Ghost Marriage Allows More Than One!
Tim wakes up in a hotel room in Vegas snuggled against a chest but he wasn't surprised.
He had been in the Sin City for a WE meeting and had brought Bernard along the trip since Tim's birthday was just shy a few days into it and well he wanted to spend time with his boyfriend since most of his family were off world (Dick, Jason, and Bruce all had important missions and they all apologized for missing out and Tim couldn't blame them he understood and he himself couldn't get out of the Vegas meetings no matter what he tried to do.) Or couldn't come to join him (Damian had school as did Duke and Alfred was taking care of them while the others were gone. Steph and Cass were out of country working with some important things with Babs and again he understood.) (Did it still sting yes but they all promised to make it up when they got back, Alfred even promised a coffee cake just for him)
So yeah, Vegas meeting trip turned somewhat birthday fun with his boyfriend. And since Bernard has always been good with encouraging Tim to try things it came to no surprise that during their stay he had managed to convince Tim to try drinking for the night.
Yes terrible influence Bernard was sometimes, but he did make a point. Tim was an adult now and sometimes it's okay to at least try adult dumb stuff, he didn't have to like it and could stop if he really didnt want to but he can at least say he tried it once. That it was okay for Tim to let go of his vigilante brain and just have fun in the one city that was made for it.
So try Tim did. Just for the night.
So yeah, Tim wasn't really surprised when he woke up the next morning, alcohol aftertaste on his breath, head pounding, nose scrunched up from the light of the sun peeking in from the curtains, and snuggling himself into a rather chilly chest...
Wait...
Chilly?
Tim opened his eyes when he realized that. Bernard never felt cold to Tim when they would snuggle, no he was always warm, like a warm heating blanket. It was why Tim loved snuggling him. Why was he-
Tim's eyes widened when he saw not blonde hair on the body in the bed with him but black hair. He almost flung himself off the bed from him startling awake and watched the one he had been snuggled next to mumble in his sleep and turn over.
Tim felt pure dread as he continued to stare, his stomach turning as his thoughts got bad, oh god..God... did he... oh no, no, no no. Oh where was Bernard- FUCK did he really-
Tim flinched when he heard a door open and snapped his eyes towards it. He felt his mouth go dry when he spotted his boyfriend coming out of what was the bathroom of the room and had just finished taking a shower from the sounds of left over dripping water and from the towel he was using to clean his hair.
Bernard stopped in his spot when he noticed Tim staring at him before he gave Tim a very uneasy chuckle, his eyes darting towards the sleeping body on the bed "H-Hey, good morning T. I see you... uhh seen our guest."
Tim felt ready to cry, to beg for forgiveness, but the only sound that came out was a strangled sound because of course he fucked up and ruined one of the best things that ever happened to him and-
But before he could spiral further into his anxiety and dread Bernard kept speaking.
"So ummm. Do you also remember meeting Danny at the bar, getting really tipsy, hanging out, having fun and then like going to a ghost bar with him so he could really drunk because he's like half ghost. And I mean like a legit ghost bar, like we saw Elvis and Marilyn Monroe there and they were like floating. Then we all got like super mega drunk and then... maybe kinda sorta got ghost married... because ghost marriage allows unlimited spouses cause you know, already dead doesn't matter and it's also almost permanent cause again the whole dead thing... Or did I hallucinate all that last night and we just brought in a random stranger to bed?" He asked his voice unsure as he looked between Tim and the stranger Danny in bed before lifting his hand up and showing Tim a glowing ring on it. "I'm pretty sure I didn't dream it up because I kinda woke up with this, and it refuses to come off."
Tim went silent for a moment, wide eyed as he stared back at Bernard before the pounding headache he had hit him harder than ever when the very memories of everything Bernard had said came flooding back to him. With a gasp Tim quickly looked st his own hand and sure enough on his finger was a matching glowing wedding band on it, his eyes snapped towards Danny... Danny Nightingale? Or was it Phantom? said his name was and spotted another matching one as well.
"B is going to kill us." Was the only thing Tim could muster up to say.

Stalkers and Cryptids: Incorrect Quotes
Sleep deprived Danny, propping himself up on his elbows: Are you an ‘arr’ pirate, or a ‘yo ho ho’ pirate?
Bernard, not even bothering with sitting up: I’m an ‘I’m not paying 600 dollars for photoshop’ pirate.
•••
Wes: The moon looks beautiful, doesn’t
Danny, looking at Wes: Yeah.. but y’know what’s more beautiful?
Wes and Danny in unison: Tim.
•••
Bernard, who’s more upset that he wasn’t there: How could the three of you possibly get into this much trouble in one day?
Wes:
Tim:
Danny: Not to brag, but it didn't even take us the whole afternoon!
•••
Wes: I hate physical contact. I never let anyone touch me other than when strictly necessary.
Danny: You are literally holding mine and Tim’s hands??
Wes: That’s considered necessary. 🙄
•••
Wes: It says “beat three eggs”.
Tim, sleep deprived as hell: …Maybe it means like- punching them?
Danny: Oooooh.
Bernard:
Bernard, holding up a whisk: The three of you, get out of my kitchen.
•••
Wes, fuming: You're both on thin ice.
Danny, trying to hide his smile: I'm on the floor.
Wes: It's an expression, dumbass
Bernard, looking down: It's a carpet.
•••
Tim, still in bed: So, about this party we have to go to tonight... Can you suggest some conversation stoppers?
Wes, checking his things: You mean conversation starters, right?
Bernard, busy choosing his outfit: No, he doesn't.
•••
Bernard, after a dentist visit: I can’t feel my lips … maybe you can feel them for me? 😉
Danny, flustered: … hmm?!?!
Wes: *grabs Bernard and makes out with him*
•••
Danny: It's pretty cold outside.. wanna hold hands? We should stay close.
Tim, blushing: Okay
Wes: It's fucking summer???
•••
Danny, stroking Tim’s hair: You're so cute and hot.
Tim, sleepily: I could beat the shit out of you.
Wes, snuggling Tim: and I would help.
Danny, lovingly: I know.
•••
Wes: I'm begging you go to a doctor.
Bernard: Danny, please, you will die...
Danny: I'm sorry is this OUR stab wound? Stay out of it. It's okay!
•••
Wes: I need to apologise to Bernard for roasting him brutally all day.
Danny: What?! Why did you even do that?
Wes, sulking: I was just trying to flirt...

