I've seen a few times in Dp x DC fics when Danny is first introduced to the Justice League and meets Captain Marvel, that they both know the other is actually a kid and not an immortal being, but pretends to be old friends so as to not be outed and tricks the JL together.

Now I bring you, neither of them know the other is a kid and both Actually think the other is immortal but still somehow ends up pretending to be besties. How? Time travel.

This is their actual first meeting, but in the future, Danny will time travel back to the past and meet past Champions of Magic. Billy, as the current Champion of Magic, has inherited the knowledge of these meetings, but thinks they happened chronologically = Phantom is immortal. So he use that knowledge to bullshit his way into pretending he's been all those old Champions and greets Danny as an old friend to sell his Old as Shit act before the JL.

Danny in turn doesn't know about those past meetings but he Does know about time travel. So when Captain Marvel greets him like an old friend and start recounting their different meetings throughout history, Danny assumes he's gonna time travel and do all those things one day (accurately). But he's pretending to be immortal, not a time traveling teen, and so has to pretend that he Totally Remembers That One Time In Greece, Yup!

Pouch for keys, wallet, IDs, etc.

BARNABY WITH PANTS??? BLASPHEMY!!! however this is a (dnd-inspired) fantasy au so. pants! loose pants tucked into modified boots because no one can tell me No!

based off of Clown's pokemon au human Barn, it seems like he might be a bit of a jewelry guy! he was wearing rings! and had an earring! also i think Barn just looks great w/ some extra shinies, yk yk

since ties aren't really a Thing in fantasy settings, i combined the iconic pattern w/ his vest for a two-in-one. then suspenders bc they fuck severely! his belt buckle is a bone both as a nod to the pattern on his tie / house decoration, and to go along with how Wally has an apple buckle! besties stay twinning!

you can't see it but on his other side he has his pack & his smoking pipe holster, which attaches to his belt! it's very high quality leather that he spent so much money on. his pipe is important to him - he carved it himself out of wood from an important tree from his childhood, so he wants it to be properly stored & protected! he has two kinds of tobacco for it - normal, and magic tobacco that essentially allows him to cast minor spells w/ the smoke

the feathers on his hat are from Ms. Beagle! in my mind he left the farm to go adventuring on a bit of a bad note, but his mama made sure to give him a couple feathers to take with so that she'd always be close <3

he keeps his claws blunt so that he doesn't accidentally scratch people/things, and so that he can play stringed instruments without cutting the strings. while i imagine for this au he plays a wide range, he prefers Loud Handheld Instruments that allow him to sing along. so in mind he has an Accordion here! loud! jaunty! but i imagine he also keeps a recorder in his pack for when Frank needs annoying. (he did have a lute, but he broke it over someone's head in the act of defending Wally's honor)

im still trying to pin down the right balance of colors for his outfit, but! for a little au tidbit - all of his spots are the same two blues as his ears. in this im imagining that he, at a young age, learned a very basic cosmetic spell that allowed him to change his spots color to mimic Ms. Beagle's! he wanted to look like his mama! but by the time he's in his late 20s he no longer changes his spots

ohhhh i forgot to add his pockets. Oh Well

3 Signs You Just Returned From Astral Travel

These apply to beginners, not to veteran wanderers, who should wake up feeling normal.

Extreme Weakness

Natural physical weakness comes from feeling fatigued after a workout, or due to illness or lack of sleep.

The kind of physical weakness that comes with having wandered is different. You feel almost incapable of making the slightest movement, while knowing you are not paralyzed. You have to fight just to keep your eyes open, when you know you slept well and should not be tired. It’s as if you slept for a thousand years, and now your body no longer accepts your authority.

This happens when your soul has not yet fully returned to your physical vessel, but the latter has already awakened. It’s like trying to start a car with no fuel.

Prolonged Disorientation

Normal disorientation can happen to anyone. You take a nap, and you wake up not knowing where you are or what year it is. It fades after a few seconds.

But the disorientation that comes with having astral traveled takes between a full minute and half an hour. Even just the one minute could feel like torture. Within this period, you may fail to recognize your surroundings. You may even assume you have been kidnapped. You might look in the mirror and not recognize your face, making you wonder if you are still dreaming or if your real body has been stolen.

This happens when you are suddenly awakened by external stimuli (the sound of an ambulance or someone slamming a door in your house), while you are wandering in a past life. Your visit to your past self gets cut short without notice. So when your soul wakes up inside your body, it does not immediately recognize it.

Morning Anxiety

While it is an official term, morning anxiety is not a clinical condition. It can happen to people untouched by anxiety or depression.

You wake up with a feeling of dread. Heaviness looms. Darkness embraces. Worry reigns. Your mind cannot explain it. It’s not as if you are nervous about a presentation for work, or an exam in school. For no logical reason at all, you are completely on edge. This feeling fades after taking long deep breaths, or drinking or eating anything in this realm.

This happens when while wandering, your soul encountered a malevolent being, or learned a devastating truth about your soul kin. It can be compared to a cliffhanger. A shocking scene before cutting to commercial.

While all three helpfully serve as confirmation that you just wandered successfully, with enough practice, you should outgrow these.

The blue hour was when I liked to do my night photography. This was a 2-second exposure on tripod taken in 2016 with the 2004 Panasonic Lumix LC1. The lens on this camera rendered fabulous resolution even with a mere 5-megapixel sensor.

I'm so glad you love my fics!

Writing tips are sooooooooo tricky for me...hmmm...well I think the main thing is the unfortunate truth of just writing. Don't overthink it as you go, don't try to make every detail perfect, just WORD VOMIT and then you can always go back and edit!

I also think that you should always write what you feel like writing. That's why TTSBC and TT are written the way they are, so I can bop around. And I know most of the time it's like 'but it's fanfic you don't write what you don't feel like writing!' which is true but if you write in long form you can get hung up on certain scenes and then not finish anything.

Ramble ramble ramble...something about how you should just WRITE! If you need to skip scenes, skip them, if you wanna just do dialogue, just do dialogue, just get words on the page!

As far as any technical help...hmmm...I mean, one thing I find always helps is to keep in mind how immersive little details can be!

For example in Handshakes and Headaches, when the story switches to Hypno's POV, he only refers to Scar and Grian as 'Professor Goodtimes' and 'Professor Slab' because of course he does. He's their student, he would never consider them by first name even internally, so the narrator when in his perspective also doesn't do that.

Keep in mind what your POV character knows and what they care about!

Another example I like is with Scott and Jimmy in TTSBC!

If we're in Scott's POV, you're going to find him noticing a lot more about peoples body language and expressions, very small details that don't come up as much in other POVs from TTSBC.

If we're in Jimmy's POV, you won't notice those things as often, but you're definitely gonna know what the weather is like, how bright the lighting is, if it's hot or cold, because of his love of the sky and fresh air. Those are things that matter to Jimmy as a character, and therefore they matter to the narrator!
