best friend
feat — gojo satoru
contents & warnings — not proofread because im fucking lazy, mutual pining, friends to lovers, suggestive content, gojo being a dork as per usual
a/n — guys i’m sorry for writing ANOTHER gojo fic but he’s just so fun to write. this is slowly turning into a gojo blog (i hate him). ALSO, im actually a dc girl so i’m with my pookie on this one,,, but like at the same time i might prefer starwars… it’s hard out here, they’re both so peak. um!!! as you can tell i’m oddly passionate about all this comic and movie shit from my stupid rambling so im just gonna stop!!!
Tumblr media
you and your best friend satoru trek indoors, both sweaty and fatigued from the blazing summer heat. you’re still finishing off the popsicle that gojo generously bought for you from the convenience store, for the whopping price of ¥180 (a true gentleman, he is). he claimed to be donating to charity, with you being a charity case – so in response you simply kicked him in the back of his knees which resulted him folding like a foldable chair.
gojo was mindlessly chewing on the remains of his popsicle – that being the stick – and shoves his hands into his pockets. you were both passionately arguing over which franchise was better, and it was quickly becoming more and more heated.
“dc is soo much better than marvel! what are you talking about?” he whines, pulling his hands out of his pockets and positioning them in a questioning, exasperated manner for the sake of exaggeration and his strong opinion.
“no! no! no! marvel is cooler, and the movies are top tier. are dc movies as successful as marvel movies? no, i don’t think so.” you defend yourself, pointing an accusatory finger at gojo with some swagger.
“well yeah, marvel movies are generally better but we’re talking about EVERYTHING, and everyone knows dc comics are superior. ‘cause, you know, the storylines are deeper and over all more interesting. and have you seen some of the art? arkham asylum’s art is insane! ALSO, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW ICONIC BATMAN IS?”
“i could say the same about spiderman. and iron man–”
he cuts you off, “okay then, joker too!”
“shut up! alright, fine… one point to marvel for movies, and one point to dc for comics.” you announce, albeit begrudgingly.
“hold on, y/n.” leaning forward and wagging his finger stupidly, “there’s still more to it! what about games? or merch? lego adaptations? or even cartoons! maybe we could even add star wars to the mi–”
“enough! it’s too hot for this, satoru! we can settle this later, and maybe even bring suguru as well, to defend his case for star wars.”
a flash of disappointment shines upon his face at the mention of suguru, but maybe you were just seeing things. could it be that he was possibly saddened at the thought of his close friend being here? but why? maybe it’s because he wants to be alone with yo–
‘no, shut up y/n!’ you think to yourself, ‘that’s obviously not the case…’ a small, sad after thought. you blame it on the lingering crush you had on your bestfriend and inwardly sigh.
after the disappointed face that you claimed to notice, he flashes you a dopey grin and leans back. “alright, fine! you’re on! and damn, it is getting hot. i mean, even hotter. hotter than it was before, like previously–” he stops, “am i.. am i rambling?”
“well, no. i mean, er– yes, yes you are. but it’s–” you giggle, “it’s cool, satoru. don’t sweat it!” your chest suddenly fills with a warmth, a different kind of warmth to the one the surface of your skin was feeling.
he recovers and starts, “well, anyway…” he then abruptly takes his shirt off and throws it over his shoulder, his chiselled torso being revealed to you which raises heat to your face.
inside, you're panicking, ‘ohmygod.. what is happening? why is he stripping? huuuh..?’
he retrieves a wet rag and drags it across his body, creating wet droplets on his skin which was way more erotic than it should’ve been. the cool rag relieves him of the uncomfortable heat and he groans lowly, tilting his head up.
at the sound, you flush an even deeper red and panic even more, ‘oh my god! why? why is he so casual about this? i mean, how would he feel if i were to suddenly strip and wash myself with a wet towel? and make erotic noises as well! or am i making this an even bigger deal than it is? curse me and my brain…’
you stare shamefully at him, averting your eyes every now and then as an attempt to protect your wavering dignity.
he catches your eye, and a shit eating grin presents itself on his face, “y/n? you alriiight? why is your face so red?” he teases, elongating his words and taking the piss out of you.
you position yourself into a fighting stance, and retort defensively, “what? my face isn’t red! what are you talking about?”
“why are you getting so riled up then? i’m only pulling your tail, ya know! unless you're actually flustered?” he quipped, inching closer to you.
“go to hell gojo!”
“why are you so flustered anyway?” he inquired, as if he wasn’t displaying his god-like body in front of you like a piece of exquisite art, “wait!” he lets out an exaggerated gasp, raising his hand to his mouth and you prepare yourself for the ‘shocking’ revelation his stupid little head cooked up, “you’re staring at my body! heeeey!”
you grind your teeth, about to swing your fist at him.
“i mean, i don’t blame you. girls are crazy over me.” he boasts, making you feel even more idiotic, “but hey, i’m crazy over you too!” you halt your actions and pause.
“wait… what?” you croak out.
“you best believe it, pretty!”
“you… you like me?” stunned by this unexpected declaration, “you like me, too?”
the boy smiles fondly at you, “of course. i just didn’t know how to confess… so i simply decided to do it on a whim, ya know – when my heart felt the fullest and all that cheesy crap.”
“awww. gojo, you like me! that’s so cute!”
his face gains an adorable pink flush, uncharacteristically flustered from your comment, and he sputters out, “wait what? why are the tables turning? when did the tables turn? how are the tables turning?!”
giggling behind your hands, you assured him good naturedly, “well, just so you know. i like you too.”
deadpanning at you, “i figured.”
giggling once more, you twirl towards him and place a sweet kiss on the cheek of your now ex-best friend.
