#Batkids role reversal
Text
Horrible idea, but:
Jason getting reverse adopted back to the family by Tim, with neither of them knowing
We all know about Tim's fake uncle and him being desperate to not be adopted by Bruce.
We also know that the Batkids look close enough to be half siblings. (Yes, even Duke, although it's more in the way he acts.)
What I am proposing is that Tim hires Jason as his fake brother, not knowing that he is his Robin.
Jason agreed to use the proximity to manipulate/traumatize Tim into dropping Robin.
So Jason Todd became Jay Drake, illegitimate son of Jack Drake, born from their parents swinger days.
Now, things didn't go according to plan for both plans.
Tim had Jason in an throat cutting contract that chained him to a weirdly healthy daily routine.
(Tim: You have to eat breakfast and Dinner with me. Breakfast on weekdays is on 6:30 am and Dinner at 7:30 pm. We are to go on outings at least twice a week and spend one evening together playing boardgames or watching a movie. We are being watched, so don't even think of slacking of the role and steal from me. If you want to leave without anyone knowing, follow one of the tunnels in the basements-)
He also found himself go soft for the boy.
Even if everything was just played, it was hard for him not to break into his bedroom because he was crying after Bruce yelled at him or to not just scoop him up whenever he came home hurt.
Tim is in a similar boat. He keeps on forgetting that Jay isn't his actual brother and that he doesn't care about him outside of the money he pays him.
They are both stupid. Kinda.
(But not as stupid as Bruce, who actually believes their lie)

DCU/DCU Crossovers:
Blister Pack: Completed.
Danny Phantom x Young Justice(ish) prompt fill from @stealingyourbones and @mikami1992 on tumblr: What if the Kryptonian cloning process required a little more refinement than simply adding human DNA? (Conner-centric.) Archived.
Quiet Respite: No set update schedule.
Teen romance Cass Cain x Peter Parker, loosely inspired by the Dark Matter premise. Batgirl!Cass finds a spider-thief loose in Gotham. Peter is introduced to a friend’s quiet sister. Neither are not all that they seem.
Dig Three Graves in Apartment 31c: Completed
Danny Phantom x Batman prompt fill. Danny, in the role of Willis Todd. Angst/Not a lot of Comfort. Originally posted on tumblr. Archived
Catching Stars and Comets: No set update schedule
Prompt fill, but like...my own prompt. “Reverse Robins AU but instead of making Damien oldest and going down the line so on and so forth, it’s a bunch of assembled weird vigilante-crime men and their accidentally adopted autistic eight year old rich boy, Bruce, who calls himself ‘batkid’ for reasons beyond their mutual understanding of expected kid behavior.” (Batkid!AU) Originally posted on tumblr. Archived.
The Haunting of Drake Manor: No set update schedule.
Batman x Danny Phantom prompt fill. "Tim, as a kid, wishes for a new mom. Desiree didn't know her wishes could turn against HER, of all people. However, Tim's wish had turned her into something resembling a human form and now she felt obligated to take care of the little guy." Angst, Found Family (sorta), and shenanigans. Posting primarily on tumblr.
The Health and Wellbeing of Hybrid Entities: No set update schedule.
Danny Phantom x DCU Crossover. “Adrift in an unknown space, his transportation lost, his body a wreck, and only half-conscious, Danny has to find himself somewhere safe to recover. Now, if only he can convince the locals to leave him alone while he does... [A mashup between a cryptid!Danny, presumed-alien!Danny, dp x dc, and whatever prompt made the one body horror meat grinder fic.]”
The Foster Mother: Completed
Danny Phantom x DCU Crossover. “Tim wasn't waiting for anyone to call on him at Wayne Manor. His parents were dead. The investors already knew he had nothing to offer them. The gawkers and gossips had already wrung every sordid detail about his parent's deaths out of him; but there was someone waiting for him in the sitting room downstairs. Someone had already come all this way, just to ask for Timothy Drake. Tim wasn't all that excited to find out who the caller would be. (Or: Jazz Fenton packs a bag, and goes to find a child she used to know.)“
Dead Man Walking: Completed.
Danny Phantom x Batman crossover. Talons!AU. “None of this was Danny's problem— and he's determined to keep it that way, no matter what the cops, the weird dude in full-on themed body armor, or the secret society of rich people hiding in the sewers of Gotham had to say. If he wasn't getting paid for over time and he wasn't not on the clock, then what was he supposed to do about it?? Or: Talons, Talons, everywhere, and nary a living Mortician around to clean them up.” Archived.
The 43rd Annual Gotham Academy Bake Sale: Completed.
Danny Phantom x Batman Crossover. Frostbite-centric. "Bruce meets a new parent at the Gotham Academy Bake Sale. He's, well... He's very tall." Archived.
