the secret key to writing in character dick grayson is that dick does not get enjoyment out of relaxing or doing fun things. its a hard mindset to understand because it's the opposite of what you or i as fandom people experience, but Dick is never shown to do things for fun. if he's watching a movie or playing a game, it's almost always to spend time with other people, not because that's his impulse (and lowkey he sometimes ruins it for other people by never being able to turn off his brain)
now, this is not to say that he's unhappy, or that he doesn't experience happiness in his day to day. but he doesnt get that from the things that we, as comic book readers and fanfiction writers, get enjoyment from.
Dick is the definition of a workaholic. His only enjoyment comes from a job well done, helping people, and sometimes adrenaline (as his only real canon hobby is...skydiving)
Further reading: Flash Plus Nightwing (1997) (hating on the Hardy Boys)
Nightwing (2016) #43 (being unable to take a night off)
Nightwing (1996) #140 (skydiving)
The Titans (1999) #3 (being a terrible film watcher)

Dp x Dc au: Normal is Good
Okay so hear me out— i see lots of “you can’t control Danny he’s a wild child” premises and like, I agree, I love that, but JUST hear me out. Danny who is just entranced by being treated like a NORMAL KID.
I think for best results this should be done with de-aged Danny so he’s a bit younger, but it can def work with regular Danny too.
Danny winds up running around Gotham for one reason or another doing INSANE SHIT to try and help or just survive and his family is out of the way. The explosion, Bad Fentons, etc— and one of the bats picks up Danny. This can be a dad!Jason, or dad!Dick, or classic Bruce Adoption. But they see this little shit running around and are like “no fucking way, not on my watch you little maniac”
Now, a lot of people use the “Jazz practically raised Danny” card, and I love that card and fully support it, but she was also a kid. With no other parents to consult. Who was raised by the Fentons originally and def has no clue what normal parents are like. So she probably didn’t exactly measure up to how a kid is MEANT to be raised. So Danny still had an incredibly strange childhood that just was Not Normal, but I feel like we see Danny with a deep desire to be normal. He doesn’t even really like being a superhero that much, he just wanted to be a kid.
So he gets bat adopted, and Danny is just functioning how he did growing up with the Fentons, which is No Restrictions Do What You Want. And then his bat dad (using Jason for this) is like “No. It’s Bed Time.” And Danny. Danny is ALL for that. He’s bewildered. Mystified. He’s not grumpy about being told what to do at ALL, because he’s just so shocked.
“You’re serious? You’re fucking dead-ass serious? It’s bed time? Oh my god this is so cool. I’ve never had a bed time before! This is great!” Because this is the first time he’s EVER been treated like a normal child by a parental figure. He just got sent to bed. Wow.
Having a parent who is in charge of keeping him healthy and actually enforces Danny taking care of himself is kind of cool.
“Eat your vegetables, they’re good for you.” And they won’t try to eat him back? Fuck yeah, he’ll eat his vegetables!
“No you aren’t allowed to go out at 2 in the morning, go back to bed, you have a doctors appointment for your yearly checkup tomorrow.” oh ancients, Danny has always heard other kids complain about not being allowed out at night, but to have himself told he can’t? This is so weird. And he’s never been to a yearly check up before!
“Brush your teeth before bed” “I can’t get cavities, I’m dead!” “Ya know, for some reason I don’t believe you. When was the last time you went to the dentist? Are you sure you can’t get them?” Danny has 7 cavities.
The first time Danny gets to actually use the “my dad said No” excuse, he is ECSTATIC. Jack and Maddie have LITERALLY never told him he can’t go out somewhere. Ever. He’s in a whole new world where he doesn’t have to fight ghosts, or be a hero, or anything and he loves it. He has a normal kids room without deadly weapons in it and normal kid hobbies and a fridge full of normal food and a parent who enforces a bed time, and it’s weird as hell and it’s great. Normal is pretty damn good, he has no clue what Sam and Tucker were always complaining about. Shits sweet.

Story Idea:
22 year old Gotham University student Danny finds a Damien clone whose near death and saves his life, offering to let the kid stay with him in his crappy apartment. The clone accepts, thinking Danny seems like a tolerable chump to bide his time with as he builds his strength for another fight with his progenitor for his rightful place as heir to Batman. Danny absolutely 100% knows the kid’s a clone and that taps right into his childhood trauma, making him want to protect him all the more. (Up to you if Dani is alive but in my version she’s not). Over time, Clone!Damien becomes begrudgingly fond of his new caretaker, especially after Danny starts taking him on Doctor Who style adventures through time/space and the tamer parts of the GZ (there are none) as part of his efforts to build up the kid’s confidence (outside his overcompensating ego) and help him learn to grow into his own person.
Bonus!
Danny and Clone!Damien are the downstairs neighbors to none other than Jason Peters (aka Jason Todd). They both clock him as Red Hood pretty quickly, but it takes much longer for them to connect him to the Waynes, so he’s kinda just their marginally more normal neighbor who happens to be a crime lord and who, for some reason, tends to check up on them a lot. (Originally this was because RH thought Danny might be an upcoming villain, then because he didn’t understand how Danny was alive, and then Clone!Damien moved in and he started checking to make sure that he didn’t murder Danny in his sleep). Luckily, Jason is a fantastic cook, so they are both grateful (to varying degrees) for his nosiness. (Is this a Dead on Main situation, are they just good friends? Who’s to say? You. Or me. But probably you.)

Tiny ideas 2
----
1. Danny, in his new and very human black and white vigilante outfit runs past Penguin who had gotten soaked when a car full of hooligans wearing clown masks ran threw a puddle and splashed him.
Danny, not knowing who this was, tapped him on the shoulder as he ran past, running his intangibility through the man and letting the water fall off him, leaving him nice and dry again.
Penguin makes note to pay both back in very different ways.
----
2. Phantom, having been exorcisized from Amity Park and essentially banished and unable to return, roams around the multiverse looking for something to do.
Upon coming across the creepiest doll hes ever seen in a trash bin, he decides to mess with some local bat themed vigilantes and possesses the doll.
His first victim is Red Robin. Danny in all his creepy doll glory toddles out from behind a chimney as his target is running across the rooftop in his direction. Birdy stopped dead (heh) and stared at the doll.
Danny picked good. The doll was porcelain and cracked, missing one of its glass eyes and moss growing out of the empty socket and around various parts of its body. Its dress was once a lovely blue or green velvet but was now patchy and worn.
He turned the dolls head around at an unnatural angle to fix its gaze on the vigilante, its frozen polite smile adding to its eerieness, and in a moment of impulse said, "I'll see you soon." In the most creepiest little girl voice he could manage, using his ghost powers to make the words seem to drift upon the air towards the hero.
And just like that, doll Danny was gone.
RR almost frantically contacted oracle, "Did you see that?!"
"RR your signal cut out for a few minutes, backup should arrive soon. What happened?"
-----
3. Jason has been getting followed around by this wierd kid who is prime Brucie adoption bait. Kid kept jumping out of nowhere without anyone being able to sense him to ask him the weirdest questions (Damian was so startled that he nearly stabbed the kid on reflex. Not that he'd ever admit it).
The questions where things like, "Do you like books? What are your favorites? Can you cook? Do you like red heads? Do you like dogs? How opposed are you to having supervillian in-laws? What if they give you free experimental weaponry? ....how about some laser cannons and a jet?
Jason ends up getting kidnapped by this kid and dumped in from of this pretty girl as the kid tells her, "I went out and got you a boyfriend who won't try to murder you. Don't screw this up!" Before the kid ran out of the room.
Jazz was mortified.
Jason is still on the floor where he was deposited earlier, "So..." he begins, "I heard you like Jane Austin?"
-----
4. Phantom faked his death in front of the people of Amity Park, just to see how they would react to his passing and kind of in hopes of something changing. He couldn't keep sacrificing everything for these people, after all.
He did not like how the people reacted. Danny had to move away cause if he heard one more person say it was a good thing "that monster" died hes going to hurt someone.
Gotham seemed lovely this time of year and its one place that neither his parents or Vlad would visit. Vlad because if he tried anything at all the worlds greatest detective would ruin him and his parents because they once tried to hunt Batman and Robin only for Batman to terrify them to the point of never returning after they hurt his bird.
Danny got hired at Wayne Tech after submitting a wide range of devices but couldn't do much thanks to still being a minor. Thankfully Mr. Wayne was very generous and kept him housed and fed while he finished his online schooling and graduated early.
(Heavy angst for Danny.)
---
5. Danny hadn't seen Cujo in a while, which wasn't too unusual, but it have been a long time since hed seen his puppy and he was overdue a visit.
Danny pulled out his dog whistle, one normally used for emergencies and that Cujo would never ever ignore.
Only...Cujo didn't come. Now Danny goes on a journey to track down his missing dog. Following clues and trails across different realities, dimensions and universes to find his lost dog.
He did not expect to meet a bird themed vigilante along the way, not for them to insist he help him on his quest. Robin seemed very wary of the Infinite Realms the first time he entered them and had tons of questions. But bird boy was great company and Cujo would love him so Danny could deal.

