Prologue - Part One (2, 3)

“Okay, Let’s Do This One Last Time…”

‘This human is weird…’

That was the first thought Grim had looking up at the dark skinned, green haired human.

He’d just managed to blast open the closest coffin with his flames, only to be greet by a human who was already awake!

“Some things never change, huh?”

Their face looked not at all surprised to see the direbeast as they easily stepped out of the coffin and looked around the mirror chamber. Their light grey eyes seemed almost…bored. Tired?

Familiar

Grim shook the thoughts of deja vu from his head, puffing himself up to look as imposing as possible.

“You’ve got a lot of nerve, ignoring a future Great Mage like myself! Now, give me those clothes, human!”

“Ah, apologies, Grim, but I feel like they’d be a bit big on you, wouldn’t you agree?”

They wore an amused smile, grinning at him as though they were old friends. It made his fur bristle.

Grim balked. “How’d you know my name?!”

They blinked, and if Grim was paying more attention he’d have noticed their shock.

“...You said it yourself. Just now? Future Great Mage Grim?”

He hissed at them. “Oh, whatever! Gimme your uniform, and be quick about it! ‘Cause if you don’t…”

Smoke at his lips escaped from his lips, a blue fireball on the tip of his tongue.

“..you’re gonna regret it!”

The human only shook their head fondly, smile not leaving their face for a moment.

“Silly kitty. If you want my robes… you’ll have to catch me first~!”

The human jumps over Grim’s head with a surprising amount of grace, and he yowls in surprise. Laughing at his reaction, the human takes off through the thick double doors.

“M-Myah?! G-get back here!”

He takes off after him, spewing fire all the way.

He finally catches up to corners them in the library, where they have the audacity to be reading a book.

“Oh? You finally decided to join me?”

“Huff…huff… Gimme…*huff* gimme those robes, human, or I’ll burn ya to a crisp!”

They tilt their head and shoot him an amused grin.

“Oh, will you really? Killing your fellow student is surely a one way ticket to expulsion, you know.”

‘What’s wrong with this kid?!’ Ignoring the morbid comment, he flicks his tail, irritated. “Don’t think I won’t! Now, take off those-“

Something strikes him, and in an instant he’s bound. ‘What the-!’

“Me-YEOWCH! That hurt! What gives?!”

Shoes clack on the library floor as deep voice scoffs from behind him.

“Consider it tough love.”

of everything you’ve seen in your time here, it is this scene you’ll remember even a hundred turns from now. the rising sun spilling across silver’s hair and cutting through the shadow of his uniform, the haze of an illusion that lingers, the dust you’ll return to—you take it in like a dream, to the mourning cries of birdsong.

the stone is cold beneath you in spite of the numbness spreading through your body, like ink tainting water. (like blood sullied with ink. again, again, you have failed again.) dark spots dance across your vision as the ceiling spins. the mirror chamber is in ruin. somewhere, a pen nears the end of this chapter.

and then silver’s grief fills your world. it spills from his eyes and down his cheeks in drops that catch the light. (you can’t look away, so it must be regret you feel—for his tears, but not your choices.) he cradles you close, curled over as though he’s protecting his heart, and you can hear it thumping behind layers of armor and skin. it beats faintly, but not unbroken. you’re glad.

you’ve never had the privilege of being this close before, close enough to pick out the shades of blue and pink and violet in silver’s eyes, to watch as they tremble when you brush your thumb underneath one of them, even as your own heart breaks. something warm drips down your face, but you don’t know whose fault it is.

it doesn’t really matter now, does it?

you were so close this time. one more try, on more rewrite, one more chance. you’d promised a happy ending, after all. everyone would make it to the finale beyond this little island, and you never forget your promises. you must follow through on this one. (it was made long, long ago, forged in glass and sealed under the stars. all of this, as long as it was only you. it always had to be.)

even so, you wish you had a little more time to say goodbye.

“you don’t have to cry anymore,” you tell him, hushed. “please don’t cry, silver.”

he crumbles a little more. he apologizes, unsteady, even as his voice breaks toward the end. you tell him it’s okay, almost like a secret, and press a kiss to his forehead as your eyes fall shut. an apology for now.

(there was a dream, once, when you were younger. you recall it now in dawn-kissed eyes and silver gleaming gold, in the cool water running across your skin. a dream, you had thought it. oh, what a dream it was.)

the clock turns, the page flips, and then it starts again.

