DCxDP Fanfic Idea: Burst your Bubble
Danny makes a small mistake that spirals out of control three years later. It starts on a fateful day while working in Clockwork's Tower, covering for the Time Lord. He had pushed for the man to take a break after hearing he hadn't been on vacation since the death of dinosaurs.
It was also recommended by Frostbite. Apparently, the stress of his job was causing Clockwork to lose grip on his age shift. Much like a human grinding their teeth in sleep due to stress, Clockwork's core was rapidly shifting him through his ages, causing aches along his core. When Danny met him, the way he went from child to middle-aged man and finally old adult was just physical proof of Clockwork's stress.
His shifting got under control after they defeated Dan, but that didn't mean his muscles had a chance to relax. He was a little better off the second time Danny saw Clockwork, but when Danny asked if he could return to his parent's college days, Clockwork's form quickly started shifting again.
Danny felt horrible about it, but he was fine taking over for the ghost to relax on vacation. It wasn't even that hard. All he had to do was watch the various timelines and record large catastrophes and bursts of hope. He also had to watch hourglasses that indicated the natural flow of time in multiple worlds. Sometimes, the sand would get stuck, so he would need to stir it with a large spoon, careful to not let anything else touch the golden shine of the time sands.
It helped that the Tower was semi-sentient. It overheard him making up lies about what he was doing on a call with his parents. Danny had told his parents that this summer, he was going away to work as a summer camp counselor, while Clockwork had selected a timeline that was moving at a different speed.
One month in Danny's home dimension was a hundred years in the one Clockwork was relaxing in. When Danny's school started again, his friend would have a lovely four hundred years to enjoy. Of course, this was a tiny break for a being like Clockwork, but Danny promised to take over every summer until he graduated.
The Tower had created a room that looked a lot like a log cabin whenever his parents attempted to video call. It even created a paycheck with actual funds directly deposited into his teen account that his parents had access to.
Their doubts about Danny lying vanished when "Camp Kronos" placed a rather generous amount of money under his name. His dad was even proud of Danny going out of his way to earn his own money. It's been a long time since his Dad sounded like that when talking about his accomplishments.
Clockwork had told him the Tower spoke to him mentally because it was his Haunt, but since Danny was only Haunt sitting, he was directed to a chalkboard that the Tower could use to write messages to him. That's how he knew it was the Tower's doing that his cover was safe back home.
Danny thanked the Tower by cleaning it from top to bottom. When he asked it what its name and pronouns were, the Tower requested to be called "it" and to stop using a capital T when referring to it.
Danny tries, but he still mentally changes tower into Tower since that is its name in his head. The tiles shake in irritation whenever he accidentally says it out loud.
Besides that, the Tower didn't really interact with him. Danny made his own food, did his own laundry, and did his work. There was never a clock in and clock out; the only time he wasn't attending the timelines was when he took short breaks to sleep, eat, bathe, and clean.
But the only time he wasn't watching the time was when he was asleep, and that was because of Tower. It somehow found a way to throw the timelines in his face whenever possible.
He did enjoy using the large tub to soak in bubbles, but Tower shifted the bubbles to reflect different scenes of the timelines he was watching, causing them to flout like the tower was blowing bubbles while Danny sat in the water. If it went that far to ensure that Danny was constantly working, he could see why Clockwork had such a hard time with the core shifting.
Then, one day, while soaking, he closed his eyes, ignoring the shifting tiles and the slight rumbling of the walls as Tower grumbled. He told it that he was taking a short break and it could wait until he was done. He would rest his eyes, no matter how important it was for him to watch.
He couldn't have them close for more than a minute, but that was all the mistake needed. At that time, one of the bubbles' timelines shifted because someone in it was being an idiot and messing with time, and it started to glow with new times and forming.
Sand that Danny accidentally touched when the bubble popped right on his nose. Tower was throwing a fit, shaking everything like an earthquake as the sand fell into the soap water.
He blinked open his eyes, startled, and much to his horror, came face to face with the sand, forming a miniature window into that timeline. A human teenager was staring right back at him, jaw dropped with a healthy building flush rising on his cheeks, as the time sand danced around his eyes, though he seemed unable to look away from Danny.
Windows were often granted to specific individuals favored by Clockwork, causing them to become Seers. It was not a common blessing because, more often than not, mortals could not handle future knowledge.
Even ghosts long dead struggle with the power. The only reason Danny was able to cover for Clockwork was because his brain was both dead and alive at the same time. Madness cause time couldn't touch him because, technically, he was already crazy.
