Reddit Is Handing Out Awards to Its Frustrated Moderators
Image: chrisdorney (Shutterstock) A tidal wave of strife plagued Reddit following the popular social media platform’s decision to charge exorbitant fees for access to its API. Now, the company wants to reward the free labor of the moderators it once antagonized. there's a really funny 3d printing controversy going on btw.
if you don't know, there's a very popular 3d printing model out there called "benchy". this is used for benchmarking your 3d printer because it's a difficult print and will help test it out.
Tumblr media
this is so widely used that people make their own little versions of it, remixing the 3d model to make benchy look cooler and stuff. however, a new company owns the benchy license. they are sending copyright takedowns to all those who wrongfully uploaded the benchy model.
of course, this is pissing off the 3d printing community greatly. everyone loved benchy and have used it for years. so someone on reddit decided to make a new model that is designed as a 3d printing stress test. one that works a lot like benchy, and people are freely able to edit it as they please. you know what they called it?

Livejournal was cool. It was pretty easy to find and interact with people.
However, there was a great purge a while back. It was a bit like the tumble porn purge - accounts with art were banned for “porn” even if it was basic figure drawing or pictures of gays kissing, meanwhile actual hardcore straight porn was still getting through
So most the people I know just left.
That's the thing, I know it was but for some reason not for me rip 😭 I poked around but was unable to find like... anything substantial on there, let alone the communities that I knew existed lol. I was probably going about it wrong but it just seemed like an empty wasteland to me. Like I set up my little blog, then what was I supposed to do?
Yeah afaik lj and ff.net had kind of a more... moralistic stance on fan content than we're used to now. I remember the ff.net mods would crack down pretty hard on random stuff back in the day and get very personally involved. Also the 'slash' shipping wars were HUGE apparently though I was not involved. This was before sjw tumblr changed the world, and it was more acceptable to just be outright homophobic on the internet lol
Honestly before tumblr I spent most of my time on random forums, at the time the invisionfree-type boards were popular. I remember being on a spuffy one (I want to say it was called Elysian Fields) and various Harry Potter ones. I even made invisionfree boards idk what they were about anymore though. I think I had some that were just me and 3 friends lol it was totally free and pretty easy to get the hang of basic html for them. god this is so long ago I must have been like 13-14

Senate Democrats are trying to gut Section 230
4/18/2025
Section 230 is a law passed in the 90s that gave birth to the modern internet. Without it, the internet as we know it quite literally would not exist.
Gutting part of Section 230 is why there was a tumblr purge in 2018 which led to a domino effect of making the internet worse. This was written in SESTA/FOSTA.
Senators Dick Durbin (D) and Lindsey Graham (R) are introducing a bill that would “sunset” Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Section 230 is known as the “26 words that created the Internet.” It essentially allows websites to host users’ speech and engage in good faith moderation without being held legally liable for every post users make. Without it, platforms would have to choose between ducking lawsuits by pre-censoring "controversial" content or abandoning moderation altogether. Smaller, decentralized platforms like Bluesky, Mastodon, Signal, and Reddit would likely be tanked by lawsuits, while Big Tech companies like Meta, Google, and X would survive, solidifying their monopolies
There would be no more organizing protests like Tesla Takedown online, no more posting about abortion resources or trans healthcare, and no more independent media. With the Trump admin escalating attacks on immigrants, students, journalists, and protestors, we can’t afford to lose online organizing spaces and access to information. Tell lawmakers: hands off Section 230! (link below contains petition and more details on the law)
(I know it seems like pressuring congress doesn't work, but this is how KOSA was defeated 2 sessions in a row. IT WORKS.)

Which social media platform I think each Batfam member uses the most:
Alfred: Facebook (may be controversial but he probably keeps up with people on their, maybe former classmates or relatives)
Bruce: Instagram (again, controversial, he should be a Facebook user, but he is also a billionaire playboy philanthropist, and billionaire playboy philanthropists don't use Facebook)
Dick: Instagram (like the millennial he is, his page resembles the song "White Woman's Instagram" )
Jason: Tumblr (was familiar with it before he died, but has one of those blogs that has never liked, followed, or posted anything with a default avatar and theme)
Tim: Reddit (is the top contributor on several true crime subreddits)
Steph: Instagram (mainly posts memes and purposely poorly taken photos of events she attends and places she has visited)
Cass: TikTok (uses it to learn ballet. Idk if TikTok has a ballet teaching community but I assume they do. If they don't, Cass has found videos from a single person who posts lessons and follows them exclusively)
Duke: Tumblr (has one blog he uses for everything that changes content based on his current interest)
Damian: Twitter (like the 14 year old boy he is)

It feels kinda wild I've seen no one mention the huge controversy NaNoWriMo was in about 7 months ago (Link to a reddit write up, there's also a this google doc on it) in this whole recent AI discourse. The main concerns people had were related to the 'young writers' forum, a moderator being an alledged predator, and general moderation practices being horrible and not taking things like potential grooming seriously.
About 5 months ago, after all of that went down, MLs or 'Municipal Liaisons', their local volunteers organisers for different regions of the world, were offered a horrible new agreement that basically tried to shut them up about the issues they'd been speaking up about. Some of these issues included racism and ableism that the organisation offered zero support with.
When there was pushback and MLs kept sharing what was going on, NaNoWriMo removed ALL OF THEM as MLs and sent in a new, even more strict agreement that they would have to sign to be allowed back in their volunteer position.
This agreement included ways of trying to restrict their speech even further, from not being able to share 'official communications' to basically not being allowed to be in discord servers to talk to other MLs in places not controlled by NaNoWriMo. You also had to give lots of personal information and submit to a criminal background check, despite still explicitly leaving their local regions without support and making it very clear everyone was attending the OFFICIAL in person events 'at their own risk'.
Many MLs refused to sign and return. Many others didn't even know this was happening, because they did not get any of the emails sent for some reason. NaNoWriMo basically ignored all their concerns and pushed forward with this.
Many local regions don't exist anymore. I don't know who they have organising the rest of them, but it's likely spineless people that just fell in line, people who just care about the power, or new people who don't understand what's going on with this organisation yet. Either way, this year is absolutely going to be a mess.
Many of the great former MLs just went on to organise their writing communities outside of the official organisation. NaNoWriMo does not own the concept of writing a novel in a month.
R/nanowrimo is an independent subreddit that has been very critical of the organisation since this all happened, and people openly recommend alternatives for word tracking, community, etc there, so I highly recommend checking it out.
I've seen Trackbear recommended a lot for an alternative to the word tracking / challenge, and will probably be using it myself this November.
Anyway, just wanted to share because a lot of people haven't heard about this, and I think it makes it extremely clear that the arguments about "classism and ableism" @nanowrimo is using right now in defense of AI are not vaguely misguided, but just clear bullshit. They've never given a single shit about any of that stuff.

