That's.. actually a really good idea.

For a long time I never went back to the comic because the writing I did was awful. Everyone was acting out of character, it was SUPER dramatic. I wrote Peso's character all wrong. Uhg, awful awful awful.

And then I was kept away from going back because people would not stop asking me to finish it. "Why did you abandon this comic?" "Are you gonna finish it?" "Why did you stop drawing it" "Go back and finish the crab comic" Like, it was so frustrating.

...Buuuuutt,, rewriting it? Hmmm... I'm way too wrapped up with projects to start this anytime soon. But I wont lie this ask really got me thinking about it-

I dug into the series a bit and took a look around the fanbase. And I decided that it just wasn't really my thing.

Although I did love the character designs and I think they'd be really fun to draw, I didn't think I'd get along with the fandom. I can see myself huddled in my own little corner with all my headcannons and stuff, and I wouldn't really want to interact with anyone else. :/

Also my favorite character is probably Julie or Howdy XDD

I use an XPPen Artist 13.3 Pro. Its a tablet with a screen! :))

As for my drawing program I use FireAlpaca. Its free and really good for beginners and pros! Highly recommend if you're just getting into digital art. Also thank you!! :D

I disagree actually. The "bug" aside, they are in no way programed to hurt anyone. They are programmed to have full obedience to staff and Managers.

Wanna know a good place to start if you genuinely struggle with that? Make 1 character that is based off of you. And then make a second character that is based off of someone in your life that you have 0 romantic interest in what so ever. Like your Mom, or your Dad, siblings, Uncle, dog literally anyone. It should be impossible to twist those 2 characters together because they are modeled after you and ur mom. You should look at them and say "thats me and my mom" or "thats me and my brother" Those 2 should then be characters that are 100% protected from becoming a ship. :0

This actually reminded me of my transformer ocs. I modeled the characters after the drivers/owners. And people wanted to ship them together and I was like "for 1 they are my OCs so thats kind'a odd but 2 those two characters are based off of siblings. They absolutely should not- in ANY universe, be paired together"

Personally not a huge fan of the bright blue color he has. Seeing his Bonnie Bowl artwork everywhere I expected him to be his usual purple..

As for my Bonnie I think he'd get along pretty well with his Glamrock counterpart! But when it comes to the Bowling ally they'd be rivals. >:)

1: Yes! My Peach, Daisy, Wario and Waluigi are all the same species, which is not human. They are this incredibly tall elf like species that closely resembles humans and has many biological similarities.. but ultimately they are very different species.

2: Its hard to say.. I've been known to change my mind a lot so maybe? Honestly I hope that someday these feelings towards fanart will vanish and I will be able to engage with my fans more. But for now,, noooo fanworks :(

HeHe... Fun photos and fun words from Miley. I just tried this Bikini on at the end of the night, I'd wanted to take a few photos in the shower for a while but had never got the chance. Next time I'll have to suffer for my art and use cold water as the steam stopped play very quickly making most of the photos completely useless!

It would be so much easier to take these photos with a helping hand. A professional makeup artist, a photographer and maybe even a director would be very good, if anyone can be all three in one that would be great. Nice to meet you.” Even in the middle of his annoyance, Dean couldn’t help noticing Castiel was just his type. Except that he was clearly an asshole. Well no, that also had been very much Dean’s type over the years. Shit. “So Cas, you think I like risking my life for cheap thrills then?” Dean asked, not bothering to beat around the bush. Castiel frowned. “Don’t you?” “Oh dude, it’s so much more than that. I can admit there’s an element of thrill being so close to the greatest forces of nature, but just so you know, storm chasers take a lot of cautionary measures to keep themselves safe during chasing,” Dean said. “It’s not just aimlessly driving around like maniacs and blocking roads from other citizens. You had managed to convince Diana to stay a few more days, trying to avoid the inevitable. You remember the look she had given you, perplexed by your request, but she agreed nonetheless. As of today, you had spent a big portion of it sparring with Artemis and soon you were going to meet up with Cassie to go on a swim. When you were walking back to your room after the swim, you bumped into Diana. "Just who I was looking for. You are needed in Gotham and you must leave as soon as possible. Bruce found something about the case and said your presence there was required." she said and saw the hesitation in your eyes. "I know you are troubled about this Tamaranian girl, but you know what I taught you" and you nod and mutter, "Responsibility and duty before selfishness" and Diana nods and takes your face in her hands "You have to go and face it once in for all. My dove, it will be fine. The gala will be in two weeks and we will meet again. I know this matter of your heart plagues you greatly and it pains me to see you so down, but you have a duty to Gotham and a promise to fulfill to Batman. Once the case is solved, if the troubles are too unbearable, you can always come back to New York with me and stay for some time." You nod and sigh. She kisses your head and lets you go into your room, change and pack.

