so just imagine a drunk floyd babbling on about how his shrimpy has betrayed him and how he's so hurt and upset, how could you do this to him? you were his only one and shrimpy🥹🥹

So the "Malleus and Leona" prompt inspired me to do a very silly redraw of my other favorite pair of frenemy goofballs. a player, and a pair of headphones. chi slips them on for him, so he can listen as he eases the door to his room shut. and almost immediately he recognizes the first song on the list-- and her voice. aw that's just silly. floyd laughs, horrible and loud and grating- but she's never seemed to mind it really.

VALENTINE'S DAY APPLICATION

-> They heard people murmuring and whispering about it all week; who was dating who, what kind of chocolates they would get, what kinds of gifts. It was all foreign to Lyric. They had never celebrated Valentine's Day before—didn't even know what it was until they pieced it together listening to conversations secondhand. With so much emphasis on romance and partnerships, and Lyric having little interest or prospects in either, they let most of it flow in one ear and out the other. Some people sent little flowers and candies between classes. They saw people passing around blank papers and called them date applications, and Lyric chuckled at the idea. It was cute. But they don't expect to fill one out for anyone and turn a page in their history book.

"—Did you draw something again?"

-> His smile makes them less tense than it did before, though it is still sharp. Their shoulders don't hunch up, and even if they straighten their posture still it is not the curled-up, armadillo-type anxiety they had previously. They wonder when that happened as they take the paper from him, checking it at a glance. ... and then giving it a bit more focus, since it was words, and glancing wasn't enough.

"This is... uhh..."

-> ... they feel their face get hot. It's the kind of response they have no control over and deeply wish they did, because they're sure their face is peach-pink flushed as they blink twice, seemingly uncomprehending but actually very comprehending, and flatlining, and trying not to look ridiculous with the runaway of their thoughts. Their first thought is that Floyd has probably filled these out for anyone he had the whim to. Like a party, maybe everyone would gather in the same place, and Lyric would show up to a crowd and feel their stomach in their mouth as they lingered on the outside, looking in. ... and then the thought immediately after is that Floyd knows them better than they thought before, and he wouldn't do that. The proof is written in the lines of the page: No need to go anywhere. / And im not gonna make you leave campus for it. Floyd knew Lyric didn't like crowds. And Floyd knew Lyric was skittish about being seen by others.

-> They smother the question are you sure this is what you want in their mouth, trying to be cognizant of the overthinking he warned them about. There was no reason for Floyd to go through the trouble of filling out a silly fake application just to make fun of them. ( friends. were they friends? did Lyric know enough about Floyd to consider them friends? felt safe enough? talked enough? ) Lyric thinks they've only ever read about anything to do with dates in romance novels from the school library, and don't know what is and isn't acceptable for one between friends. Was it the same as hanging out? Was calling it a date an arbitrary label? They look from Floyd, easy smile and swaying on his heels in his untidy uniform, and then back to the paper. ( think, briefly, that they're not sure how they would respond if Floyd touched them gently and expected them to ease into it. if they could relax enough around anyone to say cuddling was an option. that they know Floyd's teeth violently and between their knuckles and don't flinch, but the thought that they might catch gentle on their mouth and leave punctures on their lips is nerve-wracking, because they've never done that either. too much newness. ) They look away and pinch the paper too tight in their grip where it creases a little. Look back and try not to give in to their whirlwind thoughts or the deep anxiety that makes them dizzy.

Kalim would be pleasantly taken aback. One of the most physically affectionate dorm leader out of the seven, he himself surprises his s/o with embraces and kisses as well.

It was no different today when they came rushing from behind him and squeezed their arms tight around his body. He let out a shocked gasp but then upon realising it was simply his Jewel of the Earth, a smile flashed on his face and his arms were quick to return the embrace.

"Hahaha! You're lively today! Did something good happened?" He cheered, voice warm and loving as always. They kept their face hidden from him, but somehow he could just feel the smile on their lips as they nuzzled against him, and his heart fluttered.

They were always his source of energy. There was no way he would ever think otherwise.

"Today, let's fly on my magic carpet! Jamil said they were going to have a new bazaar open near by, I'm sure there'll be lots of food there for us to eat together!"

A soft laugh escaped their lips then as they nodded to the idea, and Kalim let out another enthusiastic cheer.

Malleus Draconia

Physical affection was one of the things this Fae had to adapt to and it was surprisingly easier than he thought it would be.

He found them extremely pleasant and soothed his nerves more than his midnight walking. If he were to be honest, he simply hadn't gotten the idea at first, humans could rarely even talk to him while remaining eye contact, so naturally he would think the same when it came to things such as hugging.

Though, he was proven wrong when his beloved would oh so casually wrap their arms around his body or lean their head against his shoulder at any given time. He thought it odd, of course he did, and even went as far as to inspect if being with him hadn't somehow caused them to be stuck in some sort of curse, but then when they would laugh it off and smile at him as genuine as he'd seen any human do, he accepted the fact they truly liked his presence beside them pretty well.

