"Hehehe..." You snickered quietly to yourself, rapidly pressing the buttons on your remote. The ceiling reflected your desire, rapidly changing colours as you did so. Smart lights were so cool.

A knock sounded at your door.

"Hello!" Called the bane of your existence.

"Not here!" You called back.

"I'm coming it anyways!" Dick sauntered in through your door as if your four individual locks meant nothing to him. Damn. Next time you're buying a barricade. Jason could probably be persuaded to install it. Stick it to the old man and all.

"Get out." You stated.

You changed the light into a deep, dark red.

"I'm here because Bruce is busy." Your unwanted visitor explained. "It's great that you're having fun and all, but using your light to flash SOS in morse code is going a bit too far, wouldn't you think?"

"No." You replied, a deadpan expression on your face.

"Well Bruce thinks it is, so this is your warning. Stop flashing in morse code, or he's talking the bulb out."

"You would take this away from me?" You pleaded, tears welling up in your eyes. You had gotten extremely good at that lately. "My one solace in this cruel, lonely-"

"We're always extremely happy to hang out with you." Dick cut in, bemused.

"-mansion." You continued as if he had never spoke. "You would really do that? To me? ...your sibling?" The tears were perhaps getting a bit out of control, but you'd rather be overacting than under.

"Unfortunately yes-"

"Unfair!" You shouted. "Besides, Tim taught me how to use the light this way, if anything you should be blaming him! Favouritism!" Yous screeched. If tears didn't get him out volume would.

Dick winced, so you were clearly doing your job.

"I'll.. see what I can do." He muttered, turning away.

You breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, alone once more.

"Oh by the way!" He turned back.

Damnit!

"It's family movie night tonight! You know the rules, whoever caught you in your last escape attempt gets to cuddle you for the whole night, and you know who that was!" He laughed. You hated him. That attempt was one of your best yet, until he showed up.

Dick left, laughing all the way.

You sighed, a deep and long breath. How frustrating.

After a little bit, you looked up again, turning your room into a brilliant pink.

"Hehehe..." You continued fiddling with your remote. It was really fun.

Yeah, let's forget how this malnourished kid decided to fight Ma Gunn's men ON HIS OWN because he thought Batman wasn't going to come, and also saved Batman's ass that night. Jason was going to go fight criminals before he was Robin. Bruce gave him a way for him to help, which he wanted to do. Also, another version of canon (actually, the first) as him declaring himself as Robin when Dick informs Bruce of his retirement from the tricolor costume to become Nightwing. Like, neither Dick or Bruce made him Robin, he went "Mine now" like the little brother he was, taking his sibling's shit.

I am genuinely really enjoying seeing people who have clearly never read the Odyssey before reacting to EPIC's Ithaca saga. I haven't listened to EPIC myself (yet) but people keep saying stuff like "Odyseeus built their palace around an olive tree he carved into his and Penelope's marriage bed that's so symbolic" and "He really just murdered all the suitors wouldn't that piss off their parents?" Which are observations and questions that the Odyssey makes incredibly blatantly clear as to the symbolism or the answer because it's a really old poem and subtlety wasn't really Homer's strong suit.

There's something really endearing about seeing people interact with the Odyssey through the same way the Ancient Greeks did - a bard singing the story of Odyseus' nostos.

(I gather the details have changed a little, but that's what happens with oral storytelling, and that's how the Odyssey got created in the first place)

Also as congratulations have my favourite ancient depiction of Odysseus surfing with two amphemorae having stolen Poseidon's trident, being sped along by Boreas, stark naked except for a cloak he's holding onto.

Dick had agreed to take one of Stephanie's Robin's patrols so she could study for her final exams. Totally just for that reason. Definitely not because he was probably going to run into Red Hood on the way because the dude seemed to know their patrol schedules and routes down to a fucking tee, and there was something so oddly familiar about the guy, and he may not even be a guy, that might be a fucking child, because he looked and acted and talked so much like a teenager who was around the age Jason would be if he was still alive, and that was really weird because Hood sometimes really reallyreminded Dick of his dead little brother Jason in both good and bad ways, and Dick hated how he'd pushed Jason away before he died and how much he regretted not being there for him and, he hated how bitter he felt every single time he had to hear Stephanie’s voice instead of Jason’s whenever he called for Robin, and he hated how he didn’t regret how good it had felt to see the life leave Joker’s eyes as Dick carved that blade across his throat, and—

Yeah, just so Robin could study. *John Mulaney/Peter Porker voice* No other reason.

also random headcannon that Dick killed the Joker and Batman was literally 15 feet away, just watching. Bruce would never kill Joker himself, but if Dick's gonna do it, HELL, who's Bruce to stop his little boy from following his dreams??