You are about to board Diana's invisible jet when she stops you, "Wear your new armor" she says. You had always worn the full suit that you had ever since you were a kid, with the exception of the upgrades that you would add throughout the years. But, on this visit, Hippolyta insisted on gifting you a new suit. (You didn't know that Diana had mentioned your doubts about your status as an Amazon Princess and she would not have it. Her granddaughter SHOULD NEVER question her place in their family. She was an Amazon through and through, no space for doubts.) She had used the excuse that you were of age and it was unacceptable that you looked more like a bat than a wonder. You were a princess for heaven's sake, look like one. You had accepted it gratefully and wore it all throughout your stay. You had to admit, YOU LOOKED GOOD IN IT. You look at Diana questionably. She smirks and answers your silent question, "An Amazon always looks best with her armor." You quickly understand what she meant. Diana had made it her personal mission to make sure you understood that you weren't inferior that a Tamaranian princess and that you hold just enough worth as her. You nod with a smile and change quickly.

Once you are back, Artemis, Hippolyta, Cassie, and Diana are there to see you go. They all smile as you walk towards them, ready to say your goodbyes. You hug each one of them, leaving Diana for last. You notice she is holding something behind her back and once you look at her questionably, she holds her hands out and you gasp. A headpiece similar to the one she wears is presented to you. She places it on your head and kisses your forehead, "A worthy woman through and through, always enough for anything she puts her mind and heart to" and hugs you. You get on the jet smiling, happy with the support you always get from your girls, and begin to pilot it towards Gotham.

As they watch the jet leave, Hippolyta turns to her daughter displeased, "All her self-worth torn because of a man, Diana?" and Diana turned to her surprised. Hippolyta looks at her and laughs, "What? I am your mother. The same way Yn can't hide anything from you, YOU can't hide anything from me." and Diana chuckles "She loves him mother, and he loves her. He just needs a push to recognize it." Hippolyta humps in dissaprovement, "Well, he better be worth it! My grandchild deserves nothing but the best!" and Diana laughs in agreement with her mother. You truly do deserve the best.

You arrived in New York and landed on the roof of your mother's penthouse. You head towards the Zeta tube and stand before it nervous hell of what you will see on the other side. Well, Yn...its now or never.

These last few weeks had been torture for Damian, his mission had been fucking impossible. Dick left and Yn was there, but then Yn left and Dick came back WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Oh, Damian was not pleased. How dare Dick fuck up his plan. How could he?!?!?!? AND WHERE IN BATMAN'S GOOD GRACES WAS YN?!?!?! A deep scowl could be seen constantly on Damian's face, worst than the one he usually had. When Dick arrived with Kory announcing that they were back together, everyone tensed up. Tim and Duke exchanged worried glances. The color drained from Barbara's face. Jason cursed, and Stephanie's jaw dropped. It took Cass closing her mouth for her to snap out of it. They all mustered up fake (but surprisingly convincing) cheers and congratulations for them, yet as soon as Dick left, pulling Kory to his room, hell broke loose.

"I THOUGHT SHIT WAS GOOD WITH YN" screamed Steph

"We were almost there..." said Duke

"I knew something like this would happen cause of Kory's urgency to have Dick back with the Titans" muttered Jason

"And his urgency to leave" agreed Tim

"I have to warn Yn, she's supposed to fly here tomorrow" said Barbara hurridly and left to call YN

"he is running away from how he feels" seethed Damian and everyone stopped. No one had thought about that. "The coward slips back to comfortable because he won't face them!" continued Damian highly displeased and everyone sighed. These were going to be some tiresome weeks. And exhausting they were. They had missed Yn more than ever. Dick was unbearable, flaunting his relationship, excessive PDA and flirting, always mentioning Kory, they were sick of it. They decided to host another meeting in honor of the new...obstacle....

"Yn and Kory have never met face to face" muttered Barbara and everyone looked at her shocked. "WHAT?!" let out half of them and Barbara nodded, "They have heard of each other but never met face to face. With Kory always in Jump City and Yn alternating between NYC and Gotham, their paths never crossed. So, brace yourselves. I don't even know how shit will go down." Oh, what a mess did they find themsleves in.