Patchwork Memories: Completed.
Danny Phantom x Batman prompt fill. (I'm paraphrasing the original post here) A younger Danny is a clone of Jason Todd, and is deeply interested in finding family that has yet to reject or experiment on him, and tries to Bond. Dick is mourning a brother he never spent time getting to know, and doesn't need the constant reminder. Originally posted to tumblr. Archived.
The Firstborn Son: Completed
Danny Phantom x Batman. “Danny Phantom, a somewhat established ruler of the Ghost Zone, has unwittingly acquired a baby. And. Well. He can't exactly keep it in Pariah's Keep. It would be convenient to have the baby's other parent take care of it...assuming that the man is entirely innocent of the plan to sell their offspring for immortality. There has to be a way to prove that the man is safer than the home the baby comes from. But the man has his own ward. Hm. Danny can exploit this. What's an assessment without a little test?”
Lazy Sunday: Completed
Danny Phantom x Batman. “Jason Todd does not have a boyfriend. He has a dom, because vulnerability is for chumps and Jason's playing it to win. It doesn't matter that Foley likes picking soft clothes for him, or eating breakfast together, or sharing chores— look, he's only here to get hypnotized straight out of his trauma-induced cycle of self-punishment, okay?? The blow jobs are just necessary to hit that end goal! That's all!” E rated Tucker/Jason Domestic Hypnokink smut. Archived.
Anger Management: Completed
Danny Phantom x Batman. “Jazzmine Fenton is her parents' daughter. She is going to rehabilitate this lingering specter and make him safe to human society, even if it kills him. (Again.) Jason is, like any red-blooded American man facing down a gorgeous redhead, entirely into that. He never wants another therapist in his afterlife ever again.” Somehow both Dead Dove/E Rated and also a family reconciliation fic. Originally posted to tumblr for Halloween. Archived. Check the warnings before reading.
Given Flesh and Form: Completed.
Danny Phantom x Batman. "When Bruce is stuck in time with no way out, there are faster ways to get results than to chase clues all across the seven continents...and it's not like Tim needs complete body autonomy anyway. So what if he agrees to host a budding baby royal ghost until it can form a new body? That's, like, what, under a year's worth of taking it easy? In exchange for his adoptive Dad's life? No contest. Tim strikes a deal with the King of All Ghosts and doesn't regret it for a second. Meanwhile. Tim's family is certain that something is wrong...but what?" Archived.
Bee Stuff 🐝 (What is Apiary Genders?):
Concept Fic: Completed. (DC/YJ)
"Tim goes to space. Tim comes back from space. ...Tim does not come back from space unchanged. On the other hand, this isn't...the worst...? It would be great if his teammates could stop laughing, though. It sort of makes asking everyone to move in with him more embarrassing than it has to be. The constant quoting of the pamphlets isn't necessary either."
DPxDC tumblr fills: No continuation
Shared Custody (Tucker/Sam/Danny ghost pregnancy. Weirder than it sounds, actually)
Auto-Parentification (and other half-assed wish fulfillment scenarios) [Villain!Tim/Danny tangle with time, Robin!Tim, and appropriate childhood milestones]
A Bed, a Breakfast, and a Pending Paternity Test  (Jazz&Danny are half alien, and Dick gets a clone scare)
Danny Phantom:
Monster in the Closet: No set collaboration schedule.
Danny finds Dani alone and injured...in perhaps the most conspicuous setting possible. Reasonably, he loses his shit. The school staff struggles to provide what care they can to an increasingly hostile, increasingly inhuman teenage student.
A Visitation: Completed (?)
Gray Ghost, Demon!AU. Valerie grapples with hiding her demon hunting from her boyfriend...but her dual-natured boyfriend always knows where she’s gone. Explicit. Check the warnings before reading.
Faer’s 2024 Phic Phight Fills (Danny Phantom One Shots) can be found here.
Percy Jackson:
Trade of Trickery: MIA
Sometimes change is wrought by divine intervention. Sometimes change is wrought by Sally Jackson, winner of Mom Of The Year for over a decade, new devotee to Hermes, and apartment complex manager. She is singlehandedly going to right the world for the sake of her son, or die trying.
Perseus Jackson, God of the Shrimps: Completed.
Simultaneously a crack!fic, a discord meme, a Creole!Percy fic, and a Texan!Annabeth fic. Really.
Kids on Pegasi: Completed. Awaiting further beta-testing.
TTRPG adaptation of the Kids on Brooms/Kids on Bikes system by Renegade Games, modified for Percy-Jackson-themed play. Screen-reader accessible version is provided. Links to free materials from both systems provided. Not a fic.

Has this been done yet?