Damians eyes are green in canon but some head canon that they were blue originally but my headcanon is that his eyes can change colour form green to blue but it depends on how you view him the colour that you’ll see

Bruce and Tim see green cause Bruce is remembering all the times he had with talia and is filled with regret about so much of the stuff that happened between them that he can only ever see that and the what ifs when he looks at Damian

Tim sees green cause he reminder of all the shit he went through cause of the al ghuls he has some prejudice towards them and Damian and he at first struggled to see him as anything other than an extension of them his eyes are still green even when they stop being directly hostile towards each other but bleed into his blue nearer the centre but where blue when he hallucinated him when he was dead and right when he came back

Talia sees blue eyes and all the possibilities that Bruce could have given her (she could have got them herself but Bruce meant not being alone at start) but she still stuck between him and her father

Dick sees Bruce’s blue and all the burden that comes with Damian being his son and all the responsibilities that dick now has because of it (they start looking like Dicks eyes at some point somewhere between that first night and we were the best)

Jason sees the change from green to blue his relationship with Damian is difficult half the time he’s fighting him half they vaguely getting along Damian and robin have different eye colour (it’s hard to now which one Jason would say is a child and which colour he hates the most blue cause of Bruce or green cause of himself)

Steph always saw green she saw how different he was from his father the robins that came before him she looked and saw an angry child but she still saw a child (she treated him like a kid from the start knew that no matter what you go through or did no one can take something like that form you could see the safety and uncertainty that childhood brings)

Duke sees grey Damian was the first robin that was younger than him a shadow smaller than his running across Gotham City a movement stared after the shadow got snuffed out and acknowledged when the shadow returned duke sees damian and sees the robin he went to the movies with sees his little brother

Damian’s eyes are a teal to cass they don’t interact at lot so she sees him through others half the ppl telling her blue or green and one telling her grey her eyes are brown but she still sees herself at 8 right before her first and only kill when she looks at him the empathy and desperation to please and protect those around her a desire to do what’s right but too young to really no more than what your taught

i’ve never fully been able to get behind the ‘james potter as the sun’ metaphor, because it feels very surface level: the sun is bright and happy and good! so is james! yay! but the sun is also destined to explode one day and destroy earth. the sun only provides its light for half the day. the sun exists in polarisation to the moon and the stars, to sirius and remus. i feel like ‘james as the sun’ can be a really effective comparison in fics when the author takes all of these things into consideration, and uses the ‘dark side’ of the sun as part of the metaphor as well. for example, presenting james as a bpd/bipolar character.

me personally, i find the metaphor of james as the earth so much more compelling. he grounds everyone, he’s a solid, reliable force in everyone’s life. he has beautiful parts, but also ugly parts. he’s been tainted by circumstances, such as war and loss and death. he needs those around him as much as they need him: a peaceful coexistence. relationships don’t work when it’s a one-way stream of light, or love. james potter is so much more more complex and interesting if we consider him outside the capacity of ‘saviour’. he is not just a beacon of hope and happiness, but a real person.

i just. love qpac and qcellbit and their weird complex relationships. like when I hear celltw i think of cannibalism and the prison and all the fucked up implications of just. everything that went on there. when i hear pacbit i think of cellbit telling pac e mike that he loves them and that he’s no longer cell and that that monster died, and cellbit telling pac after the happy pills arc that he’s not alone anymore and he’s a hero, and them raising a kid together and joking about their past. like. it’s insane that one character can change so fuckijg much that two different ship names can make me think of two completely different dynamics, even though cell and cellbit are the same exact character in different points in time and celltw and pacbit are essentially the same ship

LIKE cellbit has changed so much but pac has stayed more or less the same and i just wonder what the hell cellbit must look like from his eyes. yk. how one person can change so much that your entire relationship has flipped on its head and now you’re family but you still find yourself scared of who he used to be sometimes regardless of how he’s changed. the duality of these fucking guys. i’m going to eat the floorboards