Tower shook again, the stone groaning under its disapproval as Danny became uncomfortable, aware that the only thing protecting his dignity was the white foam low on his stomach. With a yelp, he sank further into the water, his hands covering his important bits out of habit, and he waved his hand to close the window.
The teenager moved his mouth in a silent plea, but he vanished in a swirl as quickly as he appeared. It was only a few seconds. Not even ten. Surely nothing could come from that?
A mistake he pushed to the back of his mind.
Surely, not paying attention for just a tiny amount of time could not have caused anything to be too bad.
_____________________________________________________________
"Hey dude? You okay?"
"I just....I just saw an angel...."
"What?"
"An angel. He warned me....showed me....I have to tell Mr.Wayne!"
"Wait! Where are you going!? Tell Mr. Wayne what?!"
"His son is going to die next week!"
"What!?"
"Jason Todd! The angel showed me! I have to warn them!"
_____________________________________________________________
Tower didn't tell on him, and Danny didn't bring it up. Clockwork returned in mid-adult form when the summer ended, looking far more relaxed and no longer shifting forms so rapidly.
He apparently spent four hundred years on a small paradise island, sipping coconut and dancing with locals who thought him a god. He hugged Danny, another large bonus for his paycheck, and sent him on his way.
The following summer, Danny completely forgot about the little accident and never bothered to check on that timeline. Clockwork was unaware there was a major shift in it, so he assumed that the world was moving as it should, though he complained that he had to unclog it a lot more because of a Seer who often opened too many Windows.
It was a testament to how much he needed that vacation for Clockwork to forget he never chose that Seer, despite the young human proving he had the will to handle his visions.
\Danny never realized that Seer was the same teenager he saw back then until one day three years later when Seer was an established fortune teller working as a consultant with some hero society and had used some of the said heroes to try and contact Clockwork.
"Danny." Clockwork started watching the young human set up an altar. "Why is a human attempting to use himself as a virgin sacrifice for me?"
"Ummmm"
"Danny, why does my Haunt claim you gave him the Sight."
"Well....."
"Danny why is Timothy Jackson Drake, who fated to be the third Robin in this time line, now a mere consultant who use his power of Sight for money gain? He's not a hero, did you know that? He merely lives next door to one of that world's greatest heroes and is obsessed with finding his Angel"
"I may have....made a mistake when I was fourteen."
"Danny," Clockwork's faux-friendly tone grew sharper as his form shifted from the three stages of age. "What did you do?"
"I can fix it!"
"How."
"I'll....enter that timeline and set it on the right path? I can answer his summons and convince him to become a hero with the Bats?"
Tower shook as if laughing at him.
"How." The hiss that came from the Time god was almost incomprehensible, with the amount of rage crammed into one syllable
"I'll-I can-Honey pot him!" Danny whimpered, cowering under the withering death glare Clockwork was aiming at him. "I can convince him that being a vigilante is cool and hot, so he'll be Red Robin, and the timeline can be saved?"
Clockwork's eyes darken. "You better not fail me. Send him away, Haunt"
Tower- the traitor- moved instantly. It shifted its stones to drag Danny to Red Robin's cluttered hourglass. It flung him in before he could protest, using Danny to unclog it. He is nearly down in the sinking sand, scrambling for purpose before he falls flat on his bum, and the sand vanishes.
A soft gasp has him looking up. Standing before him is the Seer Tim Drake, who looks beyond happy.
"It's you! My Angel!"

Human Bodyguard Kon and Performer Tim (TimKon)
Tim Drake is known worldwide under his stage name Cardinal.
Something goes wrong and a security guard (Conner) ends up just absolutely man handling Tim.
Maybe a crazed fan jumps on stage (probably with a weapon) and Kon goes to grab Tim, picks him up with one arm, and gets him out of there. Tim’s mic is still on so everyone hears him when he says “holy shit you’re a strong motherfucker” (Tim’s not family friendly, so him swearing isn’t a big deal) and and Kons remark of “that’s why I was hired, sir” picks up through Tim’s mic, even as they go off stage. His mic is then cut off, as the situation gets back under control. After 20 minutes, the crazy guy is dragged out, and the audience has been calmed down. Tim comes back out, Kon following right behind him. Tim’s manager wanted to cancel the show, but Tim said he’d be fine. He goes out on stage, his mic back on. Cracks a few jokes about how “welp that was scary” and giving a shout out to the security crew for their good work and quick thinking. He then introduces Kon.