Everyone had slipped into a routine of being cordial and kind to Kory, they weren't going to treat the girl bad just because they had an obvious bias, please, they weren't savages. Everyone except Damian. His bias was clear. Plus his lack of people skills came to play. He would answer drily, sometimes only giving a nod to her. He would only spend time with Dick if he was alone. He was not pleased because his mission was ALMOST there and now backtracked by a lot. He was anxious for Yn's return. It was definitely because of his mission and not because he had started to develop a similar attachment to the one he had with Dick with her. Obviously NOT. He did NOT start seeing her as a sister, that is preposterous to even assume. Safe to say, Damian was grumpier than normal. When his father sent a message to Diana, asking Yn to come back urgently, he had been relieved. She would be back.

Now, standing next to his siblings and Kory, they were discussing their next move. They had gotten sight of the poison in one of Penguin's clubs and noticed this could possibly be a bigger threat than they had thought. Not only were Riddler and Scarecrow involved, but now Penguin was added to the mix. They needed to work fast to gain the upper hand and it was proving difficult with a certain scientist gone. They were all suggesting strategies on what to do next and Kory would try to give her input every once in a while. At first, it didn't bother anyone, but then they started to get angsty. It was a common unspoken law amongst heroes that when working in Gotham, ALWAYS LET THE BATS LEAD AND JUST FOLLOW. As a matter of fact, it was known that when working in a city that's not yours, let the residents have the lead and give input when asked. After all, who knew their villains better than the locals. They understood she was trying to be helpful but it was interrupting more than actually helpful. They were holding back for the sake of not being mean to Dick's partner and their guest (Alfred always taught them good hosting manners). Yet, unlike the others, Damian's patience had run out. "Would you quit it" he said drily after another one of Kory's (unhelpful) inputs. Kory's eyes widened and Bruce and Dick went to reprimand him, but he stood his ground, "These are not your criminals, so I would find it most helpful if you remained quiet." They had all widened their eyes. Dick once again turned to scold him, but again, Damian was having none of it. "Grayson, she is a guest. Not a regular, I think we can manage just fine" Just as Dick went to scold him once again the sound of someone arriving by the Zeta Tuve was heard.

The Last Hours Fashion Pt 2

Chain of Thorns comes out TOMORROW!!!! Just in time, here’s my analysis of the official art by @nicole.deal.art in terms of historical accuracy. I’ve already reviewed the girls’ outfits, so now it’s time for the guys!

There aren’t as many primary sources available for Edwardian menswear, and men’s fashion in general tends to change less from era to era. Men’s business and formalwear has stayed basically the same shape for the past 130 years. Keeping that in mind, let’s look at some of these pictures and see how well they hold up.

James

James looks pretty good! The picture looks like it’s at night, so he’s probably wearing evening dress. The high collar and cravat is a distinctly Edwardian style, as seen in the outfit on the right here:

This guy is also wearing a wrap-around waistcoat in a similar style to James’. To make it really accurate, he’d be wearing a hat and jacket, but this picture is obviously showing a fight scene so I can imagine that he lost both at some point. If we’re being really pedantic, James’ hair should also be a bit shorter, but I appreciate that a haircut is probably not high on his list of priorities right now.

Accuracy: 8/10

Matthew

Matthew is a self-described bohemian, and is also very concerned with fashion, so we can expect his clothes to be a bit more colourful and decorated than was possibly the norm. This is also at night, so eveningwear again. It looks like he’s wearing a tailcoat— if you look closely, the cut is similar to the ones in this picture from 1904:

The slight problem with eveningwear is that every source I’ve found suggests that Edwardian evening dress for men was almost exclusively black-and-white tuxedos. In fact, menswear from this time was pretty boring in terms of colour. However, Matthew is, as mentioned, a bohemian, and textually wears very colourful clothing. Same issues as James re: hat and hair, but I can justify it the same way as with James.

And some pictures of cravats for comparison:

The gloves are also interesting. Evening gloves were almost always white, whereas these are dark grey, but I’m prepared to believe they’re either Shadowhunter fighting gloves or worn for warmth in the street after a party.

Accuracy: 7/10

Thomas and Alastair

They’re wearing Shadowhunter gear, which there are obviously no historical references for, so I can’t really analyse it. I’m interested in how their gear differs— Thomas’ seems to be mostly leather, whereas Alastair appears to be wearing a vaguely Georgian puffy white shirt with metal throat, shoulder and wrist guards. We don’t have very many canon images of Shadowhunter gear, so it’s interesting to look at.