at the center of gotham, lies its oldest public hospital — gotham general. it’s staff are kind and compassionate, if a little intolerant of bullshit. the city may not care about the crimes that occur in it but the people certainly do. gotham’s emergency services are renowned throughout the nation as one of the best.
the ER nurses at gotham general love to gossip and their latest is about how their ever-reliable EMT bernard dowd, who'll rush into burning buildings if he thinks he can save one more person, who smiles so brightly and brings them cupcakes on his days off but has such sad eyes, seems so lonely. they determinedly decide to find a date for him. maybe dr. zacharia thomas, their latest trauma surgeon? yes, yes! he's only a few years older, bernard knows him, they get along, and most importantly, he's got a stable job. he'll be perfect for their bernard!
and then, literally only days after they decide to set up dr. zacharia and bernard on a date, head trauma nurse marissa santos comes running in with a copy of gotham daily, clutched in her hand.
"look! look! nakita mo ba ang balita?" she whisper-yells, "did you see the news?!"
instantly they're all crowding around her, trying to see the paper. covering the front page is a blurry photo of a black-haired man engaged in a passionate game of tonsil-hockey with someone who is unmistakably their youngest EMT. he's still wearing his uniform for christ's sake! in the largest font known to man, "WAYNE'S NEW PARAMOUR?" is written at the top.
"he's dating the wayne ceo!" marissa gushes excitedly.
"isn't he a little too old for bernard?" someone pipes up from the back.
"not the father, you idiot! the son! timothy!"
that's way better than their candidate. everyone is stoked. by nightfall, everyone in the ER knows that bernard dowd is dating timothy drake-wayne, the youngest ceo wayne enterprises has ever had.
when bear stops by, at around 2 in the morning, dropping of the last patient from his shift, he's immediately accosted by the nurses.
"whoa! hey!" he exclaims as they lead him to the nurse's station and sit him down in a chair, "what's going on?"
marissa slams the paper down in front of him, "spill."
bernard groans and turns cherry red, "oh my god tita. don't you guys have patients to attend to?"
"already taken care of." nurse gu says.
"what about mr. gomez, the one with third degree burns that just came in?" bernard tries desperately.
"dr. zacharia is already on it." dr. esperanza responds, "so spill."
their youngest tries one last time, "how do you even know if that's me?"
"there are like 10 blonde people in the EMT department and considering all of them are older than you and none of them seem to have the three ear piercings that kid in this picture does, we're gonna have to assume it's you." dr. farah nasim, one half of the head of the ER, says.
bernard turns on her with a betrayed look.
"sorry kid," she snorts, "also, you're still wearing your uniform in the photo. it says 'dowd' on the shoulder."
"im too old to be bossed around like this." he mutters before sighing, "alright what'd'ya want to know?"
"tell us everything!" marissa says, "how did you two meet?"
"we were friends in high school and we fell out of touch after junior year. he hit me up on insta 6 months ago and we reconnected."
"oh my god!! they're high school sweethearts!" nurse gu squeals, "that's so cute!"
"tell us more! who asked who out?"
"okay well, technically he asked me out but he didn't know he was asking me out. but we went on this date at this restaurant and it got attacked by some villain and red robin, but he was going by robin at the time, rescued. so i told robin, 'hey if i make it out of this, tell tim drake, i would've liked to finish our date'. and then, tim, shows up at my door the next day and says 'i don't know what this feeling i get when i'm near you is, but i'd like to find out'. and the rest is history."
"bernard, what the hell?" dr. esperanza says shocked, "that's the most rom-com-esque story i've ever heard."
"what?" bernard blushes, "no it's not."
"bear," esperanza says slowly, "he showed up at your door and said 'i don't know what this feeling i get when i'm near you is, but i want to find out.' that is something straight out of the notebook."
"no, no! he's such a dork!" bernard assures them frantically, "he does this thing, when he laughs too hard, he snorts and it sets him off again and it just keeps going. and you should've seen him in high school, the biggest skater boy to ever exist. he's teaching me..."
and bernard goes on and on for the next 15 minutes, trailing off only when he notices them all smiling at him.
"what?" he says shyly.
"you're in love with him, aren't you?" dr. farah says.
bernard chokes, "what?! no! ...maybe?"
everyone shares a look between each other. marissa steps forward, "well on behalf of the gotham general ER staff, i can assure you, we all approve."
"thank you?"
"bring him around sometime!" nurse gu says, "we'd all like to meet him."
"why? so you can give him the shovel talk?"
"of course!" dr. farah says, smiling widely, "he’s dating our youngest! we have to threaten him!"
bernard's voice is suspiciously wet when says a few moments later, "thanks guys."
and so on it goes for the next few months until marissa comes back after her break, deathly pale. everyone worries but she refuses to tell anyone what's wrong. and then a few weeks later, nurse gu goes on his break and comes back shocked. and then a month later, dr. zacharia comes back from a quick step outside, lips sealed shut.
and on it goes until there is one glaring truth the gotham general ER night staff cannot ignore:
bernard dowd is dating red robin. open relationship or cheating, to be determined.
a year after the news about tim drake and bernard had been released, and half a year after the, what the staff has taken to calling it, Red Robin Scandal™ began, dr. farah calls a night staff meeting.
the staff meeting is boring as usual until the end when dr. farah opens the conversation to the staff to voice their concerns.
"are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?" dr. esperanza asks.
"i think bernard might be cheating on his boyfriend!" marissa blurts out before slapping her hands over her mouth, horrified.
“oh thank god.” esperanza sighs.
"wait you saw them too?" nurse gu asks.
"in the narrow walkway," dr. zacharia starts.
"between the ER and jacobson building." dr. esperanza finishes.
"exactly!" marissa says.
"i caught them in the parking lot once." dr. farah admits, mouth pressed into a grim line, "they were pressed up against the fence in the back — y'know where the light doesn't shine? — kissing each other like they'd just come back from world war 2."
"ay, how could that boy be so stupid?" marissa sighs, "getting caught up with a vigilante?"
"maybe it's like polyamory?" esperanza says, ever hopeful.
"whatever it is," farah says, "he should know better than to get involved with those people. we have to talk to him."
they pull bernard into an unused conference room, just the 5 of them, 3 weeks later.
"hey, hey!" bernard exclaims as they shove him into a chair, "what's going on?"
nobody speaks.
"guys?"
"are you cheating on tim drake?"
"what?"
"are you cheating on tim drake?" marissa repeats.
"no! why would you think that?"
"everyone on the night staff has caught you kissing red robin at least once. wanna try that again?" farah says.
bernard sighs, "is that what this is about? doc, i swear to god, i'm not cheating on tim."
"so he knows?" zacharia asks.
"yes zach, tim knows about me and red robin."
"and he's okay with it?"
"yes. tim doesn't mind me dating both of them." bernard says, a smile playing on his lips.
nobody speaks for a while.
"so..." bernard breaks the silence first, "are we good here? do you approve?"
"no." esperanza says, "we don't approve."
"what?"
"he's no good for you." nurse gu says.
"you don't even know him." bernard says incredulously.
"oh and you do?" zacharia says scathingly, "he's a vigilante bear. how much do you really know?"
"more than you zach!"
pleadingly bernard turns toward farah, "c'mon doc, you don't agree do you?"
"you know, when you first started dating tim drake, i had my reservations. rich people and all that. but i figured with all that money, if you ever got roped into rich people problems, tim's money would help out. you'd be taken care of and he clearly loves you, so i didn't mind too much."
"but this..." farah trails off, "i can't accept this."
turning towards marissa, "tita, please."
"don't do that, bear. wag kang tanga. it's not good to be with him."
"he loves me! is that not enough?" bernard near-yells, "i thought that's what you wanted. someone who loves me!"
"enough to quit being a vigilante?" esperanza asks.
"quit being a vigilante? are you guys hearing yourself?" bernard asks angrily, "he saves the city on a near-nightly basis and you want me to ask him to give it all up because what? he's dating me?"
"so let him save the city without you." nurse gu says, "why does he need to drag you into it?"
"he's not dragging me into anything! i am a full consenting adult! i chose him! what’s so different about what he and i do anyway?"
“well for one, our job is legal. and two, there are safety measures put in place so that you don’t get hurt. so that your coworkers don’t get hurt. your man walks into the joker’s lair with an inch of kevlar and a prayer on his lips.” zacharia says.
nurse gu sighs, "look. nobody here is mad at him for saving the city. everyone here knows somebody who has been saved by the bats. but the deal is that they save the city and they don't drag anybody else into it."
"the bats, whoever they are? they chose that life. for whatever reason, they chose that life and all the dangers that go with it. you’re not stupid bear, don’t get involved with whatever he has going on. pick literally anyone else.” farah says.
“you need a third person that badly? take zach! the ER was planning on setting you up with him before we found out about tim, anyway.”
“what?” zacharia says, rounding on nurse gu.
“you know what?” bernard says, pinching the bridge of his nose tiredly, “ i don’t have to explain myself to you guys.”
“you can’t marry him.” marissa says.
“who said anything about marriage? i’m 22!”
“you clearly love tim. you two seem like you’re going to last a while and if you love red robin they way you love tim, them somewhere along those years of being together then you’re going to start thinking of marriage. what then? how are you going to explain red robin to the people you love?”
“we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
“look, bernard,” farah says gently, “we’re not doing this cause we don’t want you to be happy. you mean a lot to me, i think of you as my son. we just-”
“you’re not my mom.” bernard snaps out, “you’re not my mom, you’re not my aunt, my uncle, my brother. you guys aren’t anything to me!”
he turns and walks away.
“farah do something.” marissa hisses.
“let him go. he said he’s an adult right? then let him make his choices.”
“but,” she says, raising her voice so bernard can hear her, “if anything goes wrong, and i mean anything at all, i hope he knows that adults don’t have to do everything by themselves. that they can ask people for help.”
bernard’s hands still on the doorknob. “thank you.” he says voice rough, “nothing will happen, but thank you for the offer.” and he walks out the door.
bernard dowd, is 22 year old EMT that has too much heart and not enough brain. he’ll rush into burning buildings if he thinks he has even a minute chance of saving someone. he’s kind and he’s sweet and more importantly, he’s dating timothy drake-wayne, ceo of wayne enterprises.
if you ask the ER night staff at gotham general, after a lot of prodding, they might tell you that bernard dowd was one of the youngest EMTs to ever join the gotham county emergency medical services. they might tell you that bernard dowd has been wondering if he should become an AEMT or a paramedic. they might tell you that as the major receiver for all patients, bernard saw them all the time and imprinted on them like a baby duck. and if you’re really close they might, tell you the ER’s biggest secret: bernard dowd is dating both timothy drake-wayne and red robin. or they might just let you walk in on them making out behind the ER. whatever comes first really.
(if you get close enough to a certain group of people on the ER night staff, they’ll tell you that bernard dowd has two hands and he uses them to hold onto his boyfriends.
they’ll tell you that tim drake is a nice boy and they’re a little worried about their bernard fitting into the circles a wayne walks in, but he’s a nice boy who clearly loves bernard, so they’re not too worried.
they’ll tell you that that red robin character is no good for their bernard and has no business getting so close to their youngest. that red robin is going to get bernard into trouble one day, the kind of trouble that you don’t come back from.
and if you get really close to them, they’ll tell you over lunch breaks and muttered whispers, that both boys are going to break their youngest’s heart. and that if they had to pick, red robin will do it first. that their bernard loves a little too deeply and that they're worried that it’ll break bernard.
but they’re not too worried, they say. because bernard has them and if that bastard red robin breaks his heart, then they’ll pick up the pieces, they’ll sew him back together if they have to. after all, bernard stitches up half of gotham every night, this is the least they could do.)

