Okay soooo, first time I'm doing something like this, but I wanna introduce a fave oc of mines today that I've been working on for a longtime now :)
Her name is Nadja Al Ghul-Wayne-Kent and she's a Damijon kid
Tumblr media
(Click for better quality)
@camo-wolf @paladin-of-nerd-fandom65
The name Nadja means "hope" in Arabic. My very dear friend @theredheaded-stuff was the one who helped me pick it. And her hero name is Super Canyon, which is inspired by the Canyon Wren bird
(More under the cut)
(Edited some stuff on this post now btw)
Backstory:
After being inspired by the story of how Kon was created, a secret group of no good scientists, who just love causing chaos with many of their inventions, decided one day to create a mixed clone of both Damian and Jon, thinking they can do better than Lex did, so they collected both of the boys DNA's after one of their recent battles in public and got to work. Once their experiment was supposed to be done, they saw that their machine had actually created a baby girl instead of a grown, powerful clone like they had wanted, so they were ready to dispose of her as a failed subject, but were suddenly stopped just on time by Damian and Jon who broke into the place and kicked their butts after finding out that a recently committed crime they were investigating was caused by them. When they were done, the boys found Nadja and were surprised to find out she's a clone related to them both. They decided to take her with them and made her their daughter to raise together after that.
Personality:
She's helpful, stubborn, is as intelligent as Damian is, friendly but also tough when she needs to be, observant, sometimes a little too honest about things but doesn't always mean it as rude, courageous (a trait that can be pretty helpful sometimes, but also get her into really big trouble during dangerous situations too), a prankster, and very protective of others, especially her loved ones
Abilities and skills:
She has the usual Kryptonian abilities, which are flying, super strength, superhearing, superspeed, superbreath, ice breath, invulnerablity, x-ray vision, and laser vision that's purple instead of the usual red (because Lois has purple eyes, so it's something unique that was passed onto her that way). Sometimes they don't always work though and can accidentally get out of hand too since she's still growing and learning, but Jon aways tries his best to help her get better at using and controlling them. Nadja also uses many concentrating tips from Damian too for improvement, like meditating for example and other things like that, and he helps her practice them
And because she's half Kryptonian, she also has a couple of unlocked special abilities of her own too, which is invisiblity, the ability to phase through walls and objects, plus the power to also transfer the heat of her laser vision into the palm of her hands to burn who or whatever she touches and she can also let it absorb her whole body too if she wants, which makes her even more untouchable and at the same time lets her release a strong fiery blast around herself onto enemies or incoming threats (her body glows completely purple whenever she does this and if it's just her hands, the same happens to them too). Nadja hasn't been able to properly master these special powers yet though, only one of them, which is the invisiblity one
For skills, thanks to teachings from Damian, plus Talia whenever she visits her, Nadja knows how to use a sword and fight well in combat in case her powers aren't working the way she urgently needs them to during patrols and missions
Random facts:
She calls Damian Baba and Jon Dad.
She calls Clark "Grampops" and Bruce "Grampbats". For Talia, she calls her "Grandmother" and for Lois, she calls her "Grandmama".
Her best friend is her same age Cousin Dick II, the Son of her much older Cousin Jake Grayson and his Wife Meredith Robinson. In the Batfamily (besides Damian), she's close with all her Aunt and Uncles. And for the Al Ghul's, she also gets excited whenever she visits Talia and Ra's. And while she definitely also gets along a lot with her other relatives who are in the Superfamily, the person she's most closest to there (besides Jon ofc) is Kon, due to them both being created as clones meant for evil but turned out good instead, which got them to bond even more as Uncle and Niece.
Her voice sounds like Clementine's from Telltales the walking dead games, but specifically the version of it from season 2 for the tween age she's in right now.
She has messy hair like Jon when she lets it loose. Jon is the one who always has to brush her hair whenever it gets tangled up, since the steel strength of it is just too difficult for Damian to actually handle himself.
Nadja laughs at Damian's jokes all the time since she gets his dark humor and he loves that. They always laugh a lot about it together but when Jon's around, they're Iike "You wouldn't get it" and he gets all offended.
Jon passed his love for noodles onto Najda and Damian's usually like "That's not healthy!!" And tries cooking her vegetarian meals more often or healthy ones that Talia would used to make him back when he was a kid, just so that Najda will eat real food lol. Najda also really loves the meals that comes from Damian's culture too and gets happy whenever he makes them for dinner.
For nicknames, Jon will sometimes call her "Sweetpea", "Sugar cookie", and "Tootsie pops", while Damian calls her "Habibti", "Thamin" (meaning "precious" in Arabic), and "Galbi" (which means "my heart" in Arabic)
Damian matches his outfits with Nadja all the time just like Talia would always used to do with him when he was a little kid. He does this with Jon included too and they take pictures together.
When making her hero suit, Damian was the one who helped Nadja out in drawing the designs and brainstormed ideas with her. When she had finally found one she liked and was ready to make it, Damian and Jon could've helped her sew it and everything, but they didn't have many materials that she could use or a sewing machine either, only a regular sewing kit that they use to fix up their own suits whenever they get damaged, so they let her make it with Ma's help instead at her place when they visit her and Pa again, since she actually owned a machine and also had a sewing room filled with many useful materials. When asked, Ma didn't mind letting Nadja use her stuff at all and was instead delighted about it since it would just give them the chance to spend time with eachother while doing one of her favorite hobbies together.
And next time, while having their usual Mother and Son days out together, Talia helped Damian pick out the sarong skirt for Nadja while hanging around stores, since they thought it would be nice for her to have one. Jon was the one who bought Nadja the red sneakers while shopping together with Kathy, since it reminded him of Kathy's old purple, rainbow ones, but with a twist of red thrown onto it, which also reminded him a lot of his favorite old ones that he used to always wear as a kid too. Dick and Cyborg helped her insert digital tech into her cuffs, which lets out hologram screens that let her know whenever she's over using her powers since she's still mastering them and it does plenty of other useful things for her too.
Najda was also given a mask to go with her suit at first too since she thinks it's annoying to wear glasses in her regular life everyday, but then it got lost during a fight and some villains saw her face, so she was still forced to go with the glasses route in the end anyways.
As adults, Jon's a scientist and Damian's a veterinarian. Najda likes visiting both of her Dads at their day jobs after school and doing her homework there while they work. She always promises to behave and not get in the way and if she has no work to do, she'll help them out too, which they appreciate. She also loves watching what they do and let's them happily explain their favorite stuff about the job to her. She knows a lot about taking care of animals and science because of this.
Nadja loves music and making it too. She even thinks about playing rock music for a living when she grows up. Damian and Jon support her in this and buy her the instruments she needs and they also listen to her songs when she wants to show it off to them. Because of them being in a band themselves back when they were kids, Damian, Jon, Chris, and Jake give her lessons sometimes on how to better play her instruments.
Civilians and especially interviewers always question about how they had Nadja and just assume that she's adopted or assume that just because she looks more like Damian, she's probably from a secret ex girlfriend he had before being with Jon. The last one annoys both Damian and Jon so much, especially Jon since Nadja is actually his kid too and he gets jealous at the thought of the ridiculous idea. Both him and Damian hate these rumors and just want everyone to mind their own business.

Babysitting: Dick Grayson x fem!reader
Tumblr media
A/N: there's an easter egg in this story. Let me know if you get it :D
(testing some fandoms vigilance here) :D
"Me and Kori got some business to take care of."
That freaking sentence!
Of course he and Kori had business to take care of together. Not that he was my boyfriend. not that I was the one who was always left behind with Rachel, Gar and now also Conner and Tim.
