happy first day of pride month 2024; please remember this month to hold your fellow queers up as high as you can, and to let them speak as loud as they need to. we are watching violent spikes in transphobia and trans panic this year as more and more bills and laws are proposed to make it difficult or impossible for trans people to medically or socially transition in the United States. we are seeing an all time high in trans panic in general- i have witnessed it personally in my own city, people freaking out about even the slightest gender non conformity. gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual and other queer folks are fighting for their rights in places like Russia and Africa. queerphobia is at a peak right now
no more petty arguing about who has it better or worse- we are upholding the entire queer community this year. your brothers, sisters and siblings with identities you don't understand need space this year. boygirls, lesboys, gaybians, fagdykes, bisexual gays and lesbians, transmasc and male lesbians, transfem and female gays all need space. intersex people need space. all trans folks, trans women, trans men, non binary people, genderfluid people, bigender and multigender people, xenogender people, and people with the weirdest genders you've ever seen need a platform to speak. nonhuman queers, disabled queers, neurodivergent queers need space. people of color with cultural identities like two-spirit folk need space. bisexuals and pansexuals have to lift each other up high and scream for each others rights. aromantics, asexuals, agender people and other aspec folks need to be heard.
now more than ever we need to unite and make our community stronger than ever. we need each other right now. let's be here for each other. even if we don't fully understand one another, it doesn't matter. we're siblings, family, whatever you'd like to call it- we are part of the same beautiful rainbow and it's time to act like it. i appreciate every member of my queer family, let's take care of each other this Pride. we owe it to each other.

happy pride to bigender people!
M/F bigender people F/X bigender people M/X bigender people X/X bigender people intersex bigender people bigender people who identify as trans bigender people who identify as cis bigender people who identify as neither xenogender bigender people nonbinary bigender people genderqueer bigender people bigender people of color bigender people whose identity is tied to cultural or religious traditions bigender people whose gender is tied to their disability or mental health disabled (of all kinds) bigender people bigender queer elders bigender people who are closeted bigender people who feel excluded from the queer/LGBTQ community we are often forgotten about in queer spaces - finding pride flags, pronoun pins, and the like can be extremely difficult, I can attest - and our complicated relationship with our gender & orientation is often under scrutiny in discourse. the bigender label has a long and storied history, and belongs within these spaces. happy pride month to my fellow bigender folks, we deserve a lovely june!

