Taking time for yourself

This could look like a gorgeous self-date (taking yourself out shopping or to a restaurant you wanted to try), a self-care evening, or just a moment of being mindful of your breath and tuning in to your body.

Deepening in self-compassion

This looks a lot like shadow work. It's important that you meet your defense mechanisms and destructive patterns with love and empathy.

Giving your emotions a voice

It takes a lot of distance and therapy to acknowledge the feelings UNDERNEATH your feelings. Some of us are way better at this than others. As girls, we are often socialised to bottle up our anger, but being able to stand up for yourself and speaking to your rage is a step towards feeling more understood.

Understanding your capacity

Taking breaks and finding unscheduled time will prevent burnout. Simplifying your life is beneficial to mental health. Is there a responsibility you won't miss?

Forgiving your past selves

When that embarassing memory comes up, you need to just pelt yourself with kindness. Have compassion for mistakes! Honour your journey!

Staying true to your values

When you know who you are, when you know what you believe in, decisions will be made easier and your life will be directed by the glow you hold inside.

Expressing yourself

It's time for open and vulnerable conversations with the people you love. Your feelings have value, and the people who love you will hold space for that.

Asking for support

Can come in the form of mentorship or friendship or counselling depending on your needs, but you are a resourceful girl. You're not too proud to ask for help -- and that makes you lovely.

It wasn't an ordinary birth, but a miracle born from the darkness, a cry of life in a city embracing death every hour.

The raids were relentless, the minarets cried instead of the call to prayer, and bread became a wish. Last night, my wife gave birth to triplets. Three new breaths in a world choked by smoke: two boys and one girl. We didn't even have blankets to wrap them in.

I didn't know how I would feed them. No milk, no clean water, no hope. But when I looked at their little faces, I realized that God doesn't give life in vain.

I named them:

Samid – because he came in the midst of collapse and remained.

Ruqayya – because she was more delicate than all this destruction.

Aziz – because his presence was precious despite the hunger and fear.

in the face of animal crossing pocket camp closing, can i just say. i don’t understand why new horizons was like that. after acpc the next animal crossing game should have been amazing and yet,

acnh feels very stale very quickly imo. it has the bones of an animal crossing game (unlocking shops, filling the museum, etc) but the villagers are sooo samey, and it feels like there’s fewer interactions and games between them than there was in acnl. (and i know this isn't a new criticism but it feels unfinished. harv's island co-op in the final update feels like a weak alternative to letting lief, kicks, katrina, etc. have physical stores on your island.) but i do love having the ability to build and customize your own furniture, to an extent. the new furniture designs are great and i especially love that villagers have more versatile clothes options. sheep can wear shirts!! everyone can wear hats!!

but also, acpc has WAY more furniture and clothing options than acnh. and i love the way the villagers work there: they have a set personality and a set style. and you can help them give gifts to other villagers or give them fashion tips, and your relationship improves more (im pretty sure ?) if you pick the option that’s The Right Style. it makes it feel like you're actually getting to know them, and it gives a little bit more variation because a cranky jock FEELS markedly different than a cranky cool guy

Assembling Game Boy Color Games

I thought this would be a fun post, just to show the process.

Inside these boxes are 230 computer boards of Annihilator for the Game Boy Color. Inside Gadgets supplied them and they are great.

I sourced shells from a manufacturer in China. There really is no other place to get them. They are very well made. Though, the next batch I get will need to be blank. I didn't realize when I ordered them, they would have a certain someone's branding on them.

I had 24 cart only preorders, and decided to assemble and ship them out.

Since I planned on making labels at home. I wanted to do something extra for my first ever preorders. I gave them a choice of holographic Red or Blue First Edition labels.

The labels were printed on an Epson XP-15000 and I have a Brother Scan n Cut for the .... uhh cutting. I plan on sending these out next week. This was also a good time to test out my assembly process. But the final, boxed will like the image below. I'll be ordering boxes and manuals next week also.

contrary to the image I project on here I do usually eat pretty healthy. a lot of the time I prefer plant-based meat alternatives to the real thing (although I do like meat and don't consider it unhealthy by any metric). I make and eat balanced dinners at least a couple of times a week. but also I snack like a maniac when I'm not medicated and do really enjoy those awful energy drinks

Creating Animated Wallpapers with 3D parallax (Gyroscopic parallax) Like Apofiss. (Adroid)