Jealous? Of course I wasn't jealous.
Not even a little. I loved those kids.
But who the hell was I in this relationship, a babysitter?!
***
Let me put it straight: I am not hero. I have zero fighting skills (maybe except my wit. quoting someone I knew: sarcasm is my only defense) and I could not hurt a fly, let alone another human. But. I am smart. I am intelligent and I was determined enough to do something more with my life and became a lawyer.  Pretty unusual career for someone who was born and raised in Gotham (even If I moved out of this hell hole after graduation).  And yet, I made it. Feeling like I was doing something right, standing up for people, defending them.
Well.
One day someone decided to put my thinking and beliefs to the test.
“Counsellor. You have a visitor.” Our new paralegal was kicking her heels nervously in front of my office.
“Ok, Amy, first of all calm down. That’s right. Deep breaths. Unless it’s Joker who came to visit me, I don’t see any reason for you to be so flustered. “ I raised an eyebrow at the girl, who all of a sudden turned red like a beetroot. “Amy?”
“I’m sorry, counsellor…..”
“How many times, do I have to tell you, you don’t need to use that title when we’re alone? You’re like what, five years younger than me?” I playfully shook my head at her
“Sorry, I …..”
“Never mind, we’ll talk about it later” a little pat on her shoulder was enough to bring her back to reality “Now. Who is there to see me?”
“Detective Dick Grayson. Bludhaven police.” Ok, now I understood why Amy was so nervous. This guy was really good looking and for a twenty-year-old that must have been a sight. I was far more reserved. In my years as a trainee solicitor I had my fair share of handsome lawyers, detectives and other officials. One way or another all of them were the same – pretty. Pretty conceited. So at this point, at the age of 25 I was not impressed solely by a lovely face.
“Well, morning detective. How can I be of help?” I reached my hand out and he shook it firmly.
“I need some information about an on-going case of yours.”
“All right. As soon as you prove to me you can get the access to the confidential records I can’t see any reason to deny it.” I shrugged and lead him into my office.
And that was how it started. One case somehow lead to another, and another and another. He might have thought he had me cornered, but I was a lawyer. My job was to see patterns and predict the outcomes of actions and behaviors. I had him figured sooner than he knew and before he realized I got him right when I wanted him when he confessed to switching out cases just to have a chance to work with me. And then, some well chosen words, two or three dates, some more or less heated kissed and we were a couple. Oh, how I loved this boy! Like crazy. And he was very eager to use that against me.
“Detective Grayson? How can I be of help to you today?” I asked with my most professional voice noticing him standing at the entrance to my office. “And how long have you been standing there?” I smirked at him.
“Long enough” he pouted “you are just glowing when you’re working you know that? You have that irresistible spark in your eyes….” he closed the door coming closer to me and crouching on the desk eyeing me carefully.
“I’m sorry, how exactly did you get here?” I tilted my head in confusion.
“You know, Amy has a soft spot for me.” He put on his most charming smile.
“Yeah I’m aware of that. Clear sign I need to hire better security.”
“Is that so?” he grabbed me so I had to raise from the chair and stand between his legs.
“I’m busy, Dick.” I  objected pointing towards the pile of documents.
“Mhm. I bet you are” his hands was now on my waist, pulling me closer, his face inches away from mine “I am too. Extremely busy….” He whispered and leaned in, closing the distance completely. I hated him. He had the audacity to show up in my office, uninvited, in the middle of the day, with all his charm and distract me from my duties. He was reckless, irresponsible and childish. And a hell of a good kisser. Just a touch of his lips on mine made me want more as I let him caress my face and my back. Only for a second though, as my rational thinking made me  pull away and smirk at his disappointed expression.
“Oh, come on, Dickie. Don’t be a child….” I ruffled his hair and sat back down “Now, shoo. I really have a lot of work to do and if you want me back home tonight…..”
“Believe me, I have a whole plan for tonigh.” His eyes turned darker with lust as he said it.
“Can’t wait then. Hope you won’t disappoint me, detective.”
***
I came home late. Really late. Absolutely shagged, hoping my boyfriend would be there to ease my stress and anxiety with just his presence, but in fact I was about to be disappointed. The lights were off, the apartment cold and empty. No matter how sad it was for me I was a bit used to him working up late. He was a detective after all. Maybe he was at some undercover operation at the moment. Calling him was not an option since it may put him in danger, so trying to shake the emotions of the day by myself I just got ready to bed and before I realized I was dozing off.
I had no idea what hour it was, but at some point in the night I was woken by the squeak of the bed on the other side and a pair of arms sneaking around me. Dick was back safe.
“Hi.” I muttered, recognizing those hands and smell and shifting my position to get closer to him, resting my head on his chest.
“Hi baby” he whispered back, kissing my forehead and running a hand through my hair.
“Work?”
“You have no idea.” He sighed deeply and I caressed his side gently, trying to make him relax, but it didn’t bring the effect I wanted.
“Are you all right?” I was now totally awake, propping myself on the elbow to look straight into those beautiful blue eyes of his “are you hurt?” concern in my voice was so audible that a flash of pain crossed his face.
“I'm fine. I’m sorry I made you worried. And sorry I woke you.”
“Don’t ever be sorry. Honestly, I could never have a good sleep knowing you are out. Remind me why I agreed to have a detective boyfriend?“ I smirked but he was not in a mood for verbal teasing.
“I love you” he whispered closing his eyes, hiding everything there was inside, all the emotions kept under lock and key.
“Dick?” now I was serious too.
“Yes?” he opened them again and looked straight at me.
“You can tell me everything. There’s no need to hide. Whatever you did or whatever happened I have my ways to get you out of trouble.”
“I know. I know. I just love you so fucking much. I… I just need you next to me now, all right? Please?”
„That I can do” I laid back down, hugging him tightly, breathing him in, but at this very moment I knew something was off. We both held to each other, but it was more desperate than loving. More “I have a secret, I can’t tell you and it's killing me” than “I want to share my secret with you.”
***
I was spending another sleepless night alone just tossing and turning in the bed. Last three days was a disaster. At first glance nothing changed between me and Dick but under the surface …. Tormented by my own thoughts, I was truly thankful when my  work phone broke the silence of the night.
“Y/L/N speaking” my voice was still hoarse, but it didn't stop me from using official tone.
“We need you here, counsellor. It’s an emergency and it requires your immediate attention.”
“On my way. Where exactly is here?”
***
Holy shit! The place was a disaster! Blood, massacred bodies, about ten injured people and two destroyed buildings. And one person accused of it all on the run.
“How could you let him escape!?” I was about to tear my hair out, but there was no time as I had to deal with the witnesses and potential accomplices taken to custody. Those who apparently were aware of their civil rights and refused to say anything without lawyer present. And Bludhaven police called me to be this lawyer. Fine, after all I had nothing else to do. “You know what, don’t answer that, just… do your freaking job and find the gangster boss who….”
Before I could even finish the sentence, said  boss fell right in front of me.
“What the….?” I muttered looking up noticing the characteristic cape. The colors were a blur but everyone knew it was Robin. I sighed deeply and rubbed my forehead. Whoever was behind that mask I should have hated him, given how many laws he was breaking on a daily basis. The truth was, however, he was making my job slightly easier. And for that, ironically, I was thankful.
***
It took me another three days after which everything dawned on me. Dick was visiting my office every day, trying to get to know what I was working on and even when I refused to give away professional secrets, I knew he gathered some information. And then, miraculously, during night, all my perpetrators and criminals were brought to  police station by no one other than Robin. Of course he himself never showed up. I would have to be blind, deaf and stupid not to see the connection.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked as soon as he stepped through my office again “and don’t give me that I don’t know what you’re talking about look. Let’s talk seriously, all right?”
