Bio Dad Danny!
Part 3 Everybody! And Happy new year!
When Danny got back from the summoning he immediately started shutting down anyway for cultists to get his summoning in this universe, and with that out of the way went back to how life was before the now known dub "summoning", he still had to take summonings from other universes but he always left Fright Night to babysit and surprising enough Conner wasn't Frightened by the Halloween Ghost, he hopes that the Justice League (he had to look up their name) would only use his personal summoning for emergencies (and always away from Conner).
Conner's first birthday was coming up and Danny already had Dani and Dan coming over for the day plus Dan said he was bringing Clockwork to introduce the baby to him. So Danny went out as usual with Conner to go get the Cake for the next day it was a little bakery only a 30 min walk from his place, it was good exercise if anything. But of course there had to be another subpar villain causing trouble seems to be one of Superman's if him being there was any consolation.
So Danny tried hurrying to the Bakery but before he could a green rock landed near them, Conner immediately started crying and squirming in his baby wrap, while Danny was strict with the soul crushing sadness and pain that came from the rock, he lands on his knees hunched over Conner he tried to back the tears in his eyes, his face rigid with focus that he had to get away from the thing causing them pain, then all of a sudden he was picked up and dropped off far away from the fight with a group of people by the Flash.
Glad to be away from the stone, Danny put his focus on calming down Conner by cooling his fingers and letting the baby bite on them, what Danny hadn't noticed was that the Flash saw how they reacted to the Kryptonite and the relief when they were away from it, but flash wasn't done helping People to safer zones so he continued till the Fight was over but by the time they were done and he went to go check with the black haired man with his child they were gone. Flash then had to question, was Superman the last Kryptonian?
Danny upon getting back to his apartment held his breath momentarily cuddling close with Conner trying to rid the last of the feeling of what he now realizes was the death of planet and it's civilization. "I guess we'll have to get you your birthday cake tomorrow, huh, bud?" Danny looked adoring at his child.

Ok so y'all've likely hear of the whole "kryptonite is hardened ectoplasm" thing (which can def make sense considering it's made from all the death having seeped into the now destroyed krypton if that one little snippet of information was telling the truth and I'm remembering it right) and I bring you:
Ghosts not only eat kryptonite but there's also a subsection species that actively lived on/visited krypton pre-nonexistence to hunt kryptonions and that's why kryptonions are so invulnerable and have all the powers that they have. Its how they evolved to withstand their predators (ghosts).
So like, imagine if Clark and Kara both get an intense prey-reaction of they ever meet Danny. And maybe Jon and Kon both get really anxious but it's less so than full kryptonions! And really Clark wouldn't know why he's so terrified of a teen that doesn't even reach his shoulders unless he asks The Fortress or Kara tells him. Maybe even Danny doesn't know and sometimes gets the urge to chase down a Super or automatically focuses on any of them when in the same room–never looking away from his prey the Super the entire time.
Idk I just think it'd be neat!

For your random fun one shot
There's a fruit out there called Synsepalum dulcificum(aka miracle berry) that messes with the taste receptors(sour things taste sweet etc). Ectoplasm has a similar effect(for the purpose of the prompt that is, idk if it actually does).
So danny (either as Danny or as phantom)does shots of ectoplasm and tries a bunch of other heroes' favorite foods(starfire's cooking, red robin's and or oracle's caffeine abomination, random leftovers in the fridge, etc) and live streams it for charity while answering fan sent questions.
But then one of the flashes knocks over his shot glass while running by and all the food becomes animated and there's an epic food fight in whichever cafeteria he's in
enjoy a taste of chaos >:))))
Danny’s taste was a little fucked, he would be the first to tell you. There was this thing with ectoplasm that made his taste receptors just a bit different anytime he drank some. And because of this, his favorite thing was grossing out his Titans team mates any chance he could. The team had just as much fun as he did and it was technically Impulse’s idea to do this new tik tok series to introduce himself to the world as the newest member of the Titans.
So, here he was, sitting at the break room table in the tower with vials of ectoplasm and the most fucked up foods his team could think of sitting before him.
There was a cake baked by Miss Martian that Superboy had winced at. A veggie lasagna made by Beast Boy that Nightwing eyed warily. A strange coffee and energy drink combination courtesy of Red Robin. Some kind of casserole that Stafire had excitedly made, and a random assortment of the weirdest snacks that Impulse could find. The entire team was now watching in horror as Danny took a shot of ectoplasm and looked over the terrifying arrangement of food in front of him.