On a side not, Cassie said on her Instagram that this picture is of them in an abandoned Paddington Station. I’ve been to Paddington, and the background looks absolutely spot on. Kudos to the artist!

Accuracy: 10/10 just for the background.

Jesse

I don’t have very much to say about this one. The shirt is pretty generic but the trousers are interesting. The distinctive front flap with the two buttons isn’t a style you see with the Edwardians, who have moved on to someone more resembling the modern fly. And yes, I googled “how did the Edwardians fasten their trousers” to find this information. Jesse’s trousers more resemble Regency breeches, as you can see in this pictures:

This is interesting, considering the links I drew between Grace’s dress and Regency fashion in my last post. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow if my time travel theory was correct!

The jacket looks like a fairly Edwardian standard coat with the sleeves rolled up. Not much to say except that the deep green colour is possibly slightly unrealistic but it’s a tiny thing.

Accuracy: 6/10

Christopher

Christopher’s hard at work in his lab, and accordingly isn’t wearing fancy clothes. Like Jesse, this is a fairly basic trousers and shirt ensemble that fits pretty well with the period.

Things get interesting when we start looking at the apron and goggles. PPE (personal protective equipment) isn’t strictly fashion, so I had to do a bit more digging into this one as it’s not an area I knew much about.

The goggles could be period inaccurate, depending on how you look at it. The first form of eye protection for welding was developed by the inventor Powell Johnson in 1880. Johnson called his invention “eye protectors” and it was simply two strips of opaque cloth that could be seen through while still offering some protection.

Safety glass— glass coated in plastic to prevent shattering— was invented by Edouard Benedictus in 1903, when TLH is set. However, it wasn’t until 1909 that the first safety glasses were invented by Julius King. So Christopher’s eyewear is about six years ahead of its time. On the other hand, it’s entirely possible that Shadowhunters— probably the Iron Sisters in particular— were using protective eyewear before mundanes and Christopher is simply adopting the technology. But if we’re going by a purely historical standpoint, the goggles are a bit off.

The apron nearly drove me insane because I could not find any sources from the Edwardian era that show a similar style. The best I could find out is that bib aprons have been worn for welding since the 1880, so it’s reasonably accurate. Christopher really needs to pull it up a bit higher, though. Your shirt’s getting scorched, mate. PPE is no joke.

I don't think I've shared this with anyone besides a friend I don't really talk to anymore; and while I feel extremely nervous sharing them, I'll think I'll ease that by expressing the fact that I'm not an artist. I have been self teaching myself how to draw for years, so if this looks kind of bad, that's why.

Anyways, I obviously like it enough to share, so I am very proud of my work regardless.

That aside, I wanted to detail this story before sharing everything I did for it (I guess this'll be a short series about everything I drew for it).

A Fourth Dimension Reality is a series of books I'm writing about two inter-dimensional kids trying to find out what dimension they're actually apart of. Along the way, they meet other people who are integral to their goal. Each of these characters will be introduced as I go along.

Now, as for the real world logic, I wrote this story after me and that friend were talking about how some shows that are suppose to be comedy/satire lost that along the way.

So, I was determined to make a story where that stays intact even in the finale. Essentially, this is a long shit post that needs to be stopped, but it's still going well into five books with a unfinished total of 100k and seven books officially planned.

Each book ranges from 23k-30k and no book is any longer... yet

So, anyways, here's the actual cover of the first book (I have two more made).

Later on though I ended up drawing something goofy where all the characters find a dimension that does space tours. That was my excuse as to why they don't have shoes (because you don't want to get the dimension dirty do you?)

But this is everyone and presents their personalities pretty well. I'll showcase them separately over the next few days.

For now, this is perfect showcase of this story:

“So this means no one can hear me scream!” Cassie used all of her breath in that howl. Larson groaned and went to hit her, but she moved out of the way and spun slowly in the air. “I can dodge you better out here.” She mocked.

With a growl, Larson said, “this isn’t some kind of joke. We need to do what Jax said.”

“Yeah, yeah whatever.” She dismissed his comment. “We’ll get there eventually, let’s just have a little fun!”

Larson just stared at Cassie as she continued to spin around happily.

He was brought back to reality when he felt his phone vibrate. “Oh, I forgot,” he answered it swiftly, “you can hear me right?”

Back on Earth, Jax could clearly hear them through the phone. “I’m surprised that it even works! I really didn't think it would.” He said with amazement present in his voice.

