#When it comes to hero names/aliases

I would like to offer the idea of Tim going by the alias Corvid instead of Red Robin.
Red Robin made sense during the Brucequest and time immediately after. But that’s specifically because it was a reflection of his mental state at the time. Tim should’ve/should start using a different mantle/alias/identity after he restabilizes. And here’s why I think it should be Corvid:
Corvid is in reference to Corvidae birds (the crow family), which are generally considered to be one of/the most intelligent families of birds
Corvids are known to use tools like sticks (like his utility belt and bo staff)
Tim could have a primary costume/identity called Corvid, but could also have a variety of costumes/identities based on the birds of the corvidae family (crows, ravens, magpies, jays, etc.) for going undercover so he has a plethora of civilian identities (Tim Drake, Alvin Draper, Caroline Hill, etc) and vigilante-type identities
Corvids are often associated with and feature the colors black, blue, and/or purple which aligns with the colors of Batman and Black Bat/Orphan, Nightwing, and Spoiler—all of which being people that have had a lot of influence on him and/or that he’s close to. (I’m aware of him wearing black and red to honor Kon because it’s their colors and Kon died. But since Kon came back to life, it feels more like a grim reminder than a memoriam)
I also just like the different feather designs of different corvids which means more potential for cool costume designs
Corvids, in multiple different cultures, are considered to be omens/messengers of, usually, bad news. This could be a neat combination with Tim using intimidation as a weapon like Batman (or him just generally being bad news for criminals). If you want, there’s also the angst potential of him seeing himself as bad luck or bringing death to the people around him
People already use the names Blackbird and Crow as alternatives for Red Robin, which are pretty similar to Corvid. I just think Corvid sounds cooler
It’s still a bird-based name so I feel like, despite moving passed his time as Robin, it doesn’t entirely ignore his history as Robin
#I know that a tumblr post won’t change the comics and likely won’t even sway fandom opinion but I wanted to contribute regardless#The one positive thing about him going by Red Robin though is that it facilitates my headcanon that Tim’s creatively bankrupt#When it comes to hero names/aliases#Like the two names he came up with were adjective + the name he was already going by and his last fucking name#Tim Drake#Timothy drake#red robin#Red Robin dc#batfam#batfamily#batman#dc#not about naruto#my stooff#I came up with this because I was making a superhero oc I wanted to go by Corvid and I realized how much sense it made for Tim to go by it#Rambling

Dating life of an immortal teen
Jazz developed a liminal gift around the time of dannys accident due to exposure.
She starts to suspect since she hasn't grown as much since she was 17, it was so subtle barely anybody noticed: jazz has the gift of longevity and is not ageing as fast.
Unfortunately her parents were among the small number that started to notice and she had to leave 'for college' before they tried any 'experiments' on her (they were always far too quick in suspecting jazz of being a ghost).
So started the continually cycling aliases of Jazz [no last name given] as she tried to live her life travelling around the country.
Occasionally she would meet someone and be happily in their life for a while, before having to move again (either forced or scheduled)
Her secret finally comes out when one of her early ex's recognises her in a photo with their younger co-worker... who then realises another co-worker is also an ex... until most of the group realise they've dated her at one point in their lives... then it gets noticed by their sister organisation who also recognise her.
Now anywhere else this could be humorous except these are no ordinary coworkers...
They're hero's.
Jazz has accidentally been 'Dating' her way through a large chunk of the the justice leagues civilian identities all across america and the world! (Not to mention JL: Dark) she has no idea they were hero's only that they were charming and she was lonely.
now the paranoid members (eg. Batman, the Question, Constantine, wonder woman) are worried she was preying on them and need to investigate.

꒰ ﹒Iris Dikaiosyni presentation !!
Feel free to ask questions about her
Inpiration

Intro
Iris is from the Kingdom of Heroes. Before coming to RSA, she was homeschooled and never had a normal education in a public place. Her parents want her to work in the same place as them when she is an adult. They decided to take care of her education alone so she is ready to take the lead. Because of this Iris have never really thought for herself before coming to college. Her interest is mostly flowers. She likes to assign people blossoms and take them very seriously in the art of flower Language. She also has a very strong sense of justice. Something her family always taught her. As much as she is pretty socially awkward considering the fact she had little to no social interaction. She managed to have some friends and work on how to communicate with people. RSA helped her become a new person and discover herself. Changing her hair which was naturally pink now are red, changed the way she dressed, and even tried to find good makeup. She also watches a lot of movies talking about entering school so she understands better how things work. She just thought that part where all the school was singing was maybe too much so erase it on her list of stuff to do for the first day.
Before coming to RSA Iris decided to change completely her look.
The first day there was very hard for her considering the amount of people and the feeling of being lonely. After a few weeks, she managed to insert herself into a group of friends.

You know, for someone who says he's just a bumbling reporter from Kansas, Clark really has some... classy tastes when it comes to lovers.
Lana Lang, his high school Sweetheart? She's currently an editor for the planet. Before that? First Lady of America
College girlfriend? A mermaid named Lori Lemaris who is so far high on the Atlantian social ladder she regularly WORKS WITH THE KING.
After that? Lisa Lasalle, a literal model who hit Zod with a truck.
And not to forget Lois Lane, that woman alone could take over the world if she wanted!
Clark Joseph Kent may say he's a humble farm boy but man his taste is expensive. And when you look at his friends it's the same thing!
What do you mean your childhood best friends were the president (Lex Luthor), his vice president who then took over presidency (Pete Ross) and his (now ex-)wife Lana Lang?!?!
Also, he's publicly friends with Diana and Bruce. Diplomat Princess Diana and Billionaire Bruce Wayne. They eat in restaurants and hang out together and no one bats an eye.
Akso, one might argue "but Jimmy Olsen is just a normal dude!" No he's NOT. He is either A) a rich orphan from an old money, high society family (sounds familiar?) and distantly related to Lex Luthor or B) the son of is a literal super spy who died during a mission.
Also, Jimmy had so many different hero aliases over the years: Elastic Lad, Flamebird, Turtle Man, Turtle Boy, Mister Action, Speed Demon, Wolf-Man ...Robin. Not kidding Jim was trained by Dick and was Robin for a while in one universe.
TLDR: Clark may say he's just a normal guy but considering the people he surrounds himself with he should be called a minor celebrity of his own.
#he probably made Perry cry when he told him for the nth time that reporting on some high interest figure would be a conflict of interest#no wonder he's always getting yelled at#dc comics#dcu#clark kent#superman#I'm not tagging all these people sry

Anna-May "Mayday" Parker (AMAZING! Marvel AU)

Character art from @2dswirl on Tumblr (link to post); homemade suit from Spider-Girl Vol. 1 #1 (Pat Olliffe, Al Williamson and Christie Scheele)
"There are so many stories of normal people who become heroes. That's my dad's story. Me? I was BORN like this. Powers and monsters and costumes? It's been my life as long as I can remember. For me, it IS normal."
Created By - Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, Mark Bagley (Mayday); Dan Slott, Adam Kubert (Annie)
First Appearance - What If...? #105 (Dec. 1997, Mayday); Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #1 (June. 2015, Annie)
Origin - Human mutate, inherited powers from her father
Aliases - Mayday, Annie, AMP, Hotshot
Identity - Publicly known to be Spider-Man's daughter, but her having inherited his powers is secret
Status - Active
Bio
Anna-May "Mayday" Parker is the daughter of Mary Jane Watson-Parker and Peter Parker, the retired (mostly) superhero known as Spider-Man. Since her birth, Mayday has grown up with the mantle of "Spider-Man's daughter" and all of the attention + expectations that come with it. Despite not inheriting her father's powers, Mayday aspires to make the world a better place like her father has through more down-to-earth means.
At least, that's the public story.
The truth is, Mayday has been crawling all over walls and ceilings since she was a baby. Since she can remember, she's grown up admiring her dad and surrounded by all manner of heroes. Being publicly recognized as the daughter of a superhero isn't easy, and Peter knew that would be the case since the moment he decided he was gonna reveal his identity to the world during the Superhero Civil War. So he devised a plan: while the Parker family couldn't hide their daughter as Spider-Man's child, they could hide the fact that she had powers to begin with and give her the chance at a normal life.
To that end, Peter build an inhibitor chip that Mayday wears as a bracelet. While she has it on, her powers are nullified and she passes as a regular human. When taken off, Mayday has access to all of her powers and abilities. In Peter's eyes, the least he could do was give her daughter the opportunity to decide which type of hero she wants to be (one with a public or a secret identity).
Thus, Mayday lives a double-life:
During the day, she's a regular high school student. Popular with her peers (in part due to her dad's identity), a student council president, the top basketball player for her school and dating a caring boyfriend, Mayday is a thriving teenager.
At night (and some weekends), Mayday trains. She wants to be a hero like her dad and Peter agreed to train her years ago, under the condition that she wait till after high school graduation to go out as a superhero. Thus she is mentored regularly by her dad, the current Spider-Man Miles, and Daredevil.
Despite this arrangement, Mayday also inherited her father's inability to NOT help people, so she has several times used her powers in secret without her father's knowledge to protect civilians and fight criminals... an endeavor aided by her little brother, who in such occasions is the "kid in the chair" for her big sister.
A charismatic, headstrong, energetic and hot-blooded teenager (as well as a not-so-secret geek); Mayday waits and waits until the day she is finally given real web-shooters and can join the ranks of the superhero community with her father's blessing... and she already has a name in mind!