“This feels like a fucked up mukbang,” Danny said with an amused smile.
Red Robin snickered from behind his phone. “What are you going to try first, Phantom? Everyone in the live are making bets on what you’re going to eat first.”
“Are we sure this isn’t going to kill him?” Superboy asked worriedly.
“I’m already dead,” Danny said with a shrug. His teammates all gave him that same look of horror they did any time Danny reminded them all of his mortality. He supposed it was easy for them to forget that Danny was a ghost when the only other ghost they really knew about was Deadman and they were two completely different types of ghosts.
Not only that, but Danny still hadn’t mentioned to any of his teammates that he was only half dead. He had yet to reveal his secret identity to any of them. He had only been a member of the team for about a month and none of them had shared their identities with him so it was only fair that he didn’t share that part of himself with them yet either.
“Oh right,” Nightwing said faintly, that look of horror still on his face.
Danny just gave them a sharp, fanged smile and grabbed the first thing on his tray. A small rock of kryptonite. He supposed it made sense to eat that first considering Superboy was looking sicker and sicker the longer they sat there.
“Are you sure it’s fine for you to ingest kryptonite?” Wondergirl asked, looking a little uneasy.
“Of course, my body breaks it down just like it does human food. It’s all just turned into ectoplasm and energy,” Danny said before popping the rock in his mouth and crunching on it like it was just a piece of bright green rock candy.
He crinkled his nose at the taste, it was almost like eating pure sugar, it kinda made his teeth hurt. The same way it did when he was a kid and got his first cavity.
“Well?” Impulse asked, practically vibrating with excitement. “Is it everything I imagine kryptonite tastes like?”
Danny snorted. “It tastes like I’m eating pure sugar,” he said before drinking another vial of ectoplasm.
“That’s so crash!” Impulse shouted, slinging his hands out in excitement as he did. The following events were like slow motion.
Impulse’s hand knocked straight into the tray of ectoplasm vials that seemed to scatter across the table, hitting each fucked up and questionable piece of food or drink on the small table.
From there chaos just simply erupted. Danny braced himself as the pieces of food started to slowly but surely float off of the table, the coffee-energy drink began to take form and create a small fizzy, coffee scented blob ghost that careened straight towards Impulse’s face.
The veggie lasagna quickly grew pinsharp fangs that it gnashed and chomped at Beast Boy, loud screeches coming from its body.
“Oh no,” Danny said, his face pale beyond belief.
“Ph-phantom?” Nightwing stammered, his eyes wide with horror as the casserole that Starfire made started to slowly but surely inch its way towards the eldest hero.
“Red Robin, end the livestream,” Danny hissed as an ectoblast started to form in his hand, his other hand inched towards the thermos that he kept at his hip.
“But-” Red Robin let out a screech as Impulse tackled him just before a random giant pretzel launched itself at the vigilante.
“End the livestream!” Superboy screeched as he shot lasers at the hurtling ball of cabbage that had launched itself at the hero like a cannonball.
“I’m not ending the livestream! We just got so many more viewers joining!” Red Robin shouted back as he started fighting back the chips that were now being flung his way.
“Brace yourselves!” Wondergirl yelled as jello slung itself around the room. Danny just let out a groan as he started shooting ectoblasts, doing his best to subdue the ecto infused food.
He was never letting his team convince him into bringing out the ectoplasm again. This was the worst idea they had ever had.

Ectoradium and Kryptonite are eerily similar. They look the same and feel the same to their respective races (ghosts + Kryptonians) and almost nobody can tell them apart, barring experts in the fields (Fentons or Lex Luthor). Except the fact that Ectoradium is Kryptonite with ectoplasm contamination.
One day, Superman is affected by Ectoradium. But here’s the thing that surprises him—the teen nearby also is affected by the ‘kryptonite’ and Clark thinks that he’s stumbled onto another Kryptonian.

ectoberhaunt2023 day 22-portal shenanigans TW- none summary- Danny gets flung int the DCU and decides to become a villain
ao3 ectoberhaunt masterlist part 1 of TCAB
Danny was feeling so done with Clockwork right now. All Danny had said was that he wanted a break from his kingly duties. Clockwork had told him to come to the Long Now. And okay. Danny could admit that he should have been more suspicious or at least cautious. But still!
