple pictures appeared on the screen, showing the bodies of the victims. The pictures showing the women laid out in the same pose, thick thread holding together the pieces of their corpses. All had their eyes closed, except one.
“Garcia, the last victim, zoom into her face.”
Garcia did as Spencer asked.
“Her eyes are closed.”
Spencer nodded, glancing towards JJ as she spoke.
“Meaning that he felt remorse for this murder.”
Derek scrolled through the pictures on his tablet.
“The other three victim’s eyes are open, indicating that he wanted them to look. To watch what he was doing, whatever it may have been.”
Spencer looked across the table at the questioning faces.
“So, what changed between the third and the fourth victim?”
Hotch stood from his seat, indicating the others to grab their belonging.
“We can discuss further on jet. Wheels up in thirty.”
WASHINGTON STATE
Being greeted by the local police department in Clagstone, Spencer and the team began their investigation into the murders. Spencer did not know what it was, but the stitching on the bodies felt familiar. Like he had seen them before.
Looking up from his files, Spencer watched as Derek walked into the room, ending a call with who he could only presume to be Garcia.
“Garcia has just completed background checks on our latest victim. Lily Trent visited local film screenings at the Southview Centre religiously, to watch horror movies in particular. Seems like the girl loved anything horror and Halloween; according to her roommate and her computer history. It seems that are other victims did also.”
Spencer stood from his seat and walked towards the whiteboard at the back of the room. Writing down the details Derek stated, his brain began to filter through the relevant information needed.
“Halloween is ranked the ninth most celebrated holiday in the world. With different interpretations of the holiday occurring according to country and culture. Wearing costumes at Halloween did not even become an occurrence until 1585, with the first instance recorded in Scotland.”
Derek chuckled at Reid’s excitement. He knew the boy loved Halloween.
“Well it all looks like they were pretty huge fans of the holiday and horror films. Maybe our unsub was too.”
Spencer looked down at the photos in his hand, scanning his memory for any correlation.
“Maybe, it’s not just horror, but a particular film. If all the victims were presented in a certain way, maybe the unsub is trying to replicate what happened to a character in a particular film.”
Derek crossed his arms over his chest.
“I’ll call Garcia to search through all the victims search history to see if any particular horror films come up in each one. Do you know of any films that the unsub could have replicated?”
Spencer shook his head.
“I can collate his actions to hundreds of films but, the method of torture and look of the victims, I can’t think of one horror feature that pinpoints all that the unsub has done.”
A thought unexpectedly popped into Spencer’s mind. Derek cocked his head at the sudden halt from the resident genius.
“But I know someone who might.”
UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON
“The importance of genre in film alters many of the other aspects. The characters and their narrative arcs, the music score, cinematography, the edit, and so much more. Sometimes genre even dictates the director who signs onto the project. Dennis Dugan would not have a directing career if Adam Sandler stopped making comedy movies. Because that is what he directs. He doesn’t direct comedies; he directs Adam Sandler comedies. Which, in my opinion, are a whole genre on their own.”
The class chuckled.
“Genre plays a part in everyday life. Sometimes, your day will be led by romance, or grief, or action. There may be drama, or comedy, or even silence.”
The class looked on in concentration as Y/N walked across the floor. If someone who did not attend the college walked past the classroom, they could’ve presumed that she was a student. She looked young enough.
“It controls the way the characters talk, act, and move. How the plot thickens and pushes forward and…”
The doors at the back of the auditorium opened. Y/N looked up at the sound of the intrusion to see figures that she could not recognise, and one that she did.
Clearing her throat, she continued.
“And how it even ends. We shall leave it at that today. What I want you to do in the meantime is research a genre in particular and come up with examples that counteract the stereotypes that have been enforced upon the genre itself. Hand it in to your professor first thing Monday morning. Thank you.”
Y/N watched as the students collected their things and filtered out of the room. The figures waiting till she was only left before they walked down the steps.
Coming to a stop in front of her desk, Y/N crossed her arms and waited. Spencer stepped forward with a crooked smile on his face.
“Hi Y/N.”
Y/N couldn’t help but giggle.
“Long time no see stranger.”
