Say hello to my new friend
To the unexplainable wave of sadness, How are you? I have better lifestyle changes now, and yet, you visit me often. You make me feel like I’m surrounded by knives. (Those knives are metaphors, of course—sharp thoughts, intrusive and relentless.) You prepare to attack me, a layer at a time— First, looking at the connections I’ve made, Then gently pulling your way in to hit my ego through the changes I’ve made in my career, through its core. You tell me the world will never love me, and that I will never be enough. Some days, I let you consume my mind. Tears flow through, and I sit there, feeling this pain. I wonder if I let myself feel this not only because it’s familiar, but because it’s the only feeling that has ever stayed. So I wipe my tears, and I try to show up, right? I say hello with the brightest smile— It almost makes me forget you. I look around and I tell everyone I miss home. Yet, home is never a place. It is not a person. I pray I get to be home every day, And I search for its meaning in this merciless journey. I’ve seen you the most when I search for my home. You’ve never failed to visit me. As familiar connections fade, And I step into this transitional phase— You wave at me from a distance. (It’s rude not to wave back, isn’t it?) But I’m learning: The more I pour back into my cup, The less I see you. The days I moisturize my skin, drink water— And wear something cute just for the sake of it I forget that you exist. When I’m appreciated at work— I forget that you exist. When I make someone smile— You can figure out the rest of the sentence. I guess the big picture is: You are going to exist. But I want you to know— You will not consume me. No one ever will. I think I have risen past that, even if not— I know that I will. My love, My power, My value— They come from me. And I will never give that to you. Or to people. Or to false opportunities That will lead me to you. If this wasn’t long enough already, Think of this as a boundary I am placing. I hope you respect it. Because the people/places and opportunities that haven’t— I’ve never seen them again.

Becoming a parent after having difficult and/or narcissistic parents #5:
As your kids grow, you’ll realize that your parents may have sometimes been overstimulated and dealt with it in unhealthy ways. You know you were just a kid doing kid things. So when you’re overstimulated, you know not to take what you kid is doing personally, and you will make better, healthier choices.

Folks I am torn between amusement & exasperation
My mother made me do a personality test to see what kind of job I should have - the intent in her head, to prove a point that I'm in the wrong career.
Well, I did, and it said I should be doing... exactly what I currently work in.
Her response? Predictably: that I must have done it wrong! Also that my result was 'scary'! and that I need to change aspects of myself.
For what, mum?? So I can try and get a lower paid job that suits the me you have in your head and not the real one?
For the record it was literally a Myers Briggs too!

Advice for youth football parents / sports parents, Be Early not Late - coaching youth football
Some great advice for youth football parents and sports parents is to be 15 minutes early and not late to every event. Coaches hate it when your child is late. We understand every now and then work and traffic get in the way but usually a few families are always late. And just an FYI, everyone is talking about you and the fact you are always late. The team sees you. Below is a little post I…

Problem #1 regarding child abuse is that a lot of people seem to struggle to imagine normal, respectable-looking parents and other authority figures ever doing it despite the statistics so instead they do the stranger danger panic and completely overlook some of the greatest threats.
Problem #2 is that even when people understand, even if in an abstract way, that parents can be abusive they just... don't seem to actually register that as something that can apply to real life. It's just hypothetical to them and doesn't actually guide their ideas of how to prevent child abuse.
Problem #3 is that even after overcoming the above biases a lot of people have a very narrow image of what abusive parenting is where they imagine like... people doing violent things basically out of sadism and without provocation. They don't seem to think it's "real" abuse if the victim did something that "justifies" punitive violence, like disobeying the parents.
In fact, most people think parents have a right to do a whole lot of awful things to their children beyond just hitting them, like violating their privacy, controlling their access to information, and deciding what/when/if they eat, among other things.

[ID in ALT] I've made posts before about Talia/Dick co-parenting Damian moments (will never happen but let me dream) and this came to me in a vision. Took me ages to finish for some reason 😭 and then even longer to post
#dc comics#dc#damian wayne#dick grayson#talia al ghul#batfamily#dc robin#nightwing#anyway. yes im a self-indulgent ''dick as damians secret third parent'' truther#like i DO think it's way more complex and nuanced than the schmoopy affectionate fan portrayal of it#they're brothers they're father and son they're partners they're the dynamic duo except only in past tense etc etc#but consider! I'm not immune to schmoopy affection in fanworks. it compells me despite itself#anyway it's technically not that crazy when it comes to dick and damian. they hug! often! at least they did#it's not as big a leap to these types of scenarios#also talia ''somewhat absent for complex reasons on both her and damians part but very loving and loved by her son'' al ghul#you will always be famous to me#son of the demon origin...bwahhh#anyway. someone made a comic kind of like this/like a post i made abt this topic#but way funnier bc dick and talia starting trying to beat each other up#so go look at that as well#anyway. it's been a somewhat difficult few weeks so I'm. desperately trying to take it easy#i got some reading with me (first vol of kevin smiths GA run that i found second hand and jaimes BB run vol 2!)#so we'll see how far i get through those. considering there's demons in my head telling me to re-read things (LET ME OUT!!!)#when i finish GA and BB i do plan on rereading robin 2021. as a treat to myself#it's a run I've really warmed up to as time went on#I'm keeping up w/ the current b&r run even though it is. admittedly very slow w/ some weird dialogue#i read it for the damian content more than anything. also nikas back so that's neat :]#idk I have a feeling that after absolute power shakes out we might get some more creative team switch ups#so if anyone at dc is interested in taking over the reigns on b&r...that could be very neat#mine

