Harry brought up Charley saying he was gonna quit smoking after he had a kid. Do you think that if Buster's father continued smoking, that it would lead him to having lung cancer by the time Buster bought the theater? I've heard that smoking is detrimental to our lungs.

Lung cancer is definitely an idea I've played around with since I decided on the smoking headcanon. It's absolutely a possible option for how he could've died by the time we see Buster in the first movie. However, I don't think he would've gotten to the point of acquiring the cancer. At least not in my version.

I think he'd try his very best to stop smoking so that he could be a better influence on his son. Would smoke on and off, and sometimes get addicted again because he needed the stress relief. So he probably had respiratory problems, but maybe not something as huge as cancer.

I'm a bit biased though- since I have a different idea of how he could've died.

[Though, the way you phrased it just has me imagining a scenario where Buster's dad gets like a Walter White arc where he knows he has cancer, so he does a bunch of c r i m e to get money to buy the theater for Buster before he dies. Could be a fun AU to play around with, but idk. Man-with-nothing-left-to-lose type beat, essentially. Sing AU where it's just Breaking Bad ~_~]

if i made tv shows i would insist on having those "previously on..." recaps at the start of each episode because they're fun and also so i could use one of them to show a series of events that definitely never happened in the story before being like "oops! wrong timeline lol" and cutting to the actual opening and never acknowledging what the fuck just happened again

I think the Batfam acts differently outside of Gotham than they do in Gotham

They’re more intense in Gotham, lean more heavily into the cryptid/eldrich horror thing. They move in a way that’s not quite human, their words are just too close to chirps and whistles.

Outside of Gotham they behave like normal humans, well as normal as they can be with all their training.

This leads to theories that they’re all pretending to be human but because Gotham is their home or because of all the cursed/supernatural things there they can’t hide their own supernatural nature aswell. People also believe this is why they’re more aggressive in Gotham.

I was scrolling through my fic drafts when I remembered this AU I was masterfully crafting a few months ago. I'll probably never finish writing it so I drew it so I can share it here to see if anyone gets my vision.

Basically, after the Axolotl thing, Bill revives in the past Gravity Falls taking the form of a cyclops kitten, and he is NOT happy about it. Ford, who just arrived and is ecstatic about the anomalies, finds him and takes him with him, giving him a name and everything (even if he's an absolute nightmare of a pet, destroying everything he can and being agressive). Bill wants to recover his old form and power or at least quit being a dumb house cat, so he realizes he can manipulate Ford again and use his investigation to discover some way out. The problem? He´s lost his infinite knowledge and can´t even write any human language, so he'll struggle to communicate with Ford.

And that´s pretty much all I had thought for it back then. It didn't get very far lmao. I guess my intention was to kind of redeem Bill like this, as that's what Axolotl revived him for. But yeah, that was the idea. It was going to be a mostly comedic fic with some developing friendship (my fav thing to write). It's a pity I'm awful at consistency.

It is Over the Garden Wall Month!

I literally cannot even estimate how often I've watched this show now. Just this year alone I think it's at least 10+ times - I fjucking love OtGW.

Also, as is typical for me, I am intrigued by the concept of an OtGW AU. I am literally writing a PnP Campaign for my table based on the show. So, may I raise you, as an idea:

Fable SMP / Over the Garden Wall AU

I need a fic where Arthur knows magic isn’t inherently evil but doesn’t know about Merlin’s magic.

So he sees his new manservant being terrified of anything magical and tries to convince Merlin that magic can be good.

Meanwhile, Merlin thinks that Arthur knows about him so he’s trying to subtly convince Arthur that he should stop bringing it up.

Morgana just cackling in the background.

And it goes on until Ealdor when Arthur is like: “why the hell are you so anti magic if you have it?!”

And Merlin is so confused: “you didn’t know? But you kept trying to reassure me that you weren’t afraid of me.”

And Hunnith is watching all this unfold like: “ah yes, soulmates. Two sides of the same coin but if the coin is anything like their brain cells, it isn’t worth much.”

Merthur Idea (so feel free to ignore if you don’t wanna read all of this)

Can you imagine if like, in one of the MANY magical shenanigans Merlin gets into and thinks he has to go off and die for Arthur, Lancelot tells Arthur what Merlin plans to do?

Like say it’s some canon-divergent AU and Merlin is going to go off and fight some big bad or try and trade his life for Arthur. He says his goodbyes to everyone in the castle: Gaius, Gwen, Morgana, Gwaine, Arthur. He hopes Gaius gets the letter he wrote to his mother

And when Merlin says bye to Lancelot, Lance knows something is wrong. Knows Merlin’s keeping something from him and is worried immediately. It isn’t until Lancelot speaks to Arthur that he puts it together.

Arthur tells Lancelot about Merlin seeming weird to him too. Seeming too sincere, too nice before leaving to Ealdor for his ailing mother. Lancelot knows Hunith isn’t sick and realizes: Merlin’s gone on a stupid, idiotic journey to lay down his life.

Lancelot doesn’t tell Arthur of Merlin’s magic but does tell him that Merlin doesn’t intend on returning and is in fact planning to die so ofc our favorite Pendragon gathers all his knights and goes after Merlin.

As they’re traveling, Arthur is so upset by the last conversation he had with Merlin bc that moron actually planned to die and didn’t bother to tell him? Didn’t bother to let Arthur say goodbye and talk him out of this fool’s quest?

While on the journey, Arthur learns that this isn’t the first time Merlin’s done something stupid like this and wonders what else Lancelot knows that Merlin is keeping from him.