Spencer’s cheeks burned at Y/N’s words. The team shared looks between them at the unfamiliar display. They had seen Spencer blush at people before, but not for a long time.
Spencer cleared his throat, preparing himself to act professional.
“This is Dr Y/F/N Y/L/N. Y/N travels across the country to guest speak at different universities on her topic at hand. She specialises in film studies, more importantly the focus of characters and genres. If I can’t connect the unsub’s actions to a film, Y/N most definitely can.”
Y/N smiled at Spencer’s praise.
“Nice to meet you all. So, what are you here to talk to me about Doc? Obviously, you’re here on a case and if you are asking for my help, I’m guessing it’s going to be pretty gruesome.”
Spencer blushed at the nickname; caught off guard by the word slipping of her tongue.
Sending a raised look towards Reid, Hotch began to explain why they were there.
“Were looking into a case of connected murders. All victims were found to have been mutilated and tortured in the same way. As well as showing resemblances in their physical appearances. With research, we’ve found that each victim was particularly fond of horror films and Halloween. We would just like for you to take a look and see if you could recognise if the ways in which they were harmed stemmed from a film in particular.”
Y/N nodded her head.
“Of course, anything to help.”
She reached for the files from Spencer’s hands, ignoring the tablet pushed in her direction by JJ.
“Sorry, I prefer to use paper. I only really use technology for my lectures or to watch films if they cannot be purchased in physical form.”
Derek smirked, shooting looks to his team, as his eyes landed on Spencer. He never thought he would meet a technophobe like Reid.
Y/N scanned through the pictures and documents, looking in detail at the lacerations at hand. She identified the similarities between the victims, as her mind swirled through the images and characters from the films, she knew held similarities.
“What were the names of all the victims?”
Emily looked towards the woman.
“That information is classified.”
Y/N did not blink at her abrasiveness.
“Were any of them called Sally?”
The team looked perplexed at her question.
“No. Why that name in particular?”
Y/N continued to scan the pages as Rossi questioned her.
“Because the unsub isn’t replicating anything from a horror movie. The unsub is replicating the physical appearance and staging of a character from an animated movie. A Disney one to be more specific.”
A light bulb flickered in Spencer’s mind as he stared at Y/N in realisation. The hair colours. The stitches. It made sense now.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT
“The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 American stop-motion animated musical Halloween-Christmas fantasy film directed by Henry Selick and produced and conceived by Tim Burton. It became a cult classic during the early 2000s with orchestral concerts occurring every year to celebrate the spectacle of the film.”
Spencer indicated for JJ to change the monitor as he and Y/N stood in front of the team to explain the information.
“Originally, the story began as a poem written by Tim Burton. Both narratives follow the protagonist, Jack Skellington, into his journey to Christmastown, and how he tries to make Christmas his own. The character in question that your unsub is replicating is the love interest of our protagonist. Created by Dr Finkelstein, Sally is a ragdoll-esque character whose body is covered with stitches to keep her together. The form in which all the women were found is identical to this scene in the movie.”
The screen changes to show the scene in question; paused at the precise moment to prover her point.
“All red haired, all Caucasian, all eerily the same. The stitches are exactly the same and the pose in which they are in the pictures are also.”
“We now know which film our unsub is mimicking, but how can we produce a distinguished profile of our unsub? All we can say is that between his third and fourth victim, he suddenly began to feel remorseful of his crimes.”
Y/N looked towards Spencer, waiting for him to speak as he knew more details about the case.
“Garcia checked into the victim’s computer histories and found that all four victims attended a horror convention in the Washington state area over the course of the past month. The convention in particular runs every other weekend, focusing on different horror films to highlight. However, they always make an exception for one film; The Nightmare Before Christmas. Whilst reviewing receipts for the tickets, they were all brought through the convention’s website, which is run by its board of organisation every year. Up until recently, the board has held the same members.”
Derek tapped on his tablet to the convention’s website.
“Last month, the website released details stating that a distinguish member was no longer part of the board due to unforeseen circumstances.”
It suddenly dawned on Y/N who Derek was talking about.
“Dean Faulkner.”
Spencer whipped around towards Y/N.