Sandwich: the family dog!
Affiliations
Close hero allies: Mayday has met many superheroes through her father but her closest bonds are with Spider-Man III (Miles Morales) and Daredevil (Matthew Murdock), both her superhero mentors along with her dad. She's also close to the Fantastic Five (especially Valeria and Franklin)
Group affiliations: None
Powers and Abilities
Enhanced strength, dexterity and agility, even more agile than her dad (can regularly lift around 6 tons, more with exertion)
Spider sense enhances her agility, speed and reaction time; also warns her of danger. Mayday's spider sense is stronger than her father's, meaning she knows EXACTLY what the dangers are and from where (sometimes to the point where she can sense dangerous events minutes or hours before they even happen). Due to training from Daredevil, she can also use her spider sense to guide her and fight while blind.
Can cling to any surface and climb/run up walls. Mayday can extend her sticking abilities to people/objects within a radius around her as long as there's connecting materials to them. She can also reverse her sticking ability to push objects away from her and add force to her jumps.
Trained in combat by her father, Miles and Matt
A bracelet made by Peter that functions discreetly as a web-shooter (to be used strictly for self-defense)
Very knowledgeable on a variety of science and technological topics
Pretty good artist/drawer
Good at taunts and witty retorts
OOU Commentary
I love Mayday and Annie a lot, as I'm sure most fans of the Spider-Marriage do. While I debated a lot if both should be included as their own characters, I chose not to for 2 reasons:
While they're not identical, I felt like there were not enough aspects that differentiate Mayday and Annie to justify having them both in this AU (and to have them stand-out from each other as characters)
I wanted to keep Peter and MJ's miscarriage as part of their story. To me part of Peter's core as a character is that he's relatable and, despite being a superhero, he deals with our same human struggles through life. To that end, a miscarriage is something a lot of couples/parents go through and is a very hard event to deal with but that can forge an even stronger bond if overcome (in this AU the miscarriage didn't happen because of Norman Osborn's meddling or any such nonsense: it was just a complicated pregnancy with an unfortunate end)
As a compromise I decided to combine the two, with Mayday being the main pillar as the more established daughter and folding aspects of Annie into her character. I've also thrown in a bit of stuff from The New Ultimate Universe May, which may grow based on the development of her character in the (currently ongoing) Ultimate Spider-Man.
Related Asks
When you say mentored by daredevil do you mean Matt Murdock or Elektra (or someone else?)
For now, I mean Matt Murdock. As of this moment I don't know what to do with Elektra but I do plan on getting to her eventually together with fleshing out Matt.
Updates
5/20/2025 - Finalized the lineup of the Fantastic Four, now the Fantastic Five, updated group name accordingly.

Comparative Mythologies of the Long Night: Part Two – Azor Ahai and The Red Sword
In part one, we looked at the origin story of the Long Night, and the ways in which it is reflected in the main series. Now, we shall move on to discuss the heroes who seemingly saved the world.

The most notable of these heroes, with whom you are likely aware, is the one most commonly known as Azor Ahai; emerging from Asshai, this is the hand that wields the flaming sword Lightbringer. They are also known as Hyrkoon the Hero, Yin Tar, Neferion, and Eldric Shadowchaser.

As a brief aside, it is interesting to note that all of these names can be related to specific places in Essos; the Patrimony of Hyrkoon is an ancient nation, Yin is a city in Yi Ti that has often been its capital, ‘Nefer’ is the last city in the distant kingdom of N’ghai, ‘the Shadow’, or the ‘Shadow Lands’ are a region in the furthest east, with AssHAI in the southwest, serving as something of a gateway to them – and it is the Shadow, as we will later learn, from whence the dragons may have first originated; tamed by an ancient, unnamed people.
Whether this solid anchoring of these heroic aliases in various places means anything more than a suggestion that the hero – or heroes – may have come from there, or were perhaps claimed by those peoples, I will leave you to ponder. For now, we shall turn to Azor Ahai’s legend.
Of Azor Ahai (AA), we have the most available information of all of the legends we shall discuss. He is also the only one explicitly prophesied to return again, and the manner in which AA shall return and be heralded is very clearly laid out for us from multiple sources.

AA is described as a leader, wielding a burning sword that radiates heat and light. He gave ‘courage to […] men and [led] the virtuous into battle’, returning ‘light and love’ to the world. So we should account for these aspects, as well as the finer points of the prophecy.
Much has been said about who AA reborn might be, with many candidates proposed. I will not be spilling that ink here; it’s Daenerys. Born on Dragonstone, a smoking isle in the great salt sea, she arose when darkness gathered and, beneath a bleeding star, awoke dragons from stone.

I would also point out that even Jon Snow, upon hearing of the Prophecy in the context of Mel’s candidate Stannis, zeroes on the importance of Stannis not being born on Dragonstone. One can almost hear the author himself tapping his fingers impatiently, no?

If you favour another candidate, a more abstract interpretation of the prophecy, feel free to do your own research and present it elsewhere; I am interested primarily in exploring the myths, not arguing. However, I do hope you will let me expand on my case and consider it fairly.
Dany becomes a leader, bringing hope and courage to mankind and returning light and love to those lost in the darkness. Moreover, she inspires them to fight for themselves, for their lives and loves; leading them into battle, but not doing their fighting for them.
I would also briefly highlight this echo of command from Quaithe, in light of one of AA’s names being ‘Shadowchaser’ – and that Quaithe wishes Dany to go to Asshai, from whence the myths of AA were born and the prophecy was written.

Going back here may mean in a temporal sense, revisiting the origins of AA and learning who he was, what he did, and most notably for Daenerys, why it was needed. She is, as present, unaware of the encroaching darkness that threatens the world, on any level except subconsciously through her dreams. A revelation is needed.
To add to this, we have the ‘Prince that was Promised’ title; these are used interchangeably with AA by Mel and by Maester Aemon and seem to often refer to the same person; in light of GRRM’s addition of Aegon’s dream to the canon, my interpretation is that they do refer to the same person, but by accident. Though we do not yet have it in GRRM’s words, Aegon saw the return of the Long Night and a Targaryen fighting against it. This is tPtwP, Aegon’s name for this leader who happens to also be the one who woke the dragons from stone to fight the cold.

And it is Aegon’s dream that dream-driven Targaryens have stumbled across in their scrolls – what Rhaegar to become a warrior and thence to confer the promise he initially saw in himself upon his newborn son. The Red Priests who herald Dany speak only of AA; Mel may have discovered tPtwP on Dragonstone itself. All other sources for the Promised Prince title seem to be either Targaryen or Targaryen adjacent – such as Barristan, who himself speaks of Jenny of Oldstones’ witch friend, presumably close to certain Targaryens.

But what of Lightbringer? Daenerys is not trained in arms, so how can she wield a sword? Recall that AA reborn is marked by waking dragons from stone and wielding Lightbringer. There is no separate mention of forging/reforging a sword. Perhaps there is more to the tale than that?
So let us examine Lightbringer and its forging; AA makes three attempts to forge the blade, quenching it in water, lion’s blood and, in his successful forging, the living heart of his wife, Nissa Nissa. The blade is described, by the Jade Compendium, as making its own fiery heat.