“Yeah, doubt me, why don’t you.” Jax laughed at Larson’s remark. “But I’ll try a video call now.”

“Alright.”

Larson was about to press the button when he saw Cassie still spinning around in front of him; he sighed and turned on the video call. Once it came up, he saw a smile grow to Jax’s face.

“So it does work, great.” Jax paused. “Cassie!” He called out.

“Yeah?” She said while turning to look in their direction.

“The video call works.” Jax announced.

“Okay!” She began to slow her spinning down.

Cassie took out her own phone and called Jax once more. She put it on the video call and stuffed the phone inside of her bag. She zipped it closed and turned to Larson.

“Okay, I can see him, so that means we’re good! I’m screen recording so you guys can do whatever you have to.”

“You don’t have to tell me that,” Larson said.

Cassie huffed. “Stop being so mean. Anyways, we will Jax!” Cassie confirmed.

“Good luck you two!”

With their method of documentation set, they started putting their plan into action. Larson slowly moved over to Cassie.

“Stop acting like a kid and let’s get to work.” He snapped at her.

“You’re so boring. We’re in space dude! We can breathe without astronaut helmets, why not live a little, Lars?”

“Maybe on our next trip.” Larson went ahead and turned back once he was a small distance away from her.

From his jacket pocket, he pulled out the rope he brought. Needing to be as air resistant as possible, he couldn’t carry a bag with him, instead he just already tied the rope around himself and stuffed the other end into his jacket pocket. He pulled out the other end and threw it to Cassie for her to grab. Cassie caught it and was now being pulled by Larson.

Once she was in front of him, Cassie pulled him. Their motions created a way for them to move about in space with the most amount of ease. After a few minutes of their maneuvering, Cassie let out a sigh.

“See, this is all business,” Cassie said with a pout.

“Yeah, yeah. Looking like a bitch doesn’t help you.”

“At least you used the right word, but I wasn’t trying to give you puppy dog eyes.”

They remained pulling each other in a still silence. This was maintained until they could finally see Pluto. Cassie giggled as she stared at it.

“Oh it’s so cute!” She paused. “Do you really think anyone will be there?”

“I don’t know, but if we do find someone it would be better to stick together.”

“I wonder if it’s like a superman thing.” Cassie started to talk about something else. “Like we’re stronger because we were on Earth for so long.”

Larson scoffed. “If anything, being on earth made us weaker.”

“See, I don’t think like that,” Cassie began, “I really feel like we’re stronger because we’ve been exposed to different mindsets and then we’re going to learn this one. So by default, we’ll be smarter!”

“Always on the bright side huh?”

Cassie giggled.

Also, fun fact: I'm so bad at spelling I kept writing Dimension as Dimention and I still don't really know if I'm spelling it right😃

They kept pulling each other until they were caught into the gravitational pull of Pluto and were able to land...

Alex started asking questions about how Cassie knew Exohive and why she’d never said anything about it but Sweethive didn’t answer. They just concentrated on the woman in front of Cassie, because she might be all that was left of the hive they had so longed to see. 

When the paramedics carried the woman away Cassie followed, and Alex trailed behind her. Silas met Cassie at the ambulance. They held hands because fuck subtlety, actually. It was so far away from mattering right now. Sweethive just wanted comfort. Alex had more questions but Sweethive was done listening. 

“We’re going with her,” Silas said as they loaded the woman into the ambulance.

“Unless you’re immediate family or a member of her hive we can’t allow that.” 

“We’re her emergency contact!” Or at least they had been five years ago. Exohive was still theirs so maybe… 

“We still can’t—”

“Cassie has a concussion, she’ll need to go to the hospital anyway.” Silas pointed at her. As if on cue the noise became too much and Cassie fell to her knees and vomited. 

“Fuck,” The paramedic complained. “Prove you’re Exohive’s emergency contact or you get a lower priority ride to a different hospital.” 

Cassie shakily stood. Every screen she had on her was broken so she took her physical ID card from her sock and handed it to the paramedic. They scanned it and handed it back before checking some info that had popped up on their screen. 

They held an arm out to Cassie. “Get in, Sweethive,” they said. They turned to Silas. “Get to the nearest place that can sedate you. I don’t care if it’s a goddamn veterinarian’s office. If the concussion is bad we might have to operate.” 

“Understood.” Silas started walking away. The ambulance drove off. Sweethive tried to pretend Alex wasn’t following Silas. 

“Hey!” Alex called out. “Hey, wait! Who the fuck even are you?” 