I would like to know what a slasher relationship would be like with a hybrid fem witch/vampire. Sorry if it makes no sense, English is not my main language
Slashers with a Feminine Witch & Vampire Hybrid
A/N: This a great Spooky Season Request!
Tumblr media
Freddy Krueger
He thinks it's hot, of course
Wants you to bite him just for the hell of it
His blood doesn't taste very good though (he's dead) so he tries to make up for it in other ways
Always brings home a body for you
But if that's not really your style, he'll happily come back with a jug of blood instead
Wants to see the types of spells you can cast
He turns it into a competition sometimes
You both go back and forth using your powers to change things around
Secretly wants you to use your powers on his victims with him during his murder sprees
If you enjoy feeding on bodies, he wants to be there to watch
Everything about it turns him on to be honest
Tumblr media
Michael Myers
Probably the most neutral of the slashers
He kinda just lets you do your own thing for a while
Is not too sure about you feeding off of him at first, but he secretly loves it now
He thinks your spells are pretty cool too, but he just doesn't show it much
Will definitely take advantage of your powers though if he is having trouble with a victim
He hates asking though since he very much wants to do everything himself
You insist on healing him whenever he is injured even against his objections
As long as you don't intervene too much with his killings, he lets you do whatever for the most part
Just don't kill his target first
Tumblr media
Jason Voorhees
Will definitely supply you with enough blood to last a lifetime
He's very giving with everything
You're hungry? He's sure he can find a lost soul in the woods
Need a certain plant for a spell? He'll keep an eye out for it while he wanders around
Likes to sit with you while you learn new spells and listen to you explain everything you're doing
Honestly, you being a hybrid makes him feel more comfortable
He knows that you can take care of yourself while he's gone
And you living within nature where people and animals pass through is perfect
Unlimited food and seclusion to work on your magic is exactly what you want
It's a win win all around
Tumblr media
Thomas Hewitt
When he first learns about what you were, he was honestly kinda confused
He had heard of witches, and he had heard of vampires
But only through a fictional sense
And even then, he didn't know that someone could be both
Would need you to sit down and explain everything to him
The whole family is supportive of your taste in food (clearly)
They just use the meat, so they're happy to give you all the blood first before going to work
They're a bit iffy about your spells and powers though
Satanic spells would be a hard no in their books
As long as you use your magic outside of their home, then they all couldn't care less on you being a hybrid
Tumblr media
Bubba Sawyer
You eat people? Cool, same.
But the witchcraft thing is going to take some getting used to
He grew up being told that all forms of witchcraft are evil
So you'll need to sit him down and explain everything you do
Has a weird fascination with watching you drink blood
The first time you casted a spell in front of him, he jumped
But just like a little kid in a toy store, he was quick to show his curiosity and want to see more of your spells
Slowly grows to love it
He has never met anyone supernatural before, so having you around is like living in a movie every day
Will go out with you to pick plants and herbs
May even help you set up a little garden out back
He has quite the green thumb
Tumblr media
Brahms Heelshire
His family was pretty religious growing up, so the witchy part is pretty concerning to him at first
The vampire thing is also a bit annoying
He wants to be able to sit down and eat a normal dinner with you every night
But your diet is very particular
Living in the middle of nowhere is nice since you can go out and find plenty of animals to eat if needed
But the lack of people and Brahms never wanting to leave the house makes it difficult for you at times
You probably have to venture outside alone a lot which he doesn't like
But when at home, he grows to appreciate your spells more
The home is clean in a snap, his food is ready in just a second
Definitely becomes even lazier and wants you to do everything for him
He's still a child at heart after all
Tumblr media
Norman Bates
He's honestly a little scared of you at first
Vampires and witches are in every evil tale, and he grew up correlating them with monsters
But he cares about you too much to let you go completely
Prefers for you to drink blood outside of the home
But if there happens to be a body left in one of the motel rooms, he's fine with you venturing in there and doing what you need
He just doesn't want to see it
You've tried using your powers to help clean the motels rooms, but he honestly prefers to do it the old fashioned way
Avoids telling his mother about you being a hybrid
He knows it will just be her screaming in his head every day if he does
He does show quite an interest in the different plants and herbs you collect however
Tumblr media
Billy Loomis
Doesn't really believe you at first
"Prove it"
When your fangs pop out and your spell is cast, he is quick to widen his eyes
"Do it again"
Has a thing for you feeding on him
He finds it quite pleasurable honestly and would rather keep the bite mark than have you heal it up
Likes to join you outside at night and hold you while you conjure up spells
May want you to join him and Stu during their sprees to help them out from time to time
Invites you inside whenever they're done with all their victims so you can eat
Lays in bed with you at night and watches you use your magic to make pretty light shows on the ceiling
Thinks it's sexy
Tumblr media
Stu Macher
Also needs you to prove it to him
Gets the biggest grin on his face once you do
"That's hot"
Likes watching you feed from his arm
Wants you to go to every killing spree with him and Billy
If you can't, he brings back a couple containers of blood for you
Watches supernatural films with you and constantly asks if each scene is realistic
"Can witches do that?" "No, that's clearly fake, Stu"
Wants you to use your powers to pull pranks on people in public
Also wants you to use your powers to help him steal things from the store
Buys you cute crystals for your room
Asks you to conjure up a puppy on a daily basis
Tumblr media
Eric Draven
Loves the aesthetic of it all
The candles, plants, night time adventures, everything
If you're hungry, Eric may beat up a bad guy and let you finish the job
Just don't kill anyone innocent (or cats)
Doesn't mind if you feed from him
Kinda finds it romantic and always holds you close to him, rubbing his hand down your hair
Likes to see the spells you can cast
The ideal night for you two is sitting out on the roof together, him playing guitar and watching you try out new spells and casting your magic
Likes when you use your powers to send him little love messages in the night while he's gone
Enjoys laying in bed with you and watching you create little images on the wall

'forced conformity is killing the kids'
Mike Wheeler ST5 Theory/analysis
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we've all seen the new BTS of Finn Wolfhard on the set of Stranger Things dropped and OH MY GOD. THE DUALITY FROM LAST SEASON.
I have to TRY write about it ATLEAST...because wow I have a lot of potential thoughts, sorry it's once again unstructured, messy, and repetitive but stay with me please!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen ALOT of people happy we're getting s1-2 Mike hair back but guys .....it's not a good thing!!!!!!!!!! Mike is going THROUGH IT.
______________________________________________
In Season 4 it's acknowledged that Mike is finally coming into his own a bit, Eddie says he was wearing 'whatever his mom bought him' when he first came to highschool, but in episode 1 when we see him for the first time in S4, he's clearly been influenced by Eddie and has figured out what style he likes and what he's interested in, he's in a DND club, he's comfortable being known as an uncool nerd, he's growing his hair out (yes I DO believe it's because he idolised Eddie, I have more to say about that in a second)
basically: his hair and his outfits, aswell as pretty much the way he acts in Hawkins (NOT California- he goes back to pretending to be something else) in S4 represents the ideology non-conformity and his sense freedom in this new persona
he doesn't feel lost in highschool anymore, he's doing what he likes with his friends (DnD) and he's proudly wearing his hellfire shirt around school/Hawkins, basically, he's accepting that it's okay to enjoy 'different' things that aren't considered the norm, and it makes him happy, he feels comfortable!
_____________________________________________
But now in Season 5, from the pictures we've seen, it looks like he's fully reverted back into his shell, I guess I understand why tbh I don't blame him:
he comes back to Hawkins after everything and everyone believes he's in a satanic cult- townspeople probably treat him badly and Jason's team mates probably blame Eddie and the rest of hellfire for Jason's 'disappearance' (death). They directly connect him with all the horrible things that have happened to Hawkins as of late
...which is probably what the BTS of them walking towards Mike are about, they probably keep harassing him no matter how he acts and Mike just wants them to leave him alone, let's face it:
High school has probably gone full circle back to middle school for Mike and he's getting bullied/mistreated again. So he feels his only option is to remove himself from Hellfire and become 'normal'.
Hellfire might maybe even be blamed for the gates being opened. Last we heard, the townspeople were hunting down Eddie and the rest of hellfire, and the graffiti on Eddie's grave in the S5 pics shows that he's still very much hated.
Mike probably got harassed by multiple people who don't believe Eddie's dead, or believe Mike was in on it and are out looking for him, or think Hellfire contributed to some satanic ritual causing the 'earthquake' and thus Mike is also a target and it's dangerous for him.
So I think part of the style change and haircut is due to THAT, he doesn't wear his hellfire shirt anymore because he doesn't want any affiliation with the club.
As Finn Wolfhard has said in previous interviews 'mikes just trying to act as normal as possible' so by seperating himself from Eddie/Hellfire and becoming more conventionally 'normal' he won't be treated like an outcast.
He won't be assaulted, bullied, blamed, or worse if he conforms. He has a greater chance of everything becoming better/easier while living in Hawkins if he does this, he might have even given up DnD aswell- so yeah he's gonna be pretty MISERABLE in season 5
___________________________________________
Alot of people wanted to see his reaction to Eddie's death, I think we'll definitely be seeing the lingering after effects of it, and alot of Mike's arc will kick off because of the aftermath of the vilification of Hellfire.
Only few people know that Eddie died to try protect Hawkins, Eddie was a role model for Dustin and Mike, but they're grieving him in COMPLETELY different ways
Dustin decides to honour him by taking up a similar style and proudly wearing his hellfire shirt, and is also probably trying to sway the town's opinion on Eddie and prove him innocent.
....But Mike seemingly decides that he DOESNT want to end up like Eddie anymore: dead and hated, known as a satanic freak.
Someone he idolised is now deceased, he doesn't know how to properly handle that fact, it's intimidating that someone he looked up to do much could be so hated, and in turn has caused the reaction from Mike that is basically 'if my idol is treated as such a horrible outcast, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps, where would that leave me?' he's feeling lost and hopeless, especially with the state Hawkins is in, so he probably decides the best thing to do is just blend in. Be normal.
It probably scares him that even merely his interest in DnD and all these other factors immediately make him a target, as far as townspeople believe- Mike is one of the kids who was close with a brutal serial killer, they probably think he's just as 'messed up as Eddie the freak was' for staying friends with someone who'd do such horrible things
I think Mike just wants to hide as much as he can right now, he has ALOT on his plate and doesn't need the rest of the town out to get him.
so if anyone asks: he'll probably say things like 'I didn't really know Eddie! I would never join a cult like that, I didn't know!' or something to try seperate his name from the hellfire club.
Mike will end up picking protecting himself and hiding his true identity and values/traits rather then living exposed and vulnerable; yet true to what he actually believes is right....And that is the opposite of what Dustin is doing,
Dustin is a proud hellfire member and friend of Eddie, he's picking what he thinks is right over self-preservation from the town, he's still wearing his battered shirt, now HE'S the one growing his hair out, he still adores Eddie and misses him (so does Mike probably, but he feels he CANT outwardly publicly show support or stand up for him)
I do wonder if this will cause some sort of tension between Dustin and Mike, because Dustin is doing the opposite and becoming more like Eddie instead of distancing himself from the hellfire name, he might feel betrayed that Mike 'gave up' on Hellfire, and maybe accuse him of not even caring about Eddie or his death?? Idk!!!!!!!!!! I feel like Dustin will also be going through it this season 😭😭😭
_____________________________________________
I do also think Mike will try to be clinging alot to El this season (I mean, before they inevitably break up which I believe will probably happen kinda early on if it actually happens at all)
this is also because just the idea of having a girlfriend corresponds to his idea of conformity and being 'normal'. He just wants to be a normal guy, his life is nothing out for the ordinary, he's not interested in satanic things like dnd and hellfire, he's just a normal person. A normal person who is PROBABLY a target of Vecna in season 5 😓
I believe his arc for this season will be trying to breakout of these notions of conformity in exchange for things he actually likes and is interested in, we saw him sort of branching out in season 4, but I think THIS time it's happening for real, and he'll end up fully embracing his own views and interests after some sort of emotional arc-which will also probably be part of the M*lev*n break up (not censored because I'm against them/hate them I just don't wanna clog the tag for others 😭😭) OR set off by the breakup
Throughout season 1 he was told he liked El, or others assumed it, so I think he assumed it aswell, they just never broke up because El ALSO thinks having a boyfriend is normal and expected, and because Mike was the boy she was closest to she assumed it was romantic feelings (and he kissed her in S1 which probably contributed to her assuming they were romantic feelings)
Alot of the people around her are also in relationships, and she watched alot of TV with happy romantic couples so she thinks it's more normal to HAVE a boyfriend then to NOT have one, I think Mike and El kinda stayed together because they think they're SUPPOSED to by these social standards,
They obviously care about each other alot, and mistook it as reasons to just stay together, she wants to be a normal girl because only being a superhero isnt good for her, she needs to be 'Jane Hopper' and not '011'. I do think she definitely needs to be single for awhile and find herself, even if her and Mike are to be endgame, she NEEDS at least some time to gain some experiences outside of living her life as a superhero, (Mike also needs character development outside of being 'Els Boyfriend's)
Which is why it was vital that her time with max in S3 existed, so El could realise her value and that there is a life outside having a boyfriend- I think Mike needs a similar moment aswell, a wake-up call of sorts where he can take a step back and consider maybe rather than letting society dictate his actions, he makes decisions for what he wants for himself ('we make our own rules')
_____________________________________________
If m*lev*n is endgame then sure that's great for them, but I genuinely don't know what big character arc could be in store for Mike that doesn't involve a breakup and themes of non-conforming, it doesn't even have to involve Byler endgame at all (although I AM a byler truther)
I think Mike learning that it's okay to let go of that romantic relationship if he doesn't feel that way anymore is a big step for his character, or atleast taking a break so he can work on himself, anything along those lines of actual development on himself rather then on his relationship- El and Mike have been romantically paired from the start, he needs to learn that it's OKAY to breakup with someone if thats what he feels is right, (side note: I DO believe El would/will be the one to breakup with him 😭)
I don't think he realises that he'll be able to stay friends with El, it's not 'shes my girlfriend or else she'll hate me for breaking up with her. No other options'
he doesn't want to lose her because he cares about her but he can't find a way to balance that romantic relationship alongside his other friendships. So I think for his character to develop they have to breakup, even temporarily, but obviously that's only my opinion if M*lev*n is endgame then oh well, it's endgame, but I think they would be a really awesome platonic duo and I'd like their relationship alot more if it was that way
______________________________________________
I think later in the season he'll realise that living this way not actually what he wants, and he doesn't want to give up who he is, or pretend to be something he's not- because he IS a nerd who likes DnD, and he does support Eddie, he cared alot about him because he idolised him, and i think season 5 is about him learning that that's okay and he doesn't have to feel so much pressure to conform by societal standards, bro needs a better grief process, forced conformity GOT HIS ASS 😭😭😭
What I'm trying to say is: all of this, and his new look is a safety net of sorts, he's still pretending to be something he's not because he feels he HAS to, otherwise it's dangerous for him in Hawkins because of hellfires reputation, but he's also acting this way because of other factors that I haven't really thought through yet LMAO
I believe season 5 will probably be him accepting those things about himself and embracing it, maybe also undoing his emotional repression along the way, I guess I would describe it as coming of age and I think if it's handled well it could be really beautiful in a way
OH MY GOD I RAMBLED SO MUCH AND IT ISNT EVEN A SOLID THEORY JUST A COLLECTION OF THOUGHTS😭
Sorry that was long and repetitive but uhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah..........anyways Mike Wheeler ily keep ur head up king please don't die in S5‼️‼️ stay safe‼️‼️

