Also,FUCKING THANK YOU to make the other main slayers being actually tread as main slayers,like i think in one s5 ep tecna as like one only speak,this tell much about the screentime of the show,tecna having some screentime is very rare,musa most of history she have is bc of riven,flora is just here to be pretty and die(THAT'S A FACT),stella and aisha get some screen time to time,BUT,bloom,oh boy,bloom,at some point they made look like that she as the ONE AND ONLY WINX that's bad,really sucks,yup

Rachel, Mifty and Linsay are secondary characters, like Mirtha in Season 1. They get their arcs and storylines, but they're not main characters like the Butterflies. They're here for several things: 1) Positive witch rep 2) Giving the girls people to interact with outside of the club. The Winx don't really talk with anyone outside of their group (+Specialists, and even then they don't interact with anyone but their love interests), and thus the rest of Alfea feels a bit undercooked and underused. Rachel is a friend for Roxy, Lindsay and Mifty are friends for Krystal, and Selina? Selina makes a friend at Lightrock during her brief arrest. Someone blond.

I'd argue that Bloom isn't the worst screentime leech. Sky is. Bloom getting more screentime makes sense to a degree, she's the main character. I can live with that. But Sky just gets shoved into so much, to the point of overshadowing most of the Club, I hate it.

One step forward, two steps back. 

Contradictions, Ammy believes, are a constant in the royal court of Okeanos, reigned by House Leech. She sees it in their smiles, the upwards tug of painted lips directed at the Crown Princess clashing with the so-obviously forced ones with the rest of the royal family. The thin line between fear and admiration for the royals, walking on a tightrope set up above a tank of bloodthirsty beasts. The throne leading a kingdom with fear and no mercy, contradicting how genuinely happy the townsfolk are when Ammy goes to town to visit Solomon in his little bookstore.

“It’s a very delicate game they’re playing,” the other mage told her once, an indiscernible smile on his face. Just the usual. “There has to be a certain balance in the evil of their actions and the good of their results.”

It is the truth, a bitter one for the family, Ammy thinks. They are walking on their own tightrope, right above an endless pit, for the eternity that they will reign as monarchs.

But then, perhaps, they are already used to such a dance.

Forward, forward, forward. 

Tides’ Hall. The Children of the Bay’s ballroom. It beckons to Ammy with its complex mix of magic, simmering in the heat behind locked doors. She does not understand why, why such a room would hold so much power, dangerous magic intertwined with the air like poisonous gas, till Jade ushers her to the audience room, a hidden alcove a few floors above the dance floor. And the High Mage watches, ignores the mismatched gaze of amber and rock boring into the back of her head intensely.

Then she feels it.

The magic of the music is what she senses first first, unfiltered even through the heavy red curtains keeping her and Jade hidden. Choppy and elegant all at once, the erratic heartbeat of a piano. Sound waves, musical notes in midnight black gliding through the air; as graceful as Queen Selina, the Siren Queen, and her fingers as they dance upon the black and white keys of her beloved piano.

Contradictions, Ammy thinks again, sees the magical spark of gold and a wave of blue, Like a hurricane’s cries and a piano’s song.

One step forward, two steps back.

At first glance through the eyes of a simple mortal, one might think that Lei and Floyd are just dancing. The elegant waltz of the crown princess and the wild, tameless movements of the prince, contradicting in a special way that entrances anyone who watches.

Lei moves gracefully across the marble floor, arms moving through the air with the grace and elegance as expected of a ballerina. Limbs reach slight movements, her step light and springy as she dances upon the gold beneath her flats. In some twisted way, Floyd mirrors her movements, though much more free and less uniformed. He grins, wide with too much teeth as his arm extends over his head, almost catching the blue of the air.

The stark contrast between the future queen and the frontliner in battle is apparent in their dance... But it is too lethal, too dangerous to be a simple waltz, even one that the wild prince is willing to partake in. Something hazardous fizzles in the air, a risk of drowning in golden ichor and the ocean, and that is when Ammy realises—

This was a duel.

Forward, forward, forward.

There is not a single Leech that Ammy knows who is merciful in the face of battle. The King and Queen rule by fear, the Crown Prince following in their footsteps, and the second Prince - though he had long renounced his right to the ruthless throne - is a menace in the battlefield, does not let a single person against him leave the grounds alive or whole. Even the beloved Crown Princess, darling Lei, knows no mercy when it comes to setting those who pose a threat to her up for their deaths. Executions where none of the royals even bat an eye. That is the Leeches’ life.