All eyes laid on her as her breath increased.
“You know him?”
Y/N nodded at Hotch.
“I guest spoke at a panel with him a few years back at a separate university. We were both there, amongst others, to talk about the works of a genre that are expertise were in. I was there to basically provide loose ends for what they could not answer. Dean’s specialised area was horror. The whole time he spoke about what he described as the true villains of horror and of the world.”
Y/N gulped, her mouth going dry.
“Women.”
The wheels began to turn in the team’s heads.
Spencer stepped closer towards Y/N in assurance, seeing that her thoughts were becoming overwhelmed. He quickly stepped back after he realised what he had done.
“He went on a raging tangent about the damsel in distress and the final girl. Going on and on and on about how women are weak and would never be the last one standing if faced against the monsters in real life. How they manipulated the men and made the monsters seem worse than they truly were. The only time he spoke positively about women was when we finally calmed him down and, during a Q&A session, a student asked him who the perfect horror movie character was. He said Sally because she was forgiving and would do anything for Jack; even if that meant falling apart and being sewn back together. I tried to justify that the film does not necessarily fall into the genre of horror. But he rebutted saying that it most definitely did, because of the fact that Jack’s dream did not come true.”
The room was silent for a second, taking in the information.
Suddenly, Y/N grasped the pen from Spencer’s hands. Her finger scribbling across the whiteboard.
“I need to know the names of the victims. Get Penelope on the phone and tell me the names.”
The team shocked at her erratic movements, sat in silence.
“Do you want to capture this guy?”
Spencer licked his lips and repeated the victim’s names.
“Susanna Cole, Alice Dawes, Liberty May, and Lily Trent.”
Y/N swiftly wrote the names on the boards. Each name below the other. Underneath the last name she wrote the letter Y.
“Can you ask Penelope to track any females with the first name beginning with Y who have purchased a ticket to the next convention?”
Derek quickly began to type to her. The rest of the team looking on in disbelief.
“There were twenty-three purchases, but with cross referencing with the similarities in the other victims, one matched. Her name is Yasmine Driver.”
Y/N wrote the name on the board. Circling all the first letters of each name, it became clear there was another connection with the victims.
“Their initials spell Sally.”
Y/N nodded at JJ’s disbelief.
“Reid, when is the next convention being held?”
Spencer diverted his attention to Emily.
“Their schedule every two weeks, so that would make it… tomorrow.”
The team swiftly moved into action.
“JJ bring together the police force for a debrief. Derek and Rossi, go to the convention centre and question the board about Dean. Ask them how often he visited and if they have any knowledge of the victims visits to the convention. Spencer and Emily, contact Penelope for Faulkner’s address. Once you have visited the home, if he is there, bring him in. We’re going to try and catch him before he gets close to his goal. I will locate Yasmine and bring her to the station for safety. We don’t know how far he is going to go and what the end goal of his fantasy is. But we are going to stop him.”
The team swiftly did as they were told, leaving the room with only Spencer and Y/N behind. Just before the door shot, Hotch leaned back in.
“Thank you, Dr Y/L/N, for all your help. If possible, could you stay here with JJ and look through the documents? You know this guy more than we do, so any more information that comes to mind, please let us know.”
Y/N and Spencer watched as Hotch left the room, the door shutting behind him.
As the silence engulfed them, Y/N and Spencer were hyper aware that they were now alone and had been for the first time in weeks.
Spencer swiftly walked towards Y/N and embraced her in a tight hold. Wrapping her arms around the slender man, Y/N breathed in his scent.
“I’ve missed you.”
Y/N chuckled at Spencer’s muffled words, as his head rested on top of her own. Pulling back, Y/N slowly released Spencer, letting her hands drop to her sides.
“I’ve missed you too Doc. We can catch up later, I will be waiting right here. Now, go and save the girl.”
Spencer chuckled at her words but did as Y/N said. Throwing her a smile, Spencer quickly walked out the room, leaving Y/N behind.
Y/N sat in the room, looking over the files as the time passed, waiting to see Spencer return with the rest of the team. A knock on the door startled her from her search.
