#fic: Clark Kent of Krypton

Clark Kent of Krypton, my 98k fic with four chapters, feels pretty unwieldy to read because of the formatting.

What someone else said reminded me of the idea i had a while back, that Clark's bio parents sent him to earth because it was basicly like a giant playground. With the sun, he could do whatever he wanted with the local population and planet. That kryptonians used to be planet killers but they got shoved on to a planet that would keep them in check, and given a cultural need to stay THERE. It worked so well it basically wiped them out because they refused to leave.

Oof. Oof. Planet killer is such a hefty title. For some reason I’m imagining Clark coming to Bruce to help him decode some files from the Fortress he couldn’t quite decipher and Bruce has to take a breath and then calmly tell his best friend that he wasn’t sent here as a refugee, but as a contingency.

Can you imagine Clark’s reaction to that news? That the hope, everything he thought he ever stood for, was based on a lie?

Idk man, Clark X Jimmy in maws is kinda growing on me.

Thinking of writing a scene after ep 9 where Clark is still not feeling too well after having been sleep deprived, beat up, tortured, finding out his people are conquerers and fighting a giant kaiju (man is going through it😭) and can't sleep, like, at all. So Jimmy decides to cook up some food and pick out a couple of Clark's favourite movies and they have an all nighter watching stuff like The Little Prince, Studio Ghibli animated movies like Ponio and My Neighbour Totoro etc under a weighted blanket until Clark falls asleep on the couch knowing that he is safe and happy and loved.

Writing prompt 63:

Ectoplasm is all that remains of Krypton, the substance creating the first known portal to the void like dimension. The explosion of it blowing a hole through reality as we know it.

The living ghosts of the planet introduced to the infinite realms. The crumbling remains of their home fueling the dimension and becoming the toxic green goo that goes on to create blob ghosts and halfas in the human world.

It is no coincidence Danny has similar powers to Clark Kent.

And now it's made me think of a fic prompt for either jondami or superbat

For the title I'm thinking 'Strawberry Blues'  or the title of the song that had me think of this

So anyways the plot could be that the Kent's are selling strawberries at the farmers market and now I forgot the rest -_-

Alpha!Kal, Omega!Zod, Feral Zod

(but if you know me you know that Omega Zod doesn't mean submissive, simpering Zod)

It was tradition for an alpha, on the cusp of their first rut, to be given an omega to mate with, to keep as their own.

Kal thought he had made it clear to his father that he had no interest in this tradition. He didn't want an omega. He liked them well enough, but all of the ones he was allowed to associate with, as the heir to the throne, were... Shallow, delicate things. And while he knew the military guild was mostly omegas, he didn't think he'd be given one of them. They were strong-willed, and independent. Not an ideal future consort.

Kal had thought his father understood he'd rather settle with a beta, or another alpha, but he could smell the omega as he stood in front of the door to his room. The omega was in heat, and distressed. Kal couldn't blame them, he was distressed, too.

He had spent the day feeling strangely on edge, and uncomfortably hot, and he just knew he was about to enter his first rut. It was a bit late, he was almost 20, and most alphas had their first right around the time they turned 18. He didn't want a rut, because he didn't want an omega, but his body had other plans, clearly.

Kal could faintly hear the omega snarling and growling through the thick door, and didn't know quite what to make of that. None of the omegas he knew would ever growl, much less snarl.

He opened the door, apprehensive and uncertain. And was only mildly surprised when a body slammed into him, sending him sprawling to the ground. What had surprised him, however, was the glimpse he had gotten of the omega's face before their face was buried in Kal's neck, vicious snarls giving way to content purrs.

After a moment, the omega moved down his body, dragging Kal into the room by his legs.

"Uh... General?" He questioned, keeping his voice soft, worried about setting off the older, clearly feral, Omega again.

"I take it you like your gift?"

Kal looked up, confusion clear on his face, into the smug face of his father, Emperor Jor-El.

"Wha-" Kal tried to ask his father what was going on, but he was cut off by a vicious snarl.

"Mine!" Zod hissed, throwing himself back on top of Kal, and snarling at the older El.

"Do enjoy yourself, Kal, and take care of General Zod, he's been on suppressants and denying himself this since before you were born," Jor waved as he shut the door, trapping Kal in his room with the feral General.

Stranger in a Strange Land by Mithen (27k) (Literally how does Mithen have time for all this) Kal-El of Krypton arrives on Earth as an adult. To the Justice League's surprise, Batman volunteers to introduce him to human ways. There's an immediate bond between the two men, but cultural differences and miscommunication complicate their relationship.

Only Human by saltedpin (23k) Clark temporarily loses his powers, and while it's initially jarring, he gradually adjusts and tries to go about on a somewhat normal routine after telling his inner circle (which can also include the League since they're building themselves up). Problem is that he is somehow an even bigger danger magnet than Lois in this state.