“All right." he closed the door making sure it was shut tight and took a step towards me scratching his head "I’m sorry. I was worried that if you find out….”
“No.” I interrupted him.
“Sorry?” his surprised look made me use all the strength to hold back a laugh. He looked like a wigged kid.
“You don’t get to think so little of me. Did you really think I would leave? Or worse – was it the classic I was scared someone would hurt you bullshit? Dick, god damn it! I'm a lawyer. Do you have any idea how many times I got death threats? And here I am! Still alive and breathing! "
“I’m sorry.” He repeated.
“I’m also pretty case-hardened with keeping secrets, so I would never give yours away.”
“I know and….” He looked down, embarrassed and defeated under the weight of my arguments.
“I got a simple conclusion here: you are an idiot. Foolish, egoistic, inane….”
“Ok, that’s enough….” He stood up abruptly, making me shut up by kissing me, pulling me close so all my mind would get blurry and distracted by his toned chest, muscles and the way he was holding me, like his (or mine) life depended on it.
“Nice try, Grayson” I said pulling away too quickly for him to enjoy being in control of the situation.
“Please, don’t leave me. I can’t lose you.”
“You’re only proving my point here.  I'm not going anywhere. But no more keeping me in the dark, all right? I told you once - I can keep you out of trouble, not the other way round. After all, you are a wanted vigilante.”
“Whatever you say” he pulled me in a kiss again and this time I let him. But still, he was about to apologize properly when we were alone.
***
From then on, everything went quick. Rachel, Gar, Kori. Titans. San Francisco. Gotham again (meeting Batman was a bit weird, but enjoyable experience), Dick dying and coming back to life (I almost killed him for that when he magically resurected). Conner, Tim. Wild ride. Wild. Oh, and somewhere in the meantime Dick ditched Robin in favor of Nightwing. Well, he looked hot in this black and blue outfit and I couldn't...... back to the point!
But I didn’t mind as long as Dick kept his promise of not keeping me away. At least for as long as in his own words it started to get really dangerous. When he reopened the Titans tower, training Gar, Rachel and Jason, I was there, watching over them, helping them crack cases and even joining on the field. I felt like a part of a team. But slowly, especially after Jason left (from the time perpective I think he was the only one to ever understood how it felt like to be cut off) my role was more like a caregiver. I was there to take care of the wounds, to throw a joke or defuse tension. Of course, I was still giving some advice, some tricks on how to play bad guys psychologically etc. but I knew I was being omitted. Dick was more distant, more tensed and more reserved than before, not that I blamed him. But I missed him. I accepted his vigilante lifestile, never complaining, but I wanted to feel like he still needed me to be his. His girlfriend, equal to him (but maybe smarter) and not someone to look after a bunch of kids (who I loved, but still).
Me and Kori has some business to take care of.
Right.
In a while he was always doing something with Kori. I liked her, truly, we were pretty good friends, but it was not right. I mean, I get that, she was a freaking fire princess, gifted with supernatural powers, all confident and fierce. All I had was logical thinking, connecting facts, fast reacting, resourcefullnes and imagination. It was more than enough to be a lawyer, but apparently not to be a part of the Titans team.
I wasn't jealous of Kori, really. I didn't envy her, I was just sad that all my good traits weren’t enough for Dick to consider me a valuable member of the team. Never letting me into real action anymore, never allowing me to train with the rest, even Tim, who wasn’t exactly skilled with his gear. Always working with Kori. And I knew confronting Dick about it would end up the same way as years ago. I can’t risk you getting hurt. I don’t want to see you in pain. I’m only focused on you when you are out in the open. Well, I understood his point of view, one way or another he was right, can’t deny that, but he could not possibly be there for me all the time. I had to be able to be more than just an easy to hurt one.
“You good?” oh, now he was realizing something was happening. Great job, Sherlock.
“No, I’m not” I always prided myself of being honest and direct in my communication with him.  Boys can be so oblivious at times.
“Do we have to talk about it?” He looked at me carefully, his eyes begging me to postpone this conversation since he absolutely had to go investigate.
“Yes.” I nodded “Later. Now go.”
“Thank you.” He sighed and kissed my temple lovingly. I missed that.
“Go deal with that business of yours and come back to me. In one piece.”
“Promise.”
"Take care of him, ok?" I send Kori a sad look and she just nodded understanding everything he couldn't.
***
“Hey, brief, are you ok?” Conner used the nickname steming from the times I forgot knocking me out of my trance. Eventually, I ended up back at Star Labs with Conner and Tim, watching them fight against each other. Or rather Conner standing in place and taking poorly aimed Tim’s punches without flinching in the slightest.
“Take a guess.” I muttered “you should aim a bit lower, Tim”
“What?” the newly-appointed Robin looked at me confused.
“Lower” I emphasized “Conner may be superboy, but he’s still half human. And humans have weak points, so aim lower.”
Tim shrugged in a whatever  manner, but stuck to my advice and to both, his and Conner’s surprise the latter hissed in pain.
“What the…..?” Superboy gasped turning his gaze on me. So did Tim and Bernard.
“Do you want to tell us something, Y/N?” the scientist asked “are you hiding some supertalents?”
“Just observational skills. Mixed with experience in medical records during my lawyer times.”
“That is interesting. You see anything else to use against Conner?”
“Wait. What? Use against me? I did not sign up for this!” Conner protested watching as my eyes twinkled in excitement. Now, I had my chance to prove to them I was more than met the eye.
***
“What is going on here?!”
“Oh, hey, Dick, your back. How was your business?” I brushed the sweat from my forehead and smiled at him. I couldn’t remember last time I was so happy and fulfilled. For the last two hours I was sparring with the boys under Bernard’s watchful gaze. It was exhilarating. “She’s the business I suppose.”
“Not voluntarily.” The pink-haired girl smirked “so you’re the girlfriend he was worried about on the way here?”
“I was not worried…..”
“I’m sorry about him. He can be …. Intense…” I cut Dick off. "I'm Y/n?"
“Tell me about it” she rolled her eyes “I’m Jinx.”
“The witch? Can you show me any spell to …..”
“All right. Y/n, I think we need to have that talk now.” my boyfriend, if that was still the case grabbed my hand and started dragging me away.
“It was nice to meet you, Jinx. I’ll catch you up later!” I managed to say in her direction before Dick picked me up and threw me over his shoulder still walking away. "Put me down, now!"
***
“What were you doing there?”
“It turns out, I'm pretty good at finding opponents weakness and turning it against them”
“Tim being the opponent?” Dick laughed
“Conner, in fact. And don;t be condescending.”
“What?!”
“Mhm. Did you know that he has a soft spot just right under his belly button? I might have bruised him with the impact I put there.”
“You did what?”
“Yeah. So many years of wasted potential." I blew a raspberry "And that’s because of someone who has been treating me like a babysitter for the past couple weeks.”
“You mean me? I never…..” I cleared my throat suggestively and it made him hesitate “ok, maybe I did. But you never said a word!”
“Because I knew it would lead to fighting with you. And despite everything I hate seeing you lose those arguments. Come on, you always surrender in verbal sparring.”
“Y/N….”
“It’s always you and Kori going everywhere together, dealing with stuff together, cracking cases together. I felt like I wasn't needed anymore. Apart from watching over kids.”
“Because they trust you. You are a role model for them.”
“One of the role models, Dick. Just one. And that’s nice. I just want you to realize I am so much more than just a bystander.”
“I don’t…..”