Wanting a break was not the same as having Clockwork toss him through a random portal where he’d be able to ‘destress.’ This was the opposite of destressing and Danny would make sure Clockwork knew it when the old clock decided to let him go back.
Danny sighed. He didn’t even know where he was. What was he even supposed to do?
He was in some kind of large city and he remembered Clockwork saying something about superheroes before yeeting Danny through the portal.
What superheroes lived here Danny had no idea, and honestly, he didn’t really care enough to find out.
Maybe Danny though, since there were already heroes here, Danny could be a villain.
Yes, that was a brilliant idea. Danny grinned, aware that his smile was stretching too wide for his face.
But what to do, what to do.
He obviously didn’t want to be a terrible, no good, very bad villain. He didn’t want to kill people or steal from people who were struggling. So obviously he just had to steal from the rich.
And how convenient. That was definitely a skyscraper over there.
Danny flew in that direction not caring enough to read the name on the side of the building.
He arrived invisibly and used his intangibility to fly down to the deepest level. The most interesting things were always hidden in the basement. Danny would know. They had a ghost portal in theirs and Vlad had a creepy lab in his.
And ohhh!!!! Those were some shiny rocks. They looked like ectoplasm but solid. He wondered…
Danny flew forward and grabbed as many as he could carry, stuffing the rest into one of his pocket dimensions. Pocket dimensions were a very nice perk of being the Ancient of Space, if only he had inherited the power of remembering where he put things. Oh well. He’d find them eventually.
Danny carried out five pieces with him as he flew up through the building. He’d only just gotten outside when someone loudly and sanctimoniously proclaimed, “Halt.”
Danny paused and took in the sight of a man dressed in blue and wearing red underwear over his clothing.
“Dude, you look so cringy.” Was that mean? Oh well. It’s not like Danny would be in this dimension very long.
The man gaped at him and then narrowed his eyes when he saw what Danny was carrying. Then he flew farther backwards.
“Drop the Kryptonite.”
Was that what this was? “Finders keepers.”
“Kid, leave the Kryptonite and we can talk.”
“Why would I want to talk with you?”
The man’s expression hardened and Danny grinned.
“Are they yours?” Danny asked.
“Listen, it’s extremely dangerous. So, you need to put them down.”
Danny frowned. “These things aren’t dangerous. See?” Danny said and stuck one in his mouth. It tasted kind of tangy but also sweet. It was actually pretty good. He popped the other two into his mouth and the older man gaped at him.
“What did you do!”
Danny laughed maniacally like all the good villains do. “You will neer get your shiny rocks back.” Danny laughed again before going invisible and flying away, stifling his laughter behind his hands.
This was actually pretty fun. Maybe Clockwork was onto something.

Dc X Dp Headcanon - Kryptonite
What if kryptonite in these kinds of crossovers wasn’t ghost candy?
Kryptonite was formed from the death energy of a planets worth of in an instant. It’s formation is unique due to the number of deaths involved in its creation, the stressors the ectoplasm was exposed to after the planet blew up, and just how much agony and sorrow it contains within even the tiniest piece.
In every piece of Kryptonite from the largest to the smallest there are countless echos wailing in wordless sorrow, screaming in a cacophony of anger, or in some combination of the two. The reason why the only members of the living that are effected by kryptonite is Kryptonians is due to the echoes extreme jealousy that they got to escape, that they got to live while none of them got that luxury. So they inflict every ounce of their suffering, every single thing they felt when they died, on those who dared to escape and this is the canonical result to kryptonite we see in kryptonians. The echoes miss the other members of the living because they aren’t liminal enough for them to touch. Living kryptonians are similar enough that they don’t have this protection.
Ghosts are also negatively effected by kryptonite, but not anywhere near the same level as kryptonians. Whenever a ghost gets too close to a chunk of kryptonite, all they can hear are the screams. A weaker ghost will be forced to make a new path due to the strength behind the screaming because it is just too painful, while stronger ghosts can push through it if absolutely necessary but it won’t be pleasant. The ghosts also aren’t entirely sure whether kryptonite is made of just echoes like what can happen with condensed ectoplasm but gone weird, or if the extreme disaster of the death of kryptonite captured the souls of its dead and melted them down into these crystals of pain. No one is willing to find out either.