(bonus)
satoru smiles at the contact, but a burning question arrises, “so wait, does this mean we’re boyfriend and girlfriend now?”
you ponder for a moment, scrunching your face — gojo copying your expression, “err yeah, i think so! is that how it works?”
“how about i take you out on a date, pretty?” he suggests, finger gunning at you and flashing his signature goofy grin.

I'm not like the most familiar with Batman, I've only watched a couple of movies: the Lego one and the one that came out last year(?).
Tw: kidnapping, Donnie basically has a god complex, paranoia, controlling power-hungry mentally ill turtle-
Yandere Donnie with Batman-Like MC
You most likely met him by fighting a villain, chasing down the same person. You knew nothing about each other but targeted the same bullseye.
Within seconds he notices the devices you use, noting that surely someone at the very least fairly intelligent engineered them.
Once the battle is over, he'll ask about the little gadgets along with the vehicles you use. As soon as he knows you built them, he'll undoubtedly become more enveloped in the subject. In other words, that'll be the starting point of his obsession.
From then on, you guys either A. meet again by fighting the same villain again or B. you guys become friends within the first meeting (if you're also following the personality of Batman, then I doubt you'll be friends but-)
Every time you meet, he becomes more unhinged with his questions. Oftentimes asking more about yourself: off-topic to whatever the original conversation was.
I think if you can fight and defend yourself against strong enemies, then your protective trait will weaken; the controlling aspect will show itself. He wants to control what you do since he LOVES being in power.
As soon as you trust him, he'll try to install cameras and microphones within your base(?). The more he can observe you, the upper hand he'll have in witnessing weaknesses. He wants to skewer the wall encircling you: he wishes to see you crumble one by one.
If you find said spy instruments, I doubt you could find out who is guilty. The details are too mundane to discover who it is. Which again is him attempting to break you down.
He'll try to make you so paranoid that you can't help but eventually break down. When you do, he'll finally kidnap you. He's done it, he broke through the defences.
And well, once you're kidnapped, you succumb to a tight system of guidelines. He doesn't want you doing anything that isn't approved by him; after all, he is the superior one now.
Maybe you should have never trusted him.

Lego movies will forever reign superior than any other movie. They are so effortlessly perfect and comedically genius. Everything about them scratches my brain in the best way possible . I want the lego batman movie injected into my veins, flowing through my bloodstream 24/7 . Without lego movies, I am but a pitifull shadow of the dreary being I once was

Hi. I'm bored right now... so. I'm going to rate my favorite movies, and put pretty long explanations why. Do not question why some of those movies are on here, I just really enjoyed them. <3
Little Women (2019)
this movie is one I've watched numerous times. So much so that I've lost count of how much I have, don't get me wrong I love the 1994 version as well, it's just that this movie was the first one I watched. It introduced me to well... Little Women. And it overall brings me a lot of joy, as well as sadness, and comfort. I love the way the story is told, I love the March sisters, and Laurie too. And importantly how it taught me so many different things, from all four sister's perspectives, and along with each individual character outside the four sisters as well. I just love the story so much, that I don't think I can fit it all in one post. I just can't.
2. Mamma Mia!
Okay. So this is another movie I've watched more than several times. This is a movie I look to whenever I just need to feel good, or at least have some temporary source of happiness. I'm a really big fan of Abba. So when I found out that they made a movie that's soundtrack is just.. Abba. I was beyond happy. And I watched it immediately, and I absolutely loved it. It just gave me an aspiration to move to an island in greece, and sing Abba songs that somehow correlates with everything, all day.
3. The Lego Batman Movie
Okay. So. I watched that movie for the first time when I was staying at my aunt's place since my dad lived there too since my mom didn't want him here anymore. And I had these two nephews that were around my age, and they really liked a lot of I guess you could say.. Boyish...? things. Just some stuff that are usually targeted towards a male/little boy audience. And they liked that movie, a lot. A lot. And we probably watched it twice, and it was the best lego themed movie I've ever watched. It was just amazing, Alfred is amazing. I love all of them so much, and the bromance between batman and the joker— amazing. That movies has the best joker ever. EVER. he's underrated. Lego Batman Movie Joker>>>>>
4. Star Wars Attack of the clones
Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin. Padme and Anakin.
5. The Emperor's New Groove
Okay so. As a kid until now, I thought that this was peak comedy (it still is). Kuzco's sense of humour is superior, I want it. No. I need it. The amount of times I asked my sister to watch this with me is probably more than I can count. Also. Kronk. Kronk is me, Me is Kronk. I just love this movie. Yzma is an icon. If i was a villain I want to be her, but with the right henchman, or no henchman at all. She's just an icon.

can we talk about the fact that the Lego Batman movie (in my opinion the greatest batman movie of all times and the only one deserving of acknowledgment) is literally crack and meant to be funny and not philosophical angsty shit like Batman 2008 or stuff like that AND YET it’s still the one with the most deep and profound meaning? like, batman literally in this movie says “sometimes losing people is part of life. but that doesn’t mean you stop letting them in.” and???? i??? this is the best character growth for batman i’ve seen on screen???? the other movies focus on the dark and angst and the white male rage n shit but this movie???? i??? adore????? this??? movie????

