Hear me out: Robin Dick would be the biggest Bruceman supporter and shipper.

This boy hates any of Bruce’s love interest with a passion because then his dad guardian spends less time with him and that’s obviously UNACCEPTABLE, SCANDALOUS even, so when rumours start circulating that Bruce Wayne is in a relationship with the Batman, he jumps right on the wagon.

Reporter, thirsty for a story: Mr Grayson what do you think about the rumours that Bruce Wayne is dating the Batman?

Dick: What do I think about my dads you mean? My very married very taken dads? My very faithful to each other plural dads?

He would fuel the rumours both as Robin and as Dick Grayson, punching criminals for talking bad about Wayne enterprises as Robin (“THAT’S MY STEPDADS COMPANY YOURE TALKING ABOUT!”). He would be on online forums all day talking about how Bruceman is the only Batman ship that makes sense and Doxxing people who disagree.

Bruce is so exasperated because this is happening at a time where only Alfred and Dick know his real identity so he can’t even do anything with ANYONE without making either Bruce Wayne or Batman look unfaithful.

Throw Reporter Clark Kent into the mix who has been sent to scope out the Bruceman story, who Bruce makes the mistake of flirting with at a gala. Both Clark AND dick are scandalised.

Dick, making a scene: HOW COULD YOU! BATMAN IS WAITING FOR YOU AT HOME AND YOURE HERE FLIRTING WITH SOME… SOME REPORTER??

Bruce, sighing: Dick-

Dick, tugging on Bruce’s suit and looking up at him with fake tears in his eyes: Dad, are you and dad getting a divorce? :(

Clark, panicking: NO NO THEYRE NOT GETTING A DIVORCE PLEASE DONT CRY

He would even go as far as insisting that Robin is his step sibling

You and him could stare at each other and you would poke his eyes jokingly, trying to pause your fingers before poking his eyes but actually doing it on accident. And now you’re saying sorry a million of times as he rubs his eyes.

Has “grounded” you by putting you in a room where you couldn’t melt out of. Don’t ask how that even happened.

You and him training a lot, Batman knows who you are. And boy did you wish he didn’t because now you are being trained by the dark knight and it’s tiring. But at least you can control your powers better now.

So today's obnoxious rambling post is about Batman/Scarecrow: Year One, which as you can imagine is the basic story of Bruce's first encounter with Jonathan Crane. If you're a Scarecrow fan it's great and you'd have a wonderful time-- but if you're a Batdad enjoyer? If you're a BABY DICKBIN ENJOYER?? Oh my god. Dude.

So you can imagen this with any of the batboys, I didn’t really think about any specific. Anyway enjoy reading:)

Maybe he doesn’t know you know, but how can you go back to being friends after what you discovered. You know he is Robin, after last night, he was visiting you while on patrol as always and then you saw it, saw him. He didn’t take off the mask, but you saw you, his laugh was the same as the one you know from school. It all made sense suddenly, not having a lot of time, always suddenly having to leave and everything else. You don’t know why but it still hurts you that he didn’t tell you even after all the years of friendship and hardships you went through together. But you can understand why he don’t tell you, it was to dangerous if he did, but still a small part think he doesn’t trust you. And that hurt.

So now here you are again, at night sitting with him well Robin on your rooftop talking. But it’s hart to pretend when you know it is really your friend there. Thinking about it now it worries you that it is really him, you are aware that this job is dangerous and that every time something can go wrong. But you know he’s capable from what you seen him do as Robin and what you’ve read about his superhero persona, but still the thought of something going wrong scares you, the thought of losing him scares you.

You look at him and sigh “Hey you alright?” He ask you sigh again “Yeah I’m just thinking, you know I’m actually worried about you.” “Why?” He ask confused, you can see his forehead creasing a bit like he dose when someone gets on his nerves and you chuckle. “Well what you do isn’t really safe, so I wonder what happens when something goes wrong, I don’t want to lose you.” You say sincere, you can see he taken back by what you just said and he sighs. “Mhm, I get what you mean, and honestly I try not to think about what if something goes wrong. And I don’t want it to be a possibility where you lose me, I quiet enjoy out late night talks. And besides I have something important to do before it can even get that far.” You only nod, not knowing what to answer to that. “What do you have important to do?”, “There is someone, and I have to tell them about how I really feel, they don’t know that I do at night and I can’t keep pretending.” “I sure it will work out for you, of course it’s a blow at first but I think they will understand, because I would, and if they don’t screw them.” You say chuckling a bit at the end. He just smiles and nods, he’s getting called and as fast as he’s here he is gone again. Always slipping through your hands, you’ve always thought you two were close, but now it seems your worlds apart.