The comics always have Tim comment on how normal his childhood was, and I just don’t believe them.
Like, the name “Drake” was set up in comics for years beforehand. Tim Drake is a rich kid. His parents did own an entire industry and Tim’s introductory comic tells us flat out that he spends most of the time his parents aren’t home at boarding and private schools. His parents were gone a lot!
Tim Drake is stated to be so normal. This kid can still clearly remember watching Dick’s parents die, he was traumatized and had nightmares about the scene. Especially if you believe Tim’s never taken a picture of Batman before the events of his introduction, Tim is extra strange because why was his first instinct to take pictures of Batman getting beaten up?! Is that normal child behaviour?? Am I the weird one for not knowing where Dick Grayson’s girlfriend lived when I was thirteen?? How on earth is Tim Drake the normal one?
He’s a stilted talker, absolutely terrible at speaking about important things. He is the Robin who called the most alike to Batman more than once, Ra’s al Ghul calls him a detective on Batman’s level, are you REALLY normal if you’re similar to Batman??
Like yeah, sure. Tim didn’t grow up in a circus. Tim didn’t grow up raised on the streets. Tim wasn’t trained from birth to be an assassin.
I would argue that this makes him MORE abnormal! He doesn’t have Dick’s background or flexibility! He doesn’t have either of Jason’s backgrounds nor his grudge. He doesn’t have Batman to live up to for a father. And yet, he still decides to put his life on the line to fight crime! His parents weren’t even dead!! He just decided that “If Batman and Nightwing aren’t going to take care of themselves, I have no choice but to do it for them.” Sure, he tries to get Dick to help Bruce, but he realizes pretty quickly that that isn’t going to work out.
Tim Drake tried to fight Superboy. You know, Superman’s clone? Invulnerable? Boy of steel? Literally only had one weakness that Tim didn’t have on him at the time??
Tim Drake is absolutely not the normal Robin. The comics really, really want me to believe that the kid who grew up in boarding school while his parents were off on business, the kid who took to being a Robin akin to Batman (ie. invisible, unnoticeable, unknown, a myth), the kid who got beat up by Jason Todd and then went “whoa, Jason Todd is back :),” the kid who Ra’s al Ghul is obsessed with, the kid who built his own vehicle; this kid is normal.
Yeah, okay. He’s perfectly normal. His dad being hinted at as being neglectful and literally abusive with how he breaks his kid’s things? Normal. Tim Drake knowing how to photograph the most paranoid man this side of the Rockies? Normal. Tim Drake deciding that it would actually be neat-o to don a suit that another kid died in to fight against people and beings that could and would absolutely kill him in a heartbeat? Completely. Normal.
Okay, DC. Whatever you say…

batfam x male child reader who likes collecting buttons and random things but also likes stealing random weapons bc they look cool like steals knives from damien and has gotten his hands on jason’s funda few times
Thanks for the idea anon! Sorry this took a while and I may have taken it to another direction, so I still hope you like this.
Summary: (Y/N) is a magnet for weapons. Especially if they are the property of his older brothers.
Warnings: Weapons, (Y/N) always getting his hands on weapons, Bruce being stressed and tired.
Tumblr media
Bruce didn't notice that (Y/N) had a liking towards weapons until the boy was 3. As any baby, he would want shiny and colorful things. It was only natural for babies. The boys knew that and always made sure to have something colorful on hand to entertain the boy.
But when he reached 3, he would seem to like weapons. Especially if it was from his brother's. (Y/N) would find a way to weapons, one way or another. The boys were sometimes careless and left weapons laying around, which scared the living lights out of Bruce more than one time.
Jason has even said that once (Y/N) grows up, he will be the most annoying Robin ever. And it's not like Bruce has started training him a little. Just in case something happens.
So, as fate would have, he was not gifted by a normal child, that likes baseball or some other sport or that likes something related to art. He got a kid that adores weapons. Almost a Damian 2.0.
Alfred would say he would grow out of it, he is just imitating his older brothers, but Bruce wasn't so sure. He really wasn't. So, to avoid such situations, Bruce told the boys to keep their weapons under lock and key. That was directed to Damian and Jason.
Now, the boy is 5 and... Bruce is even more stressed. (Y/N) is a magnet for weapons and he didn't start liking anything else. Bruce has tried. Baseball, drawing, collecting stamps, reading... But no... He has a 5th child who was in love with weapons.
So, the stress was now tripled.
Bruce got home from work, ready to go to bed and take a nap. He knew that (Y/N) would also like a nap, so he went to look for him. What he heard instead, made him regret coming home.
" (Y/N), give me back my knife! " Damian's voice rang out and it made him sigh. Not again.
He got ready as the footsteps got closer and closer. And once he saw (H/C) hair, he swooped him up, being careful of the knife.
" Papa! " (Y/N) exclaimed in surprise.
" (Y/N), what did we say about taking Damian's weapons? Especially his knifes? " Bruce asked, taking the knife and handing it back to Damian.
" Damian gave it to me. "
Bruce simply hummed and adjusted his youngest in his arms.
" (Y/N)… What did we say about taking blades? "
" That we shouldn't take them, but they are so pretty. Especially Damian's! " (Y/N) exclaimed, waving his arms around.
" I know, but they are also dangerous. "
(Y/N) pouted and simply leaned on Bruce's chest. He was slightly tired from all running around. Especially after stressing and getting Bruce some gray hairs.
" You tired bud? "
" Yes... Can you stay with me dad? "
Bruce smiled at him and nodded. He walked to his bedroom, before gently throwing his son on the bed. (Y/N) let out an oof, before giggling. Bruce quickly went to the bathroom and changed into some more comfortable clothes before snuggling his youngest son.
" Dad? "
" Yes bud? "
" Will I ever have blades? Like Damian and Jason? "
Bruce wanted to say no, you won't be surrounded by weapons, you will enjoy your life without them. And not damage my furniture.
" One day, when you get older. Your brothers will even teach you how to take care of them. "
" Really?! " (Y/N) asked, all excited.
" Yes. But for now, we can go to sleep. You did say that you are tired. "
(Y/N) didn't say anything, simply snuggling into Bruce's chest. Bruce put the covers higher and closed his eyes, making sure that his son was close to him.
Bruce sighed as he overlooked the preparations for the gala. Everything looked like perfect and more importantly, all the blades were... Somewhere safe, far away from (Y/N)'s reach. Not to mention they still had to monitor the young boy, hoping he wouldn't get his hands on any types of weapons. He doesn't want a headline in the news tomorrow.
" Okay guys, keep an eye on (Y/N). We can't have him running around with a blade in his hands. " Bruce said, tired.
Bruce got promises that there was going to be extra supervision over (Y/N). Maybe he will have a gala that won't be a disaster. For once... Bruce shook his head. Something is definitely going to go wrong tonight, something warranting a headline tomorrow.
Why does this always happen to him?
" Are you alright master Bruce? " Alfred asked, carrying the small bundle of joy that gives Bruce new gray hairs everyday.
" I have a feeling that something is going to go wrong Alfred. " Bruce said, opening his arms to take the young boy into his arms.
" Are we talking headline wrong master Bruce? "
" I don't want to say yes, but that's what I'm worried about. "
Bruce glanced down at the youngest, who was pouting.
" What's wrong bud? "
" I don't like this suit dad. "
Bruce adjusted him in his arms and gave him a kiss to the side of the head.
" I think there is an another reason, am I right? " Bruce smiled at his son.
(Y/N) had no access to blades for the whole day and was unhappy and grumpy. Bruce was proud of his boys for making sure that the blades were taken care of. Especially Damian and Jason.
(Y/N) didn't respond, simply looking away. Bruce chuckled at his son's behavior. He is a truly stubborn person.
" Oh don't be sad bud. "
Jason came into the room, wanting to hold (Y/N). Bruce gave him the toddler and Jason turned on his big brother magic.
" Don't be sad. " Jason said leaving the room. He knew Bruce wouldn't like to hear this.
" You know what we can do bud? " Jason asked waiting for the response. He got a shake of the head.
" We can sneak into Damian's room later and take a look at his blades, but, " Jason interrupted the excited child, " You need to be good tonight. No misbehaving. Now, give me a pinky promise. " Jason said, looping their pinkies together.
" Good. "
Now the only thing he needs is to let Damian know about the plan.
Bruce was suspicious of his youngest son. He was far too... Good. He wasn't creating chaos with the help of his brothers, so Bruce was confused and suspicious. He finished up a talk with one of his partners and looked for Jason. He knows Jason has something to do with this. He was the last one to talk with (Y/N) and he is behaving all of a sudden.
He found him at the table with food.
" Hey old man. "
" What did you say to (Y/N)? " Bruce asked, getting right to the point.
" What do you mean? " Jason asked, tilting his head to the right.
" Why is (Y/N) behaving? You are usually helping him with creating chaos around here. "
" I didn't do anything Bruce. " Jason said, leaving a frustrated Bruce behind.
He sighed as he turned to look at his son. He was with Damian and talking to Jon Kent. Speaking of the Kents, he needs to find Clark. Clark is (Y/N)'s favorite uncle and Clark will be able to talk to (Y/N) without making it sound suspicious.
" How's it going Bruce? " Clark asked.
" I don't know. (Y/N) is behaving well and I am suspicious. You need to use your uncle powers and talk to him. "
Clark chuckled at the uncle powers. He knew that (Y/N) loved him a lot.
" I will try to fish something out of him. "
" Thank you Clark. "
Clark got nothing. (Y/N) was either behaving because he wanted to or he was hiding something.
" Nothing Bruce. "
" What? " Bruce asked.
" Yup. He is either behaving well just because he wants to or he is hiding something. Nothing in between. "
" Oh (Y/N), what are you doing to me? "
He glanced at his son, now with Tim and Dick, who guarding him from the reporters who clearly wanted to talk to young boy.
The gala was over, there was no trouble and the boys went up to their rooms. Bruce talked with Clark for a bit, before escorting him out and going upstairs to his own room.
He stopped by Damian's once he heard Jason and some laughing that was far too child like. He opened the door and sighed. (Y/N) was on the carpet in the room, Damian sitting on his bed, looking amused. Jason was next to (Y/N) holding Damian's blades while (Y/N) was hypnotized by them.
" So this is the reason why he was behaving so well. " Bruce said.
(Y/N) didn't even react to Bruce being here.
" Okay, 15 more minutes then he is off to bed and we are off to patrol. Okay? " Bruce asked both of his sons.
They both nodded and Bruce went to the cave. He laughed to himself for a second, relishing in the fact that if (Y/N) wants to become a Robin, he will be the most annoying one.