Twisted Wonderland Time loop theory…but only the vice housewardens know about the time loop besides Crowley.

The first loop, Riddle overblots like normal, except…Trey dies during the encounter.

Trey, just as soon as he closed his eyes for the final time, he appears right back at the beginning of the year. He watching Ace and Deuce—Past Ace and deuce get shorted into heartslabyul.

He panics of course. He tells riddle and the rest of the dorm But everyone thinks he’s crazy.

It’s not long until Riddle overblots again—sooner than expected. Trey can’t believe his eyes until he comes too in the mirror chamber. He in a time loop.

It’s many cycles before Trey realizes he can’t escape it. He’s tried everything. But he learns that everything must happen in an exact order. Riddle has to overblot on a certain day.

So he acts normal. He doesn’t do anything to stop riddle like all the other times. He doesn’t stop Ace from stealing a tart. He doesn’t make the correct tart for the unbirthday when Ace and Deuce come to him for help.

He doesn’t do anything.

Riddle overblots…and the loop goes on. Trey does everything to keep it on track from there forward. Everything.

It isn’t until one day after Leona’s overblot does the loop reset. He’s confused until he see the scared and confused look in Jade’s eyes that he knows what Happened.

It’s only a matter of time after Jade’s death and the next loop that Jamil becomes aware. Jade and Trey are surprised to learn that Kalim had overbloted and killed Jamil.

Rook is the next one to become aware. Jamil tells the story of Vil’s overblot while Rook collects his mind.

They never make it past the time all the housewardens get kidnapped by idia. They don’t know what happened but they always reset. They’re so used to the loop by now, they don’t even remember how many loops there has been.

They know everything that happens. Down to the last minute. There’s nothing different in terms of main events.

Until the most recent loop.

A magicless human shows up at the ceremony. They’re not prepared for this. It’s the one thing different from all the original loops.

Maybe…this loop will be different.

Maybe they’ll finally escape.

Thought:

Pulling the belt loops of the twst cast to quiet them up or get their attention. It’s strangely intimate.

Words keep spilling from their lips in heaps, like a waterfall it’s continuous and pounding as you blink at them slowly. It’s not that you’re not interested on what they have to say but, by whatever God up there, you swear it’s been a good 30 or so minutes. While on a good day you’d be down to listening to them dog on-and-on, you’re aware that time spent with them privately can sometimes be a hard thing to come by.

So your fingers start to creep to his belt loops, hooking around the one by his back. He’s staring contemplatively at something in the distance, arms folded and mouth still yapping on.

Tugging him towards you is a gentle affair. His body yields to the force, feet slightly dancing to keep himself from colliding fully with you. He’s stopped speaking and is now looking at you.

There’s a flush at his cheeks, spotting his neck as he trails your arm which snakes to wrap around his waist and is still hooked to his back belt loop.

So in the Octavinelle manga, Yuu is named after the Sanzu river. Now this makes me wonder what afterlife associated name will the next manga Yuu have

I’m not a fan of it, but this could technically support the “Yuu is dead in their original world” theory (especially considering that this is a pattern continued from Yuuken and Yuuka, the previous two manga!Yuus). (Because why do all of their names have connections to the afterlife??? 😭)

Yuuken’s surname, Enma (円満), could be a reference to Yanluo/Emma/Yama (閻魔王), who is the master of hell in both Hinduism and Buddhism. Yuuka’s surname, Hirasaka (比良坂), is the same as that of Yomotsu Hirasaka (黄泉比良坂). In Japanese mythology, this term is used to refer to the boundary between the living world and the underworld. Now we have Yuuta Mito, whose name (when written) is 宥太 三途. The 三途 portion is the same as the “Sanzu River” (三途の川), which is basically the River Styx in Japanese Buddhism.

It is also odd that all three manga!Yuus are also in circumstances where they happened to be at a crosswalk or passing in front of a large vehicle before they are whisked away into Twisted Wonderland (though this could just be the usual isekai trope)… and waking up in a coffin… Now that I think about it, I think Crowley also vaguely implied “parting from the former world” and moving “onto the next one” in the prologue, though to be fair, that statement is so vague it could literally mean anything 🤡

I guess two was a coincidence, but three is a suspicious trend and a concerning pattern… (not to mention they also stay in Ramshackle, where spirits unable to move on also reside.)

