One of my favorite tropes is that the entire superhero community can’t believe batman is just a human.

“I thought you were a meta?”

“No.”

“Well how did you do that?”

“(Long explanation of a tech he invented.)”

“Oh so you have super intelligence.”

“No…. I’m just smart.”

Then they meet Robin and assume he’s super powered.

“Bit of a hypocrite to have a super kid when you won’t even let us in the city.”

“Robin isn’t a meta.”

“WhAT?? He’s just a CHILD??”

They think this with every new Gotham vigilante. Some still refuse to believe Nightwing isn’t a meta.

“Humans can’t bend that much okay?”

“He’s… well trained.”

“Batman you can’t expect us to believe that.”

Clark is aware that spying on others is more Batman's thing.

However... it's his little niece and nephew, okay? Just because they live in Illinois now (and aren't his blood relatives) doesn't mean anything. The Walker family's always been close with the Kents, even if only Grandma Walker still even lives in Smallville. So, just like he always keeps an ear out for Ma and Pa, he keeps an ear out for Alicia, Maddie, her husband Jack, and his cute niece and nephew's heartbeats.

It's easy enough and a pretty good indicator of their well-being, even beyond the obvious.

Clark really can't be held accountable for the chair that punched through the wall of the Watchtower's meeting room when he shot up out of it. He figures that he's being quite restrained, actually, since his nephew's heart literally just stopped beating.

In the time that it takes to pacify the rest of the assembled League members, though, Danny's heart starts beating again.

But it's different. Slower. Dangerously so.

He needs to get to Amity Park right now.

you know, a big reason i kinda drifted away from the phandom last year was because of how prevalent dp x dc content had become. at the time, i was more of a marvel girlie and i didn’t know much about the batfam or dc content in general. but this year during my (somewhat unintentional) hiatus i coincidentally got really into superman media, which then spiraled into an interest in the batfam and dc as whole and oh god I GET IT NOW

Clark: No worries, the soup’s in this fancy lunch box that you got me for Christmas so I’m sure it’s still warm. Oh by the way Alfred, Bruce and I will be watching ‘Contagion’ in the cinema room tonight.

Bruce: It’s not a lunch box, it’s a voice activated kryptonite storage box with an emergency locator beacon. And no, I’m not staying at home to watch-

Alfred: Sounds wonderful, Mr Kent. Master Bruce, let me put away this Batsuit and prepare the room for the both of you right away. And switch off that distress signal.

Halfa Batman. 19.2.23

DP x DC. Batman, Superman, Batfam, Danny Phantom. Batman & Superman, Batman & Danny.

Batman dies. (This is not the surprising part, given his job.) He comes back. (His family’s track record also makes this less impressive than normal.) He doesn’t do either one all the way.

Some kind of fight with the League of Assassins takes place, Batman gets tossed into the Lazarus pit along with a pack of dynamite or something, and the resulting faulty natural portal to the Ghost Zone + explosion manages to do just the right amounts of kill and revive him to yeet him to half-ghost status.

He does not tell anyone, of course. Healthy communication who?

He manages to keep it from his family as he figured out invisibility, intangibility, and his transformation.

All the criminal element of Gotham knows is that Batman is somehow even more spooky now.

The first person he does tell is Superman. He panics, looses control of his powers, and calls Clark for help because he’s floating several feet in the air and can’t get down.

Eventually he meets Danny, and that’s how he finds out about the anti-ecto laws and gets the horrifying revelation that not only is it legal for the government to kidnap and dissect experiment on him now, Clark is technically breaking the law every minute he’s not turning him in.

(Danny’s logical ‘that’s Batman’ side of his brain is being drowned out by his concern for the new baby halfa.)

The ritual is complete, blood staining stone and fires cut short, snuffed to ash. For all intents and purposes, it shouldn’t have gone wrong. It should technically be over and done and successful. The cultists look from their bleeding hands to each other in panic and slight hysteria, clothing torn apart. 

They would not speak of this, and fix it right away! R-right away… fix it? They can… oh they can’t fix it um. No one will notice, right?

The Night Security

Danny decides to tag along with Dani and travel around the world. With him now being in his late twenties he decided he could use a break from all the craziness back home, and he's been wanting to spend more time with Dani.

Dani despite it being years still looks the same, they had gone to Frostbite to make sure nothing was seriously wrong, Dani was completely healthy but it seems Vlad's messy attempts at cloning alongside her also being a halfa had made it so Dani would age a lot slower than a normal human would.

Danny until that point hadn't realized that he also looked very young for a man who was almost 30, but he could just get away with it by just saying he had a baby face.