“Just go back to the Wanderer, Alex.” 

“How do you know…?”

“You’re a smart guy. Don’t hide in denial.” 

Alex continued to chase after Silas. “Okay. Then I have questions.”

If there was a way to aggressively send contact numbers to someone’s wrist screen, Silas found it. “Call Cater or Mel.” 

“Why?” 

Silas pointed to his throat. “Smoke inhalation.”

“What about—” 

Alex’s communicator beeped in his ear. His wrist screen informed him that it was Mel. He answered. 

“Um, hi,” he said. “This is—”

“You can’t call Kara because her throat’s wrecked from crying and one of the paramedics is trying to figure out how bad Cassie’s concussion is now that the Exo member’s stable. Ask us your goddamn questions.” 

“You’re kind of being an asshole about this.” Alex muttered. 

“We were just in an explosion and someone we care for deeply might be about to die. So explaining this to you right now is going to be pretty fucking annoying.”

“Screw you! I’ll wait until I can talk to Cassie.”

Mel sighed deeply. “You are talking to Cassie. To talk to one of us is to talk to all of us.” 

“Fine, whatever. How long has this been going on?” 

“Since before you met us.”

“Don’t say ‘us’. I don’t know you. I know Cassie.” 

“You know all of us. You just weren’t aware of it.”

“Bullshit.” 

“Carter’s the one who talks about artistic choices in animation with you. It was Kara who hit on your sister. Silas punched that guy in the bar that called you a slur and Mel dragged you out to the bar in the first place.” 

“… And Cassie?” 

“She gets you lunch and laughs at your terrible jokes and makes you watch fantasy movies when we’re burnt out on cartoons. But honestly it doesn’t matter. The only reason to distinguish between members’ impulses is to make a point. All of that was all of us.” 

“So everything Cassie told me about her past was…”

“The truth. She was born and raised on Earth. Her bonding ability had to be induced.” 

“Why choose her?” 

“It’s not like what you’re thinking. A bond can’t form without a pre-existing connection. We were friends and when the technology became available we all wanted to try. Because that’s all the eight months of training and preparation gives you, the chance to try. A bond only ever forms if it’s a perfect fit.” 

“Sure… So I should ask you whatever questions I have for Cassie because the answers will be the same?”

“Yes.”

“Why keep this secret? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“We told the captain and the ship’s doctor not to announce it to the rest of the crew. We wanted to see how long it took for someone to figure it out. Then we met you, and we wanted to be friends, so keeping our status under wraps just felt easier.” 

“So you assumed I’d, what, freak out and request a transfer? Lock myself in my room and barricade the door? Hurt you? Is that what you think of me?” 

“No. But do you honestly expect us to believe that if we had introduced ourselves as Sweethive you would have seen me reading classical literature the next day and asked if I wanted to watch the movie adaptation with you after our shifts?” 

Silas noticed Alex look down and put his hands in his pockets. 

“And then, after the movie, do you remember what you said to us?”

“Something terrible?” Alex’s tone was miserable.

“We asked you why you wanted to be on a ship exploring beyond known space and you said, and yes we know it was a joke, you said that until Earth came to their senses and put the quarantine on Nova back up you wanted to be so far away that there was no chance of a hive deciding to assimilate you. So yeah, something terrible.” 

“Shit.”

“Is there even a reason you’re so afraid that you think that the shit you say sometimes isn’t the furthest thing from okay?”

Alex sighed. Silas went to go tell a paramedic about his smoke inhalation just in case it was bad enough to do more than hurt his throat. Alex spotted an empty bench outside a nearby cafe and sat down. 

“Are you done talking?” Mel asked after a moment. 

“I’m not the first person in my family to love classic tv and movies. My dad is a big Star Trek fan. The oldest ones. Mainly the Next Generation. We would watch it together all the time when I was a kid. They had this villain, the Borg. They were a hivemind that went around capturing people and forcing them to join, erasing their individual identities completely. It was the scariest shit I’d ever seen. And this was just like ten years after the quarantine was lifted. A lot of people genuinely thought the hives on Nova were like that. And like as time went on I realized that wasn’t how it worked but I never really looked into how it did work because in the back of my mind it still made me think of the nightmares I had as a kid about the Borg.” 

There was another silent moment before Mel spoke up. “If you want to cut ties, or if you just need some space for a while, then go. This was a big secret to keep, we understand why you’re upset.” 