Happy Disability Pride Month!!!
Remember Folks:
- SELF CARE IS NUMBER ONE
- Use your spoons sparingly! Here’s some spoons to go: 🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄
- Clean your mobility aids! (Seriously dude when was the last time you wiped that shit down with an antibacterial?)
- Accommodate yourself, as others will follow.
- Make goals within your reach and abilities
- DO YOUR COPINGS SKILLS
- Remember to stay hydrated and take your meds!
- For my fellow heat sensitive homies, stay cool this summer! A cold rag draped behind your neck, airy clothing, a small portable hand fan, keeping ice packs ready, cold water and expecially cold electrolyte drinks, all do wonders!
- For my fellow autistic folks, don’t be afraid wear earmuffs, stim, use chew charms, whatever it is that helps you regulate. You don’t have to mask if it’s something that isn’t benefitting to your life.
- POTS havin mofos like me, salt the ever loving fuck out of your food. Try different foods with salt, such as fruits and vegetables! I’m currently eating a salty tomato. Drink lots of water, I’ve been aiding gateraid packets to my water and it’s made a HUGE difference, especially as someone who hates drinking water.
- Those with PTSD for whatever reason, I wish you safety and support as you learn to cope and hopefully heal.
- I don’t know exactly what to say to others with H-EDS, as I’m still understanding this disorder other then BE CAREFUL WITH YOURSELF THIS PRIDE MONTH. I swear to god we are the most accident prone mother fuckers lmfao-
- If your immune system is all fucky like mine, keep clean and be sanitary, communicate with others that if they’re sick you can’t be around them, and wear a mask if you feel like that’s the right option for you. In my hometown I’ve gotten yelled at more than once for wearing a mask post-covid, however you can’t let someone else’s ignorance result in your own suffering.
- Don’t forget to move around and stretch! A little movement can do a lot for your body.
- Check in with your disabled friends! Try and see if there’s any way you can help one another, see where both of your strengths and weaknesses lie, and swap some spoons!!
- Be aware of what triggers your disorders. Whether if it’s caffeine triggering bipolar episodes, the weather causing fibro flares, big changes causing meltdowns, overexerting your hypermobility, whatever it is, it matters. Listen to your body and mind.
- Don’t be afraid to call out that doctor who isn’t listening, dismissing your symptoms and medically gaslighting you.
- While it may not seem like a big difference for some, trust me when I say your appetite is so important! Remember if it comes down to it, that it’s better to eat something, ANYTHING, than nothing at all.
- To that person who might be hesitant, ashamed or might be questioning wether or not they should use a mobility aid, if it’s the difference between you being stuck at home vs going out and living some life… USE THAT MOBILITY AID!!! Same goes for braces and any other tool that may help you live a better quality of life.
- Be accepting towards those with disabilities different then your own- remember this month isn’t a competition about who’s struggling the most, rather to understand that people of physical, psychological, sensory, neurodivergence, and even undiagnosed disabilities all share one thing in common.. WHICH IS BEING DISABLED!
- Doesn’t matter who you are, how young or old, black or white, thick or thin - the disabled minority is one you can end up becoming a part of at any time, and likely will if you live long enough. Disability doesn’t discriminate, so EVERYONE should be advocating for disabled people’s rights.
- And of course, have pride in being disabled. This shit is fucking hard, but if you’re reading this, you’re doing it. Just being here today and doing what you can handle or manage, is doing your best, and that’s enough. You don’t have to push yourselves to impossible lengths to be proud of yourself.
Here, have the disability pride flag:

This disability pride month can we remember that people with invisible disabilities exist? Just saw a rancid post in my For You which was needlessly judgemental of people using disabled toilets who don't have an obvious disability or a mobility aid.
I know that post is from someone who is probably bitter about ableism in society and has sadly turned that against their fellow disabled people, but as someone who has numerous invisible disabilities can we not make it harder for non-visibly disabled people to access toilets please? My IBS isn't particularly noticeable unless you happen to have X-Ray vision.
Anyway, happy disability pride month to my fellow (normally) invisibly disabled people. I shouldn't be accommodated only on days when I have my cane with me. I should be accommodated all year round.
Radical opinion but disabled loos are also for the use of neurodivergent people. Instead of bickering with other disabled folks, turn that energy to lobbying for greater disabled loo provision. Rights aren't pie etc.
Other invisibly disabled people ily

Happy Pride Month! I'm being evicted at the end of June. 👌
I'm Aisling, some folks call me Mori. I'm a chronically ill (and terminally unemployable) nonbinary queer individual. My current landlord hates me, my ex wants me to move into his parents house, and I'm not well off or healthy enough to afford things like rent, nor do I have anything close to financial security.
Disability is giving me the run around still, and my energy is minimal due to CFS, Fibromyalgia, and multiple environmental hazards to my health. I have no guarantee of a place to land. I might have one avenue, but since things are still very much up in the air, its possible I'll be homeless by the end of this month.
Fun stuff!
I know there are many other folks suffering way more than me, so if all your spare cash is going to those in more dire need and imminent danger, I understand.
But if you'd like to help me afford things like cat food and basic necessities for me and my familiar, it would be most helpful.
Aisling Mori, left, pronouns fae/faer and they/them.
Squirtle "Squi", right, pronouns she/her.

My Ko-Fi sh*p is also doing a 50% off special this month. Just type in the coupon code "PRIDE" at checkout. It will be valid til the end of June, and is available for EVERY physical item in stock. I'll be temporarily closing soon after, and anything leftover is liable to be put in storage, so this is your excuse to grab something if you've been putting it off!

Every lil bit helps. Pls don't tag as d*nation or m*tual a*d as it'll tank this post's ability to circulate. Pls reblog if you can.
Thank you!