Inspired on an episode from HIMYM - because is my background noise show:
Tim hooking up with Jason thinking he is a hooker because whoever introduced them (probably OG Bernard) was playing a prank on Tim for being a prude/too puritan and is not like Tim had much time to find a date for the wedding he had to go to. He is still friends with his ex but it hasn't been that long since the break-up and its awkward and now they have to go to the same wedding since they are within the same group of friends.
Bernard: You should totally bring a date
Tim: what? who am I gonna bring? I'm too busy as it is and I'm not going to bring a random guy from grindr
Bernard: Eh, just bring an escort
Tim: I'm not THAT desperate.
Bernard: Pfft, what's the big deal, no strings attached, get to show everyone you are doing just fine, no one has to know, you leave with your dignity AND a good time
Tim: You cannot be serious.
Bernard: Oh I'm so serious. What, Tim Drake can't hook up with a hooker now?
Tim: Just no, and seriously shut up. I'll see if I can find someone and I have nothing to prove I don't care to make Steph jealous. Plus I'm sure she won't bring a date.
Wedding comes, Tim shows up and Bernard is with his date and another very handsome man.
Tim pulls Bernard to the side because what?!
Tim: Who is that?
Bernard: Oh, you know, found you a date *wink*, thank me later.
Tim: With a hooker!?
Bernard: What, too handsome to be a hooker uh? No one would ever suspect anything
Tim: That's beside the point! I had said no-
Bernard: Geez, give it a try no one said to sleep or do anything with him? He is just a companion tonight, whatever else happens is up to you
Tim: I know that! But-
Steph: You guys ok there?
Steph and her date had joined Jason and Ariana (Bernard's date) and they had come looking for Bernard and Tim.
Jason: Hey, you are way cuter than described.
And he winked at Tim. He was way too handsome, towering the whole group.
Tim at first is kind of forced to go along but it would be awkward to reject Jason since he was already there, and it was not his fault plus damn he looked stunning. They hit it off just fine, in fact it was great, Jay was a total nerd, they spent most of the night talking, drinking and flirting, and Tim started to feel all giddy and more emboldened to just flirt back. Is not like he will see him again right?
The event was at a hotel and they were going to leave their own ways. At first Tim was reluctant because well, he has never done this before and maybe this is going to be really expensive but… what the hell, he hasn't been with anyone for some time and he really finds he likes Jason even if he is a hooker and might not actually like Tim. So he invited Jason to his room to which Jason just said: Was starting to think you were not going to ask. That would have been no fun.
They hook up, sex is amazing, 100/10 would do it again … , and Tim leaves a few $100 bills by the table and just leaves a note with his number saying call me. Tim thinks well… at least maybe this way he knows Tim is still interested to see him again. Tim feels crazy because what has his life come to… and no, is not like this will be a Pretty Woman kind of plot, Jason probably has other people to see and WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM!? He will totally not tell anyone about this and certainly won't tell Bernard how did it go.
Well, Jason never calls him, Tim doesn't have his number, so he can't call him. Not long afterwards Tim has an accident on his bike, the paramedics come get him and Tim sees Jason there. At first Tim thinks maybe he is hallucinating because he totally has a concussion but-
Tim: Jason? what are you doing here?!
Jason: My job?? Didn't Bernard tell you I was a paramedic?
Tim: WHAT? AREN'T YOU A HOOKER!?!?
Jason: What.
Jason has half the mind to not punch Tim because he is having flashbacks of having such an amazing time with this rich kid that seemed nothing like the rest but then he wakes up alone and with money by the bed table. So insulting.
Jason: I'm a fucking PARAMEDIC… now shut the fuck up before I fucking make your injuries worse and lose my license.
Anyway, they clear things up (and Tim cant look at any of the nurses in the eye because they start giggling). Bernard, Ariana and Jason work at the same hospital and Ariana and Jason are good friends. Bernard invited Jason with them, telling him he had a good friend of his who is really cute but pretty lonely and can't find a date since he barely has any time to get himself out there. Jason shot him down at first with thanks but no thanks, but Ariana (Bernard's gf) told him Tim is actually really nice. Since Jason didn't have any plans he ended up accepting.
Jason: So you slept with me…thinking I was a hooker?!
Tim: …. Listen I wasn't going to do any of it, I swear but you were so funny, witty, smart, loved talking to you and in just a few hours I found I really was starting to like you, you were amazing… and didn't matter what you did for a living. I genuinely wanted to see you again and now I'm babbling and not making any sense I'm sorry-
Jason: The fuck is wrong with ya?… after another string of curses
Tim: I- … I'm sorry, I know this is a mess and I understand if you don't want to see me again-
Jason: No, I was talking to myself because for whatever reason I find ya oddly sweet.
Jason: But first, I'm going to do something for myself and slash Bernard's bike tires :)
Tim: Oh, can I join you?
Jason: Sure. It's a date Timbit ;)

I'm glad, that DC writers are changing constantly and therefore the characters are protected from the Bat-family. The Bats are the cancer of DC comics. There wouln't be any independant characters anymore if they could gez their grubby hands on the other DC families
That's another way to look at it.. I agree that they're trying a bit too hard to connect every character to the bats' storyline. so you might have a point there. maybe it would create more bad than good if they let batfam authors interfere with the other storylines... but i still wouldn't call the bats the cancer of DC. I think if you took the bats out of DC, it would lose like half of its charm and quality.
with all that being said though, i still think the biggest problem of DC romances (or comic book romance in general) lies in each run having separate authors. think about why harley x ivy worked. it's because both of those characters already existed before they got together. both of them were loved villains and later anti-heroes, they both have their own story, their own past and their own redemption arcs. they're both INTERESTING. and when DC made the risky choice of making them a couple, it worked.
i'm not saying it would work with any other characters, or that they should make all their major characters date each other. but if you want to explore romance in your comics you have to give the readers an actual relationship, involving two realistically written and interesting people. not a major character and their accessory love interest. that's my issue with tim x bernard, or jon x jay. no one will get attached to, or even invested in, these relationships because we don't know anything about the love interests. they're just some random people. even if you try to give them personalities they will still not have a story outside of their relationship with the major character. bernard and jay were only created so tim and jon would have someone to kiss. it's hard to care about them, and therefore their relationship. they're just boring romance side plots.
you can introduce a character with the sole purpose of making them a couple with one of your major characters and still make it work, like batman and catwoman. you can create chemistry with a new character just as well as you can with already existing ones. but i think we need more of the first option. less last minute love interests and more people falling in love. i think what makes DC special is that they show us so many different versions of their major characters, we get to see them grow and change (take notes, marvel) so it wouldn't be off-brand to see already existing major characters, like superboy and robin, ending up together. not when it's DC. to be honest i think it would be like super iconic of them to do that. and i also think that DC fans would much rather have their favorite characters end up with the kind of person they went through hell and back with instead of like, a random citizen. tim and kon have so many parallels. they're both people who didn't have to be heroes at all, but still chose to do it. they both struggle with carrying a mantle too big and the fact that they were not chosen for it makes them even more insecure. they also have a past together, they're close friends, they would take a bullet for each other. so much potential. dont even get me started on damian and jon. those two are like, literal mirrors of their fathers. they have huge legacies on their shoulders and they're like quite literally the only people that could understand one another. again, so. much. potential. i'm not saying they have to be together, but if DC was gonna write romance for these characters I wish it could have been with each other.

JUST ABSOLUTELY LOST MY GODDAMNED MIND ABOUT ALL OF THIS. For one, it's a little stunning to see it so clearly confirmed that Tim had romantic feelings for Conner, that the series may not have said it in those specific words, but that is very much exactly what was being said here. When I first read through this, I wondered if they were trying to walk a fine line of, well, we can't just say that Robin was in love with Superboy, but you can make it clear through context, but there's something else interesting going on here--that Tim doesn't say much of anything directly to Conner himself. Bart and Cassie both seem to know more than Conner does, they both seem to get Tim to open up to them a little bit more than Conner does. He doesn't want to talk about what "phase" he's going through when Conner's there, he doesn't actually say, "I was in love with you!" when they have their big fight, despite that even Bart's like, "You two only care about each other!", despite that it's very directly clear that Tim knows what he felt back then and why he kissed Cassie. There's a bunch of things going on in this series (the trauma that these kids are still dealing with, Cassie's issues with the team, Bart feeling like he's treated as nothing but comedic relief, the villain trying to put them all back in the boxes they were in during that time, despite not understanding who they really were, the meta commentary on how fans hate new characters/heroes and praise the old days, etc.) but specifically, Kon's trauma at having died and feeling like it didn't matter, everyone just sort of moved on and he doesn't really know where to go from here, versus Tim's still digging himself out of the absolute wreck that Conner's death left him with, that it genuinely destroyed him, that he felt dead without Conner, but that he became who he was today because of how all of them affected each other, that thinking of Conner brought him back, too. But he never says it explicitly to Conner. He never says, "I was in love with you." He won't even say that he's dating a guy now, he just slides right past that, when Conner's in the room. Conner does seem to pick up on that by the end--when the various new characters are shown by the villain, Tim sees Bernard and says his name, there's a moment where Kon just looks at him and seems to understand, but it feels very much like, ohhhhh, Tim's feelings for Conner aren't necessarily over. Yeah, he's dating someone else, someone he genuinely loves, but if he can't even say the direct words to Conner, if he can't even say that he's dating a guy to Conner, that makes me really think Tim's feelings aren't as resolved as he might try to project. His emotional climax in this series is still about how Conner shaped the course of his life, his heart and his soul, that the series shows the sheer amount of history and impact they've had on each other--not always wholly good, as Bart points out that they get so wrapped up in each other, to the exclusion of the others, but that's just more fodder for the tremendous scope of their effect on each other--I just kept thinking, man, this is the kind of epic relationship fodder that I would expect from a pairing like Lois and Clark or something! Not just that feelings were there, but that those feelings entirely changed how the characters' hearts reacted. It's still kind of a novelty to get any kind of confirmation that Tim was in love with Conner, that there's hints those feelings aren't gone, but also just how big their dynamic really is and how they really do feel like one of those supercouples that have an epic story to tell.