Virgin Killer Sweater: What Is It and Why Is It So Popular?
Tumblr media
Introduction
The world of fashion is full of surprises, with trends emerging from the most unexpected places. One such trend that gained international attention is the "Virgin Killer Sweater." This risquĂŠ, backless knit garment has sparked curiosity, admiration, and even controversy across social media platforms. From its origins in Japan to its rise as a cosplay favorite, the virgin killer sweater has captivated audiences worldwide. But what exactly is it, and why has it become so popular?
What Is a Virgin Killer Sweater?
The virgin killer sweater, also known as the virgin slayer sweater, is a sleeveless, backless knit dress that features a halter neckline and a plunging open back that extends down to the lower back. Its name originates from the bold, suggestive design, which was initially believed to be so alluring that it could "kill" the innocence of a virgin with its provocative style. The sweater first gained popularity in Japan but quickly spread globally due to viral posts on platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram.
Tumblr media
The Origins of the Virgin Killer Sweater
The virgin killer sweater made its debut in Japanese fashion and cosplay communities. It was initially showcased as part of the moe culture, where characters from anime and manga are designed to appear irresistibly cute and appealing. The garment's provocative nature, paired with the innocent appeal often associated with anime characters, created a paradox that intrigued fans. Over time, variations like the virgin destroyer sweater and the virgin slayer jumper emerged, each with slight design differences but the same daring appeal. Nowadays, you can find a wide variety of options, including the popular virgin killer sweater dress, which comes in different styles and materials to suit diverse fashion preferences.
As the trend gained momentum, it became a popular choice for cosplayers looking to make a statement at conventions or on social media. The virgin killer sweater dress, in particular, found its niche among those who enjoy experimenting with edgy, unconventional fashion.
Why Is It Called the Virgin Killer Sweater?
The name "virgin killer" stems from Japanese slang, where the term "killer" is often used to describe something irresistibly attractive. The sweater's design, with its revealing back and snug fit, was considered so captivating that it could figuratively "kill" one's innocence. While the name sparked controversy, it also piqued curiosity, contributing to the garment's viral success.
Interestingly, similar names like the virgin destroyer sweater and virgin slayer dress followed, though none matched the original's level of recognition. In the cosplay community, this type of clothing is sometimes associated with playful, seductive characters from anime and manga.
Tumblr media
The Role of Anime Culture in Popularizing the Sweater
Anime and manga culture played a significant role in the popularity of the virgin killer sweater. Characters in anime often wear clothing that blends innocence with boldness, and the sweater fit this aesthetic perfectly.
Images of anime characters donning the anime virgin killing sweater quickly circulated online, drawing attention to the style. Fans of Japanese culture embraced the sweater as a playful, cosplay-friendly garment. Additionally, the term virgin destroyer sweater anime became popular among enthusiasts searching for costume inspiration.
How to Wear a Virgin Killer Sweater
Despite its provocative appearance, the virgin killer sweater can be styled in ways that suit different preferences and occasions. Here are some tips for wearing this bold garment:
Casual Look: Pair the sweater with high-waisted jeans or leggings to tone down its revealing nature while keeping it stylish.
Layered Style: Add a long-sleeve shirt underneath or a cardigan on top to create a more conservative, layered look.
Cosplay Ensemble: If you’re heading to an anime convention, pair the virgin killer sweater with accessories like thigh-high socks or hairpieces that match your character's style.
Date Night Attire: For a daring evening look, wear the sweater with heeled boots and minimal jewelry.
The virgin killer outfit is versatile enough to adapt to different settings, making it more than just a cosplay trend.
Tumblr media
The Popularity of the Virgin Killer Sweater on Social Media
The rise of social media platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok, contributed significantly to the sweater's popularity. Influencers and cosplayers from around the world showcased their unique takes on the virgin killer dress, prompting fans to seek out similar styles. The hashtag #virginkillersweater saw thousands of posts, with variations like the virgin destroyer outfit and virgin killer sweatshirt also gaining traction.
The Virgin Killer Sweater in Mainstream Fashion
While the sweater originated in niche anime and cosplay communities, it has gradually entered the broader fashion scene. Designers have experimented with different materials, lengths, and colors, transforming the garment into a statement piece for adventurous fashionistas.
The emergence of the virgin killer clothes category shows how niche trends can inspire mainstream designs. Retailers now offer versions like the virgin killer hoodie and virgin killer fashion pieces to cater to diverse tastes.
Tumblr media
Why Is the Virgin Killer Sweater So Popular?
The enduring popularity of the virgin killer sweater can be attributed to several factors:
Unique Design: The backless, high-cut design sets it apart from traditional knitwear.
Cultural Appeal: Its connection to Japanese anime and cosplay culture attracts fans worldwide.
Social Media Virality: Influencers and cosplayers continue to share creative interpretations of the sweater.
Versatile Style: While often seen as provocative, the sweater can be styled for various occasions.
The intrigue surrounding the sweater's name and origins also plays a role in its continued fascination.
Controversies and Criticism
Like many bold fashion trends, the virgin killer sweater has faced its share of controversy. Some critics argue that the garment objectifies women, especially considering its name and origins in anime culture. Others see it as a form of self-expression, emphasizing body confidence and creativity.
Discussions around the sweater often intersect with broader debates about anime culture, sexuality, and the influence of social media on fashion trends. However, fans of the garment defend it as a playful, cosplay-friendly piece that doesn't deserve the stigma often attached to it.
Tumblr media
The Future of the Virgin Killer Sweater
As fashion trends continue to evolve, the virgin killer sweater remains a symbol of how niche styles can go viral. Its success demonstrates the power of social media in transforming cultural phenomena into global trends.
Whether it's the classic virgin killer sweater dress or newer variations like the virgin destroyer sweater anime design, the garment continues to spark curiosity and creativity within the cosplay and fashion communities.
Conclusion
The virgin killer sweater is more than just a provocative piece of clothing; it represents a cultural crossover between Japanese anime, internet virality, and modern fashion. From its humble beginnings in online anime forums to its status as a global fashion curiosity, the sweater's journey is a testament to the unpredictable nature of modern trends.
Whether you're looking to make a statement at a convention, experiment with bold fashion, or simply learn about the latest internet phenomenon, the virgin killer sweater remains an intriguing and unforgettable part of contemporary style culture.

In 1952 aliens invaded the earth. Luckily, they did not invade the parts that humans live on.
Their bodies evolved to withstand massive amounts of pressure, so standing on earth's surface would cause their cells to implode. To them, the land of the earth in uninhabitable ten times over, while the deepest parts of its oceans are a perfect paradise with just the right conditions for them to exist within. They didn't even know that this planet had sapient life because they'd never think to check the upper parts of a planet's ocean, much less its dry land for civilization, and our language is too short range for them to recognize as communication.
When their generational ships first landed humanity didn't know their planet had been 'colonized'. When strange metal objects landed from the sky, we thought they were human weapons tests, with both sides of the cold war thinking their enemies were dropping strange new machines of war into the deepest trenches of the earth.
By the mid 1960s we only had the vaguest idea of them. Deep sea exploration told tales of machines that didn't match human constructions. And some even said that they spotted 'mermaids' or 'sea serpents' swimming in the world's deepest waters. When we eventually saw them for sure in 1976, we barely knew what we were looking at, their head, shoulders, and arms almost matched a human design, but the rest was so strange; their eyes were like reflective glass, and their heads had massive crests coming up from them, below their shoulders were long eel like tails, so long they could rival whales when stretched out, though their arms and heads weren't larger than ours. And their mouths so inhuman, folding up like they were nothing when closed, but turning into a mess of fangs and jaws when open. They didn't even talk like us, making low noises that traveled so far that they naturally spread themselves out, even the sprawl of America's west coast seeming like the walled city of Kowloon to their obsidian eyes.
We were afraid of them at first. The 1980s were filled with fear mongering about them, movies about invasion from below, plans to make them a front of the cold war, or far out theories about psychic powers or ftl drives seeming plausible to the public. But eventually things calmed down. The younger members of Gen X were the first people to learn about aliens in school, growing up with them as a fact of life. By the 1990s you could major in alien studies as part of your college classes. They could never meet us in person (at least not without one side wearing very bulky equipment) but they could communicate with us and share information. We incorporated each other's technology into our civilizations, learning that they were far better at creating vehicles then us, and that we were far better at creating communication then them. We read each other's stories, and histories, even a few would convert to each other's faiths. Our ideas of society are so different that our political ideologies don't ever really match up, and there's little we can trade with each other, but just barely we can share the earth.
Now, most people take them as part of the world. We see them in museums, learn about them in school. If you've ever worn power armor, or rode a meta-rail, or even visited a modern space station, you've used technology based off of theirs. Very occasionally one will go on our internet and try to interact with us (most of those reddit AMAs are fake but you never know). There was a controversy recently about a long-distance relationship a human woman had with an alien. Some even theorize the normalization of nonbinary identities was influenced by contact with them, considering that the aliens normally possess both sets of their reproductive organs (they find the fact that only one partner gets pregnant during our mating process incredibly strange).
However, as we have more interaction with their civilian population, instead of just with official ambassadors, and state sponsored scientists, we have found disturbing revelations about why they came here. They didn't leave their home world by choice, and though it might still be decades off, whatever chased them might be following them.