The blade never being cold, but being warm as Nissa Nissa was warm, is very alike to the description of dragons being ‘fire made flesh’; and the description of Lightbringer in action resembles nothing so much as the affect of Drogon’s flames. Lightbringer, Red Sword of Heroes, is not a blade; it is the dragons awoken from stone. But what of the three forgings? The exact arrangement of the forgings is sometimes debated, but the one I favour is this arrangement: the first forging in ‘water’.

The second in the ‘heart of a lion’; note that this moment is so important it appears again in the dreams that guide Dany’s steps to her eventual success.

And the third, successful forging – in the ‘sacred flames’ of a funeral pyre, fed by the blood of heart’s beloved. Note the proximity of the water/lion/heart imagery on each occasion, and that the conversations following the first scenes are about dragons, and then about war.

In the chapter prior to the pyre, Dany has dreams haunted by a pursuing cold, and by ghosts urging her on, with very familiar gemstone eyes; this links Dany and the dragons explicitly to the Great Empire of the Dawn and thus to the Long Night that followed the Blood Betrayal.

These dreams also link the dragons to sacrifice, just as Lightbringer is linked to Nissa Nissa’s sacrifice. Dany’s dreams show us the lives lost in her journey to that point (though Drogo is not yet entirely lost to her); those she has lost will lend their names to the dragons.

Blood sacrifice is a deeply potent power, both within ASOIAF and without. Many characters tell us of the potency of shed blood; of kin, king, and of holy men. Within many cultures in our own world, blood sacrifice was a holy act, to ward off catastrophe, as payment – and penance.
In Aztec mythology, for instance, it is now generally understood that blood sacrifice, both of slain captives but also one’s own blood on a daily basis, was both a fuel offered up to the gods for their daily labours, and as repayment for the debt owed by the living to the gods for their sacrifices made when creating the fifth sun, and so all human life. The dreams emphasise Dany’s own shed blood from the beginning; in her bloody footsteps, the burning in her womb, and the burning blood from her torn open back, which ultimately grants her wings.
When the time comes, she offers up her own blood by walking unafraid into the sacred flames of the funeral pyre, to bleed with her fallen beloved. Dany alone, among all Targaryens who have attempted to bring back dragons, took the last and most important step of self-sacrifice.
But if we understand blood sacrificed to be offered up, not just for power but for payment of debt, what debt is Dany paying here? Moreover, have we strayed from AA in this talk of blood magic and penance? I would argue not; for just as Dany’s Lightbringer is living dragons, so too do I believe that AA’s red sword was no literal blade, but dragons also.
I would here posit that Azor Ahai, in the coldest, darkest night, sought to bind fire made flesh to humankind. I propose that he tried and failed twice, before binding dragons to the fate of men.
I implore you to consider that Nissa Nissa was a dragon.
This concludes Part Two. Part Three shall answer the question, ‘what in the world did she mean by that last comment?’, by examining sacrifice, necessity, and the long, sad history of House Targaryen’s ritual offerings of innocence as payment.

Katsuki Bakugo x Shoto twin reader
These are for my good friend irl :) ENJOY!!
btw this is written with fem! Reader in mind. Yes I will likely do a male reader version dw 💗 (i don’t think it’ll have shoto twin reader)
So bakugo in a relationship huh? Not the first thing I’d think he’s into but hey, it’s already happened now! 🤷♀️
About kats and todo’s beef tho….
at the beginning I mean
katsuki isn’t the type of person to lump people in with your siblings or wtv
buttttt if you and shoto are similar/have similar personalities or interests he might somewhat dislike you at first
if not he doesn’t mind
but it’d especially tick him off if you and todo gang up on him in fights/arguments
but again he decides his opinion of you based off what you show him him or how you present yourself
which is why he didn’t remember most people’s names at the beginning of the show
bc he didn’t have anything to remember them by-
he may come up to you on some sunny callin you icy hot 2.0 n stuff but if you assert your dominance and show him you deserve respect then he lets go of that quickly
not out of fear but because katsuki doesn’t really pick on the people he respects
best jeanist is a great example of what I mean!
if your relation to todo is really similar however
he might find you a bit more annoying at first
he just thinks of you as the off brand version of todoroki until you give him a reason to respect you 😗
Although if your talking more mature kats when it’s like s4 around then he’s more likely to view you as your own person first time around
he also doesn’t do any of that crap anymore and doesn’t mind that you and todo are twins
he used to always mutter ‘your wretched brother’ this and that
but he cut that out
i mean unless you nipped it in the bun back then 🤪
and to do that you likely have to humble him
So after that phase is over nicknames can range from a shorter version of your name to aliases he/people have given you
like how shoto’s quirk is hot/cold so he calls him icy hot
But whatever he comes up with for you isn’t said with a bad intent by him, of course
And w/ cooking you already know his is FIRE 🔥🔥💥💥
like it’s canon this man can cook like 💃💃🕺👯♀️👯♀️
(that’s you dancing bc his food’s so good)
GET YOU A MAN LIKE KATSUKI. GET YOU A MAN THAT CAN COOK. 💥💥💥
he be using all types of seasoning so you KNOW it ain’t dry
especially if your a spicy food lover
like I feel he genuinely doesn’t get people who doesn’t like spicy food
he may think your a bit of a wimp..🤓
If you inherited endeavor’s fire quirk he finds it useful that you can lite his barbecues or make fire for cooking in the woods for example
he still heated that explosions don’t work 🤦♀️
but ngl he’d rather you than shoto sooo..🤷♀️
For love languages his is quality time, acts of service and a bit of gift giving
with quality time he likes to ice skate with you since (if you inherited the ice quirk) you can withstand the cold
He’d try to impress you by saying he’s not that cold (even with a coat on) but he actually is
why would he admit that tho
he’s actually cold don’t torture him by staying longer than you need to
(or do I ain’t gonna judge 😂)
kats likes challenges because it makes him feel accomplished once he completed them
So he likes to do freezer challenges!!
(basically it’s this challenge where you go into a walk in freezer and see who can last the longest—don’t try this at home I’ve only seen this on YouTube and idk if that’s the actual name)
and of course your immune to the cold so it’s easy for you
so if he beats you it’ll make him feel proud
don’t think that just bc your his girlfriend he doesn’t compete with you
there’s no way he’s seeing an opportunity to become the number 1 hero and not taking it to let his girlfriend be happy
don’t blame him who would……
when you first get into your relationship things might be a little awkward and you may or may not be a little intimidated by him
which if you are he feels sorta bad and he doesn’t want you to be
he doesn’t want people he cares about to think he’s some monster
if you were just come class b rubbish what does he care what you think?
but your his girlfriend and probably his first of course he cares what you think of him!
you likely address this early because he doesn’t like the feeling it gives him
so no worries :)
if you were never intimidated by him tho
its probably just awkward silence..
even more so if you were as aloof as todo was back in the first season
or if your just a quiet/socially awkward person
kats isn’t awkward he just doesn’t really know what to say either..
deeper in relationship tho!!
things are a lot less tense and more casual
a thing you do a lot is kinda just be sprawled in bed together doing your own thing
not necessarily cuddling but your both just comfy
you guys have picked up on your couple routines and habits and what not
so things have definitely smoothed over
thankfully
with baths kats prefers not to take them together
like he just doesn’t see the point
and it’s prob quicker separately
yeah no he’s not doing it
if you’ve been together for years by now, however
he might let you wash his hair
only cuz he likes the way you scrub/scratch his scalp
its relaxing
he still doesn’t wanna do it all the time tho
You two def always work out together
so at least that
he always makes sure you pack everything before going to train/work out
he’s more meticulous than you know and it annoys him when one of you forget something
“it’s fine katsuki just leave it!”
”no I’ll just go run and get it it’s fine!”
you might as well wait bc he just has to have this one thing
idk why
you guys take a good amount of water breaks and such but you go really hard core while your at it
He’s probably either silent or a yelling motivator..no in between