Well, I guess if Yuu is dead then it resolves them having to go home because there’s literally nothing for them to return to— 💀Easy solution for not leaving Twisted Wonderland tbh/j

I always loved the time loop theory because of the angst potential for yuu/mc. I feel it would make the most sense for the loop would start after yuu comes to twst.

So yuu is currently stuck in a loop for who knows how long, but what happens when they figure out the truth? Or when they break free from the loop? If they find a way back home?

It would all be different. Only nrc is affected so if yuu ever finds a way back, depending on how many loops they went through, maybe it’d be like 10 years? 20? 50? Idk I just can’t help but think of how angsty that would be.

For yuu, they’d be there for about a year, only to come home and see that the world has moved on without them, their friends and family accepted long ago that they will never find out what happened to them.

Coming home to see their parents much older, if they had any younger siblings, they’re now older than yuu. Their friends now grown up and living out their lives. Older relatives/family long gone…

There’s just a lot of ideas with this time loop theory that I love to look into

Oooh yess and there's a few lil ideas/twists i also thought of to add onto this! Especially with book 7 where you can see in peoples dreams. Minor spoilers? Just in case

Imagine a Yuu that talks to the seven in their dreams/the mirror. I mean they're getting dreams from somewhere right? Something something, a deal where Yuu has to bring them intel or help them get a body in exchange for their help/powers/whatever. Them coming back from the dead in the mirror after each failed attempt to save everyone. All of them saying some form of "you cant save everyone kid" just for Yuu to say they will and try again stubbornly.

Imagine in book 7 when everyone sees Yuus 'dream' which is just them in their headspace begging the 7 for just one more chance cause they got so close to saving everyone this time and getting them their bodies back. The shock of Yuu knowing the seven and what they've done to try to save them.

A yuu realizing throughout each time loop that they are the reason they can't save everyone. For everyone to have a happily ever after they must die or bargain. Maybe they can erase themselves from everyone's memories afterwards so it doesn't hurt as much.

Grim insists there was someone else in his exclusive dorm. Deuce swears he learned this studying technique somewhere but doesn't remember... Ace knows there's someone missing in the crowd at his game... hmm. Cater looking at some class photos and there's an empty space... Characters like Jamil or Riddle or Leona swearing they had someone to talk to and they're not there...

Bonus if they slowly remember them or see their shadow wandering about. How they try to follow or talk or reach out to them but they're not there. (been playing DDV and something very similar happens there so this could be a thing in TWST too and even be related to the seven...)

A Yuu on their last leg about to attempt something drastic in their next loop, hands shaking as they steel themselves to fight at the entrance ceremony.

A Yuu who's dream happily ever after is to die.

A Yuu that accumulated so much blot through time loops they're dying from it– they're the final boss. The blot itself. Yet, despite their overblot form and all the destruction at their fingers tips, they just sit there between it all, wanting to relax in their final moments.

An overblot Yuu that's being puppeteered and forced to fight against their friends even though it's so painful...

An overblot Yuu whose final attack is to latch onto someone– anyone– to hug in their final moments.

A Yuu that just wants to be understood throughout each loop.

And maybe DDV Yuu themself. Someone that was forced to be a ruler at such a young age that they never had enough time to be a child– seeing that child in their dream having to manage a whole kingdom and being relied on for everything and all the terrible mistakes their kid self made when they just wanted to dissapear and even how some members of the seven treated them so horribly. Their magic comes from helping others and yet they can't help themself.

TWST fic idea

I need this out of my head.

Okay so we all probably know the time travel theory in TWST...but I just got a crazy fic idea and I need to write it out b/c i know i'm never gonna have the motive to write it LOL

Okay basically: what if yuu was never a foreigner to this world.

Like, im thinking of a scenario where yuu was originally a student at NRC and was just ur normal, faceless background character. as a result, he saw everyone OB and sort of heard about/was exposed to all their tragedies in the aftermath. mood in school is depressed as powerful figures are turning up dead left and right...their friends and family are devastated...it's just not a good time.

in my head yuu admired the dorm heads and OB-ers from afar, like they knew azul as that crazy talented capitalist dude, riddle was obvious Mr. Perfect in terms of his grades, leona's literal royalty, blah blah blah...

then malleus OBs, but NOT in dream form b/c he has no friends and doesn't want to "preserve" happiness, more like angry hoard dragon mode. and yuu sees that everything is going to get destroyed and awakens his UM.