“Blah, blah, blah. I know all your arguments inside and out. Hurt, pain, loss… Please."I rolled my eyes at him "I’m good, all right? I want to learn to fight.”
“Are you jealous of Kori? There’s no need.”
“You idiot” I smacked his head. Lightly but he still hissed and looked at me with hurted expression. “You don’t get a word I'm saying! I am not jealous of her. I'm furious beacuse of you treating me different than anyone else!"
“Because you are the one I love!”
“I love you too." I said, more sofly, more gently and locked my hands on his neck, playing with the hair on his nape. That little gesture always made him relax and this time was no different as he hummed in pleasure "but I never told you to stop fighting, did I?"
"No...." he leaned into my touch so just to tease him I withdrew my hands. "Please, don't stop" soft, almost inaudible whisper got me melting "I missed that....."
"So, you agree with me that you've been pushing me away."
"I never said that and ....." I kissed him before he said anything else. Oh, the way it turned him on instantly.... Out of instinct his hands found their place on my waist holding onto me, caressing my skin, bringing me closer. Clearly he did miss me. I almost gave up, so lost in his touch, his warmth, wanting more and more and ......
"So, you agree with me....." I pulled away, not letting him get away with answer this easily.
"Yes, I fucking agree with everything you are saying." He rested his forehead on mine. "I'm sorry. I never meant to push you away. Never meant to make you feel like you didn't belong. I don't know what I would do without you."
"Hm, I know" I hummed "you would be absolutely lost. And probably dead. More than once."
"Mhm" he muttered. "Please I need you. You are like the only stable thing in my life...."
"I'm always here, Dick" I hugged him tighly, knowing well enough he was on the verge of breaking from the last weeks' stress and pressure and in desperate need of comfort and warm embrace "I'm always here. But I don't want to be a liability, ok? Or a housemother."
"Ok....." he held me tighter, not ready to let go.
"Let me train. I won't go against you, but please...." I kissed his temple, not to make him break, but just to assure him I was going to be fine. That we were going to be fine.
"Ok....." he chuntered "I'm tired....."
"I know, Dickie, I know. But you are not alone in this mess, babe. You are not alone."
Guess I was babysitting again. but this time, out of my own volition, and the fact that I had a choice in the matter made me feel good. After all, he was my baby.

Camp Justice - Chapter 1: The Lecture
Tumblr media
Back at Mount Justice two hours after the Caedmus Incidence…
The five teens huddled together near the zeta tubes as the League discussed the night's events. Despite being successful during the mission they were never meant to be part of, anxiety plagued their thoughts. The teens knew they had overstepped a line by not only disobeying the League's direct orders but also telling them to either get on board with their plan or get lost. Neither action was acceptable, but they knew they could do nothing to sway the teens' minds. However, the League's compliance wasn't going to stop them from giving them an earful and more once they dispersed to their respective locations.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Wally asked.
"The mission obviously" Cal answered matter of factly.
Wally narrowed his eyes at her, "Oh yeah, and what makes you so sure of that?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe it could be the fact that they literally said they were going to do that BEFORE leaving us here"
"Well duh, of course I knew that. I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention"
It was her turn to glare at him"…You know Wally… I think you might wanna get checked out. You seemed to have lost a few brain cells after getting knocked out"
Dick couldn't help the giggle that escaped which in turn increased Wally's annoyance.
"You little-"
"Quiet!" Kaldur firmly but quietly inserted to cease their bickering, which did anything but that as Wally continued to talk.
"You know Kaldur, you've been pretty silent. Not that it is not normal, I just thought you would give us words of encouragement before we walk into our inevitable doom"
He thought about it for a moment before responding, "I am certain we are overthinking our current situation, I doubt the punishment would be as severe as you are making it"
"Mmm I don't knoow, maybe not for you but some of us might not be so lucky *cough* Robin *cough* Crow"
"While I acknowledge our mentors may have a different way of dealing with our punishment we most certainly will not be walking into our "inevitable doom". Especially those of us who have stricter mentors, right Robin and Crow?"
Kaldur turned to look at them when he didn't receive an immediate answer and noticed they seemed lost in thought.
He cleared his throat before repeating his question, " Right Robin and Crow?"
"Hm? Oh Yea, totally", Cal answered unconvincingly then turned to Dick to whisper "You don't think he's going to tear us a new one when we get back to the cave, do you?"
As though Batman had heard her whispers, he turned his head to glare at the two.
"He's definitely not going to do that" He sarcastically responded.
Their conversation was cut short when the League made their way over to them. Each Leaguer took their team member home with the Batfamily being the last to go.
Dick and Cal shared an uneasy look as Batman input the information to send them back to the cave. At this point, they were considering staying at Mount Justice with Superboy but decided against it knowing it would only prolong the long awaited lecture.
The "ride" to the cave was short and the teens were still met with a silent Bruce. Dick decided enough was enough and tried to break the silence.
"Sooo, how was the meeting?"
Silence
"That bad, huh?"
Silence
Cal elbowed her brother and harshly whispered, "What is wrong with you? Are you trying to provoke him??"
"I don't see you coming up with any bright ideas"
"That may be true but at least I have some common sense"
"Is that so?" Dick asked in a mocking tone.
"As a matter of fact yes"
"What about that incident that happened last week with the Penguin?"
"We don't talk about that"
"Well if you're gonna go the common sense route, I really don't see why not"
"Grayson you aggravate my very sou…."
Bruce's grip on his chair tightened as he listened to the two whisper amongst themselves or at least try to. I mean did they really think he wouldn't be able to hear them? With all the training he put them through they should at least know how to have a conversation discretely especially if the person they're discussing is literally ten feet in front of them. He shook his head as a way to dismiss those thoughts. Right now he needed to focus on how to actually talk to them. Regardless of what some may think of him, he doesn't want to break their spirits or tear them a new one (yes Cal, he did in fact hear your whispers… and everything else). He just wants them to realize that their actions always have consequences, whether it was positive or negative. With that in thought, he turned his chair around in time to see Cal attempting to put Dick in a headlock but stopped the moment she felt his glare on the back of her head. Both quickly detangled their limbs and stood up with an uncomfortable smile.
After a brief stare down Bruce finally spoke.
"You two were given strict orders to stay put. Not only did you disobey them but you also put yourselves and your teammates in a situation that could've ended badly, very quickly."
"We were successful with the mission. We actually did good! Why can't you just believe we're stronger than you think!" Dick argued.
"It's not about believing."
Cal stayed quiet which was uncommon for her but she knew this was a battle they weren't going to win.
"Yes, it is! You always leave us with the small things while you get to have all the fun. What was even the point of training us??"
"You knew what you were getting yourselves into the moment you decided to join me. You are to do as I say, nothing more nothing less."
"We know but-"
"No! You don't! Because if you did you wouldn't have done what you did!"
The two looked down in shame knowing what he was saying was true.
Bruce sighed, "Look, I know you both were only trying to help but there's a reason why we don't let you join certain missions. I can't-" He paused to take a shaky breath. "We can't lose you guys. So if that means making you hate us then so be it."
Bruce wasn't known to show his emotions outwardly for many reasons. The fact that he almost slipped up made Cal and Dick second-guess their actions but that doesn't mean they changed their minds.
Bruce straightened up, "With that being said, the League and I have decided that while we acknowledge the need for a new team, we must be sure you are properly trained to handle that responsibility." The two lit up. Is the League actually listening to them for once?
"Starting July 1st you will begin your training at an undisclosed location with other young current and soon-to-be members."
"Undisclosed location?" Cal asked.