Hallo! Could I possibly request a Tim Drake x M!Reader?
Seeing your autistic reader mirroring the batboys. I think it would be funny seeing the other Batboys (+ Batman maybe), react to reader and Tim mirroring eachother.
Maybe it doesn't start right away, but builds up steam over time. It starting with them rocking back in forth in sync while bouncing off info from an going case, to them picking up mannerisms.
Then maybe continued with their wardrobes becoming so mixed up, they just have double the clothes.
______
Honsetly, the thought of Damien being creeped out by Tim and Reader lifting their cups of coffee or energy drinks up in unison, makes me laugh harder than it should.
That or Bruce seeing Reader and Tim mirroring eachothers fighting style for the frist time and just like, 'what the fuck???'. Because, he probably tested Damien for autism snice they are blood, it's generic. Maybe, Dick for ADHD.
Then, it just slipped his mind to get Tim tested or even see the signs of autism in Tim. Because Bruce is autistic, so would just look at Tim and think, 'Yup, that's normal development .'

Tumblr media
Funny thing is I hc that pretty much the entire batfam is on the autism spectrum in some way or another. Bruce is autistic , Dick has ADHD or ADD, Jason has ASD or ODD, Tim is autistic, Damian is autistic and mild OCD.
Is this me projecting onto my comfort characters? Yes, yes it is. But come on, look at the batfam and tell me there isn’t at least a little tism in all of them.
You are also very right in Bruce just not noticing the signs in most of his kids since he’s autistic himself and that behavior is the norm for him. Alfred was most likely the one who had Bruce tested when he was younger, so it would have to be Alfred who steps in and advises them to get checked out, just in case.
Tim just happens to slip under the radar, maybe because of the stress at the time he joined the family, or they were all just too busy at the time, so it just slipped their minds.
Tim is also very good as masking, having grown up with his parents, acting “strange” wasn’t allowed, so he’s mastered the skill of hiding his less approved quirks. So, you’ll never see him stimming or rocking in public, or around people for that matter.
It was only after you two started dating and became very close that he started to let it slip, unconsciously of course. But it’s because he doesn’t feel the need to hide around you, and you are one of his comfort people.
The family doesn’t fully notice in the beginning as Tim grows more comfortable not masking and starts mirroring you. Infodumping is a common occurrence in the family, especially with the type of work they do, so when Tim is talking to you about cameras or his favorite band in extreme detail, They just think it’s a normal happening.
Damian is the first to notice, and he would think you two are trying to punk him somehow. When you and Tim always do things in tandem, picking up your drinks at the same time, always pushing your chairs back and getting up together, using the same type of glass or plates, etc.
He wouldn’t confront either of you obviously, since he doesn’t want to play into your hands. But then your mirroring becomes even more obvious. Like mirroring stims, meaning Tim starts stimming the same way you do.
Do you flap your hands? Tim now does too. Verbal stims? Catch Tim making the same noises over comms during patrol. You both also come to enjoy the same textures if you don’t already, because those textures remind you of each other.
It finally clicks for Bruce when he sees Tim and you wearing each other’s clothes and using stim toys, whilst rocking back and forth on the couch, excited to see your comfort movie. It makes Bruce want to facepalm because it’s been so obvious this entire time.
When he asks Alfred about it, the Brit just gives him a bland look whilst saying something along the lines of “Master Bruce, I thought it was obvious from the start”, because Bruce has a habit picking up kids with the tism.
After that Tim finally gets tested and gets his diagnosis. Not that it changes anything other than what’s on paper. But it does help Tim feel better, as in the past he probably struggled with feeling wrong or like he didn’t fit in.
When Damian also realizes you two weren’t trying to dupe him, he settles with his arms crossed and huffs, saying that of course that was the reason since you two couldn’t get the upper hand on him anyways.
The entire fam shares fidget toys or different coping things. The house is stocked with everyone’s comfort food, clothes, media, etc. The walls are made so sound doesn’t pass through them, the fridge and electronics are also upgraded so they don’t make those buzzing sounds. It’s like autism heaven.
You also are included since your dating Tim, and you two are very happy together. The family is also thankful in you helping Tim come out of his shell, even though neither of you realized you were doing it.