Floyd is most familiar with that style. Even against his sister, he is relentless, striking and striking and striking. Sparks catch in Lei’s hair mid-air, burning the tips of ebony locks, and the pools of gold try to keep her in place on ground. The grin on his face is wide, bordering insane as Ammy would say as the prince watches his sister at the other side of the dance floor.

Adrenaline. that’s what keeps Floyd going, firing at Lei without a second thought. If Ammy didn’t know any better, she would think he was actually trying to kill her. Mismatched eyes glint as waves of blue magic wash over his own, ridding the princess of any golden obstacles, but there is no malice in them. Ammy looks closely and sees happiness instead, with a little bit of pride. Leave it to Floyd to be proud of Lei while she kicks his ass during a duel.

But then he fires again, catching Lei by the side of her torso with a slash. The notes of the piano change, more violent as the queen warns her son of the consequences of actually hurting her precious daughter. Floyd only smiles, winking playfully at Lei as he dodges the violently popping pearls that she tosses his way.

The Prince may love his sister, but even he was not willing to lose against the Crown Princess.

One step forward, two steps back.

That is how Lei lives; cautious and protected, in a way only the youngest child of House Leech can be. But she is also lethal, a dance of tsunamis and storms that rain upon her brother without mercy. Her fighting style is tantalising to watch, almost teasing when you’re against her on the field, and it is the complete opposite of her brothers’.

She leaps, barely dodging another lethal spell by Floyd, and lands on pointe on a pool of golden ichor. The music becomes more frantic, hurried as Floyd moves to its rhythm, but Lei is calm as she flicks her wrist, sends another wave of blue that makes the gold dissolve like shining seafoam. Floyd laughs, high and wild, “Hurry, hurry!”, and he’s sprinting at her, his favourite sword summoned to his grasp. Ammy’s eyes widen when she sees him, in the same stance when he kills, going after his sister of all people– but Lei only grins and follows their unspoken instructions.

She meets him in the middle of the ballroom, digits tense around the pristine blade conjured by her magic. Floyd grins, sparks flying between the metal of their swords as they clash. The music cuts off, the screeching sound of the piano bench being pushed back followed by the queen’s shrill scream: 

”I SAID NO BLADES!”

“Uh-oh,” Lei grimaces, willing her weapon to disappear as she hides behind Floyd. He just beams, easy-going as their fuming mother approaches.

“Should we help?” Ammy turns to Jade. He just shrugs, smiling with crescent eyes, “They’ll be fine. It’s Floyd and Lei after all.”

True. Ammy can’t help the fond smile that tugs on her lips as she watches the siblings run out of the room (or to be more precise, Floyd runs out of the ballroom with Lei thrown over his shoulder). The chaotic prince and princess of House Leech, the only ones Ammy knows to duel like a waltz, dancing in sparks and tides of gold and blue, ending in the clash of blades and the queen screaming, ”GET BACK HERE!”

On the another note, Ammy wonders if Jade knows that Lei considers Floyd her favourite brother.

ROGUE PRIDE MONTH HCS!

This ended up being way longer than expected, so give the link a lil clicky-click if you’re down for some rouge pride headcanons!

Most take the month off, don’t do any crime and enjoy pride, whether as a member of the LGBTQ+ themselves or as an ally

Oswald does business as usual, of course, but the lounge is filled to the brim with pride, for himself and his employees

He also gives out free pride pins, badges and flags to anyone who wants them, and helps some others store their pride stuff with him if they need to (he considered adding a storage fee but decided against it)

Usually, he ends up buying so many decorations and flags the visible pride doesn’t really wear off until around October, of which then it’s due time to replace the decorations with Halloween lest he face Jonathan’s wrath

Speaking of Jon, he is not what you’d expect

Most would think he, being the person he is, would spend the month plotting for a scheme after June, maybe occasionally going out celebrating with the other rogues or wearing a pin; most, then, would have also forgotten about his ability to store ungodly amounts of pure unadulterated spite within his lanky body

Jonathan, with the assistance of Harley, goes full out, glitter and flags and all, mentally flipping off great granny Keeny

He, Harley, Selina and Edward use the whole month to vandalise and steal from large corporations and watch as they implode trying to decide whether to be angry about the actual vandalism or ‘the gays forcing their agenda on the company’

The gang proceed to throw the merch to random people during pride parades, then splitting the rest between themselves

Harley and Ivy also celebrate pride together, just the two of them, at least one night during June, where Ivy makes dinner and Harley bakes a mean dessert

Selina steals from corporations that leech off pride and don’t actually support it, then donates the money back to LGBTQ+ organisations

Victor makes little iced pride-themed treats and hands them out, usually during pride parades, since summer and the sheer number of people can make it pretty hot