"Wish Upon a Star"...

he makes a 'wish' to turn back time and go back and prevent this from happening...not just the destruction of the school, but the mental breakdown of all of these amazing people who should never have reached this point.

in my head, this is powerful magic, so every time yuu makes a 'wish' he has to sacrifice something about himself...

maybe the first time he sacrifice his first memory of magic. it sends him back a day before malleus's overblot. he tries to find a way to save malleus, but realizes that everyone is scared of the prince of fae, no one wants to get close to diasomnia, and even the faculty won't get involved.

so the next time, he sacrifices something bigger. all three years of his memory of middle school. after all, who needs those embarrassing preteen memories, right?

now he lands smack in the midlde of the aftermath of vil's OB. he rushes over to ignilhyde, but idia is so isolated in his own dorm that no one even knew that he was "gone" when his OB happened. by the time yuu goes, idia's already missing.

and yuu realizes. he can't just stop one OB and call it a day. the root problem is much, much deeper. the social pressure of the OBs...the faculty's indifference to students...and the student's own attitudes towards each other..,they're all deeply intertwined in the net that is NRC.

yuu is keenly aware that he's Just a Guy. being a background character is kind of his defining characteristic--kinda like how trey thinks about himself (even tho it's SO not true lmao). so yuu goes to the only person he thinks can and will help the students at NRC.

it's the dark mirror.

so the dark mirror is kind of like. this ancient (maybe eldritch?) artifact thing...thinking of who its original master was, its safe to say that its one of, if not the most, op things in the school.

anyone, they team up. the dark mirror's power is related to "truth". it is an artifact created to the absolute truth of the world, which is why its not affected by yuu's "wish"--it can see the entire truth of the world's timeline, including the effects of yuu's UM.

the dark mirror agrees to help yuu by giving him some of its power. they make a magical contract--basically, dark mirror will lend yuu some of its power so that he doesn't forget his mission even after sacrificing his memories, and in exchange yuu will not be allowed to change his 'wish' until he succeeds. (dark mirror's ultimate goal here is to make sure NRC is still standing by the end of this lol)

(this is also where those "dreams" will come from---in this verse, the plots in disney were actually canon, its just that the "ending" continued after the story in our world and gave more power to the villain here. later, the villains got rid of the original history and changed it to their liking. the "dreams" are just the residual power of the dark mirror which stimulates yuu according to their contract by preemptively sort of "warning" him about the next upcoming OB.)

so yuu sacrifices. he goes back: three weeks, three months, six months, nine months--and then he does it again, and again, and again. He forgets the faces of his family, his friends, even the common sense and history of this world.

and in doing so, he dies, over and over--and watches others die, over and over. and suddenly it's no longer about just preventing the destruction of NRC -- and likely the world, considering the OB's powers and positions -- but about saving THEM. Not the authoritative, far-off figures he admired...but just...them.

the guy with mommy issues who'll write personal study guides for his students just to see them pass. the guy who hides his poisonous thoughts behind a smile but still won't turn away a person in need. the greedy mf with self-esteem issues ten miles long who treats his business like his goddamn baby. the prince with the crappy attitude whose inferiority complex is so infuriating it makes even pacifists want to throw hands.

the iron-willed celebrity whose exacting standards brutalize even himself. the grieving shut-in who's trapped in his past. the gargoyle-loving dragon prince who's never had a real friend.

and more. and more. and more.

yuu cuts himself into pieces for them. he takes away everything that made him, "him" -- until even his true name is lost to the world's memory, and all that's left is "yuu". he bleeds for them, laughs with them, cries with them--and sacrifices, and sacrifices, and sacrifices.

until...

until all that's left is a vague memory of the world...a vague memory of "himself". until he's back, to the day of the entrance ceremony.

until the day of the very last "wish", where "he" finally sacrifices the only thing "he" has left -- his very...soul.

on that day he stands in front of the dark mirror, in front of the only being in the world privy to the "truth", and it declares--

"the nature of your soul is...

...

...