He has to tell you, he knows. After this night he has to, he can’t lose you, he won’t, not without telling you first. It eats him alive, every time he has to cancel on you, yes he is spending time with you as Robin but that is not what he wants. He want to be with you with you knowing who he is, mask or no mask. That’s what he has to do.

Listen, I love when Robin is the name and costume Dick choose almost purely as a homage to his parents and the circus, but I do think it is incredibly funny (and in character) when in Jeff Lemire’s Batman and Robin he chooses the costume design purely because it would piss Bruce off! 10/10 work and decision making, really sets the standard and expectations for every Robin going forward right here

Tim was a stalker. Point, blank, period. He stayed up late to sneak out and follow Batman and Robin until he got too tired to. He had a myriad of pictures and videos, he wrote down their normal routes and anything he could remember. He didn't interact, that'd break the illusion, and it's like people say: Never meet your idols. Tim didn't intend to. He liked watching Batman and Robin.

He was their biggest fan, he even knew their identities. He'd never tell because that was their secret. That's what set him apart from everyone else. Only Tim truly knew Batman and Robin. And he took a sick pleasure in watching them experience hardships that only he knew the reason for. It was like a multimedia reality show, shown through photos, videos, and newspaper clippings.

He watched and grinned at the way Bruce’s punches hardened when Dick left for Bludhaven. Robin would always be his favorite character, but Batman was the star of the show. So he noticed the difference in punches. He sure the goons noticed too, but to Tim it was everything. Batman was sad, he hit hard, and Tim was entertained. Then Jason Todd was picked to be the next Robin. Tim was a little older, he could stay up a little longer, and he could see the end of their patrols.

Bruce was so happy, so soft. It was interesting, seeing the changes. Goons were getting off pretty good and rouges were spending much less time in the hospital. Sometimes Nightwing visited and Bruce seemed even happier.

Then Jason died. It was unfortunate, that was his favorite character and his favorite Robin. It was fun at first, watching Batman’s hyper-violent rampage through Gotham. Sometimes he even got to see Batman cry when he thought he was alone. And, well, Tim couldn't help but smile. Batman was so stoic, so hard. He didn't even cry as Bruce Wayne. This was a true, exclusive, just-for-Tim experience. Tim took more pictures than he could count, zoomed in close-ups of Batman’s tear-stained cheeks. He wished he could get closer, take better quality pictures. This was a once in a lifetime experience.

Unfortunately, Batman also became reckless during this. He ran into things with little regard to his own safety which made him sloppily as the night went on. It was... risky. Tim hated to say it but this wasn't fun anymore. It wasn't an interesting show, it was just a man throwing himself into danger not caring if he lived or died. There wasn't anything entertaining on the Bruce Wayne end either, the guy became a recluse. Tim didn't want to end his show on a bad episode, he needed to fix this.

This was the longest Batman had been without a Robin, that needed to be fixed. Robin was his stabilizer, that's what was needed to save the show. Tim needed to get him another Robin. He went to Dick first, he found his address easily. Dick acted... out of character. Sure Tim hasn't seen him much since Jason died, but he didn't like it when people changed offscreen. But it was fine, Dick was grieving. It was okay, that was the problem with real people, characters were more palatable.

So Tim had to take this into his own hands. If you asked him a year ago, Tim would've never even thought of joining the show, but risking the reveal of Batman’s identity but accidentally choosing the wrong Robin? Tim was smarter than that. He knew what he had to do. If he wanted his show to keep going, he'd have to play his favorite character.

It was two weeks in when the show wasn't entertaining anymore. Two weeks in when everyone stopped being characters. Two weeks in when Tim realized saving this show was more work than he was cut out for. But Tim was locked into this role and by God was he gonna play it to perfection.

So there’s this old TikTok audio where it gives a list of people not to fight with and one of them is “don’t fight your dad until your 16 and stop fighting your son once he turns 18” and I’m sorry but that’s all I can think about whenever I see Batman fighting any of the brids.