“This is Conner, or Kon. He’s the security guard who got me to safty during the commotion. He has been appointed body guard for the rest of the show. So if anything happens again-“ Tim rushes behind Conner, to demonstrate his point. He practically disappears behind him, only visible after he pokes his head out from behind him. “I’m safe!” Tim smiles wildly. Kon crosses his arms, glancing down at Tim, who immediately walked back out and in front of Kon.
The show carried on, Tim ended up preforming a few love songs. During one of theses songs, someone from the audience threw something at him, (Tim has told his fans it’s ok if they want to put stuff on the stage for him, but to do it carefully, the fan was aiming for the stage, but almost hit him in the head) and without missing a beat, Kon grabbed him by the waist, and completely picked him up and out the way, only for the object to go wizzing past. The song Tim was singing says something along the lines of “he was big and strong”, (no, stop thinking about Rasputin, I wasn’t listening to that when writing this part, definitely not) and Kon grabbed him as he was singing this line.
Tim doesn’t stop singing, not wanting to stop the show again but does take to take in an extra breath as his legs dangle. Kon hands grip hard around his waist, and out of instinct from being suddenly grabbed, Tim puts his hands over Kon’s. It’s honestly distracting, he also almost forgets the lines to his own song that he himself wrote. Tim is willing his face to not burn red, because damn, this bodyguard is hot.
Kon hovers even closer after that, only ever going about two feet away from Tim. There’s a song were Tim sings about his type, specifically buff guys and gals. Conner so happens to be tall, large, and very muscular, which is the type he describes he likes in the male part of his bisexual song. He almost covers his face out of sheer embarrassment.
By the end of it all, due to how famous Cardinal (also known as Cardi) is, Conner the Bodyguard becomes an overnight sensation. Edits are being made, fanart is being pumped out, there’s a tag starting up on Ao3. The moment of Kon picking Tim up by his waist like he weighed nothing is definitely the main center of attention, thought there are definitely a lot of people screaming about the “one arm carry” from earlier in the night.

Summary:
AU: Jason somehow managed to survive the Joker and retired as Robin and Tim was never needed by Batman. --- When a trip overseas during the holiday season ended up with Tim and his parents getting kidnapped, Tim found himself having the worst day of his life. It ended with Tim's mom dying and it left Tim's father in a coma. Tim was heavily injured and a bit scarred from the encounter... but at least Batman and Batgirl saved him and his dad.
Despite not being a Bat or a hero Tim still found himself in strange situations. Such as when he went to Paris when his dad, Jack was still in a comatose state and met three strange people that ended up with him sneaking alongside them.

Chapter One: something has to change
Janet looked at the photographs in Tim’s room, careful not to disturb anything. As she gently searched through the clutter for an explanation. Sifting through dirty laundry and soda cans was the least of her worries, and to her dismay, she found exactly what she’d been looking for. Proof of Tim’s comings and goings through a few receipts and tickets, some from Blüdhaven and others from Manhattan. All on the dates he was supposed to be on a school trip. “Jack, do you know where Tim is?” Janet shouted.
Jack stopped in the hall and looked at her with his toothbrush hanging out of his mouth. “Huh?” Jack asked. Janet shook her head.
“Nevermind, Jack… I think we should spend some time with Tim,” Janet replied. Jack held up a finger while he went to the bathroom to rinse out his mouth. By the time he returned, Janet had stepped into the hall and shut Tim’s door on her way out.
“What do you mean?” Jack asked.
“Tim. Our son. I want him to be with us,” Janet answered, “I don’t want to miss any more of his life.” Jack scratched his head. Janet sighed.
“What?” Jack asked.
“I’m sorry, but are you having some sort of brain malfunction right now? What? Huh? I want Timothy Jackson Drake with us. I want to see our son grow up. I am tired, Jack. If we are absent any longer, we could lose him,” Janet emphasized as she walked past him to her office.
Jack followed closely behind her and sat down in his chair in the corner of the room, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I know what you said, but I’m trying to get a better understanding of what you want to do. Do you want to take him with us? Do you want to stay home with him? What are you saying? What’s your plan, Janet?” Jack asked. Janet’s face dropped into her hands as she tried to think of an answer. Her fingers arched and combed through her hair. “Listen, I’d love to spend more time with Tim, but we can’t drop our lives, and we can’t expect Tim to drop his—.”
