Fanfic writer asks here!

Well, since I answered about Mistletoe Mishaps in the previous ask, I've got you something really good for this one: Its sequel.

It's a short ficlet, almost complete, which I wrote down because I wanted to get it out of my head, and which I actually really like but don't really plan on posting officially because I like how the original story ends with that tantalising ending. Of course, every time I revisit it I reconsider that decision all over again.

Here's the good part! Cut for length (233 words):

“Alright, Evans? What’re you doing there?”

She turns around; with the edge of her eye, she catches his friends continuing their way down the corridor. “Just looking outside,” she replies. “It’s safer now that there’s no mistletoe hanging from every window frame.”

“I don’t think that’s going to keep the boys from wanting to kiss you.”

“Perhaps not. But it’ll weed out those who need to ask from those who don’t.”

He raises an eyebrow; he must have been trying for simply interested, but the fire in his eyes and his short breath as he approaches shows a little too much investment. “Plenty of those who don’t?”

“At least one.”

He pauses, just for a fraction of a second; then with one last step and no trace of hesitation, he closes the distance between them. His lips capture hers, his hands reach for her waist and pull her ever closer; she closes her eyes and her palms reach at his chest, fingers curling around his robes, and she lets herself be kissed, but breaks away before she completely surrenders to it.

He chases after her mouth blindly; she grins as their foreheads touch, forcing his eyes open again, wet and wild as though waking from a dream.

“Had a good Christmas, Potter?” she teases.

“Quite,” he replies, and his roguish smirk has never been sweeter. “But I think I like being back better.”

Beauty and the Beast but the Beast doesn't return to full human when the curse is broken, because it was almost too late to break it when it happens

So instead of seemlessly regaining the throne and getting married with Beauty, the people of the town are still uneasy, even though they remember him now, and don't understand why Beauty stays by his side when they're free to return to the village

Likewise some of the humans-turned-objects-turned-humans still have characteristics of their former objects, like the candlestick's hair will sometimes catch fire when they're upset (harmless to them but still scary), or the alarm clock will get ringing migraines in a more literal way

I just think it could be a really neat story, fluff or smut or whathaveyou

I know that this is an o bylder ask but I have been thinking about it for awhile. I might do another part if y'all like it but I had a hard time narrowing it down to which characters to focus on.

Belle was surprised when Beast, Adam?, didn't return to fully human. Though to say that she was displeased wouldn't be true either. Her smile was always warm and genuine when she looked at him. He would smile back at her with his teeth that were a little too long, set on a face that almost, if you squinted, still looked like he was a beast. His horns had nearly disappeared, but when Belle would run her fingers through his thick, luscious hair, she could still feel just a prick of them.

Of course the town people remembered him, though they struggled with the fact that they too had been cursed. How could they have possibly been cursed for so long and no one had been the wiser? Belle tried to get more people to come to the palace to meet him, to participate in his welcome back ball, but very few came back.

"Maybe you should go home," one day Adam sighed, putting his head in her lap.

"I am home," Belle insisted, once again running her fingers through his hair.

"You know that's not what I meant. The townspeople... they are afraid of me. Your father still is cross with me, and how could I blame him? I kidnapped him and then you. I'm sorry," he muttered, nuzzling her leg and grabbing her thighs with his paw like hands, his long nails lightly scrapping her delicate skin there.

"Wherever you are is home to me," she purred, kissing the top of his head.

In the next room, Cogsworth was getting annoyed with Lumiere for once again flirting with the maids. It always caused such a mess. The large man grabbed Lumiere by the tie, tugging him closer to him.

"If you don't stop with this nonsense at once, I'm going to have to insist to the Master that you have a leave of absence, and where would you go if not here?" Cogsworth hisses, his mustache twitching as if they were hands on a clock ticking.

"Oh Cogsworth, my dear friend, are you jealous, mm? Do you miss us being, how would you say, stored together?" Lumiere smirked, looking up at the little man with a twinkle in his eyes.

Cogsworth blushed, letting go of the former candle. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"

"Mm, don't be so quick to sweep, my dear friend. We could be stored together tonight if you like," he continued to smirk, the start of a flame sparking off the tip of a lock of hair, dying as the ember wafered between them.

"Do you have a rat problem?"

You were chilling in your apartmant waiting for your boyfriend Sal to come over. You called him a few minuts ago over your walkie-talkie he gave to you not too long ago.

While waiting for him, you decided to play with your two pet rats Harry and Jerry. ( don't ask why i named them that, it's the first thing that came to my mind and it rhymes.)