= PROJECT MOON LORE GUIDE =
Tumblr media
(I've posted a guide like this on Steam, but I figure it couldn't hurt to put an updated version on Tumblr, too. Also, a warning: This post is going to be very, *very* long.)
Hello, current Project Moon fandom and future/want-to-be fans!
Do you enjoy Limbus Company but don't know how to get into the other games and media to appreciate the greater lore of the series? Do you not actually have the money, time, or patience to endure a brutally punishing (and sometimes even janky) roguelike management sim, deckbuilder, or gacha game because we live in a capitalistic hellworld like the one this very series criticizes? Struggle with getting access to supplementary materials due to controversies and language barriers?
Tumblr media
(Pictured: PM Twitter and the Limbus Steam Forums, on any given day. Seriously, what is wrong with some of you people.)
And especially important: hate how Reddit and Steam are full of dudebro coomers who are openly hostile to F2P, non-day one players who might grapple with all the previous issues on top of being more invested in story than waifus?
Then read on under the cut!
= o = o = o = o = o = o =
This guide contains a comprehensive list of resources for you to be able to enjoy the Project Moon series to its fullest, including links to wikis, playlists, and more. Even if you can't play the games, I personally think those who can actually appreciate the series shouldn't be gatekept from the truly fantastic story and world that the games hold. Except Canto 6, we don't talk about Canto 6.
AND AN IMPORTANT REMINDER: THERE WILL BE SOME SPOILERS FOR CERTAIN PARTS OF THE SERIES, AND PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THE CONTENT WARNINGS BEFORE YOU GET INTO ANYTHING HERE! This is a very dark series that tackles and shows very heavy topics and content!
Tumblr media
For those who can't read the text on the image, some of the common trigger warnings for this series includes:
Animal Cruelty
Drug Use
References to Alcohol and Tobacco
Injury and Dismemberment
Homicide and Suicide
Violence and Torture
Cannibalism
Kidnapping, Abduction, and Captivity
Psychosis
Diseases, Seizure, and Dyspnoea (aka shortness of breath)
Familial Homicide and Domestic Violence
Reference to Clowns (Coulrophobia)
Themes of Occultism and Spiritualism
Audiovisual Depictions of Gore
Uses of Sharp and Pointed Objects
Hospital and Medical References
References to Gaslighting and Bullying
Body Modification and/or Deformation
Flashing Lights (Photosensitivity)
Disorientation Induced by a Shaking Camera
Strong Language and Demeaning Words
Reference to Traffic Accidents
Uses of Guns and Instruments of Violence
Discriminatory Violence
Religious Torture and Violence
Enforced Ideology and/or Actions
War and Mass Conflict
Anyway, if all that didn't scare you off, on to the guide!

=WIKIS:
When in doubt, there's always the wikis for being references and useful sources, from gameplay to story elements!
>>Cogitopedia - A WIP wiki run by members of the community, working on adding in-depth content for all of the games and supplementary materials.
>>LobCorp Wiki - Has data on every abnormality, including inaccessible ones and cut ones (such as Price of Silence).
>>Library of Ruina Wiki - Has the lore from key pages, and also has cut content like the CGs from the original planned ending.
>>Limbus Wiki.gg - Has ID Uptie stories and info about Mirror Dungeon encounters. (DO NOT USE THE LIMBUS FANDOM WIKI, IT HAS BEEN ABANDONED/VANDALIZED.)
>>Library of Project Moon - A WIP fan blog whose purpose is to consolidate translations of the literary source novels and related works for Limbus Company and the PM games as a whole.

=LOBOTOMY CORPORATION:
Tumblr media
Summary: Lobotomy Corporation is the first game in the series. It is a roguelike management sim where you play as "Manager X", tasked with handling employees and various monsters known as Abnormalities in order to generate daily quotas of a power source substance known as Enkephalin and a mysterious "Seed of Light" project. You are aided by an alleged team of AIs known as the Sephirot, and your very own personal assistant AI, Angela. It's often been likened to "anime SCP Foundation."
This is the game where everything begins, and without it, we wouldn't have the plot of Limbus (or anything else for that matter). This is where the Golden Boughs come from, this is where Abnormalities come from, this is even where Distortions come from - but we're getting ahead of ourselves on that front.
>>This playlist will allow you to watch all the cutscenes from the game, in order, for the canon ending.
>>This video also has the cutscenes, albeit not in order, HOWEVER, it does have the alternate, non-canon endings A and B (which are timestamped in the link for convenience).
youtube
>>WordsmithVids (also on YouTube) also has what is generally considered to be the most popular summary of the game.
youtube
(NOTE: Some people disagree with WordsmithVids and his interpretations of some of the characters as well as his content being "meme-y," so I advise you to watch at your own discretion and draw your own conclusions. That being said, if people have better recommendations, please send them to me instead of just complaining and bitching without offering solutions like that one guy on Steam did, thank you.)
>>This site contains transcripts/text of the entire game, albeit not in order like the cutscene playlist. It also has WIP sections for EGO weapons, gear, and other useful info.

=WONDERLAB:
Tumblr media
Summary: Wonderlab was a webcomic by the artist MIMI/Whitezombies, originally posted on the Project Moon Postype account. It follows the adventures of several employees - often called "nuggets" in fan parlance - Catt, Taii, and Rose, in a Lobotomy Corporation branch facility as they go about their day to day activities.
This webcomic was taken down after the Summer 2023 Incel Controversy, when incels stormed the Project Moon office in Korea and made enough credible threats that the former Limbus CG artist known as Vellmori was fired, and it is currently part of a second conflict over copyright. However, primarily for archival and personal reference purposes, the comic has been saved and rehosted in several forms.
>>Internet Archive version. This has just the comic in an on-site readable format.
>>A backup archive on Google Drive. This features the individual pages, a downloadable .zip of the archive, and a readable Google Docs version.
For those who may have ethical concerns about downloading a webcomic that was pulled due to controversy (understandable), once again, >>WordsmithVids has a summary.
youtube
(NOTE: This is NOT the place to discuss either the Summer 2023 incel controversy *or* the current (Summer 2024) copyright conflict. There are far better places to do that with people who are far better informed on the topic than I am. This post is solely for providing references and archives of lore material to help guide people into this series. DO NOT attempt to bring up the controversies here, I will not be acknowledging them outside of mentioning why certain supplementary materials may have been pulled and have had to be mirrored. I am just an archivist, not a lawyer or discourser.)

