This chart doesnt give you precise amounts and some numbers are innacurate so let me clear up here
30kcals per plum
78 per one 2-3'' apple(small), 116 per one 3'' apple (large)
45 per cup of chopped up watermelon
40 in 10 MEDIUM sized strawberries
1 kcal in 1 raspberry. So 10=10
In 10 red cherries there are 45 kcals
17 in 1 apricot
119 for a whole papaya so 59 for half
60 in a cup of cut cantaloupe
50 per 1 orange,
201 in a whole mango, 100 in a cup of cubed mango
37 per 1 tangerine
50 in 1 medium peach
105 in a 7'' banana, 70 if it's less than 6'' long
82 in a cup of pineapple cubes, 452 in whole thing (ik no ones eating a whole pineapple but yk)
20 in 5 olives
64 in a cup of cubes honeydew, 360 for whole thing
33 in 1 large cucumber, 10 in a mini, 8 in a cup of slices
42 in 1 kiwi
100 in a medium pear
240 in 1 avocado
82 in a cup of blueberries, 1 per blueberry
62 per cup of grapes, 2 per small grape
62 per cup of blackberries, 2 per small blackberry
EXTRA
Breakfast tips I learned at the hospital
One english muffin is 130 but if you cut it so you're only eating the edges it will look like youre eating the whole thing but only be getting a 3rd or about 45kcals!! and 1 teaspoon of margarine will cover both of those "halves" and there's 35 kcals in that. so 80 that looks like 160.
A cup of dry plain cheerios is also 80
78 in one large egg BUT throw out the yolk and only have the white. It looks like a full over easy egg but the white is only 17 kcals. Trust me on this one, have it for every meal you can get away with.
Fruit salad
10 raspberries=10kcal
half a small banana, thinly sliced=35kcal
5 thinly sliced strawberries=20kcal
15 blueberries=15kcal
2 tsp sugar free table syrup=0kcal LITERALLY BEST THING EVER
total 80 kcal and the syrup makes it the best breakfast in the world while adding no calories but it makes you feel like youre eating pancakes and keeps you full.
Frozen waffle/pancake, 1=95kcals
Lunch
Use the english muffin excuse to make a sandwhich with just lettuce in it and whatever veggies you like.
what I do is 1 english muffin cut to look like halves but its a 3rd = 45kcal
1/4 cup lettuce=1-2kcal
1 slice of tomato=3
if you want more you can have 30kcal of margarine (1 tsp) on the toasted muffin and half a cheese slice which is 56kcal. so i dont reccomend it.
plus 1 egg white if you want=17
or fake balogny (im a strict vegetarian of 8 years) for 20kcal and like 5g of protien
Supper
One pack of mr noodles has 190kcal. never eat more than half
always make a salad if you can. most can be made under 20kcals and actually taste amazing but dont add dressing they're really high cal.
RICE CAKE PIZZA
this is made to look like you're eating a lot
2 plain rice cakes=70
or one tomato basil=60
2 tbsp grated cheese=70
or 1 tbsp herbed goat cheese=35
slice some mini tomatos and mushrooms/peppers, onions, ect=5kcal
total 100-145 and it tastes amazing
this one would be hard to hide bc the brand name is literally skinny noodles but buy some skinny noodles (9 kcal per serving!! vegan and gluten free) and put them in a box or something. my family puts our noodles in long containers so it wouldnt be noticed and the package could be thrown away