You took them both out of their cage and placed Jerry, the darker gre one, on your shoulder. And kept Larry in your hands as you gently stroked his tiny head.

You checked their cage in the meantime, making sure it was clean and they had all they need. When suddenly there was a knock on your front door.

Finally. That should be Sal. Even tho he literally lives in the same apartmant building as you, he somehow always takes too long to get to your apartmant.

You placed Harry on your other shoulder and went to get the door. You opend the door and there you saw your living boyfriend Sal with his usual mask on. But only this time you could see his eyes were slightly wide?

"You have rats?!"

was literally the first thing he said to you. "Yea? and your making it sound like i have a rat problem.."

for a moment he was silent while he watched the air of rats climb around your shoulders, sniffing your neck.

You moved to the side and let Sal in so you two could sit in your living room.

"These are my pet rats, how come you never noticed their cage in my bedroom?"

You asked slightly confused while filling a glass of water for him and getting some snacks out. Meanwhile, Harry and Jerry were still just chilling on your shoulders.

"I mean yea i did notice the cage.. but i thought it was for a hamster..."

You chuckle out slightly as you place the glass water on the coffee table and a bowl of some chips.

Comfortably, you sat down on the couch next to Sal. "Wanna pet them?"

you straight up asked him while holding Harry in the palm of your hands, while Jerry was climbing on top of your head.

Not gonna lie, Sal thought it was cute. How you had pet rats and how much you loved animals in general.

Sal nodded his head as he bought his hand to pet Harry.

"gently now."

You told Sal as he began to pet his little head, he seemd to enjoy it.

"Aww i think he likes you"

"Really? Well thats a realife, i don't know what i would've done if my partners pet rats didn't like me."

Sal joked as you two laughed together.

The rest of the time, Sal was playing with your two rats. For a moment it seemed as if he liked them more than you (that ain't true yall). It was cute seeing him smile and laugh without his mask. Especially while he played with your rats.

Now that you think about it.. you gotta be extra careful about them if you want to live with him... I mean gizmo, come on.

how did you get the confidence to write fanfiction? i always worry that i won't portray the characters properly so any ideas or wants to write fanfics that i have go away or i talk myself out of it :(

Well! First and foremost: Most people don't start writing,,,, anything with confidence. Let alone fanfic, where you know other people are going to be looking at it, with their own ideas of how the characters are supposed to act and feel influencing what they're coming to the story with. My first fanfic I was very insecure, which I feel like was evident, reading through the author's notes now. Apologies whenever something that required a lot of suspension of disbelief happened, a poll so readers could decide the ending so I wouldn't disappoint anybody, only to end in me writing and posting three different endings. Long justifications for why I chose certain things in the author's notes. The fic nowadays reads to me like a very rough apology.

"Hi I'm sorry I tried. Be kind I'm very scared."

But the thing about writing that fic was, it was the writerly equivalent of jumping into the deep end of the pool for the first time. After I bobbed back to the surface and realized a shark hadn't like, taken my legs off while I was down there, jumping in again got easier. And kept getting easier. And now I just write and post things.

There's kind of two schools of thought that I've seen people subscribe to, when it comes to taking the first leap. The one that's really popular around here on Tumblr is: Do it scared. It is simple and straightforward. You are scared. You will be scared. You probably never won't be scared. So do it scared. Write your thing, close your eyes and hit send [either to post it or to share it with one or two friends, or even just hitting the "save" button and not deleting it]. Get scared, do it, close your eyes, finish. When you open your eyes again and nothing terrible has happened, you can breathe a sigh of relief and do it scared again. It's a little nerve-wracking at first, but the idea is giving your mind the association of jumping and not falling. I did it and I didn't fail, therefore it is safe to do it again.

The other school of thought [the one I specifically subscribe to] is: Do it once. What you think or feel about it doesn't matter. What matters is you did it once. Maybe it will be hell, or it'll suck terribly. Maybe you're really excited! And it turns out great! Maybe its a wild ride of ups and downs, and by the end you need a few months to catch your breath and decide if it was worth it. Regardless: you did it once. Now you know, if you want to, you can do it again. Now you can decide if its worth doing again. For me, the euphoria of finishing a project always far outweighs the trouble getting there, so the step forward of "Do it once" is powerful for me. And that can be broken down too. "Write one chapter." "Draw one drawing." "Clean one room in the house." There is no pressure to continue if its really that terrible, but you at least get to decide if one was worth it [and a solid 9 times out of 10, one was worth it enough to do it more.]