“Are you serious? Cassie’s my friend. If what you said was true then you’re all my friends. And you just survived a freaking explosion. The bullshit emotions I have to deal with can at least wait until Cassie’s out of the hospital.” 

Mel exhaled. “Thank you, Alex. Really.”

“I can’t promise I won’t still be an asshole about this, but I’ll try to make sure it’s all from ignorance rather than prejudice.” 

“You could go read a book about Nova or hive culture.”

“And you could go program a map of a newly discovered planet. I feel like those two things would each go just about as well as the other.” 

Silas walked away from the ambulance until he was close enough for Alex to see him flip him off.

Euphoria, unpopular opinion and long rant :

Euphoria is accurate, it's just not a show for teenagers but for people who need to come to terms with their messed up teenagehood, or for adults in general to understand it. It is romanticised but it is in fact the way we tend to see things when we're in this cycle, this situation...we think it's so pretty and we're so cool but then we realise it's ugly as fuck. Maybe sometimes the show doesn't romanticise it, but the viewers do. Maybe some shows aren't meant for everyone. I'd love to see a show like euphoria where the last episode the aesthetic veil falls down and you see just all the disgust and despair the aesthetic covered up, as the characters starts to get it.

(Thought I lowkey defend euphoria in this (mostly I don't defend it's just expressing thoughts and opinions) I still think Sam Levinson has troubles with sexualising teenagers (all of Hollywood really) and stealing other artists' style and art)

Euphoria seems unrealistic until you grasp the concept of toxicity in your own teenage self and feel the unreadable depth of your own loneliness and guilt scratching at your back. No really, euphoria (and skins) is about fucked up kids doing fucked up shit cause they have no idea what the fuck they're doing and they're egoist and wrong and bad people but YOU'RE DOOMED TO BE FUCKING BAD WHEN NO ONE TEACHES YOU HOW TO BE GOOD AND ALL THERE IS IS HURT. Everyone hates Cassie but she's just an accurate representation of a girl trying to extermine herself just to fit in to please a boy she likes cause no man ever took care of her and her mother does the best she can but it's not enough cause she suffers too and she just feels abandonned. Attention seeking is often a call for help. Y'all just hate Cassie cause she doesn't fit into your "nice quiet sad girl" fantasy.

Same for most characters actually. Yeah they "act older than they should", especially with sexuality. But this show is about the shit we do as teenagers when we're trying to be independant and we've internalised trauma and patriarchy and so many shit comes out at this time of our lives.

Idk how to express that euphoria characters are flawed and each of them is deeply wrong in so many ways and it is precisely the point, at least in my opinion. For me, it is not a show for teenagers. It is a show for adults to understand what happened to them, or to teenagers in general, and to warn or to help come to terms with what you've been through and the shitty person you used to be in high school, the shit that happens to you, the shit you've done to others, but also to yourself...Not saying everything is forgivable, Nate's a downright abusive prick, but it's also an interesting character because it questions where morals come from : he has no other model growing up than his father. To change you have to have a shock, especially when you come from a wrong place. And school don't teach you morals, ethics, how to treat people right. You may think it's logic, and so do I, but because it has always been for us. But see further, see reality TV, history, the government, toxic masculinity, forcing kids to kiss their grandparents to "be polite"...violence has mechanism, and these mechanisms are intertwined with the way we grow up. Not saying to not blame grown ass men (and women sometimes) doing awful shit, we all got our responsabilities and abuse is not justified in any way. But the intrications of violence, to me, are something to be questioned and thought about if we want to make the world a better place, cause obviously prison and laws don't do shit about this part of society. Nate's a reflection of toxic masculinity.

I want to read the dc comics, but I have no idea where to start. Which one do I read first?

I gave recs for what I started over here and they’re mainly what I started with so you can understand what I draw, but here are some more :) when I first started reading comics I went for shorter ones but as you read you get exposed to characters and you’re like “I wanna read more of them” and then it all spirals from there. I think it helped me get used to reading comic bullshit lol. I only started reading this year so there’s a lot I haven’t read out there.

1. Supersons 2016 (very cute and more lighthearted, three series, finished so it’s about 30 ish issues in total i think, Damian Wayne/Robin and Jonathan Kent/Superboy are the sons of Batman and Superman and they get into shenanigans and have a cute friendship. I really like these ones😊)

2. Young Justice 1998 (older so dunno if you wanna start with it, but it’s fun and wacky and I love it, 55 issues plus some crossover/tie in issues so probably like 60 ish issues, features Tim drake/robin, superboy/Conner kent, impulse/Bart Allen, wonder girl/Cassandra sandsmark, greta Hayes/secret, arrowette/cissie king jones, plus more like empress/anita fite, slobo, and red tornado.)