Liminal when exposed to kryptonite will not experience pain like ghosts and kryptonians, but they do get something. They do hear the screams that kryptonians don’t hear while ghosts do, but it is muted. The amount of liminality a person has determines how loud the kryptonite is from a barely there whisper to a conversational level. Liminals also can sense that there is something deeply wrong with kryptonite whenever they are around it. How we, the average liminal who would be exposed to kryptonite would ignore these symptoms as unnecessary paranoia instead of them being able to see beyond the norm.
There is no such thing as true synthetic kryptonite. All of the human researchers thinking it is just another crystal and trying to replicate it are missing a n important part of the process. Earth has plenty of ectoplasm form them to shape into a crystal, but the researchers don’t have the necessary amount of deaths in the proper way to make it. So every type of kryptonite they do make had the fun combination of whatever overpowering thought they had while trying to make it combined with the intent for it to only work on kryptonians. Without this second but their synthetic “kryptonite” would work just as well on humans, but since all the people making it want to just hurt/affect kryptonians, that is the only group it works on. This is where all other kryptonite colors comes from. True kryptonite can’t change color and green kryptonite cannot be reproduced.

DP x DC Smallville
Okay, I've been forming this theory for a while now, but this scene just cemented it:
The bottom of her boots? Fenton F??? There is no way you can't tell me those aren't Fenton-grade boots!
Hear me out. I have other evidence.
The principal in season 1 is a man of Asian decent named Kwan. Who else do we know named Kwan?
And to top it off, Smallville's Kwan has a son named Danny. Now obviously, his son isn't Fenton/Phantom, BUT assuming at least the class and maybe the entire town of Amity Park learns Danny's secret, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary that some of his classmates grow up and name a child after their town hero. Even if they never learn Danny's secret, Danny Fenton himself did lead the entire class against Ember and Youngblood, as well as exhibited other noble qualities, so it's not out of the question that at least one of his classmates had a child whom they named 'Danny'.
2. As discussed in this post, the whole 'Kryptonite-is-crystalized-Ectoplasm' theory. Now some of the more meticulous (me) might be wondering, 'if this theory holds up and Kryptonite-Ectoplasm is giving random people in Smallville super/ghost powers, then why didn't Amity Park have the same activity?' Why thank you, Skeptical Voice In My Head! I'll tell you why. First of all, Smallville has had 12 years-worth of exposure to the Kryptonite-Ectoplasm, that's why! During the course of Danny Phantom's runtime we only get to see ~1 year pass. 2 if we're being generous. In addition, despite having a literal portal to Hell the Infinite Realms open basically 24/7 in the town, along with near-daily/hourly ghost attacks, the citizens of Amity Park themselves do not seem to regularly come into contact with any form of Ectoplasm. Unlike in Smallville, where people are handling the stuff almost daily - hell, dozens of people just casually wear it as jewelry, and I guarantee more than 1 person has at least a meteorite rock or 2 in their home, as a keepsake. There is also a potential argument to be made about crystalized Ectoplasm-Kryptonite being more potent than the ambient radiation/gas/liquid stuff we see in Amity Park.
3. There is literally a canonical town near Smallville called Amityville. Enough said.
4. Which brings us to number 4. The Boots.
I propose that it is highly likely that Danny's class grew up through the events of Danny Phantom (sin Phantom Planet), and that Smallville takes place somewhere around ~25 years after the Portal opens. Kwan grew up to be a teacher, then principal, and named his son after Danny (whether he knew Danny's secret or not). Fenton Works continued on in some capacity, whether it's still the Dr's Fenton going at it or if Danny/Jazz inherited the family business, and at some point made a line of Fenton-grade combat boots. Heck, maybe Sam had a say in their design (it is the kind of thing she'd wear).
In addition, if this is ~25 years later, then Amity Park would be full of Liminals right now - probably keeping their nature on the down-low so the rest of the world doesn't know, or being held under a Team Phantom (Foley/Fenton/Technus) or GIW-mandated blackout. Either way, the general world knows Amity ParkVille exists, but not that Liminals live there (unlive?).
And because their exposure to Ectoplasm was much more gradual and they would have had enough cultural exposure to ghosts, they would adapt to their newfound Liminality powers much more effectively than the poor flash-exposured citizens of Smallville who end up insane because they can't handle the sudden influx of power they're granted. The citizens of Amity Park have the tech and know-how to deal with weird ectoplasm-induced ghost powers. They've seen and interacted with enough ghosts that the idea of Obsessions/Purposes/insert-headcanon-here isn't far-fetched and they'd know how to deal with it in a slightly more constructive way (or at least, be able to handle the ghostly aggression that Liminals seem to have, if Smallville is any indication).
