✧ 5 journaling prompts for clarity✧

hey lovelies! 🎀✨
journaling has this magical way of helping us untangle our thoughts and bring clarity to what’s swirling in our minds. if you’re feeling a little stuck, overwhelmed, or just in need of some dreamy self-reflection, here are 5 journaling prompts for clarity that will have you glowing from the inside out. i personally use these prompts for myself, and they really help. ✧
1. what’s been on my mind lately?
this is your chance to let it all out. what’s taking up space in your brain? maybe it’s a project you’re procrastinating, a dream you can’t stop thinking about, or even a random convo that’s stuck with you. (pro tip: don’t filter yourself, this is just for you.) writing it all down can help you figure out what’s truly important and what you’re ready to let go of.
2. what are my biggest goals right now?
your goals are like your north star, they guide you towards your dream life. write them out, even if they feel or sound a little big or scary! even if it’s acing that exam, starting a new hobby, or creating a routine that feels amazing, this is the moment to get super clear about what you want. and remember, your goals don’t have to be perfect, they just need to feel right for you.
3. what’s holding me back?
okay, time for a little tough love (but in the gentlest, coziest way). what’s standing between you and your goals? is it fear? a lack of time? self-doubt? be honest with yourself, and remember: identifying the blocks is the first step to moving past them. oh, and don’t forget to sprinkle in some compassion. everyone has things they’re working through.
4. what makes me happiest?
this one is a total vibe booster. think about the little (and big) things that light you up. could it be your morning coffee ritual? late-night convos with your bestie? the feeling of finishing a good book? write it all down, and let it remind you that joy is all around you, waiting to be noticed. ✨
5. what does my dream life look like?
now for the fun part. close your eyes and picture your ideal life. what does it feel like? what are you doing? who are you with? where are you living? let yourself dream as big as you want here. (pro tip: the more detailed, the better.) this is the blueprint for your glow-up.
bonus tips:
make your journaling session feel special: cozy blankets, soft music, and your favorite pen.
don’t stress about perfect grammar or spelling. this is just for you!
revisit your answers every so often. you’ll be amazed at how much clarity and progress you’ll see.
xoxo, mindy <3

Layering Fragrance 101 *.𖥔݁
How to build your own unique scent combo
✮⋆˙The Basics: Smelling good starts in the shower & ends in a spritz!
1. Pick a body wash to serve as your foundational fragrance 2. Choose a scrub to compliment your body wash 3. Use scented lotion/body cream from head to toe 4. Apply a fragrance oil to your pulse points: neck, chest, crook of your elbows, wrists, behind your knees, and ankles 5. Spray a fragrance mist all over 6. Choose a perfume to lock everything in
✮⋆˙Base Notes, Middle Notes, and Top Notes: The building blocks of fragrance
To put it simply:
Base notes: The foundational scent that adds warmth and depth to your fragrance, the last thing you smell in your mix and what lasts the longest of all notes
Middle notes: The bridge between base and top notes; seamlessly ties scents together. The main course of the fragrance!
Top notes: The initial scent you smell, the loudest scent in a fragrance for the first few minutes
⋅₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧‧
。゚゚・。・゚゚。
゚。Homework
゚·. .·゚
Search the fragrance notes of your favorite perfume on Fragrantica!
Go to Bath and Body Works and smell different body sprays, then flip the bottle around to see the notes on the back
Find the common notes you like when comparing your favorite scents. Do you notice a pattern of fruity notes? Musky? Sweet?
!! : Once you have an idea of what notes you like and what they smell like paired with other notes, you’ll have a better understanding of how to maximize your scent building and layering.
Now to Layer……
Pick a theme for your scent combo. Here’s an example of my combo when I’m in the mood to smell fruity and tropical:

°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
✮⋆˙So let’s build a hypothetical scent combo together, shall we? Let's say I want to smell like a chocolate banana crepe. Random scent that doesn’t exist, right?
⭒˚I’d probably start off with a body wash that has some sort of nutmeg, cinnamon, or amber scent. Or maybe something with a gourmand accord note.
Here are some body wash options I’d consider for this combo: Olay - Sugar & Cocoa Butter Philosophy - Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere Bath and Body Works - Christmas Cookies Caress - Shea Butter & Brown Sugar
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
⭒˚Next up is a scrub. I’d look for something with similar notes, but not exactly the same. Maybe this time something to represent the banana or sweetness of a crepe. If you can find a matching scrub, that works too– but I personally like to mix and match to really make my own scent.
Here are some body scrub options I’d consider for this combo: Soap & Glory - Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub Dove - Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk Dove - Hot Cocoa Swirl
!! : Body wash and scrubs are pretty forgiving. Remember, you don't have to stick to strict fragrance notes to pull off a scent combo– venture out! Pair whatever you think might smell good together. Smell is subjective :)
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
⭒˚Next is a body moisturizer of some kind. This can be a body cream, lotion, body butter, or even body oil (though I’m not too well versed in body oils). Since we have the basics covered, now I can either double up on some notes or introduce new notes like whipped cream, vanilla, chocolate fudge, etc.
Here are some moisturizer options I’d consider for this combo: Kwailnara - Banana Milk Being Frenshe - Moon Milk Bodycology - Whipped Vanilla
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
⭒˚Moving on to fragrance oil. Again, doubling up or introducing new notes.
Here are some fragrance oil options I’d consider for this combo: Al-rehab - Choco Musk Roll On Oil H&M - Choc Sugar Milk - Banana Pudding
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
⭒˚Almost done! Let’s pick a body spray.
Here are some body spray options I’d consider for this combo: Dirty Soul Soap Co. - Banana Milk Pie Body Fantasies Signature - Vanilla Bath and Body Works - Hot Cocoa & Cream
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
⭒˚Last but certainly not least, perfume!! Finally….
Here are some perfume options I’d consider for this combo: Sabrina Carpenter - Sweet Tooth Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Banane Ariana Grande - Vanilla Suede
°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °
Phew!!!! I don't know about you people but my mental nose is completely blind at the moment. So many scents to choose from! Again, don’t feel confined to making sure every product has a certain fragrance note– it's pretty impossible. Play around with different scents: spray perfumes over each other and test them out. Mix body washes if you want! Who cares? Your next favorite body scent might just be two separate scents that were never meant to go together, and you’ll be the only one wearing it <3

Introduction to my Blogs :)
Get to know me better ;)
Name- Hi Shelby Here and I am new to this Trumblr World lol
B-day: June 26, 2002, Gen Z gal XD
Username: Honestly, I always liked the name, Shelby, which also related to compelling well-known characters in the series Peaky Blinders. So it makes me think that I am a part of their family. LOL!
Meaning Behind My Account: I want to start writing down my thoughts and opinions I feel about the world. Several aspects of society have always bewildered my mind, so I figured writing a blog would help review my interpretations and see if any like-minded humans across the world feel the same way that I do… Also, I want to create a safe place where anyone can ask me questions, and to build a stable friendship with each other!
Why Create A Blog?
Truth be told… I never thought I had what it takes to create a blog. I primarily, view myself as being non-instertesting and pretty “basic”. However, the main reason for tapping into the blog world was to create a documented diary to reflect the years of being in my 20s and overall just looking back on the memories I have created in the past. Personally, my philosophy is it is always good to look back on the past and reflect on what you can do to become a better version of yourself. To wrap this post up I want to clarify how I want to get to know myself better and to improve my life skills with the world!
Thank you so much for following and reading my long post stay tuned for the next blog! Xoxox <3

hiii angel! i was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to get out of the planning stage. i always plan everything super well (goals, assignments, new habits, etc.) but i can't seem to actually do what i set out to do. thank youuu <333
how to get out of the planning stage and take action