Dead Serious with Reverse Robins. Just Damian bitching to his boyfriend about his father's horrible adoption habits each time he gets a new subling. (Some reason I see Damain naming himself Shade or Wraith after shifting from his sidekick role of Rook or Batkid) Phantom helping his boyfriend connect with his new siblings and teaching Damian how to be a big brother, complete with being a little shit when needed.

Thinking about a Reverse Wilson Kid au where Rose is the protective oldest (23), Joey is an eternal middle child (17), and Grant is the bratty baby of the family (14).
Slade and Lili have Rose when they're young but Slade only finds out about her when he's already married to Addie. Adeline agrees to take her in and even ends up taking Rose in the divorce, although by that point she's old enough to live on her own anyway.
She's in college but she still sticks around to take care of her brothers, and her other assortment of siblings when Slade's baby fever gets the best of him. She becomes Ravager to avenge her mother and all of her family that died in the massacre. I haven't decided if the Batkids are also age reversed but if they're not I think she joins The Outlaws which replace the Titans (I think it's fun if Jason is the oldest and Dick is the younger one, you can have fun with the rest of the Batfams ages).
Joey doesn't initially want to be a cape of any kind, but after the incident with the Jackal causes his powers to activate he has to learn to control them as well as learn to defend himself. He's friends with Dick and the tiny Titans tend to pull him into their attempts to follow in their big siblings footsteps. They're often thwarted, because Jason and Rose are very adamant that their siblings stay OUT of vigilante work. Joey is fine with this, Dick is significantly less fine.
Grant grows up knowing Slade is Deathstroke but because he grew up with his mom he was always very sheltered from that life, so he always kind of idolized Slade and is determined to follow in his footsteps. No one is happy about this, but Grant is constantly sneaking around trying to make a name for himself.
Respawn is technically the oldest, but they find out about him last. I...hate his canon origin, Ra's would NOT do that and Talia would NOT allow that, so even though he's a clone of Grant in my usual canon I think he's a government experiment in this au. He was kind of a failsafe if Slade didn't pull through, but they kept him to train and study when Slade went rogue. He really resents Slade and the other kids, and he'd have an antagonistic role.

so my loa batkids au has gained a little traction and i’ve hit a bit of a wall when it comes to writing new stuff so here’s an infodump to hopefully kill my writers block xoxoxo
first of all, jason. my forever number one blorbo. there’s a bit of a role reversal here because compared to all the rest of them, jason arguably had it the easiest. like we’re not going to compare traumas but an argument could be made. i honestly don’t remember if i mentioned it at all in the actual series yet, but the story i have for jason is that his childhood with willis and catherine was about the same as canon/commonly accepted fanon, meaning he was homeless around nine years old. however, instead of living on the streets for years, it was only a few months tops before meeting bruce.
and bruce! this is very fun to me, but basically i was thinking that if he didn’t raise dick, then why couldn’t this version of bruce be younger? so bruce becomes batman in his early twenties, which is also around the time that he visits the league of assassins for training and damian is conceived. (for a little more about that, here) and bruce is roughly 25 when he finds a tiny 9-10 year old jason trying to steal his tires. just imagine that it’s so fucking adorable and heartbreaking ANYWAYS bruce, despite being overall a disaster, doesn’t let a malnourished 10 year old out to fight crime right away, so there’s a couple years between when jason first meets bruce and when he becomes a child soldier yayyyy!!!! but legit, it makes a lot of difference to jason, because you know how canon!jason has some self-esteem issues (for lack of a better term) around bruce not really loving him/seeing him as a son because bruce started training him as robin (and as dick’s replacement) immediately after adopting him- you know that whole thing? yeah well here, despite jason actually offering to help bruce as a vigilante, this bruce is like hell nah you’re literally ten years old and the size of a six year old no way, and those few years in between really stick in jason’s mind as solid proof that bruce really does love him, not for what use he can provide, but simply as a son. also being the only child definitely helps with that
(that little detail of jason and bruce’s relationship is slightly inspired by minimum height requirement, which is absolute batfam gold btw)
okay so. slight pet peeve of mine is in aus where dick isn’t the first robin, the legacy is still called robin for whatever reason (lookin at you reverse robins aus) because!!!!! how dare you erase mary and john grayson’s importance!!!!! (look there’s more nuance to it than that i know but. to put it simply it feels like flying graysons erasure to me) so in this au, jason can’t possibly be called robin. the real robin has been missing for roughly seven years at this point
and listen. i tried to be creative and come up with something cool and original for jason’s vigilante name i really did, but apparently i used all of my naming talent on nighthawk (fucking love that name for dick it’s so fantastic) so we just have bluejay. womp womp
also! on my list of things to expand on: main timeline stephanie!!! i’ve had an absolute blast making myself cry while writing every heart sings a song, incomplete and those who wish to sing always find a song, but spoiler steph will always be my babygirl. and duke!!!! i have not written barely anything for duke in this universe but believe me i have some Thoughts. perhaps even Ideas. basically a lot of steph&duke and steph&babs and steph&duke&babs because i love my little underrated trio
also just more babs in general, because like. i’ve had so many tiny little snippets of cass and babs and their sweet little relationship just sitting in my notes for literal years now that i really just need to organize and expand into their own fic. and yet. i have not done that. but rest assured cass&babs are very very important to me
such is the curse of female fanfic writers: always destined to fixate more on the male poor little meow meows than the female bad bitches. seriously what the fuck is up with that guys i don’t get it why does this happen

What interesting things do you think they can do with Stephanie to make her stand out from the other Batkids?