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I am currently so so sick. Audio drama is a great comfort. Love my stories ❤️
🐱Kakos Industries is always good, and this episode was a pretty typical episode of it, but I just need you all to understand how much i love Kakos Industries. If you need a new lowkey comedy podcast, I can’t recommend it enough.
📱 @worldgonewrongpod never misses. This episode was about bureaucracy, the real horror, and was equal parts funny and infuriating, but it hit so hard on a real truth, the way real people’s everyday lives are affected by sloppy civic design. This is the first week of Disability Pride Month, and I can’t help but think about how police brutality disproportionally affects disabled folks—how much worse would it be in this world affected by aliens and mythology and monsters? People already associate disability with evil. It’s a good reminder.
👼 Literally what do you even say about the Silt Verses? I am amazed in this episode at the parallels between Rane and Faulkner on the one hand and, way back in season two (maybe?), Elgin and Paige on the other hand. They approached the weird strained relationship they had with honestly and now they are working together; Rane and Faulkner were backstabbing and power-hungry from the start and now? Well. This is all to say nothing about the freakin sound design this episode. Can't wait to see how this story ends.
✅ The Deposition is a new show from Hug House, a dramatized nonfiction podcast where actors like Josh Rubino (Kingmaker Histories, Valence, etc) read, word-for-word, the record of a deposition of Famed Internet Idiot Elon Musk. It is. INCREDIBLE. It’s hard to even describe it. Please listen to it, I need to talk to someone about it.
🤖 HELLO, LISTEN TO ASK YOUR FATHER. I just got to episode seven and no spoilers. But I knew it, I frikkin knew it.
No Hannah news this week, I’m too tired, I’m gonna nap. Go listen to Inn Between and make me some fan art to speed my recovery, i love you, have a good week

LISTEN UP GAYBIES
PRIDE MONTH IS FAST APPROACHING!!! WITH IT COMES HAPPY FUN AND GAY TIMES YES BUT ALSO PLEASE PLLEEEAAASSSSEEEE BE CAREFUL!
Firstly ! If its your first time queer club, shitty people exist all over! Keep a hand on your drink, if you go to the bathroom and leave your drink behind it's as good as dead. Never EVER leave a drink unattended or drink from an unwatched cup!
Secondly ! If you're going to a pride parade and there's even a HUNCH of danger, always ALWAYS make sure you have escape routes planned, or you have/know someone with a car who can get you out! If you do end up in confrontation, and you're wearing makeup or glitter, smear that shit ALLL over them so you can identify them later, if you're in a place where having a parade could be dangerous PLEASE JUST STAY HOME! Your safety is more important!! I beg of you!
Thirdly ! Pride is a safe space for EVERYONE! Just because someone looks like they are in a straight relationship, you never know! They could be disabled, they could be trans, they could be questioning or queer! It is NEVER your right to judge someone based off of who they present themself as or who they are partners with, and if you DO judge people, you're just as bad as the homophobic folk.
Finally ! I love all of you, stay safe out there my little dudes, dudettes, and dexes. You're all valid, important, strong, and beautiful people!!!!!
Happy Pride