Now, all that said, if what you're worried about is writing the characters right and nothing else -- don't worry too much. Most people care less about how true to life the characters are, and care a lot more about consistency in the story. An example from RnS: In canon, Helsknight is a cartoonish villain with one motivation, and that motivation is taking over hermitcraft Doofenschmirtz style. To date, no one has come into my inbox demanding I change him, because he's so OOC he's basically an OC at this point. What people have come into my inbox about though, is "Hey, you established X in this chapter, but he said Y in this chapter. Was there a reason for that?" which is them saying, "Why didn't you keep your character consistent?" If you tell your audience what the expectations are for the story and you stick with them, they will stop caring about OOC moments and characterizations, and will trust you're going somewhere with your writing. Suspension of disbelief, your powerful friend! They put the world on their shoulders and carry and everybody watches and claps.

If you're also worried about consistency, then start out with one shots! There's a lot less room for error, no large, sweeping character arcs to keep track of. And stringing a bunch of one-shots together can give you practice with character consistency and progression without committing to something massive and overarching. If you're truly worried about making the characters exactly like Canon [or the Canon in your head], I recommend making little lists of character traits, or important things you want to keep in mind. At that point you're scared of your own consistency, and you just need a framework to keep yourself consistent enough for yourself, if that makes sense?

ethan noticed almost immediately when you began to slowly drift from him. it wasn't on purpose, of course, and you weren't even aware of this fact. you'd began texting him less and less during the week and stopped calling him. he became anxious, his leg bouncing and mind drifting during classes. did he do something to upset you?

he chewed his lip anxiously as he made his way up to your apartment, his hands clenching into fists and unclenching as they grew clammy. his head was running a thousand miles a minute and he dreaded what he would find.

he knocked gently on your door with the back of his knuckles, his curls slightly matted to his forehead as sweat formed along his hairline. he stood there, rocking back and forth on his heels as he waited for you to answer.

you opened the door, a blank look on your face as it hadn't even registered in your head that your boyfriend was standing at your door.

"ethan!" you exclaimed and pulled him into your apartment. "no, you aren't bothering me. sorry, i was working on an assignment."

he nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat as he followed you to sit at your dining table. you seemed to be acting normal... but then why had you been so distant? were you sick of him? were you preparing to break up with him? even worse — had you found someone better?

you furrowed your brows in concern as you'd been telling him about your assignment, though he seemed to be lost in his own thoughts.

"ethan?" you called his name softly, holding one of his hands in your own. "eth? baby," you patted his cheek gently and he flinched before looking over to you.

"hm? sorry.. what were you saying?" he looked to be in a daze and his eyes were watery, a soft pout on his lips.

you chewed the inside of your cheek and sighed. "okay, what's wrong?"

he shook his head, his hands extended outward as he shook them too. "noth— nothing's wrong! i'm fine. i'm okay."

you weren't convinced and judging by the tone he used and the way tears threatened to spill over his waterline, it didn't look like he was convinced either. you took a deep breath and reached a hand out to touch his cheek, a thumb rubbing over his cheekbone gently.

"eth? what's the matter?" you pressed on, worried about him. he tended to keep these things to himself, afraid nobody else would care. "you can tell me, hm?"

he blinked, tears beginning to run down his face and he looked down at his lap, his arms coming up to rest his elbows on the table. his hands found their way to his hair and his fingers weaved their way into the soft curls.

"i— did..." he took a shaky breath in and choked out his words. you knew he was trying to stop crying in front of you. "are you tired of me?" he asked you, his fingers gripping his curls a little tighter.

"what do you mean, love?" you looked confused, asking him this but keeping an eye on the way he gripped his hair and scalp. it was a little more than concerning now.

"you don't want to do things with me anymore, right? i was being too much for you. just like he said." he mumbled, his fingers tugging at his hair aggressively. he sniffled and sobbed, you couldn't help but compare him to a kicked puppy.

you shook your head, your hands slowly reaching up to touch the back of his.

"that isn't true, ethan. hey, let go for me, okay?" you gently tried to pry his fingers away from his hair, as to not hurt him even more. his hands shook as you get them away and they fell back down to his sides. his face looked blank but he didn't stop crying.

you got up from your chair and took the two steps over to kneel in front of him, one hand on his knee and the other cupping his jaw.

"hey," you called and his eyes made contact with yours. "ethan landry — that is not true. you aren't too much, okay? i've just been busy with classes this week." you sighed, knowing this would happen. you knew it was your fault, he tended to pay attention to peoples' schedules — especially yours — so of course that's what he would assume if you weren't speaking to him as much.

"i should've told you from the beginning, it isn't your fault. it's okay, baby," you stood up and hugged him, his face being in your stomach due to him still sitting down.

he let out small whimpers as he attempted to muffle his cries, his arms wrapping around you to pull you closer.

you shushed him softly and smoothed his hair down, fixing the curls back into place.