TWST PARENTS! Trappola, Hunt and Ashengrotto!!
⚠️⚠️First of all, I must warn you that these designs may change in the future, either because the game presented us with the official designs, or just because I really wanted to change... Or I could reuse these designs for these characters!⚠️⚠️ Given that warning...
Guys, gals, and non-binary pals. I present to you, the Trappola, Hunt, and Ashengrotto families!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Trappolas it's a very common family, compared to others. Of course, Ace Trappola and his brother get into a lot of trouble and face their mother's anger very often... But hey! It's good that they have their father to calm things down when things escalate, right? It may not seem like it, but Mrs. Trappola in her youth was just like Ace, always getting into trouble and facing authorities without thinking twice… Which led to many fights with Ace's grandmother. Mr. Trappola, on the other hand, rarely started fights, at least physical ones. Since he has a sharp tongue, always with some offense or something to irritate the other person. Both Ace and his brother inherited these traits from their parents… Although the older one is a little more responsible and is sometimes the one who talks sense into Ace's head. Ace and his brother have always been close, even though they fight or torment each other, they both have great respect for each other, even now that they don't see each other as much…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Hunt family is a mystery to many.
The members of this family are… Lively, for lack of a better description, and Rook is the best known among them, and yet he is a guy who hides many secrets.
Although they are unknown, they are apparently a family with a certain wealth, many stories surround their members about how the Hunts managed to get so much money and influence in Twisted Wonderland...
But of course none that came close to the truth.I still wonder what kind of people they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mama, Papa and Grandma Ashengrotto! A very loving family that loves young Azul more than he can imagine. Miss Ashengrotto goes to great lengths to demonstrate her love for her son, even though she is a busy woman, always does everything possible and impossible to be present in her son's life. She is a great friend of the Leech family, and always gets in touch to talk or update each other on how the children are doing. Mr. Ashengrotto, Azul's stepfather, is a kind man who has great respect for his wife. At the beginning of his relationship with his current wife, he was afraid that it would end up affecting the relationship between mother and son… The last thing he wanted was to make the young man hate him, but time passed and Azul and him ended up getting very close ( and catching his stepfather off guard when he called him "papa"… who ended up crying with happiness). Unfortunately, he carries the guilt of not having noticed the bullying that Azul went through in his childhood, and whenever he can (or when Azul allows him) he helps him with whatever he can… Always trying to talk and advise the youngest. Grandmother Ashengrotto, like her daughter, is a kind but strict woman. Always wanting the best for her grandson and being one of his biggest supporters in any projects her grandson starts. Always demands that he visits her more often... And preferably with friends! She wants to make sure her precious grandson is being well taken care of!!
AND MORE FAMILIES DONE!! And I'm still going to draw pictures of other members of the TWST families, so please bear with me a little… I'm going as fast as I can!🫠
I'm not 100% satisfied with their designs... They have a big chance of being changed, but I hope you like them! 😚

I’m rewatching supernatural, and I can’t believe I never realised this before, but sam and dean are the exact opposite of what they think of themselves. In the brothers’ eyes Sam is the more emotionally open one, or the one with more empathy, and yet he struggles to make close relationships that aren’t romantic. He keeps everyone at arms distance: john, mary, bobby, cas, and so many other examples throughout the series. Whereas dean is supposed to be closed off and emotionally stunted, and yet he has deeper connections with almost all recurring characters: garth, jody, donna, claire (obviously the ones mentioned before). He lets people in more easily than sam. Even how he knows all the shopkeepers in lebanon, whereas they don’t seem to know sam (ie 14x13).

adaine has never been anything other than angry at her parents. every interaction she has with them, she is snarky and talks back and fights with them. she isn’t cowed, she refuses to back down, and she would never in any world consider being obedient.
which is why it’s interesting that aelwyn is so afraid of them. what stopped her from standing up for adaine during their childhood? fear! a cycle of fear, shame, and guilt that she was never brave enough to break through.
but of course it makes perfect sense. adaine was never anything more to her parents than a massive disappointment. she was never going to be what they wanted - by the time they realized she was maybe someone worth cultivating (the elven oracle - to them a useful political tool they could possess) adaine was years beyond wanting to please her parents.
aelwyn was raised to be the perfect elven poster child. she was molded into being a pawn in a much larger game between arianwen, kalina, and kalvaxus. she was nothing less than a perfectly obedient daughter - until sylvaire. until “adaine’s just- she’s just a baby”. and the second she showed the slightest hesitance, angwyn didn’t hesitate to try to kill her.
adaine didn’t know her parents enough to fear them, but she knew them too well to love them. aelwyn knew them enough to be afraid and too well not to love them. head in hands.

Jack and Maddie have realized something horrifying. Their son is being possessed by a dangerous ghost, and has been for some time. They don’t know exactly how long, but looking back, the signs had been for a while.
His strange reactions to their ghost hunting inventions, his new habit of vanishing from his room (or even from school) randomly, his sudden decline in grades, and a million other small things. The issues had gotten worse recently, but had been present for some time. It painted a grim picture. Had he been fighting it this whole time, the ghost gradually wearing away at his will?
No, that can be worried about later. First things first, they’re going to forcibly evict the monster and make sure that no ghost will ever be able to take over his body again.
…meanwhile, Danny is panicking with his friends about his newest foe. A remarkably powerful ghost who stole his body and keeps thwarting every attempt to take it back. Even beyond the typical dangers of a powerful ghost being out and about, its actions could end up revealing him!

Leslie, I will not forget your crimes. I'm sure it didn't fucked up Bruce when his foster mom did not live with him and only came when the school called her or Bruce got too sick or hurt for Alfred to take care of him alone. Bruce would be difficult with his meds when he was sick just so she would have to come take care of him, and she would say in front of him that Alfred did not need her for that. As a grown man, he still admits he views her as his mother figure, that's how much he loves her. And she has the audacity to say he was difficult to raise, like ma'am, you did not raise him.