To gain money for their travels Danny decided to start doing random jobs normally he would end up with being night security since those positions weren't very popular and always had a position open or where willing to have an extra pair of eyes on the job.

With that being said Dani and his sleep schedule were completely flipped over now being practically nocturnal. They would go out shopping or have fun while the moon was still high in the sky.

Now with that being said, he had no clue why there always was at least that one person at whatever job he would have that seemed to believe he was a vampire,

Yes a vampire, and he could brush it off if it had only happened once or twice but no! This has happened in the majority of his jobs.

And look he gets it, he only gets night jobs, he hangs out with Dani outside only when the sun is nowhere in sight, and yes both he and Dani were sensitive to the sun but that was normal for people with pale skin they would burn easily and considering that pale blue eyes tend to struggle seeing with too much sun clarity especially since they're not used to being around the sun as much as before.

See he gets all those can kinda be vampire things but they where also just very normal and common human things as well.

So yes he was out here fighting vampire allegations instead of ghost ones like when he was young.

Clark turned around slightly spooked he hadn't heard the young man a moment ago, which should be impossible with his super hearing. Focusing on the man In front of him he realized that the heartbeat he was now hearing was... too slow, unhealthily so. If he had just been hearing the heartbeat he would have been sure it was from someone dying, but the man In front of him showed no struggle or weakness in spite of that.

"Sir?"

Clark snapped back into the present. "Oh! Right sorry about that, it's been a very long day usually I'm out of here long before the sun sets."

"No worries man I totally get that, I just saw that you dropped your glasses case near me and wanted to quickly return it."

"Well thank you Mr.?"

"Fenton, Danny Fenton I work the night shift here."

Weird DP x DC Dream I had

Just had a dream that Danny and Ellie let Batman set them up with a home base in exchange for them following his rules when they do vigilante stuffs in Gotham.

It was their first night on patrol and Danny was meeting with Superman? And Superman was interrogating him? Concerned for him? Idk. But he was feeling weaker around Danny so he was worried about that but never directly asked if he had Kryptonite or anything on him. (Wtf)

The Weirdest part was the end when Danny got back to their appartment (that the Bat set up for them). He comes in and starts ranting to Ellie, who is still in her vigilante garb (which, idk where my brain got the idea for it but it looked cool as hell! I may draw it later if I can remember it enough), about how weird Superman was being and how tired he is and he doesn't even realize Batman in in the room. When he does and the Bat makes himself known, he wants a debrief. After that he pulled out a Giant fukin Watermelon and proceeds to pull Damian fukin Wayne out of it. He's unconscious and Batman is holding him up like a fuckin fish he just cought, by his ankles! And with no other context he smiles and asks Danny, "Do you think you're ready for this?" While looking between the two. And they were on the roof now? And Jason was there in his civvies and a domino??

....And then I woke up

And I will never know what the fuck that was about 😔

It felt like I accidentally skipped a chapter in a fic and then refreshed the page and the fic was gone forever 😭

Cast This Bunny Into the Void

A lot of the DP x DC fics I’ve been wildly fixating my way through looking at tend to follow the same thoughts of “Amnit Blackout is why no one outside knew what was going on” or “the JL knew they just didn’t know how bad it was!”

I submit the following -

Danny Phantom x My Adventures with Superman crossover.

There is no information blackout. There is a mass disbelief about ghosts being real. Clearly all the articles about ghost attacks and that Phantom thing are either fiction or bad tabloid covers. The local Bigfoot story that got out of hand, in other words.

Louis takes one look at Clark snoozing on an article of the mysterious flying boy in Kansas dated 10 years ago. Then a second look at the article dated two days ago about Phantom fighting the ghost hunters of Amnity Park.

Louis: “Get the van, guys! We’re going to get Superman a glowing green sidekick!”

Fanfiction commentary and recommendations: Lex Luthor´s ascend from supervillainy to fatherhood Part II (chapters 6 to 10)

What follows is the commentary for the next few chapters. For the simple reason that i have not yet named it as part of why this fanfiction is so good: It has a pretty decent (read: for a normal person a quite long) chapter lenghth - perfect for just cuddling up somewhere with a mug of tea or any other hot beverage of choice and keep on reading. As the full lenghth of this fic has as of this day reached around 500k words and there are still 59 to go you, there is still quite a bit to discuss!

I do hope I don´t just regurgitate the story itself, but we´ll see how it goes.

I want to try to include some things that may count as spoilers. I´ll put the spoilers in using this:

So if you see this - there may or may not be a spoiler here but at least you can ignore the text if it important to you?

Okay so there´s been a time jump between the fifth and sixth chapters. And what do we see? Danny as well as Lex struggling with a few important revelations.