Since Gothamites are kind of desensitised to daily rogue encounters, it’s a surprise, but a welcome one

Jervis isn’t the type of person who’d do something extravagant for pride, maybe a few pins and badges here or there, but when requested, he happily helps out with the other rogues’ pride schemes

It’s also practically become tradition that he’d help Oswald decorate the lounge each June

Same with Dennis

Dennis, however, is much more open with his pride; he and Harley didn’t interact much before, but them both going ham on pride was sort of the thing that introduced them to each other, and they’re great buddies now

Dennis, Harley and Edward are the flamboyant, loud, and unhesitant LGBTQ+ that money-hunting corporations fear

Eddie also leaves pride-related riddles everywhere; it’s even a Gotham-wide tradition at this point to personally receive a riddle or two during pride

Moving on, both Bane and Waylon mostly lay low out of respect for their fellow rogues and the LGBTQ+ community in Gotham wanting to celebrate who they are; something Waylon especially gets behind

Even though Waylon doesn’t want to go outside, he still wants to celebrate pride

The rest of the rogues constantly visit and keep him company during this time because they don’t want him to feel left out, and on days he feels particularly confident, he hangs out at Ozzie’s lounge

Bane isn’t a ‘celebratory’ guy, but he’s still very supportive towards the rogues who like going all out

Actually, every year, during the last day of June, there’s a Rogue-exclusive pride party hosted at the Iceberg Lounge where all grudges are set aside and everyone is allowed to celebrate their identity

In fact, it’s one of the only Rogue celebrations/events Joker is allowed in; on the condition he behave to a strict standard, of course

Bonus:

Bruce donates a lot to (legitimate) LGBTQ+ support organisations and is very open about his support/his identity (I personally headcanon him as bisexual)

He doesn’t really realise it, but more often than not, his buildings are left alone during pride

Batcat: Every time DC&stans push them as One True Love I just shake my head. It annoys me how Bruce's other love interests get put down to prop Selina on a pedestal; at the same time reducing Selina to be just his 'savior' or therapist. She's a compelling character in her own right! This why I don't want her part of the Batfam. Plus Bruce wouldn't do good with an active criminal for a permanent love/spouse even if it is Selina.

Bal: I feel nothing for this ship, Bevie has more chemistry than this. Plus I feel like others have doen a better job explaining why this ship is so bad better than me

Lance simped for Our Queen the whole show when it was made quite clear she wasn't interested in him like that. You'd think he would learn personal boundaries 😒 Here's the weird part she ended up using him as a rebound after her brief fling with Lotor failed!! And the rest of the season is spent with how he's such a perfect boyfriend for her while ignoring his individual growth.

Do I even NEED to say it?

Harumi manipulated Lloyd that whole season and desecrated his father's grave for revenge. She gave him a slew of trust issues. Even if she was alive and redeemed there's just be too much bad blood to ever be actual friends, much less a couple

They bring out the worst in each other yet OV can't help but push how they're fated to be together. If Kai has to be called out call out Ben too for knocking doen her interests in Fight At The Museum!

Ah yes nothing like ruining the point of the first movie by creating one of the most blandest heroines in Disney and pairing her with Quasi simply to appease complaints about him not getting the girl! So much emphasis on 'true beauty' and showing how much they have in common when she had no personality. It's basically "give the bachelor a consolation prize/Sequel Movie Love Story" cliche.

I don't mind Catra and Adora making up I just didn't want them together romantically. But you know everything's gotta be a damn romance

You can make as many petitions as you want two rivals aren't going to comply to your wishes! Plus it's really shallow: they both have ice powers and that's about it!

Once Archie stopped with that obnoxious 'opposites attract' soap opera shit Sonally became much more bearable. Their personalities clashed too much for any stability

Imma get so much hate but I say it: Pixane is only a thing because they needed to give Zane a love interest who just so happens to be a robot because pairing him with a human is too complicated the same with Kailor she has like the same personality traits as him it doesn't leave very interesting points to explore (not helped by her not appearing in the show much already)

The implication that you have to apologize to your abuser for rightfully getting mad at them, getting back together and then getting engaged *barf* all it does is show that even if they hurt you in such a way you HAVE to get back together. This why I call M'gann a creator's pet

I don't get romance vibes from Jasonnie but other than that i just don't see them as a thing. O ship Jason with my si/oc Vanessa and I ship Connie with an OC (or Jeff, Mitch can go)

Amethyst Ocean has an insane popularity and half the time I see it leech traits exclusive to the Grey Ghost Ship/Valerie. The show tried so hard to push this ship without addressing any of its faults and the stans ate it right up. Otherwise Danny&Sam is a bad example of the "male lead x female lead" trope