SO, In Conclusion, Danny Phantom's Amity Park and Smallville are in the same universe, albeit DP is ~25 years ahead of Smallville's setting.
Just Saying.
#smallville#superman#dpxdc#amity park is amityville#and smallville and amityville are near each other#just saying#the POTENTIAL#THINK ABOUT IT!!!!#this could also lean into the 'Phantom was the First Hero' AU#wow this post was much longer than I thought it'd be#whoopsies!#time to go actually finish that episode now.....

@theobliviousshipper in the tags mentioned someone finding out sooner.
Clark. 100% Clark does.
Midwestern raised boy 100% has helped neighbours and all with their random errands and cravings when growing up cause neighbouring farms usually needed helped if half of the main workers(cause most do the work themselves) were out of commission due to pregnancy.
And you bet Ma and Pa Kent taught him well.
But also, Bruce. He's Def going to notice and put two and two together. He'd definitely look into stuff to make sure his kids are healthy, and you know Alfred taught him well.
I also like the idea of trans Bruce and Talia just did the generic cloning version of child which is why he wasn't aware of Damian's existence. So he knows the signs for himself just in case. Always prepared.
So they both notice, and both go Dad Mode™
It was simple at first. Just occasionally catching Phantom rubbing at his hips, even when he'd not gotten into a fight.
Or the change in uniform. At first it wasn't thought much of. He'd had the same uniform for years apparently, one was entitled to a uniform change, though the tunic look, going a mix of medieval and futuristic at the same time was a surprise. It had less definition given to his form but also fit him. Clark had heard the younger hero talking with the YJL group about it.
Then, more so almost slipping under the radar because it was months later instead of weeks, he started eating... Not so much weird stuff, but weirder for him.
Things like lessening the energy drinks and coffee, but drinking more of his 'Thermos Goop' as he called it, and eating various coloured, what Clark at first thought was rock candy, rocks.
Including one memorable incident when, after a fight with Lex ended with them confiscating Kryptonite, the young adult was found eating it like it was candy. Which to ghosts, it apparently was. It still shook him to see Phantom putting barbeque sauce on it though.
Bruce noticed the odd...disappearances of things. One of his spare cloaks, and Clarks as well. Flash's old uniform shirt, damaged in a mission and not fixed yet. Diana's scarf she left once after a battle.
Little things here and there. No one saw him of course. And if something was mentioned missing and needed, it always showed back up, so it wasn't a problem, but Bruce still noticed.
This all spread over a year.
It ended up with a final;
"Oh hey, you're finally putting some weight on! Good, you were skinny as a rail when you first started here!"
From Supergirl that had Bruce-and eventually Clark, who noticed him doing so-writing the list of noticed irregularities down before they, with hesitance because it wasn't something to do lightly, approached Constantine-after initially asking Zantana first only to be told he knew more about the beings of the Infinite Realms-for information on ecto-biology, before they put two and two together.
And it was completely on accident.
"Well yeah, some of them are from living folks when they pass away with the right circumstance, but a good portion are born or created naturally. Takes years though, usually 4-5 earth years either way. Former-Living need enough ectoplasm around them when they die, and usually a strong conviction. Born either are embodiments of concepts like Time, Nature, Sleep, etc, or they're formed from cores from already Alive, only word for it in this case, Ecto-entities, and kinda carried like a pregnancy, only the cores form first and get absorbed into the parent until they're strong enough to be born. Heard it takes days for that too."
So if ghosts can revert into their core, what if Dani did when she was destabilizing?
What if cores needed a safe resting place with access to ectoplasm? And it's instinct for ghosts to protect and nurture cores. As they're very vulnerable.
Danny acting on instinct absorbs the core or cores??(other clones?) into his body. To keep them safe.
So he carries these cores around until they mature and are stable enough to take form.
However, this takes time, like years.
So I propose. Newest JL member Danny Phantom just suddenly gasping and keeling over in the middle of a meeting or fight??
JL members start panicking. Like wtf?? What's wrong with Phantom? An attack? Is he hurt?
Phantom just sits up and continues the meeting or fight like normal until it happens again and they're like " Are you hurt? Poisoned? What is it!"
Danny just shrugs and goes " It's fine, just contractions".
"Contractions?..."
"Yeah! They suck, but I'm glad they'll be here soon. It's been like 4 years".
