Eggs for Killie is over!

I award myself the 150th egg for all of the little bits of art. Thank you so much for inspiring me to make them! It’s been really amazing to see all the hard work and to truly appreciate the wide range of crafts and activities everyone can do. Bobbin lace? Shoemaking? Knife forging? Translating Irish? It’s genuinely incredible.

I also really appreciated the people who were taking a rest, too. Thank you for that as well.

And I SUPER, SUPER appreciate everyone who was going through saying encouraging words, leaving replies/reblogging with comments, or liking all these posts. That was also a huge outpouring of kindness and time. I saw you doing it (and tried to make sure OPs did too) and any credit for people feeling empowered? That’s for YOU.

I know for a fact that people were following each other simply because they spotted one of their people through doing this. Thank you for being here - and being brave enough to find each other!

Am I the only one who thinks The Secret History would be way more interesting as a stage play than a movie? It could be put on in the same style as a Greek tragedy, taking inspiration from ancient performances. Or there could be constant rotating sets and backgrounds, but the mountains and the cliffs always being present onstage, reminding us that what no matter what Richard is telling us, and no matter how much Richard and the Greek class try to rationalize it, they will always be haunted by what they have done. was thinking about it this morning as i was making tea and i think there's a fundamental gap in the advice we give to writers/creators to "first and foremost create for ourselves", bc yes. in the beginning, i am almost always writing for myself. i write all the time, and im sure that artists doodle and paint all the time too. there are things i've written that will never see the light of day and are truly just for me.

and then there are things that i choose to share, because i want to share them. because i'm proud of a story, and want to put it into the world. the act of sharing it is, above all, an invitation.

its me inviting you into a corner of my mind/heart/soul, opening the window and throwing open the curtains and waving, holding up a sign that says "hi! do you like this too? let's talk about it!"

what im asking for is a connection, a conversation. a shared space. digital or otherwise. and the so-called "harm" of "ghost consumption" is not that artists will stop creating art or that writers will stop writing -- no, that's not quite how creativity works (thankfully, and sometimes unfortunately). we will always create.

we just might not be inspired to share it anymore.

This came to me as a dream. It would have been quite intense, but I dreamt it up as a 'remembered' videoclip and song from my youth. Too bad I couldn't reproduce all the lyrics, because it was poetically and lyrically far beyond my grasp. Then again, remembering the entire song is simply too much to ask.

The last part was ingrained.

In Dutch:

Untranslatable.

Too many subtle nuances and word trickery going on (homonyms, synonyms, word-bending etc.). Still, translated, as I only write in English. I did need to get it out of my system, because it went so far as that the first thing I did this morning was actually googling the lyrics, and being completely stupefied the song I had 'remembered' never existed.

Why are the Invincible ship names so…basic? to my knowledge, William x Mark is Wark, and Rex x Mark is MarkRex. What happened to creative ship names that use parts of their character or superhero moniker?

Do ppl refer to Wally x Dick as Wick? No! They call them “birdflash” because Dick is NightWING and Wally is Kid FLASH (he was also the Flash but yk what im saying)