2022 MOVIE OF THE WEEK #7
Tumblr media
suicide squad. the first one, which like this poster, had far too much jared leto in it. basically i only watched this one because i wanted to watch the next one, even though i’d heard the only good parts of this one were will smith and margot robbie. and since my best friend wanted to see it, too, i knew we could complain our way through it so it wouldn’t be that bad.
it...actually wasn’t that bad? or at least, i was expecting much worse considering how many people seemed to hate it. yes, jared leto is a terrible joker and makes me feel defensive of the character’s legacy even though he’s not a character i care about that much. yes, birds of prey is the far superior incarnation of harley quinn and the whole movie felt racist and misogynistic as fuck.
it wasn’t in any way my favorite DC movie, but it also could’ve been worse. we did manage to watch all of it, for example. and deadshot and harley quinn really were good! i so badly want a whole movie of just them.
david harbour was also a nice surprise. as my current living Bipolar Hero i adore him and keep coming across him in little bit roles and thinking, you’ve been doing better for yourself careerwise than i realized! obviously he’d made his way into the MCU, i was happy for him about that, but i didn’t know until recent movie nights that he was also in this and one of the james bond movies years ago.
as for the plot of this one? they really threw too many characters together to give any of them the attention they deserved, which wouldn’t have mattered except they kept bringing up tiny slices of their backstories and leaving the rest unanswered. i went so far as to look up one of the squad’s comic history, trying to understand what was happening, only to learn that his character’s movie plot wasn’t related to any comic version of him--so they recreated his backstory for the movie and saw no need to further fill it in! frustrating.
i found the whole backfiring idea of ‘how to counter a new threat’ by a secretive government agency believable enough though. but the tie in moments to batman, even though they were small, just annoyed me. like, an unreasonable amount. i think it’s because i don’t love the MCU, so i wish the DC movies didn’t need to try and also be an interconnected universe--birds of prey was beyond that! which is why it’s my fave! ben affleck wouldn’t have made an ounce of sense showing his face there, and that’s as it should be.
this may be the first movie i’ve ever come across that had a bad soundtrack that was bad because the songs were good. like, most of its songs were ones that i love, or at least nostalgically enjoy...but pretty much none of them fit the moments/scenes they were used in, and they weren’t ‘a jarring contrast to set a tone’ or anything either. they were just songs that felt wrong and it didn’t seem like the movie knew that.
i feel like the death rate was much lower than i expected given the plot and the world it’s set in--for the squad, i mean. the death rate for civilians was so high! poor gotham.
overall i’m glad i watched it but don’t need to again, and i like knowing who the villains are, since i got gifted the lego dc villains game and barely knew who any of them were before. i’m really excited for peacemaker and the suicide squad so this was worth watching to get me there.

My DC opinions. (LONG)
Selina Kyle is black. Fuck you.
Mera should be in the DCEU. Its kinda crazy they had a movie with Aquaman and didnt put his wife. Id say Emilia Clarke or Samara Weaving would be a good choice ✨
Dick Grayson should be with Starfire and Barbara, since DC cant decide who to pair him with. Or. Just have Barbara date a woman and stop switching her out with a son and his damn father.
The batman who laughs fucking blows. Hes op as shit and just HHHHHH. WHO WANTS A DEPRESSING ASS FUCKING STORY. If i want depression ill just be silent in my room and be alone with my thoughts.
Joker shouldve been fucking died. He is not the most interesting Batman villain and the fact Batman keeps saving his ass after he keeps hurting people is annoying as shit. Say you love him and go you furry ass bitch.
Lego batman Joker is superior and his personality should be used way more. The creators of Lego batman know their audience better than DC does
Jason should always have the white streak in his hair. Always. Never change it. Red hair? White streak. Black hair? White streak.
Dick Grayson is basically Damians dad idc.
Duke Thompson should be in more shit. Thats it.
Im 100% sure people would prefer to read the batfamily doing silly ass shenanigans than having them fight over the same shit for millionth time and retconning them for stupid fucking plotholes no ones interested in unless your one of those dude bros that think being happy and shit is boring.
Jason Todd should be black. I wont explain and I dont care. If you have negative opinions about this, post up so i can curse you out. Lets mcfriggin do this 🔫
Superman needs to stop being so fucking easy to corrupt. God fucking damn. You lose ONE woman and suddenly its the entire worlds fault. Shut up mf.
ALSO. WONDER WOMAN CAN KICK CLARKS ASS I DONT CARE. SHES A GOD. HES AN ALIEN. Fuck.
Apocalyptico or whatever. That movie where Darkseid wins fucking sucks. Animation is as always. Gorgeous but the ending blows.
NOW IM DONE- inhale. God-

I was going to rewatch a bit of TUA to get inspiration for gifs, but alas, I found out in the process that my Netflix has vastly superior media, so now I’m watching the Lego Batman Movie instead and it is still as funny and creative as ever

I'm sorry but can you elaborate on the furry rouges gallery because that is literally the wildest sentenvs I've ever read
The Batman Vs. TMNT movie, the residents of Arkham litearlly get oozified because they teamed up with shredder idk (I don’t pay 1.99 for a movie I can pirate for free in a few weeks) and they become mutant animals. I’ve only seen the clips on youtube and twitter, but
Tumblr media
Mr. Freeze, the Polar Bear. He lost his pants REAL QUICK
Tumblr media
Bane as a Jaguar. I mean, I don’t know much about Bane outside of that one weird movie where you couldn’t understand a single thing he said, but apparently now he’s a Luchador. Gotta have hobbies I guess.
Tumblr media
I PAUSED IT REAL QUICK BECAUSE I KEPT SEEING SOMETHING ON HIM  AND HE HAS A STUFFED JAGUAR ON THE BACK OF HIS BELT BANE DO YOU SLEEP WITH A STUFFED ANIMAL?
Tumblr media
Scarecrow is now literally……
Tumblr media
Scary Crow
Tumblr media
Poison Ivy finally living her FUCKING DREAM of being a Carnivorous Plant monster
Tumblr media
Hyena Harley and Joker Snake who for once not being awful to harley. If we just take the man out of joker, and keep him as a snake, I think he’d be a better person. He’d still be a dick and a villain, but a 300lb Hyena Harley wouldn’t take his shit. Why is it anytime Joker is something inhumane (Snake, Vampire, Lego) He’s much better that way? Petition to make him that permantly.
