December Update!

I finished all the Summer 1st event and quest stuff from the last update, did some more work on Ask About retooling, and just finished implementing the second event of Summer year 1.

I also fixed the code to unlock window resizing with our custom game window size/aspect ratio... I couldn't get the maximize window button to work without digging deeper into Windows window control API than I was willing to do (needed to find a way to get a "close enough" fullscreen window to count as fullscreen and/or do black box padding to maintain the aspect ratio) but you can still drag the corners of the window to make it bigger. Why such a key feature is disabled by default in VX Ace is a mystery for the ages.

December's never a particularly productive month due to the holidays but I got a lot more done this year than last year. I'm finding the rhythm of building quests... it's really not so bad with the new system (big ones with lots of characters and map transitions still are rather time-consuming, though).

Still angling for Summer Y1 to be done around the end of spring. At present, we have 2/8 events for it complete. However, a few of the remaining events are quite big and there are also a number of sidequests for the month that need writing and implementing, so there's still much left to do.

Kichen 2Point0 - Part 2

The 43 piece second half of the KICHEN 2Point0 focuses on appliances and clutter for your kitchens.

Of course its also time for another trip down memory lane, to revisit the original Kichen & how it links back to this current iteration. All the items apart from the Wishboner chair have been completely new ideas and meshes, however we wanted to try and capture some of our favourite elements from the original and reimagine them in our current styles. Way back in 2019 Harrie wasn't yet experienced in making new meshes from scratch (Fun fact: The dining table included in the original Kichen was her first ever from scratch mesh!), so a lot of the clutter items were mesh edits of EA items. For our first few collaborations we would actually explore all of the EA items that we felt would fit into our theme, but with the Kichen 2Point0 we made all of the clutter items from scratch. It was so important for us to include new essential clutter pieces in this set as even to this day we will often gravitate towards those original clutter items when building & we still spot them in many of your builds too! We have tried to cover all of the appliances you would need to bring this kitchen to life. Of course with new EA functional items being added with new pack releases we were also long overdue a small appliance refresh that we haven't had in any of our other set releases. Highlights include the functional kettle (requires For Rent EP) & the mixer (requires Home Chef Hustle SP), but of course we have also included decorative versions for those of you that don't have those packs.

Majority of the items are Base Game compatible with the exception of the Mixer & kettle as mentioned above and can be found by searching the B/B catalogue using the keyword 2Point0. As the items are designed for both of our current sets they will also show up when you search using the keywords KLEAN or SOHO

The Annual Roast Turkey Hunt

The people of Amity Park had resorted to all sorts of Guerilla warfare and improvised weaponry while fighting off the GIW.

One of the most effective tactics was unleashing the Fentons' cooking on unsuspecting patrols. As the Siege continued and more people became directly involved in the fighting, more cooks joined their crusade.

Which is how, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Pamela Manson "accidentally" unleased 5 roasted turkeys on some of the GIW high command after they forced her to quarter them in the mansion. This proved to be a critical distraction that allowed the commanders to be captured without casualties.

After the battle was over, Pamela confessed that she had intended to send the turkeys to the Casper refuge before the GIW turned her home into their new base and apologized for wasting so much food as weaponry.

Her daughter, Sam, told her not to worry. Ectoplasm was a marvelous preservative and the turkeys would be perfectly edible once they had been slaughtered a second time.

The turkeys were transported to Casper High and on Thanksgiving Day group of 30 volunteers fought them to a second death and carved the remains up for the rest of the refugees. (Some sources say that Pamela participated in the carving and actually tore a wing off the largest bird with her teeth).

This was one of the greatest victories of the Siege and a moment of light-hearted fun in a dark time.

To commemorate this event, the City Council made the Roasted Turkey Hunt into a city holiday (Vlad tried to veto on account of cleanup costs, but was outvoted)

Every year the people of Amity Park gather to present their turkeys for reanimation and hunters fight them to a second death and serve the remains to the audience. There are contests for the largest bird, the best presented bird, the tastiest bird, and the most aggressive bird as well as a prize for who can collect the most wishbones.

Recent years also allow "flocks" of game birds such as pheasants and Cornish hens to be submitted.

November Update!

Started work on Summer Y1! The first event of the season is done aside from a few visual bugs where Mayor North phases out of existence temporarily while giving his speech.

I also started on the quest associated with this initial event. It's fairly involved and will probably take some time, but it provides the player with their first real chance to make a meaningful choice between working with the lawful and outlaw characters. :)

I also started the new Ask About retooling but consider the Summer event more important at the moment.

I did lose a few work days because I had to disassemble my laptop to replace the keyboard. Word to the wise... never buy MSI laptops. They're pretty repair-hostile on top of having very fragile keyboards. :( The repair was successful but it did take two days and involved having to buy a plastic soldering iron + plastic welding rods--something you should absolutely not need to replace a keyboard. However, having a fully functional keyboard will serve me well in the more typing-heavy upcoming Wishbone tasks (embarking on Ask About before this repair was made would have been... ill advised).

The holidays are always a poor time to get work done, but Wishbone continues chugging along! See you in 2024!

Kichen 2Point0

It’s been well over a year since the last Harlix collaboration, but we are happy to finally be able to announce the KICHEN 2Point0! It all started way back in 2019 with the original KICHEN, so we decided we wanted to bring it back full circle and finally focus back onto our much loved room of the home. A lot has changed over the past 4.5 years, not only in our own personal work, but the multitude of custom content creators that also now create kitchens for your Sims. In 2019 it was slim pickings for your homes, now there is such a vibrant array of content to choose from and it really is a great thing for all.

In the years that followed we have really focused on improving our technical skills and artistry, which we hope you can see with this latest set. The stand out item for us both in original KICHEN was the wishbone chair. We have personally both tried to find another dining chair that tops it and fail miserably! It is just the perfect chair for use in so many different settings, whether it be modern or even a rustic setting, it’s just so versatile. It deserved an update to our latest techniques and colours & it’s the only item from the original KICHEN set that has been reworked for this latest iteration. Also back in 2019 we were a little too scared to use our internal name for that item, but in 2024 we are happy to share the appropriately named WISHBONER chair with you! 😆

The KICHEN 2Point0 is also designed to fit perfectly into our current Klean & Soho sets to fulfil the kitchen part. For some reason we always seem to be in sync with our set themes and no more so than with Klean & Soho. The overlap was very scary tbh with many Pinterest pins selected independently, but shared in common, so we decided to do this 2 part collaboration to create a kitchen to fit both of our current sets, with the hope of creating a much more in depth set which includes all elements required to make your dream kitchen. This first part focuses on the foundations of that dream kitchen.
