So we all know that it's not just beings who used to be alive that can become ghosts but also concepts, just look at ClockWork he's the ghost of Time.

How many of you remember Joker Jr. ?

Because I do.

In this case let's imagine that JJ became a fully conscious being that came from the trauma Tim went through with the Joker and Harley.

But Tim doesn't have JJ in his head not for a very long time, he never put much thought to it other than he was healing from his trauma.

But JJ still exists not in Tim anymore no, he lived and he died, and now he's a ghost who is healing from the trauma as well.

Years have passed

JJ is now almost an adult at least by human mortal years

And he just happens to bump into Danny, and they click

After all Danny understands the trauma of being mentally controlled by a clown look a like.

JJ's appearance now looks less like the Joker and more like Tims.

He's getting better, Danny and him are helping each other heal.

Danny doesn't even flinch when JJ lets out his natural laughter which sounds almost worse than the Jokers.

Danny cares about JJ,

Danny is a protection spirit, he's protective especially to those he considers his so imagine his rage when the Bats find out about JJ's existence and immediately try to hunt him down, have him locked away.

Danny is this close to saying 'Fuck it' and declaring war on the heroes and anyone who sides with them.

All of those who have a connection to death or magic are freaking out

This is from Danny & JJ pov, they're idiots who are panicking and jumping to the worst conclusion,

Danny doesn't know the situation completely he just saw his friend scared and went straight into the find out stage of fuck around.

In other words they share a single brain cell and it's on vacation.

We need to talk more about Joker Jr. bc that shit was DEVASTATING.

The recovery fic potential that whole incident has that so few people recognize.

More so, Joker Jr. and Red Hood being in the same continuity:

Tim is jumpy in the days following the Joker Jr. incident. He’s easily scared and Bruce can’t leave his side without having someone else there to be with him. He’s still trying to get over the toxins that Joker gave him.

Whenever he’s scared or significantly upset he can’t help it but start laughing. He has laughing fits constantly the first few weeks afterwards and he often cant stop until he ends up passing out. It’s heartbreaking for Bruce and Alfred to listen to the young boy cry while he holds his stomach in pain from laughing so long or cover his mouth in an attempt to stop it.

As the months pass Tim gets control of the laughing fits but they still can happen occasionally if he’s too stressed and upset.

Then he meets Red Hood.

Red Hood is in front of him and Tim knows this is Jason. This is Jason. This is the first Robin that the Joker hurt. This is the Robin that Tim grew up watching the most. This is the Robin that might be able to understand the pain Tim went through. And This Robin seems to want to fight him. This Robin hates him.

So Tim starts laughing.

And Jason, he knows that laugh.

The Replacement is laughing uncontrollably, holding his stomach and crying through it all.

And Jason can’t stomach it, but he can’t look away from the source of a laugh so similar to the laugh of the man that took his life, so he just stares in horror as this sixteen year old just laughs and cries in front of him.

I feel like we don't talk about Joker Jr enough. It's such a good plot point but I never see anyone talk about it. Especially because of the things that could happen after the fact. Like Tim and Jason bonding over their shared trauma caused by the Joker, or Batman finally killing the clown. I mean...even if Bruce doesn't kill the Joker I'm sure that Tim and Jason would just do it for him. Or y'know, Tim's rather powerful friends who would all die for each other. Even the other members of the batfamily. Dick already lost a brother once to the Joker and you're telling me he's just gonna let it go when his other brother is kidnapped and tortured for three weeks? No! Also what if while Tim's gone that's when Damian pops up? And like, he tries to take the Robin persona and says he deserves it because the old Robin is dead but Bruce won't let him(He finally learned his lesson about replacing Robin without the previous Robins knowledge). Not until Tim is found and rescued is when Damian finally becomes Robin and that's only because he steals the costume. Let's start writing more Joker Jr stuff

Lil snippet of an AU I'm writing, which AK Jason ends up in Joker Junior Tim dimension in a very unfortunate moment.

“What's your name, kiddo?”

But not-Tim couldn't answer, he was just laughing, but he still sounded in despair, as his body was twitching, if it was still reacting to the constant shocks he was receiving before. The tall figure sighed, noticing the little boy wouldn't easily verbalize anything.

“You can't speak, but can you at least understand what I'm saying?”

He nodded repeatedly, still scared by the mysterious man, however, he didn't attack him yet, so he was safe for a while. The little clown couldn't stop smiling, and his sobbing was choked on his throat.

yesterday i spent an hour in the shower talking to myself about how I think a reverse robins au would go, mainly in the case of Tim taking Jasons place as the revived second robin. I took the Joker Junior thing and decided "Hm.. yes, this is how Tim dies."