Loading and Aspect Ratio byJUBE154 (45k) It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat. So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare. So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham: “The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.” (A world where nobody has wings, but people think they do, and that changes everything.)

the cost of being a good dad by Mawiiish (96k)*** Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian are all tired of watching Bruce struggle with the stress of trying to handle the newly formed Justice League. He needs an outlet, he needs to relax, he needs to get out of the house, he needs... he needs to start dating. And what he doesn't know won't hurt him, right?

I've been giving Clark Kent, of Krypton a full reread for the first time since I published it (mostly reread some sections before, not the whole and not in order)

And I'm happy bc I'm not finding too many things I'd want to edit but also it's. So. Fucking. Long. What the fuck x)

So a fic idea I'm currently working on is that Krypton was a really cold, crystalline planet and Kyrptonians were really weird, cold-dwelling, long-lived beings. Clark's parents foresaw the disaster that was to befall Krypton, and due to exploration and research/meeting Thomas Wayne way back in the day, Jor-El knew the time would come to send his son somewhere. So instead of sending Clark as is, he engineers his son to have earthly traits -> the need to eat, the features, the good looks (and he models his looks partly off of Thomas, who has dark hair and blue eyes). Furthermore, Jor-El worries that his son, an outsider wouldn't be safe, so as a final touch, he also utilizes the fact that there's lower gravity and a yellow sun to engineer his kid to have superpowers there. Jor-El records holograms as more of a humanoid figure to relate to his young, abandoned son, but he engineers Clark for success on Earth. Him and Lara hide Clark from the rest of Krypton, their miracle baby as much as Clark was for the Kents. I envision these truths coming to the fore as Bruce and Clark decide to retrace Clark's ancestry and Bruce realizes just how much earthly DNA/traits Clark has (a surprisingly large amount).

Anyways, I'm posting this here because I'm writing it, kind of struggling with the feared Writer's Block and curious to know what you guys think.

misc worldbuilding scraps that are currently rotating on the back burner:

(omegaverse) human instinct relies on scent > hearing > taste > sight to find compatible partners, kryptonian instincts lean on sight > hearing > scent > taste, hence the mating markings

omegaverse humans have a much higher degree of face blindness than we normal humans do lmao

helps clark pass, the more he pulls his scent back the more it fades away, clark kent smells so dull/insignificant/mild that it seems like he's got a medical condition (hypomyrodia). jonathan kent had this. when jonathan and martha found bby kal, he was scared and tried to match scents to the two humans who found him, which caused his kryptonian scent to quickly fade. a hypomyrodic pup would probably face high abandonment rates and low adoption rates, so it was probably a relief that two willing parents brought the pup in

kryptonians all pretty much exist along a relatively smooth spectrum of sexual characteristics and can transition somewhat like clownfish if there's a hormonal imbalance in their community. having zero (0) other kryptonians around does things to clark before he grows the fortress and is able to synthesize hormone stabilizers

humans meanwhile have ten major sexes because betas can be true beta, alpha-leaning, or omega-leaning depending on their recessive genes

poison ivy is x100 more horrifying in any omegaverse world. she only manages to zop clark though bc the pollen is enchanted. however it's enchanted to induce primal alpha hindbrain, which means something very different to lone kryptonians than packbonded humans

it would have been the norm on krypton to have one's facial markings out. kryptonians would pull them back if they were sick, or perhaps terrified... primal hindbrain clark looking around and seeing nothing but non-glowing faces, and it coming across as everyone around him fucking terrified of him

for the first few months of their acquaintance clark is like. im not sure what gender batman is and at this point i'm not sure its ok to ask (he can smell past the concealing patches to bruce's strong omega scent but the patches could also be doubling as, like, the equivalent of binders, could be that batman's gender is null, but he mixes in diluted alpha cologne, but that could just be for concealment/intimidation....???)

sun-powered kryptonians have a strong, distinctively alien but somewhat alpha-smelling scent (when they're not pulling it back) but barely leave any on people they try to scent with, and scents barely stick to them. when clark politely explains this to bb dickie hes just like well i guess ill just have to scent you for longer! and clark goes 🥺

at this early point in the timeline barry is the only known omega superhero so the tabloids are huge into superflash

anyway all that's just kind of fluff/details... the core theme i've been rotating around is overcoming real and genuine barriers to intimacy. the loneliness of knowing you're a square peg in a world of round holes, the necessary compromises of sanding away your corners, the joy of meeting someone who will stretch to meet you where you are. there's a fair few excellent fics of bruce uncomfortable in an omega's role and body, i want to come at it from a perspective where a xenomegaverse clark has to define what gender means to him, in the heightened roles of the omegaverse. we are looking also at layers of passing. when parts of your closet become your armor that protects but encumbers you, and other parts become your exoskeleton, which grow into who you are. we are looking at that comic about the orchid that has the pattern on it meant to appeal to an extinct species of bee. we are looking at compromise made of love and compromise made of fear. and we are looking at tentacles baby.................