=LIBRARY OF RUINA:
Tumblr media
Summary: Library of Ruina takes place some months after the events of Lobotomy Corporation. A "Grade 9 Fixer" known as Roland finds his way into the mysterious, tower-like Library that has sprung up in place of the former main facility of L Corp, where he encounters Angela and the other Sephirot (all now Librarians). He begins assisting her in finding "the perfect book", which involves enticing people to come to the library through the sending out of curious invitations.
Now, unfortunately, there is not a playlist that splits up the cutscenes or puts them in order for Ruina.
>>These two videos have them all in compilation.
youtube
youtube
HOWEVER. A wonderful and dear friend of mine (@citroncynique <3) has allowed the guide they sent me to be reproduced/copied.
>>As such, there is a guide on how to watch the cutscenes in the order that makes the most sense, utilizing the timestamps of the previous two videos. It is not a perfect system, but it works at least.
>>There is also a written transcript archive for Ruina, by the same person who did the one for LobCorp, which also includes useful info regarding things like cards and keypages as well.
>>WordsmithVids also has at least two summary vids out.
youtube
youtube
However, due to financial issues at last update, he has not been able to continue his summary of Ruina. I am including them regardless. >>As well as his Patreon in case people want to support him in hopes of making it easier for him to work on the vids again.
>>There is also an almost FOUR HOUR LONG video essay that delves into Angela's character specifically after the events of LobCorp and Ruina. It is not required viewing like the rest of the materials here, however, I think it still deserves a mention just for the amount of effort and care that went into it.

=DISTORTION DETECTIVE:
Tumblr media
Summary: Taking place at roughly the same time as Library of Ruina, two Fixers known as Ezra and Moses and an N Corp. Taboo Hunter known as Vespa investigate the Distortion Phenomenon that is rapidly starting to spread across the City after the events of the previous games.
Originally released as a webnovel on Project Moon's Postype, Distortion Detective has 42 chapters and is technically incomplete/on hiatus. Project Moon, surprised at how popular the webnovel was, decided they wanted to potentially make an entire game based on the story. As of this writing, that has not happened (yet) but at least one character from the novel has appeared in Limbus Company, so there is still hope yet.
>>The DD series in its original form on Postype. This version was posted chapter-by-chapter, on Project Moon's Postype account and is (as of this writing, at least) still readable there.
>>A backup archive on Google Drive. This has the entire webnovel in a single document format (both Docs and downloadable PDF) featuring NishikujiC's official chapter illustrations up to Ch. 26, and includes the now-cut comic adaption of Ch. 19 by the artist Monggeu/koug99.

=LEVIATHAN:
Tumblr media
(Lord, this one. Like it wasn't a big enough pain in the ass already.)
Summary: After the events of Library of Ruina, and operating as a direct prequel to Limbus Company, Leviathan follows the Color Fixer Vergilius (aka the Red Gaze) as he grapples with his own personal traumas and comes into conflict with the Ring Syndicate, before being recruited as a guide for the LCB.
Leviathan originally started as a webcomic by Monggeu/koug99. Health issues with the artist resulted in the comic being discontinued and turned into a webnovel, whose translation was never completed and had to later be finished by fans. The comic portion has since been taken down as of the Summer 2024 copyright conflict and controversy, much like Wonderlab was. Once again, however, this has been mirrored for archival and reference purposes.
>>Original source of Leviathan on Postype. Due to the copyright conflict and the translation hiatus, the only chapters available are Ch. 12-15. The link is still included for posterity reasons and just in case the copyright conflict results in the chapters being restored.
>>A backup archive on Google Drive. This link includes the comic chapters, as well as the SnakeskinFS English fan translations for the last five chapters that were never completed, all in PDF form.

=LIMBUS COMPANY:
Tumblr media
Summary: After all the events of the previous games, a mysterious up and coming business known as Limbus Company has taken it upon themselves to send a group composed of 12 "Sinners" and their mysterious clock-headed Manager Dante to delve into the now-abandoned L Corp facilities in search of mysterious artifacts known as Golden Boughs.
Finally we come to the end of the shrubbery maze. Limbus Company is the latest chapter in the currently unfolding story of Project Moon and the City, a gacha game being used to fund other projects under the company umbrella.
Many people, once again, have ethical concerns about patronizing a gacha game. I for one agree with them, even as one of those patrons.
>>This playlist features all of the cutscenes for each part of the game story released so far (up to Intervallo 6.5-2/Murder on the WARP Express as of this writing).
>>There is also this site, which operates as a pure datamined text archive of all the story content.
>>And this site, which has all the in-game Observation logs as told by the Sinners, about the Abnormalities and enemies encountered in-game.

=BONUS/SUPPLEMENTARY:
Tumblr media
This section, liable to be updated at any given time, is for links to materials or fan-creations that don't necessarily fit with the strictly canonical story materials found in the games and webnovels themselves but which otherwise provide useful resources or analysis. Note that the vast majority of material here is supplementary and not required, but recommended.
(Except the literary sources. You will read those, and that is a threat. I can't take another Wings-forsaken illiterate opinion on Canto 6, I'm going to start Distorting and biting people if YOU PEOPLE DON'T READ THE DAMN SOURCE NOVELS.)
YouTubers and Video Essayists:
Frey Chaqma - Frey has done lots of work for the PM community, such as spearheading the Absolute Pride Resonance charity event for Pride Month 2024 as well as discussing the lore of the games and the City as a whole.
Tsunul - Another YouTuber who discusses lore but who also often delves into more interpersonal matters relating to the fandom and controversies that can affect the game community as a whole.
Esgoo - Although Esgoo does not necessarily get into lore so much, they are often tauted as one of the biggest names in the fandom for, if nothing else, their meta-analysis and basic gameplay/strategy material, as well as their community involvement.
DMrLeeds - Although some of his videos are (comparitively) quite old, it can still provide a good jumping off point for anyone who is utterly lost on what's going on in Limbus.
hydrojoy's essay on Benjamin - In addition to Angela, hydrojoy also did an in-depth analysis on Benjamin, aka B, aka Hokma, from Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina and their impact on the story.
MetiNotTheBadGuy's PM Character Essays - Meti has done several excellent character breakdown videos on some of PM's most notable villains/characters, including Roland, Kromer, and Dongrang.

Citroncynique. For being a truly amazing artist, putting in the effort of making a watch guide for Ruina's cutscenes, and getting me into this series and ruining my life forever by jingling a bugman with PTSD in front of me (<3).
MIMI/Whitezombies, Monggeu/koug99, NishikujiC, and Vellmori. Although several of these artists have left PM and the community on bad terms, I still think their efforts should be appreciated and supported, now more than ever.
SnakeskinFS. For finishing Leviathan's English translation.
Folex, Bek, WordsmithVids, hydrojoy, and the Lobotomy Corporation Archive. For posting their cutscene and summary/analysis videos.
NeedsMoreDoge. The Steam user who provided the original guide and backup on how to read Leviathan that I myself utilized.
The less than pleasant members of the community who spurred me into making this guide in the first place, out of pure spite.
And of course, readers like you and those members of the community who make me so happy to be here and be a part of this fandom. Genuinely, thank you all, I have never felt as welcomed as I do in the Project Moon circles I run in.
In addition to the references included here, I recommend you get involved in your PM community as well! Join communities and Discords, support content creators on social sites, help contribute where it's needed and in whatever way you can! The best way to counteract the worst elements of any fandom is to be a guiding and helpful element in your own right.
Thank you all for reading, and I hope this guide helps you out!