hiii angel!
so sorry this reply is a little late, currently have over 20 asks in my tumblr inbox and 39 submissions for glowettee hotline, + i've been busy with school!! <3 trying my best here 😭😭
i totally get where you're coming from. for the longest time, i've chatted with so many lovely souls who plan every detail down to the tiniest nuance but still find themselves stuck in that comfortable space called the planning stage. it's such a familiar feeling – the allure of a perfect plan is hard to resist, yet the leap from paper to action often feels like a giant jump into the unknown.
first off, it’s important to remember that planning is a beautiful part of who we are. i adore mapping out goals, assignments, and habits because it gives a sense of structure and purpose. however, when our plans become so intricate that they keep us from living and experimenting in the real world, they can inadvertently hold us back. so, here are some tips that might help you step out of the planning cocoon and into the vibrant dance of doing.
tip number one: break the step into a micro-action. instead of looking at a major goal as a single massive project, try to identify the tiniestttt action that will move you forward. for example, if your goal is to start a new habit like journaling, begin by simply writing one sentence a day. that small step feels almost trivial, but it lowers the barrier and starts a chain reaction. each micro-action is a little celebration of progress, and before you know it, you’re writing a full entry without even noticing how natural it has become. this is really helpful especially when you tend to procrastinate, (like mee) breaking down a task can be sooo helpful, and checking off little sub-tasks, getting closer to completing the base-task is so satisfying, just make sure to not have too many sub-tasks as it can get kind of overwhelming.
tip number two: embrace the idea of imperfection. our plans often feel like a promise to ourselves that everything must be flawlessly executed. but truthfully, life thrives on surprises and little missteps. give yourself the grace to experiment and to be imperfect. if you try something and it doesn’t go as planned, see it as a delightful learning curve rather than a failure. each imperfect attempt is closer to your goals, one that adds character and charm to your journey.
tip number three: set a playful deadline. if the thought of beginning feels overwhelming, create a fun, short timeframe for starting. set a timer for 15 or 20 minutes and that period is solely dedicated to moving from planning into doing. it’s like a little challenge to yourself, a mini-adventure that transforms the abstract into something tangible. when you’re engaged in this light, timed action, the pressure of perfection fades into the background. i tried this multiple times, for example, after i planned out a workout routine that totaled up to 35 minutes, i ended up procrastinating and not doing it, until i decided to set a timer for 10 minutes and i did a few exercises from the routine i planned, and accomplished about 6 of them! it make me feel so good and a day later i ended up doing the full routine, and now i do it everyday <33
tip number four: share your dream out loud. there’s something incredibly powerful about voicing your plans. it doesn't matter if you chat with a friend, jot your intentions in a personal note, or even share a snippet on your blog, you invite accountability into your space. hearing your plans out loud can make them feel more real, shifting them from thoughts into your life’s reality. i see a lot of tumblr blogs do it, for example the 100-day productivity challenge, it's super common on here. it not only adds commitment but might also bring unexpected encouragement or fresh perspectives from someone who gets you.
tip number five: create an action ritual. sometimes, a gentle ritual can signal your brain that it’s time to switch from planning mode to action mode. for me, it might be making a delciiousss smoothie (i love doing this), or playing a specific calming spotify playlist, or simply taking a few deep breaths before diving in. if you try to create a little ritual, you’re setting a clear boundary, a small, charming ceremony that honors both your planning side and your doing side.
tip number six: allow for what i call a “trial and error” mindset. instead of pressing yourself to hit the bullseye on the first try, treat every action as a cutseyy experiment. consider each attempt a hypothesis, and your goal is simply to learn something new from each experiment. this mindset not only reduces the fear of failure but also makes the journey more about self-discovery than about ticking off checklists. over time, each experiment, regardless of the outcome, becomes a stepping stone toward more confident actions.
tip number seven: mix planning with spontaneity. while it might sound contradictory, mixing your structured plans with unscheduled moments of spontaneity can really shake things up. allow yourself a bit of wiggle room in your schedule, moments where you simply go with the flow. these spontaneous choices can open up creative pathways that a strictly planned day might suppress. sometimes, the best discoveries come when you let go and simply enjoy the moment.
tip number eight: reflect on your “why.” before diving into any action, it can help to take a step back and remind yourself why you started planning in the first place. reconnect with the heart of your goal, the emotion behind it, this can be for personal growth, academic success, or simply the joy of creating something new. that connection, that inner spark, can serve as a strong motivator to nudge you out of over-analysis and into real action.
little note from mindy: planning is an art form and a comfort zone, but it’s not the destination. it’s a gentle stepping stone to a world of possibilities where every little step forward counts. your plans are a lovely blueprint, and nothing is more exciting than watching those blueprints come to life bit by bit. take a deep breath, trust in your instincts, and let your actions bloom and flow naturally.
i hope these tips bring a bit of encouragement and help you balance between the beauty of planning and the thrill of doing. sometimes, the journey itself is a mix of trials, errors, and surprising successes. but i assure you, it's all a part of the process.
thank you for sharing your thoughts and for trusting me with your question. your journey is uniquely yours, and your honesty in sharing these challenges is something to celebrate. keep planning, keep dreaming, and most importantly, find joy in taking those small yet bold steps forward.
love, mindy