I feel like this deserves a deep analysis, but that will be for another day.
The most efficient way to make her stand-out will be to give her a story that's fully centered on her (with NO Cass or Tim for once, please) with a focus on her personal development and inner-conflict.
But that's basically impossible to get in modern-day, especially for a C-list character who's part of the "Batfamily" where everyone has only one personality trait. However, on surface-level, I think there's a lot of little gimmicks that I think they should bring back to make her presence in Gotham more unique for readers.
You know how back in the day she and her dad used to have those white-belts with capsule-thingy that can explode into sticky slime or even ruin guns? Bring it back and have it be her thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also at first glance, I actually liked how she used to leave clues/riddles to help the police find criminals, it almost felt like she was the "reverse Cluemaster," but that was when she was an unprepared teenage girl. As a seasoned vigilante, I think it would be unnecessary for her to do this now, buuuuuut I wouldn't mind seeing glimpses of it in some stories if done right:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this was mentioned only once before, but I thought the concept of her wanting to take care of the suburbs of Gotham because Batman and Robin were too focused on the inner-city to be very interesting? Gotham is a big city and we don't really have characters who are mostly stationed in the suburbs, so I wouldn't mind her taking this role again (give her Burnside as her personal region):
Tumblr media
Also bring back that device that she stole from The Penguin that gave her the ability to turn invisible and make her the Batfam’s official scouter/information gather:
Tumblr media
And you know what will go great with that role? Her listening-devices that she used to always use before the pre-52:
Tumblr media
I also think that like the other Robins, she deserves an unofficial signature weapon since they mostly make her share a Bo staff with Tim and I humbly suggest nunchucks:
Tumblr media
Also I love “SPOILER ALERT!” being her catchphrase, it's just a catchphrase, but they really should stick to it alongside other Spoiler puns:
Tumblr media
Lastly, and this might come as a surprise to some, but I personally wouldn’t mind it if she was the token “breaks the 4th wall and talk to the audience” Deadpool-like character in Batman comics since we don’t have one of those already:

Pretty out of nowhere but,, What do you think about dickdami as a ship?
No worries anon, you can keep asking me about ships for that ask game, I love to blather ♥ (it's here for who's interested, if you reblog it I'll surely ask you about some ships!)
but anyway, absolutely yes
I ship it!
What made you ship it? I wouldn't be able to say exactly what it was. I think I've been lowkey shipping them since forever, then at some point I started warming up to Omegaverse AUs (in the sense that I've always loved ABO but my head had to sort of "make it work" in a DC superheroes situation), and at that point I was like YES, OMG Y E S. Especially because of Damian's clear-as-day crush on Dick.
What are your favorite things about the ship? Dami is a possessive little shit, and Grayson is his. Dick in skintight suits was surely his sexual awakening and his first crush, and I can easily see how the little demon would fixate on the idea that as soon as he's old enough, he and Dick are supposed to be together. In an ABO situation it works even better, especially when Dick is an Omega and Damian and Alpha because it validates the aforementioned mental process - "after I present me and Grayson will be together as mates". Dick meanwhile is there smiling like "he's a kid, he'll grow out of it sooner or later". No he won't :) (and also, I don't think Dick would ever be able to tell Damian no in whatever circumstance which makes it even juicier, intermingling with Dick's sense of shame and inability to resist when someone pressures him into something, which is something that Bruce took advantage of for Dick's entire life) If we're talking about a Reverse!Robins situation it also works amazingly. (I know, I know. I a lot of people hate the whole reverse!robin thing. "Damian shouldn't even be called Robin because that's a Dick Grayson thing!", "Stephanie makes no sense as Red Hood because she wouldn't care about Batman not avenging her!" LISTEN!!! I know. You are correct. However it is FUN to imagine the batkids with their ages reversed and their roles blurred, especially for shippy reasons, therefore I do not give a fuck ♥ Love you) Like imagine adult, bitter, troubled Damian finding the light of his life in this kid who lost his parents in such a gruesome way, having to teach him and guide him, be his mentor and his moral compass, in turn learning how to work his own skewed sense of justice. Imagine adult, touch-starved Damian having his heart beating so fast when this kid hugs him and falls asleep in his arms, needing comfort and giving so much warmth at the same time. Imagine stone-hearted, disillusioned Damian experiencing so much wonder at seeing this kid grow up and treat him like the most wonderful, precious human being that ever existed, even if Damian perceives himself as cold, unforgiving and unlovable. And when this special, one-in-a-million kid starts blushing every time they take their suits off, and getting clingy and jealous or anyone who buzzes around Dami, and obviously feeling for Damian something which is not just brotherly love, well. At that point what is even Damian supposed to do - Dick is his everything, and he wants to keep being Dick's everything in return.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Probably what I just wrote, meaning that I normally prefer the ship when it's a Reverse!Robins situation (but I like it in any form anyway)

All your AUs are so good and I get super happy every time I see you updated one! If I had to pick one for you to continue it would be the Batkids role reversal because it is the only role reversal AU that I can actually really enjoy given that it has ALL the Batkids instead of just the Robins (minus Steph who others always forget) AND because Jason is my favorite character and I need to see how he and his family are doing after that cliffhanger!!