...unclear to me."

i have more but this is enough to scratch the itch for now so i'll just leave this here for my future self...

once again thinking about time loop ridoace yuri.

i think they both developed their own fashion style during the time loops. surprisingly, it's ace who loves the frills and ribbons. every chance she gets, she'll be dressed in the prettiest dresses know to anyone in the school and has done her makeup in a way that compliments her outfit. riddle's style is not dark but it's also not girly in the way ace's outfits are. she finds it more practical to wear pants, though ace has convinced her to wear baggy pants and cropped shirts.

they slowly but surely collect the clothes they use throughout the time loops and find a way to keep them even as time resets. they will be the coolest power couple in all of twisted wonderland.

In the waking world, It’s the final show down against Malleus. Everyone is exhausted. Grim pushes himself to far, he overblots…

Yuu, all Yuu can do is watch.

Watch as their friends continue to fight a loosing battle.

Is that all they can do?

Just watch as the people they’ve come to care for risk their lives?

They feel useless, scared, desperate…

all they want is to go back to simpler times, when they can laugh and joke with their friends…

Surely there’s something they can do?

Then it happened.

A spark.

Words flowed through Yuu’s head.

They remembered what Leona said, about old forms of magic gained from a deep desire…

Grim was over ten times his usual size. Attacking everything that he viewed as a threat. It was the last thing Yuu could see before a flashbulb burst, blinding them.

Then, they were in darkness… the image of the dire beast injuring their friends drifted from their mind like a dream.

It was so dark they weren’t even sure their eyes were open. Yuu could hear muffled sounds, almost like scratching.

What was that noise? Is it morning already?

There was a shuffling sound. Like something heavy was being dragged.

“Now to grab the goods!”

Light peered through a crack, before bursting in. Momentarily blinding Yuu.

“What! You ain’t supposed to be awake!” A small weasel with flaming ears and a forked tail looked up at them.

Prologue - Part Two (1, 3)

“Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. (Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah!)”

Dire Crowley had a bit of a problem.

Said problem came in the form of a… peculiar new student and their unruly familiar.

They hid a laugh behind their hand at their…cat’s (?) reaction to his spell, closing the book on potions they’d apparently been reading(???)

Like a proper educator, Dire shakes off the confusion to properly confront them.

“I’ve found you at last. Splendid. My, were you ever eager to make your debut!”

The short student with several colorful piercings and bright green hair smiled easily at him. They weren’t surprised to see him at all; it was as though they had meant to be in the library during their own orientation.

They held out a hand to shake.

“Ah, Mr. Headmage~ not a moment too late. Yuuval Harris, sir!”

Not being one to ignore manners, Dire shook their hand once firmly before getting back on topic.

“Yuuval Harris. Your poorly trained familiar is in clear violation of school policy-“

“He’s not my-!“

For a moment the world seemed to shift, and a wide eyed, anxious Yuuval was debating with with him. The scene was gone in a blink, and Yuuval stood before him, still wearing an easygoing smile.

“Mr. Headmage…? You alright?”

“Of- Of course!”

He made his voice as authoritative as possible, and any lingering feelings of deja vu were quickly forgotten.

“Now, about you and your familiar’s blatant disregard for the rules-”

“As if I’d serve some lowly human! Now lemme go-!”

Dire sighed, and the restraints easily moved upwards to cover the weasel-cat-thing’s mouth.

“Yes, yes. Rebellious familiars always say that. Do be quiet for a bit, won’t you?”

“Mm-Mmph!”

It yowled into its gag. Harris only shakes their head with a fond smile. Dire continues.

“Honestly… all the students I’ve dealt with, you’re the first with temerity enough to open their own gate and step out of it. Does the very notion of patience elude you?”

The short student only smiled sheepishly at him.

“What can I say? I’m ready to get the ball rolling! So sorry about Grim, by the way- he’s just excited to be here, that’s all!”

They pet their cat-weasel thing on the head with a fond smile and it growls at them, clearly displeased with the situation.

“Hmph. Well, as long as you control him better in the future. Come along, let us return to the Mirror Chamber.”

They nod amicably, an amused expression on their face- though he can’t possibly imagine why.

“Of course. Lead the way, sir!”

Collecting himself, Dire turned on a heel, leading Yuuval and their still-bound familiar back through the halls of the school.