OKAY OKAY OKAY- So these are just very Generic Bernard headcannons I have in my notes okay okay-
(Headcannons under the cut)
- Is a mix of Irish, Greek, and Italian (Mother is probably Italian, His dad is Greek and Irish in my head)
- Despite that he doesn't speak any of the languages but has been wanting to try learning some of them, just college is a very busy time for him and he is tired man. Such a tired double major college student
- this being said He does love looking up pet names in those languages and Calling Tim them to which Tim calls him Cheesy as if Tim isn't also a cheesy guy as well
- Can ice skate actually really well due to going on yearly ice skating trips with his parents since he was young, like at least since he was eight.
- Due to the fact that he's estranged from his parents despite still wanting a relationship with them but they don't reach out and basically ignore him due to his sexuality and not living up to their expectations, he has tried getting Tim to go on ice skating dates with him and Tim is more than happy to go Even though Tim is more a skateboarder than an Ice skater.
- His love of cooking came from his mom when he was younger because he loved helping her out in ways that he could in the kitchen as a kid. He loves making recipes he learned from his mom for Tim but it's also very bittersweet cause of that factor but at least Tim loves his cooking so it's a win. That being said he also loves learning new recipes online and has a folder of bookmarks saved of one's he wants to attempt to make.
- Biggest Physical affection lover and gives it so freely, Has turned Tim to the side of Cuddles being a must for sleeping
- Audhd haver because If I like a Neurotypical character assume that means they either have a really compelling story or I've just been replaced by a clone!!
- Favorite colors are Yellow and Green but Green it specifically has to be more on the yellow side. He just likes it okay okay-
- My headcannon for him realizing he like guys was He started feeling romantic feelings for Tim while he was in Louis E. Grieves but didn't have a name for the feelings til Losing connection with Tim and so he had to struggle with that for a bit-
- Loves being a provider, it's part of the reason he likes cooking because he can make food for his friends and make sure they eat- even if he can't make food for them he will always make sure to be able to get food for his friends (Read that Tim Drake Robin panel where Bernard brings Tim burgers while Tim is trying to crack the case like my god that man loves Tim-)
- my personal favorite headcannon is that Bernard realized either as Tim saved him from the cult that Tim was Robin like Bernard's not dumb!! He has eyes and has been crushing on both Timothy Drake and your alter ego for a Hot minute he can puts the dots together man!
- As much as he is a Mothman lover, Batman and The Jersey Devil is what sparked his interest in Cryptids. Batman is explainable but also so mysterious and no one knows what his deal is besides saving Gotham from crime, The Jersey Devil however Bernard wants to know about because IT'S THE JERSEY DEVIL HELLO???

Tim Drake x Bernard Dowd — Identity Reveal.
Tim and Bernard had to talk. Now that the things were calm, and they were done with the cult of the Chaos Monster, there were things that needed to be resolved, they both knew it, and they were both afraid of it.
Tim texted Bernard, saying "we need to talk", which he saw and didn't reply. The truth is, they haven't really talked since Bernard showed up with all the batfamily and the marina to save Tim, or Robin. Tim took care of Bernard until he was sure he was okay, and Bernard did the same for him, but after that, the situation got awkward, and they both knew they were delaying the inevitable.
Tim was in his boat, wearing an old t-shirt that was probably Dick's, walking back and forth waiting for an answer from Bernard when he heard something coming from outside the boat. When he went to see what it was, he found Bernard entering his room. Sometimes Tim forgot that he gave a copy of his key to Bernard, saying he could use it when he needed to, if the situation got tough. He had to fight an urge to hug his boyfriend, at that point Tim had already become dependent on Bernard's touch. He never really liked physical touch, but it was different with his boyfriend, not touching him was so hard.
"Hey" Bernard said "I was nearby and I saw that you wanted to talk" it was a lie, he was already on his way to Tim's boat when he saw the message.
"Yeah" Tim replied, not knowing how to go on.
Even though he knew what he needed to talk, he had no idea how to start a conversation like that. He was so scared, he was afraid of how Bernard would react, and was so afraid of losing him. Bernard had already become an important part of Tim's life, a bigger part than he was willing to admit, and he wasn't the only one who notice it, his siblings and his friends talked about how happy he looked, and that they hadn't seen Tim this way in a long time. That's why he was so afraid of telling the truth, because that meant change, and change scared him.
Thinking rationally, Tim knew that Bernard liked Robin, his Robin, but liking him and dating him were two different things, and an irrational part of his brain kept telling him that being Robin would make him lose Bernard, as it has made him love everything else.
Bernard pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Listen, Tim" he said, trying to stay calm "I really didn't mean to find out. I had no idea when we started going out."
Tim could see the pleading in his eyes.
"I wanted to tell you" he let the words slip out, staring at the floor "but it was too dangerous, I couldn't risk it, not again" he said, looking at his boyfriend.
Bernard was silent for a while. He knew Tim was scared, but he wasn't the only one. Bernard was afraid Tim would get mad at him for finding out or for not telling him what he knew.
He knew Tim wasn't like that, not his Tim, but there was a voice in his head that kept saying "he'll leave you like everyone else, like he's left you before, you always screw up", and it was hard to ignore this voice.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I found out" his voice was choked, and he felt tears forming in his eyes. He was trying to be rational, but he was so used to letting people down and being punished for it that it was hard to imagine any other scenario "I was afraid of what might happen."
Tim stared at him, he really wanted to hug him, but he didn't know if Bernard wanted to. Tim has never been good at showing affection, and he never quite knew how to handle it.
"I…" when Bernard looked at him, Tim released that feeling he had trapped in his chest, not knowing what to do with it "I'm relieved that you know" he said, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted from his lungs "every time I had to lie to you, I wanted to tell you the truth. I was afraid you would think the problem was you, and that if you knew the truth, I would lose you."
Bernard had to hold back a laugh. The idea of Tim losing him was almost comical. It was something much more likely that he would lose Tim, but he wouldn't say that.
"If It makes you feel better" he said, wiping his eyes "your excuses weren't exactly the best" he smiled.
"I usually lie better than that" he replied, smiling over the teary eyes he didn't even notice he had.
"So you're not really mad at me?" Bernard asked, he needed to be sure.
"No, of course not" Tim reassured him "I was just surprised, I though you would be pissed that I didn't tell you" he said guiltily.
"I figured you had your reasons, and you'd tell me at some point, but I didn't think I would have to tell you first" Bernard couldn't contain his smile of relief.
"When did you find out?" Tim asked.
"I had my suspicions, but I was sure when I tried to cook on your boat and accidentally opened a giant computer with the Robin symbol" he replied, to which Tim looked away, embarrassed at his inability to keep his secret "but you know I wouldn't tell anyone, right?" he asked, taking Tim's hands.
"I trust you, Bernard"
"I trust you too, my boy wonder" he replied, kissing Tim.
They kissed for a while, and neither of them could say when they ended up on the couch.
"By the way," Bernard said, between kisses, "Pie told me they saw Robin here the other night," he chuckled between sentences, "they're sure you're cheating on me."
"And what did you do?" Tim asked, snuggling into Bernard's lap.
"I said that we are a threesome."
"You what?"
Ok so this was supposed to be posted on monday but I only managed to finish today. Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language and I just quickly revised it. But I hope you liked it!!