Suprises such as coming up behind him and pulling him into an embrace became a familiar sort of sport to Malleus and often time when they did it, the Fae couldn't help but chuckle in amusement. He doesn't mind them at all and sees it as a way to indicate his beloved's emotions, whether they were happy or restless, sad or angry, he could tell simply from how their embrace affected him.

Right now, they were flustered, their arms squeezing him tight as their face buried into his back. The mere heat running through their veins somehow ran through him as well, and the slightly rapid beating of their heart reverberated through his bones.

"You're flushing" He said simply, "Did something happen?"

"I passed Mr. Crewel's test"

Malleus arched his brows,curiously. "Congratulations. He must be glad as well"

He felt them press themselves even further into him, almost to the point Malleus thought they were trying to join their body with his.

"Oh yeah,really glad. So glad he had me stand in front of class while he patted my head and said, "Good, pup! Those extra classes of ours worked well to train you into a smart puppy after all."

'Ah' Malleus thought, finally understanding the situation.

"You should've seen everyone look at me! Even Deuce looked like he was going to burst out laughing!"

They lifted their head then,eyes teary yet flaring with emotions. Their lips quivered and Malleus couldn't help but smile, his hand coming up to pat them on the head.

WELL YOU SHOULD BECAUSE I HAVE SOME UPDATED DETAILS FOR IT NOW!!!!!

First, a couple changes to the original details post from last year:

Now that we know about Sheryl: Instead of a spy she was an actress, who met and married John under much less espionage-y pretenses. Unlike canon she and John kept a good relationship and stayed around up until John’s death, which is when she abandoned Gary and disappeared. Gary doesn’t see her again until Final Space becomes successful, 25 years later, and it’s unclear where she was or what she was doing during all that time. It’s Gary’s personal belief that Sheryl only cared about John in order to mooch off his rock star fame and fortune, hence leaving after he died, so he’s hesitant to let her back into his life for fear she just wants to do the same to him now.

Hugh and Gary are now the same age, both being 32. Hugh is now also shorter than Gary, at 5′10’’/~177 cm tall. Gary revels in those 4 inches/~11 centimeters he has on Hugh.

How Gary met Quinn and Hugh is slightly different. He still meets them the same night at a bar, but now at age 27. He gets drunk and tries to hijack a ship (in order to impress Quinn by making her think that it’s his), crashes it, and as a result loses/replaces his arm and gets put on house arrest for several months. During this time, Hugh having bribed someone to find out where Gary lives is the only one who comes to visit him, which is how they become best friends. Once Gary’s house arrest is finished, Hugh offers to let him move into his apartment so they can be roommates. Gary accepts and 5 years later they form Final Space.

Nightfall (who is Quinn’s identical twin sister in this AU)’s real name is now Daria, because I don’t know why I didn’t think of that the first time. Everyone still calls her Nightfall though because her real name embarrasses her. She does NOT think of herself as a Daria at all hahaha

CLARENCE! He’s a used ship salesman who sells Final Space their new tour ship, The Crimson Light, after The Galaxy One is wrecked. Ash and Fox are still his adopted kids and their origins are pretty much the same. While he’s still kind of a shady conman, I like to think he’s a bit less terrible in this AU. He wouldn’t abandon his kids and everyone else like his canon self did towards the end of season 2. Still a disaster bi though and dating Catoloupe. Also fun fact, inspired by one of @jadeyarts‘s headcanons, he’s a shapeshifter! It’s a bit difficult and unpleasant to do however, as shapeshifting requires him to shed his entire skin. Nasty.

Ava is a cyborg and The Crimson Light’s mechanic. I plan to draw her soon but in the meantime imagine a cyborg mix of Winry Rockbell and Sergeant Tamora Calhoun as for what she looks like, especially the latter because Jane Lynch. 8′)

So you might be screaming, especially now that HE IS FREED, WHERE THE HECK IS BOLO IN THIS AU???? WHERE’S OUR BIG FLUFFY TITAN BRO?????? I actually thought of what to do with him last year but forgot to include it in the original details post (whoops) but yeah, he’s the owner of a record label called Interspace Records, which The Infinity Guard (John Goodspeed’s band) was signed to! He was good pals with John and the band and still has a lot of photos of them together and music awards that they’ve won hanging up in his office. Gary often goes to him for advice and guidance, which he does his best to give. Also he’s just a regular alien now, not a Titan (Titans probably don’t exist in this AU), and much smaller, about 12 feet/~366 cm tall. He wears suits with a lot of quirky ties because even for being so powerful and wise, he’s got a silly side too as we’ve seen, heheheh.

Bolo’s Gatekeeper is now his personal Secretary at Interspace Records. Still dislikes sass.

Lord Commander is signed to a label known as, you guessed it, Invictus Records, which is owned by a rather mysterious woman who calls herself “Vicky.” I’ve already started drawing her so more on her once I finish that~❤︎

Some of Final Space’s musical influences: Queen, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, The Who, KISS, David Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Weezer and of course, Kenny Loggins! They have a very classic rock meets pop/alternative rock sound!

Some of Lord Commander’s musical influences: Metallica, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Pierce the Veil. His sound is VERY metal/punk with lots of hardcore, crazy guitar solos and dark, artistic lyrics. A true idol to all the emos and edgelords of the universe.
