Facebook Mail Pinterest X Type your email… Subscribe 4 pieces of advice I would give to my younger self. I honestly love these kind of posts. I find that there is so much to learn when it comes to growing up and what you take with you throughout the process. Being 30, almost 31, there are a lot of things I have learned and come across that I would 100% tell my younger self. I do not regret…

That Deep, Gaping Hole Hey sunshine, How’s it hanging? Hopefully you’ve been having a sunny week like me. Hopefully you’re finding those little sparks of wellness throughout your day, even when the darkness is thick. For me, things continue to be up and down, but I’ve made some surprising efforts that I’m really proud of. I keep telling myself that the most important thing is to be tolerant of…

My AO3 Reminder/PSA
Hey guys!
As most of you know, I am a pro writer/blogger, who has a Patreon where I post short stories (including SPN fanfics) every 2 weeks and a website where I post articles that are free to read in a variety of topics.
What you might not know (because truthfully I haven't really advertised it 😅) is that I signed up as a fic writer for a SPN e-zine a few years ago, and write a full fic every month for each issue.
These e-zine fics are all posted in full for FREE over on my AO3. (The e-zine itself is posted in the Supernatural Amino app)
So for those of you who are curious about my writing style (or already like it) and can't pay to read my work but still want to read it, you can over on AO3!
Because the e-zine is posted once a month, there aren't nearly as many fics as there are on my Patreon, but hopefully it's enough for you guys to get your fill. (I do sometimes post public/free stories on my Patreon, as well - such as SPN fic requests)
So.... yeah, go check out my AO3 if you want to find my free work. Or head to my Patreon to unlock my full catalogue of stories! (Currently 100+)
Also Patreon is now offering 7 day FREE trials! (If you'd like to test the waters before committing 😉)

RECO OF THE WEEK!
Frying Plantain by Zalika Reid-Benta
Synopsis:
“Kara Davis is a girl caught in the middle — of her Canadian nationality and her desire to be a “true” Jamaican, of her mother and grandmother’s rages and life lessons, of having to avoid being thought of as too “faas” or too “quiet” or too “bold” or too “soft.” Set in “Little Jamaica,” Toronto’s Eglinton West neighbourhood, Kara moves from girlhood to the threshold of adulthood, from elementary school to high school graduation, in these twelve interconnected stories. We see her on a visit to Jamaica, startled by the sight of a severed pig’s head in her great aunt’s freezer; in junior high, the victim of a devastating prank by her closest friends; and as a teenager in and out of her grandmother’s house, trying to cope with the ongoing battles between her unyielding grandparents. A rich and unforgettable portrait of growing up between worlds, Frying Plantain shows how, in one charged moment, friendship and love can turn to enmity and hate, well-meaning protection can become control, and teasing play can turn to something much darker. In her brilliantly incisive debut, Zalika Reid-Benta artfully depicts the tensions between mothers and daughters, second-generation Canadians and first-generation cultural expectations, and Black identity and predominately white society.”