Looking up at the door, Y/N saw JJ walk into the room with two cups of coffee in her hands. JJ outstretched the one hand, placing the cup in front of Y/N, as she took a seat and began to sip at her own.
“I didn’t know how many sugars you took so I estimated.”
Y/N smiled at the woman’s kindness.
“Thank you. Have you heard anything from the others?”
JJ sat up in her seat as she watched Y/N look over the documents. Her fingers moving across the pages ever so quickly. Her hand that wasn’t tapped continuously on the table in a rhythm.
“Spencer and Emily located Faulkner’s home, but it was vacant. They’re looking around the premises for clues for where he may be; as we speak. Hotch and Derek just called saying they are on their way down with Yasmine now.”
Y/N nodded at her words. Glad to hear that the girl was safe, but the main priority now would be to locate Faulkner. She wanted to truly help them, before anyone else could get hurt.
JJ grabbed her tablet and began to search through the files for any missed out information. Silence befell across the pair, until JJ could not help but ask what they had all been dying to know.
“How did you and Spencer meet?”
Y/N had been waiting for the question. She had seen the looks the team had shared throughout the day. The questioning gazes towards the pair.
“Spencer and I were both guests speaking at the University of California a few months ago. He must have finished his lecture early as he was wondering the halls when he came across the class I was teaching. I was stood on the desk, encouraging the students to do the same. Spencer thought I was a student causing trouble whilst the professor had left the room. He ran in sprouting facts about the percentage of people who fall and severely hurt themselves whilst standing on tables. Telling me that I should get down before he reports me to my professor.”
JJ chuckled at Y/N’s story.
“Sounds like Spence alright.”
Y/N giggled in agreement. As she spoke, Y/N couldn’t help but smile at the memory of their first encounter. JJ noticed the smile on the woman’s face. She knew what that smile meant.
“So, I told him that he better stay there to catch me, just in case I fell, as I was trying to teach my students about the importance of character actions, and how doing something as simple as standing on a desk can amplify the tone of the scene. Like in the film Dead Poet’s Society. Spencer finally realised that I was also a guest speaker and he actually stood there for the next 40 minutes of my lecture. I didn’t need to stand on the desk that long, but I wanted to see if he would stay. Once the lecture had finished, he apologised for jumping to conclusions. I apologised for making him wait for 40 minutes in case I fell. He told me I didn’t make him wait; he chose to. We’ve been in contact ever since.”
Just as Y/N finished her story, the door to the conference room opened once more. Looking towards the door, Y/N watched as Hotch entered, followed by Yasmine. The young woman looked scared, but unharmed.
Y/N stood from her seat, unsure of what to do as Hotch insisted for Yasmine to take a seat.
“Do you want me to leave?”
Hotch nodded his head.
“We shouldn’t be long. The rest of the team are outside in the bullpen. You can go ahead and join them. JJ and I will take it from here.”
Y/N nodded her head, leaving the room. She watched as Hotch and JJ questioned spoke to Yasmine through the glass, before she turned and walked down the corridor to find Spencer and his friends.
Turning the corner, Y/N failed to stop herself before bumping into a tall figure. Looking up to apologise, her eyes suddenly widened at the familiar face. Before a sound could leave her lips, a blunt force knocked her out cold.
Spencer and the team discussed where Faulkner could be when Hotch strode into the bull pen.
“How did it go?”
Hotch walked towards his team, ready to answer Derek’s question.
“It seems that Faulkner had been stalking the victims for some time. Yasmine detailed seeing him turn up at the conventions, even though he was no longer allowed. She had previously complained about his behaviour to the board before his dismissal. Stating that Faulkner had sexually harassed her. Rossi, did anyone at the convention mention anything about Faulkner that we don’t know?”
“It seems that Yasmine wasn’t the only one. The other board members went into detail about why he was fired. It turned out that all of our victims, including Yasmine, had filed lawsuits against Faulkner for sexual harassment. The charges were ultimately dropped and never recorded to keep the convention’s reputation clear. But they fired Faulkner and banned him from being able to attend any further conventions. Taking away the Nightmare Before Christmas dedicated stand was just a coincidence. They felt that the convention needed something new as they had been celebrating the film for over eight years.”