"Yes, no one but the League knows where it is. Your hearing and sight will be restricted by Martian Manhunter just to ensure you don't attempt to figure it out."
"We would never do something so diabolical. We actually follow the rules. Can't say the same for the rest."
"Mhm mhm" said Dick while nodding along.
Batglare activated
"You know that doesn't actually work on us"
Batglare continued
"She's right, we're not kids anymore."
Batglare intensified times 10
"I- We- We'll shut up now"
"As I was saying none of you will know the location, just what it looks like on the inside. You will go through weeks of intense training and the Leaguers and I will determine if you are in fact ready to join the new team."
"So it's like a summer camp but on steroids"
Bruce rolled his eyes, "If that's how you want to think of it. Just know that if you don't meet our standards then you will NOT be joining the team. Is that clear?"
They tried their best to hold in their excitement. Summer camps are fun but a summer camp for superheroes was even better. They couldn't wait till they got there wherever there was. Speaking of…
"I get that we can't know where it's located but can we at least know what it's called?"
"Camp Justice"
"Doesn't sound very intimidating if you ask me. With our training, it'll probably be a breeze. Right Batman?"
"Hmph" was the only response they got before he entered the elevator.
Cal stood there flabbergasted, "I know he did not just 'hmph' me, who does he think he is?"
"Your boss"
"Boss or not, I don't get paid enough to deal with his sass"
"You don't get paid at all"
"Your point?"
Dick rubbed his temples, "Why do you always try to pick a fight with me?"
"Why do you always make it so easy?"
He narrowed his eyes at her, "Anyways, we have three days before we have to leave. I can probably hack the computers to see exactly where this place is."
"What for?"
"Do you really want to go to place where you have no idea of its location?"
"Hm good point boy wonder," She said as she stood next to him as he worked the computers.
"Now if I can just bypass this security wall then we'll be good to g-"
"And what exactly do you two think you're doing?"
The two froze in their place as they heard the familiar voice of their beloved butler.
"Uhh checking the weather for tomorrow," Dick said with an unconvincing grin.
"Lady Cal."
"We were checking the computers for the location of the camp Batman is sending us to."
If there was anyone who could get an answer out of her by just asking it was Alfred (and her mom but that's a different story).
"And why are we doing that? I do believe Master Bruce specifically said you were not allowed to know."
"Because curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back"
Alfred raised an unimpressed eyebrow, "Go upstairs and eat your dinner."
"But-"
"No buts. You need to relax before you leave."
"So you do know something about it, don't you? C'mon Alfred, please give us a hint."
"You should by now your puppy dog eyes have no effect on me. Now go."
They grumbled about unfairness as they made their way to the elevator.
Alfred turned to look at the computer, "Besides, no amount of hints will prepare you for what's to come…"

SUPER-BOYFRIEND; wally west
•wally brings his girlfriend to meet his superhero friends
Tumblr media
“are you sure they’re gonna like me wally?” i undid my hair for the hundredth time.
wally smiled from behind me. he took the hair tie from my fingers and with his soft fingers he tied it up himself. “they’ll love you baby.” he leant his head down and kissed the nape of my neck “you look beautiful. now let’s get going okay?”
i nodded and let wally put his arm tightly around my waist. i prepared for him to speed away, knowing i usually get nauseous on the long trips.
-
i felt my heels click on the ground as wally placed me down. we automatically intertwined our fingers as we stared at the group of heroes in front of us. wally brought up our connected hands and kissed my knuckles “you ready babe?” he asked.
i tried to show some confidence as i nodded. “oh there’s wally!” i heard a voice cherp. the girl speaking had freckles and reddish-brown hair. from wally’s stories and photos i’ve seen, i was aware that was megan aka miss martian.
“i want to go home now” i whispered to wally. now, the four friends sitting at the table looked towards our direction, all smiling.
wally, who let out a chuckle shook his head at me “i’ll sit through each and every episode of gilmore girls with you if you do this y/n.”
this bastard i thought as a smiled formed on my face “fine.” i gave wally a peck on the cheek before he began to walk towards his friends with the widest smile.
“hello everybody” he dragged out the ‘hello’ “this is my lovely girlfriend, y/n, n/n this is artemis, megan, connor, and dick.” he pointed to each of his friends.
“hey.” they all smiled and waved. i said hello back and wally slid out a chair for me to sit down. you sat between wally and artemis, dick sat on the other side of wally, then was connor and back to megan who sat on the other side of artemis.
“well y/n, so tell about how wally has been treating you? i swear if he messed up i’m gonna beat his ass.” artemis smiled at me but glared daggers at wally.
i laughed at this and shook my head “wally’s been treating me better than amazing. he leaves time for his hero work then plenty of time for me. he’s honestly amazing.
megan awe’d and artemis and connor leaned back in their chairs with satisfied smiles. dick gave his best friend a pat on the shoulder as a way of saying “she’s perfect for you, don’t fuck it up.”
“awh babe, you’re too good for me.” wally pouted all which made me blush from the tiny bit of embarrassment and the look on wally’s face.
“don’t make me regret saying it wally.” i pointed a finger at him. wally placed his hands up in defense but his smile never faded.
“really though, i might take y/n here from you.” artemis winked at me. i laughed and turned back to wally who now had a (false) scared look. he grabbed ahold of my chair and pulled me closer to him
“artemis back off from my girlfriend.”
“never.”
“okay let’s stop this before someone ends up getting thrown into the table and we are forced to pay for it. again.” dick chuckled nervously, putting his hand slightly out so nobody gets ideas.
“again?” i asked with wide eyes “this has happened before?”
“well yeah, the throwing each other into tables part happened a few times. once was me throwing wally into a table, the next was dick somehow throwing me into a metal table.”
i had an amazed look on my face as i sharply turned my head towards wally “why did you never tell me about this?”
“it was embarrassing.”
“—oh it was hilarious—“
“shut up connor.”
“you guys have to tell me more stories about wally, clearly he doesn’t tell me enough of the juicy stuff.” i folded my hands and kicked my feet under the table like a giddy child.
“baby no, don’t let them do this.” wally buried his head into my shoulder embarrassed. i patted his adorable red hair in fake sympathy.
“you can keep your head here but nothing is stopping me from hearing some embarrassing stories about you.”
“i have so many for you.” dick chuckled ominously.
“oh me too!” followed up megan.

Masked Love (Part 10)
Pairings- Jason Todd x OC; Dick Grayson x Platonic!OC
Warnings- Violence, guns, cursing
Summary- When the city goes to hell, Elana steps in to try and regain some control. An old foe create chaos as Elana tries to take matters into her own hands while saving the ones she loves.
Word Count- 5141
“You have got to be kidding me,” I groaned as a broadcast came onto the small video monitor in the abandoned building me, Dick, and Conner were holed up in.
“Hello, Gotham. This is Red Hood, coming to you live from the most exclusive spot in town,” Jason said in the video. He panned the camera around, showing the Batcave. “For too long, this city has been at the mercy of criminals. And I’m not talking about the Penguin, and the Riddler, and the Joker. I’m talking about the ones who pretend to help, but only make things worse.” I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes. He was going to get it.
“No way,” Conner said.
“First it was Batman, now it’s the Titans,” Jason continued. “Hypocrites who feed off your terror in pursuit of glory and they turn Gotham into a city of carnage. There’s a new savior in town. First thing I’m going to do is burn the trash. You hear me Nightwing?” Conner and I turned to Dick. “You’re public enemy numero uno… But not for long. Meet me at midnight. You know the place. It’s time for us to finish this.” With that, the transmission cut. Dick turned and made a beeline for the exit. Conner and I followed.