Nothing bad to say about it - well except for the extremists ofc - but I prefer Sonamy to just be ship tease/friendship. Trying to turn it into a serious romance kinda ruins the point plus I hate seeing Amy regulated to just Girlfriend when she's so much more than that

BatCat has been unnecessarily broken up AGAIN, in the comics. After 80 years, most Batman writers are still hesitant to allow Catwoman fully into the Batfamily, alongside Batman. As if there has to be a protective shield for Batman, in order to keep Catwoman away. What do you think it'll take, for DC to remove the BatCat time limit? Allowing for Bruce & Selina to have a more sustained relationship. Is it all on Tom King? Do you think Matt Reeves can make an impact, with his iteration of BatCat?

I really struggled with whether or not I should answer this, because there’s no way for me to be completely honest and give you the answer you were probably looking for. In any case my answer is below the cut, but be warned if you’re looking for words of comfort and solace they will not be found there. I’m just going to be very frank in a way that some may not like. 

DC Comics and Tom King told us exactly who they are on July 1, 2018. At this point I’m really not sure what else you were expecting. Yes; I fell for it at the time. I drank the Kool-Aid. But if I didn’t know better back then I sure as hell know better now. Believe what the evidence is telling you; not what you want to be true. What is evidence says it that they’ve become so morally and creatively bankrupt that they’ve resorted to outright lying to their fans and screwing over small businesses to sell comic books. 

This is going to sound very harsh but now is the time to start developing a sense of self preservation. DC Comics is not going to change. It doesn’t matter how passionate, supportive, loyal, patient, or forgiving you are. Those things have no value to them beyond their sales margins. There’s no sense in hoping that something is going to come along and inspire them to have a change of heart. DC Comics is a greedy corporation: they have no heart. 

What do I think it’ll take for DC to make a long-term commitment to the relationship? Complete financial desperation. I’m talking Marvel-Going-Bankrupt-Couldn’t-Afford-to-Buy-Paper-in-the-90s desperate. That or, to a much, much lesser degree, a complete overhaul in leadership, editorial, and organizational structure. Neither or which I think are going to happen. Not soon anyway. 

You have two options here. Number One: 

When you stop expecting anything from them and then you’ll stop being disappointed. I know people who are some how able to just roll with the punches, and take the good with the bad. If you want to just be able to enjoy reading comics as much as you can you’re going to have to become one of those people. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There are bigger, far worse things happening in the world and if comics are your sense of calm in the storm and you’re able to manage your expectations, it’s worth it to continue reading. Just acknowledge that at this point we know what to expect from them and there’s no point in making a shocked Pikachu face every time they do exactly what they’ve been doing for the last 40 years. 

Your other option is very simple: it’s time to divest from DC Comics completely. DC Comics is not going to change and they’re not going to eventually give you what you if you just hold out long enough. I had to learn this lesson the hard way, and I’m telling you this so you can make an informed decision on whether or not you want to spend the next ten years of your life being constantly let down like I did. They have no incentive to change. With that said, let me introduce you to what I call “DC Comics’ Cycle of Deception.” 

This isn’t a fine science or anything but it usually looks a little something like this: 

1. The Tease AKA “Fan-Baiting” 

DC Comics/affiliates “announce” something that sounds new and exciting  or game-changing by way of interviews, solicitations, events, social media posts, etc. 

 Examples: 

“Catwoman will be the co-lead of Batman”

Lois Lane is the new Superwoman

Major character *death* 

2. The Hype 

DC begins to hype “new and exciting” event usually through increased variant covers, planned collector’s editions, tie-ins, merchandise. Sales/ pre-orders and fan engagement begin to increase. Creators engage in interviews with mainstream media outlets such as Entertainment Weekly   

Examples: 

Approx. 152,069 exclusive variant covers of Batman #50

Damian Wayne Requiem series

3. The Catch 

When the time comes it is revealed that instead of delivering whatever new and exciting story was promised, DC Comics’ pulls the rug from underneath of fans. This is commonly in the form of a bait and switch or use of shock value. 

Examples 

Batman #50 

Lois Lane dies in first issue of Superwoman 

Character is revived from death after a few issues

Story is written off as AU or dream sequence and will have no impact on future stories

4. The Backlash 

Fan express intense anger online. The backlash is sometimes reported in comic/pop culture news media.

5. The Decline 

In the months following the backlash DC returns to the status quo. Readers lose interest in current books. DC Comics’ pre-order sales begin to decline. They increasingly lose market shares and are pushed out of top 10 pre-ordered titles by Marvel.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. 