See the literal only reason I haven't drawn the next piece for the reverse batkids is bc I know how I want it to look which is to put it bluntly way above my current art skill so it's gonna look really bad but I also know the only way to get better at art is to make shitty art so i will suck it up and draw the next part soon for now he's some jason and Damian from the same au before the whole death think

the batkids ages made me wonder: would the situation be any different for chloe if it was reverse robins (aka where damian is oldest and dick is youngest? sometimes it's also partial role reversal (esp with tim and jason))
Probably but while I'm rolling with this AU and my limited knowledge, I don't really feel as well-knowledgable in them to really hammer out a reverse au.

Okay, so
I wrote a scene of my fanfic and I really liked it AND I'd like to translate it to English properly but my English is not the best, so I'll just describe the situation in it:
It's a Reverse Robins AU but for this scene it doesn't really matter, considering the fact that after all things that changed, including different roles for every batkid in the family, Jason still died. Because I just want some immortal!Jason (i mean the thing where he is very much able to die but he wakes up some time after) appreciation, okay? I mean, there are some things in comics that KINDA prove that (mostly the thing at the end of the Under The Red Hood arc, I'm pretty sure many people saw that theory). And, well. Things go the same as canon went once (annual #25 of Batman and some parts about Talia taking care of Jason in the Red Hood: The Lost Days) until after the Lazarus Pit.
You know how Ra's got reeeaaaally upset after That Thing with the Lazarus Pit? He didn't kill her but boy he was really intimidating. Probably because he was fresh out of the Pit.
Soon after he sends people after Jason Todd. And in my AU days later he has to deal with some urgent League business far away himself, suspecting that Talia set this up to let Jason escape the League assasins. Is he right? Is he wrong? Who knows.
Anyways,
We know that Jason was in some motel and got the news that Joker is still alive and as always goes in and out of Arkham like he owns the place. And we also know that in Lost Days after that he leaves all the trackers Talia put on him behind and runs away, trying to get to Gotham (and kill Bruce with that bomb under the Batmobile).
The thing is, in my AU he doesn't get far away before the League men catch him and bring him back to the League. Oops.
Ra's still isn't there but Talia knows that it won't take too long and she fears that as soon as Ra's gets the news of Jason being caught he'll order to eliminate him. You know, because of the stuff he told Talia about Jason being havoc or desease or something. You probably remember better than me, if you read the Lost Days.
But again, that's not the point.
The point is, that Talia (in my AU) for certain reasons actually suspects Jason being able to ressurect again. There is only one way to find out - to kill Jason. It would also keep her father's interest long enough to set Jason free once she's ready.
Jason, by the way, trusts her, even though he shouldn't and even though he doesn't remember most of the time being... unwell before the Pit.
So he doesn't expect her poisoning him with a f TEA.
The scene I wrote and can't translate good enough is about what happened right after, where Jason wakes up (and i really forgot here that i wanted to make him universal glitch again so he would wake up always after 6 months BUT I WANTED THIS SCENE TO HAPPEN SO BADLY), trying to pull himself together, and after an hourS long brooding and existential crisis he finally walks to the room next to this one (which is some sort of morgue or the infirmary, he isn't sure) just to see Talia, calm as ever, slitting there, cleaning her blade, relaxed, and he should be furious, but she just says, still looking at the blade, "Regrets are for fools". And you know, I did some decent Talia description in this dialogue but it's all in Russian and I'm a little sad.
But the thing is, Jason, knowing her, realises that she's lying to herself - and he answers after a minute of sudden muteness that if she wasn't sorry she wouldn't say something like that in the place where no soul would accuse her of anything.