FicBit 7: Jason Todd/Tim Drake
Previous parts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6
This was not one of Jason's better ideas.
~
Jason tried. He did. He went to the nightclubs and the bars and he asked guys out on dates and kissed guys on the dance floor. Not one of them was Tim Drake. Sure, some of the kisses were interesting and one guy put a heavy hand on Jason’s lower back and pressed him close in a way that he liked, but when he went home, when he went to bed, there was only one person on his mind.
Maybe, he thought, he was trying too hard. He was in the back of a nightclub nursing a drink and watching the couples and throuples on the dance floor. He had discovered a few things that he liked and didn’t like and he could build on that. But his heart wasn’t in it tonight and he knew it.
At least it wasn’t until a slim, dark-haired guy leaned into the bar to speak to the bartender and Jason knew him. He would know Tim Drake anywhere. Tim got his drink and backed up, his eyes casing the room. There was nowhere to go, so Jason just braced for Tim’s gaze to sweep over him and lifted his glass in acknowledgment. Tim nodded and started filtering his way through the crowd toward Jason.
“Hey,” he said, a few inches below Jason’s ear. “Didn’t expect to see you here.”
Jason shrugged. “Research,” he said. “Where’s Cannon Fodder?”
“I’m working tonight,” Tim said, sliding up against the wall next to Jason and taking a sip of his drink. “It’s drugs,” he said from behind the glass. “Want to help?”
“Hell yes,” Jason said.
~
For the record, Jason would be down with taking out some pushers even if it didn't involve Tim murmuring in his ear for the next ten minutes.
But it did.
“It comes in on motorboats small enough to come up to the dock,” Tim explained. “They cut and package it in one of the rooms upstairs - I haven’t gotten in there yet - and then they have the dealers take it to the floor. A little dancing, a little grinding, hey you want to do some powder, and they’re making bank before midnight.”
“So we want to be on the docks,” Jason reasoned. “Pushers aren’t getting us anywhere but the cutting room. If we can get onboard one of those boats - “
“This is just evidence-gathering,” Tim told him. “If we can catch the actual sale, I’ll call Detective Williams and he can - “
“Don’t you want to get the big bad,” Jason asked. “Cut this ring off at the head?”
“Do you have anything that even resembles a plan?” Tim returned. “We don’t have gear. At least I don’t.”
“I came here to get laid, not bust a drug ring.” Jason shrugged. “But I like to think I’m flexible with my plans.”
Tim stared at him a moment, eyebrows furrowed, mouth slightly open, and Jason suddenly realized what he’d said. Well. Who cared, anyway. One of these days he was going to get laid at one of these places. He didn’t have to tell Tim that it wasn’t actually going to be tonight.
‘Come with me,” Tim said suddenly, looping fingers around Jason’s wrist and tugging him around the crowd, up to the bar. Tim left his half-filled glass on a tray and waved down a handsome blond guy at the edge of the room. For a moment, Jason thought Bernard was actually there, but then realized the guy was too broad and too sharp-featured to be Tim’s boyfriend.
“What can I get for you, Mr. Drake-Wayne?” the man greeted them, hardly sparing a glance for Jason. “Or for your friend, perhaps?”
“Listen,” Tim said, sounding impatient and bored for someone who had summoned the guy in the first place. “My friend - “ and at this point, he slid his hand into the back pocket of Jason’s jeans - “is looking for a bump but frankly, I’m a little concerned about the quality of the stuff here. How do I know it's not cut with fentanyl or something else that could cause some…bad press?”
Wow, Jason almost said because he knew Tim had some bastard in him but he delivered that line so coldly, Jason wanted to shiver.
There were other reasons he wanted to shiver, starting with the hand Tim had firmly tucked in his back pocket. He was starting to regret wearing the tight jeans that night.
“Understood,” the man said. “If you like, I can show you the process from receipt to delivery. The package comes to us pure and the division of assets takes place upstairs.”
“Please,” Tim said disdainfully. “I do enjoy an efficient operation.”
They followed the man down a back hallway, past the bathrooms and the kitchen, and finally out a set of double doors onto the freshly salted air of the courtyard.
Under the light of the new moon and the motion-activated security lights on the building, Jason’s pants were definitely too tight. He tried to adjust himself subtly but Tim noticed and a blush spread across the bridge of his nose and over both cheeks. He did not, however, remove his hand.
“Mr. Drake-Wayne,” the man said, nodding to the water.
Tim looked at his watch. “On the nose,” he said. The speedboat pulled up alongside the dock and the pilot looped heavy rope lines around the pylons of the dock.
“Pure bricks,” the man said, breaking one in half. White powder puffed upward in the moonlight and Jason threw up a little bit in his mouth. He tapped a finger against the split edge and held it up to Tim’s face - to smell or taste, Jason wasn't sure. “A sample, Mr. Wayne?”
“Drake-Wayne,” Jason said.
“Excuse me?” the man said, looking vaguely horrified that Jason dared speak.
“He uses both names,” Jason said. Tim was the only one of them to use the Wayne moniker - mostly because Bruce had suckered him into working for the business - but he made sure to acknowledge his birth family as well, and Jason respected that.
“Of course,” the man said. The expression he cast at Jason was most definitely in the sneer family. “Any other requests?”
“Well,” Jason said, deciding to go for broke. “I don’t suppose we could have a tour of that ship?”
Tim’s hand spasmed. Yeah, this was definitely one of Jason’s better ideas.
~
This turned out not to be one of Jason’s better ideas.
Jason hit the water feet-first and sank like a rock. He exhaled some bubbles and followed them to the surface with brute strength strokes. His head broke the surface and he immediately looked around for Tim as he blinked water out of his eyes. For a long moment, he couldn’t see Tim, could barely see anything, and his heart seized up as he reoriented himself, finding the ship behind him and the lights of the marina in the distance. He shook his head and his ears popped and there, finally, Tim’s head broke the surface twenty feet away.
Jason used a powerful crawl to close the space between them. “You okay?” he called, spitting out vile Gotham river water that lapped into his mouth when he opened it.
“Yeah,” Tim called back, spitting out his own mouthful. His hair fell into his eyes and he shoved it back out of the way. “Make for the marina. My boat’s not far.”
‘Not far’ was a relative statement, Jason found, as he followed Tim through the water toward the lights. Tim was a graceful swimmer, cutting through the water swiftly and quietly. Jason had the strength and endurance, but he wasn’t as fast as Tim and trying to keep up was actually a little bit of a workout.
“Here,” Tim finally declared, grabbing the ladder on the outside of one of the boats and hauling himself out of the water. Jason followed closely, feeling the weight of the water fall off him as he pulled himself up the rungs.
“Ugh,” Jason said when he hit the deck. “Gross.” He was drenched through and while he was glad he’d been wearing clubbing clothes instead of his armored suit, he was drenched and the night air was chill.
“We probably need a course of antibiotics now,” Tim said, and Jason coughed out a watery laugh. Then Tim sat straight up. “Oh, shit.”
“Oh shit, what?” Jason asked but he didn’t have to wait for an answer.
Cannon Fodder was on the dock and hopping onto the boat. He was a good-looking kid, Jason had to admit, taller than Tim, lean but fit, with dark blond hair falling over his eyes.
“Tim?” he called. “Tim’s friend? Are you okay?”
“Hey, hi,” Tim said, scrambling to his feet and reaching for Bernard. “We’re fine, it’s all good.”
“Were you *swimming*?” Cannon Fodder asked in horror and reared back when Tim leaned in to kiss him. Jason couldn’t really blame him. Gotham’s water wasn’t exactly potable on its own and the river caught the worst of it. “In the *river*?”
Tim raked his hair back. “Um. Jason fell in and I jumped in for…solidarity.”
“Solidarity,” Cannon Fodder repeated.
“To help him get back up to the boat,” Tim amended hastily.
“Help,” Cannon Fodder echoed. His eyes narrowed at Jason and Jason immediately felt guilty. This was the guy who made Tim smile like Jason had never seen before, Tim’s *partner* and Jason couldn’t stop himself from wanting to wrap Tim in his arms, kiss him, steal him away for his very own.
Did Cannon Fodder know he was the guy Tim had kissed? How had he reacted when Tim had explained? How had he *felt*? Was the context enough? Empathy might not be a trait people immediately associated with Jason, but he was having a hard time not putting himself in Cannon Fodder’s shoes right now.
“I fell in,” Jason said. “I was chasing my, um, hat. I had a hat and I thought I could grab it. Guess I was wrong.” He could feel Tim’s eyes on him. Ugh, selflessness was the worst.
“Sorry about your hat,” Cannon Fodder said. “You might want to hold on to it better next time.”
“Yeah,” Jason said, entirely aware there was no wind that night. “Or maybe not wear a hat.”
“Also an option,” Tim agreed. “Um, Bernard, this is my friend Jason. Jason, this is my boyfriend Bernard.” And then he fucking blushed at calling Cannon Fodder his boyfriend. “Look, we should get some dry clothes. Um. Jason, I’ll see if I have anything that will fit you?”
That was unlikely. Jason might be able to squeeze into a t-shirt that was oversized on Tim, but there was no way pants were going to happen.
“Uh, thanks but I think I’m just gonna…Uber?”
“Uber?” Tim repeated.
“Uber,” Cannon Fodder said firmly.
Somehow Jason’s phone survived its bath in the Gotham River, courtesy of the weatherized case Barbara had left in a gear drop. There was awkward silence as Jason waited for his ride.
“Thanks for the save,” Jason said stiffly when his ride was a minute out. “Bernard, good to meet you, man.”
“Same.”
Yeah, Cannon Fodder definitely knew who he was.
Jason collapsed in the back seat of the car and closed his eyes. He’d given an address two blocks from his closest safehouse but chances were he’d have to burn the place anyway. River stench lingered.
He tried not to picture Cannon Fodder taking Tim below decks and stripping him of all those wet clothes, wrapping him in towels, running a hot shower, getting in with him, soaping him up, and -
Yeah.  Not picturing that at all.