Just as Hotch was about to declare what the next step would be in finding Faulkner, JJ burst through the ball pen.
“Guys, you have to come quick.”
The team, in shock, watched as JJ ran back towards the conference room. All quickly on her heels. Entering the room, she took control of the laptop, streaming the image to the projector.
Spencer could no longer breathe as he looked at the image on the screen.
“Y/N.”
The screen showed Y/N tied to a chair and bent forward; clearly in pain. Her surroundings empty and dark.
Suddenly a voice was heard.
“I sense there's something in the wind. That seems like tragedy's at hand isn’t there Dr Y/F/N Y/L/N.”
The team watched in horror as Dean Faulkner yanked Y/N’s head back, her body letting out a strangled cry at the pain caused by his actions.
Spencer felt sick, he felt like he was watching himself when Tobias Hankel had held him captive.
“Emily, call Garcia to track his location. We don’t have much time.”
Emily did as Hotch told her to. Talking as quickly as she could on the phone.
“She can’t track it; he’s re-routing the IP address every thirty seconds.”
“She needs to track it. She needs to find her now!”
They all jumped at Spencer’s outburst, watching as tears filled his vision and his hands began to shake.
“Spencer, you need to calm down, we are going to find her. He can’t have taken her far.”
Spencer took in Derek’s words. Taking a breath, he looked back at the screen as he tried to distinguish any recognisable features of where she may be.
Faulkner moved his face to rest against Y/N’s hair, smelling the tresses. She tried to pull away only for him to yank her back again.
“Why did you kill them Dean?”
Faulkner let go of Y/N’s hair. Walking to her side, he grabbed her face in a vicious grip. Yanking her to look at him.
“Why? They ruined my life, everything I ever worked hard for. You all did.”
Y/N looked at him in confusion.
“I did nothing to you.”
Y/N’s breath increased at the vicious look he sent her way. Her eyes flickered to the camera, knowing that Faulkner was streaming what was happening to Spencer and his team. She had to find a way to tell them where she was.
“You made them question my authority. My position. My integrity as a member of the board. You ruined my reputation by belittling me in California.”.
“That’s because you know nothing about horror Dean. You think you know everything about it, but you don’t.”
Spencer couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Why was Y/N taunting him?
“Garcia’s looking to see if there’s any abandoned properties around the area that he could have taken her to.”
Spencer didn’t even acknowledge Emily’s words.
Faulkner reeled back at Y/N’s taunt.
“I know everything there is to know about horror. I’ve seen it all. I’ve lived it. I’ve created it. Ask me anything about it, I know the right answers.”
“But you don’t. You have an idea of horror, your own idea, that is wrong. You believe that women are the reason you lost your job and became the monster that you are. But they’re not. The reason you’re a monster is because of your sick and twisted fantasies. You made those girls feel small and weak, didn’t you?”
“Shut the fuck up.”
The team watched in apprehension.
“Garcia, the location, we need it now.”
Rossi looked between the screen and the phone in Derek’s hand.
“I can get the area he’s holding her, but not the specific building. The whole town is basically abandoned. She could be anywhere from a shop to a house.”
“Keep looking.”
Spencer chewed on his lips. He had to think rationally. If the unsub was upset about the changes and losing his job, what could have been the last straw?
“Derek what was the film they replaced Nightmare Before Christmas with at the convention.”
Derek and Spencer shared a look.
“Cabin in the Woods.”
Spencer ran across the rooms to the files at hand.
“In the location that Garcia has tracked her too, there are three cabins, all within a walking distance of the other.”
The team began to rush out the room, transferring the livestream to a tablet so they could monitor Faulkner and Y/N.
“You’re weak Dean. You’re just like all the horror movie villains. Ghostface, pinhead, jigsaw, all of them. You feed of fear and feeling in control. But the only thing you have in common with them is that you’re not going to win.”
Faulkner scream in rage. Pulling Y/N’s head back, he punched her in the jaw. Striding to the camera, he pushed his face to the lens.
“The party’s over!”
Spencer watched in horror as the feed went off.
“Hotch we have to hurry!”