Parahuman OC Submission for rating :)
Chameleon
Civilian names/aliases: Cameron Lyon, aka Catherine Fischer, Tara Deccles, Felicity Ines
Alignment: Rogue/Villain
Classification: Changer/Stranger (Thinker)
Power: Has the power to change her appearance to match people's expectations of her. (e.g. walking in a busy business area at rush hour puts her as a 30 something professional in business casual, walking into a McDonalds staff room puts her into uniform.)
She has little control over what her form looks like, but can focus it slightly to align with certain people's expectations more than others. A lot of her skill with her power comes from social manipulation, she'll give brief descriptions of how she wants to be seen by people over the phone before actually meeting them, to prime them in certain directions, or she'll bring a ladder or a toolbox places and end up looking like the maintenance staff.
The thinker component is because she gets the skills to match whatever people expect, so if her powers make her a lawyer she can have the skills to back that up. She's memorized buzzwords/keywords for several fields so she can try and 'convince' people she should know what's going on, which then gives her the skills.
Minor additional stranger ability that causes people not to notice if she changes shape in front of them, otherwise she'd get constantly flagged as parahuman.
Her power does not make people think she belongs, just lets her act the part.
Trigger: Isolated teen w. Controlling parents, had the Internet as an escape BC they didn't know enough to block it.
Catfishes people online as a incredibly unhealthy way to work through subconscious gender feels.
Various personas end up having more vibrant and interesting lives than her, she screws up and a couple people connect her accounts somehow BC she got details wrong.
Complete collapse of identity as her various personas come under scrutiny.
Trigger.
Triggered at 17, is 19 now
Changeling Consort was supposed to have a lot more guidance from Eden this cycle.
Other info: Ran from home after triggering, used her power to pull "hi I'm the new overnight worker, didn't the manager say?" and then stealing food/from the register until word got around and people got wise to it.
Cycled through her different persona names while trying and failing to establish herself, before finally settling in on Cameron.
All of her persona names are animals if you squint (Chameleon, Catfish, Pterodactyl, Feline).
Slowly worked her way into corporate espionage and then also the official side of that where she gets paid by a company to try and break in to stranger-proof their security systems.
When she can't find corporate jobs she also works as an escort at a high class escort agency that she is the only employee of because she can show up looking exactly how her client wants.
This led to her only actual arrest because they could charge her on suspicion of prostitution, as a way to try and pressure her into joining the PRT. Charges were dropped but the PRT has interfered with a few of her jobs since so moneys been tough for her since. I think she's probably in a city the Elite don't have a super strong presence in, but she'd definitely be on their list as a rogue to prop up if they set up shop.
One particular local hero has her built up as an oversexed like, femme fatale type in his head beyond any other hero/PRT staff and she hates his fucking guts for it.
I was just going to say "uh, thats like an useful oliver" lol.
Honestly she sounds pretty neat. The only thing with doing that kind of espionage is that you can bet your ass every company has one thinker looking over everything so it would interesting to see how she overcomes that.
Also my mind first tought "oh the prt is just raiding her because taxes" and now i can't stop thinking about the PRT's little taxman coming after her.
8.3/10

Is that it? The dorm leader carped at this.
“I care for them, so I will not..”

The protector did not look frisky with him.

omg tell me more abt captains superheroes au!!!!!
GLADLY!
so my general idea here is five (mostly) solo superheroes coming together as a team. still not sure what actually brings the five of them together/why they choose to start working as a team but. thats the idea!
rambling under the cut, shoutout to @wormcoded he helped me come up with like. all of the superhero aliases.
before i forget, a note here that i think they're like. college aged here? maybe a little older.
a rundown on each of them:
kuroo - forcefield user!! violet from incredibles core except no invisibility. i really liked the idea of him having a power that's mostly defensive because of him being a middle blocker in canon. and i think a power that would force him to think creatively (for offensive use) suits him well. crafty bastard (affectionate).
the superhero alias he WANTS to go by and is trying to make happen is 'Pure Carbon', however the public have decided on something different (i have yet to figure out what though)
he doesn't fully work solo before meeting the others! he has kenma as his guy in the chair. kenma was the first one to know when kuroo figured out he had powers and has helped him come up with creative ways to use it. literally kuroo would not the hero he is without kenma. (the kuroken in this au is 100% platonic though, im shooting for kurodai i think)
the fact that kuroo has a civilian helping him will cause conflict with two of the others (daichi & oikawa) later though.
bokuto, "supernova" - i don't know how to easily sum up his powers. um... he can float/fly and he can glow :] light based powers basically. very much tied to his emotions too. i imagine there's more for him to discover. i kinda like the idea of him being a newer hero who has only gotten his powers recently.
also fairly strong but it's unknown whether these are his powers or if he's just like that. (probably the latter) i think he's the one who is the most eager for them to be a cool superhero team. the heart, if you will.
he mostly works solo HOWEVER. akaashi does know bokuto's secret and is the one who coined bokuto's superhero name. big akaashi gay moment but also he kinda had to step in cause bokuto was fully prepared to just go by his name, lmao. akaaahi being fully in the loop similarly causes issues with the group (again, oikawa and daichi) when they figure it out.
undecided whether bokuaka are dating or still Pining So Hard.
daichi, "kenichi" - does not have powers! just some guy, the hero. sort of the reason why his superhero persona name is just. a name. (kenichi can mean 'strong first son') and also well he's daichi. i'm thinking he isn't even the one who came up with it, a little old lady he helped called him it and it stuck. everyone's older brother :]
i need to figure what his whole deal is. how he fights, why he started this, etc etc but. he is literally So hero complex (part one). but him not having any powers just felt right to me. daichi would be the token normal guy on a superhero team.
his friendships are. mostly okay? but suga has picked up on daichi obviously hiding something from them and just acting really weird. so he's trying to get to the bottom of it. in a nosy annoying friend way to mask that he's actually getting really worried. he's made asahi aware of this too though asahi is of the mind that daichi will come to them eventually so they should just give him time.
ushijima, "miracle boy" - has been a hero the longest. i think he was born with his powers while the other three developed them later in life. (still undecided whether it was a natural thing or if some of them had Science Mishaps)
he has very cliche superman-esque powers. flight, super strength, etc.
and im toying with the idea of like. yes he is Miracle Boy but he also doesn't really have a "secret identity". anyone could find out his real name if they dug deep enough. more of a public figure than the others.
and with that in mind, i think it being something where like he was Exposed as a teenager and as a result ended up pulling away from the friendships he had then. but he gets inspired later (by bokuto!) to maybe try and rekindle these friendships.
oikawa, "sōzu" - plant powers. obviously. i had to do it. i also like the idea of them being semi-tied to his emotions like bokuto's. they're guys with big emotions to me. the inspiratiom for his name is a japanese water fountain that's designed to scare away wildlife from gardens. yes he's a little pretentious. yes he would probably say something dramatic about the whole city being his garden. it's just who he is as a person.
hero complex PART TWO! in a different font than daichi but still.
is in the process of basically torpedoing all of his relationships in the name of "keeping his loved ones safe". king of self destructive tendencies.
basically, a few months ago he broke up with iwaizumi but didn't tell him the real reason why. (iwaizumi does not know about oikawa's secret however he does heavily suspect that oikawa is hiding something from him) they are trying to do the "lets stay friends" thing but it's not going so well. iwaizumi is mad because oikawa is obviously keeping something from him and he's trying to act like nothing happened between them.
his friendships with makki and mattsun are also strained because of the whole iwaizumi thing and also he keeps randomly ditching their hangouts with shitty excuses for superhero reasons.
(there is a whole odd miraculous ladybug-esque iwaoisuga sort of love triangle happening here but i'm trying not to write more for oikawa's section than everyone else 💀)
#superhero captains au#<- TAG!#hehehehehehehe#villain wise im unsure of what to do....#they need guys to fight 😭#i have thoughts on civilian suga too but that may be saved for a different post

PLF Advisors: My Take on their Aliases, Bios and Quirks
Because why not celebrate this blog no longer being shadowbanned than by another list of MHA's most bizarrely handled Villains!~ Here is basically the names I thought up for most of them and tried to keep it in line with the whole 'religious' aspect of the MLA. Quirks are kind of based on vibes.
Sanctum

“Currently, the oldest living member of the Meta Liberation Army turned Paranormal Liberation Front. Strict, no-nonsense person that basically acted as temp MLA leader until Re-Destro was of age. He became Twice’s #1 Advisor in order to try to direct the most unstable of the League of Villains to more MLA values. It hasn’t really gone well in that regards. He joined the MLA since he genuinely believed that society’s current draconian ruling regarding Quirks was unsustainable and a new order that supported liberal usage of powers was beneficial to all metahuman kind. His base was a well known private university with Sanctum serving as it's President that would indoctrinate youth to the MLA. ”
Meta Ability: Sanctum - He creates an impromptu hideout for temporary rest and recouping for his allies...and if any enemy tries to answer without permission they are mentally harmed until they leave or die.
Vent