“I think this is why things aren’t working… We’ve become business partners and drifted into a loveless marriage kept alive by our business and the fear of disappointing the child we never see,” Janet sighed, “This is swallowing our family whole.” Janet looked up at him, her eyes pleading with him as he sank into his recliner. And as if something clicked, Jack shot up in his chair and leaned forward.
“What changed? Something changed just now when you were in his room. What aren’t you telling me? You said we’re gonna lose him. What did you mean when you said—?”
Janet held up one finger to keep him quiet. She listened to the sound of Tim’s footsteps as he ran up the stairs and past their office. “I miss him. That’s all,” Janet lied. If she told Jack the truth, she risked him blowing up on Tim and forcing him to shut down. But it was more than that. She couldn’t stop shaking as she said it, but Jack never looked at her anymore. Not really. He wouldn’t have noticed. His mind was always on his work. “Do you think he noticed us?”
“No… Tim’s in his own world. He’s always been that way,” Jack replied.
“Stay here, I want to check in with him really qui—.”
“I can—.”
“No, you get some rest. Okay?” Janet whispered. Jack nodded as he shut his eyes to take a short nap in Janet’s absence.
The hallway felt miles long as Janet walked to Tim’s room. She wasn’t sure how to approach the situation, but she couldn’t stay silent after what she’d seen. She stopped outside his bedroom door and hesitated long enough to hear Tim’s music blaring on the other side. Janet knocked with an uncomfortably heavy hand and the music stopped. She knocked softly a second time to reassure Tim that he heard correctly. “Just a minute! I’m changing!” Tim shouted. She waited patiently without a word, almost softening at the sound of his voice. It’d been so long since she heard Tim’s voice. Her assistant always had her phone, and Janet could only assume that he was deleting Tim’s voicemails.
Tim swung the door open, and Janet embraced him. He tensed with shock, not expecting to see her, but he quickly reciprocated, tightly wrapping his arms around her.
“Mom, what are you doing—?”
“Can we talk for a minute? Also, I wanna apologize ahead of time. I invaded your privacy without meaning to, and I—.” Tim let go and backed away from her. “Tim, I would like to speak to you… Can we talk in your room?” Janet asked.
Tim let her in, and she shut the door. “Am I in trouble?” Tim asked. “You’re scaring me.” He sat on his bed and she sat in a chair across from him.
“No. Of course, you’re not in trouble. I love you… And I—. Tim, I found something that scared me,” Janet whispered. She lifted up a pizza box on Tim’s desk to reveal the pictures she found. “Did you take these?” Tim nodded, expecting Janet to shout at him. He’d seen her tear people to shreds for much less. “They’re good, but I—.” Janet’s words caught in her throat, and she started to cry. Tim shot up, his eyes wide as he tried to figure out what to do. Tim had never seen his mother cry before. “This was so dangerous, Timmy. What if something happened to you out there? I wouldn’t have—. Where was I when you took this?”
“I think you were in Mozambique or Madagascar… Mom, I—.”
“Is it because you’re lonely?” Janet interrupted as she tried to wipe her tears away. “Is it because we’re not home enough?”
Tim frowned. “You weren’t supposed to notice I was gone… I just wanted to help Batman remember that Gotham needs him,” Tim explained quickly, so he wouldn’t give way to tears.
Janet tried to collect herself, but she was already in the middle of a severe panic attack. Her mind raced through every tragic accident that Tim could’ve fallen victim to. She wouldn’t have been able to prevent it.
“Mom, I—. I’m not gonna do this forever. I just need to remind him to see how reckless he’s—.”
“But, Tim—. You can’t do this anymore. You’re my only baby. I—. I—. Let me talk to him as your mother,” Janet replied. As soon as she said it, she realized how irrational it sounded. But she was desperate to stop Tim from getting hurt.
Tim smiled and shook his head. “Mom, all due respect, but I—.”
“I climbed Mount Everest before you were born, I hiked Huayna Picchu the summer before you were born, and I’ve paddled an uninterrupted twenty-seven hours from Cuba to Florida with you strapped to my back—. All this is to say that I’m much tougher than you give me credit for. I’m your mom, and I have to keep you safe even if it’s from yourself. There’s only one you,” Janet whispered. She pinched his cheek, and he wanted to argue… But it was his mother. He probably would have argued with Jack about it, but Janet had a way of convincing people that her way was the only way.
She looked at the other pictures that she found and glanced at Tim. She wiped her tears away. “These are—.” Janet cleared her throat. “These are really good, Tim. Don’t be discouraged from following through with photography… Um… Have you eaten yet?” Janet asked. Tim shook his head. “Okay. I can probably rustle something up. Don’t tell your dad about this. I didn’t want him to blow up before I could talk to you. I wanna talk more about this later. Okay?”