Tumblr media
See, Joker, it’s nice to be nice to people rather than yell and hit people you work with.
AND FINALLY THE BEST ROUGE MUTANT DESIGN IN MY OPINION
Tumblr media
TWO FACE THE LITERAL TWO FACED CAT!!!! I didn’t know they’d go this far for his mutant design, I honestly am in LOVE with how GROSS her looks
I like the Rouge Gallery’s Ooze Mutant forms a lot. Superior design.
(Sorry this took a while to answer, I had to grab screen shots, I could only find joker and harley ones. The vidoes are Here, Here and Here for the full fight at the Arkham with the animal rouges where I grabbed the screen shots. There aren’t many clips out cause I guess the movie is still pretty new.)

starkid musical ranking created out of Procrastination
this list does not include little white lie or the TCB musicals, as i haven’t seen them or know the shows well enough to have an opinion
12. Me And My Dick - it’s the mix between the constant heterosexual sex jokes and meh music that push it to the bottom of my list. it’s a huge shame that this is literally the only time jaime’s been a lead on a starkid show because she’s fucking amazing
11. A Very Potter Senior Year - i find the music from this show to be generally forgettable, and i didn’t care for the way the show was presented (i get why it’d be a script read because of the venue but like,,, eh)
10. Ani: A Parody - the music wasn’t as forgettable as MAMD or AVPSY (back on top slaps!), but i did not care for the way it was presented and everything being a dance number detracted from the quality of the show
9. A Very Potter Musical - it kinda hurts me to put it this low, but i have some sensory issues with the AV quality of the show and everyone’s shrieking over the actual play! thus, i’ve never been able to enjoy AVPM at its fullest with the exception of studio recordings :(
8. A Very Potter Sequel - this show has probably the best music of the Potter musicals (not over yet? hermione can’t draw?) and has quality that make it superior to AVPM so i can physically enjoy it! however, it’s pretty far from being my favorite starkid musical though
7. Starship - this show is nice, but i do feel that it drags on for a while! there are a few numbers that i enjoy a lot (kick it up a notch, whose reprise sparked a Massive Crush on brolden) but it’s not one i rewatch frequently
6. Holy Musical B@man! - this show literally predicted both batman vs. superman and the lego batman movie years in advance so props to that! if i remember correctly, this is also jeff blim’s debut and i’ve never been more terrified by a starkid character so that’s iconic too
5. Black Friday - an awesome critique on american capitalism, accompanied by an eldritch horror?? the only reason this isn’t a lot higher is because the mixing on the live show was not great and made the whole experience a lot less awesome (with the exception of What if Tomorrow Comes, which chilled my soul the first time i heard it)
4. The Trail to Oregon - this is probably my go-to show for the sake of comedy, to be honest! however, rachael soglin murdered me with when the world’s at stake, which is easily one of the most heart-wrenching numbers in starkid
3. The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals - this show is probably the only one to equally display the immense talents of a larger cast, in contrast to TTO who only had six players! this also marked robert manion’s first show as a non-ensemble member, and what a way to debut with a literal show-stopping number
2. Firebringer - disaster bisexual cavewomen? the literal best music in all of starkid? i may or may not have also stolen the proposal during the final number for the Gays in my d&d campaign
1. Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier - the first media that has ever made me care about a heterosexual relationship, and dylan saunders has my absolute favorite voice in all of starkid! an equal balance of soul (if i believed, a thousand and one nights) and comedy (no one remembers achmed, dream a little harder) that features rich orchestration and an amazing ensemble which makes this the hands-down best starkid musical they’ve released!!

Best Films of 2010-2020
I began writing You Got Crit in 2010. With 2019 wrapping up that means I’ve Crit an entire decade’s worth of films. Some were good, some were meh, plenty were garbage, some were the best movies I’ve ever seen, but they were all Crit. It was a decade largely defined by Disney’s success and domination of the market. Between 2010-2020, Disney acquired Star Wars and 21st Century Fox, lifted the super hero genre to new record-breaking heights, launched their streaming service, and entered a new golden age of animation.
In this decade we witnessed the final Harry Potter film come to a magical end while the two Magical Beasts prequels failed to capture that same magic. We watched Mad Max: Fury Road and Inception prove the superiority of practical effects over CGI while Edgar Wright and Quentin Tarantino showed off their writing and action chops in Baby Driver and Django Unchained. Get Out proved what the horror genre can do if given enough thought and consideration, while Deadpool proved an R rating isn’t something for studios to fear.
Below is my list of the best films of the decade in no particular order (though some are grouped together by genre/studio). The five WORST films of the decade are listed at the bottom. Films in bold are films that I think are particularly fantastic and deserve your immediate attention. Enjoy.

So i saw Matpat’s latest video about shared universes (starting with Doom and somehow connecting it with Kingdom Hearts) and my crazy brain thought it would be a good idea to expand it even FURTHER all because he used Spider-Man to connect to Thanos in Fortnite (yes seriously)
So behold, all the shit i had to go through to make connections to everything i can find and think of
So since all Spider-Mans are in one multiverse, that means all versions of Spider-Man are canon, so let's look at two cases of alternate Spider-Mans. Theres the Japanese Spider-Man, which was created by Toei as a collab by Marvel, Toei also created Super Sentai, which has connections to Kamen Rider (Super Hero Taisen), Metal Hero (some crossover movies), and obviously Power Rangers. Power Rangers had a crossover with TMNT, which has connections to not only other versions of TMNT but also other series like Batman (basically the whole DC universe is involved), Archie, X-Files, Ghostbusters, Rabbids (they were an extra character in a fighting game, as like a promotion for the new game), and all the toons that showed up in Cartoon All-Stars, like the Smurfs, Alf, Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Winnie the Pooh (which is already tying back up to Kingdom Hearts), Muppet Babies, Looney Toons, and Ducktales.