"Is it okay?" Tim asks, "if I'm Robin?" He won't look at Bernard. He won't look anywhere but the wall, blank off white with nothing on it, gaze steady like he's trying to find every flaw in the paint.
"What does that even mean?" Bernard asks, crossing his arms. Uncrossing them. He's not sure how to sit, anymore, and maybe it's better that Tim steadfastly refuses to meet his gaze. Doing this almost but not quite face to face is easier. He still wants to get up and rummage through his pans and start cooking something.
Tim glances back in surprise, just for a second, just enough that Bernard can watch him look guilty before hiding his face again. "I'm. You know I'm Robin, right? I'm not just friends with him, I'm him. I thought you knew that." And Bernard wants to scream at the top of his lungs, because he doesn't know how many times they can do this song and dance.
So he says it, outright this time, just to be clear there aren't any misunderstandings. "Yeah, Timmy. A few too many superheroes on your boat for me not to notice. For, uh, maybe more than just me, I don't know. I think everyone might know." People were making comments, after the rescue. They were both a little too stressed to pay attention, but probably there was stuff in there about Tim and Robin. A few knowing winks, at least.
"I hope everyone doesn't know. What a mess." There's a long pause, and then Tim takes a deep breath, and scooches over to Bernard, and wraps him in a hug, going boneless against him and breathing against his neck. Bernard's never sure whether Tim is trying to smell his aftershave or just sighing at the closeness, but his breathing changes. "You'll let me do it? Be Robin, I mean."
"Let you? It's not my business," Bernard says, and when Tim tenses against him, amends it to, "I mean, obviously I care, and I worry and stuff, but I'm not in charge of whether you're Robin. Batman is, right? Or maybe he isn't, considering what everyone else gets up to." He relaxes when Tim starts laughing.
"I wanted to tell you," Tim says, quietly. And Bernard thinks did you? but doesn't say it, because he's being a supportive boyfriend, and that's kind of a bitchy thing to say in the middle of what might be a heart to heart if they can actually get to that part of it without one of them chickening out. "I didn't want to tell you. I don't know. I don't want to put you in danger."
"Babe, I walk around with arms full of knives trying not to touch burning things all day," Bernard says, adding nothing about the streets of Gotham. Tim has enough to worry about without reminding him it's never possible to keep everyone safe, that there's always something unpredictable around the next corner. "Yesterday I got hot sauce on my dick."
"You what?" Tim says, tensing again, but this time it's clear from his stuttering breaths that he's trying to hold in laughter. Which is rich, because Bernard saw what Robin was doing last night. Some enterprising Riddler goon uploaded video proof that the suit only comes with a soft cup, and Riddler's cane works well as a bludgeoning weapon. So it's not like Bernard was the only reason they weren't having sex yesterday.
"Sometimes," Bernard says, with a long suffering sigh, "you chop hot peppers, and you simmer the sauce, and it smells amazing, and then you have to pee. And you forget to wash your hands until after." He winces, of course, but he was already wincing at remembering the video, which is also kind of hard not to laugh at. It's an awkward feeling. Kind of like talking through the Robin thing.
"I can get you a comm," Tim says, curling into his chest, speaking just a little too softly to hear completely, but what he means is coming through loud and clear. Bernard strokes Tim's hair and rests a cheek against his back. Tim words reverberate against him. "You can listen in whenever you want. Make sure I'm safe."

catching up on some current comics
td:r #10
listen i am, as a whole, not super fond of the whole bernard knows and tim has no idea bernard knows thing in general because it makes tim look super dumb but also since i am a post-crisis girlie and some of tim's biggest stressors were people finding out his secret id despite his wishes i can't help but think that post-crisis tim would in fact feel very betrayed by this
listen i do like seeing jack and tim giving him a hug especially after fitzmartin wrongly said that she felt like tim's story with his parents was done way back when (she was incorrect, tim's parents are so fundamental to his story even after they die) but uh. as i am a drake parent girlie i'm going to go ahead and quibble with one thing and that's that suits weren't jack's signature look by any means lmao. it does feel a bit ~drake industries boss~ fanon-y. jack was almost always dressed wearing normal clothes. my favorite outfits include his wife's funeral get-up, his depression era matching with dana pajamas, and his keystone city purple sweater. actually i feel like he's most often drawn wearing sweaters and slacks. he also had a tendency to wear a collared shirt under his sweaters.
once again fitzmartin leaning into the ~maybe you don't belong~ thing which is not a favorite of mine. like he should have insecurities, yes, but by this point he should be pretty darn secure in his place in the batfam at least.
i wouldn't mind so much if it were more tied to the whole feeling adrift due to losing his entire history and then gaining it back and having to navigate the new relationships that are closer to what they were post-crisis but still fundamentally different now and that's a weird place to be or something. but idk to me that's different than feeling like he doesn't belong. i guess this is the villain trying to prey on him so it's understandable but i also am meh on it.
bernard talking to batman and being like "tim's in trouble" (not robin's in trouble) and it's like. hm. does batman know that bernard knows, but tim doesn't know that bernard knows??? is batman okay with this??? what is happening.
enjoy the team up to say tim but also tim being like =o they came for me??? i can do this?? like yes the point of tim as the team up robin is that he calls in the team to help so i feel like this almost there but somewhat misses the mark a bit
"i've found a family, home, friends" etc. idk i feel like we're retreading old ground here. this is old news. tim is well aware of this.
...and i will give that he didn't go into this wanting to take the robin mantle, though he did volunteer when he realized it had to be him. but hm. he didn't want to be his dad. he loved his dad but um. please read batman #480.
"i thought i needed to make my way in this world alone. i thought i was alone." im sorry. fundamentally misunderstanding of the team up robin who knows in his heart that this job can't be done alone (and forced batman along for the ride).
okay like i feel like most of my issues are from he fact that it got cancelled and had to wrap up. so uh. overall i feel like mid ending for a mid series, but eh. i didn't hate it. probably won't put it on the list for re-read. would liked to have seen it continue on to see if it did hit it's stride eventually but won't necessarily miss it? it existed. i don't think fitzmartin had a fantastic handle on what makes tim tim, but she wasn't terrible.
superboy: man of tomorrow
i'm not hating it but it's not the greatest thing i've ever read. the turns and twists are not exactly a surprise. i'm sure that kon will overcome and beat all the cosmoteers or whatever
kon just seems really, really young and naive and the art isn't necessarily helping that
i just want young justice to be 20 year olds okay
okay the kon & clark dynamic is not great and the part of me that takes comics seriously is like. sigh. the young justice show was a scourge.
the part of me that does not take comics seriously at all because it's fiction and none of these people are real does think it's hilarious when everybody gets fanon!tim'd
:( :( oh noes...clark didn't realize kon was gone for 2 weeks...he must grovel...grovel in apology...now that kon has decided 2 leave they realize just how much he meant 2 them....they took him for granted....:( :( :( (jk jk jk)
knight terrors: robin
pros: tim called cassandra cassie. i liked the art? babs goes by oracle and drinks coffee (i guess).
cons: why is this a jason & tim book? who asked for this. at least they're fighting as they should be. why does nobody use code-names. "i know this place it was dad's place" tim u lived there too lmao. the least you could say is "this was our old condo". oh good, we're re-hashing captain boomerang. which as much as i'm a drake parent girlie, this was already done in blackest night and better (because it was dick & tim). also as a drake girlie, everytime tim hallucinates his parents being mean to him it feeds into the whole fanon thing where his parents hated him even though the point of these nightmare hallucinations is that it's not how they felt about their son at all and that's how you know they're fake.
one more pro: him having the nightmare morph into bruce, cassandra, steph, and dick being killed by the boomerangs and none for anyone else was pretty decent. if only they weren't cowards and gave us helena & tim back then she could be there too.
okay one more pro i did like the panel of tim curled up in his bed shaking and screaming because mood
but overall....nah. i'll read the next one though just to see how this mess ends.

Tim and Damian care about each other even if they won't verbally admit it.
by Lepidopterrain
Damian's nose scrunched up as he watched the screen. "I don't understand." "They're dolls, genius. Didn't think that was such a mystery." "No, not that, Drake. I understand what dolls are." Damian rolled his eyes. Tim hummed, trying to bite back a snappy retort about how dolls weren't just for kids or girls when-- "That eye shape is entirely incorrect for her face mold. I don't understand why they would choose to remodel her in this particular style."

Damian starts acting weird after Tim and Bernard begin dating. Turns out even this kid can be naive, and a total idiot, when he wants to be.
by junmyeonubud
“I’m serious! The Justice League members are idiots! Their mission records are ugly! Have you seen their retrieval time?” Tim whisper-yells. Jason can’t help but laugh at that. “Oh—oh McFucking God, you can’t just say shit like that. Superman will hear you and he will smite you.” Tim deadpans. "Do I look like I care?" - Just a regular week in the life of Jason and Tim.

The first time Red Hood shows up at the mountain, he's there for blood; the subsequent times he's trailing it.
by soft_cactus
Jason had two ways he could do this. A, go to the living room, explain to Tim and hope that he would be nice enough to keep working from Jason’s lap, or something. Or B, suffer in silence. A sudden jolt of pain shooting through his body made the decision for him. “Oh, fuck it.” Jason is hit by Cuddle Pollen for the first time since coming back to Gotham. He underestimates how badly it will affect him and has to make the impossible decision: spend the next few hours in tortourous agony, or ask his brother for help. It’s harder for him to choose than one might think.

Being the children of Bruce Wayne has its pros and cons. Pro: you get to ride in cool cars—Lamborghinis, BMWs, and the Batmobile. Con: you have to sit through stuffy dinners with stuffy people, trying not to stuff your fork down someone’s throat.