How can you be Jewish and a "witch"? That's contradiction in its core lol
It would appear some of you have forgotten the art of holding multiple truths at once. Judaism is far more vast than many of you imagine.
Like any good English 101 course teaches you, when engaging in discussion, you must first define your terms.
What is a witch? Jewish history provides many answers, but almost all of them apply to non-Jews and their worship of deities outside of Judaism. If it is Avodah Zarah (idolatry) that makes a witch, such definitions do not apply to me as I worship none other than HaShem.
But is that what witchcraft truly is? I do not see value in such a narrow definition. Witchcraft is cross-cultural: it spans the globe and is defined by communities for their own; and ultimately, witchcraft has many faces. One face, however, represents some of our most beloved traditions, should we choose to apply the term. Whether you like the term or not, it is here to stay.
The term Jewitch is one that I am (obviously) extraordinarily fond of -- not just because it is adorable, but because using it is an act of reclamation. The first time I came across it, the term was being hurled as a slur. Go on Twitter or Reddit and see it used to degrade Jewish women; to continue the centuries old libel that we poison wells, drink the blood of babies, practice magic of the Devil.
The label of witch is controversial: that's part of why I use the term Jewitches. People seek magic and so often feel that they have to search outside of Judaism to find it. My work is to show that you do not have to leave your home to find a place in the magical world.
I ask no one to use the term -- and quite honestly, very rarely use the term myself (outside of hashtags & my brand name) because I do not need it. I am a Jew. My traditions are Jewish. My practice is Jewish.
"Regardless of what one's views are about magic, all agree that it is no way a contradiction to the Unity of G-d, and it itself (if it exists) is a creation of G-d." - Rabbi Yehuda Shurpin
After all, Pirkei Avot says, "The more wives, the more witchcraft".

"Why isn't Viv getting in trouble!?"
It's simple, things like people not stepping forwards officially, fear of dogpiling, fear of lawsuits, fear of suits from the law, fear of shame and the like.
People who don't come forward have their own reasons but we cannot blame them. That and the times you come out on reddit (I.E. r/youtubedrama) people are quick to baby Viv as if she's the victim.
Add that with Hollywood's notorious track history of turning the other cheek when it comes to allegations, it's not a healthy mix. Viv is by standards a woman, attractive (to most) and is wealthy. People care more about that then the mountains of allegations gathered around.
People who are attractive and have money are most likely to have controversies swept under the rug and have die hard fans that support (during, before or after the allegations.)
Being attractive is sadly why most people don't care, and if Viv ends up doing something heinous people are still not going to care, if we want real change in the world. It's best to encourage anyone hurt during this to speak out and file lawsuits against them. Because right now they are allegations and until she gets an actual litigation she in her own words is "untouchable." I am aware that they can't afford something like this but if people banded together and donate to a GFM (trust me critical community WOULD.) anything's possible.
Until then stay safe and never lose hope. Justice came from all the former disgraced Hollywood Actors and soon Viv will too.

I was a hardcore dream fan up until the point the initial grooming accusations (the stuff in from the “The Truth” video).
I think a lot of people call Dream fans a cult kind of like,,,,, either insultingly or hyperbolically. Like they aren’t really thinking that the group is cult-like, and are saying it just because of the extreme devotion to dream through controversies. As a former fan tho, my experience genuinely does feel somewhat cult-like to me (I don’t want to downplay real cults, but I don’t have another word).
Cults often target people who are lonely and vulnerable and offer them community in return for not questioning things. I joined the dream fan community a couple months into the pandemic. I was very lonely. I had depression that I had just started getting treatment for (literally one session and I was still unmedicated) at my college, before getting ripped away from my hope things were going to get better. I wasn’t out to my parents, so living at home again meant getting constantly misgendered.
in short, I wasn’t feeling great. And Dream- you have to understand how much of his fan community (at least on tumblr) is into the idea that he loves his fans, and he loves his friends. And getting to watch those friendships felt like living vicariously. And having someone tell me they loved me, even if I knew I was just another fan helped. For a long time during the pandemic, the dream team were the literal highlight of my day. They were often the reason I got out of bed. I knew even then that that wasn’t healthy, but I was having trouble figuring out how else to get through things.
even after going back to college after the first vaccine had come out, Dream (watching and re-watching videos, interacting with the community) remained a pillar of my mental health. Less so, but if I needed to calm down, I watched a dream video. A lot of my free time was spent in fan spaces. I really, really put him on a pedestal.
I cannot describe to you how anxious I was when the grooming allegations came out. I genuinely started feeling nauseous all the time. I was checking my phone obsessively. I’m not going back to look at these, but I remember that dream had some initial responses (long Reddit post and whatnot). There wasn’t enough there to really make anything clear/disproven and the girls looked like they had a lot of evidence, so I was still anxious and sick and feeling like I was waiting in limbo to find out what was really going on. Trying to prep myself to accept that things might not be what I hoped, as much as I didn’t want to believe it.
when I logged on, the vibe in my tumblr circle was… very different. A lot of people (except for a few that ended up leaving with me) were acting like everything was disproven and it was all good and we could go back to normal times, with a few posts about how disgusting it was that someone would fake something like that. My first response was, honestly, confusion. I thought that I must have been being stupid and missed something or not understood something. So I politely sent an ask to a big name in the community that I trusted to be smart and explain things well, saying that I wasn’t sure we had enough evidence to really dismiss the accusations and asking why she thought that everything was disproven. She gave me exactly the same information that I already knew, while calling me stupid and saying that if I didn’t believe dream that I should just get the fuck out.
I felt suddenly, unpleasantly woken up. I wasn’t being stupid or missing evidence that would fully exonerate dream (maybe there was evidence like that in “the truth”. I never watched it, couldn’t). They just wanted to believe Dream wasn’t guilty, so they did, and twisted things until that made sense. Because they wanted to feel excited and loved again, instead of the crushing anxiety and dread I was in. And I thought about my own reactions, and I knew that I had been so fucking anxious over someone I didn’t even know because secretly I also wanted Dream to be exonerated. I wanted to bury my head in the sand and pretend that it simply wasn’t true because of what being a dream fan gave to me: bits of happiness and community.
And I was really scared of myself. Because I wanted to not believe those girls, not because I thought I had evidence otherwise, but because it would make me feel better. And I knew that was really, really shitty, and that that was something I had to stop in its tracks. And that I NEEDED to not be as obsessive or put anyone on a pedestal as much again. Because I would do the same thing- wanting to make excuses to keep my own happiness. And that’s not ok.
I stopped following almost everyone overnight and stopped watching anything Dream-related cold turkey (<—I realize this probably sounds stupid but I genuinely watched so much dream stuff it was an actual change in my life). I’m still in the mcyt space, mostly hermitcraft, but I make sure that I never put anyone on a pedestal like that again, and I have a way healthier internet to real life ratio.
Coming out of that space genuinely felt like something I was grieving. The intensity of my emotions, both in it and coming out, wasn’t healthy, and I’m really glad I left. if I wasn’t faced with a situation where someone was potentially materially being hurt, I don’t know if it could have happened, I was so embroiled. For obvious reasons tho, that crossed a line and luckily on the other side I had people that were kind to me when I was still kinda reeling.
anyway, tldr, my hot take with this situation is that more dream fans wake up and realize he’s a piece of shit, and get grace and kindness while doing so. Sorry for how long this is- hopefully I get my point across that I genuinely believe that at least some dream fan spaces are intensely unhealthy, more than some people outside of them might consciously think
anon if I’m being honest with you this whole situation has me thinking a lot about this post from a while ago and at the moment, yes, it is frustrating seeing his fans deny the evidence right in front of them but I really can’t help but hold a level of sympathy for them
I was never really a hardcore dream stan but I was very adjacent to that community back when I still had Twitter and TikTok and spent a lot of time defending dream and his community whenever criticisms of him came up, I very much disliked the idea of calling dream stans a cult because I spent probably about 5 years or so of my life in stan communities on Twitter and I’m very much of the opinion that they get a bad rap, but it was around the time of his grooming allegations that I stopped defending him as well and came to understand what people meant when they called his community a cult
while I still don’t fully like using that word to describe his community because I know people who are survivors of cults and don’t want to downplay their severity, I will also say it’s alarming how easy it is to apply the BITE method to dream’s fanbase, especially information and thought control
that being said, even if it technically is not a cult it’s still a very intense community and it’s still difficult to get out of (speaking specifically on the way former dream stans are often bullied for leaving) and obviously the connection you’d have to such an intense community like that is going to be a serious emotional one so I understand why a lot of them might still be holding on
so I agree, I hope if fans of dream choose to leave his community they’re treated with grace and kindness
thank you for sharing, anon, I hope you’re doing well <3