“The second oldest member of the Meta Liberation Army. A Heteromorph whose seen a lot of tragic sights regarding discrimination for being so visually different and joined the MLA in hopes of elevating hopes of reform. Though in his age, he has since passed down his fire to Disgustus, while mellowing out a good deal. These days he likes to tell young folk stories of his youth and act as a mentor. Dislikes being called Grandpa. His base is a scrapyard that has hands in many recycling program efforts and non-profits, especially those related to defective support items in the hero industry and is constantly seeking volunteers/accepting rehab people to help in Vent’s operations…and eventually the MLA’s.”
Meta Ability: Air Manipulation - For a brief space and time, he can alter air to be able to fly or use air pressure to stall/crush his foes.
Blossom

“Otherwise known as Auntie Blossom to the younger people in the MLA (she hates being called Grandma - she’s not that old yet!!). She operated an orphanage that took in kids and teens being abandoned or coming in abused because of society’s intolerance to Quirks and lack of accommodation for them. When the orphanage was in danger of being shut down, the MLA stepped in to give it the funds it needed to thrive. Because of that, both Blossom’s loyalty and a new stream of recruits was acquired that day. Blossom loves to spoil the younger MLA folks rotten, and can’t help but dote on even her peers as well. However, she has no love for the current status quo and is ruthless against those that support it. She’s the mother to another Advisor in the Violet Regiment.”
Meta Ability: Sweet Smell - Emits a pleasant scent that lowers enemies accuracy and evasion...leaving them open for Blossom and her broom spear.
Fervor

“Dabi’s 1st ranked Advisor. Just one look and you get all that you would know of about FErvor. He’s an energetic to the point of insane man, whose own self-preservation isn’t even remotely close on his mind. He’s an utter battle junkie that loves to go all out with is Quirk in brawls. He was recruited int othe MLA after higher-ups witnessed his power in a street fight, and sought to recruit him. Currently, he’s the manager of a support Despite his looks, he’s actually pretty friendly to his underlings and his co-workers…they still are pretty wary of him though.”
Meta Ability: Frenzy - Like a shark, he enters a frenzied state when smelling blood. His pain sensors dull, and he grows faster and stronger too.
Strict

“Strict is one of many in the Meta Liberation Army that believed he should have had a better lot in life than what he has now. He actually aspired to be a Hero himself, but his brutal disposition and cold attitude towards civilians/people he thought of as lesser had him expelled from his school. Eventually, during his current stint as head of a security company, he would come across Destro’s book, which eventually lead to him joining the MLA.”
Meta Ability: Gaseous - He can turn the very air around him into different sorts of gases.
Pierce

“Pierce is an up-and-coming Commander of the Meta Liberation Army. He’s known as the charismatic bad boy of the new generation of MLA executives. He’s dating Bless, and is known for being a teasing, yet loyal companion. Pierce joined the MLA as a wayward youth without much to his name, yet eager to make his mark on the world. The base he controls over is actually a hostel that he acts as a hangout for lost souls like himself and a refuge for those with nowhere to go, with Pierce essentially being their big brother figure.”
Meta Ability: Puncture - He can make holes in anyone and anything, though in himself, it's mostly harmless.
Wisdom

“Wisdom has the reputation of being the most levelheaded of the PLF Advisors. Wisdom is a Quirk therapist that helps people deal with the trauma or issues their powers have given them. As a result, though, he was constantly butting heads with the current dogma concerning the ineffective Quirk counseling at the time. Eventually, in frustration he joined the MLA to change society’s views, and uses his position as a therapist to guide more hurt people towards an organization that will readily accept them and their powers.”
Meta Ability - Flash Orb. He can throw out orbs that act as mini-bombs and/or flashbangs on his targets.
Bless

“Bless is a woman who was essentially raised into the MLA as apart of its new generation of MLA executives. Bless is the daughter of Blossom, and had been helping her mother ever since she was young in her endeavors with the Cause. She’s a deadpan snarker, and doesn’t hold a high opinion concerning a lot of her allies and their intelligence, but is devoted to working with what she got. Dating Pierce, who genuinely loves her, even with her face being scarred due to her Quirk - something she is self-conscious about. She's running her own private clinic that especially caters to those who struggle with Quirk related illness or injuries, and holds the most medical knowledge of the Advisors.”
Meta Ability: Corrosive Breath - She can emit noxious, steel melting breath. Due to the potency of her breath, she needs her guard to properly keep it under control.
Sly

“Sly is a Heteromorphic man that comes from a poor, neglected, family with fox Quirks. Ultimately, he split up for them in an attempt to make it on his own as a businessman, dissatisfied with society’s treatment of them. He joined Detnerat as apart of its weapon testing branch and eventually becoming acting director of his own division once he joined the MLA. He’s frugal man that loathes wasteful spending, having come from a home that relied on every cent counting.”
Meta Ability: Fox! He can do everything a fox can!!
Speculate

“Speculate was Curious’ Vice President of Shoowaysha, handling things in the organization while her boss was away. Her own inquisitive nature and need for the truth had her meet Curious as kindred spirits who have been disillusioned with journalism concerning Hero Society. As one can expect, she holds mixed feelings regarding working under Toga. However, she tries to be professional and polite when going about her new PLF life, determined to see Curious’ will come to fruition.”
Meta Ability: Shutterbugs. Can create little minions to act as her means of attack or recon of any area or person.
Keen

“An introvert to their core, Keen is the most reclusive member of the MLA commanders, but is still one of their best assets. A skilled programmer in their own right, Keen was recruited by the MLA after Skeptic was impressed by their own set of programming skills when Keen applied for Feel Good Inc. Skeptic introduced them to the fold and they eventually became commander of a base that was an Internet Cafe. They’re a major Star Wars fan and would rather not be seen out of their cosplay.”
Meta Ability: Tamper - They can tamper with any electronic device and use that to either attack or disrupt their foes.
Bold

“A former street fighter in her younger years, Bold is a big sister type, she loves to rumble and is highly competitive, so when the MLA offered her a world where she can do that her heart’s content, she readily agreed. Bold runs a private gym and is always eager to help new clients get in shape themselves.”
Meta Ability: Brawn Boost - Can enhance her muscles for a limited amount of time.
Red

“It’s hard to imagine that Red was a 1st-ranked Advisor with his laidback attitude, but he was actually one of the most active members of the Intelligence Regiment. He owns his own bar that’s an active hotspot for disgruntled patrons and broken folk, as well as government official and Heroes who are prone to letting things slip in their drunken states. Like many others, he joined the MLA out of frustration with the system. He oftens tries to get Skeptic to go drinking with him, to no avail.”
Meta Ability: Liquid Control - Red can bend liquid to his will and even manipulate it to act as weapons.
Slidin’ Go

“Was once the highest ranked Hero in the Meta Liberation army before Hawks joined the PLF. He was one of many struggling Heroes in the thousands, barely being able to scrape by due to his lack of popularity. It was the MLA that reached out to him, promoting him and getting him in the upper echelons of the Hero rankings, in exchange for his loyalty.”
Meta Ability: Some slide on the wiki already.
Victory

“A Heteromorphic man who life hasn’t really been kind to him, since minute one, given his toad mutation. Pretty much a social outcast, he was left with little choice but to join the MLA to gain some sort of refuge. He’s very bright and a great engineer, if a bit sloppy, and it’s to the point he’s in charge of his own workshop for the Cause, where he develops much of the cutting edge support items Detnerat uses.”
Meta Ability: Toad. He can do whatever a toad can.
Power

“A grumpy individual that thinks highly of himself and lowly of those not in his position. He was a fierce believer in the Electric Dream - that those who hold electrification Quirks were destined for greatness in Hero Society due to their powers always being in demand. However, his ego and carelessness had him lose job after job in such fields. Bitter and wanting nothing more than to dominate the society that ‘failed to see his greatness’, his eyes were turned to the MLA. He is currently the chief of security of one of their hideouts that acts as a supply depot.”
Meta Ability: Amplivolt - Can do whatever shocking thing it does on the wiki.
Flair

