I think the place we've gone wrong in society is when change became something to be ashamed of.
Why fight for rights by saying we are 'born this way' or 'like that forever'?
We deserve to live, and it shouldn't matter if gender is learned because it doesn't change that gender identity should be respected.
it shouldn't matter if sexuality is born from trauma, or is innate for a person, it's okay anyways.
we are the way we are, regardless of how we came to be.
If we don't start trying to change the mindset of truth being unchanging and stone solid, then every time we have to fight for rights, we're gonna have to repeat same shit.
Like that we're not changing the world but instead cutting ourselves to fit the societys mold of acceptable.
Trying to make ourselves marketable.
Our world shouldn't be a place where identity is valid only when it can be priced and sold.

it's okay if your assistive devices make you look "silly" btw. able bodied people are already gonna look at you weird if you're disabled, might as well use everything at your advantage to feel better. ableists will get mad at you whether you use a cane, crutches, braces or even no visible aids. do whats best for you and fuck them

I’ve brushed my teeth at least once a day for two whole weeks!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
This may not seem like a big deal for a lot of people but I’m really proud of myself for this!
I know to a lot of people, especially abled people (whether physically or mentally abled), the idea of not brushing your teeth regularly is gross or “repulsive” or makes someone disgusting and what not, but I think we need to accept that not everyone can engage in hygiene practices the same way as everyone else. Just because someone cannot brush their teeth, or shower, or brush the their hair daily or even weekly does not make someone less than or gross or less deserving of anything. We are all people and we all deserve the same respect and we all deserve to feel safe in this world. Everyone has different abilities and support needs. Everyone is their own person and can do what they’re able to and should not be forced to do more than they’re able to do safely or comfortably. Someone may choose to do more but they should not be forced to by others.
Disabled people are people and deserve the same respect as everyone else.
My ability to take care of myself changes daily sometimes even throughout a day and I shouldn’t feel like I’m being judged for doing the best I can when it doesn’t match what others think my best should be.
TL;DR: Someone’s ability to engage in hygiene practices should never ever determine their worth!!!!
EDIT: (September 6th, 2023) I am so proud of everyone in the replies/reblogs who struggle with hygiene too! You are all doing so good and you should be proud of what you’re able to do!

so i’ve been having an existential crisis for like the past hour. i suddenly came to the realization that in order to “contribute to society” (something i don’t want to do because i don’t want society) im going to have to go to school for a few more years to to college for a few years become a wage slave until i die (because of some physical health conditions i doubt ill grow old). i don’t want to live a life like that, and apparently im just lazy because i want to live a life worth living. that’s, to be quite frank, disturbing. if we have to give up some of our liberties to live in a society, if we have to give up our happiness and freedom to live in a society, i don’t want one. it doesn’t make sense to just toil away and convince yourself everything’s okay for your entire life, and then when you finally can’t work anymore just go be abused institutionally again.
that’s a really fascinating thing about modern society. the fact that during the beginning of your life, you are forced to go to school (institutional abuse) and when you’re elderly, your forced into a nursing home or other facility (institutional abuse). your expected to contribute to a society that doesn’t help you, otherwise your ungrateful and lazy because of course the company owning billionaires work hard to allow you to be miserable and poor your entire life.
i hate capitalism.

Wow, they're seriously making shoplifting a worse offence?
So you cry about whenever rich businesses lose some money, but you couldn't bat an eye whenever we the people are in poverty?
You're putting my mum through a process right now where she is losing alot of money AND you make her pay an income tax when she makes poverty level money.
We have to go to two government run places a week to be able to get food to survive.
I was caught shoplifting once and had to go to juvy, and now owe a fine of $240 dollars to my mother because you made her pay it to get me out of juvy.
And you're crying about big businesses losing money they're not even going to notice is gone in 2 days, just because they choose to take out their frustrations on other people?
Maybe those companies should shut their goddamn mouths and substitute the money with money they already fucking have than force us to make up for shoplifting. You're only villianising people who NEED to shoplift to survive by saying 'and it's because of these people that the prices on these items are rising to make up for the stolen stock'.

What if we stopped investing in mass produced products and started growing our own food and making our own clothes and stuff. We could give the ultimate fuck you to society by living like gremlins in the middle of a swamp

Anti capitalism doesn’t mean not buying that extra shirt, or a third pair of shoes.
Anti capitalism starts at how we view ‘work ethic’ and the push for everyone, regardless of disability or background or race or whatever to have a perfect work ethic, a perfect ability to access work theyre actually happy with. Anti capitalism means you need to stop pushing this idea you need to EARN money in societally acceptable ways because society is rarely accessible and comfortable.
Stop saying you’re anti capitalist if you think people who can not work, or can’t work the ‘stable’ or prized careers for whatever reason are bad, or worth less.
Stop saying you’re anti capitalist if you aren’t working and pushing for accessibility in financial stability.
You are not anti capitalist if you are racist, if you are ableist, if you are anti-Semitic, if you are an asshole. You are not anti capitalist if you think you’re truly helping the issue by simply cutting less on your consumerism.
ANTI CAPITALISM STARTS AT TEARING DOWN THE SOCIETY PUSHED WORK ETHIC.
AND STOP THINKING PEOPLE WHO CAN NOT EARN MONEY HOW YOU WANT THEM TO NEED SAVING YOURE JUST AN ASSHOLE.

It's so funny to me that ppl are weirded out by nonhuman/alterhuman folk. cuz like, you cursed us out and made us feel different, and 'dehumanize' us because of our identity, and often because of illnesses, disabilities and neurodivergency. But now that we agree, "yes we're not human", you have a problem with us not being human.
The amount of times I was called a psycho cuz of something or other, I'd think they wouldn't be surprised when it turned out I don't exactly vibe with humanity.
It's almost as if they're mad they lost a way to hurt us, eh.

a lot of thievery from grocery stores has been documented lately, however at the same time grocery store profits are at an all time high.
nobody is talking about how these two are connected, why are people stealing from stores? something that could get them in jail, get them fired, potentially lose friends/their partner if they have one, keep them from getting jobs in the future just so they can eat, so their families can eat?!
people are stealing because it costs so much to get a meal these days, on top of living expenses. its becoming the only option, the only thing they can do besides starve. its literally the only option unless they wanna fucking die??? get sick??
its insane how basic necessities, not just food but water shelter medication ect is so expensive that most people cant afford it.
this is an actual nightmare if something doesnt happen soon i think society is gonna be like permanently fucked