Now Muppet Babies is part of the Muppet franchise, the Muppets are connected to Sesame Street, which opens up a can of worms for connections. Some characters cameoed in Between the Lions, Mr Rogers' Neighbor Hood, The Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, Poky Little Puppy, and a bunch of these characters appeared in a We are Family music video, which has *inhales* Bear in the Big Blue House, Barney, Arthur, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Rugrats, The Magic School Bus, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Room, Blue's Clues, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Kim Possible, The Proud Family, LazyTown, Lilo & Stitch: the Series, Madeline,Little Bill, The Fairly OddParents, Zoom, AND a whole bunch more shows.
Obviously Jimmy Neutron and Fairly Odd Parents had a crossover (three in fact), but those other shows had crossovers too, like Rugrats having a crossover with Wild Thornberrys, Lilo and Stitch had crossovers too, they had crossovers with The Proud Family, Kim Possible, Recess, and American Dragon Jake Long. Spongebob is connected to a lot of Nicktoons shows through the bumpers on the channel and had a major crossovers with Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Tak, and Invader Zim in the Nicktoons Unite games.
Looney Toons is connected to all other Hanna Barbera property, which had crossovers as well (look at Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry, they're LOADED with crossovers with other series), as for the Looney Toons cast themselves, examples include Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pokemon (in a commercial in Kids WB), The Justice League, Wild Kratts (Kinda? The two characters, Road Runner and Wild E. Coyote, were pretty much referenced as a way to say that real life coyotes can catch up to road runners), and The Amazing World of Gumball. And Pokemon had a crossover game with Nobunaga's Ambition called Pokemon Conquest. AND Ducktales is connected to Darkwing Duck and the same goes with the reboot.
Okay now back to where we started, Power Rangers had a crossover episode with Masked Rider, which is an adaptation of Kamen Rider Black RX, Kamen Rider had a FEW crossovers with other series, like Crayon Shin-chan, Pac-Man, Osomatsu-San, Hello Kitty, Pretty Cure, and a few others. Pretty Cure only had crossovers with itself but there is one pic floating around the internet showing one of the Cures standing in front of Arresterdramon Superior Mode, so it might hint to a commercial happening during that time. Hello Kitty has a ton of crossovers with different series, such as Sonic, Cookie Run, Pac-Man, Puzzles and Dragons, Doraemon, Yokai Watch, and several others. In Osomatsu-San Hesokuri Wars, they have costumes/sets of the six brothers being yokai, magical girls, monsters, angels, knights, super heroes, greek
gods, and others. Yokai is also connected to Yokai Watch, which has it's own crossovers with other series, like Final Fantasy, Terminator, Inazuma Eleven (which had commercials that crossed over with Despicable Me), The Seven Deadly Sins, Detective Conan, Hello Kitty (which brings this back to Hello Kitty and its crossovers), Inuyasha, Professor Layton, and several others. Professor Layton had a crossover game with Ace Attorney, which has many references and a small amount of crossovers.
Now let's move on to another Spider-Man, the one from Ultimate Spider-Man, obviously he's connected to the other Marvel shows that take place in that universe, but Spider-Man had crossover episodes/specials with Phineas and Ferb and Jessie, Jessie having connections with other Disney Sit-com shows like Austin and Ally, Good Luck Charlie, Liv and Maddie, and a few others, HOWEVER Mr. Moseby from the Suite Life of Zach and Cody appeared in one episode, which means that Jessie is in the same universe as That's So Raven, Hannah Montanna, Cory in the House (yeah yeah yeah, i can hear the anime memes from a mile away -_-), and Wizards of the Waverly Place. Phineas and Ferb also had crossover specials/episodes with Star Wars and Milo Murphy's Law, Star Wars has many crossovers and references in other shows, like the Muppets, Seasame Street, Captain N, Mario (in that old Mario cartoon episode where they parodied it), Putt-Putt, Megaman, Duke Nukem, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Dragon Ball, Transformers, Metal Gear, Angry Birds, Lego, Club Penguin, and several others.
The Star Wars references were in Megaman V and Megaman Zero, sprites from Megaman Zero were used to create sprites of TV Tome Adventures, which then became TOME: Terrain of Magical Expertise and then it turned into the video game version of that show, the creator of the show, Kirbopher, did an animation related to Super Mario RPG, and had many voice roles like in Mob Psycho 100, Pokemon, and other series. Dragon Ball is the prequel of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Super made it clear that there's other universes so all of those are connected as well, and Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z had crossovers with other shows like One Piece, Dr Slump, Astro Boy, Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo, and a few others. Metal Gear had crossovers and references in Terminator, Gundam, Castlevania, Mario, Zelda, Ape Escape, Yugioh (which connects itself to the other seasons like GX, 5D's, Zexal, Arc-V, and Vrains), Monster Rancher, Yoshi, The Standley Parable (only in the demo), and several others. Transformers, since it's made by Hasbro, is also connected to other Hasbro property, such as My Little Pony (and Equestria Girls), and they had references to other series in both the show and in the IDW comics, like pony versions of Rick and Morty appearing in one episode, pony versions of characters from Sailor Moon, Gravity
Falls, Kill La Kill, Scooby Doo, Powerpuff Girls, Frozen, and few other shows and even pony versions of IRL people like Gordon Ramsey. Transformers had crossovers and references to other series as well such as G.I Joe, Doctor Who, Spider Man, Star Wars, Marvel, and several other shows, and apparently Jem, Inhumanoids, C.O.P.S, and Robotix takes place in the Transformers universe.