3. Graduation day (mini comic that is 2 or 3 issues about breaking up yj and the titans smh smh) then the core four (Tim, Bart, kon, cassie) join the teen titans

Teen titans 2003 (grittier and edgier than yj but has it’s nice character moments here n there, about 100 issues, but I’m not gonna lie if Conner isn’t in the issue I kinda zoned out or skimmed it ummm >_>)

4. Batman urban legends. ( ongoing, anthology of several stories and characters, good if you wanna meet a lot of Gotham based characters. This was like my first legit exposure to dc comics specifically so I’m putting it here)

5. World’s Finest 2022 (ongoing, Um I think there’s 5 or 6 issues out rn. It’s revisiting Batman, Robin (Dick grayson), and Superman’s first years together and it’s reallyyyyy cooooooool. I love the vibes and art. Feels very authentically comic book-y. Dan mora is my favorite dc artist Honestly . Lots of others show up too like Supergirl and Doom Patrol 😊Actually this is Probably my fave out of the new comics)

6. Batgirls 2022 (ongoing but there’s like 9 issues out I think??, features Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, and Barbara Gordon, who have all held the mantle of batgirl. Also the art slaps.)

7. Batgirl 2000 (70 issues, about Cassandra cain’s run as batgirl, I haven’t finished it but Its like a really lauded run and is well written so go read it)

8. Batgirl 2009 (26 issues I think, this is about Stephanie brown’s run as batgirl, she is my beloved I love her so much and her jokes are so😖💜)

9. Red Robin 2009 (26 issues I think?, runs parallel to Batgirl 2009 and Batman and Robin 2009, I put this one last bc I feel like it needs a Lot of context unlike the others where you can just jump into it but it is short and It was also one of my first comics so 🧍🏻‍♀️. Basically Tim drake had a solo run (Robin 1993) but it’s over 100 issues and I haven’t even read all of em bc there’s. So much. So if u wanna read more tim drake stuff I’d suggest looking up a reading list bc he debuts in the Detective Comics issues and then gets his own solo. Anywaysss so basically a lot of shit happened lots of friends n family died or “died” leaving Tim in a pretty bad place. Bruce is assumed dead, so Dick becomes Batman and makes Damian his Robin, and Tim takes up the Red Robin mantle. okay actually you can easily pick up the context when u read so nvm😗✌️)

I was gonna put more but I’m on mobile and hit the photo limit ☹️ Kon and Bart have their solos, I started reading The New Teen Titans from the 80s, Damian has a recent robin run, and I’m planning on reading more supergirl/superfam comics and green lantern corps comics so yeaaaaah there’s a loooooot. Hopefully something here piqued your interest and I didn’t overwhelm you.

Hot take but I don’t hate Cassie’s current costume. Probably the best thing she’s worn since her pigtail days since all her costumes in between then were over sexualized. I imagine her new look will resemble her YJ animated series costume

see the thing for me is that i don't hate it as an outfit in general—that would make me a huge fucking hypocrite because her current costume is more or less the sort of stuff i wear irl on a regular basis—and i agree it's definitely better than several of the over-sexualized costumes she's had (though frankly, I think since the pigtails she's absolutely had more than one costume that wasn't inherently overtly sexual—this from the late YJ era, and these ones from later in TT 03—where sure some artists maybe portrayed them in an over-sexualized way, but the designs themselves were fine).

BUT i just don't think her current outfits suits Cassie Sandsmark the character, who at her roots did not like wearing dresses/skirts and things like that, times she did were predominantly times she was being inauthentic (forced to by reality weirdness like in the YJ 80-page giant in which she is surprised and confused at being put in one and then comments on how nobody would even recognize her in a dress, that time she was trying to impress Kon and gave herself a forced makeover she ended up being miserable in that she later referred to as her 'what was i thinking?' phase, that time she was in disguise in the YJ/Spyboy crossover, etc)

the current costume if it had pants instead of a skirt i really wouldn't have any major complaints over—i mean i'd still wish for her hair to be short again, but that's not a dealbreaking 'ugh the design is AWFUL' thing for me, just a preference.

but anyways, yeah, i'd be very happy with something similar to her YJ S4 costume—again, i'd prefer short hair, but the suit design there is great. i'm remaining hopeful that Daniel Sampere will give us something good <3