Just the JL or whoever panicking and being super protective over there newest and youngest member, who, through a series of misunderstandings, thinks Phantoms been knocked up for 4 years by his arch nemesis.

So fanon agrees that ectoplasm is the next evolution of tech security - and that it tends to make things sentient. Tucker would be such an invasive species in the dcu. Red tornado obsessed with understanding human emotions? Try using this ecto battery. Same trick gives AMAZO danny's hero/protection obsession (danny charged those batteries). Tucker just casually reprogramming the scarab to disconnect it from the reach. Idk probably a million other things tucker could accidentally on purpose fix.
Calling Tucker an invasive species isn’t something I expected to read today but it brings me so much joy.
Having Ecto-technology simply be a catch-all for every single tech issue is fucking hilarious. Fatherbox corrupting Cyborg? Reserve engineered Ecto-box. Superman unable to defeat Metallo? EctoShield that covers Superman in a thin ectoplasm film and stops Kryptonite radiation. Memory loss? Ecto-tech shot.
Tucker simply solving almost every possible issue in DC with Ecto Technology. Make it happen.

I know Phantom Planet is...spicy in this fandom but something just occurred to me. A glowing green meteor that harms ghosts came from space. Kryptonite, a glowing green rock that can also be many colors came from SPACE.
Like what's the inverse thing for that? A freak coincidence? Or is there some connection?
If Clark touched Ectoranium, would it hurt him too? Or would Danny touching Kryptonite hurt him?
I remember making that connection when i was a kid when i first saw Phantom Planet. (Least favorite episode EVER)
I don’t know enough lore of Kryptonite to really say anything about it in comparison to Ectoranium but i feel they would have the same radiation effects due to long exposure. Like in the Justice league cartoon Lex got cancer from carrying Kryptonite for so long just to keep Superman away. I feel like the same would happen with Ectoranium if someone had constant contact with it.
But an even better similarity that I found is the Phantom Zone and the Ghost Zone!
Like both are enter inter dimentional planes of existence where people exist (sort of). Like the Phantom Zone is a inter dimentional space prison that Khryptonians made to house the most dangerous criminals in existence (and just some guy named the Prankster who is just some dude that plays jokes to steal shit also Louis Lane from the future) where the Ghost Zone is the land of the dead and so on where ghosts just exist.
My theory is that the part of the Zone that is the Phantom Zone is an uninhabited part of the zone that is more purplely and has denser ectoplasm and its harder for both Ghosts and Living alike to navigate, doesn’t mean its impossible but most ghosts just don’t bother besides the few that are accustomed to it. I also like to think that when the Krypton’s started to use the infinite realms as a prison, whatever ghost in power—maybe the ancients because i feel Pariah was imprisoned before that—set some more barbaric and feral ghosts, like Behemoths to guard the border just so the humans imprisoned there wouldn’t try and cause any damage to the Zone as a whole.
Im currently writing a Brain Dead (Danny x Tim) fic where the JL think Danny is too much of a threat and try to lock him away in the Phantom Zone only for Danny to be like, “ha y’all thought!”

this has been on my mind for a bit
“I can’t believe I just gaslit my favorite body piercer for you.” Sam rolled her wrist, shaking the contents of her iced coffee before taking one long sip. “We’re close.”
“I mean, to be fair, I didn’t know that would happen.”
“Look, out of all parties here, you’re the one that should probably know the bells and whistles of your own super healing, Danny,” Sam pointed out. “I should have figured, but you really had no clue?”
“No! No I didn’t!” He groaned. “And I really wanted that piercing.”
Tucker, lounged in Danny’s beanbag chair, looked up from his DS. “You know, you can always get clip-ons.”
“Clip-ons,” he deadpanned.
Tucker pulled at his earlobes. “Yeah, clip-ons.” He pinched his ears. “Bam, problem solved. Earrings galore.”
“It’s not the same, Tuck,” Sam pointed out.
“Yeah, but what else is he gonna do? We saw it happen. Even if the needle goes through, his healing kicks in before they can even jab anything in there–”
“I wouldn’t say jab–”
“Whatever! You get what I mean!”
Danny rolled on his stomach and groaned again into his pillow.
“It’s just my fucking luck that I can’t do anything normal, huh,” he lamented.
Sam and Tucker exchanged worried looks. Before they could say anything, Danny’s bedroom door slammed open. Jack Fenton barreled into the room and raised a triumphant fist.