I have a sincere and genuine question (one which you are free to ignore)
But I wanted to ask about why you’re pro endogenic/willogenic/nontraumagenic etc.?
I dont ask to stir controversy, but rather because i think I want to understand more about it all and am reaching out to see others experiences in why they believe/see the world how they do
In my early exposure to/learning about systemhood I was taught a lot by those who don’t really like/believe the nontraumagenic claims. As I see more and more of the community and its variations- I find myself more unsure about what is or isn’t true. I ask here instead of consulting the internet because finding clear research on the topic has been increasingly difficult for me and I find I’m not sure exactly where or how to look
Obviously you are probably not the information god of this subject, but i guess I’m looking mostly for your outlook/view on things to just really hear from others in the community on a subject I’m struggling with
hey anon. the biggest reason i’m pro-endo is because i’m part of a mixed origins system. but, i see that that probably isn’t a satisfactory answer to most people wanting to learn more hahaha
the second biggest reason is, well, i am not anyone else nor am i in their brain, so i cannot tell if someone is telling the truth about their experiences or not. therefore, i have to take what people say at face value. if they say they’re a system, i have no right to tell them no, they’re not. that right only belongs to them, and to some extent their psychiatrist/psychologist/therapist.
another reason: the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. just because there is little research into endogenic systems doesnt mean they’re not real. there’s not much undeniable evidence of aliens yet people still believe that they exist. why? because like the human brain, the universe is infinitely complex and we just don’t have the time, money or equipment to study every single aspect of it, especially if those aspects don’t pose an immediate threat on us as humans. endogenic systems themselves aren’t being hurt by their plurality, unlike with did/osdd systems who face severe symptoms with their disorder. in a medical perspective, there’s not much point researching something that isn’t harmful. did and osdd need research so that the systems with those disorders can actually function. endogenic systems with disorders, if they have them, usually have disorders that are already being researched all the time, such as autism, adhd, ocd, bpd, (c)ptsd, etc. so there are already people trained in dealing with those disorders that can help endogenic systems with them, as they would help anyone with them.
however, in saying all that, there actually IS research on endogenic systems, just not as much perhaps as disordered systems. i’ve found some research papers that i like and think are unbiased and fair, so i’m going to make a google doc with links to them, or to where you can download them, and that will be at the bottom of this post. i do think these papers do a lot of help for the endogenic community, especially against sysmedicalists and anti-endos who rely solely on medical evidence and research in order to believe in something (which i absolutely disagree with, i believe we should take what people say about their identity and just believe it without needing ten medical papers to back it up).
i hope this brings a little clarity to my stance on endogenic plurality, and obviously this is just my stance. there are many other systems out there who have different and perhaps better reasons for believing in endogenic plurality. if you’re on reddit at all, i highly highly encourage you to go to r/plural and have a look around there. the people there are so lovely and many of them would love to give you even more resources.
anyway, i hope you have a great day anon, and i hope you find the answers you want about endogenic plurality!

TLDR;; my personal Severance theory for what the hell is Lumon's deal. it's a cult, but with great benefits (plus dental!). also, the MDR Orientation Booklet! yay!
hi, so,,,, hyperfixation time:::
the Severance Reddit guys (they're the real heroes and we're all a family here at Lumon) said there was something called the 'Lexington Letter' - it's sort of a proof of concept letter/story for Severance's worldbuilding, probably more intended for the studio rather than audiences at first, apparently published as promo later.
SPOILER WARNING HERE, just this once.
so i read it all, and the letter in itself has some elements of the base/what i guess is the original story: car accidents, severing because of depression, Lumon appearing misteriously, innie-outie communication, people following people. it's written as an exposĂŠ on Lumon, sent to a small newspaper in hopes they will publish it. it's very interesting (and another piece of media to obsess over), so i'll leave the link here in case you want to read it:
the thing is:: this letter includes a copy of the Orientation Booklet, and it explains the refining process as if the readers were innies.
it goes on about the process, but it defines the data to refine as part of four different categories: WO, FC, DR and MA.
each of these categories ellicits the following emotional responses that we are told about during the show:
WO=melancholy
FR=joy
DR=fear
MA=rage
NOW::: i'm probably not the first to notice this, so please chime in if you did. but i think each of these categories corresponds to each of the four Tempers that Kier believed to conform every human soul/personality. those being WOE, FROLIC, DREAD and MALICE.
so the (human) refiners are !!instinctively!!!! classifying numbers that correspond to each type of the four Tempers that their biotech-founder (and presumably god) believed to make humans, well, human. and every time they put the numbers in each bin, the bin shows a progress report defining how much of each of the four categories there is already. much like the 'balance' between tempers Kier talked about.
small interruption here (i promise it'll be relevant later): in the Lexington Letter, three things are mentioned that stood out to me. first, the letter itself tells about the explosion of a truck of Lumon's business rival, Dorner Therapeutics. the accident kills 6 people, and the explosion is triggered barely two minutes after one of the files has been fully refined. so -at least according to the original show's plan- the refining process is an actual thing with a tangible function. it actually IS encrypted data that they're looking at all day.
the second thing was very brief: some sort of controversy regarding Lumon's feeding tubes that had caused a libel suit (by Lumon) that made another small paper go bankrupt. it's mentioned as a deterrent, and the Lexington Letter is not published.
third (last one, i promise):: Peg, who writes the letter, says at one point that a Lumon employment ad came up on the radio just as she said, alone in her car, 'Fuck this job' (her former job). as if it heard her, basically.
so, end of interruption. bringing me back to::: THE THEORY.
we have the Four Tempers; Lumon, a biotech/generally huge everything-corporation with (according to Devon) influence everywhere; and at the center of it all, Kier, who is effectively a messianic figure.
we have the Gemma reveal (Mark says in s2ep2 that he identified the body, so there WAS a body).
then there's Ms Cobel/Sigwell's shrine and //feeding?// tube, with the name Charlotte Cobel on it, and an apparent lore-compliant, unknown controversy to go with it.
finally, we also have a fuckton of encrypted data that:: a) needs refining b) actually serves a purpose in the real world c) we are very briefly shown that the file's progess is related to Gemma (dead, but also alive, personality-lacking, and in the experimental floor) and, presumably, other people. and goats.
i don't really know the purpose of it, but i think they might be sequencing the human genome and personalities of everyone //related to Lumon//? to like. make replica people??
like,,, sure, maybe they want Mark specifically to chill forever with his not-so-dead-anymore clone of a wife, but it IS a biotech company that plays god with life and death, and HAS a god like in their company policy. they have legends, and paintings, and rites, and scripture, and mysteries.
like. Lumon is -BY DESIGN- THE ultimate intersection between a literal religion and corporate loyalty/devotion that plagues and defines the current job market paradigm. the work is mysterious and important, and the company provides or punishes as an absolute and final entity. Kier is all-knowing father, overseeing judge, the origin and ultimate motive for everything. you don't even need to exit the Lumon product ecosystem to live, because they're already everywhere outside. hell, they've existed from the beginning of the only history you need to care about--late industrialism!! the rise of the market economy!! wouldn't it make sense for them to give you a solution to the final problem of death as well?
so, my current theory (To Be Forgotten Tomorrow) is that they are trying to deliver on that promise that every religion out there gives. they're ending the finality of death, and making people again. not just physically; they are literally bringing back complete reproductions of people, body and soul. they use the severeds' intuitions (and probably some sort of conditioning in their chips) to estimate the precise balance of tempers that make up distinct human personalities, just as Kier said.
because think of Ms Cobel, or Mark. for me, they are the most extreme cases. if you had lost, say, your wife. or your mother, or daughter. the person you loved the most, dead. and if a family company that you've seen everywhere, and known all your life, stepped in and told you they'd be able to rid you of the pain. or bring them back. if they told you that if you're loyal enough, blindly trust them with your own agency, they'll make everything right - wouldn't you take them up on that offer?
and now that's out of my head yaaayy. sorry for the long thing. i hope at least the letter and manual helped.
if you read all that, congrats! you've been awarded a fingertrap.
kiers!!! (as in 'cheers'. like. you get it, right? right.)
❤️❤️❤️