"i love you, okay?" you reassured him as you leant down to kiss his head. "okay?" you asked when he didn't respond, seemingly thinking over whether he should believe you or not.

finally, he nodded and hugged you tighter.

"i love you too."

I know this person probably just enjoyed these fics and wanted to share them but posting content that is not your own without the owner knowing is not OK.

There is a reason why some works are not on some platforms and it is in the hand of the creator to decide which way they want to share their hard worked-on content.

So, please. Even if you want to “help”, just enjoy the work as it is and where it is. Comment, like, reblog or (if you may) share the link to the original but do not just copy paste the actual thing into your own accounts. If the owner wants help spreading their talent they’ll let you know. I, for one, explicitly write not to share on any other site than the ones I post on. People have reasons and those should be respected.

Here are some examples:

Posting things that are not your own may lead to confusion about authorship. Even if you do credit the original creator, the recognition for them can be deminished - we don’t want that.

Copying and pasting things into another platform may alter the original. This could (in the worst case) lead to a misinterpretation of the original author’s intent. Altering someone’s creative vision is not what anyone involved in the process wants - don’t do it.

Reposting without consent is simply violating property and copywriting law. Creators earn their right to control what they put out as much as they are responsible for how it gets out and who gets to see it. Don’t take that control away from them. Having your own shit ripped away from you is not nice - just stop it.

And lastly, coming from a place of constant evolvement and self improvement, creators want to be able to see the feedback their work gets. If it is puplished on an account that they do not have access to, it strips away the opportunity to interact with recipients and possibly grow with their responses. You’re keeping kindness and improvement away from the creator you adore and interfere with their way of making more and better content that you could enjoy - please don’t.

I hope this opened some eyes or helped in any way. Please respect creators and keep to their guidelines on how to share their work. Copyright is important, so please spread awareness.

Your discord server is not fun or a good place, everyone ignores the new members, even the mods are bad, they don't do anything

This isn’t true in the least 🤔 the first thing people see when they join is a hoard of people welcoming them to the server.

We only have 4 mods, some are inactive due to work or college. And don’t you dare say they don’t do anything, Grace(one of the mods) keeps the server running every day.

I’m sorry if you personally had a bad experience, but I’m willing to talk with anyone if they talk in the server. I haven’t been very active lately because I’m a busy person and have been babysitting and tutoring lately, but I welcome every single member.

One of the rules in my server even states you can tag or dm me if you need to! I’m open to chatting mostly, just don’t expect an answer quickly or at all if I don’t know you. I’m an anxious and shy person when talking one on one, lolol.

Anyways, we are all strangers. When you join a new server you are joining a discord full of people you don’t know. If you aren’t feeling welcome, maybe try talking to the server and getting to know others. We can’t make you feel included if you don’t speak up, I’m not a mind reader.

Heya, a question came to my mind , and I am interested what you think ... If Alastor is sensitive to touch , how is it with the leash he is on. I mean ,do you think its always perceptible or only when summoned? Because if, that would a person drive crazy , dont you think ?( I cant wear jewelery and tight clothes make me feel like wanting to rip my skin Off, scarfs are a punishment, so i would really go insane).

So I think it Has to be Not permanently perceptible 🤔

In an earlier chapter, Husk mentions that the collar does make you feel constricted, though I don't have him explain whether he means that as a physical sensation or mental perception. Alastor is a very different character than Husk though, and even if that 'constricted' feeling Husk mentioned was meant as more of a mental symptom than a literal, physical one; I think Alastor would probably "feel" it at all times. He definitely struggles when he feels like he's losing control of a situation, and I think that even if the collar was near imperceptible when not summoned, he would still be hyper-aware of it 24/7.

I'm literally always on the hunt for shifter content and my goodness I'm in love. I love Bun!Ghost and the idea you've taken on. If I was actually good at writing plots I might snag him (with credits for the original idea behind him ofc) just read the first chapter of your fic and while I had to go definition hunting it was really cool. Anyways, just here to say I absolutely adore the big bunny man 😂

That's what happened to me, I'd been told for years I was a terrible writer and should drop my dreams of being a writer. I was pretty down in the dumps and figured fuck it, I wasn't seeing the exact fic I wanted to see so I'd just write it myself. And then I dropped some one-shots, and was begged to continue those by the community. Eventually got here, where I've got a million wips, but people enjoy what I manage to put out. It's a great feeling.

So yeah, write a little bunny!Ghost blurb! I'd love to read it 🥰