Angry Birds had crossovers with other series like Rio, Star Wars, Puzzles and Dragons, Transformers, Sonic, The Muppets, and many levels in their games make references to other series. Lego Dimensions is full of crossovers, like The A-Team, Adventure Time, Back to the Future, Beetlejuice, DC Comics, Doctor Who, E.T, Fantastic Beasts, Ghostbusters (both the original and the 2016 reboot), The Goonies, Gremlins, Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Knight Rider, Legends of Chima, other Lego property, Lord of the Rings, Midway Arcade, Mission: Impossible, Portal, Powerpuff Girls, Scooby-Doo, Simpsons, Sonic, Teen Titans Go!, and The Wizard of Oz. Speaking of The Simpsons, they had crossovers with other shows like Family Guy and Futurama, AND they cameoed appeared in South Park, and Family Guy is in the same universe as American Dad and The Cleveland Show. The Simpsons also had crossovers with The Critic, X-Files, King of the Hill, Robot Chicken, Bob's Burgers (which means it's also connected to the Archer Show), Rick and Morty, and several series get mentioned in the show itself. As for Sonic, he had a crossover comic series with Megaman, he had crossovers in the comics with Sabrina the Teenage Witch and DC (it was part of a Sonic Super Special comic but for some reason the Wikis won't tell me if it's generally DC or some part of it >:/ ), Sonic had levels in Sonic Lost World that were crossovers with NiGHTS, Legend of Zelda, and Yoshi's Wooly World, in Sonic Forces, there's DLC costumes that are based off of NiGHTS, Beat from Jet Set Radio, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, and Joker from Persona 5. Sonic had crossover games with other SEGA series, but in Sonic Dash, they had events that had crossovers with Angry Birds, Hello Kitty, and Pac-Man. In one of the Vocaloid games, Miku had a costume that was a Sonic hoodie, to celebrate Sonic's anniversary, Vocaloid made many songs and some of these songs branch out into their own series, one of them being Black Rock Shooter, and i swear BRS was a guest character in some fighting game but i don't remember what the name was.
Okay, now let's head back to Marvel, one of the characters that's paired up with Spider-Man (except for the Movie universe) is Deadpool, and in one comic, he takes a girl to see Hamilton. In one of the Hamildrops, they did a crossover song which was a mix of Story of Tonight and You'll be Found from Dear Evan Hansen called "Found Tonight", one of the actors from Dear Evan Hansen is now playing the role of Jeremy in Be More Chill, and in the original 2015 performance of BMC, the actor who played Jenna also played Martha in Heathers, and Eric William Morris, who played Squip, also played Jordan in The Ballad of Little Jo. And since we're using actors to connect series...*inhales* Lin Manuel Miranda (who plays Alexander in Hamilton) also had roles in In The Heights, 21 Chump Street, Mary Poppins Returns, Ducktales Reboot, Do No Harm, Looking for Maria Sanchez, Sesame Street, House M.D, and a few others. Mary Poppins Returns is a sequel to the original Mary Poppins so they instantly connect, and i'm gonna make a crazy theory of House M.D taking place in the same city (or state) as Blue Bloods and Forever, both shows have characters played by Eric William Morris, who had roles in Trust, Greed, Bullets, and Bourbon, Royal Pains, As The World Turns, and few other small roles. But one of his current roles is Carl from King Kong Broadway, which is based off of King Kong, and King Kong had a crossover film with Godzilla, and there's a short film that had Ultraman and Kamen Rider (i think it was Godzilla?? It was a giant lizard thing :/). However, King Kong was the inspiration behind Donkey Kong, which now has connections to both Mario and Donkey Kong series. Donkey Kong had crossovers/references with Frogger, Pitfall, Qubert, Mickey (from Disney), Punch Out, Mother, Earthworm Jim, Kirby, Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooie, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Scott Pilgrim, The Fast and the Furious, Class of 3000, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Big Bang Theory, Metroid, Pushmo, Minecraft, Gravity Falls, Wreck It Ralph, Pixels, Skylanders, several others, and had japanese exclusive songs in Donkey Konga that had songs from Super Sentai, Pretty Cure, Pikmin, Naruto, Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball Z, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, and several others.
Minecraft had a Super Mario texture pack in the Switch version of Minecraft, plus a Steven Universe texture pack as well, there are console exclusive skins based off of characters from Gears of War, Halo, Banjo-Kazooie, Dust, Tony Hawk, Left 4 Dead, Boarderlands, Conker, Half-Life, Portal, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and several other shows. Steve from Minecraft can be an unlockable character in games like Super Meat Boy, Choplifter, Retro City Rampage, and Creepers can be found in Blocks that Matter, Boarderlands, Torchlight, and Minecraft is refernced in Adventure Time, Octodad, The Stanley Parable, Skyrim, and South Park. And since Minecraft has Halo skins, this ties into Red VS Blue, a show that uses assets from the Halo series. And Red VS Blue appeared in a promotional video alongside the main cast of RWBY. Mother (or Earthbound) is the inspiration for Undertale, which had a sequel called Deltarune, and in one of the locations in Deltarune is a place called "Ice-E's Pezza", and Burgerpants mentions a guy named "Purple Guy" which is a reference to Purple Guy from Five Nights at Freddies. Crash Bandicoot had two crossover games with Spyro the Dragon and had references in Uncharted, Futurama, Johnny Test, Family Guy, Jimmy Neutron, The Country Bears, Jak and Daxter, Friends, The Simpsons, Tomb Raider, and several others. And Mickey is one of the characters in Kingdom Hearts, so now we come in full circle with Matpat's theory.