Dick (Nightwing) and Jason (Robin) stare at Bruce. One sports pleading eyes, the other a shit eating grin. There’s a child between them with black hair and blue eyes.
Bruce, he doesn’t know what’s happening but he doesn’t like it: No.
Dick, grinning: He’s our younger brother now.
Jason, nodding seriously: You’re not gonna take him from us.
Tim, got kidnapped while taking photos of patrol, just happy to be there: Where’s the Batcave?
Bruce: what.
Dick, grinning wider: He’s ours now.

AU where Tim wasn’t ever obsessed with the Flying Graysons or Batman and Robin, and thus never found out their identities. And then at 15 years old his class gets assigned a “fun” research project to propose who resident boogeyman Batman could be and, being the overachieving genius that he is, Tim gets sucked into a conspiracy theory rabbit hole and actually uncovers the truth. Mostly he’s mad that he can’t actually give his excellent presentation bc he can’t compromise Batman’s identity even more, can he?

If Tim had to pick a point of time by which all of his problems started, he would probably say birth. Maybe even before that, if he was being generous.
His parents were never home, and he was left unattended at home during their months-long trips since he was ten. His father had deemed him "old enough to take care of himself" and that was that.
Tim didn't even think that his parents knew he had graduated high school early, at barely fifteen years old, and had started taking college classes as a business major with a criminology minor. Sue him, he had never fully grown out of his fascination with the local vigilantes.
If they didn't know, it would explain a lack of funds for his continued survival as a college student. Each semester cost thousands of dollars, which subsequently dwindled his parent's allowance into mere scraps. Hardly enough to cover textbooks, much less food or transportation.
Hence the new job.
Well it wasn't new per se, as he'd been working at the old grocery store in the middle of crime alley for a few months now, but it was still his first job. Other than his side hobby of taking pictures of Batman and his allies at night. But that one didn't pay anything, only cost him sleep and time
Coffee was the only reason he still stood conscious and not in a sleep-deprivation coma. He didn't even like coffee! He only drank it for the higher dose of caffeine compared to tea!
Either way, this place was paying him under the table in cash so he didn't question the clearly nefarious purposes this store had. Tim wasn't dumb, obviously, and seeing non-workers waltz into the back of the store and into an area he wasn't allowed into tipped off more than a few red flags.
Ignorance is bliss, they say. Tim was going to hold onto his perceived ignorance for as long as he could. Of course, not that his bosses knew anything of it, but he had been collecting evidence on them since he started working at the run down grocery store. He just needed to find a way to continue the store's survival for those less fortunate, continue earning money for his survival, and get rid of the criminal activity in this place without absolutely destroying everything.
Easy, right?
Wrong.
So very, very wrong.
He had just been walking out of the store after closing it up for the night when he was grabbed from behind and pulled onto the roof across the street.
From there he was turned around, let go, and had to reorientate himself before looking up.
Right into the yellow circle with the bat in the middle.
Holy fucking shit, Batman.
i know there are probably over hundreds of 'tim joins the batfam early' fanfics everywhere. its gotten old now, so i propose a new idea:
"tim joins the batfam really fucking late and pretty much on the cusp of adulthood". DO YOU SEE THE VISION??
jason is still alive here and so is damian who assumes the robin role, while jason continues to become red hood after the trauma inflicted by the joker(just less....shooty). tim's parents are still alive here, but continue to be extremely neglectful as they gallivant across the globe.
tim is like 16-17 here and at the peak of his awkwardness levels and is flustered at the bare minimum eye contact. he works part time at a convenience store because his parents only give him money to pay for tuition and not basic utilities. unfortunately, this grocery store is in the middle of fucking crime alley and is quite the hotspot for local crime bosses and street kids to buy groceries from.
now the reason why crime bosses come here is a reason unknown until later, when we find out that the owner of the grocery store uses its pay to fund a shady organisation which is the latest hyperfixation of the bats.
so the batfam get's a tip abt this org and start investigating more by going to this grocery store where tim works. tim is still the little stalker that we all know and love, and assumes that the reason why so many bats are coming to this store is to arrest him for knowing their identities and ruining everything he knows and loves.
picture this 17 year old, blubbering mess trying so hard to keep up a convo with red hood without trying to throw him off abt knowing his identity. the worst part is, each new day a different vigilante comes to the store to talk to him and get to know him to see if he could somehow be linked to this organisation.
but then they obviously start realizing that tim is neglected and emotionally abused, and since they've started becoming fond of him, they make a plan to foster him for the time being. but before they could do that, tim get's kidnapped by that org as they find out he's somehow connected to the bats
so the bats then try to save tim, shut down this org and we end this story by adopting tim and screwing jack and janet drake over 👍

As a prompt Danny after he enters Gotham for any suddenly starts growing again for the first time since the portal incident and his body instead of slowly again decides to catch up all the missing years of growing at once so Danny goes from still looking 14 to suddenly having his father's height and looking his actual age.