Bleeding Heart [five]
Tumblr media
warnings: arguing (jaybird is jelly), stalking
one, two, three, four
❥❥❥
Jason was seething as he fought to not break Dick’s nose.
Maybe that would wipe the stupid, irritating grin off his face. The oldest hadn’t stopped smiling since patrol started and Jason was acutely aware of why.
Jason was territorial, possessive, whatever you want to call it. The thing loomed over him like an inescapable shadow. He knew it existed, clawing at his subconscious, burning in his chest, threatening to swallow him whole. After growing up with close to nothing to his name, it was ingrained in him to hold anything he cared about away from anyone who may take it from him.
And he cared about Leia. He cared about Callum.
To admit it was something that kept him up in the early hours of dawn after patrol, especially after he’d seen Leia and Dick chatting it up a block away from their apartment complex. She was smiling, laughing. He tried, he really tried, but the thing on his shoulder bared its ugly, bloody teeth.
Leia and Callum had become his little slice of peace, a sign of hope. They were an island oasis in a sea of never-ending chaos, a breath of fresh air after choking down ash and smoke for a lifetime.
Without even realizing, he’d gotten their schedule down to a T.
He started coming and going when they were. He waited a few minutes to go on patrol for the chance to have a longer conversation with Leia when she’d come back from her shifts tired and sore. She would offer him a pretty smile and she’d lean against a wall, telling him about her shift before picking up Callum from her neighbor. He figured out what time Callum walked home from the bus when Leia couldn’t be there and offered to start walking him back. That way, she wouldn't have to rush home and Callum was sure to make it back to the complex safe and sound. After some understandable hesitation, Leia allowed it and gave him her number to contact her.
He had her number saved in his phone as L, one of the few marked in his favorites.
Callum was a bright kid with a smile to match. He would rattle off about his day while they walked, barely pausing long enough to breathe. When the kid admitted he was having trouble in math, Jason started quizzing him randomly on their walks.
If Jason was being honest with himself – which didn’t happen often – he was finding the silence in his apartment unbearable as the echoes of the family of two across the hall flitted through the walls like a butterfly he could never catch.
The mother and son were unbearably normal, but that’s what made them so special. These were the people he fought for and here they were, giving him the time of day and treating him like a person rather than a soldier.
Dick didn’t understand it. He couldn’t. He was the favorite son, the favorite brother, the golden boy. He didn’t understand what it was to be completely alone without anyone to be there purely because they cared. Dick had people who didn't look at him like he was a monster, Jason did.
“Wipe that dumbass grin off your face.”
“What?” Nightwing’s head spun to the side, cheesy grin disappearing like he’d been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
“You heard me,” Red Hood replied gruffly, crossing his arms to keep his arms from swinging. “And back the hell off. She doesn’t need you.”
“Are you…are you calling dibs?” He had the audacity to laugh as if this was a joke. “Leia –”
Red Hood slammed Nightwing into the brick wall behind him so hard it was sure to leave bruises on the oldest’s back. He didn’t bother holding back his strength, a gift from his revival only proven as his teal eyes faded into glowing green under his helmet.
“Don’t fucking say her name.”
Nightwing didn’t fight him, didn’t push him off, just looked at him casually, putting his hands up. “Is it a crime to want to meet the girl that’s got my brother like this?”
“Fuck. Off.”
“What’s going on?” Batman’s deep, gravelly voice made Red Hood back off with a final shove.
“Nothing.” Red Hood scoffed, the scowl of his helmet only conveying half of the look he was giving Nightwing. “Back off,” he hissed, modulated voice making it sound more like a growl.
He didn’t bother sticking around, jumping off the roof. Hopefully beating the shit out of some low lives would ease the weight on his chest.
❥
Nightwing rolled his shoulders, watching Red Hood disappear into the night. He honestly hadn’t even realized he was smiling until Red Hood snapped him out of his stupor. He was going over his conversation with Leia, scrambling to think of another excuse to see her again which led to the thought of a real date, but the daydream was ruined.
He wasn’t expecting such a strong reaction from Jason. Usually, the light teasing got him a grunt at best. Of course, he knew teasing Jason about his neighbor should've stayed a taboo thing neither of them brought up again, but could you really blame him?
Leia was a kind, smart, beautiful woman. Even though his brother just technically called dibs, his thoughts were just that, thoughts. They would stay there -- at least that's what he told himself.
“Care to explain?” Batman’s voice made Nightwing sigh.
While he wouldn’t usually fess up to something like this, he thought it best if Bruce heard it from him rather than anyone else.
“Remember that girl, Leia, that stitched him up a few nights ago?”
Batman squinted though it looked more like a glare and crossed his arms.
“Yeah, well I’m pretty sure he’s got a thing for her or something like that. I was curious so I happened to meet her yesterday and we hit it off. Now, Red is pissed cause he thinks he called some sort of dibs? Not sure honestly.” He shrugged though he knew damn well by Jason’s reaction that his feelings were deeper than just ‘a thing’.
Saying it outloud made a pit grow in Dick’s chest. Jason truly cared for Leia, probably loved her. A part of Dick wanted to leave it, drop any sort of interest in the girl and let Jason be. Another part though whispered in his ear sickly sweet half-truths and promises.
“What’s so special about her?” Robin’s voice called down from his perch above Nightwing who was well aware he had been eavesdropping since Red Hood left.
Nightwing opened his mouth to scold the boy, but Batman beat him to it.
“Every person has value, regardless of who they are.” He uncrossed his arms and glanced around the shadows of the roof. “Where’s Red Robin?”
❥
Tim Drake was known for being thorough.
Most days, it helped him pursue the cold cases that landed on his desk along with handling the many difficulties Wayne Enterprises had. It allowed him to juggle his double life with, albeit, little grace, but the job got done. That being said, it was also known that despite being thorough, that often led to a habit of a small obsession with finishing the job.
Tonight was yet another example of such…thoroughness.
Leia Barnett was a curious case. Clean as a whistle with a past shrouded in grief, a combination that was undeniably odd in their world. A car crash had almost cost her and her son their lives and it took away her best friend. On paper she snapped into action as soon as she recovered instead of wallowing and rotting in her pain. She didn't let it control her, at least that's what he assumed. Yet another oddity in a world where it was so easy to get lost in one’s pain, to writhe in it and let it eat you alive.
She was smiling, moving around her kitchen with ease as she cooked a new pasta dish he’d seen pop up a few nights prior on her search history. Meanwhile, Callum sat at the small table painting. He’d smeared a streak of green across his nose a moment ago but didn’t seem to notice. He finished his homework a while ago, breezing through most of it as usual. According to Willow Creek Elementary’s database, his grades were fantastic in everything except math, but even those had been going up in the past few weeks.
A soft, mechanical click of a camera captured the moment.
Tim looked down at the picture, smiling fondly as it appeared on screen. One of many in his quickly growing collection.
He had yet to meet her unlike his older brothers, but he knew more about Callum and his mother than either of them, something he held over their heads even if they didn't know it. He knew Callum loved to paint, color, draw – anything that gave him the freedom to scatter an image across a surface was fair game. He knew he didn’t have many friends but the few he had were good kids (Tim had vetted each of the kid's parents to make sure Callum wouldn't be badly influenced).
He knew Leia’s favorite color was purple, lilac to be specific. He knew she enjoyed fantasy books but had a hard time finding time to read the many on her shelf. He knew she was bisexual, just like him (something that they could bond over) and that her mother was a horrible person, having kicked Leia out as soon as she found out. And he knew that she made it through that too.
Leia was strong. She was cunning and resourceful when it came down to it, he'd watched it in real time. She had a big, bleeding heart; her empathy knew no bounds. Tim wondered if that was why she humored Jason. Maybe she could see through the harsh exterior and pitied him which made him wonder what she would see in him.
In the beginning, Tim swore to himself that this was innocent, that this was just curiosity, he just wanted to make sure that she was clean. He promised it was to make sure Jason was okay as he spent his free time watching her work through the hospital's cameras.
He wasn't sure when it turned into...this. Once he started watching, he couldn't look away. His eyes were glued to his screens, writing and rewriting whatever notes he could scramble onto anything he could.
Tim was enamored by Leia. He often thought about meeting her, speaking to her instead of just watching over her and her son from a distance. He liked to think he was their guardian, much like he was to the rest of Gotham. He didn’t need to be there like Jason and Dick (though it would be nice). She was a blazing hearth, something to be cared for and watched over in fear that it would eventually fade.
Eventually, the wind picked up, chasing away his thoughts, reminding where he was, who he was.
Who was he, someone who was tarnished by vigilantism, to stand in her warmth? How badly he wanted to join his brothers, escape from the shadows and step into her light.
So, for now, a photo of what could be was enough.
❥
“Mama! Mama! Look!”
The loud screech of the wood chair on the floor followed by the scrambling of little feet brought Leia out of her cooking. She was a creature of habit with a young child, so they tended to have the same meals on rotation. Someone could only have hot dogs so many times. However, she was going to try giving her picky six-year-old something new and pray she didn’t just spend good money and work an hour on this meal for nothing.
“Hmm?” She peered down as Callum tugged on her purple sweater, probably smearing paint on the edges. Thank goodness she bought the washable paint this time.
He was holding a paper behind his back, shyly smiling up at her.
“Let’s see it.” Leia waved a hand and leaned back on the counter.
“Tadaaa!” He held up his picture, paint still drying. “What do you think Mama? That’s you, then me, and that’s Mr. Jason! It’s us at the park.”
He pointed to a smiling stick figure with a blue shirt and blue pants which she assumed was her scrubs, then another smiling figure much smaller than the other two, and a third that was taller than the other two figures that had black hair and a white streak that was turning gray thanks to the mixing paint. Behind them was a bright yellow sun and a few gray clouds with smiley faces. They stood on green grass with a familiar yellow slide in the background.
“It looks great, honey.” Leia laughed lightly.
“Do you think Mr. Jason would like it? He’s really nice.”
“I’m sure he’d love it.”
“Do you like him?”
Leia choked on air, staring at her son with wide eyes. “W-What?”
“Do you like him?” Callum’s head tilted to the side innocently.
Leia stared at him before shaking her head. “Yes, I like Mr. Jason. He’s a good person.” She took the picture from Callum, holding it up to the light like she was inspecting it. “I think this is fridge worthy, don’t you?”
“Yay!” Callum cheered, throwing his small arms in the air and rushed over to the metal fridge, picking out the green T-rex magnet.
“Hmm. Where do you think?”
Callum’s face scrunched up, looking between the dozen pictures that decorated the fridge. “Above that one!” He pointed to the top corner, above one of a black kitten he said he saw walking home with Jason.
Once it was up, they both took a step back to admire the fridge that had almost no space left. Leia chuckled, picking Callum up and placed him on her hip.
“It looks perfect.” She nuzzled the side of his paint covered face making him burst into giggles.
“Mama!” He whined, trying to wiggle away.
“Okay, okay, go clean up. Dinner is almost ready.”
“But –”
“Shoo. The sooner you’re clean, the sooner we can eat.”
He pouted for a moment before going to wash his hands and face like she asked. While he went to clean up, Leia brought everything away from the stove and turned off the heat. She then walked over to the table, tidying up Callum’s watercolors, frowning when she noticed he was running low and made a mental note to go get some for him soon.
As she moved to put his paint brushes in the sink, she noticed a figure leap between the roofs across the street. It was only a millisecond, but she saw the cape fall between the buildings, disappearing into the shadows.
Her heart stuttered, wondering if one of the bats was there to confront her about Red Hood. According to the news, Hood and the bats were on good terms again seeing as Hood had lightened up on his bloodier approach to crime. She waited for the shadow to move again, but when nothing happened, she sighed in relief.
Slightly paranoid now, she dropped the brushes in the sink before checking the locks on the windows then shut the blinds.
Hopefully, it was just a coincidence.

OH I never posted my 2012 version of Danny.
He's less Sillay than the Rise version (and is also a trans guy)
-
Obviously in this AU, Danny is not Mondo (because that's Jason) and stays human for the course of the series, but the two were close friends before Jason got mutated and disappeared. They have similar hobbies and home lives (ie, poor relationships with their families), although in this AU Danny doesn't run away from home. Their bond gets severed when Jason is mutated and they don't really reconnect until they're older and a very nervous Jason calls him to explain things.
I kind of envision Danny's life being pretty different in the 2012 AU. He doesn't run away and join the Foot, or meet the turtles, which means he never gets mutated and basically has to live out a "normal" teenage life. He gives up on skating a little bit after he loses Jason and instead gets more interested in music and even starts learning to make his own. He was also 100% a Minecraft kid & probably had his own let's play channel with 3 subscribers lmao
I think 2012 Danny probably has a lot more gender troubles than his Rise counterpart too (the idea of growing into a Human Woman is a hell of a lot more stressful to her than the idea of just being a big lizard- Rise Danny really lucked out with that one tbh), as well as a lot more General Emotional Troubles from being stuck with his family. I'm sure he'll be fine though
Oh and he's even more of a klepto in this version.