And - her shoulders drop a little and she, like, relaxes. And THEN he realises that oh shit, it was her twisted and stupid way to say Sorry. And he knows he should be angry, because she poisoned him, killed him, and now she's sorry?? But he doesn't get angry, he is a little amused by this little exchange and bone-tired, but he's not angry even a little.
After that there are few more kinda cool things i wrote in Russian and then he tries to get warm and kinda just wants to rest and to look as empty as he feels and to curl in the corner under some blanket, so Talia delicately leaves the room and lets him grieve himself.
And the last line of the scene is Jason remembering what she said him once, long time ago,
"Don't show your own weakness and always aim for your enemy's one." Врушка.
Врушка basically means "little liar" and can be used as affectionate word.
So. I don't know why but i just wanted to write it. Still wish I had some person who could help me translate things in the cool way. But whatever.

reverse robin au !!
OKAY you know I went off the rails for this but I was like legitimate writing a novel kinda answer which would've needed me to actually calculate ages and shit so instead I'm gonna give u the abridged version
I'm doing reverse order of when they came into Bruce's life instead of age idc. Duke was the first batkid, following to certain degree Batman zero year. Then it's Damian, Cass, Stephanie, (Tim? Tim only happened because Jason died but I wouldnt kill anyone here so dunno.. but he would be here), Jason, Babs, Dick.
Duke gets the titans and nightwing. I'm thinking duke's titans would be Wallace, Emiko, Jackson, and Tanya, with Kenan being in and out. (Also I was thinking Duke gets the idea to upgrade to Nightwing through Kenan, with help from Clark)
I think it would be fun if Cass got a yj inspired team because it's just fun to think about her working with the likes of kon, the wonder twins, and Cassie. Like PLEASE 90s yj wonky shenanigans with her are hilarious. She's the first batgirl which got me feeling some sort of way 🥺
Steph has pretty much the same story as canon tbh, with less bricks to the face because she would met Cass first. We were talking with jay and thinking how she may be part of like this au version of we are robin inspired by duke..
Cass would become batman when Bruce dies. No questions asked. Thinking how probably bapy Jason would be her robin, but dunno how I would work him into this order tbh. There's no battle for the cowl, Duke, Damian, and Cass talk it out like adults. Duke doesn't want to leave his team, but offers to step up on Bruce's role in league situations, while Cass and Steph remain in Gotham.
I think Damian would have like an arc of him wanting to bring Bruce back, and oh I figured out how to work Tim into his story while maintaining some of his iconic arcs. Okay so Damian and Tim teaming up to find out what really happened with Bruce. Tims Steph's and Cass' lil civilianish friend who has a lot of the vigilante stuff figured out..
I have so much details but I need to like actually make them make sense so u get. Half assed vague headcanons
send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it

Concept: Reverse Robins only Damian doesn’t exist.
Okay, hear me out. It’s not that I have anything against Damian, it’s just that at some point in the future, Damain’s going to get replaced by a different full-time robin who’s Bruce’s new son and when that happens, Damian will no longer be the oldest in Reverse Robin AUs and really I think it’d just be interesting to explore a different type of role reversal. So, without further ado:
Batman has been active for a couple years when Bruce Wayne is invited to be a celebrity judge on a Gotham special of a family gameshow. While recording the special, one of the contestants, a Crystal Cooper (formerly Brown), is killed. Her 9 year old daughter and teammate, Stephanie Brown, watches it happen.
Bruce is struck by the common bond of watching one’s parents die in front of them. Crystal’s death may have looked like an accident, but when Batman comes by to check on Stephanie Brown (now in the custody of her father, Arthur Brown) she’s convinced that it was murder. He promises to investigate. Steph, however, doesn’t take his word for it and keeps sneaking out into the city to run her own investigation into what she’s convinced is her father’s secret criminal empire. Batman fails to get her to stop. In the end he finds that it was in fact Arthur Brown — the 2-bit villain known as the cluemaster — who arranged for it to happen. He allows Steph to come along for the confrontation and when it’s done, he reveals his secret identity to her and offers to take her in while her dad’s in jail. She becomes Batman’s sidekick — Batkid — in an eye-aching costume of purple, pink, yellow, and black. (She designed it herself. I think Batman’s sidekick deserves to be a bright and colorful contrast to his monochrome.)
They work together for years, but eventually Steph can’t stand the way he tries to control her. The way that she loves him, she considers him the father she never had, but it feels like he doesn’t feel the same about her. She’s just his ward while her father serves his sentence, occasionally breaking out and getting stuffed back in by the Bat. She thinks that he’s worried he’s going to turn out like her father, just another criminal.