Poll: what model of disability would you associate with the colour green?
[Poll at bottom of post]
A a few months back, I proposed new meanings for the Disability Pride Flag that was designed by @capricorn-0mnikorn in consultation with a bunch of disabled folks. For those unfamiliar, it's this rockin' flag:
Tumblr media
I proposed instead of having the coloured stripes being associated with categories of impairment (red for physical disability, yellow for neurodivergence, etc), we could instead have the different colours refer to different models of disability. I proposed:
Red: disability due to injury / the debility model of disability - e.g. injury due to armed conflicts caused by colonialism, injury due to gun violence in a country which fails to regulate gun safety, preventable illness due to sociopolitical neglect 😡🩸
Yellow: disability due to natural (beneficial) differences / affirmative models of disability - e.g. autistic people who lead lives that take advantage of their autistic traits, DSPS folks who are able to work night shifts and take pride in doing so 😄🌟
Blue: situational disabilities / critical models like the social model, e.g. a Deaf person who feels their only disability is that people don’t speak their signed language and don’t provide captions/etc 🗣️♿️
Green: disability due to illness / biomedical models of disability - e.g. people with conditions like ME/CFS and Long Covid who actually do want to be treated/cured 🤢🦠
White: disability caused by unknown or other factors / other models
I'm pretty happy with all of the colour-model associations except green, and would like input on if there's a more suitable colour to use instead.
👍️ Advantages of green for medical model: - green is associated with disease, sickness, poison, etc - it is a major model of disability, even if it is one that disability organizing tends to be organizing against
👎️ Disadvantages of green for medical model: - the original meanings had green down as meaning sensory disability, and a lot of folks with sensory disabilities like the Deaf community reject the medical model quite strongly - from what I've since seen of other disability-specific flags, green is the most common colour used for neurodiversity (e.g. this autigender flag), another group that strongly rejects the medical model - there are almost no flags that embrace the medical model, and the only two I'm familiar with - the Crohn's flag and the transmedicalist flag - both use *white* as the colour of medicine. Lab coats etc. - rolling the medical model into the white stripe ("other models") would fit both the medicine-as-white association and how invisibly disabled people are often those fighting for care
Some weeks back I posted asking for alternative ideas for a model of disability for green. These are the options sent my way:
⚖️
Option 1: human rights model. Disability is viewed as a natural part of being human, and humans should have basic civil rights. This is a legalistic framework. It's used for advancing legal protections, gaining workplace accomodations, etc. Unlike the social model it can be kind of (but not entirely) individualistic: a given individual has their rights infringed, so laws need to be created and enforced to protect them.
Green is a colour used sometimes to represent humanity (though teal/cyan I think is a bit more common.) It's a model compatible with the neurodiversity movement and Deaf pride. People who are sick and want to be treated are also compatible in that they deserve a right to medical care.
🧬
Option 2: biodiversity model. Disability is beneficial for the gene pool because genetic variety makes for more resilient populations. Unlike the affirmation model, this doesn't see every disability as actually good to have - for example, sickle cell disease sucks for those who have it, but the heterozygosity advantage it provides for the population makes it a net asset.
Green is a colour associated with nature. I'd say this is also compatible with neurodiversity & Deaf pride + sick people.
✊️
Option 3: radical model. Disability is entirely a social construct. There is nothing wrong with any of us (Withersaj, 2012). The social construction of disability was created in order to marginalize segments of society - such as how IQ testing and the idea of "intelligence" was created by eugenics to rationalize slavery. This model is strongly connected with mad pride (Ralph, 2018)
This one probably isn't compatible with sick people who want care. Many neurodivergent & Deaf people would resonate with it, but I suspect some folks who feel their neurodivergence can be at times legitimately disabling may push back on this.
🕸️
Option 4: political/relational model. Any discussion of disability is inherently political. Rather than disability being an individual problem or a macro-societal problem, this is a hybrid: "disablement as something that occurs because of ideological systems that disenfranchise disabled people, not individual needs or choices." (Price, 2021). This model pushes back on the disability/impairment dichotomy from the social model: "This model recognizes that it is not the environment that disables us, but our own bodies and minds (e.g. chronic fatigue or pain)." (Accessible Academia)
Green is a colour often used for symbolizing relationships. I think this is compatible with neurodiversity & Deaf pride, while also being open to sick people who want treatment.
🍃
Option 5: eco-crip model. This is in some ways the opposite of the political/relational: the environment is disabling. For example, many environmental toxins are known to cause disabilities. Many disabled people are particularly vulnerable to changes in the physical environment, especially climate change: smoggy air, power outages, evacuations from disasters, are all things that hurt disabled people much harder.
Unlike the radical model, this model views disability as not (only) a social phenomenon: even in a world with universal design everywhere and accommodations in place, a paraplegic still can't hike most trails.
📊
This brings us to six options for models of disability for green. Tumblr lets you only vote for one, but if you like multiple (or you're AGAINST one or more) let me know in the replies/reblogs. 💚