Hotch sped up the car. Quickly arriving to the location, the team split up into pairs, taking a cabin each to inspect. Hotch and Derek, Rossi and JJ, and Spencer and Emily veered off to their targeted locations. Spencer followed Emily, trying to stay calm, as he slowly walked into the cabin to find it empty, when suddenly a gun shot was heard. Looking in the direction, the pair ran to the cabin that Derek and Hotch had been assigned. The rest of the team already there, looking into the cabin in shock.
“No, no, no, no. Y/N.”
Spencer pushed in front of them, tears pooling in his eyes as he a waited to see the horror before him. He looked in disbelief as Y/N stood from her position on the floor, the gun dropping from her hand as they shook. Faulkner laid a few feet away, in a pool of blood, no longer breathing.
Y/N looked towards the team. Raising her shaking hands towards Spencer.
“I didn’t want to kill him but he was going to shoot whoever walked through the door.”
Spencer rushed forward, grabbing her in a bone crushing hug. His hands stroking her hair as he soother her cries. Leading her out of the cabin, he allowed his team to sort out the rest as he continued to calm Y/N down.
The movement of the team were a blur as ambulances and police cars came. Taking them to the hospital as they sat in the waiting room as Y/N was checked over.
Spencer sat in the waiting room, his leg bouncing up and down with nerves.
Derek excused himself from the groups conversation as he went and sat next to Spencer. Clapping him on the back, Derek squeezed Spencer’s shoulder in re-assurance.
“She’s going to be fine pretty boy.”
“Physically, she has a concussion, bruising along her jawline, and needs stitches on her forehead. Mentally, I don’t know how she is going to handle this. When I suggested asking for her help in the case, I didn’t presume the risk of her being hurt. I should have.”
“Spencer, listen to me. We would have done everything to make sure she lived okay. She not only saved herself but she also helped save Yasmine and this team. Any one of us could have been shot if she had not thought fast and got the gun out of his hands. You know, better than anyone, how to help her deal with this.”
Spencer took in Derek’s words, nodding his head in appreciation, as he leaned against his friend in a comforting hug.
“Probably wasn’t the ideal way to introduce your girlfriend to the team though.”
Spencer stuttered at Derek’s teasing.
“We’re profilers Spencer. We’ve all noticed how you’ve been happier these past few months and seeing how persistent you were for us to consult Y/N, it gave us all an idea why. Seeing you together only confirmed our suspicions. So, how long has pretty boy had his pretty girl?”
Spencer chuckled at Derek’s words. Ringing his hands together as he spoke to Derek.
“Tomorrow is actually our six-month anniversary. She was going to be flying back today so we could celebrate; unless I got called on a case.”
“We can still celebrate.”
Spencer looked up as Y/N walked through the waiting room, fresh stitches on her forehead and an ice pack resting in her hands.
“The nurse said that there was no internal damage. That my body will just be sore for a few weeks. My concussion is light, so I am alright to travel home.”
The team gathered around to check on her. But her eyes could not leave Spencer’s as he rose from his seat. Spencer walked forward slowly, his eyes never leaving hers. Carefully he cupped her face in his hands, and to the surprise of Y/N and his team, Spencer bowed his head and placed a careful kiss on Y/N’s lips. Slow, protective, and full of love.
Pulling back, Spencer wrapped his arms around her as he looked at the beaming smiles of his teammates. Y/N couldn’t help the blush across her cheeks or the giggle that followed. Soon, everyone was chuckling at the pair.
“I would like to thank you Y/N. From the entire team. Your actions saved a young woman’s life, and what could have been one of our own.”
Y/N smiled in appreciation at Rossi’s words.
“You’re Spencer’s family. I would do it all again if I had to.”
“Statistically speaking, around 2,000 people a day are reported missing in the US. Approximately, 600 of those would be reported or considered kidnappings. It is highly unlikely for you to be put in a situation like that again.”
Y/N looked up at her boyfriend.
“I never thought I would say this, but your talk about me being kidnapped again is really attractive.”
The team laughed at the girl’s statement, seeing Spencer become physically embarrassed.