This all culminates in an absolutely huge argument when she’s seventeen after she gets shot. Bruce tells her she’s fired from Batkid. Steph tells him that he can’t fire her because she’s quitting. Things escalate from there. Bruce kicks her out of the house. She decides that she’s all done playing second fiddle to the Bat and becomes Spoiler — an identity she’s been tossing around in her back pocket for a while now.
A couple months later, she finds out through the paper that there’s a new Batkid at Batman’s side.
When Tim Drake was 3, his parents brought him to compete on a family game show. He watched Crystal Cooper die in front of him. A wonderful first memory for a child to have. Batman solving the case of her murder solidified a lifelong obsession with the vigilante in his mind. When he was ten, he got caught up in one of the many showdowns between Batkid, Batman, and the Cluemaster and there was just enough personal animosity there that he was able to connect the dots between Batkid, Cluemaster, and the nice blond girl who’d smiled at him that day at the gameshow and confided that she thought that her dad was a supervillain but his dad seemed nice.
When Tim was twelve, his parents die in a plane crash and it turns out they didn’t have any relatives that they even got on remotely well with because they left his custody to a family friend who barely pays attention to him. He takes up Bat-stalking and no one notices.
When Tim was thirteen, Batkid vanished off the streets. Batman was clearly depressed by this turn of events and started being way worse at solving mysteries. Tim walked up to Batman one evening while he was brooding and told him that he had to stop being a wuss and get Batkid back because he was hopeless without her. Somehow, this ended with him becoming the new Batkid. And also Bruce adopting him.
Legacies are important to Tim. He sees himself as carrying on the legacy that the original Batkid left. So he wears a blond wig and the exact same costume despite the fact that it’s all pink and purple and he’s clearly way smaller than the last Batkid. I think the outfit has cute little shorts and armored knee socks because baby!steph thought magical girls were cool.
Anyway, Steph and Tim don’t really have that much of a relationship. Tim kind of hero worship’s Steph, but Steph’s hung up on her Bruce Daddy issues and the fact that the kids trying so hard to be like her is kind of awkward and if she admits that she likes him, then that’s like admitting that Bruce is right and also, he’s a little annoying and he might have a bit of a baby crush on her which is just kind of awkward and Bruce adopted him and not her does that mean she’s just not good enough? She warms up to him eventually, but then.
Then Tim’s captured by the Joker and tortured and turned into a mini-Joker and procedes to kill the Joker and then himself.
And Steph? Steph didn’t even notice he was missing. She was ignoring all of his and Bruce’s calls because she *might* have had a one-night stand with Superboy and her period *might* have come late and by the time’s she’s done freaking out about it, her and the titan’s have broken into LexCorp to get more information on Superboy’s biology, and fought off the killer robots that Luthor sent after them, well. Well, then it’s too late. Tim’s already dead and she should’ve been there for him, pregnancy scare and Bruce issues be damned.
When Jason’s thirteen, the Joker dies, and Batman goes majorly off the rails. Which means when he sees the Batmobile sitting in Crime Alley, it’s an extra bad idea when he decides to try and jack its tires. Like, a risking-his-life bad idea. Except… his mom’s sick and getting sicker and the doctors say there’s treatment but that costs money. And his dad’s in jail because he was trying to get money and the only way he could do it was by breaking the law. So now Jason’s the one that needs to track down the money because he *really* doesn’t want his mom to die.
Jason tries to jack the tires. He gets three done by the time Batman gets back. His life flashes before his eyes. He knows he’s going to die. The least he can do is go out brave. So he stands up, turns around, and calls Batman a wuss.
For some reason, this makes Batman go misty-eyed and call him Tim. Fuck, he’s taking off his cowl. Fuck, that’s *Bruce Wayne*. Somehow, this insane evening ends with Jason sort of maybe blackmailing Batman (Bruce Wayne!) into paying for his mom’s cancer treatment. And also, he’s Batkid now, because his mom’s cancer treatment is dependent on Bruce not getting arrested or getting himself killed and he needs someone watching his back.
Steph spends more time with Jason than she did with Tim. Her Bruce issues have evened out some. She’s established herself. She doesn’t want to fail Jason like she did Tim. Of course, that’s once she gets over the initial shock of Jason existing at all.
‘How the Fuck did you get in the Batcave?’ Steph asks.
‘You know, I was wondering that myself,’ Jason replies.
(Jason keeps the Batkid costume mostly the same. But he gives it pants. And refuses to wear a wig like Tim did.)
Bruce does not adopt Jason. Jason has parents, parents he loves, thank you very much. Their relationship is strictly professional and based on blackmail.
Jason’s dad gets out of prison about 6 months after he starts his Batkid training. He ends up killed by Two Face barely a couple weeks later. That’s the first time Jason goes out as Batkid officially. To take Two Face down.