Ok wait I'm having Timberkon thoughts.
What if Kon and Bernard have known each other for a while before Bernard and Tim even see each other again. Kon stops by this one coffee shop whenever he's on his way to hang out with Tim, and becomes a regular, and Bernard is the barista who serves him most often. Y'all know where this is going.
Kon and Bernard end up becoming... eh, not quite friends, they don't see each other enough for that. But they definitely enjoy the others company. Eventually Bernard even gets comfortable enough to rant to Kon about his crazy theories, and Kon just sits there like "oh. This mfer kinda cute actually." Bernard, of course, already thought the same about Kon (he's not blind).
Flash forward, Tim wants to introduce his best friend to his boyfriend so he invites Kon over and when he gets there Bernard and Kon just stare and each other like ??? You??? It's you??? And all three of them just sit there confused until Tim finally pipes up asking like. Yo wtf.
And then Kon and Bernard just BUST out laughing, trying to explain the situation to Tim through wheezes. Everything settles down and they eat take-out on the couch with a movie.
(Now here's where I'm gonna branch off into two different endings, a sweet one and a funny one, bc I can't decide which one I like more.)
Ending 1 (sweet)
Kon hangs out with Tim and Bernard more and more, and everything just feels natural, but they never discuss it, what there is between the three of them--if anything. It gets to the point that Kon has slept in their bed with them a few times.
It's one of those times that the delicate silence breaks. Tim wakes up first (for the first time in history lol), makes the three of them breakfast, and sets their plates down in front of them when the two finally make their way to the kitchen. "Here ya go, my loves."
It just sort of slips out like that. He didn't really mean to say it, he was still a bit bogged down with sleep (he'd only had one cup of coffee, not nearly enough for Tim). They all freeze, pointedly not looking at each other. He could play it off, they're close enough that it wouldn't be that weird to call Kon "his love" and pretend it's still platonic. But then Bernard slips his hand around Kon's and brings it up to his lips.
And there it was. That was all the confirmation any of them needed to make it official. Tim and Bernard were Kon's and Kon was their's, just as much as they were each other's. No more pretending that the obvious wasn't there, they could finally breathe.
Ending 2 (funny)
Kon hangs out with Tim and Bernard more and more, and everything just feels natural, but they never discuss it, what there is between the three of them--if anything. But it bugs Bernard. It bugs him so much--he's not the type who can just leave stuff like this unsaid, it's killing him!
So he decides he's gonna fucking talk about it, whether his boys like it or not. He sits them down one night before dinner (which they eat together every day--I mean seriously how are they not official yet? These emotionally constipated idiots smh) and connects his laptop to the tv.
Oh, Bernard revels in the blush onhis boys' faces when they read the screen. "Why Tim Drake, Kon El, and Bernard Dowd should be in an official polyamorus relationship"
He has some pretty damning evidence, it must be said. A picture of Tim asleep with his head in Kon's lap, a long and incomplete lists of cute but unofficial dates the three have been on (roller skating, picnics, museums and galleries, watching sunsets on rooftops, ...), the fact that Tim changed his costume to honor Kon and then spent years trying to clone him, etc.
When he's finally done he does not give them even a second to ask questions before scurrying off to go heat up leftovers for them. When comes back to them sucking each other's face, he just smiles proudly and pinches Tim to get them to break apart for food, snickering at his yelp.
There's no more tension when they wrap their bodies around each other and fall asleep that night.

Some Game HC's I have about Riddler:
BTAS Riddler loves playing DnD both as a player (always a caster) and as the DM. He is a game developer in the 90's so you bet your ass he was the fliperama kid. Everyday he went to the local game station (and later started exploring and looking for different ones all across Gotham) with only one coin. He played once against a player in a winning streak beting coins and he always won and would accept bets from challengers. He was abble to play all day with only one coin because he never lost a bet.
Gotham Riddler is another DnD nerd and a gamer. But I think he had more money growing up than BTAS Riddler and actually played games in a gameboy. He got a summer job so he could buy more games than Mario and Pokemon. Also I'm sorry but Gotham Riddler never played DnD, that man was born to be a DM and is likely the one DM that didn't became one because it's harder to find a DM than a party so you DM once and now that's your fate.
Arkham Riddler plays Magic The Gathering. He also plays DnD and he is the insufurable player that goes out of the way to create the most OP characthers completly full of combos and makes everything boring for everyone else because he slays too hard. He is insuferable playing Magic as well but at least he is being insuferable against his adversaries. He lost his original deck after being arrested the first time and somehow it ended on young Barbara Gordon's hands. The small time period were pre teen Barbara was the biggest Magic nerd and forced a confused Jim to play was probably the worst thing Riddler ever did to comissioner Gordon and that includes killing his co-workers and friends. Later Barbara went to play it with Jason and Tim (who she isn't dating cause ew), Bernard joined at some point.
The last DnD player is Unburied Riddler who is the opposite to Arkham: he always plays as a bard and he is the biggest follower of the rule of cool/the wonders of RP ever. He knows the rule book upside down but he never really followed the rules, he just sweet talks the DM and the tabble into letting him role for his insane plans to the point that after he basically forced Barbara and Bruce to play with him (Barbara asked Montoya to DM) no one on the tabble even knew what bardic inspiration actually did until Alfred heard them playing and as a closeted DnD nerd got incrisingly distressed by Eddie's "gameplay style". Since then Montoya joined the tabble as a paladim and Alfred is the DM. Instead of analysing what to pick to upgrade his characther Eddie spends all the time trying to find ways to sweet talk Alfred (the hardest DM to bullshit ever) into letting him do his thing. Right now his best trick is to make Bruce either join or get excited for the result because Alfred has a soft spot for his son Master Bruce.
Zero Year Riddler for all his cool persona is a nerd and not only he colects all different editions of War (yes the boardgame, the ancient Greece one is his favorite) but he plays competitive Pokemon (both online and the card game). While he is a good Pokemon player he did lose to an incredible good 12yo and he cried a whole day before trying to extract revenge. Unfortunaly for Ed the kid was from Metropolis and there was a change, small as it was, that Superman could get involved and Eddie isn't really one to get his ass beat by Superman.
Still on the card games BTAA Riddler plays Yu-Gi-Oh. He somehow understands the rules and is good on it. Miss Tuesday used to make fun of him for it until Autum acidentaly introduced her to Bakugan. If you play Bakugan you can't make fun of other people's card game choices. BTAA Riddler also plays Pokemon Go, he started because he thought it was hip and cool (he isn't even that old, he is like 30 but he just wants to be cool with the teens that badly already) and kept going because he really likes to take random pictures of pokemon on normal day things, he also loves shinny hunting. He does it on the actual game as well. He never actually played the whole Pokemon story, he just shinny hunts a lot and stops playing after he catched enough cool shinnies. He has some of the first one to capture the shinng videos and a shinny hunting secret twitter.
[Not a Riddler one but BTAS Joker also plays Yu-Gi-Oh because one has to be mad to understand all the different invocation rules (I say that as a former Yu-Gi-Oh nerd). Harley also plays Yu-Gi-Oh on BTAS but she downplays her talents to let Joker win when she is actually insanely good at it.]

