Gaang headcanons + Ozai's Angles

Aang: He/him, straight ally. If you tell him (as a girl) "I like girls" He'll say "Oh, me too!" Or if you tell him you wanna change your name, or have different pronouns, he will automatically respect it. Because the monks always said "Love has no boundaries, love who you want."

Katara: She/her, straight ally. She really doesn't care who you like (not in a bad way) because her brother is bi, and she wants everyone to be happy and comfortable with who they are. She will respect pronouns and chosen names. (She will accidentally mess up the first few times and get really mad at herself)

Sokka: He/him, bisexual. He can't explain why he likes girls and guys. He just does. He will occasionally slip at preferred pronouns, he will mentally curse himself out. He doesn't get very happy with himself.

Toph: She/her, polysexual or pansexual. She cares for personally (duh). She tries to respect others, but yeah, she's sassy and kinda mean. If you tell her something like preferred name, pronouns or sexuality, she'll respond with, "Okay." And go on with her life.

Zuko: He/him, omnisexual. You think being on a ship with only men would make him come out as still straight? No. He didn't like any of the men, but it brought out some questions for himself. Of course one of the first things he did as Fire Lord was make same sex marriage. He wants everyone to be happy. Tell him your preferred name, pronouns and your sexuality, he'll respect it. He's nice like that. Yeah, he'll slip a few times, but he has a bit of a crappy memory sometimes.

Suki: She/her (trans fem), bisexual. She loves and respects everyone's pronouns, chosen names and sexuality's. She wants people to be happy and accepted like how she was. She knew she was a girl from a young age (so did her village) and they all accepted her, especially the Kyoshi warriors.

Azula: She/her, lesbian. Has internal homophobia from being raised by Ozai. If you tell her your preferred name, pronouns and your sexuality, she won't care. In secret she'll call you by that, but around Ozai and other officials, she won't. Always liked girls, but never had anyone to talk to about it.

Ty Lee: She/her, bisexual. Her bi awakening was Azula. She really liked Azula but it slowly became fear. Tell her your preferred name, pronouns and your sexuality, she will be very happy you told her, and she'll hug you. She likes it when people are honest with her.

Mai: She/her, bisexual, demiromantic. Tell her your stuff (I'm sorry, I'm done typing all that) she won't care. She'll just act like she always knew and say something like "Yeah, I was waiting for you to tell me." Or "Took you long enough." Her bi awakening was Ty Lee.

Hm atla headcanons because I’ve been thinking really hard about trans Sokka/Zuko

Sokka : genderfluid (he/she depending on the day + they all the time) bi, polyamorous

Zuko : simply doesn’t understand gender/non-binary (they/it), asexual, demibiromantic, possibly polyA

Aang : pangender (any pronouns including neos), pan

Toph : agender (she/they/he/it), aro, nblw

Suki : trans demigirl genderfae Suki <3 (she/they), bi, polyA

Katara : trans woman (she/her), straight, demi romantic

every member of the gaang is aspec and i'm going to tell you why whether or not you want me to

- aang: aroace. this one is obvious, and if you've followed me for any length of time you know i love spreading aroace aang propaganda. aunt wu practically makes it cannon in the fortuneteller episode- she doesn't see any romance in his future. also, aang's colour palate is the aroace flag, so that's always a plus.

- sokka: purely vibes, and not canon compliant in any way, but he's demiromantic. I don't really have an explanation for this, but he just strikes me as someone who forms deep emotional attachments before wanting anything more.

- katara: she's grayace and you can't tell me otherwise. she might be feeling more attraction one day and less the next, and she just vibes with it. change is part of her element. romance, however, is a priority in her life. physical attraction, on the other hand, is not.

- toph: alloaro. I love the concept of a toph whose relationships with her (found) family are the most important in her life, who maybe has a qpr with someone, who raises her children with support from the rest of the gaang. it make me ridiculously happy and fits her character so so well!! she is quite literally a strong independent woman, and doesn't need a partner to be happy and feel fulfilled.

- suki: also alloaro!! or maybe grayaro, whatever you like. suki seems to me a person who really doesn't care that much about romance. her family and friends are a true priority for her, and while i think she wouldn't mind a qpr or a romantic relationship, it's sort of at the back of her mind. her duty always comes first.

- zuko: ace, and possibly arospec. my boy is busy regaining his honour. chasing the avatar. conquering his internal conflict. building trust with the gaang. running a country. you're gonna tell me he has time to worry about seggs and romance?? look me in the eye and say it. but in all seriousness, zuko is a hopeless (but aspec) romantic who loves attraction in novels and plays, but not in his own life. he just doesn't have time for that.