“Danno, you’ll never guess what! Your Mom and I just made a groundbreaking discovery.”
Danny didn’t bother rolling back onto his back. “Let me guess. You punched a hole into another dimension.”
“Even better! We discovered an element that seems to repel all ectoplasm. Seems like our probes into the Ghost Zone have been a worthy endeavor. Right now, our running name is Ectoranium, but I’m thinking something more like Kr-ecto-nite. Get it? Like Kryptonite, but for ghosts?”
If possible, Danny sagged even deeper into his bed. “Sounds great, Dad.”
“You kids should come down into the lab to see it–”
Tucker cleared his throat. “Hard pass, Dr. F. We’re working on some super important homework right now. Could take all night.”
Sam nodded. “It’s uh, fifty percent of our grade.”
“Ah, I see. Keep up the good work, kiddos! If you get done early, you know where to find us!”
Just as turbulent as he arrived, Jack bolted out the door and fled back to the lab. Tucker kicked out his foot to shut the door.
“Well,” he started, “that was uh, some news.”
Sam, against all reason, beamed. “I know! Isn’t it great!”
Danny lifted his head from his pillow and met her with a blank, confounded stare. “What.”
“The Ectoranium! It’s the answer.”
Tucker frowned. “Uh, I don’t know about you Sam but ghost kryptonite sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Especially since it’s yet another thing in this nightmare of a house that can hurt Danny.”
“Wait, nightmare is a strong word–”
“Shush, your house is a nightmare, Danny.”
“That is true,” Sam agreed, “but the Ectoranium repels ectoplasm, right? So, say you theoretically stabbed Danny with it. Would he heal?”
“Uh, probably not,” Danny said. “Why am I being stabbed in this scenario?”
“You can get your ears pierced! We can do it a la Parent Trap style, good old at-home piercing.”
“I don’t know, Sam,” Tucker said. “Isn’t that kind of risky? What if he gets some kind of ghost infection?”
Danny snorted. “I don’t think dead people get infections, Tucker.”
“We don’t know that!”
“I think it’s a safe bet,” Danny said. “I’m down if you are. My parents are going out tomorrow, something about petitioning for less stringent ecto-weapon regulations.”
Sam grinned. “Perfect. I’ll brush up on piercing tonight. Meet here at noon?”
“Sounds good.”
Tucker sighed. “And I’ll be here to film you dumbasses when something goes wrong.”
“Famous last words,” Danny laughed.

DPxIV: Viltrumite Kryptonite
You know what'd be interesting? A crossover between Danny Phantom & Invincible.
But imagine this. Viltrumites have a weakness. It's ghosts & anything to do with the spiritual aspect. The reason partly being that they never came into contact with the Infinite Realms on Viltrum. Natural portals, for whatever reason, don't open up there more than once every few thousand years, so they've never developed any sort of immunity to ectoplasm.
For more on portals & the GZ, see my post on it: Explaining the Ghost Zone
Because of this, they actually have a greater vulnerability to ectoplasm than any other sentient species in the universe.
Not to mention, they never made contact with ghosts of the Zone. The only ghosts they know of are basic Earthbound spirits & they're still largely considered myth, same as magic. It was only after coming into contact with other worlds that specialized in magic & whatnot (which, in itself, is pretty rare) that Viltrum actually learned anything about it.
However, knowledge of the Ghost Zone is actually an exclusively Earthling thing. No other species has done that. I mean, besides Viltrum, others have made some contact on occasion, but nowhere near what the Fentons have accomplished. Certainly not a direct freaking doorway to the Infinite Realms using science that anyone can just use, no questions.
Also, everything that makes Viltrumites so powerful is tied into their physical bodies. So should a Viltrumite ever become a ghost in the Zone, they're left to be just like every other ghost with the same basic level of strength & whatnot. Being a Viltrumite gives them absolutely no perks in death.
However, due to their actions in life, they become the target of those they've lead to extinction. Also, because of their species-wide belief that they are surperior, they tend to start fights that they can't win, then throw tantrums when they loose.
It's like watching giant, overpowered toddlers get stripped of their shiny toy.
Anyway, I have this image of Danny taking Omniman completely by surprise by, like, very seriously harming him with little to no effort.
He panics & runs like a bitch.
A side-note: Because Invincible was born & raised on Earth, which arguably gets the most natural portals in the universe, & is half-human, he's more adapted to it. Not as much as if he'd grown up in Amity, but enough to be comparable to 99.999% of other humans in terms of ecto-resistance.