♡ Tips To Make Social Media Fun Again ♡
✮⋆˙ A follow up of this post ✮⋆˙
♡ Unfollow & Remove
I get it, it's easy to feel guilty about unfollowing and removing someone from your account when they haven't done anything necessarily wrong. If you are consistently skipping someone's posts or even go so far as to mute their entire account it's time to let them go. Do it! They most likely won't notice or care and you will feel free, I promise. I went from almost 900 followers on Instagram to 63 and I have never felt better.
♡ Go Private
Make your account private to avoid wandering eyes. Think of how many times you have stalked someone's account because of enticing drama you heard from a friend. Now think of how many people have done that to you. It feels weird, right? Controlling who has access to you makes posting on social media much less suffocating. Evil eye is real. Beware!
♡ Curate Who You Follow
Don't follow the people that make you feel the why not me's and start following creatives. Following influencers who have the things you want sounds alluring until you're having a bad day. What you surround yourself with is what creates your perception so find accounts that make you feel inspired, motivated, happy.
Some examples of the type of content that may resonate with you:
♡ Art
♡ Writing / Poetry
♡ Self Help
♡ Fitness
♡ Post Your Niche
It sounds daunting because having a niche seems like a thing only really put together people have. It's not! A niche is whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you want to keep posting. Is your niche something that is popular with the majority? Probably not, and that's okay. This blog's aesthetic is 2000's emo/scene/mcbling/y2k. These aesthetics absolutely don't connect with the majority like the Lana clean girl aesthetic that's popular right now, but it's what makes M and I happy. Having a unique niche makes it so much more rewarding when like-minded accounts like your content. Don't post what garners the most engagement, post what you like.
♡ Do Not Disturb ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
After you post put your phone on DND and throw it as far away from you as possible. It sounds like a joke but I'm being serious <( °^° )> Sitting on your phone waiting for likes and comments is anxiety inducing for everyone so it's best to go find something else to do while you wait. While I wait I read, watch a show, play a game, clean. Do what your heart desires in the moment to get your mind off of it.
♡ Interact
Like, comment, share! I'm not sure when it became uncool to interact with people you don't know. I fell into that trap and didn't realize until I started these tips myself. Who cares if people you know see you interacting with others? They are not responsible for what makes you feel passion and excitement. Interacting with others is the sole reason for social media to exist so reap the benefits and create a community you enjoy.
♡ Fulfill Yourself Outside Of the Internet
This is easier said than done and I can admit it is the hardest to do. However, that is not to deter you from doing it! If your life is consumed by social media it becomes mundane. You have seen it all and now you're just waiting around for the next viral thing to happen. Find something you like doing outside of being online and coming back to your socials becomes so much more fun. Remember, it's a hobby not a lifestyle.
⊱ ─── ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ ─── ⊰
I have felt suffocated and pressured on social media for years and thought there was no way out of it. These things helped me rediscover how fun social media can be and I hope they do the same for you! ♡⸜(˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝
Good luck!

9 Ideas to Get Inspiration or Beat Writer’s Block
Inspiration is an integral part of the writing process, without it you are stuck. I don’t have a lot of problems with inspiration; it seems to overrun my mind. However, once I started a book with giant eagles (Shahira and the Flying Elfs) and was so busy with promoting my already published books that a year went by, before I knew it. On Writing a Short Story with Anton Chekhov
Raymond Carver said that Anton Chekhov was the "greatest short story writer who ever lived." Why? What can writers learn from Chekhov? I try to answer that question in this week's post -- check it out!
Anton Chekhov Two summers back, I read Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose and despite the overall tone of the writing, I found it useful in my writing — and reading — life. The book reinforced the importance of editing and came with a reading list, which I’ve been slowly but surely making my way through. To that end, I finally finished a collection of short stories by Anton Chekhov. Prose…