I mean I have very few ships that I'm crazy about BUT Kanera is one of them

But you asked for Kataang first so‐!

I know you didn’t ask for an explanation BUT I really like Kataang. I think they grow together really well. Aang matures a lot in being friends with Katara, and Katara is reminded that she’s allowed to take time to be a kid. I think their childhood trauma compliments each other well. Aang doesn’t want the responsibility of being the Avatar, Katara has responsibility thrust on her by her village. They’re both the last of their people in some capacity. Katara being the last waterbender in the south pole, Aang the last airbender. Theres a lot of similarities, but they’re very complimentary of one another and I’ve been thinking about them a lot actually because I’ve been seeing some jedi attachment discussions across my dash. Just about every time, my mind comes to these two, specifically Aang’s visual representation of what non-attachment means. I’ve been thinking a lot about Aang recently.... But anyways I love that its a light hearted ship. In a show with so many big and complicated things, they show that love doesn’t need to be complicated. There are times when things get difficult and romance isn’t a cure all, but its the sort of thing that takes time and has to be given freely.

And for Kanera

I don’t talk often about romantic relationships often here okay. I’m demiromantic, but I want to be romanced okay. I want what these two have. Heres the thing theres a lot of romantic pairings in Star Wars. Theres not a single character who hasn’t had at least one romantic interest- and the with the way things pan out in Star Wars thats pretty interesting to me- BUT If here was one couple I think really gets romance like really gets it like REALLY if you look at them you’d know what love is, its Kanan and Hera. I’m just starting the book where they first meet so most of my opinions are based in Rebels- but my goodness. What I love about Hera and Kanan at least the first time I watched Rebels, is that it was two adults, very in love, and i was shown to be a mature love without it having to be “mature” in nature. I mean of course, we have Jacen, so we know it was, but none of the characters seemed to shy away from it.  Fuck I don’t think Hera said she loved him on screen until S4, but who know right from the first two seconds on screen interacting that they have history, their love has weight. We see them argue, we see them be happy and continue to grow together and as individuals. Kanan is doing what he can to help her build the rebellion, Hera actually helps him process some of his grief and the difficulties of training Ezra. They’re a team in every sense of the word, they’re equals. Their love is so light, but carries so much weight- its heartbreaking. In my opinion they are the most functional and well balanced Star Wars couple.

I haven't quite planned out Katara's story other then her relationships (speaking of not a Love Triangle she dates both Ben's straight and Todoroki is Demiromantic) however I am going to keep her motivation the same (replacing Fire Nation with the Shie Hassaikai). There's a few charecters like that specifically Steven Universe and to a lesser extent Naruto and Sasuke.

Hell I haven't even decided the extent of transfering her powers. Blood Bending? Probably not or takes a ton of effort, healing? Keep flipping back and forth. Temp Manipulation? Not for a while probably saving that for when she confronts her mother's killer.

ATLA queer headcanons

Aang: Aang doesn’t use labels. He doesn’t really care about what pronouns people use for him, or what people gender him as. He usually introduces himself with he/him pronouns because it’s what other people have used for him, but he likes they/them, she/her, and neopronouns just fine. He doesn’t use orientation labels either.

Katara: Non-SAM demiromantic trans girl. She transitioned young, and experiences little or no dysphoria because she was never taught a woman had to act or look a certain way. More of my thoughts on demiro Katara here.

Sokka: Bisexual trans boy. He/they all the way. He transitioned young but a little later than Katara—around 9 years old. He has a lot of dysphoria because of the pressure and expectations he puts on himself.

Suki: Bisexual trans woman. She always knew she wanted to be a Kyoshi Warrior, and eventually mustered the courage to ask to join them when she was 11. They accepted her immediately and she quickly rose in the ranks through her training and dedication.

Yue: Trans ace lesbian. @whenyourfavouritedies introduced me to the trans!Yue headcanon and to the concept of Yue naming herself for the moon because she loves the moon, which is brilliant. @that-was-anticlimactic introduced me to ace!Yue which, ah. Incredible.

Toph: Aroallo. She doesn’t really label her sexual attraction other than allo because her aro identity is much more important to her.

Zuko: Gay-oriented demiromantic asexual. @zukkaclawthorne introduced me to the concept of demi Zuko, and I am forever grateful.

Azula: Lesbian. She is a lesbian.

Mai: Biromantic asexual. @artboy-mlm introduced me to asexual Mai and I am 100% on board this train. Here is an elaboration on asexual!Mai.

Ty Lee: Trans girl Ty Lee. I can see her as lesbian or pan, but definitely wlw in some way.