Which, all things considered, is pretty damn good compared to most.
So, in this instance, it's the human half of Mark that gives him more of a quantifiable advantage & not his Viltrumite half.
Something that I find pleasantly ironic.

Not if you subscribe to the IR being where all afterlives exist, including Hell. In that case it would be soul < ghost < demon < Ancient/Ghost King
Being Ghost King implies he's in charge of all dead
And even if you don't subscribe to that, John probably sold his soul to Pariah Dark at some point, probably the easiest contract he's ever made, the guy was asleep, but now Danny's Ghost Kimg and he very much does not want to own a soul, please take it back which can then start the dominoes of the fic
Also, you have to understand that the DP fandom effectively sees canon as a suggestion, or at best a thing to twist and build off of. We kinda have to, the creator didn't put any effort into making the world make sense, it was up to us to fill in the gaps, which often means amplifying things. Like Danny hating clowns or occasionally condiments, that's pulling from some of the arguably most traumatic times in his life, but for the rest of the canon show he never has an issue with either one. Cores are mentioned literally once and make no sense in canon, the Ancients are mostly ghosts that don't fit simply because they're more concept than anything else (clockwork, vortex, undergrowth, nocturn). Liminals aren't canon. The world of Danny Phantom makes no sense, so we prop it up with fanon. And we do the same with any crossover we do. That's how you get the Pits being corrupted or stagnant ectoplasm, kryptonite being ghost candy, and yes, Danny hunting doen Constantine's contracts
I think why I’m annoyed by Danny coming around getting rid of Constantine’s “soul contracts” or collecting soul pieces and what have you fundamentally isn’t because it misunderstands how that works
It’s because it’s what makes him functionally immortal
WHY IS DANNY TRYING TO KILL THIS RANDOM MAN??
#we see canon as a suggestion#and sometimes that means disregarding certain parts of canon#like Clark's issues with clones#most of us know Clark's issue was more a matter of suddenly having a kid that he never consented to or even did anything that could leas to#but neither did Danny#and with his reaction to Dani being so vastly different to Clark's#it's no surprise we'd want to bring them together#instant conflict#questions of responsibility#these are fun to explore#or Damian's initial refusal to acknowledge Bruce's other kids as his siblings#what if that's because he already has a sibling#one who he refuses to let them replace#or even just Danny and Jason meeting each other#and finally finding someone who's like them

Kryptonite is crystalized ectoplasm. (had the thought and it hasn't left me alone for two hours but i don't know nearly enough about DP to write anything out sooo)
Homie I feel you. Honestly almost like a solid 85% of the workings of ectoplasm is fan made so honestly you can be as handwavey as you want about the workings of the stuff. This is mostly me just rambling so the topic may ping pong around a tad. This idea is fuckin incredible homie.
I’d say since Kryptonite is radioactive pieces of rock from the exploded planet Krypton that it would be neat to say that Krypton was somehow a planet from the Ghost Zone that escaped via a massive ghost portal and when it exploded it basically became funky radioactive ghost rock. Unsure if Danny would react the same around Kryptonite if that was the case but if Superman found his way into the ghost zone he would get hit by a massive sense of home.
You can also flip it around and say that crystallized ectoplasm simply works the exact same as Kryptonite. It’s basically a renewable resource of Kryptonite and that positively terrifies Superman and DELIGHTS Lex Luthor.
Ectoplasm absolutely can crystallize I’d say. Maybe it simply gets crystallized similar to how we dry out saltwater in a the sun and collect the salt crystal it leaves behind. Instead of the hot sun in this case it’s something else like being outside of the ghost zone. It dries up in an area with a lack of recent deaths.
Would it work with the same intensity as Kryptonite though? Like would it be like something to not make Kryptonians I’ll but it instead removes just their powers. (like a kinder version of gold Kryptonite.) Imagine Superman/Superboy being able to hug their friends without having to worry about hugging too tight and killing them or to get Superboy drunk. Things of the sort. Would it even work like the types of Kryptonite we already know? Would it be like red Kryptonite or maybe even white Kryptonite that kills everything in the area?
On another note to ponder on:
Technically wouldn’t Danny’s ice powers technically create crystallized ectoplasm? Danny simply shots an ice blast at a foe and Superman suddenly feels his powers draining away and getting incredibly weak.