🥳🥳🥳🥳
The cucumbers are starting to come in, ive picked 8 that are about 11-13 inch long with more to come :)
Tumblr media
The front side pics only today, since the back is weirdly sparse at the moment.
Tumblr media
Guranteed there will be a few hidden ones ive missed too. This is 3 or 4 plants, a couple died before taking off almost overnight so I'm not entirely sure.
These are a striped variety of armenian cucumbers, I like them because~~~~~
🌱once they get going they are very prolific producers on few plants.
🌱Fruit can be 12+ inches long and I've found some as thick as a watermelon once (was not tasty. The chickens loved it tho!) Bigger than 1.5 inch wide tends to start getting seedy.
🌱They can get some whacky shapes.
🌱If established and given a watering 2x a day for about 10-15 (early morning, sunset/dusk) before heat hits heavy, they will generally continue producing long after most other plants have finished. For my area that's about 3 days of sustained 105+*f. These cukes kept producing right through the summer with little stuttering.
🌱Did I mention they produce a lot? I'm not kidding, we grew I think 6 plants the very first grow (other varieties have done very poorly) and got over 200lbs of cucumbers. It felt very much like the zuchinni grow season joke. We had enough for us, The chickens and regular gifts to at least 5 other households with plenty extra to gift to coworkers and classmates. 😂
🌱They are pretty set em and forget them, trellising them this year is something new im trying so I can work out ways to produce more food on a urban sized lot.
🌱personal notes, no cucumber urps :D so if ya suffer from them, this could be a variety to try.
I've tried a few other varieties (pickling, lemon, straight 8s, english) and not been as successfully as these have been. At this time their gonna be the ones we grow from now on. I'll try others, but like said just haven't had luck with them.
They either grow too slow, weak and sickly or the 2 times we got fruit they were waaaay to bitter.
These seeds came from a packet at one of local libraries seed library. I'll be trying to figure out how to save the seed this year to return some back (which is all they ask folks to do, is return seed if possible) if it's viable.
I'll be for sure bringing some nasturtium and hollyhock seeds in the next time I'm up since both produced well this time :)
I don't wanna endorse any one seed page specifically at this time for addutional grow info, Since I like to get seeds from local or regional growers (small business's or gardeners and hobbiest most preffered), thankfully there's at least a Wikipedia page with some interesting info and an edu page too :)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_cucumber
https://extension.usu.edu/yardandgarden/research/cucumber-in-the-garden
That's it for today :)
🌱🌱Happy Homesteading and Gardening 🌱🌱

Furēta
Tumblr media
“Fin Monster” © Jia Hao, accessed at his ArtStation here
[I just finished reading Folk Tales of the Maldives, which is a culture and mythology I knew nothing about before reading. Maldivian society puts a lot of stock in fishing, sailing and other seamanship, and like all seamen, they have a lot of sea monsters. The author of the book was less interested in monster stories than in collecting more “realistic” oral traditions (boo), so there’s a number of them that make cameo appearances that leave me wanting more. There are giant jellyfish that are so hard that boats (and even people) smash to bits when colliding with them. Pearlfish (which live inside the anuses of sea cucumbers) are the larvae of giant deep sea monsters. Most of the monster tales that get a full plot are about the furētas, which are shapeshifting reef monsters loosely equivalent to an ogre or troll. They eat people, are super strong, but dumb enough to be scared of people crunching on fried breadfruit. I slotted my version as a CR 8 to make it fit into adventures in the same place as D&D/PFRPG’s traditional “ogre-with-magic-powers-based-on-Asian-mythology”, the ogre mage/oni.]
Furēta CR 8 CE Monstrous Humanoid This giant is vaguely piscine, with spiny fins along its limbs, back and neck. It smells like a low tide and has enormous sharp teeth.
A furēta is an aquatic shapechanger that prey on people living on tropical islands. They typically live underwater, in caves and crevices on reefs or rocky shores, and move onto land to hunt. They can disguise themselves as humans, and may walk undetected into villages to scout for victims, whom they then ambush. Most furētas keep a handful of costumes, weapons and tools in a safe dry space, so they can more easily pass for humanoids. Furētas are somewhat foolish, and few of them know much about the humanoids they impersonate. Thus, they can sometimes be tricked into revealing their identities, or bluffed or intimidated by customs or technology they are unfamiliar with.
A furēta can stretch its body to supernatural lengths, letting it look above rooftops or claw at sailors on a boat from the water line. Their claws and spiny fins carry a vile rotting disease, which afflicts those who succumb to it with leprosy-like rotting sores. Most furētas hunt alone, but they do occasionally form gangs of friends and family. These associations are more competitive than cooperative during combat, with each furēta trying to prove themselves the strongest and the toughest.
In its natural form, a furēta is about ten feet tall, but they can stretch to at least twice that height for brief intervals.

A furēta may use this ability in conjunction with change shape. Innate Foulness (Ex) A furēta gains a +4 racial bonus on all saves against diseases, poisons and spells and effects that cause the sickened or nauseated conditions. Spiny (Ex) Any creature that strikes a furēta with a touch attack, melee attack or unarmed strike must succeed a DC 17 Reflex save or be scratched by one of its spines, taking 1d6+3 points of piercing damage and being exposed to the creature’s disease.