“Flair is a part of the new generation of MLA commanders that was set to take over the organization’s reigns later on in life. Flair is a pretty boy that has the hearts of many of soldiers, boy, and girls alike, with his down to earth nature making him very likable. Flair runs a cafe that actually serves a hangout spot for his fellow Commanders and even other higher-ups when they just want a chance to unwind. He also plays guitar and likes doing songs cover to his cafe audience.”
Meta Ability: Heat Spikes - Can generate a layer of fire spikes to use against his foes, and can cover his body with them as well like a porcupine.
Question

“Who are they? Now that’s the Question: and the answer is fairly simple! The Question is a flamboyant actor who dreamt of making their theatre a big shot in the entertainment world. But, sadly, while they were a good manager, it was a constant struggle to keep the theatre afloat. Thankfully, the MLA stepped in to provide said fundings for not only repairs but to even host plays that made use of the talent’s Quirks as well!! While controversial, it became a smash hit and the Question was loyal to the MLA ever since.”
Meta Ability: Inquisition - Can force a person to go mad with questions about their own existence.
Fury

“A heteromorphic woman that received the brunt of both ends of discrimination for her looks. Both from those who despised her appearance, and those who thought of her as ‘exotic’ and a prize to show off. Filled with rage against the current status quo for this, she joined the MLA for finally payback such actions. Fury runs a shelter for unhoused Heteromorphs who can’t find accommodation easily.”
Meta Ability: Shell Hair - Can use her hair as a shield or as sharp weapons to attack.
Disgustus

“Of the Heteromorphic Trio of the Spinner’s advisors, Disgustus, as per his name, holds the most bitterness towards society. Similar to Spinner, he had to deal with harassment and assault by non-heteromorphs, and has become filled with vengeance and hatred because of it. Naturally, he found his home in the MLA as it was his best chance at rectifying such an issue. An eloquent speaker, he has the best persuasion skills of his trio, which serves well for his job maintaining a church.”
Meta Ability: Spider - Does whatever a spider can.
Joy

“Like with Fury and Disgustus he was also a victim of Heteromorphic discrimination and often thought to be stupid for his passiveness. However, Joy is a big believer of being subtle with intent and purpose: until it’s too late for your enemies. As such, he fits right alongside the shadow organization of the PLF. His base is a recreational center for the youth of Heteromorphs.”
Meta Ability: Size Increase - Can bloat or thin himself at will, and even down to specific body parts.

Problem Solved!!
Thank you @musntbill for figuring out my tech issues, we're back in business and loving it!
...actually, we're exhausted, but it's fine, we're fine.
Time to ramble about Clue! I'm gonna do a separate post for my OC rambles (not at all because I don't know who I'm gonna talk about yet XD)
As always, spoilers ahead and long unhinged rambling!
Clue is one of my favorite films of all time, so I'm gonna do a quick rundown of plot before we get into some of my thoughts, headcanons, and general musings.
Based on the titular board game, 1985's Clue is a comedy masterpiece. Relying more on character banter, slapstick comedy, and so much quotable dialogue, the mystery takes a bit of a back seat. Long story short (too late XD) the production of the film was all over the place, with a change in writers and behind-the-scenes folks that affected its release. However, they did try a really cool technique, which was giving the film three different endings. The goal was to get people to go to theaters multiple times in order to find all the endings.
It didn't work. At all. The film sort of bombed in the box office, but its charming nature has made it a cult classic over the years. DVD menus for the film give the option of watching one random ending or all three -- I experienced the one random ending before watching all three, and I like being able to have that option.
Anyway. The film follows the six recognizable characters from the game as they gather in a mansion for a dinner party they've been invited to. All of their names are aliases, and they aren't meant to find out each others' real identities. The butler, Wadsworth, orchestrates dinner, ensuring things run smoothly.
Wadsworth is my favorite character, and I'll chat about him more later, but his charming personality belies the vast amount of knowledge he seems to have about the circumstances of the evening. Even when Mr. Boddy, the supposed host of the evening, arrives, it is Wadsworth who directs exactly what is to happen. He's even the one who has all the secrets the others are keeping, the reason they're all gathered together. Mr. Boddy has been blackmailing the six guests, an easy enough task in 1954, which is when the film is set. The night is meant to end the blackmail, according to Wadsworth later, and it certainly does.
With murder.
As unexpected guests visit the house and the bodies pile up, the characters... bond?... over the process of solving the mystery and the suspicion they have of each other.
The film does deserve some credit for the mystery it builds -- they do attempt to seed in clues throughout the movie to point to a specific ending. It does make things a bit confusing, at times, but it was definitely a cool attempt. Additionally, there is a "true" ending of the film that seems to make the most overall sense, although there are tons of people who have done deeper dives into the validity of each ending.
In the true ending, the one that I'll probably be discussing the most, it is revealed that each character except Mr. Green has committed one of the murders. This includes Wadsworth, who is revealed to be the real Mr. Boddy. Mr. Green shoots Wadsworth as the faux butler attempts to lock them all in and essentially do away with all of the evidence of his blackmail. Mr. Green, an FBI agent in disguise, is revealed to be the hero (and not the nervous, bumbling, wreck of a gay man he's been masquerading as all this time).
Yes, his secret is that he's gay, it was the fifties, I could go on a whole tangent about the Lavender Scare but I'm not going to.
Anyway! The more I watch the film (and I've lowkey probably watched it at least 100 times), the more it's clear that Wadsworth's true identity is right under the surface. He orchestrates the whole evening, corrects Mr. Boddy when the supposed "host" tries to escape the mansion by breaking a window (coming face to face with an attack dog), and knows about the secret passageways that Ms. Scarlet and Col. Mustard discover during their search of the house. He claims that the mansion belongs to a friend of his, and the first five minutes of the film show him driving up, so that might check out. But, it could also be his mansion. As he is, in fact, Mr. Boddy.
And! A scene I almost forgot to mention but love so much, is when Mr. Boddy presents the six weapons to the guests. After he's exposed as the blackmailer, he has a little monologue where he tries to convince them to kill... Wadsworth. He promises not to reveal their secrets if they go ahead and do away with the butler. Wadsworth, who I see as having a very carefully crafted persona, using his energy and charm to deflect suspicions, barely reacts to this request -- but he does. His eyes widen, just a little bit, just enough to show that he wasn't expecting Mr. Boddy to defect like this. He wasn't expecting betrayal. And when it's revealed that Mr. Boddy is the one who is dead, he actually seems relieved.
Another thing to note is that all of the unexpected guests to the house were actually called to go there by Wadsworth, to get them to "testify" against Mr. Boddy. None of these guests seem to be aware, necessarily, of the ruse -- they all seem to come in with genuine, authentic motives, and they make outbound calls to people expressing their surprise about being at the old mansion and running into familiar faces. Faces they are, of course, helping Mr. Boddy blackmail. They're informants, and Wadsworth is the one to call them together.
After Mr. Boddy's death, why not call these informers off? Sure, some of them might have been on the road already, but why not turn them away at the door? Unless Mr. Boddy wasn't actually dead, and he needed his loose ends all tied up.
All these gifs are so on-point, shoutout to all these creators cause these are amazing!!
I know I've basically just summarized the plot and not done any analysis, so let me... give an attempt, I'm so sorry.
One thing that I do appreciate is that the people who designed and decorated the set and all of that had a great attention to detail. The floor in the hallway are squares, like in the actual game, and if I'm not mistaken, the rooms are actually in the correct positions (with secret passages matching those included in the board game). The costume designs are marvelous -- no one matches the color scheme of their alias, but things like Mrs. Peacock's peacock pin on her dress give hints of each character's personality. Mrs. White wears funeral black, lending credence to the truth of her secret, that she has killed at least one of her late husbands.
The actors also do a great job -- by the time of the film, they had established their names in the world of comedy/film in general. Tim Curry, legend as he is, had done Rocky Horror Picture Show a decade earlier, Christopher Lloyd had been on Taxi (and would be in Back to the Future, released the same year as Clue), Eileen Brennan was in multiple parody detective films (like Murder by Death), and the list goes on. It was a powerhouse of comedy, and they all deliver beautifully on their characters. Surprisingly, there was very little ad-lib, with actors sticking precisely to the script.
Except for one instance that Madeline Kahn always had a different line for.
She's incredible, I love her so so much.
A really fun part of the film is when the group splits into pairs to search the house "for the killer." They all draw lots and all get unlucky, with one person in the pair getting stuck with someone they absolutely dislike. It makes for some really interesting scenes where body language and character analysis could run wild.
Do you... do you want me to do that? Let me know (and specify which character). Maybe I'll add it to a future poll.
What I will say, however, is that I both love the idea of a Wadsworth x Mrs. White pairing, as well as a Wadsworth x Mr. Green pairing. Especially knowing the fact that Mr. Green is an FBI agent looking to take down Mr. Boddy's blackmail empire -- does Wadsworth realize this at any point during the evening? Is that why, when re-enacting the evening, Wadsworth seems to pick on Mr. Green the whole time, pushing him around? Or is it a way of flirting??
So! That's my rambling about Clue. I honestly could probably say more? So if there's something specific you want me to focus on and pick apart, I totally will. I realize now that "analysis" of a film is way too broad a topic. I love this movie and I'm totally willing to share my thoughts, ideas, and knowledge about it.
If you read this entire rant, throw a magnifying glass in the comments/tags (is that an emoji? if not, a pawn will do, I suppose).
My OC rant will be posted soon, just gotta figure out which one I want to ramble about.
#mid-week marveling#clue 1985#analysis (sort of?)#mostly just me rambling to myself#enthusing over a 40-year-old movie#holy shit it really is 40 years old#oh my god i should throw a party#anyway unrelated#tune in next week for more nonsense i guess