See this here??? Example Here. Do you wanna make something like this? Skip the colored text if you want to get to the meat of the information. Do you ever just see something really cool on the internet, and go "Hey! I mostly have the skills to do this! All I'm missing is a quick guide on how to achieve certain affects!" And then proceed to spend the next two days scrounging the internet for answers but find absolutely nothing? Yeah... That was me. I only just now figured out how to do it, and that was after giving up on this potential project twice. In my particular case, I saw a neat little wall paper running around by the artist Apofiss. I love this creator's work, and I think they do amazing stuff, but me being me and an artist, I like to put my own personal touches on things, and so instead of just buying a wallpaper, I have to put myself through the pain and misery of incorporating my own art into an animated gyroscopic live wallpaper. Considering if you're here reading this post, you might be like me, and hella annoyed that you've spent hours to even days researching this and haven't found a tutorial that actually helps but instead is a shitty app that barely scratches the surface and doesn't allow you to incorporate animated details into your images that you intend to use a parallax on, and it's likely also because much like myself, you may have been using improper terminology and not scraping far enough down into search engine as a result. What Apofiss created, and what you're trying to pull off is an animated wall paper with a Gyroscopic Parallax. It's not something that requires complex coding, but instead requires a third party app called KLWP (Not sure what the letters stand for, but I find it easy to remember the order they're in because they look like a condensed down spelling of Kool Whip.) Download App Here. This is the only app that I've found that will allow you to include gifs and videos into as layers to your gyroscopic parallax. Here's the video Tutorial I found that teaches you how to set up that animation. Video Here.

Also keep in mind that if you've reached timestamp 1:35 of the video, the video tutorial is 7 years old, so it likely has not been updated to allow animations at the time that person filmed the video, but I can assure you that it is an option. This is my own screen as of 11/5/2023 showing that you can add animated images, you just simply need look for it in the prompt when you go to add items.

Make sure that as you follow the tutorial, you use a gif instead of a regular images for one of the items that way you can see how the thing operates, and when you preview it, have fun tilting around your phone to watch that small little glimmer of hope flare up in your fragile, already broken little heart. Trust me. It's fullfilling. I can answer questions, but I'm still fairly new at this myself. I just wanted to put these resources out here, because it is hard to find a decent tutorial. Your best bet is just going to be to play around with the app yourself and see what you can do. I recommend that you do one of two things to help others who may be struggling with this as I have. 1. Spread it around to people who have asked these same questions and never got answers. 2. If this post sucks and you can make a better, more cohesive tutorial, make one and spread that around. Homemade Parodinal Recipe

Makes 150ml developer concentrate for B+W film and paper – enough for many rolls of film, see usage below. Cost: pennies per roll. Typical buy quantities may last a lifetime.

WEAR GLOVES – Caustic Soda burns are nasty! Work outside. It’s easy but be careful.

16 x 500mg tablets paracetamol, crushed (cheapest kind with no added stuff)

20g sodium metabisulphite (ebay, or sold as Camden tablets from brew supply)

19g sodium hydroxide (sold as Caustic soda in hardware stores)

Cooled boiled water (boiling softens and reduces dissolved oxygen), seal while cooling to reduce re-absorption.

1) Dissolve slowly 10g caustic soda in 50ml water. It will get warm. While still warm add the paracetamol, stir and allow to cool (always add soda to water and not the reverse).

2) Dissolve slowly 9g caustic soda in 70ml of water, allow to cool and add metabisulphite.

3) Mix two solutions at room temperature and add water up to 150ml. Decant to a darkened glass bottle that you can exclude air from. I use some well washed and dried discarded small medicine bottles because that’s what was around. Try to have as little air at top as feasible.

4) Allow to 'meld' for at least 72 hours. I gave it a shake now and then, no worries.

There will be crystals that deposit at the bottom of the bottle, those appear to act as oxygen scavengers and should not be removed.

Oh and word of warning - do the mixing in a well ventilated area and nowhere near photo film or paper as sulphur dioxide from camden tablets will fog them. Wear eye and skin protection when mixing, caustic soda burns are nasty. See “Fight Club”... Usage and Dilutions:

You can use like Rodinal developer. The batch you mixed is concentrated. It lasts for decades if well stored. Dilute it with water in various strengths for use. Like Rodinal it gives nice grain with lower ISO films, and pronounced grain, some say ugly even at higher ISO – say 400 and up. Longer development times seem more grainy. You have some control. See: Massive Dev Chart Film Development, Film Developing Database Examples:

1+25, faster, typically ~ 4-5 minutes. eg. 12ml into 300ml water, 150ml batch does 12 rolls of film.

1+50, slightly slower, around ~ 8 minutes but economical. eg. 6ml into 300ml water, gets 25rolls per batch.

1+100, for 60 minute stand development, acts as multi-ISO, grainy. eg. 3ml into 300ml – 50 rolls out of 150ml batch. Yikes.

Notes:

This developer is usually made with sodium sulphite but sodium metabisulpite is often more readily available from brew supply shops (and cheaper). From my online reading I believe mixing the latter with sodium hydroxide converts it to the former and that's why it is mixed separately and then combined. In any case I've used the above method and it works fine.

I often fill 5ml syringes with the developer and have on hand for quick and easy measured use, quick mixing and then into film tank. Use old jars for mixing as you don't want this stuff on kitchen food utensils.

anyway finally finished girls to the front. obviously had a lot of opinions about it. i have a lot more respect for the day-to-day lived realities of riot grrls and the underground community fostered. but like. man. is the music so secondary. my main critique of riot grrl is it took many of those bands growing out of the movement amd growing up to hit something truly, artistically great (music-wise).