official quotevarchive quotev death post (three entire days late)
On Friday, May 31st, 2024, Quotev issued an update that removed the activity feed, the chatbox, the ability to post in groups, the recently added “recommended users” feature, the ability to make individual posts private, the “location” feature on profiles, and backgrounds on the homepage, to name a few things.
They also added a reminder in groups and messages that the two features “are being discontinued and will be removed July 1st.”
This update also added a home button and a button that leads directly to a user's library on the menu bar (situated in a somewhat unbalanced position.)
Tumblr media
According to reports of several users, the update happened sometime between 1-2 PM, GMT (I am not entirely sure what time is most accurate, and I did not log on until an hour afterwards.)
Thus began the mass panic. Several users blamed themselves for the removal of the feed, including one user (.hideri) who had among other things apparently make a joking bomb threat the day before. Since the administration had not made a statement in the News section (which was temporarily removed when I logged on, at about 3 PM GMT) no one had any idea whose fault it was. With no other apparent options, users began to move to other platforms to discuss the situation, including twitter, tumblr, reddit (r/Quotev), discord, and plurk. Some users sent messages of protest to the administration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Around 6 PM GMT, the administration posted a statement in the restored News section.
Tumblr media
(note that the time on the post is listed in EST on my device)
The last paragraph, detailing how to archive your messages and group topics, was not included in the post until around a day after it was posted.
Users have continued to move to different platforms. Some seem resigned, while others are determined to challenge the administration with a change.org campaign. Several “quotev discord” servers have been created (spawning their own separate dramas.) A controversy on plurk has emerged, discussing whether or not the recently moved quotev users are disrupting the website.
This all leads us to the question: why? The administration's statement is vague and probably not fully true. What is the actual reason? Can they no longer maintain the website? Were they fed up with the constant drama moderation? Quotev has been no stranger to unpopular updates, but none have been as dramatic as this. Website statistics have shown a huge drop in usage. It's not going to get better when everyone finishes moving their stuff and lurking. It remains to be seen if we will ever truly get a good answer. In the meantime, former users mourn, reminisce, bicker, and will ultimately move on. There has been ridicule for the sadness that we are experiencing, over “just a quiz site.” Yeah, maybe it sounds silly to be so sad, but there is really nothing quite like quotev and the community that it contained, for better or for worse.