Hopefully, the orientation will proceed with no further hiccups…

I went back and watched the intro scene of TWST, everyone knows the part.. Where Crowley's walking toward the Dark Mirror and we can hear his voice but we can't see him. In the very beginning. And he says the iconic "For me. For you. For them. The hour is late and time is scarce." Yeah that scene. Anyway, before that iconic line, when Crowley's talking to the Dark Mirror instead of Yu, he addresses a mysterious benefactor... I don't think it's the mirror itself. So my question is... Who is the benefactor? What have they given Crowley and why? Also, Crowley says, "show me the visage I seek"... I believe this is a reference to Yu, since it immediately switches to Crowley talking to us (Yu). All time loop theories aside (or not!) Does that mean he was expecting us (Yu) to arrive at NRC? Was it Crowley who summoned us (Yu) through the Dark Mirror?? Idk, thoughts???

TWST story idea

Warning: mention of death and suicide. Yuu= They/them.

Apologies if this kind of story already exist.

What's more tragic and maddening than remembering your own death over and over? It is when others know about it but fail to save you, even if time repeats many times as you go on with your life, unaware of the impending future.

The time loop is the best, a chance to pick different choices and see various outcomes until time resets, rendering all your hard work for naught. Repeat and repeat, it is a test of will. What motivates you to go on?

For certain people, it is Yuu.

Yuu, the magicless prefect, is their most beloved friend (can go romantic). Yuu's death is something that they are unable to accepts which leads them to have a similar goal, and that was to save Yuu by any means.

Luckily or maybe unluckily, time repeats when Yuu dies. No one knows why or how. Everyone very close to Yuu remembers it vividly, but only Yuu does not remember, fresh and innocent just like the day of the ceremony.

They tried to change the story to prevent Yuu's death, however, keeping Yuu alive proves to be more difficult than expected.

They remembered the previous timeline and the ones before that. Yuu had died again, whether it be an accident involving magic, falling to their death, alchemy mishaps, or by suicide.

Time had repeated itself once more, and all of them woke up on the day of the ceremony, frustrated, upset, and insane as another attempt failed.

How does one stay sane looking at the very alive Yuu when they had seen Yuu's corpse just a few seconds ago? Nightmares plagued every night, their actions have to be calculated, and words planned just to sway Yuu's thoughts so that they trust them, even though most just throw the script away.

The strongest of men beg on their knees to be at Yuu's side. The most sincere apologies and affectionate words came out of the lips of someone that Yuu didn't expect to hear it from to people that clung to Yuu on the first day and claimed they're friends.

They tried so many times, never leaving Yuu alone, never letting Yuu touch anything, protecting Yuu even if their own life is at risk. Never let Yuu do anything. It has to be perfect. Trial and error is simply too unforgivable and cruel. Yuu is too precious to be experimented with. They must be successful in saving Yuu and put an end to this time loop.

Only for Yuu to die by unconventional means.

What does this mean? Why is it always Yuu? Why did time repeat when Yuu died? Four certain students had already used their unique magic on Yuu for protection's sake, and Yuu still died.

It was a mystery, but even if the time looped, they still haven't had the time to figure it out, too busy trying to think what method could prevent Yuu's death.

But there's something they do know with certainty.

The staff doesn't remember, the NPC too doesn't remember, and Grim, who is the closest to Yuu, unexpectedly doesn't remember the previous time.

But that's not an issue; plenty remembered, and that will do. They will keep Yuu safe, but sometimes, working together is just not part of them, considering how some of them had accidentally killed Yuu (overblot, magic mishap, etc.), resulting in some distrust and arguments between them.

Extra spice if some are yandere. Would they change how they act or go insane at Yuu's every death? I like angst better though, should they just give up?

So for starters, I've never been the biggest Trey Clover fan. He's got something really weird going on, and can be shady AF. But I had a momentary thought/wild theory.

I know people have questioned if the game is stuck in a time loop, or various other dream/alternate world scenarios, especially because of some of the events (Like the two different versions of the Fairy Gala)

I know Malleus or Crowley tend to get fingers pointed at them when it comes to who's responsible, but what if it was Trey.

We know he's hiding something, he seems to go out of his way to fly under the radar and be unassuming as possible. Tends to down play his capabilities etc. What if this extended to his Unique Magic?

We know it can alter reality. What if it's a lot stronger than he let's on and he's the one behind it? It wouldn't be the first time an unassuming character was actually to blame.

Anyway just a thought I had. Wanted to see what other's thought.
