I cannot believe I'm saying this but I just argued with someone who was insisting that Dick is abusive and cruel to his family and friends while excusing Jason's actions as "the pit did it". Please give me sweet/cute moments between Dick and his friends/family, whether that's just him listening (like the time he dropped everything so Tim could vent to him) or helping out etc
You ask and I'll deliver!

What are some of your favorite Dick Grayson moments?
Please and Thank You 😃
My favorites will always be Dick being the canonical center of the DC universe 😌
Dark Crisis Issue #1
The greatest hope and the leader of the ages
Nightwing (2016) Issue #49
The Brave and Bold (2007) Issue #15
"And no one doubts that you're the best one to strategize a counterattack."
"Next to Superman, Dick Grayson is the one guy alive that every other crimefighter trusts."
JLA/Titans Issue #2
"--Founders of the original Teen Titans--"
Titans (2003) Issue #23
"It's a natural thing when Nightwing shows up. None of us are conscious of it, really--but we all look to him for orders."
Nightwing (2016) Issue #9
"You vouching for someone is worth its weight in gold. It was true in my world, and it's true in this one. In fact, of everyone I've met here, you're the least changed from the version I knew. Always confident, always kind, always cool. Dick Grayson--the multiuniversal constant."
JLA (1997) Issue #73
"It was sad at first. We were discussing the work--this work...and I asked him if he ever felt pride."
"He didn't....then he stopped for a second and said...'The only time I ever feel pride is when I look at Nightwing. Sometimes I think he's the only thing I ever did right.'"
Batman: Urban Legends Issue #22
"We have a shorthand I don't share with any of the others, save for maybe Alfred. He's always been the one keeping me centered. Grounded."
"Dick's the beating heart of this family we've created, whether he realizes it or not."
Titans (2003) Issue #6
JLA (1997) Issue #71
Nemesis - The Impostors Issue #3
Batman!Dick - he's so freaking cool!!!
He's so amazing and cool and extraordinary and over competent. He's what everyone looks up to. He's collectively placed on a pedal so high by every hero and anti-hero in that everyone wants to be him or be acknowledged by him. People have died in his footsteps. Even the Titans, his own friends, hero-worship, look up to him as the peak of excellence and goodness.
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #50
Roy
World's Finest: Teen Titans Issue #5
Titans (2016) Annual 1
The paragon of rightness and justice of the world - Superman - thinks dick is the best thing to ever come into existence.
Whenever you read a comic, there's always some character that goes "Nightwing!" when something happens and another responds "Dude, he's Nightwing. He'll be fine. He always is." That's the amount of confidence heroes have in him to always succeed and excel.
Like Kon said - when he shows up, people automatically fall in line. It's like second-nature to just follow him.
Dick has that Charisma, the leadership, and the strength to hold the entire community together and as a result the world. He's proven it, he's done it. Whenever the Justice League evaporates in any situation - because this isn't the first time the JL have died/gone missing - everyone turns to Nightwing for order and direction.
Truly, he's the greatest.

What is your most hated panel/page in comics?
Whether it killed a run or destroyed a characters arc or was just to silly to be the follow-up to a serious matter.
You would think, based on what I usually blog about, that my answer would be something like "the Dick-Tarantula rape sequence" or "Cassandra Cain's first on-page appearance in Beechen's OYL Robin run" or "the entirety of the Dick-Kory-Babs character assassination cheating nonsense in Nightwing Annual #2" or even one of the various panels of Frank Miller's Batman.
It's not. It's these pages from Wonder Woman (2011) #7:
Aka, "the pages that turned the Amazons into man-hating killers, rapists, and slave traders, utterly decimated Amazonian lore for a decade, fucked over Diana's own origin lore in a way that is still being unpacked today, and provided a justification for the introduction of two of the most annoying Wonder Woman-affiliated characters in existence (Grail and Jason)."
I hate them. I detest them. These pages are the antithesis of everything the Amazons are and should be written as. And even if they weren't, they unnecessarily complicated Amazonian lore to the point of hilarity and wiped out decades of stories and worldbuilding...all because the men running DC Comics in 2011 wanted to "rebuild" the Wonder Woman franchise to revolve around men and could not concieve of a way to depict a woman-centered island utopia in a way that did not center around the hatred and destruction of men. Disgusting.
This conceptualization of the Amazons never should have made it out of Brian Azzarello's brain, much less onto the page and out of the editorial greenlight stage. It's horrifying and grotesque on multiple levels that it did happen, and I'm hard-pressed to think of a "retcon" I am happier with than when Greg Rucka took one look at this nonsense, went "absolutely not, what the fuck," and promptly wrote a story that said that origin was a set of false memories and was absolutely not true.

nightwing annual 2 (2007) by mark andreyko. and the many things cut from the confession from 1977 that they were most likely referencing.
it's interesting to see what they cut out from a scene that was otherwise taken word for word. the entire panel describing how dick feels this is like the one sided love one would feel for a childhood teacher. the cut out "...even as a big sister--" while dick explains how much he means to her.
in their attempt to 'elevate' their past relationship to romantic, they've destroyed much of the original meaning. making it romantic is ultimately reductive to both dicks complex feelings for her and babs character as a whole. the existence of modern dickbabs really embodies the mindset of romance first (all other relationships second) that cishetero men are so often stuck in.
the annual already aged her down, but the more you look at it the more they change it order to demote babs from independent character to a love interest kneeling at dicks feet. the cheating in annual 2 was just the misogynistic icing on this metaphorical wedding cake they've made into the modern day version of batgirl.
and the handling of the cheating in annual 2 just reeks of male author who doesn't think cheating is /that/ serious imo
this parts less important, as it's little details changed for plot convenience. babs was originally facing towards dick so there was no doubt that dick was right when he saw she was asleep, and the last part of what he said was only in thought. and this is more subjective, but the annual has her positioned on the couch in a way that seems more suggestive?
while people talk about how this annual is ooc for dick, dickbabs is done terribly, and the writing is garbage (all true to a certain extent) i dont see much about how degrading it is towards babs' character. things don't have to be loudly misogynistic in order to still be misogynistic, and writing like this annual really feels like the beginning of the end for babs. DC is leaning into her status as a love interest more than ever now. i don't see how her character can be salvaged short of retconning 2 decades worth of characterization.
ive seen a few people say devin grayson wrote this. sometimes it's an innocent mistake, others just want any and every excuse to hate her. but i think understanding that both the writer and artist are men is a bit significant, specifically because of how bad this story was for babs as an independent character.