A Roadmap and Why Anti-Endos Are Getting Left Behind
A recent post of mine was controversial and has been making waves. That post was the short un-nuanced version of a pro-endo future that's coming. It was phrased to sound threatening and inflammatory because it feels like that's all anti-endos will listen to anymore. But now that I've successfully gotten your attention, let's talk seriously about what's been set into motion, why it's bad for anti-endos, and why there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.
Positions on endogenic plurality in psychiatry
The nature of DID has been the subject of much debate within the psychiatric community for a long time. Most experts have agreed that the cause of DID is virtually always trauma. (Although many doctors are hesitant to assert this cause 100% of the time because edge cases can exist with anything.) But there's a smaller group that views it as sociogenic or iatrogenic, being caused by suggestion or doctors themselves.
I tend to agree with the majority.
But that majority group that believes DID itself is caused by trauma has also consistently acknowledged that there are, or at least could be, other forms of plurality beyond DID. This includes Dr. Colin Ross, who in the 90s speculated that there could be a non-pathological endogenous form of multiplicity. This was also echoed by Kluft, another DID expert who holds the traumagenic view of DID.
In the early 2010s, the creators of the theory of structural dissociation mentioned in a paper that mediumship and hypnosis may involve self-conscious dissociative parts of the personality.
By 2019, the World Health Organization's ICD-11's DID entry stated that you can experience multiple distinct personality states without a disorder.
Every source you can find about endogenic and non-disordered plurality either affirms it as a real thing or is at least neutral on it.
There is no hard anti-endo papers in psychiatry or psychology.
You can look through peer reviewed sources if you want for a single one that supports the idea that all plurality is traumagenic, and I promise that you won't find one.
A growing trend in research.
Like I said, in the 90s, there were a couple doctors talking about non-pathological multiplicity as something that may or may not exist. But this was largely un-studied. Later, this phenomenon got more attention, but there were no studies into non-pathological multiplicity, outside of spiritual possession, until 2016 with Varieties of Tulpa Experiences.
That was only 8 years ago.
The year after, in 2017, came a small interview study into online multiples that concluded this:
Tumblr media
2018 saw the publication of Transgender Mental Health by The American Psychiatric Association, which asserted plurality could be non-traumagenic.
Tumblr media
And again, 2019 saw the ICD-11 worded to say that one could experience the presence of multiple distinct personality states without a disorder.
There have been so many studies conducted in the intervening years that this post would go on forever were I to list them all.
If you want to see more, you can look at Guardians Systems' doc. Progress is happening at a rapid pace with new studies published every year.
This leads us to the next big milestone... actual fMRI research and brain scans. Because THAT'S HAPPENING.
Stanford University conducted a massive $50k study (not including the payment to researchers themselves) into tulpa systems, and the people running those studies recently did an AMA about it on Reddit.
The results are promising, showing neurological changes during possession. (Possession is a tulpamancy term for a headmate taking control over a single part of the body without fronting.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once this is published, it's only going to further pique interest in tulpamancy and endogenic plurality in psychology.
Are you scared yet? Because Rod Dreher is...
Rod Dreher is a transphobic conservative pundit and reactionary. I'll preface this by saying it's unclear how much of his fear is legitimate and how much is playing to a transphobic base as a way of saying "look what these liberals are doing now." Personally, I think it's probably a bit of both.
I'll be linking the archived version to avoid giving him clicks.
What conservative pundit Rod Dreher believes is that tulpamancy and plurality are going to be the next frontier of identity politics, as he makes the case for here.
Tumblr media
He's of course NOT in support of this, but he's afraid of it.
Tumblr media
And he's not wrong either.
In another quote from the AMA, Dr. Lifshitz mentions how much interest he gets from colleagues when he discusses tulpamancy.
Tumblr media
The awareness of plurality and interest in it in medical spaces is rapidly spreading, and current studies do show tulpamancy improves mental health.
While it would be easy to dismiss Dreher's predictions as typical conservative fearmongering, the current trends clearly support what he's predicting.
He may be on the wrong side of the debate, but he can see the same signs and trends I do.
Plural Acceptance In Therapy
As said above, studies have shown thus far that tulpamancy is healthy, as are other forms of plurality. Plural awareness and interest is spreading quickly through academic circles.
And in one interview, Lifshitz mentions that they're interested in using research into tulpamancy to develop better DID treatment.
Tumblr media
This will take a while to apply, and I don't know when they'll start using knowledge from tulpamancy in clinical settings, but there's a good chance that within the next decade, this research into tulpamancy may start to influence the treatment of DID systems.
How this will manifest is still unclear. Perhaps it won't go further than the advanced inner world exercises tulpamancers use to immerse themselves in inner worlds to communicate with tulpas.
But... a number of DID systems with tulpas have reported positive benefits from creating tulpas to help their systems. So maybe we'll see studies into using tulpamancy to intentionally make alters for DID systems and see how that benefits their mental health. If results are positive, this could be used in treatment.
Speaking of which, we're probably also going to see studies into having singlets create tulpas intentionally.
They're already having children make imagined companions, and have recorded these imagined companions are able to act seemingly autonomously, possessing their own thoughts and feelings.
Tumblr media
This research cited research into tulpamancy, and suggested future studies should be carried out on adults to see if there are benefits.
Tumblr media
I can already see the path from having adult singlets make tulpas to test for benefits of plurality, and then to testing on DID systems to see if this could be used to help strengthen communication in those systems.
And if these studies are done and the methods are proven effective and put into practice, anti-endos won't even know that the methods that are being used to treat them were derived from tulpamancy studies.
But as more anti-endos are being treated by therapists who are working to get them into healthier mindsets, it's likely you'll see a trickle down from the opinions of therapists to their patients, helping dismantle their bigotry towards endogenic systems and internalized pluralphobia.
If you're anti-endo and have seen other anti-endos complaining that their therapists seem pro-endo, know that it only gets worse from here.
Plural Acceptance and Gender
Plurality is also likely to become an increasingly big thing in topics around gender.
Just last year in 2023, we saw a study into the intersection of living as plural and transgender.
This study also marked a major milestone for plurals, being the first time ever that a system name (The Redwoods) was used as an author on an academic paper. Authors in this study worked across multiple universities, a hospital, and a gender wellness center.
This will almost definitely not be the last.
Additionally, we've lately been seeing live gender conferences with plural speakers speaking about plurality and this intersection. No longer is this community based entirely online.
Plural acceptance is going to quickly spread within the LGBT community. And anti-endos will be tolerated in those spaces less and less.
A Stranglehold on Resources
Another reason anti-endos are going to lose is because most resources are already pro-endo. Simply Plural and Pluralkit both support endogenic systems, with Simply Plural having links discussing endogenic plurality, linking young systems to the information.
There have been anti-endo attempts at breaking this stranglehold, but it always comes down to copying a more popular pro-endo thing and making it more hateful and exclusive, and it never gets close to enough traction.
Anti-endos contribute nothing to the community and are reliant on pro-endo resources, and every person they suggest Simply Plural to brings them closer to those pro-endo articles from The Plural Association.
Confidence in Being Out as Plural Means Plural Role Models
I don't know who these role models will be. Aimkid came out as a DID system and is pro-endo. Unfortunately, anti-endos have had success in bullying Aimkid off of social media.
But some studies have shown about 3% of the population is plural, only about half of which have DID, and I believe the real numbers are actually much higher.
As plural acceptance increases, it's only a matter of time before you start seeing some of your favorite celebrities come out as plural.
It's only a matter of time before plurals have their equivalent of "The Puppy Episode" where Ellen came out as lesbian on television.
I can't predict when this will happen. Things like that tend to come out of the blue. But I do believe it will happen and when it does, plurality will suddenly be pushed to the mainstream conversation.
This is Going to Quickly Become a Left-Right Issue
When plurality hits the mainstream, conservatives will fiercely oppose it. Because of the way reactions tend to work, that means liberals are going to fiercely defend it. Each side feeds into the other and results in more support in liberal spaces and more opposition in conservatives ones.
I'm not going to sugarcoat this. If you stand by bigotry in these liberal spaces, especially queer spaces, you're going to find your social circle shrinking unless you keep that bigotry to yourself. When this is part of the national conversation, you will find yourself cutoff by people you care about and spaces you previously would be accepted.
Intolerance to plural systems of any kind will no longer be tolerated. There will be no safe space for hate in those communities.
And with the overwhelming science and doctors supporting the existence of non-disordered and endogenic systems, with the support of the psych community, anti-endos will soon find themselves regarded the same way we regard anti-vaxxers and flat-Earthers in liberal spaces.
A Choice to Make
You're not doomed. This isn't hopeless. You can make a change.
System medicalism is The Titanic but you have life rafts you can hop on before it goes down.
Plenty of anti-endos have changed their ways. But if you stay on your current course, this is where it ends. You either maintain your bigotry, as you're cast out of queer communities, watching endogenic plurality infiltrate your favorite media, and with therapists who are pro-endo, all while your own hate and isolation destroy you...
Or you can choose to be better before it's too late. Because the longer you maintain your hate, the more people you hurt along the way, the more guilt you'll carry with you after you break away.
Or... I guess there's a secret third thing. A worse choice. You could join with the Rod Drehers of the world, because the Alt-Right will probably accept you gladly if you're willing to toe the party line, and turn against both fellow systems and the queer community.
I'm sure they would love systems with internalized pluralphobia who speak out against a plural future that they can hold up as examples, the same way they love homophobic gay people like Milo Yiannopoulos.
If that's what you want to be, I suppose that's an option too. ‍♀️
If you do make right choice...
You can find acceptance. Your past mistakes won't be held against you.
Admitting that you're wrong and choosing to be better can be scary. But that's no excuse to continue down a path of hate.
If you do choose to make a change, we can build a plural future together. One where we won't have to hide or fear discrimination for being plural.
One where future plural children won't have to grow up feeling crazy and hating themselves and their headmates for being different, and they'll have real people to look up to who have been where they are.
My Part...
For myself, I'm going to do everything I can to push this future forward, to help bring it about. This future is an inevitability. But the more of us that spread awareness of the science and what's happening, the sooner it gets here.
But with or without my involvement... anti-endos... you're losing. Bit by bit, every single day, and you don't even realize it because you're surrounded by an echo chamber that refuses to see the reality of what's happening.
But We see it. Dr. Lifshitz sees it. Even conservative Rod Dreher sees it.
And you are so far behind in this battle that there's no way you can possibly prevent what is coming. Maybe you could have stopped it had you started paying attention half a decade ago. But you've walled yourselves off from anything that contradicted your worldview and that willful ignorance has left you playing catch-up.
Your echo chamber will tell you that you're safe to keep being who you are, to keep spreading hate and hurting innocent people because of what we are. That the future I promise won't happen. They'll tell you to ignore all the signs.
But the reality is that the world is changing and the future is plural, and you are going to have to make a choice.
I sincerely hope you will choose the right thing. But for those who don't...
Well, like I said, it's up to you. I can't stop you from choosing hate. I'm not going to try to make you into a better person either. That's up to you.
But I think you at least deserve to know what's happening and how it will end up affecting you if you don't make a change.