The first one being Danny even realizing that: yes, he actually IS smart. Who would ever question that with the number of languagges Danny even speaks? And with all the knowledge he has about astrophysics? Or even how he is able to tinker with his parent´s weapons and actually understanding them? But no.

Our boy has been told he was the dumb one in the family for long enough, that is was an actual surprise for him to realize how well he has placed in his placement tests. And it does break my heart a little to know what must have gone down to behave like that …

But that´s only just really scratching the surface, isn´t it? Because what follows is Lex being a worried parent and realizing that his son has been left reeling with a realization.

Because Danny, now that school is about to start again, knows that he can´t just leave soon anymore. He has built somewhat of a life in this dimension. He as people he cares about. He´s about to continue his schooling here. And our boy? Has not wanted to think about the repercussions.

So here he sits. In his room. Devastated after months in this dimension because … he´s happy here. He´s happy and he doesn´t want to be happy. Doesn´t want to be safe because this? This isn´t home. And how my heart hurts when I read this.

A child should feel save at home. They shouldn´t be forced to literally fight for this sense of safety. But he was. And now all of this tension is just gone and it feels good and in a way he feels as if he´s betraying his family and friends. Which I completely understand. But - he should get to feel save too.

What I do find a funny kind of satisfaction in is just how Lex continues to bash Danny´s parents. Because as bad as it sounds: it´s all the truth. And that it is probably just makes it a much harder pill to swallow. Poor boy, but he´ll understand. Someday. Probably?

All in all: this chapter is just such a wholehearted conversation that I´m a bit sad to see it go. But it just gets better from there because it continues with a mind controlled superman and Danny deciding he´s got to do something about it. Which he does. By absolutely beating the living daylights out of him. Lex gets a very satisfying video out of it and by god, is the fight scene nicely written. Another wonderful little thing to point out is how lex explains to Danny how 'Superman´s been mind controlled again' and then just does not stop bashing him xD Wonderful scene tbh, i need more of snarky Lex!

After the fight? The Justice League gets CURIOUS. And a curious justice league? I don´t know if that would do Danny all too much good, not that they care at this point. He could be a danger after all.

And to be honest? I fear for the day they may try and interrogate Danny as Phantom. Though I have not yet decided if I fear more for Danny or the League. He´s slightly (very) unhinged after all.

Also: Danny lands on the news! And on Twitter! And oh my god, does Twitter have THINGS to say about the whole thing.

And boy oh boy - Twitter loves Danny! From his looks to his smarts and his relationship with Lex or his sassiness: everything gets discussed and it´s just so funny to see this happening from an outside point of view xD

What also follows is the funniest Twitter discourse i have seen in a while. It does include Danny non-stop snarking at Lex so it is an absolute win for me xD

Also: people find out about his and Cass´relationship and they are very enthusiastic about it. Or at least, that´s one way to put it xD

Even though it´s only friendship. For now. I swear to god they´re not gonna stay friends for long before they´re in a committed relationship with each other.

Which Bruce apparently also knows. He´s already plotting the shovel talk. Is it bad that i want to see that discussion go down?

Alfred just being the absolute sweetheart that he is being like 'Cassandra can can take care of herself silly son'. It´s just so wholesome?

And with that Arc I ENDS. And it was such a sweet arc :3 Full of heart for sure and the fun also did not get the short end of stick - superman got it instead xD

It´s not the end however as we get to the first interlude, which shows us how Jazz is dealing with the whole situation. 'Not good' may be an understatement to be honest.

She has to accomodate so many things: what her parents did to Danny, what they did (and also did not) do while they were 'raising' them, how to deal with the negelct and sometimes borderline abuse, how to deal with college and how to search for her brother without losing either herself or her connection to her friends and family…

What probably does not help is that his disappearance has created a rift between Tucker and Sam that seems to get worse as time goes on.

And Jazz? She seems lost. A classic case of older sibling syndrome, not furthered by her study into psychology. She´s spreading herself thin trying to help. Has been doing so for years at this point and to be honest? It feels as if she´s about to snap.

What she does feel for sure is lost. And i can relate. I really, really do. I mean i may not have been in such a dire situation yet (knock on wood), but … i can kind of feel her despair and sadness over these circumstances: She wanted to do more. To help more, but also to finally be free of this burden. She feels as if it´s her fault Danny died. That it´s her fault she couldn´t bring him back. And doesn´t that just mirror Danny´s whole 'I must save the town because i turned on the portal' sacrificial mindset?

The surely are much more similar to each other than they probably think. And if they are gonna see each other again? There are many tears and conversations to be had…
