Honor student Jonas Wagner and school bully Mitch Mueller have to work on a class science project together when they discover a mysterious building behind a fence in the woods. They develop strange new powers after trespassing and are forced to face their childhood trauma and abusive parents while being followed by unknown pursuers. Together, they slowly grow closer until they realize they like each other a lot more than just friends.

If you don't see your favorite historical figure, don't fret! We've planned multiple sets of Historically Queer figures. We can't use them all up at once. :) Help ensure we can make future sets by helping us create this one!

Hey - what about [historical figure]? How could you forget [historical figure]? This is erasure!

We didn't forget, we promise - this is the first of several installments of this project. After the absolute stress of the last Kickstarter when we had 300+ different SKUs by the end of the project, we decided to take a more focused approach to Historically Queer. We attempted to provide a good cross-section of identities, and will continue to expand in future projects. Spider has a huge folder on his computer full of planned pins and reference images.  

But historically...

Yes, we know that it isn't totally proper to use today's terms to discuss people who lived a long time ago. But also, how else do we talk about our community history in a way that's understood, and celebrate our shared queerness, other than to use the words and iconography which are understandable to us now? We celebrate our shared history with the words and understandings most accessible to all of us, and we hope that by providing not just the pins but a few elementary facts about these historical figures, we'll encourage people to read more about them in their original context.

Queer Games Exhibit + Kickstarter

Hello, everyone! I haven't been able to make much pixel art this past year, but I'm super excited to share what I've been working on the past couple of months!

I've been organizing FREE PLAY! Richmond, VA's first queer video games exhibit hosted at The Iridian Gallery, the only LGBTQ-focused exhibit in the southern U.S. (more under the cut)

We're running a kickstarter campaign to help cover the costs of the exhibit. We're also hoping to secure artist honorarium anD get gameboy cartridges, zines and other merch created!

If you all could share and support the kickstarter, it would mean so so much to me!

For the past couple of months, we built custom displays for all nine of our games!! and paid for transporting, printing, everything, so that our devs could focus on their games :)

Galleries often take 50% (or more) of artists' commissions! Not only that, but making, transporting, and installing artwork can get pretty expensive! The high price point makes it really hard for artists and game devs to share noncommercial artworks. It's our mission to help mitigate these costs and make it more accessible for game devs to share their art!

Your support will go a long way to making this project sustainable! And will help many queer game devs share their work :)

I'm Jack, a sex worker activist in the UK. I’ve been translating “La Prostitution Contemporaine” for many months, a book by Léo Taxil from 1884 about prostitution in France in the time period. It’s never been translated into English before and it’s incredibly important to me that we preserve sex worker history. The book covers the experiences of sex workers in France and surrounding countries during the 1800s. It includes letters from women and girls who sold sex, in-depth discussions of courts cases surrounding brothels, data about prostitution, stories about the habits and lives of sex workers, and a lot of criticism of the Parisian police. There are large segments about male prostitution and lesbian sex workers.

It is extremely important to me that we preserve sex worker history, and I do not want this work to be lost to time. It can be made accessible to so many more people with an English translation! First look at the Historically Queer pins!

Samples of the others are on the way, and these designs are subject to tweaks and changes, but I couldn't resist making this once I found the song in the commercially-available catalogue.

So years back I wrote a couple chapters for a queer, feminist, indie dating game targeted at tweens/middle schoolers. The director of the game, inspired by a news story about a 12 year old who had been bullied to suicide, wanted to make something that would meet kids where they were at with stuff they were concerned about while also being actually fun. The game is called Longstory, and it's about exploring your identity and navigating the social difficulties (and absurdities) of friendship and dating in middle school.
