it's so funny and meta to me that shen yuan keeps scolding himself for saving luo binghe because binghe has the "protagonist halo" and thus can never die, while being the exact plot convenience that saves the protagonist from dying
shen yuan keeps expecting another beam to fall down not realizing that he himself is the beam that falls down to save luo binghe

Alright. Willis Todd being an abusive father to Jason is a trope often utilized. Comparing this version of him to Bruce's reactions to Red Hood is fantastic. Lots to analyze there.
However, I raise you. There needs to be more fanwork addressing the classism behind Willis Todd being characterized as an abusive alcoholic. In some version of canon, Willis Todd was a good dad in a shitty situation. He was poor, his wife (Catherine) was sick, and he had a newborn baby he needed to provide for. In this horrid situation, where he has no family to fall back on and no higher education to obtain a decent well-paying job, he tries to get quick money. He's desperate to keep both his wife and son alive.
Catherine turns to drugs because it's easier and cheaper to buy drugs than healthcare. The pain she experiences is debilitating, and she'd do anything to not feel pain for one godsdamned second. Unfortunately, this turns into an addiction.
This ultimately shapes the way that Jason views crime. Bruce, while he may be sympathetic to individuals who resort to crime to pay their bills, will not understand huddling in Crime Alley in the dead of winter as he debates whether to buy food or pay for heating. He won't understand the bitterness, hatred, pain, and resignation of never having enough money to survive as you get chewed up again and again.
If Jason's dad is just an abusive criminal, that not only perpetuates the notion that all criminals are evil, but it will shape how Jason views those who commit crime. Breaking the law doesn't make someone bad. There's plenty of reasons people commit crime, whether to survive, protect someone, or something else. The issue, especially in Gotham, is the system that perpetuates wealth inequality through bribes and unethical governmental practices.
Anyway, I think Jason's Red Hood is more fleshed out if it accounts for him acknowledging the desperation behind goons and small-time criminals because he grew up without other options.

Sometimes trying to do chores as a system with ADHD is like a stupid point-and-click game. For example:
I need to cook dinner.
> We should start laundry so it’s going while we cook.
Oh, yeah! I’ll grab the hamper!
> We don’t need the hamper to wash the sheets.
Oh, right. Okay, I’ll grab the sheets!
> There’s a lot of stuff on the bed. No way we can get the sheets off like this.
I’ll just throw them on the floo—
> You can’t throw things on the floor. That’s where spiders live.
…then I’ll get the hamper?
> Hamper’s full. I’m hungry. Can we eat first?
Ad nauseam.

syscord did serious damage to my perceival of things, discussions, and people's lives/identities. it forced me into condenscendingly correcting and brutally "educating" people who weren't aware of every little thing. it made me a much more abrasive and cold individual on the basis that i should always be correcting everyone on everything at all times and enforcing the same one-size-fits-all mold of "morality" onto them. it made me angry, aggressive, frustrated, isolated, scared, and it was absolutely not worth it.
with this post, i hope to help other people realize how a lot of syscord spaces manage to radicalize people into being aggressive, extremely demeaning and bitter people, by default. this doesn't apply to every system-based discord server, but the big ones where you get dogpiled and then shittalked for anything wrong you do — instead of, you know, being properly talked to like you're a person
it is a terrible place to be in for anyone, let alone people struggling with their mental health. do not force yourselves to stay in syscords for templates or decor, its genuinely not worth it. extremely harsh environment; namely the syscords where its filled with exclusionist 15 year olds who constantly pick at everything and anything to make you problematic. do not stay in these spaces, its not worth it. i promise you there are many resource servers where you won't feel like you're in a killing game with five hundred people at your neck

My question isn't "how chill are your parents?" It is infact "what kind of chill are your parents?"
Example:
My parents let me get whatever haircut, watch whatever shows, listen to any music, have any hobbies, and discuss any kind of career...
BUT the idea that their perfect, amazing, totally not traumatized (thanks bio father) child could ever be disabled, neurodivergent, mentally ill, etc. NO WAY IN HELL! HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK THAT! YOU'RE PERFECTLY NORMAL! NEVER TALK TO ME ABOUT THAT AGAIN OR YOU'RE GROUNDED! DO YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO IN PATIENT?!
(Yes, they've actually threatened me with this)

So I've recently realized that murderbot's been translated into my native language and it's apparently a he in the translation (which admittedly makes sense, because it's a heavily gendered language and 1. gender-neutral language doesn't really exist in general and 2. "bot" and all the related words - I believe they use "droid" for mb in the translation - are grammatically masculine).
It made me curious how it's been handled in other translations though!
*e.g. being referred to by multiple gendered nouns/pronouns depending on the context, like both "bot" (masculine) and "machine" (feminine).