Meeting the Wayne family
Chapter: 1/?
Words: 1538
Fandom: Batman comics
Summary: Tim decides it's finally time for Bernard to meet his family officially as his boyfriend... One little problem the Wayne's can be a little hard sometimes and Bernard may discover a few secrets
Read here or on Ao3
Tim's heart raced as he watched Bernard fix his tie for what must have been the 10th time in the past few minutes, "Is my hair alright?" Bernard asked his gaze still on his tie in the mirror, "Yes" Tim chuckled "Just like the other thousand times you've asked".
"And the suit isn't too much?" Tim smiled and shook his head, "You look fine, I promise".
"Just fine?" Bernard questioned raising an eyebrow at the shorter teen sitting on the bed through the mirror, Tim rolled his eyes but his grin never faltered "You look very handsome", "That's what I wanted to hear" Bernard laughed though it was clear he was still nervous.
Today was the day Bernard would meet Tim's family… well not exactly but the first time he would meet them as Tim's boyfriend rather than just his friend, but even then he had only met a few of them in passing.
And let's just say Bernard was a little more than nervous but Tim had to admit he was too, his family could be a little much sometimes, what if they scared Bernard off? Or worse what if Bernard figured out they were Gotham's favourite vigilante family?
Tim glanced down at his phone as it lit up with a notification, "Taxi will be here in five minutes" Bernard's eyes widened as he realised he was running out of time to make sure he looked good enough to be in front of Bruce Wayne, luckily his parents had pushed the idea of always being perfect and presentable into his mind since a young age was becoming helpful.
"Pass me the folder please" Bernard quickly spoke gesturing to a large blue folder sitting next to Tim on the bed, its pages filled with photographs, newspaper clippings, notes in Bernard's handwriting and printed screenshotes containing everything Bernard could need to hold a solid conversation with each member.
"You don't need it, you'll be fine" Tim mumbled still handing it to the blond.
"It's not like I'm taking it with me just.." Bernard paused when he noticed the unamused look on Tim's face, "This needs to go perfectly" He said sitting down next to Tim "I don't want them to think I'm not good enough for you".
Tim's lips pouted slightly, his eyes fixed on Bernard's brown orbs "Do you love me?" Tim asked, Bernard stared at him unblinking "Of course! Do you think I don't?"
"Would you ever hurt me?" Tim asked not answering Bernard's question but still looking into his eyes, Bernard felt like Tim was trying to stare into his soul or weirdly analyse him.
"Never! Tim, what's going on?" His hands grabbed Tim's tightly, "Then you have nothing to worry about" Tim smiled watching the worry and confusion leave Bernard's face.
Tim leaned in making the gap between him and the blond smaller "I love you" "I love you more" Bernard whispered before completely closing the gap, his lips meeting Tim's, there was no urgency to it or force, just the slow loving embrace they often shared.
Pulling away with a small gasp Bernard looked down at the folder in his lap "You think I have time to quickly go through it again?", Tim let out a loud laugh and shook his head. "I'm sure Bruce isn't going to care if you know exactly which cologne he uses" "But what ab-" Tim cut Bernard off with a finger to his lips "Or his aftershave or whatever it is you want to try and have a conversation about, just be yourself and they'll love you".
Bernard's eyes flickered between the folder and Tim's face, "I'll give it a quick once over then I'm done" Tim frowned slightly but didn't stop him, "You have a minute. I'm heading down, I'll meet you outside".
Bernard couldn't help but feel like he was upsetting Tim but what if the Wayne's didn't like him? or think he was smart enough for their young genius?
flipping through the pages he had already had mostly memorised he made sure to check over the section about what not to mention that Tim had noted down for him.
"Bernard!" Tim yelled from the front door "Taxi's nearly here and you don't even have your shoes on yet!" Bernard giggled quietly grabbing his shoes from next to the bed and jogging down to where Tim was standing by the open front door, facing down the driveway phone in hand and his foot tapping against the step underneath him.
"I'm here". Pulling his shoes quickly on and joining Tim he realised how out of breath he was, maybe it was the fact he was so nervous and his heart had been beating so much already…or he hadn't quite recovered from their kiss yet.
"Is a taxi a good idea?" Bernard questioned causing Tim to look at him with a strange look on his face, "What are you on about?".
"We could walk" Bernard pointed out, "We'd be walked for about an hour since you're so slow" Tim pointed out "And it's not like we're at Drake Manor which is practically next door".
"But isn't it better for the planet?"
"Where's this coming from?" Tim asked puzzled by the odd questioning. "I don't want Damian to think I don't care about the planet" Bernard sighed rubbing the back of his neck causing Tim to burst out laughing, "You're so stupid I love you".
"How much do you love me?" Bernard asked blush on his cheeks as he reached for Tim's hips to pull him closer, Tim pretended to think for a moment, finger on his chin looking up at the sky before wrapping his arms around Bernard's neck, "Depends on how well this evening goes".
"I'll have to be on my best behaviour then" Bernard joked pulling Tim in for a kiss, Tim's hands coming up to play with Bernard's hair, the height difference making Tim rise onto his toes ever so slightly. "Are we spending the night?" Bernard asked pulling away slightly but enough to have his lips still against Tim's, "We can do if you want" Tim muttered connecting their lips again, his arms leaving Bernard's shoulders to drop down to Bernard's hands which were still on his hips.
A few short moments later a loud horn pulled them away from each other, out of breath and blushing as the taxi pulled up the driveway towards them.
"This is it" Bernard whispered nervousness coming back again, "We're doing this together" Tim smiled at him walking down the steps, his hand reaching out behind him for the blond to take.
The driver quickly exited the Taxi to open one of the doors for the teens once it had stopped, Tim thanked him before sliding in and pulling Bernard in with him, "You've got this" Tim said as the driver climbed back into the car.
"Doesn't feel like it" Bernard replied with a frown, "But there's no backing out now".
Tim shook his head lightly "Do you wanna make a game plan in case you want to leave a conversation?" The dark-haired boy asked, "Alfred would have no issue with us hiding out in the kitchen if we need to", "Sounds good" Bernard chuckled though not entirely joking.
Looking out the window Bernard could see all the houses and trees passing by, a reminder of the fact they were actually on their way, that Bernard would have to small-talk with the Wayne family and have a meal with them.
He had seen countless movies and read numerous books about this exact situation, but none had given him the preparation he needed, glancing over at Tim who was looking out his window, a small frown on his face, his eyebrows furrowed as he sat there in thought, his hands fidgeting in his lap.
He was doing this for Tim, and nothing was going to stop him from loving Tim and being a part of his life. He had to do this.
"We're here" Tim whispered turning to face Bernard, the blond's head snapped up, how long had he been watching Tim?
but Tim was right, the taxi was heading up the long driveway towards Wayne Manor.
"We've got this" Tim spoke mostly to calm himself rather than his boyfriend, "Yeah we do" Bernard pulled on a forced smile.
"If we can do this we can do anything" Bernard whispered to Tim as the car stopped in front of the entrance.
Tim nodded as he stepped out, "Anything".
Bernard had been in the Manor a few times before but those had either been for galas as a guest with his parents, or just to hang out with Tim and their other friends.
He let his eyes wander over the many widows on the front of the building, catching sight of a head of dark hair, dark skin and bright green eyes.
Damian Wayne.
Bernard lifted his hand to give a small wave to the young teen but he didn't reciprocate, turning and walking away from the window with just as much sass as Bernard was expecting.
"Whatever happens from here on out" Tim started "I want you to know I'm sorry for whatever happens and I love you".

I don't remember if it was a Tumblr post or a fanfic on AO3 but there was like a game of 20 questions about Tim that the Batfam was doing, Damian was asking the questions and everyone was answering them, I think Bernard won, anyway I got this idea from that, if you know them tag them plz!
So like the Batfam (as the Wayne's because duh. Also tho I don't really mention him, Jason is there, they make him coming back to life public when he joins the fam again, it's Gotham, definitely not the weirdest thing to happen), plus partners/friends are doing an interview on TV, and like they play a game of who knows so and so best, 20 questions, and they volunteer Tim to be the one the questions are about
So like, they have a question, and Tim writes the answer down, seated away from them, then when writes their guesses down on a whiteboard, when times up they show their guesses and then Tim shows the answer, if you get three wrong your out.
Also Tim made the questions (like during a commercial break of something), so like the Tumblr post or AO3 fic there are still questions like, "What fair ride has Tim fallen asleep on" and "what organ is Tim missing" (I think they made that public, with some odd way on how he lost it, like a mugging gone wrong or something, so it can be on his medical records and if he gets hurt as a civilian doctors can properly take care of him, a missing spleen is VERY important) along with a few trick questions
So the game is on, it's filled with the Batfam and their partners/friends being VERY competitive, yelling at each other and just pure chaos, but also lots of laughter.
Bruce, Steph, Dick, and Bernard last the longest, until eventually it just became Dick VS. Bernard, but they kept tying, so more questions were added.
Dick and Bernard are also very competitive, and yelling at each other, glaring, odd threats or curses like "I hope both sides of your pillow are warm tonight!" or "I hope when you wake up tomorrow you look at your phone, only to realize its dead because it wasn't charging!", accusing each other of cheating, ect. It would seem aggressive but you can see the both of them fighting back smiles, sometimes even breaking the act and laughing a bit before pretending that they didn't
Eventually there's a question like, "How old was Tim when *insert life event here*?" And while Bernard remembers being told about the event, he doesn't remember the age, and gets this one wrong, making Dick the winner, which he of course stands and cheers loudly about.
I genuinely feel like Dick would win this, especially when it's about Tim. They are very close in canon, always hanging out inside and outside of patrol, having sleepovers, calling each other all the time, and all that jazz, I'm sure they know just about everything about each other. I think that's what made the events in Red Robin so hurtful for the both of them, or why Tim was so hurt in WFA when talking about Dick always ditching plans with him to be with Damian (along with his worries of Dick stretching himself to far trying to be there, to do everything for everyone).
I like to think a little while after the events of the Red Robin comics Dick, Damian, and Tim all sat down together one day, apologized for what they did wrong (they ALL did things wrong), explain their thoughts processes and how they felt the time, ect. And while the trauma is still there for all of them it helped them begin to heal and grow closer again
Or in Tim and Damian's case begin to form a bond. I don't think they ever stop fighting and antagonizing one another, but it's more in a sibling way, like Damian will do that little sibling thing where he walks into Tim's room, states at him for a bit, knocks something over, then leaves without saying a word, keeping the door wide open, he also uses Tim's things without his permission, refuses to do anything Tim says, judges him (daily, all the time), ect. Tim retaliates by hiding/using Damian's stuff, teasing him, embarrassing him in public, while he's still taller than him puts thing out of his reach, Damian brings a friend over? Tim has like 35 embarrassing stories to tell them. But they also take care of/protect each other, it's a big, "Hey! No ones allowed to mess with him but me!" type thing. Damian not only threatens Bernard with a sword when he first meets him to, "Never hurt Timothy" but also does extensive research on him and his family when he first hears of Tim's boyfriend to make sure he was good enough for Tim. Tim def does the same when Damian gets a partner, just without the sword but in no way less threatening. Everyone in the family knows not to get involved when it comes to Tim and Damian. Sorry, that got off topic, DC let Tim and Damian be brothers!