The Quiet Flame Part 2: Healing
Pairing: David Howard Thornton/Nyx (OC)
Spring rolls in with warm winds and swollen clouds. Nyx gets a cat—sleek, black, with one bent ear. She names him Pepper. David is allergic but pretends he isn’t until she catches him sneezing into a sock in her bathroom.
“You don’t have to prove anything,” she tells him, handing him allergy meds and laughing for a full minute. It’s one of those moments that feels normal, beautifully so. She lets herself sit in it. They go out more. Farmer’s markets. Open mic nights. Once, she reads one of her poems on stage—about darkness, and how it can sometimes cradle you instead of swallow you whole. David watches from the front row, every breath held like glass.
Afterward, when they walk to the car under flickering streetlamps, she says, “I almost didn’t go up.”
“I’m glad you did,” he says.
She touches his wrist. “It’s the first time I said the word ‘abuse’ out loud. Not in therapy. Not as a secret. Just… out. To strangers.”
He wants to say he’s proud of her. Wants to lift her up, spin her like a rom-com hero. But instead he just nods, and says, “You were brave. And brilliant.”
That’s enough.
Summer is harder. The trial begins. Her ex pleads not guilty. She has to testify. She stands in front of a room full of strangers, lawyers, judges, his family glaring, and tells them about the nights he shoved her into walls, the broken ribs, the threats. David sits in the gallery. He can’t touch her, can’t hold her, but she looks at him every time her voice wavers. His steady gaze keeps her afloat. Afterward, she throws up in the courthouse bathroom. When the verdict comes—guilty on all counts—she doesn’t cry. Not until they get back to the car, and she climbs into his lap and shudders silently against his chest, releasing years of breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
In August, they go to Dragon Con. She cosplays for the first time—a gender-swapped Freddy Krueger with a painted claw glove. David is wearing a subtle Art-themed hoodie, trying to go unnoticed. It doesn’t work. Fans flock to him. She stands behind the table sometimes, scribbling little doodles on the backs of headshots. One girl recognizes her.
“Are you his girlfriend?” the girl asks, starstruck.
Nyx hesitates. Then, “Yeah. I am.”
The girl giggles and runs off.
David’s face is pink when she turns back to him. “You said it.”
“I did,” she says. “I meant it.”
That night in the hotel room, she touches his face with both hands and whispers, “You’ve never made me feel owned.”
“I never want to,” he murmurs back. “You’re not a possession. You’re… you.”
He asks once if she wants to go to therapy with him. Not because there’s something wrong. But because he wants to be better for her. To understand. She agrees. They sit in a room with pale blue walls and talk about touch—how sometimes it’s still hard for her, how sometimes she feels guilty for flinching.
“You don’t have to apologize,” David says.
“I know. But I want to,” she replies. They talk about love as a language. How his is words and patience. How hers is silence and survival.
“It still counts,” the therapist says. “Even when it’s quiet, it’s still love.”
By winter, she’s painting murals. Local cafés. Bookstores. She’s no longer hiding behind sleeves or aliases. Her name is Nyx now, legally. She changed it on her ID. Burned the old one in a firepit out back. David was there. They toasted marshmallows over the ashes. One night in December, she takes him to the mural she painted on the side of the women’s shelter that helped her after she ran. It’s a pair of hands—not grabbing, not restraining. Just open. Offering. One hand is colored in soft stormy hues. The other is drawn in firelight tones. In the background is a crescent moon. He knows instantly: it’s them.
“You saved me,” she says.
He shakes his head. “You saved yourself.”
“I chose to save myself because you showed me I could.”
It happens at a con in San Diego. They’re mid-panel, talking about horror and performance and improvisation, when someone in the audience asks David, “What’s the scariest moment of your life?”
He pauses. Looks at Nyx, sitting in the front row with her sketchbook open on her knees.
“I used to think it was auditions,” he says. “Or working with prosthetics for twelve hours straight. But no. It was meeting someone who’d been through hell and not knowing if I was strong enough to be kind enough.” The room falls silent.
“I was terrified of saying the wrong thing. Of hurting her without meaning to. Of loving her too hard and pushing her away. But the truth is… she taught me how to show up. How to wait. How to be safe.”
His voice shakes a little.
“She taught me that gentleness can be the loudest thing in the world.”
That night, they sit on the balcony of their hotel, sharing a single cup of tea. Her fingers loop around his.
“You were afraid of loving me too hard?” she teases gently.
He laughs. “Yeah. But you let me learn.”
She leans into him. The lights of the city blur into something soft and golden.
“I’m not scared of you anymore,” she says. “And I don’t mean that in a romantic movie kind of way. I mean… you’re the first person who never made me flinch.” His lips press against her forehead. He doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t need to.
One year later
The bookstore hangs one of her paintings above the register. It’s a small, abstract thing—deep purples and soft whites, with a single flame in the center. David helps her frame it. When she steps back and looks at it for the first time in the proper light, she says:
“I’m still not whole.”
David slides his arm around her waist.
“That’s okay. I didn’t fall in love with someone who was whole. I fell in love with someone who was real.”
She smiles, tears caught in her lashes.
“I think I could love you forever.”
He kisses her knuckles. “Then let’s make ‘forever’ gentle.”
And this time, she doesn’t flinch at all.

Richard "Benjy" Parker II (AMAZING! Marvel AU)

Character art from Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 3 #12 (Marco Checchetto and Matthew Wilson)
"I said that exactly the way I was supposed to: I was direct, I was emphatic, I projected, my enunciation was clear… and I used declarative sentences."
Created By - Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, Mark Bagley (Benjy); Jonathan Hickman, Marco Checchetto (Richard)
First Appearance - Spider-Girl #59 (April. 2003, Benjy); Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 3 #1 (Jan. 2024, Richard)
Aliases - Benjy, Richie, "Spiderling"
Identity - No Dual
Status - Active
Bio
Richard "Benjy" Parker II is the son of Mary Jane Watson-Parker and Peter Parker, the retired (mostly) superhero known as Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Benjy's life began with a tragedy. Through a series of traumatizing events, the Parker family was mercilessly attacked by the Carnage symbiote and Benjy was forcefully bonded to it when he was just 4 years old. Through the use of a sonic device activated by his sister they managed to unbind the two of them, but not without lasting consequences: Benjy suffered permanent hearing damage, while his sister was left with massive guilt and a traumatic phobia of symbiotes.
As the son of a superhero born without powers and growing up with a disability, Benjy felt a desire to help improve the world and to prove himself worthy of his dad's legacy from a young age, in his case through his incredible smarts. Benjy showed a natural aptitude for science and technology far beyond his peers and even Peter at his age, as well as a love for books and everything geek. However, that came with loneliness and isolation at school as Benjy couldn't really relate to people his age and he disliked those who wanted to be close to him solely because of his father.
Peter saw in his son a mirror of his younger years at school and, after some advice from his wife and a talk with close friend Reed Richards, he enrolled Benjy into the Future Foundation program managed by the Fantastic Five (also known as the Richards' School for Gifted Youngsters). There, Peter and MJ hoped he would learn from the best of the best and be surrounded by kids sharing his potential, his interests and his passions.
Currently, Benjy spends his weeks attending the Future Foundation program being taught and coming up with solutions to the world's current problems together with the "Children of Tomorrow" (as Reed likes to call the kids). The Future Foundation boasts a variety of students from different cultures, outlooks and even planets, exposing Benjy to whole new worlds and ways of thinking, as well as new friends.
During his free time when he's not hanging out with his family, Benjy spends his time reading entire libraries' worth of books and aiding his sister with her little hero escapades (only because Benjy caught her in the act of sneaking out of the house and insisted he be allowed to help under threat of snitching).
A brilliant, introverted and bookish child, Benjy seeks to help the world and make his parents proud through his work with the Future Foundation and aiding his sister's super heroics as her "kid in the chair".