What do you think the slashers would get up to in a more normal world where they just got therapy and DIDN'T kill anyone? Like I think Brahms would've become a composer tbh, I headcanon he writes his own music? And Tommy'd probably still just work in the slaughterhouse or, if the slaughterhouse still closed down, as a farmhand??
What if the Slashers never became Slashers?
Thomas Hewitt
If the slaughterhouse never shut down, Thomas would definitely still be working there. It's the only real job available for people in that town, for many it will be their first and last job.
However, if the slaughterhouse still closed down and Charlie didn't instantly jump to cannibalism, Thomas would be eager to get back to work.
I see him working physical labour. Thomas knows that his strengths are, well...he's strength.
I could see him working as a farmhand or in construction of some sort.
Plus, it would really work on his confidence. Having a job where his natural size and strength were something to be proud of, that helps him and makes him effective.
Hopefully he'll get some nicer co-workers...I just want him to be happy.
Michael Myers
Michael is in therapy his whole childhood. His family spot the early signs that cause concern and get him help.
He's still pretty quiet, not super social, but not mute or irresponsive.
I remember reading a post ages ago about Michael receiving effective therapy and receiving consistent support from his family and I wanted to link it here but I couldn't find it again, I feel like that said everything I want to say 😂
Anyway, maybe he still spends some time in Smith's Grove but gets released back into he parent's care.
He develops a really good relationship with Laurie. She grows up visiting him and becomes an encouraging factor in his therapy.
In this universe, I suppose Michael would be a 'functioning psychopath' if that's what you want to call it. He'd still have a personality disorder but he has developed coping mechanisms to help him in life.
It's difficult to say what he might go on to do career wise but I think for Michael it's more important and interesting to think about his interpersonal relationships.
Jason Voorhees
Camp counsellor Jason!
Now, I can see this going two ways.
Firstly, lets say Jason loved camp. He made at least one friend, got to a bunch of fun activities, summer camp was the best time of year for him even if it wasn't perfect.
In this case, Jason would go back to work there so he could give other shy and bullied kids the same experience.
Alternatively, everything went the same expect Jason didn't drown. He was still thrown into the lake, the kids still laughed, the counsellors still weren't around, but he somehow survived.
He would have still hated camp but that would be what motivates him to go and work there.
He wanted it to be better for other kids, to make sure that if another poor child got tossed into the lake, there would be a counsellor around to protect/save them. He would be there for them.
Brahms Heelshire
As much as I love the idea of Brahms becoming a composer, I have to admit that I have less faith in him.
Assuming that his parents still spoiled him beyond belief and let him get away with shit, just no fires or death or anything, Brahms would be a little shit his whole life.
He'd become a rich fuckboi.
He'll have gone to some private school.
He'd have every opportunity to become a composer, so it's absolutely possible, I just imagine he would go through a 'rebellious' phase.
He's smart and I'd imagine he'd get pretty good grades, it will just take him some time to calm down and actually get his mind set on a career.
He's going to be living off of his family's money for a while.
But maybe he ends up being a composer and becomes his best self...
Bo Sinclair
I can see a few options for Bo.
I think he would still be a bit of a wild card in his teenage and young adult years but in the end I think his brothers are still important to him and he would want to stay close.
He might help Vincent run Ambrose a little.
If he does have a genuine passion or talent when it comes to cars, he might become a legit mechanic. I imagine he likes the process of fixing up cars, it gives him something to focus on.
I could also see him owning his own bar, somewhere near Ambrose, he and Vincent sending business each other's way.
Vincent Sinclair
Vincent stays at the wax museum.
He continues his mother's legacy and brings a whole new life to the infamous House of Wax. He modernises the museum while still paying tribute to his mother.
And he does a good job, managing to bring a whole new life to Ambrose again. The tourist just keep coming to visit the House of Wax.
Maybe he even sticks to the Town of Wax idea and fills the abandoned town with wax figures but in a less murdery way.
That would serve to bring more tourists in.
I like the idea that he also sells some of his artwork, kind of like a side hustle.
His main focus is the House of Wax but he occasionally sells his other creations.
Lester Sinclair
Sure, Lester might just stick with his roadkill clean up gig but I think he is likely to remain close to his brothers either way.
I kind of like the idea of Bo being a mechanic and Lester working with him, likely his only employee but Bo can be a bit of a control freak.
Lester is a simple guy and finds joy in the smalls things.
Whatever job he has, he's likely happy with it.
He lives for time at home with Jonesy or dinners with his brothers.
And he's always more than happy to help Vincent out around Ambrose.
Bubba Sawyer
He would love to just work on his family's farm. Family is important to Bubba and I think he would love farm work.
He wouldn't mind working out in the sun, planting and tending to crops.
He doesn't mind the heavy lifting and manual labour.
However, he would love working with the animals.
He would work so well with them and they would love him.
Just imagine Bubba cuddling a little baby cow!!!
Billy Lenz
Hmmm Billy's is kinda difficult.
We don't get to know much about him but I headcanon that he's a big fan of movies and tv.
Maybe he had a part time job in a movie theatre as a teenager, just feeding his love for media.
Anyway, he goes through a shit ton of therapy. And it's effective in this case.
Maybe after leaving the institution he received his care in, he'd go back to school.
Hopefully he will find a passion for something there, starting to develop a more clear plan for his future.
Asa Emory (The Collector)
I mean, I think I've made my stance on this pretty clear.
Professor Emory.
He teaches entomology, of course.
The students either love him or hate him. He's very strict but if you perform well in his class, he'll take that into consideration.
In his time off, he's a pretty secluded person, preferring his own company.
He sticks with his usual hobbies, just with bugs instead of people.
His home is covered in preserved specimens, it's a genuine hobby that hasn't been twisted horrifically.
Jesse Cromeans (Chromeskull)
Jesse likes power and he likes money.
So, with the less psychopathic, sadistic, murderous desires, he's going to be a CEO of some successful business.
It's difficult to picture Jesse in anything but that black suit of his.
However, in that one flashback we get in the second film, it seems that his father was a mortician.
So if certain fetishes hadn't formed, maybe he would take over his father's business, owning his own mortuary.
Otis Driftwood
I think in a world were Otis wasn't already obsessed with death and torture, meeting the Fireflies would have been great for him.
They're an eccentric bunch but they'd love him unconditionally.
Otis doesn't want to do anything big with his life, especially not with his career. He still wants to focus mostly on having fun, so he gets small job to make some money.
Probably working with Spaulding at the gas station or in some dive bar.
That being said, I don't see a world where Otis is a model citizen.
He might not be a murder in this universe but he has a history of violence, stupid bar fights and the like. He's also a bit of a petty thief.
If some drunk leaves his wallet on the bar...he can't not take it.
Baby Firefly
The last thing Baby wants to do it work. She just wants to focus as much time as she can on having fun.
Plus, she can't stay focused on one thing long enough to hold down a job with a real boss.
She knows how to get things for free, how to get other people to pay for things, how to get her family to give her what she needs.
It's in her name! She's the baby of the family, they'd do anything for her.
Her and Otis have mastered the art of petty theft.
The two of them can be quite the con artists when they put their mind to it.
However, I can see her doing the hair, makeup, and nails of local women in the area for some pocket money.