I have many thoughts about it.

Basically, Tim's 15, has been Robin for almost two years, when his dad dies. Like in canon, Tim makes a very strategic plan which could lead to the murderers death, but Batman finds out and Tim doesn't enact it. Bruce is still mad about it, and Tim storms out the manor to go visit his dad's grave. While on the way, he gets kidnapped by the Joker and he's tortured for three weeks because Bruce thinks he's just being an angry teen giving the silent treatment. By the time he realises something is wrong and goes to find Tim, the boy is already dead. After shooting the Joker, he shot himself, and Harley Quinn is no where to be found.

Then, six months after being buried, he wakes up in his grave, right besides his father. He digs out, is found by Talia, and taken to be trained. With Jason, Ra's didn't want to heal him and Talia did it without permission, but in this au, Talia is the one who doesn't want to heal him. She thinks he's too similar to Bruce, and that she won't be able to trick him. Ra's thinks he can. He's wrong, of course.

Instead of reclaiming the name Red Hood, Tim decides to stay as Junior. After all, he was extremely mentally unstable before his death, so i think he'd still be suffering fron the torture and think Batman = bad, Joker = good. After a little while, he manages to recover a bit, but he's still mad at Bruce.

Jason forgave Bruce for not saving him, but was angry he didn't get justice.

Tim comes back to Gotham and is a lot more sneaky with his crimes. Red Hood came in guns a-blazing, straight away starting to clean Gotham up, but Junior is much more behind the scenes. If the criminals decided to do good, they'd live. It's not his fault the house they broke in to had rabid dogs squatting in it, or that their hard drives were suddenly copied and shared to everyone they knew.

Instead of attacking the new Robin, he kidnaps her instead. Sends Batman cryptic messages like "better find her soon or she'll end up like the last bird" or "you should keep a better eye on your things, Batsy". Bruce is tearing Gotham apart searching for Stephanie, thinking she's being tortured by a Joker wannabe, when actually she's just being forced to sit through slideshows about the dangers of being a child soldier and told annoying knock-knock jokes over burgers.

Rebooting/tweaking the Shattered AU!

So the Joker kidnap's Tim and tries to twist the young man into a reflection of himself. For half month Tim endures constant torture while being jacked up on Joker Toxin. It's unlike anything Tim has experienced, he's in agony and wants it to stop, but at the same time, he would rather die than let the Joker know anything.

And thus JJ is born. JJ can handle pain, in fact he finds it absolutely hilarious! He plays along with Joker, takes on his mannerisms and lethality, but in reality, JJ HATES the Joker. With every single, tiny, microscopic, fiber of his being.

So when the Joker finally presents JJ to a horrified Batfamily, he is completely unprepared for JJ’s frenzied lunge for him instead. Laughing manically, JJ manages to tear out one of Joker's eyes and stab him several times in the chest, before Dick and Jason can pull him off. Batman manages to stabilize Joker, saving his life, but JJ is not happy.

"I'm already broken Batsy!" JJ screams as he jerks against his brothers' hold on him against the ground. "Just let me KILL HIM! LET.ME.KILL.HIM!"

JJ/Tim know they are fucked up for life. There is no going back from this, so they feel they are expendable. Batman can never go against his code and JJ/Tim accept this, so to keep Bruce's hands clean, JJ will will dirty his hands instead.

So after this, every time Joker escapes Arkham, Tim has to be literally locked away. If they don't, JJ will escape and try to kill the Joker. Kon comes in with a solution and offers to take Tim with him to the Kent farm until the affair is over. With both the distances and Kon's TK, he's able to help Tim keep JJ under control. ((It also helps that Tim adores Kon and would never hurt him, thus JJ would never hurt Kon.))

Tim is in control most of the time, but JJ tends to come out when things get too intense, or life threatening. JJ is a big part of Tim's survival instinct, without him, Tim would just give up and die. So when Tim is faced with extreme pain, JJ will take over and end the situation as quickly as possible.

JJ likes Batman and the rest of the Batfamily but he also loves creeping them out. He’s a bit vindicated and brutally honest, but he will also do ANYTHING to save his family and friends, although it will be violent and horrifying.

((Tim takes on the new hero persona of Shrike. More experienced villans like, Two-Face and Penguin, handle Tim more cautiously now. They know how dangerous and unpredictable Joker can be, so pissing off a mini version of him is not good idea.))

((Two-face actually develops a fascination with Shrike, seeing how the other is also suffering from split personality disorder, but unlike him, Shrike seems to be in balance. Meanwhile Ra's Al Ghoul is planning for a way to twist Tim/JJ even, smooth the edges so to speak, take the insanity out, but keep the deadly edge in.))
