I know this is weird since spiritual fictionkin are the ones most responsible for "kin = past life" but speaking as a spiritual fictionkin, the more I engage with my species identity as a Changeling, which doesn't actually have all that much to do with my actual past life as much as it has to do with how I interact with being Changeling-natured in this life, the more "kin = past life" just... rankles on me.

Because I have past lives, including media-sourced ones, that are not kintypes. They're kardiatypes. They don't really affect me in my everyday life and they're not an active part of my identity until I'm reminded of them. But being a Changeling is an omnipresent state for me. It affects so much about my sense of self and the way I perceive the world and it always has.

I'm not trying to make more rules about what the fictionkin experience should be, but it's really weird being the only one talking about my current nature and how it affects me day-to-day when everyone around me is talking about things that Happened To Them Once, A Long Time Ago. Maybe that's why I've always kind of felt more comfortable in general otherkin communities than fictionfolk-specific ones.

One time I ate probably way too many mushrooms and I could feel my trip going bad. So, I turned to my roommate and I said something along the lines of,