“He’s right. Time to finish this,” Dick said.
“I’m sorry, you can’t be serious,” I scoffed.
“I am. This needs to stop,” Dick replied.
“We’ve got to get back to Wayne Manor,” Conner said.
“We can’t just burst in there. That’s what he wants,” I pointed out.
“That’s what he expects,” Dick added. “We need to break through the security system remotely and I can do that at Wayne Enterprises.” He turned to me. “Elana, get out there and be my eyes and ears.” He turned to Conner. “Stay here.”
“Are you talking to me or Krypto?” Conner asked with an edge in his voice.
“Both.” I stood there awkwardly.
“So, I’m good enough for getting groceries, but not this?” Conner exclaimed.
“I need you to stay here. I’ll see you when I get back,” Dick brushed him off.
“Hey!” Conner gabbed Dick’s arm, spinning him around. I stood back, ready to jump in. “Blackfire was shot! I’m not gonna stay here and do nothing.”
“Look, our best chance of connecting with Blackfire is through that radio. I need you to be here if they call,” Dick said. Conner didn’t reply, but he didn’t remove his hand. “Conner, I need you to let go of my arm.” After a second, he did. “Be here when I get back.” I gave Conner a reassuring look before hurrying after Dick.
“Why can’t we come with?” I asked.
“I need Conner manning the radios and I need you to see what’s going on in the streets. Besides, I can handle getting into Wayne.”
“What if I go to the Manor? I could get in and Jason wouldn’t touch me,” I said.
“Crane’s probably there. I doubt he’d let you off easy. And like I said, I need you in the streets.”
“I think Conner thinks you don’t trust him,” I said, switching the subject.
“I do,” Dick said.
“Don’t tell me, tell him.”
“Elana, we don’t have time.” He brushed past me, making me huff in annoyance.
“You know, this is exactly what Bruce used to do that made you mad. You’re being a hypocrite,” I said.
“Hey, I’m-“
“I get it, really. This is a terrible time with Crane and Jason and the drugs, but you’re the leader of this team. Step up and act like it,” I finished, walking away. Dick didn’t try to stop me. “I’m sorry about him,” I said to Conner once I got back.
“Why are you apologizing? You’re not the one being a jerk,” Conner sighed.
“I’ve been cleaning up after him for years, I do this a lot.” I shrugged. I went and grabbed my duffle bag. “I’m supposed to go patrol the streets. I’ll see you later, but if you need anything, call me.” Conner nodded, turning back to the radio. I sighed and turned to the exit.
—————————
I crouched down on top of the rooftop of Crime Alley, stalking a drug dealer as he approached a couple of kids. His jacket was bulging, meaning he was about to give these high schoolers more drugs than could fit in the backpacks they were carrying. That was a lot. As he stood in front of the kids, one of them began to pull out a wad of cash. I jumped down and landed behind the dealer.
“Selling to kids?” I said. “I’m disappointed.” The dealer whipped around and the second he did, I punched him in the face. He went down, bags of who-knows-what falling out of his jacket.
“You b-“
“Ah, ah. There are kids around. No profanity,” I tutted, cutting him off. I kicked his head down into the ground and he was out cold. “Now,” I turned to the boys, “care to explain why a couple teenagers are buying a crap-ton of drugs?” The stood there, speechless. “Hello? I’m talking to you two.”
“Uh… we-we…” one started, gulping.
“Do you see the city? Everyone is taking drugs. We thought we’d get ahead of the curve,” the other shot at me, crossing his arms.
“And that’s why the city is dying. You think adding more addicts to the mix will make it any better?” I asked. He didn’t respond. “That’s what I thought. Now leave and don’t let me catch you buying again.” With that, they scurried off. I huffed, rolling my eyes.
“You’re no Titan, but you certainly are one of those masked freaks,” a voice said from behind me.
“And you must be a very brave soul to approach a “masked freak”,” I sighed, turning around. He was a tall man with dark eyes and a gun in his hand. He was at the entrance of the alley. “How much water have you had today?”
“Eight cups a day, just like my doctor recommended.” He grinned.
“Delightful,” I muttered. “How ‘bout you put that gun down and we talk this out?”
“Sorry, I gotta protect my city,” he said, clicking the safety off. In the blink of an eye, I threw one of my daggers at the gun, knocking it out of his hand. He let out a pained scream and clutched his hand.
“You should leave. You seem like you need some sleep,” I said. He went for the gun on the ground, but I quickly shot an arrow through his hand. He cried out again. “Come on, man,” I groaned. “I’m giving you an out. Now run along before the next one goes through your eye.” Finally listening, he ran.
A buzzing from my gauntlet caught my attention, and I opened it. The police scanner had a call coming in about a break in at the local pharmacy. Sighing, I adjusted my quiver strap before heading to the location.
About halfway there, I got another alert, this time from my personal security system. Someone was in my apartment, but I couldn’t tell who. They were just a dark shadow. I muttered a curse under my breath. I could go stop a potential threat to the city, or a potential problem for me. I took another look at my camera to see the figure was now sitting in my island chair. Though I couldn’t see who it was, they had the build of a woman and was holding something I recognized to be a knife. In an almost malicious way, the figure waved. Whoever this was clearly was waiting for me. That made my decision.
I continued on my way to the pharmacy, the dark figure in my living room in the back of my mind. I shook my head to clear it as I got to the rooftop across from the pharmacy. There were three cars sitting just outside and another five in the parking lot across the street. I wasn’t sure if all of those cars were part of this, but I couldn’t rule it out.
I dropped down onto ground level and crept toward the back entrance. I strung my bow and kicked open the door, ready to release the arrow at the first sign of movement. The room was clear, but it was just a storage room. What worried me was that, though the room was full of prescriptions and medications, it seemed to be untouched. Why break into a pharmacy and not steal drugs?
Noises came from outside the door. Harsh voices and bangs that clearly weren’t good noises. I peeked through the crack between the door and the wall. From what I could see, which was very little, was a lot of bodies and guns in their hands. I couldn’t tell how many were there because of my limited view and lack of light. What alarmed me the most was the two figures crouched behind the counter. Hostages. This whole thing just got even more complicated.
“Are we in over our heads? What if we all get arrested?” I heard one male voice ask.
“Red Hood wouldn’t let that happen. We’re just helping,” another answered.
“He said the Titans are the problem. If this works, we could eliminate one of them and be in Red Hood’s favor,” a woman added. They were doing this to attract a Titan’s attention? They’d be disappointed when they see it’s me. I whistled softly, positioning myself on the side of the door.
“Did you hear that?”
“Dude, you’re being paranoid.”
“No I swear to god, I heard something.”
“If you’re so sure, go figure it out.” I heard footsteps coming my way and curled my hands into fists, ready to strike. He opened the door and I grabbed him, landed a perfect punch to his jaw, and shut the door with my foot. While he was off balance, I smashed his head into the wall twice, effectively knocking him out.
“Tom?” his friend asked from outside the door. “Whoever you are, come out and we won’t hurt anyone.”
“Do you promise?” I asked in a mocking tone. The footsteps grew louder and greater in number.
“Who are you?” another demanded.
“Batman,” I snickered. I rolled a smoke pellet through the door crack and it burst, covering the room in smoke. I jumped out of my hiding spot and rammed into the first guy, knocking him into another. I sent a flying kick at the guy next to him and swept another’s legs. Gunshots rang out around me, and I did my best to dodge stray bullets, though I could only really pray for a miracle in this situation. I first came out of the smoke, directed at my face. I ducked under it and caught it before jerking it to the side with a snap. I threw the victim into another, causing bothering to hit the floor.