Powers and Abilities
Incredibly smart (even more than his dad was at 15) and has an almost intuitive understanding of technology and science
Excellent reader and chess player
Pretty good at building model airplanes
Talented game master of TTRPGS
Very good at signing and lip reading (to help compensate his partial deafness)
OOU Commentary
Richard/Benjy was a hard one, as there really isn't much of a base to go on in regards to canon. Benjy was a baby and doesn't do much except be mischievous with his organic webbing. On the other end, Richard DOES have more depth but Ultimate Spider-Man is still in its infancy so we haven't seen that much of him yet (though we will more now that he has taken prominence in the narrative).
I really like what I came up with still, and I'm probably gonna be adding/slightly modifying some stuff depending on how Richard develops in Ultimate Spider-Man and what stuff I want to take away from it for this AU.
Updates
5/20/2025 - Finalized the lineup of the Fantastic Four, now the Fantastic Five, updated group name accordingly.

Piper + TV Tropes
I gave in and made a TV Tropes page for Piper! I maybe had a little too much fun with this, kudos to anyone who actually reads this whole thing!
Awesome But Impractical: Piper’s signature armor makes for a very cool image and is characteristically beautiful…and also should probably not ever be worn into any actual battle. Even Piper admits it’s mostly for show.
Beautiful Singing Voice: As expected of a bard!
Becoming the Mask: At the start of her arc, Piper has stumbled into the Crusades and is treating her new leadership role as an act that she’s faking at. By the end of her arc, she’s fully stepped into the role and is much more comfortable with her position.
Befriending the Enemy: A natural result of Piper’s preference for settling issues through words rather than combat. Whether it comes from an earnest desire to become friends or is simply the more convenient option can be up for debate.
Butterfly of Transformation: Being an Azata, butterflies are one of Piper’s recurring motifs. Their significance in her aesthetic becomes more prominent as she embraces her Azata powers, a process which involves undertaking acts of altruism and courage which she would have originally avoided.
Con Artist: One of the ways in which Piper made her living before the Crusades. She still has shades of this, especially when encouraged by Woljif.
Cowardly Lion: Piper self-describes herself as cowardly and selfish, and she actively avoids confrontations whenever she can. Still, when push comes to shove and she sees people in danger, she does (usually) end up trying to help.
Distracted By Luxury: The gifts and financial security handed out by Eliyen keep Piper from seeing her true colors for longer than she likes to admit.
Dragon Rider: Piper becomes this, once Aivi grows enough.
Everything’s Better With Rainbows: The Azata motto!
Flower Motif: Another trademark of the Azata, with Elysium blooms appearing where Piper uses her powers. Forget-me-nots, lavender, and irises are also significant motifs for Piper.
Friend to All Living Things: Subverted. Piper’s Azata powers cause her to attract adorable woodland critters to her side…much to her dismay, as she’s not any more of an animal person than she was before, and she’d really prefer the rabbits and bluebirds stay outdoors.
Girl Of My Dreams: Arueshalae initially appears to Piper as a voice in her dreams.
Green Thumb: Of the magical variety- one of Piper’s most prominent Azata powers is the ability to bring growth back to places made corrupted and barren by the Worldwound.
Gold Digger: According to Eliyen’s side of the story, all the conflict between her and Piper was due to Piper only caring about her riches.
Guile Hero: Piper’s greatest strength is easily her charisma, as she relies greatly upon persuasion and diplomacy to meet her needs and maneuver solutions to problems that she can’t meet head-on.
Hidden Depths: At first glance, Piper is often dismissed as being shallow and frivolous, and even those who like her tend to see her as very lighthearted and flighty. Once people get to know her, however, she’s shown to be quite thoughtful and deliberate, and far more perceptive than people realize.
Hope Bringer: The reason Piper is given the title of Knight-Commander. Her powers give the Crusades an advantage they haven’t had in ages, and this combined with her ability to heal Worldwound corruption quickly leads people to rally around her. This is emphasized even further by her songs and speeches, which are very often geared toward providing hope and inspiration.
I Have Many Names: “Piper” is really just the latest in a long line of aliases she’s used in different cities throughout Mendev. If she were to list every name she’s ever gone by, we’d be here all day.
I Just Want to Be Loved: Part of the reason Piper enjoys performing so much is due to the rush of admiration she earns from her audience; ultimately, however, she really does long to be sincerely loved by someone who sees her as she really is.
Just Like Robin Hood: Piper had fantasies of being a Robin Hood type once, though it didn’t quite work out and she now claims to view the whole idea as idealistic and naïve.
Like Mother Like Daughter: Piper and her mother are both performers searching for their audience, hoping to find their fortune; both are somewhat flighty and have complicated relationships with commitment; both leave their family and home behind on impulse. Piper is aware of the similarities, though she doesn’t like to dwell on it.
Like Brother and Sister: With Woljif. They even call each other “Little Brother” and “Little Sister” in a joking callback to thiefling customs.
Magic Flutist: Piper’s specialty, though as a bard she has an array of Magic Music related talents.
Manipulative Bastard: She has shades of this, and in a Companion AU can be pushed further into the role if the Commander is unsupportive of her or encourages her more selfish tendencies.
Meaningful Name: Piper is a talented flutist with a talent for charming people. The meaning behind the name is no accident, seeing as she chose it herself.
Mysterious Past: She has a long and storied past, and if asked about it is just as likely to make up lies as she is to say something truthful.
Mystical White Hair: Self-explanatory, though among tieflings the color is not so uncommon.
Proud Beauty: Piper’s quite aware of how attractive she is to others, and isn’t shy about flaunting it.
Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Free Crusaders are a perfect example of this, and Piper is willing to accept any additional misfits who want to join.
Replacement Goldfish: How Piper believes Areelu views her. Whether she’s correct in this assessment is up to interpretation.
Serenade Your Lover: Piper’s go-to move when wooing someone she’s interested in. Arueshalae gets more than a few songs dedicated to her.
Shipper on Deck: Aivu is a very enthusiastic supporter of Arueshalae and Piper. Desna also qualifies as this, though she’s a bit more subtle.
Statuesque Stunner: Piper’s naturally tall, and she has horns, and she likes to wear heels.
Street Smart: Self-explanatory, and goes hand-in-hand with her Con Artist and Guile Hero tendencies.
The Charmer: Piper’s no stranger to winning people over with her charms, and definitely has a reputation as a flirt.
The Circus Runaway: The first time Piper ever left home was to join a traveling carnival with the aim of learning from their resident bard. She’s played many different roles since then, but she still remembers that time fondly.
The Power of Acting: She didn’t get a deception skill that high for nothing!
Tomboy and Girly Girl: Piper and Seelah. One is a dependable, action-oriented warrior who likes to tackle problems directly; the other is a flighty, dress-wearing bard who depends on her wit and her charms. Despite their differences, they become friends almost immediately.
Vitriolic Best Buds: With Daeran. They start off genuinely disliking one another, and though their relationship improves with time they never do stop snipping at each other.
Wandering Minstrel: Piper’s career, for lack of a better word, before joining the Crusades.
Weak But Skilled: Piper has many talents relating to diplomacy and magic, but combat is not one of her strong suits. She does get better after multiclassing as a rogue, but she’s still far from a physical powerhouse.
Will They Won’t They: With Galfrey, for a short while. (They don’t).
#tv tropes#ch: piper#I have such a love hate relationship with tv tropes#but it is very addictive#pwotr#octropes