So started with Spider-man (well two versions of Spider-man) and ended it with Mickey, i'm sure there's other series out there that i forgot to bring up but eh, this is long enough :/

Let’s Talk #DCSuperHeroGirls
Normally, animated superhero adaptations avoid sharing similar titles unless they are about a titular character or team such as Batman or the Teen Titans. Then there is DC Super Hero Girls, which is the name of both an ongoing YouTube and upcoming Cartoon Network series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my thoughts on both shows, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
DC Super Hero Girls is a toy brand by DC and Mattel aimed mainly at a young female audience that highlights the former company’s female heroes and villains. It could be seen as their attempt to compete with similar franchises such as My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and Monster High. All three franchises have one thing in common: Their characters attend high school.
Tumblr media
The 2015 YouTube series centers around several heroes and villains attending Super Hero High. The school’s principal is Amanda Waller, while the teachers are a mixture of heroes and villains. The titular main team consists of Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Harley Quinn. Throughout many episodes, the group meet and confront multiple characters such as Beast Boy, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz, The Riddler, Lena Luthor, Raven, and Krypto.
Tumblr media
What makes the show unique from other DC productions is how some of the villains are shown as being friends with the heroes. It is an interesting creative choice that mostly serves to highlight some of DC’s famous villains like Harley, Ivy, and Katana.
Tumblr media
At the same time, it also shows that they may have wanted to highlight the villains far more than their other heroes such as Miss Martian, Black Canary, Wonder Girl, or Zatanna.
Tumblr media
The show originally highlighted standard high school or teenage conflicts but in a superhero way, such as the characters winning awards, competing in sports, romance, and homework. By the third season, it mostly became a standard superhero series where the characters balance out their school work while also dealing with the bad guys around the school.
It has become popular enough to not only last five seasons on YouTube but also garner comic books, a half-hour TV special on Boomerang, and multiple direct-to-video films, some of which are based on the LEGO version of the franchise.
Tumblr media
If I had to point out any flaws, it would have to be how many heroes and villains are shown as either teenagers or faculty members. The show appears to heavily imply that the only adult heroes around are Batman and Superman (neither of which appear in the web series). Similarly, only a few villains are shown to be adults such as Granny Goodness, Firefly, and Trigon. This situation is reminiscent of how the 2003 Teen Titans series never showed or referenced any adult heroes aside from Batman. Like with that show...
youtube
The flash animation is somewhat inconsistent. The first four seasons look relatively decent for a YouTube series and are vastly superior to Warner Bros’ previous flash-based series Gotham Girls.
Tumblr media
Sadly, the recent fifth season looks terrible by the odd lack of shadows, static backgrounds, and limited character movement.
Tumblr media
The LEGO-based productions look great by comparison, mostly due to the high quality CG animation used for that brand’s direct-to-video films and TV specials.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A major positive worth noting is the show's wide range of voice actors, some of which are reprising their roles from past series. Mae Whitman, for example, played Batgirl for the series’ first four seasons after having previously voiced the character on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. Other actors reprising their roles include Josh Keaton as Hal (from Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Tara Strong as both Harley (from the Batman Arkham games) and Raven,  Khary Payton as Cyborg, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, and Hynden Walch as both Starfire and Blackfire (from Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!).
Tumblr media
There is nothing offensive or insulting about the web series. It is clearly not aimed at a general audience. Longtime fans of any of the featured heroes and villains might find it either degrading or disappointing to see them just going to high school rather than fighting each other.
Tumblr media
It has been able to coexist with DC’s other films and series as just another franchise featuring their characters. While it may have inconsistent animation and a questionable premise, it is definitely worth a watch just to hear the voice actors reprise their roles in a different setting.
As the web series is entering what may be its fifth and final season, the Cartoon Network reboot has already made its debut by “The Late Batsby” short currently being presented before showings of Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.
Tumblr media
(As a side note, I Highly Recommend that hilarious film.)
The upcoming reboot is from Lauren Faust, the series creator of Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Tumblr media
Based solely on the short, it heavily resembles her previous DC production Super Best Friends Forever, a series of comedic shorts featuring Batgirl (Tara Strong, reprising her role from The New Batman Adventures), Supergirl (Nicole Sullivan of MADtv), and Wonder Girl/Donna Troy (Grey Griffin) which originally aired in 2012 as part of the short-lived DC Nation block on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
In fact, "The Late Batsby” is a remake of the short “Time Waits For No Girl”. The alterations made for the new short were swapping out Poison Ivy for Mr. Freeze, giving Supergirl and Freeze each a line of dialogue, and introducing the entire team.
Tumblr media
Strong and Sullivan are reprising their respective roles of Batgirl and Supergirl for the reboot, while Griffin will reprise her role of Wonder Woman from the web series. The rebooted team retains Bumblebee from the original group but also adds the aforementioned Jessica and Zatanna.
Aside from the title and voice actors, it appears that the Cartoon Network reboot will feature a completely different story.
Tumblr media
The team now solely consists of heroes, Commissioner Gordon is once again unaware of his daughter’s secret identity, and the new animation style looks far more fluid than the web series.
While the reboot will premiere sometime later this year, the web series is still currently streaming new episodes. The franchise’s social media accounts have called the reboot team “the New DC Super Hero Girls” and the fifth season premiere began with a teaser for “The Late Batsby”. It seems unlikely that the web series will continue past its current fifth season and presumably end prior to the TV show’s premiere.
Tumblr media
On the bright side, Cartoon Network will soon be airing two DC animated series for the first time since 2013, the other show being Teen Titans Go!
Tumblr media
The web series is currently streaming on YouTube. The reboot will premiere sometime later this year on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
Until next time, thank you for reading!