From there, it was a mess of fists and bullets. I proceeded to kick the perps into each other and into walls. I had most of them down when something clicked behind me.
“Don’t move,” a shaky voice threatened.
“Or what? You’re gonna shoot me?” I laughed. I threw my elbow back into the gun as it went off and punched the guy in the face. He went down hard. I kicked the last couple guys in the faces and headed to check in on the hostages. “Are you guys okay?” I asked, offering my hand. The woman took it and nodded. The man was more hesitant to trust me, but ended up taking my hand anyway. “Call the police,” I instructed.
As they did that, I walked over to one of the men on the ground who was still conscious. I pulled him up by the collar and slammed him into the wall.
“You did all this to get my attention?” I asked.
“We wanted a Titans,” he stammered.
“Who said you didn’t get one?” I replied. “Red Hood isn’t someone to idolize. Tell your friends that if I see even one of you pulling anything like this again, I’ll come for all of you.” I slammed him into the wall one time before letting him drop to the ground. I turned back to the workers. “I have somewhere else to be, but the police should be here soon. If any of them try anything, just punch them.” Leaving it at that, I headed out the back door. As I began heading toward my apartment, I patched into mine and Jason’s private comm channel. “Hood?”
“Look, if you’re checking in to yell at me, I’m really not in the mood,” he responded.
“Like you would listen to me,” I scoffed. “I just ran into some of your fanatics. They took a pharmacy hostage to get a Titan’s attention. You’ve caused quite the commotion.”
“You say it like I did it on purpose,” he huffed.
“You sound tired.”
“I am.”
“That leads me to assume you’re not the one sitting in our apartment,” I said.
“There’s someone in our apartment?” He sounded more alert.
“I think they’re there for me. I’ll deal with it.”
“I’m on my way,” he said.
“No, it’s fine. I got it,” I assured him.
“Lanes, there’s only one kind of person that can get past our security,” Jason warned.
“Code names, idiot. I’m in the field,” I hissed.
“My bad, Huntress,” he said sarcastically. “I think I need to come back you up.”
“I need to do this alone,” I said. I was at the fire escape that led to my room.
“Fine, just keep your comm line open. If anything happens, at all, I’m coming to get you,” Jason sighed.
“I’ll be fine,” I said. “I’m going in.”
“Please be careful,” was the last thing he said. I put in my passcode to the window lock and it popped open, letting me slip inside. My feet hit the carpeted floor without a sound and I crept toward my living room, holding a dagger.
“You don’t have to lurk, my love. This is your own home.” I huffed in annoyance and relaxed slightly.
“Don’t call me that,” I said, walking into the living room area. Talia al Ghul sat on a bar stool in the kitchen, flipping a dagger in her hand.
“Why? Does it bring up past memories?”
“I’m pretty sure I’ve heard you call B that.” I pulled down my hood and took off my mask.
“You’re the only one I’ve ever called love. You liked it when you were younger.”
“That’s because you were the adult figure in my life at that point that didn’t beat me with a stick every time you saw me. Don’t get me wrong, you did it a lot, just not every time.”
“It made you better,” Talia said simply.
“Okay, enough of that. Why are you bothering me?” I asked.
“I didn’t mean any unpleasantness,” she said.
“Uh huh,” I said sarcastically, crossing my arms.
“I’m here on behalf of my father and the rest of the League,” she said.
“Then you should just leave now.”
“We have an offer to make you.” She set down a file on the table and I knew what was coming. “Take out the target and we’ll leave you and everyone you care about alone.” I lifted my eyebrow before hesitantly reaching for the Manila folder. “I’m sure you’ve already thought about taking this one out.” The cold eyes of Jonathan Crane greeted me as I opened the file. Even on paper, he looked like a stoner.
“Why do you want me to kill Crane?” I shut the folder.
“He’s become a potential problem,” she answered.
“Is that a fancy way of saying you needed someone I wouldn’t mind killing to try to tempt me back into the League? I know your game. No thanks. You can leave now.”
“We’re not trying to do anything. We simply want Crane taken care of,” Talia tried to argue.
“Talia, I’m not gonna ask you again. Get out. Now,” I demanded.
“I’m coming to you,” Jason’s voice chimed in from my comms. I wanted to respond to tell him no, but I didn’t want Talia to know I was on comms with him. Instead, I turned my comms off.
“You realize this is your chance to protect the people you love. Probably the last chance you’ll be offered. It’s selfish to decline,” she said.
“Then I guess I’m selfish. But let’s be honest, the League doesn’t make assassins like it used to, so there isn’t much to worry about.”
“You sound awfully sure of that for someone who hasn’t part of the League for seven years.”
“Fine. Tell me if I’m wrong. Your father won’t lift a finger unless it’s his life or death, you aren’t really much of a threat, your sister isn’t around, Deathstroke is too dead to work for you, Rictus sucks, and Lady Shiva is someone I’ve beat multiple times.”
“You’re arrogant.”
“No, I’m honest. Nothing you threaten to do scares me nor worries me.” There was a pause.
“Very well,” she sighed, straightening her stance. “I truly hope we don’t meet again, for your sake.”
“Me too.” I locked my eyes onto hers with a harsh, cold look in them. She didn’t try to say anything else, just simply turned and walked out the door. “Asshole,” I muttered once she was gone.
“Jay?” I asked into my comms after turning them back on.
“Are you okay? Your comms went out,” he sounded scared.
“I turned them off. I was in control of the situation. Talia’s gone,” I sighed.
“Did she hurt you?”
“No, Jay. I swear I’m fine.”
“I’m just checking. I don’t trust Talia as far as I can throw her,” he sighed.
“Hey, Jay?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“Can we meet? My room at the Manor?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Crane’s here and he’s not exactly your biggest fan,” Jason said.
“Please, Jay. I have to grab something,” I pleaded.
He hesitated, but eventually sighed. “Fine, but we stay in your room.”
“I’ll be there in a minute.”
A few minutes later, I arrived at the Manor and climbed in through the window. Jason was sitting on my bed.
“Hey,” he greeted, standing up. I echoed him as I took off my hood and mask and unzipped my jacket, throwing it onto the bed. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m just tired,” I muttered, collapsing into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me in response and kissed the top of my head. “So much is going wrong and I keep trying to fix it, but I just can’t. I’m pretty sure I’m just making it worse.”
“You’re not making things worse. None of this is your fault,” Jason reassured me.
“Jay, please, call this off. This stupid thing with Dick. It’s just going to irritate everyone. Nothing’s gonna happen,” I pleaded, pulling back enough to look him in the eye.
“I can’t do that, Lanes, you know I can’t,” he sighed.
“Why not?”
“I can’t back out. All of Gotham saw the announcement and Crane would lose what’s left of his mind if I just dropped it.”
“Screw Jonathan Crane. Let’s just disappear. Tonight, we can do it. The Bahamas,” I begged.
“I told you I can’t.”
“What the hell do you have to prove?!” I raised my voice.
“Keep your voice down!” Jason hissed.
“Why should I?! Crane’s in the Cave that you showed him!” I poked his chest. “He can’t hear me!”
“So, this is all my fault?!”
“Yes, it is!”
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Elana!”
“That you’ll stop this!” Then, I lowered my voice. “You and I, Jay. We take Crane out right now and then this can all be over.”
“The Titans will never let me back in, not after this whole thing,” he sighed.
“Then screw the Titans. Jason, let’s just leave. We have the world, and, yes, I love Gotham, it’s my home, but maybe it’s time to move on.”
“Elana-“ A knock at the door cut Jason off.