In this AU, Jason’s the one juggling the double identity. He’s trying to take care of his mom and stay in school and be Robin all at once. He hates lying to his mom, but he also can’t tell her that the only reason her treatments are being covered by this mysterious grant are because he’s helping out Batman. Just, where would he even start? He doesn’t want to make her feel bad about the fact that she couldn’t take care of him on her own. (He doesn’t want her to tell him that he has to stop.)
Jason’s probably been Batkid for about a year when a new vigilante shows up, a kid about a year younger than him calling himself Robin.
Dick Grayson is thirteen when his parents get in an argument with Mr Haley and leave the circus to settle as an acrobatic act based in Gotham. He thinks there’s something sus about the whole thing. He starts poking around. His parents ask him not to, but well. Dick is thirteen and feels like he can do anything. Also, he *knows* he saw a weird creepy guy talking with Mr Haly the other day. And also the weird creepy guy kept staring at him. Dick has acrobatic prowess. He can take care of himself. He can get to the bottom of this.
He repurposes some of their old flying greyson outfits to be his costume, calls himself Robin, and sets out into Gotham to find out the truth. Batkid’s kind of cool, Batman tells him to go home, but it turns out there is something fishy going on  and that something calls itself the court of owls so Dick isn’t about to stop. Plus, being a superhero is just cool.
When Jason’s 15, his mom finds part of his Batkid suit in his room when looking for something. She confronts him about it and he tells her the truth, about batkid, about where the money for her treatments is coming from, about everything. She cries, he cries, she asks him to quit. He does. Bruce keeps paying for the treatments, but she’s not getting better. They spend the last few months together before she dies.
Meanwhile, when Jason quit being Batkid, he asked Robin (now a good friend and partner in crime) to keep an eye on Batman. This results in a short tenure of Dick as Batkid before he stumbles on a lead for the court that Batman says he shouldn’t pursue. He pursues it anyway, Batman fires him from Batkid. Dick’s like whatever, I liked Robin better anyway, and chases it on his own. This ends in Dick Grayson missing, presumed dead. They fish a body out of a burned down building that matches close enough. The Graysons mourn. Jason, who just lost his mom and friend in quick succession morns and goes back to being Batkid because it’s something he knows he can do.
Bruce offers to adopt Jason. Jason accepts.
There’s a new villain in Gotham. Some guy calling himself the Red Hood. He’s calling himself the new Clown Prince of Crime. He’s trying to be the new Joker, alternating between what are essentially large scale practical jokes, and horrifying acts of violence. There are a series of clues. Jokes and punchlines that lead to a confrontation in Amusement Mile where it’s revealed that Tim somehow came back from the dead and is still kind of insane. The Batman-Tim confrontation goes poorly to say the least.
Flashback: Tim-Drake Wayne digs himself out of his grave and ends up in the welcoming arms of the league of assassins. A dip in the lazarus pit restores his mind, but also restores a healthy serving of insanity as well. (Brain damage is tricky at the best of times. The Joker rewrote Tim’s brain in a nasty way before he died. Tim died to a bullet through the brain. Add on the trauma of dying and there’s only so much a punch to the fabric of reality and a glowing magical pit can do.) Ra’s attempts to radicalize him to eco-facism before deciding that Tim who still has too many of the Joker’s ticks driven into him is too much even for him and sends him off to Gotham.
It’s clear to Tim that Batman needs challenges. That he’s grown to weak. It doesn’t bother him that Bruce has picked up another couple of  Batkids from somewhere. No, it bothers him that Batman’s growing complacent. That he’s less than he was when Tim was Batkid. (The reason Batman seems less is a mixture of the grief of loosing a son and the simple fact that Tim is older now). (Tim won’t admit it, but I think some of his anger comes from the fact that Bruce didn’t get there in time to save him. That he wasn’t good enough then.) This all leads to Tim’s decision to declare himself the new Joker. After all, someone’s got to keep Batman on his toes. He spends his time parroting Ra’s eco-fascist talking points and setting up elaborate plans that either result in vaguely eugenicist mass murder or the equivalent of a (normal) pie to the face.
Anyway, more shit happens. There’s a new court assassin who shows up — they’ve left a trail of bodies in their wake, they’re taking potshots at Batman and Batkid. When Batman and Batkid are finally able to stop him, it turns out that it’s Dick. That he didn’t die, he was just turned into an assassin for the court. It takes time to deprogram him, to take down and destroy as much of the court as they can before the rest goes to ground, but eventually Dick’s back to mostly normal. He got to have a tearful reunion with his parents, he’s back to being Robin, except it doesn’t feel like it fits right anymore. So he becomes Nightwing, inspired by the character from the kryptonian story he’d read in the book Superman published. (Yes, it’s the discowing suit because I love it unironically.)
Anyway, that’s as far as I got before running out of ideas.