The problem with fans is we keep getting caught up in steps one and two very easily. We (and this included me for a very long time) are constantly rewarding DC Comics by throwing our money at them every time they do the absolute bare minimum. All they have to do is trot out batcat every so often in the most non-committal way and we come running. Every. Single. Time. 

They have absolutely no incentive to change, because we as fans have made it exceedingly easy for them to leech off of us. We can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results.

If you’re really tired of DC and their bullshit and you’re ready to divest you’re going to have to stop subsidizing their scams until they’re ready to make a commitment. Full stop. That means no rushing out to buy the latest issue of Batman and Catwoman kissing on a rooftop or beach or whatever. Stop buying variant covers completely (DC and Marvel [but DC in particular] uses variant covers to artificially inflate their sale numbers. Don’t play this game). Don’t buy their bullshit Wedding Album or 80 Years of Batman and Catwoman, or whatever else worthless “collectible” hardcover they publish. Put the onus on them to earn your money. If you really feel that you must keep up with what’s happening with the characters, pirate that shit. 

If and when a time ever comes that DC is ready to commit to change and commit to their stories (and actually commit; not just say they’re going to commit; make them prove it) then, and only then, should you consider giving them any more of your time, attention, or money. 

I don’t say this to be mean or harsh or judgey. I’m saying this because you asked me what I think and I’ve been where you are. I used to think that if I was loyal enough and patient enough that eventually I would be rewarded with this big emotional payout. It never happened. I don’t want you to end up where I am. Trust me; it’s not fun on this side of jaded. 

Maybe by sharing my brutal honesty about all that I’ve learned from my experiences it will save someone out there from years of constant frustration and heart-ache. At the very least you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into.

Your take on a villain/hero swap au for dc? Some characters or all characters, whichever you prefer

Gunna focus this more on villians of Gotham (with a side dish of Bats) because I love me some L a d s

So, Pamela ‘Poison Ivy’ Isley is a hero who has long since given up the pretence of a secret identity - the green skin in particular made it hard to keep one. With a strong connection to the Green, she wants to help clean up Gotham; to rid it of its pollution. Though, all of that is overshadowed by her determination to take down the Bat. Batman is a parasite on Gotham; leeching onto and destroying its residents. Gotham is her city and Ivy will not see it fall to him. Luckily for her, her girlfriends - Harleen and Selina - are in total agreement.

I don’t see Harley becoming a hero in this AU. Instead, Dr Harleen Quinzel is one of the top rated psychiatrists at Arkham Asylum. She’s compassionate and does what she can to help all of her patients. Though, behind the scenes, she has been helping her girlfriends in their fight against the Bat. She reviews footage of his actions; his patterns as she tries to help pin down who exactly the is. Though, Harleen can’t help but doubt herself as all signs begin to point towards Bruce Wayne. The guy is a philanthropist who regularly donates to the asylum! He couldn’t be Batman...Could he?

Catwoman seems to toe the line between hero and anti-hero on the regular. A supposedly ‘reformed’ catburgular, Selina regularly helps Ivy on her quest to take down the Bat. Though, some of her old thieving ways still have a habit of shining through - after all, the rich don’t really need so many thrivously possessions. Whilst Selina Kyle’s secret identity isn’t public, many have put the pieces together about her being Catwoman.

Despite his physical appearance and the fact his alias is ‘Killer Croc’, Waylon Jones isn’t a bad guy. He has a lot of care and compassion - particularly in regards to recovering addicts. More than once, he has found himself sponsoring recovering addicts - most notably a particular Roy Harper. I know this is canon already but I love it so much. Waylon focuses heavily on a crackdown on Gotham’s drug industry and is a strong advocate when it comes to destigmstising addiction in order to make it easier for addicts to receive the help they need.

Harvey Dent is far more than just a DA. He is a man dedicated to putting Batman away for good; for getting justice for every one of his victims. His compassion and strive for justice place him as being a much loved public figure and a much hated figure by Gotham’s underworld. Whilst he doesn’t entirely agree with vigilantism, he has been known to pass information along to Gotham’s vigilantes via Dr. Quinzel. He may not agree with the concept of vigilantism but Harvey knows deep down that it is needed to keep Gotham safe.

Batman is no Dark Knight. Instead, he is Gotham city’s biggest nightmare. Whilst Bruce Wayne may seem like a charming and charismatic billionaire playboy by day, by night he becomes something far more terrifying. Batman is the personification of Bruce’s rage and he will gladly take it out on any who seem ‘worthy’ - irregardless of whether or not they truly are innocent or guilty. Whilst he has been defeated before, no hero has successfully managed to take him into custody. As young sidekicks start to appear by his side, the heroes’ drive to stop Batman only grows stronger.