“Hey, Jason, who you taking to?” Crane asked from the other side of the door. I quickly ducked down on the other side of the bed as the door knob turned.
“No one,” Jason lied.
“I thought I heard yelling,” Crane said. I held my breath.
“I was on the phone,” Jason said.
“With who?”
“Elana.”
“What did she want?” Crane asked, starting to walk further into the room.
“Why do you care?” Jason contested.
“She wanted you to leave Grayson alone, didn’t she?”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean anything,” Jason insisted.
“This is her room, am I right?” I clenched my fist at his words, my knuckles turning white. I could feel the tension in the air. “It’s very in character. How is she, by the way?”
“I told you to leave her out of this.” Jason’s voice steeled.
“Relax, I’m just curious,” Crane said. There was a pause.
“What?” Jason spoke up.
“Nothing, nothing at all. You… you should get going. Wouldn’t want to keep Grayson waiting,” Crane said absentmindedly.
“Yeah. After you,” Jason said. Again, there was a pause before two sets of footsteps faded out the door. I sighed and got up. There were two options in the situation; I could go try to stop Dick from meeting Jason, or I could go see what Crane had going in the Cave. Maybe I could manage both. I threw on a quarter-zip and put my hair in a ponytail while trying to contact Dick on my comms.
“Dick,” I called into them, keeping my voice down.
“You were supposed to check in an hour ago,” he responded.
“Where are you?” I asked, putting on my gloves.
“The radio station. Where are you?”
“You’re lying. You’re on your motorcycle,” I said, ignoring his question. “I have a plan, but you need to listen to me. I’m doing recon on the Manor-“
“You’re doing what?!” Dick practically screamed.
“Jesus, you’re gonna blow my eardrum. I can do this right, without being seen, as long as you can distract Jason without getting too close. No full-on fight. Just lead him on.”
“What are you talking about? Crane is at the Manor,” Dick argued.
“And I have a plan for that. I’ll be in and out, but I’ll need a pickup, so you can’t, for the love of all things, engage with Jason.”
“Are you sure you can pull this off?”
“Positive.”
“I’ll do my best,” Dick sighed.
“Okay. Get to the Manor in twenty and check in with me in seven minutes,” I told him.
“Copy that,” he said.
“Huntress out.” I turned off my comms. I threw the parts of my suit I wasn’t wearing into a duffel bag and dropped it out the window, near my bike. Per mine and Bruce’s agreement, there were no security cameras outside my door. I took the liberty of disabling the ones outside my window, as well.
Before I dropped my gauntlet with my other stuff, I played back old footage of Bruce in the fourth floor main hallway and sent it to the Batcomputer. Bruce still didn’t know I could do this. I waited for the sound of footsteps to hit the stairs before looping all the first floor cameras and heading down to the Cave. Jason had left to go fight Dick and I had sent Crane upstairs, so I would be able to get down without any interference.
The first thing I did when I got down was play the sound of footsteps through random cameras on the fourth floor to buy myself time without Crane. Then, I took in the damage. The trophy cabinet was broken into, weapons were missing, random files were out on the floor, and it seemed as if Crane had gotten into electronic files, too.
I checked the electronic files first, seeing as those had the most information. I didn’t even have to log in, it was already open. There were 34 files viewed in the last 24 hours, which worried me. But what made my heart skip the most was a new file labeled Elana Queen. It wasn’t something Bruce made. It was made 15 hours before. Hesitantly, I clicked into it.
Under the basic information of my appearance and affiliations, there were dozens of lines of theories, each about me. Who trained me, my allies, even incidents I could’ve been involved in. The worst part was that most of them were accurate. A set of footsteps pulled my attention away.
“You like it?” I turned around to face Crane. The sight of him made my stomach jolt in disgust. His face was all sliced up, gross divots in his skin that set me on edge. Despite that, he wore a smile. “How’d I do?”
“A shitty job,” I growled.
“Sorry to hear that,” he said, dropping a chained scythe so it hung by his feet. “This going to sound weird, but I’d just like to say that you’re my favorite Titan, so I almost feel bad doing this.”
“You could always not,” I offered. I drew away from the computer, so that I was fully facing the manic and ready to pounce. I made the connection I would have to go deal with Jason and Dick after this, seeing as Dick hadn’t checked in, so I couldn’t spend forever with Crane.
“I don’t think you know how this works.”
“Sadly, I do.” He swung his scythe up at me and I activated my cuffs in time to block the attack. He kept swinging and moved toward me, but every attack glanced off the metal of my cuffs. I eventually managed to dodge the blade and grab the chain it was on. I yanked it toward me, pulling him close enough to send a punch to his face. He collapsed to the ground and I pulled his weapon out of his hands, tossing it to the side. Then, I pinned him down, throwing continuous punches to his face.
My brain went numb as my fist slammed into him over and over again. Blood splattered across his face and onto my skin, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. This man had gotten my boyfriend killed and then turned him into a killer. He was the reason the city was going to shit and I couldn’t do anything about it.
Crane’s eyes never lost their mischief, even as they struggled to keep open. His laugh was the thing that stopped me. It was airy and weak, but that did nothing to effect the evil in it. I froze as my fist hung over his face and my chest heaved. I could feel the fire in my eyes. If I kept it up, I would kill him.
“You- you gonna finish it?” he breathed. I activated my cuff once again and aimed it at his throat, inches away from his skin. A million thoughts rushed through my head. A small voice yelled at me to kill him right there, but another voice told me not to. I couldn’t think straight so much to the point my hand shook. My eyes burnt holes in his head, but he simply laughed. With a frustrated cry I shoved myself off him and to my feet. “Oh, come on. Kill me,” he wheezed.
“You’re lucky I have better things to do,” I growled. His laughter echoed throughout the Cave as I took off upstairs.
—————————
I arrived at the scene of the commotion where Jason and Dick were fighting as a crowd had gathered. I watched as Dick grabbed one of Jason’s guns and pointed it at Jason, who was on the ground. I flew off my motorcycle and threw my helmet to the ground, sprinting toward the two costumed men. Dick had gotten distracted by the crowd, and hadn’t seen Jason stand up behind him, loading a gun and pointing it at his head.
“Don’t!” I yelled, throwing myself in between them, so my back was to Dick. “If you want to shoot him, you’ll have to shoot me first.” Jason’s eyes softened, but his gun never lowered.
“Elana?” Dick breathed from behind me. I didn’t respond, too focused on Jason.
“I dare you,” I said to my boyfriend. I stared at him with challenging eyes, daring him to make another move, but before either of us could, three gunshots rang out from behind me. I whipped around to see a kid about my age standing with a gun pointed at Dick and and the latter bleeding from his neck in a bad spot.
“Shit!” I cursed.
“I did it for you,” the boy told Jason. Then, the crowd started chanting his name and moving in toward Dick.
“Give me your gun,” I demanded, turning back to Jason. He didn’t move. “Now!” He shook his head as if clearing his mind and handed me his gun, emotionless eyes never leaving Dick. “Leave. I’ll deal with you later,” I ordered. Once again, he stayed put. “Jason!”
“Right, yeah,” he mumbled before turning and sprinting away. I turned to the crowed that had we ended upon Dick and shot my gun into the air.
“Everyone, leave!” Most backed away before running off, but I had to knock a couple of the braver ones’ guns out of their hands before they got the message. When they were clear, I dropped to Dick’s side and immediately put pressure on his wound. Fear crept up my throat as I realized how bad the wound was. “Come on, Dick,” I muttered. “Stay with me.” He opened his mouth to respond, but only coughed up blood. My heart dropped in my chest. I was going to lose him.
