chest binding psa
guys srsly be safe with binding your chest, most binders when bought new come with care instructions specific to the binder and the company but just generally make sure to be careful and if ur currently wearing one just take a moment to reflect and make sure you haven't been wearing it for over about 8 hours (give or take) take it from me, ive nearly broken my ribs while binding and it SUCKS, and while my dysphoria isn't too severe safety should come first, just be aware that binding can go wrong sometime and PLEASE BUY FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY because if a binder isn't made right it can potentially be more dangerous than a well made binder

Free Gender-Affirming Products For Trans Youth
Hey Tumblr!
I’m thinking about creating a project that provides free binders, trans tape, and usage resources to trans youth (ages 13–18 in the U.S.). Everything would be donation-based and run through a free website I’d build.
All requests would be kept private and handled securely. I'll be using a request form that will collect only the information necessary to send the products and ensure they go to the right people. Any personal details will never be shared or used for anything beyond the project.
Before I get too far into it, I wanted to ask:
Would this be something you’re interested in or would have wanted when you were younger?
Also, if you have the time, any answers to these questions would be extremely helpful:
Any ideas on the best way to handle requests so I can prioritize those most in need without compromising anyone’s safety or privacy?
Any tips on managing inventory, shipping, or collecting donations (money or items)?
If you’ve done something similar—or received help from projects like this—what worked for you?
I want to do this right—and safely—so any feedback or reblogs would mean a lot.
Thank you so much!!
-Limbo

Been seeing depictions of Vi with a bandaged chest and as resident Old Nonbinary who used to bind, DO NOT USE BANDAGES TO BIND OH MY WORD. You can dislocate your ribs and injure yourself to the point of being disqualified from top surgery.
Binders must allow full breaths easily and should not be worn for more than 8hrs at a time or to sleep. Dysphoria is so real but please be safe.

I recently started taping instead if binding and it's unbelievably gender affirming like what the fuck it's amazing.
I don't even really mean the flattening affect because of course that's gender affirming if I want a flat chest (which I do) I mean just like. How it looks. I love my trans identity, I love my queer identity. And this just makes me REALLY feel trans. It makes me feel completely and truly connected with my community and the people before me. I don't know. I love it.
Because also I've never really hated my overall body shape, I quite like it. I often feel more affirmed looking at my naked torso than with a binder or bra because I genuinely like my shape and it's gender affirming for me, it's just that my chest looks a teeny bit off. It just looks like it shouldn't be there, while a bra or binder feels even more off putting to me because wearing something to cover it feels weird, it feels like it should just be bare.
And taping feels that way. Yes technically it's covering a part of my chest but it's also out and open. I feel like I can have my shirt off and be comfortable and I WANT to look at myself. I feel sexy and I feel desirable.
God I love tape this feels wonderful.

sometimes its really obvious how much people dont actually believe presentation=/=gender when they see their nonbinary friend go from extremely masculine to relaxing back into femininity once theyre comfortable with their gender and every time they call it detransitioning with zero indication thats what their friend is calling it. i dont know how to tell you this but sometimes you present a certain way for social reasons and not because thats how you actually feel. sometimes you experience dysphoria about your body that is actually related to how people view you and not how you feel about your body. i really dont think its that uncommon for trans people to swing really hard in one direction for the affirmation and then relax back into a different presentation once they are more comfortable in their gender

my review: i have personally used the gc2b binder--i didn't wind up liking it for myself because of the way the compression interacted with my sensory issues (and the heat. omg i was so sweaty in the summer hahaha) but also. i am very sensitive to fabric textures and prefer loose clothing and ngl don't even wear bras at all anymore so it really depends on the interactions between your dysphoria vs your dysmorphia vs your potential sensory objections!
and i'm excited by the new tape product (which btw is $14 per roll at time of posting) so i'm gonna check that out when i can!!!
ps! if you have financial struggles or barriers to gender affirming healthcare that would prescribe a binder for you--there is a donation program with partner organizations in 42 usa states. here's the link! and although this company is based in the usa, they have international partners in many countries!

spoiler: the answer is yes

PSA: list of resources if you are in an immediate mental health crisis (just checked, soz, this list is specific to usa, canada, uk, new zealand)--i will keep looking into more widely-available international resources
edit: this support group available online to ANYONE, ANYWHERE (with the obvs limitation of being hosted in english)

No one is going to see this but because it fucking changed my life i find it is my civic duty to spread the word:
TRANSTAPE WORKS FOR BIG TIDDY BITCHES I REPEAT TRANSTAPE WORKS FOR BIG TIDDY BITCHES
And if you feel pretty sure it doesn't [like I did] that might be because of user error [it was for me]
Listen I tried a couple times without a tutorial to transtape my tits down, thinking "what the fuck would I need instructions for it seems like common fucking sense". It did not work, so as a 32G (last time I measured years ago) I said "welp my tits are probably just too powerful for containment"
Today on a whim I google "transtape large chest video tutorial" met a lovely friend on YouTube who took the sacrifice of going tits out on YouTube dot com to in depth explain how they apply their transtape and holy fuck you guys I tried it and it worked. So here I am spreading the gospel

shoutout to people who binding or taping just does not work for, no matter what they do. this can be from the chest being big, from the tissue being too dense to flatten down, or both.
you're not a failure for not being able to do this. your body is not morally wrong. you're not disgusting. you're not a freak. you're not some object to oggle at. you're a whole person, and your gender will always be valid because that's part of who you are. nothing can change that.
you're allowed to wear what makes you happy, and go on HRT if you want to. you're allowed to accept yourself as you are now, and i don't mean minimizing your struggle or giving up. i mean accepting that you can't change this part of your body right now, holding hope that better days will come, and learning to be kind to yourself despite everything.
you can't hate yourself into feeling better about yourself or your body. you are allowed to love yourself, as much as you can. you do not have to be like the skinny, small/flat chested people you see so often. you can be you, and you don't have to do this alone. you are loved. ♡