TW: Threats of violence (literally like one kicky boi happens)
Little Dick Grayson, his new ward, was staring at Bruce as he exited the clock in his study. The little boy sat in his large, black swivel chair and stared at him as he awkwardly shuffled out of the secret entrance. Bruce was pretty sure that 3 am was much too late??? early??? for little boys to be awake. (But how would he know, it's not like he slept much at Dick's age).
Bruce froze, wide-eyed and blinking at his ward. Dick continued to stare at him. After a moment of tense silence, Dick spoke, accusingly, "I know your secret."
The way Dick said it, so accusingly, made Bruce panic. Oh God, he knew it was a bad idea to take in a human ward. He didn't know jackshit about humans!
The only human he regularly saw on a day to day basis was Alfred, who was hired specifically for his discretion on other worldly matters. Alfred had known Bruce for the last forty-five years and was used to his nature but Dick? Dick was a normal ten-year-old human boy. All he knew about vampires probably came from media. Dick was probably afraid of Bruce!
Bruce should have been more careful. He knew that his ward was aware that he didn't sleep most nights but he also thought Dick had assumed he was sleeping during the day! In hindsight, not knowing what human children ate was probably obvious (how was Bruce supposed to know that ten-year-old humans were beyond infant food?) But still! Bruce even ate in front of Dick once to keep up the ruse (Sure, Alfred informed him that eating a whole, raw potato in three bites was strange but the thought count!)
Bruce winced at the tiny human's accusation. Maybe if he said it before Dick could say it, Dick would be less mad?
"I'm a vampire!""You're Batman!"
Bruce and Dick blinked owlishly at each other. Mentally, Bruce was relieved. His ward, who was so very smart, had obviously known about his demonic nature (it was very obvious in hindsight) but had been inquiring of his alternate identity. Bruce could have laughed of relief. His boy wasn't vampphobic, he simply was peeved that Bruce left the house at odd times of night to fight crime without telling him.
Bruce smiled brightly at his little boy (who looked mildly perturbed about the smile), "You're a smart one, chum! I'm Batman!"
Bruce was happy. His ward, who he was beginning to care for very deeply, now knew every side of him. Everything was going perfectly.
-
Everything was not going perfectly.
In the twelve years following his acquisition of Dick, Bruce had acquired seven more children (five legally, one biologically (with some overlap), and two only emotionally).
Bruce was proud of each and every one of his children. He was thrilled to get to watch them grow into caring, respectful people with their own individual goals and ambitions. He was proud of how they handled themselves but, in the moment, Bruce was not proud of how they were acting.
"C'mon, Demon Spawn, get it back!" taunted Jason as he held Damian's prized katana over his head.
Damian and Tim had gotten into another one of their brawls, with Tim making a snide remark or two and Damian rising to the bait as always. Damian had ended up pulling his sword on Tim, hellbent on making his brother see his point. The two ended up trading blows, Tim with his staff and Damian with his sword, until Jason had come over and plucked Damian's katana out of his grasp with his thick gloves.
Now, Jason and Steph, who was Tim's self-declared best friend and therefore also on his side, were playing a dangerous game of keep away with Damian. They continued to taunt and tease an increasingly frustrated Damian while Tim stood laughing in the background.
Bruce knew his youngest son and could tell that he was seconds away crying, if the reddening of his cheeks and wobbling of his jaw wasn't enough, Damian was also wiping at his eyes when he thought his siblings couldn't see.
Bruce felt frustrated with his kids. Yes, he knew that Damian could be abrasive sometimes but he was just a baby. Everybody knew that vampires didn't reach adulthood until about forty and, as a ten-year-old, Damian was especially immature. While he may look like a human child of that age, he still was much worse at self-regulating and needed much more affection than his human counterpart. He knew that his human children sometimes forgot that fact and other facts about vampires (like the fact that vampire children play fight like puppies and that they really shouldn't be making Damian's games so heated and personal with slurs).
Bruce normally tried to let his children stop fighting by themselves but another sing-songy shout of "I got your swooord, Demon Brat!" pushed Bruce to his limit. He stood up and slammed down his case file, ready to yell at his kids when Dick and Barbara burst in.
"We figured out what that new gang is doing!" shouted Dick, in full Nightwing regalia, as he pushed Barbara into the cave at frightening speeds.
The sudden entrance of the two with information on a case prompted the fight to end (which, while Bruce appreciated, he knew he still needed to talk to his kid's again about not using language like that).
Jason, who had ended with the katana, dropped the weapon on the couch before sauntering over to join Dick and Barbara. "What'chu got?" he asked the two of them.
The rest of the Bats moved closer, trying to listen to the intel. Barbara pushed her glasses up, like she did when she had a particularly interesting fact to tell someone about blood spatter. "These guys are kind of crazy but apparently they're legit, I double checked what they do with John Constantine."
Bruce was intrigued. A gang involved in magic that John said was legit could be dangerous for Gotham. "What are they doing?" he asked, prompting Barbara to continue.
Barbara smiled and cleared her throat and continued to read the report, "They all wear high-neck guards and silver crosses on their person," Bruce didn't love that sound of that. It sounded almost like- "And they carry around the cloves and flowers of garlic and holy water!" Bruce felt something inside himself go cold. Damian, who standing beside him, scooched himself under his father's clock and Bruce squeezed him tight. "Most notably, they all carry around wooden stakes and enough lighter fluid and lighters for a Fourth of July party!" Bruce's horrible suspicion was confirmed. Vampire hunters.
The practice was archaic but there were still people who thought that vampires were dangers to society and decided to hunt them down like animals. Bruce knew that Gotham had, at one point, been the home to the largest coven of vampires in the world. Vampire hunters where the reason that that coven no longer existed. They were the reason that Bruce's parents had died when he was still a child. Bruce hated vampire hunters and now they were actively trying to gain footing in his city.
Bruce's mouth felt drier than it had felt during the two years he had spent without drinking. In his arms, Damian was shaking; terrified. Bruce squeezed his son closer and nuzzled his hair before looking up and clarifying, "John said they were legit?" His voice sounded gravely even to his ear and he prayed that maybe he had somehow misunderstood what Barbara had said. He hoped that they weren't actually vampire hunters.
Barbara looked puzzled, "Yeah, that's what I said. Bruce, what's wrong?" 'What's wrong?' she asked, as if Bruce's city wasn't being invaded by the only force he couldn't stop. The only force he couldn't protect his family from.
Jason snorted, "Ain't this a good thing? These guys can take care of vamps for us so they ain't our problem." Bruce's other human children made noises of agreement and Bruce, who had foolishly thought he was scared a few seconds before, was terrified.
Bruce clutched Damian to his chest and stumbled a few steps back, folding himself over Damian and turn his back to the threat, away from the children he loved who would see him destroyed. He saw, from his inhumanely large peripheral, Dick, who he had stupidly assumed would never begrudge him for his nature, take a step forward and hesitantly reached out his hand. Bruce narrowed his eyes and turned his face toward him to hiss and extend his fangs out in a clear threat.
"Bruce," Dick said, stepping closer, "We didn't realize vampires had gotten to you. We can fix this, we didn't mean you. Just give us Damian and we can help you." Bruce, who had started to calm himself at his son's soothing tone, panicked again when he heard the rest of his son's offer. They wanted Damian.
Bruce had known that Damian and his other children didn't always get along. He had seen the angry looks and heard the biting words (he had, after all, lectured them time and time again about not using vampire slurs against their brother). But most of the remarks had been calling him 'Demon Spawn' or 'Hell Child', so Bruce thought they were mostly focusing some of their vampire fear on him. He had thought the angry looks were jealousy at the attention that Damian received; he thought they were jealous the way kids with new baby siblings were always jealous, mad they got less attention but also understanding it was needed by the baby.
Bruce hadn't realized how deep this vitriol and hate ran. He didn't expect them to take the first vampire hunters to come around as an opportunity to get rid of their baby brother. Bruce loved his human children and could never hurt them but Damian was a baby. Bruce would not let them hurt him due to misguided anger.
Bruce stood up and shoved Damian behind him. He spread his cape wide to hide Damian from their sight and make himself appear bigger. Bruce bared his fangs at his children and screeched like the bat he was named for.
His human children (his little babies) pulled out their weapons. They were his children and they were always prepared (if they were his children, why hadn't he noticed their bigotry?). Dick's escrima sticks crackled ominously, Jason cocked one of his guns, Tim and Steph readied their bo staffs, back-to-back, and Barbara whipped out a Glock.
Bruce wasn't immortal. No being could be. Sure, he had a longer life span and sure, without wooden stakes, it was harder to kill him than the average person. But Bruce was very much not immortal. Normally, when Bruce fought against an ally there was some button to destroy or some foe to subdue for the fight to stop. His children right now where clear-headed. This is what they thought was best. He had been unknowingly allowing this anti-vampire sentiment to fester in his home and now he was paying the price.
He looked back at his little boy, his Damian. When his son met his gaze, his green eyes where filled with tears and his face was red and blotchy. His son looked scared. Bruce knew, in that moment, that allowing his other children to kill him so that Damian could escape was the right choice. He understood what his parents had done that day decades ago.
He smiled at Damian and his brave little boy gave him a wobbly smile back. 'Go' he mouthed at Damian and Damian's face fell. Damian lunged forward, into Bruce's back, and gave him a crushing hug. Then Damian rocked back, his face determined and nodded. Bruce smiled at his son one last time before launching himself forward at his waiting and deadly children.
Bruce was immediately met with force. He tried to keep himself and the cape big to cover Damian's escape. Right away, he was dodging the crackling electricity of Dick's escrima sticks but, as he dodged a hit to his right shoulder, he was immediately met with a bo staff inches from his face. He grabbed the staff and forced it down, throwing Stephanie over his left shoulder and into the couch.
The time it took to launch Stephanie at the furniture, allowed Dick to get a good and painful jab onto his leg. His leg seized and, as he arched away from the pain, he saw Jason, who he had assumed was staying out of the fight due to the dangers of a gun in such small quarters, chasing after Damian.
Bruce felt his eyes widen and, in his distraction, Dick and Tim wrestled both of his arms behind his back. Bruce lunged forward and screamed, falling to his knees in his desperation. "Leave him alone!" he all but shrieked, "Don't hurt him! Please, Jason! Jason, I know you don't like our kind just-" Bruce's voice broke. This was so fucked up. He was begging his one son for the life of his other, "Please." he begged.
The hands restraining him let him go and Bruce slumped forward and watched as Jason dragged Damian, kicking and screaming forward. When Damian saw Bruce, his eyes lit up and, though he still looked scared, he tugged even more forcefully toward Bruce. Jason let him go and Damian hurled himself into Bruce's waiting arms.
Bruce squeezed his boy tight, enveloping them in his cloak and crying into Damian's hair. He had failed. He had failed and now they would both die. At least Damian was going to be awarded this one last comfort.
"Hey, Bruce?" said Jason in a soft and kind (?) voice a few steps away. Bruce looked up, pressing Damian's face into his chest. "I feel like we're missing something," continued Jason.
Dick and Tim had, at some point, moved from behind Bruce to next to their brother, a few feet in front of Bruce. Dick nodded empathetically, "We thought, when you grabbed Damian, that you were trying to hurt him or hold him hostage or something? Because you got turned into a vampire? But then you tried to act as a diversion for his escape and Damian looked terrified just now when Jason had him so... What's going on?"
Bruce, who's brain still felt foggy from the whole my-children-want-to-kill-me-and-their-brother thing and even more so now that they had done a complete one eighty, just blinked up at Dick and the rest of his present children, who had all crowded around him as he talked. Dick blinked at him. Bruce blinked again before shaking his head, "I'm a vampire?" he said, phrasing it like a question.
Jason, who had looked guilty the entire time, let out a barked, slightly hysterical laugh, "We gathered that. But you seemed so normal, since when?"
Bruce was feeling that floating, dissociat-y feeling again and blinked rapidly before answering, "Uh, since I was-" his tongue felt too big for his mouth "born, so like the last fifty-seven years."
The cave was silent for a brief moment. The bats were screeching and Bruce could here the muffled, hiccuping cries of Damian into his chest. All of his kids were staring at him and then it became pandemonium. "The whole-""-didn't tell me!""-never would have-""-in retrospect-""-mean, holy secrets, Batman!"
Damian, who has picked up on the fact that he was no longer going to be actively murdered, also poked his head out of the cape to whisper in a cupped hand next to Bruce's ear, "They are rather slow, aren't they Father?"
That did it for Bruce. The combination of stress from the vampire hunters, betrayel from what he thought his kids wanted, and whiplash from the fact that his kids didn't know made Bruce cackle. He started laughing, somewhat hysterically, at the fact that somehow, for the last twelve or so years, none of his kids, some of best detectives in the world, had realized he was a vampire.
His kids, who had still been throwing questions at him and each other, quieted. Bruce laughed and forced himself to calm down to address his concerned looking kids and the little one poking his cheek in worry. "Sorry, sorry" he gasped for air "But how?" he asked.
Tim, who still looked concerned for his father's sanity, ventured forward to ask, "What do you mean?"
Bruce gasped again before asking, "How did none of you figure out I was a vampire, my whole bat thing? My entire aesthetic? How did none of that tip you off?" Bruce rose to his feet, his chest still hitching, and he slung Damian to his hip as he asked.
His kids ventured to look at each other before Barbara answered, "I met you like elevenish years ago, back then you were super mopey. I thought-" she interrupted herself, clearly embarrassed to continue before whispering, "you were emo??"
Dick nodded along, "Yeah, on the same vein of what Babs is saying. I mean, back then I just figured you were weird. I mean you ate a whole, raw potato once. So I just figured the whole dark aesthetic and light-aversion thing you had going on was just another quirk or maybe you didn't know what sun screen was," Bruce herded his children to the couch as Dick talked. "I got used to it eventually so I figured stuff like that was just Bruce™ things."
All of the kids collapsed on the couch and Bruce followed, with a clingy Damian still on his chest. They were all emotionally exhausted from what had just happened but they needed to have that talk. Dick mentioning the potato thing reminded Bruce, "Did none of you notice the fact that I don't eat food?" he asked, quirking a brow.
All of his children seemed to think, trying to remember a time when Bruce had eaten and apparently coming up blank. Jason shrugged, "I guess I assumed it was a workhokic rich boy thing, Timmy here don't eat either."
He leaned over to give Tim a half-hearted noogie and Tim shoved him off before adding, "No, I have seen you drink before. I-" Tim looked like he really didn't want to ask.
Bruce, good father that he is, spared his son from asking, "Those were blood packs," he says.
That gets a bit of reaction from his kids, several noises of disgust and Steph loudly complaining "I thought the Capri-Suns had gone bad! Noooo, it was blood!" However, they see Damian tense on Bruce's lap and quickly go quiet again.
Babs breaks the silence. "You were trying to protect Damian from us. Is he..?" She tried to ask it delicately but her curiosity for the unknown showed through.
Bruce nods, "Damian is a full blooded vampire, the League of Assassins is one of the most infamous vampire covens on the globe." Babs nods thoughtfully, absorbing the new information. Bruce knows that tomorrow, when the news is less fresh and Bruce is less tense, Babs will be asking all about vampire development and Bruce will be happy to indulge her, just not now.
Damian had started scanning his siblings' faces when he had become the subject of the conversation. For the first time since his siblings had started playing keep-away, Damian started to relax. He doesn't seem totally satisfied with the conversation wrapping up and he puffs out his cheeks a bit before asking, "Were you not calling me 'Demon Brat' and other slurs due to my vampire nature?" He looks geniuenly perplexed, like he couldn't picture any other reason for such mean spirited names. Now that Bruce can see that the nicknames were affectionate sibling ribbing, Bruce is heartbroken for his youngest son.
Based on the looks on everyone else's face, they feel the same. He can see that Dick is itching to go over to Damian and pepper his face with kisses to make his frown go away but this isn't Dick's apology.
Surprisingly, it's Tim who gets off the couch and kneels in front of Damian, who's perched on Bruce's knee. Damian had always antagonized Tim because, as the brother closest to his age, he was his most viable playmate for roughhousing. Often, the two went too far and Bruce knew that, while Tim loved Damian, he didn't always like him. Tim looked Damian right in the eye and said, "I am sorry. If anyone ever calls you something like that again, including me, you have every right to hit them with your katana." Maybe that wasn't the best message to tell a ten-year-old raised by assassins but it was what Damian needed to hear.
Jason, who loves to use insults as endearments and had therefore been one of the greatest offenders, slid of the couch and said, "I'm sorry for ever sayin' that shit" Damian gasped in delight, at the bad word more than the apology, "and if anyone talks shit again to you, tell 'em Red Hood'll get 'em." Bruce could see the remorse written clearly in the faces of Tim, Jason, and Steph as they hugged Damian and Bruce was proud. Maybe he hadn't failed as badly as he thought.
After talking for a bit longer, Bruce carried a sleeping Damian out of the cave and decided he would join his son and take a short hibernation in his nest in his room (seriously, he had a nest, how had his kids not suspected anything) Tomorrow, Bruce would be calling Cassandra to make sure she knew that she was a vampire and talking to Duke to make sure he knew that only vampires started to turn to ash in sunlight. Tomorrow, Bruce would be making a one hundred-twelve slide power point on the finer parts of vampire culture to show his children and ensure they were well educated. Tonight, Bruce was going to cuddle his son and calm himself down in his comfy nest
(Tonight, the bats and birds would fly and take care of the threat to their family and, tomorrow, if there were a few more bags of blood for Bruce, who could say?)