“The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” Movie Review
Back on Oscar nomination day in 2014, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 5 nominees for the Best Animated Feature of the year, and while that list included some crowd favorites like Big Hero 6 and more mature blockbusters like How to Train Your Dragon 2, the largest story that day wasn’t about any of the nominations, but one film that was left out of them. Most pundits and basically any critic who had seen the brilliantly creative, immensely funny, and more-emotionally-affecting-than-it-had-any-right-to-be Lego Movie had it pegged as not only a surefire nominee, but surefire winner of that award, and our jaws were left hanging on the floor at the lack of its mention during the announcement.
Despite that though, The Lego Movie went on to be an animated hit in the homes of people all across the world, two mildly-to-wildly successful spinoffs were launched to critical praise, and the studio immediately began plans for a sequel, with directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller not returning to the project as they were already booked to direct the Solo movie for Lucasfilm (which they were fired from, and then they moved on to Into the Spider-Verse and we all saw how that shook out). Thus, we have The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which finds Emmet and the rest of the Lego people 5 years removed from the ending of that first film. Bricksburg has been ravaged and destroyed by the toys of DuPlon, and our heroes now live in Apocalypseburg. But when some of the residents are captured by a mysterious new character from the Sistar system, Emmet must embark on a daring new mission to rescue his friends and prove that he truly is The Special.
I’ve made it no small secret that I love The Lego Movie and thoroughly enjoyed Lego Batman. Lego Ninjago was…fine for me, but I mostly chalked that up to it being very much tied into the popular children’s Ninjago series, which I hadn’t watched. With the direct sequel to the film that birthed them all being not only released but also set 5 years after the original, I was curious to see if the team at Warner Bros. would be able to pull off the same magnificent feat they did in 2014, especially without the direction of Lord & Miller. And, for the most part, they almost do. Much like How to Train Your Dragon 3, I thought Lego Movie 2 was pretty good – just not as good as those initial outings. While there are certainly moments of levity and plenty of jokes from a script by Lord & Miller, something did feel missing in its direction and pacing.
For a start, there are too many musical numbers in this movie. That may seem like a strange thing to say about a Lego movie, especially as a critique to start with over something more significant, but that’s exactly my point. It doesn’t make much sense until one realizes that the studio fell so in love with what worked in the original that they just decided to do that again – but a lot more. Sure, the original film this one is following had an iconic original theme song, and even Lego Batman dabbled a bit in the introduction, but Lego movies are not musicals. Even Tiffany Haddish (who can’t sing very well, as we find out) gets no less than two numbers essentially all to herself, and basically all of them take place in the second act. This not only overcrowds the movie as a whole, but the second act is simply too repetitive. On a story level, that means there’s less time devoted to moving it along rather than just using the same jokes for a little while longer than necessary. They’re not bad jokes, and some of them are actually quite funny, but that zippiness that was so profound in the original film is missing here, giving way to a slightly more elementary-style humor, which follows, considering the director they found to replace Lord & Miller is Mike Mitchell, director of Trolls.
Not only is the second act overly repetitive and reliant on the same jokes, the newer characters added to the franchise aren’t exactly super memorable. None of them leave the lasting impact that a character like a Lego Batman did on the first movie, and there are basically zero interesting cameos throughout (save for one that actually does turn into a pretty hilarious real-world reference joke during the third act). General Mayhem seems to be the stand-in for the Batman character this time around, but apart from capturing the main heroes and transporting them to the Sistar system, there’s really not much else to her until the final couple of minutes and she doesn’t help craft other characters’ development like Batman did for Lucy. In addition to this, the villain this time around (whose name I’m not even going to attempt to type since I’m writing this at almost 2:00 in the morning) might be a more intimidating presence than Lord Business, but she’s not exactly as or more compelling.
One of the things that made Lord Business compelling was his tie-in to the real world that informed the surprise reveal at the end of the original Lego Movie, but while the added-on real-world element to this entry in the series presents a beautiful intent with its message, the actual Lego sections don’t handle telling that message quite as clearly as the first one did its central themes, which makes understanding the villain character in The Second Part more difficult than it honestly should be. Most of the supporting cast that are introduced in this movie aren’t very memorable, which doesn’t bode well for a franchise plan. Even though the Rex Dangervest storyline does go to some pretty ambitious places, he remains sort of a watered-down version of what he’s probably meant to be, and a lot of that is wrapped up in his very convoluted storyline.
Even the animation seems to have taken a bit of a hit; in the original movie, it was made fairly obvious that everything was made of legos, and that was a super cool and innovative way to create an animated movie, but when this sequel gets busy in the Sistar system or with characters not from the Lego world, it becomes difficult to get very invested in the animation, as it no longer carries that particularly unique look. If we’re going to continue to get Lego movies in this vein for a while, spending more time outside of the Lego world than in it is a bad idea. Legos are fun! Spending time in the Lego world should take up the majority of a movie in this franchise, not a minority.
There is a fair amount to like about this movie though; pretty much all the original characters carry the same weight and charm they have since 5 years ago, and the story and themes this movie presents in conjunction with the last one are actually very sweet. Some of the music is actually quite catchy as well, and The Lonely Island come back again with a stellar closing credits sequence. While the direction could have used quite a bit of work, the script by Lord & Miller does what it can to keep the franchise fresh and new, and if nothing else, most of the jokes are funny on first arrival.
It may sound like I’m knocking on this movie too much, but much like How to Train Your Dragon 3 (the superior film between these two, if you’re wondering), I did enjoy it – I just find it to be a bit disappointing as a sequel. That’s the tough part about being a film critic; if you’re reviewing a sequel, talking about the stuff that worked again isn’t nearly interesting as what doesn’t work as well this time around or what works better because that sticks out more, which can make it sound like that’s all you think of the film. With Lego Movie 2, that means telling you that while what worked last time mostly works again this time, there are a few spots that don’t work as well, and that’s okay, if a little bit of a bummer.
“I’m giving The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” a 7.6/10