“Just to inform everyone, the jet will be ready to depart in forty-five minutes. As I was informed that today you would have been heading home, Y/N we have sent for your belongings to be collected; you can fly back with us.”
Spencer smiled at Hotch in gratitude, the older man knowing he would have only worried if she had flown home alone.
“Thank you, Mr Hotchner.”
Hotch let out a brief smile.
“Call me Hotch. Your part of Spencer’s life, that means your part of this family.”
BAU JET
It had been an exhausting few days for the team, and it showed, as they all were sporadically asleep throughout the jet. Silence encompassed the steel capsule, with only the sound of sleep filled breaths being heard.
Y/N laid fast asleep, with her head on Spencer’s shoulder, as the boy genius sat up wide awake. Looking down at the woman next to him, all Spencer could imagine was what could have happened if they weren’t quick enough. How many days he would have lost with her. All the things he wanted to tell her.
As though she could sense his deep thoughts, Y/N slowly awoke, rubbing her eyes as a yawn escaped her mouth. Blinking her eyes rapidly, she waited till she was fully conscious before she spoke.
“What time is it Doc?”
Spencer jostled out of his thoughts to check the watch on his wrist.
“It’s 2:36 am. You’ve been asleep for approximately 3 hours and 22 minutes.”
Y/N quickly sat up in her seat, wide awake.
Spencer turned towards her in worry, wondering what had made her so alert.
“What wrong? Are you feeling nauseous? Do you need some painkillers, as your due to have…”
Y/N grabbed Spencer’s face and placed her lips flush against his own. Their mouths moved in unison, as Spencer’s own hands moved to circle around her waist, bringing their bodies as close as they could be in the small space they had. They hadn’t kissed since the hospital, and before then it had been weeks. Spencer never realised until then, how much he truly missed her touch, her taste, her as a whole.
Coming to a point where they both lacked breathe, the pair pulled apart. Their eyes fluttering open as Y/N’s hands caressed Spencer’s face. Her one hand travelled to his hair, feeling the tresses that had grown since she had last seen him. She looked at him in a way no one had before. Spencer shared the same expression.
“Happy six-month anniversary Spencer. I love you.”
Spencer looked at Y/N in disbelief.
“Before you start spouting of facts about transference and how I am probably only saying this because you saved my life, you’re wrong. Because then I would be telling Hotch and Morgan the same thing.”
Spencer couldn’t help the watery smile that graced his face. For the second time in the past day, his eyes filled with tears. But this time, they were good.
“I’ve known I have loved you for a long time. For five months actually. I knew I loved you when we made pizza in your apartment and we ended up burning it, so we ordered one instead.”
Spencer laughed at the memory. It was the first time Spencer had initiated their make out. He had watched her cooking, in his apartment, and he had never found her more attractive than he did seeing her in his home.
“I knew that whilst you were spouting of facts about the invention of the pizza that I loved you and that I could listen to you forever. I love you Spencer.”
Spencer pulled Y/N closer to him as he rested his forehead against her own. The pair basked in each other’s presence.
“Past surveys show that men wait just 88 days to say those three little words to their partner for the first time, and 39 percent say them within the first month. Women, on the other hand, take an average 134 days. You knew after 31 days that you loved me. I knew after our first date that the way I felt when I was with you is a feeling that I could not even describe with my vast vocabulary. I knew after 8 days that the way I felt was stronger than liking you and that was a frightening thought. But its scarier to think what could have happened to you yesterday. That I could have lost you without you ever knowing. I made that mistake before. I will never make it again. I love you too.”
Y/N couldn’t help the smile and giggle that overtook her. Spencer, feeling high of the serotonin that was coursing through his body, couldn’t help his laugh either. Soon the pair were a giggling mess, unaware of the team who had all begun to awaken whilst the pair were talking.
The team congregated to the back of the jet, allowing the couple to stay in their own bubble.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve seen him truly happy.”
The group nodded at Emily’s words.
JJ smiled as she watched her best friend rattle of the possible movies that he and his girlfriend could spend their anniversary watching as she recovered. Her smile growing even wider at Y/N’s enthusiasm to watch the film’s in their original language. None of them could miss the look of adoration beaming between the pair.
“Yeah, it really has.”