part two to this <3333
it had only been five minutes and you haven’t been able to come up for air. everyone son and daughter of thee bruce wayne was asking you a new question before you could even answer the first one.
it was like you were some a list celebrity that just stumbled into the kitchen.
jason was growing tense by this commotion, knee bouncing at high speeds and a hand tapping against your thigh in attempt to prove both of you were still very present in the moment.
no one’s food was being touched besides those at the head of the table, bruce and alfred, though alfred tried to chime into the conversation whereas bruce just stared and chewed with an uneasy look.
dick was drilling on training techniques, asking if he could accompany you to gym as you seem to be the meta that has the best hand to hand combat skills, something he is always looking to improve on.
tim and damian have been arguing over your accent, if the gotham twang or star city lull in your voice, on top of business stocks and your role in the queen consolidated.
class stayed slightly but would whisper to steph occasionally about how pretty you looked without your hair pulled back and your suit on, that one at least made you feel human amongst the sea of vultures.
babs kept quiet, mentioning small tokens of encouragement to you as she sat to your right. she has been your best friend for years, having her here has given you some sort of comfort.
jason helplessly looked at this father, almost begging him to say something nice to you. the conversation before waking into the dining hall shook him up, could it be possible bruce did despise you? that he thought of you no more than a work colleague?
bruce noticed his sons look, nodding briefly as he brought the napkin from his lap to his lip and focused his full attention on you.
he noticed how you slumped in the chair out of stress and kept your head titled downward to show self consciousness.
you don’t normally do that.
he could recognize your stress from a mile away. in the watch tower, the two of you may not speak but he noticed small things about the person that won his son’s heart.
like how you speak with your hands, posture is normally straight, chin upward to the sky to signal confidence. all signs you lacked at the dinner table.
you never chewed in your upper lip or picked at the cuticles around your nails, two things your doing now.
bruce let out a dignified cough, silencing the crowd of the children and somehow bringing forward your more dignified posture.
you wanted to impress him. the gesture was noted, though you had already done that.
he spoke your name allowed, you were sure to have a heart attack after not being called by the code name you went by. “how’s the meal?”
you say flabbergasted by the question. he silenced the table for the meal your barely gotten to take any bites from.
alfred suppressed a chuckle in the corner, a smile emerging from jays lips. this was bruce’s tactic of making it known he enjoyed your company, he did this will all the kids at their first family dinner.
“it’s wonderful.” a genuine smile erupted from your lips as you realized what had been made, context clues failed you up until this point.
“jason mentioned your mother made this dish growing up,” he thought as he watched your eyes flick between himself and jason “you haven’t been home in a few, thought we would bring home to you.”
and dinner went on without a hitch. bruce chimed in here and there, and your posture corrected itself and everyone seemed to mellow out with the questions by the end of the night.
maybe bruce didn’t hate you after all?
i mean how could he hate the person who loves his son even more than he does?

Project R AU where Danny is a clone created from the DNA of all the Robins past and present by the drs Fenton when they were teenagers.
Upon realizing the child they had made was going to be used as a weapon for evil they quickly and quietly packed up thier family and belongings and jumped ship to a new dimention with the kid after putting him in stasis so he was essentially frozen in time.
Later on little Jazz finds the baby in the tank and assumes the stork had made a delivery and flips the switch to release him from stasis so he can finish growing. A week later the pod beeps and she brings him out of the storage room as a chubby healthy baby and her parents loose thier minds for a bit.
Danny grows up normally...well not really but you get what I mean. Maddie makes sure Danny knows how to fight and wouldn't take no for an answer. No matter how much Danny complained that he wanted to play video games, go to the park with his friends or that Jazz didn't have to fight, she would never relent. Maddie knows she's nowhere near the level of a fully trained assasin but she wanted to give Danny every leg up she could.
She knew he would need it. Call it a mothers intuition.
Well, crap happens. Vlad outs Danny as Phantom and it ends very poorly for the wannabe vampire. Danny escapes into the GZ but just barely and is forced to leave his old life behind but not before Jazz tells him about what she had recently learned about Project: R.
The portals are destroyed and Danny flees to his home dimension in search of his fathers. Unfortunately when he gets there he learns most of his fathers are dead, only Damian Al Ghul and Jason Todd remaining, both having very strained relationships with thier own father Bruce Wayne and everything has gone to crap.
Theres an evil dictator in red and blue ruling the world and they're the reason two of his dads are dead. So he decides to rip the symbol off his chest, put on a mask and make his big debut as Phantom.
How you may ask?
By killing the evil Superman and his cronies on live television and announcing that he's the child of Project: R and what that means.
Damian finds Phantom in Bludhaven looking for him and asking him to take him in only to get refused. Damian fears that Bruce might try to turn Danny against him so is hesitant to get close emotionally.
Jason has no such concerns and scoops him up before Bruce can dress him like a traffic light. They then have the superhero talk and Phantom says he wants to be a anti-hero not a superhero. He already tried that one and it sucked so much. Jason definitely didn't like the fact his kid had been a superhero at any point but finding out pretty much all the adults in Dannys life had failed him so hard made Jay fly into a rage.
Bruce tries to go for custody but fails. Dannys doesn't like how the Titans treat Damian so he steals all the ABBA cds from the tower and makes off like a thief in the night. When they discover this they flip out because those were Dicks and they became practically sacred after he died.
Danny decided to cause problems on purpose. Such acts include:
1. Turning all the furniture in the common rooms of the Titans Tower into hyper realistic cake so when they sat on it/tried to turn on the TV, ect they'd be in for a suprise.
2. Stealing all the tires off of every vehicle Bruce owned and giving them to Jason/whoever was down on thier luck and couldn't afford to change thier tires. Danny says he has "a legacy to uphold" while balancing on the top of on of the tires as he runs it across Gotham
3. Torments Black Mask and Slade. Somehow all thier homes and safe houses are filled with beans. Yes, beans. Whenever they are in Gotham they get beaned in the face with a pickle. (This is worse for BM cause ya'know)
They have no idea whos doing this or why.
Ras Al Ghul is not amused by the pickleing but does not get beanified cause Danny doesn't know where most of his places are so he gets A LOT of pickles thrown at him every chance Danny gets.
4. Danny decides Damian requires lots of snuggles and just turns intangible whenever Damian tries to pry him off. Multiple people keep comparing him to Dick and its starting to get on Dannys nerves. He has three other dads to compare him to and Dick isn't even the only dead one! What about Tim??? He wants to learn about Tim! He demands his fathers tell him about themselves and Tim

“Who’s Eddie?”
Darren doesn’t sound jealous or anything. It’d be a little hypocritical of him, considering he’s got a boyfriend and all. But Darren’s stayed the night a few times, more than anyone else Steve’s been sleeping with lately, and Steve thinks they’re getting to be pretty good friends at this point, and Steve’s been trying this thing lately where he’s more honest with his friends.
“Why do you ask?” Steve’s stalling, and he knows he’s stalling.
“You say Eddie sometimes in your sleep. Just wondering. He an ex or something?”
“No. Not an ex. Just a guy I—just a guy I liked, when I was a teenager.” It’s not completely true, he doesn’t think. But it’s close enough.
“Never got up the courage for a sweet little farmboy fumble?” Darren’s a city boy, and he likes to tease Steve about his supposedly agrarian roots even though Steve keeps telling him he’s never even been on a farm. (Aside from harvest festivals, and apple picking, and 4-H fairs, and his grandpa’s—okay, Darren has a little bit of a point. Not much.)
“He’s dead. He died,” Steve says. They’re just words. They can’t hurt anymore.
“Shit, I’m sorry,” says Darren, because Darren is not actually an asshole. He’s looking carefully at whatever Steve’s face is doing. Steve doesn’t know. Tentatively, he asks, “Was it because…?”
“No,” says Steve. Then he backtracks. “Maybe. Partly.”
Hunt the freak, right?
It wasn’t Jason Carver’s teeth in Eddie’s guts, but if things had broken a little differently, if they hadn’t had to worry about the human monsters in Hawkins…Steve thinks a lot about how it might have gone. Sometimes he hates Eddie for not being just a little bit more normal, and then he hates himself for thinking like that.
Steve has never said yes to a guy named Jason. It’s so fucking stupid and pointless. Maybe he’s missed out on the love of his life by turning down Jason Jones or whoever, and it's not even like Jason was the only one responsible. But he just can’t. He can’t.
He thinks it’s probably not even about Eddie himself, like as a real person. Eddie was just some guy, some kid, who was funny and handsome and sweet and wild, who loved the things he loved as if nobody had ever told him not to.
A lot of people had told him not to.
Eddie died because of ravening nightmare beasts and one superpowered evil dude with a god complex.
Eddie died because he liked playing a game about stories and magic.
Eddie died because some people, the people who raised Steve, the people who Steve used to love and look up to—those people couldn’t understand him, and thought that gave them the right to take away his life.
Growing up, Steve had always thought of himself as a lifelong Hawkinsite, the kind of guy who sticks around and puts down roots. But when Robin had asked him to go with her to New York, near the tail end of '86, it had been so easy to say yes. Leaving Hawkins behind had felt like escaping the jaws of a trap, even if it meant leaving a limb behind. They’ve been to Paris and London and LA, staying in filthy student hostels and drinking cheap wine, living the kind of life that had once seemed as make-believe and impossible to Steve as the kids’ wizard games.
Steve dates men, now. He thinks that would have seemed even more impossible than Paris to his sixteen-year-old self.
He still dates women sometimes. He’s had a couple girlfriends. Mostly, though, he’s not looking for anything too slow or serious, and that’s easier to get with men once you know where to look. He’s got Robin, he’s got the kids to see on Thanksgivings and Christmases, what else does he need?
They’d moved out of New York around '91. Rent got to be too much, and Dustin had just bought a place in Oak Park with his then-girlfriend because the kid U-Hauls faster than a lesbian.
So now, they share an apartment on the north side of Chicago, close to the lake. It’s pretty nice. Steve’s pushing 30, bartending six nights a week, and Robin answers phones at a fancy dentist’s office in the Loop. It’s been a lifetime since they’ve run from anything with too many teeth under the wrong sky.
“Tell me about Eddie,” Darren says into the silence that's been stretching out too long.
Steve closes his eyes.
“He was brave,” says Steve. “Every single day of his life, he was brave.”
(Now with follow-up!)