Growing pains.... Literally
Since his death, Danny hasn't really... Grown. His parents think he's a late bloomer, that he'll grow later in life. But it's been four years since he's died and he hasn't grown a single inch in that time.
Frostbite is kind enough to tell me that... Well... He's stuck.
He's stuck in this form until something affects his physical form. Amity, even though it's considered the most haunted place in earth, doesn't have enough ambient ectoplasm for Danny. There are too many ghosts from the realm that feed of it, too many nevermores that need it to exist. Amity feeds it's ghosts but it doesn't have enough for a halfa like him.
When he moved to Gotham for the aerospace program (plus the scholarship) he doesn't expect much from it. People still question him about his age, it almost ends with him flinging his ID and birth certificate on people and cussing them out on his height.
He had even started exploring the city. There was this one cafe he found and the owner, Lily, was an absolute angel! With a shotgun. And he met a lot of people in Lily's Eden Cafe, like this weird kid that apparently dropped out of high school. Now, Danny ain't one to judge, so he's pretty okay with Tim. Except for the fact that he was so cool and smooth on a skateboard. Danny wanted one too.
Almost a week after moving, he's suffering. His body hurts, everything aches. It's as if something inside of him was trying to break out and it's making his bones strain. Everything about it hurts.
Many days passed of Danny being delirious from the pain, barely able to register what he was doing. A week and it's like he spent a coma walking around while his consciousness was asleep, practically dead by the lack of his memories.
The next time he woke up, it's been a week since he blacked out from the pain.
There's music in the background, almost familiar. The beat is something he heard Ember compose before his eighteenth birthday, then it was practically blasted through our the Ghost Zone when the day actually came.
"Shhh! Turn that racket down!"
"Hell nah! He likes it, see?"
"The little king seems.... To......change... Gotham..."
His eyes snapped open, gasping when he saw multiple pairs of eyes looking down at him.
"He's alive!"
Danny's instincts took over in that second and he's sending a blast of ecto towards the sudden scream. More screaming. Too much screaming. His head hurt.
"Holy shit, baby pop!"
He takes a moment before he's recognizing Ember... And the hole on his wall... And his glowing hand. Shit.
"Woah, woah! Calm down."
In Danny's confused state, he could barely register Kitty and Johnny in the room. Oh, and Shadow too. But still...
"I— What happened?" He groaned, blinking slowly. "WHAT THE FUCK?!"
His voice... OH MY GOD HIS VOICE! Why was it so deep?! What was wrong with his voice? Did he have a cold or something? Or maybe it's just his morning voice—
"Congrats on your dawning!" Johnny congratulated, grinning like a madman.
"What?" ooh, that was weird, "What the heck is an dawning?"
"Ooh, baby pop!" Ember cooed, "Forgot that our little king is still pretty new to being all ghost. C'mon now, baby. Mama Ember will teach you all about ghost puberty."
"GHOST WHAT?!"
Tumblr media
Ghost puberty was a thing apparently. He had hauled himself into the Far Frozen after yelling at the four ghosts to steal him some clothes that would actually fit him. Because his entire body felt wrong... So wrong.
He was taller now. Having shot up from 5'4" to a whopping 6'2". Everything still hurt and now all his clothes didn't even fit! Nothing looked right when he'd looked at the mirror. He was almost as tall a shis dad now—he looked almost exactly like his dad now actually. It was almost terrifying how much he resembled his dad. If he went to visit now, he's sure that his mother would have a heart attack from how quickly he had grown.
"Frostbite!" Danny practically growled and oooh... Yeah, now it sounded differently to whenever he'd end up snarling. The deepness of his voice almost intimidated him.
"Great one!" The yeti greeted, looking utterly ecstatic to see him. "Ah, I see you've finished your dawning. I offer my sincerest congrats, your majesty."
"Yeah, yeah. The fuck is a Dawning?"
Frostbite blinked, before his expression morphed into a grim one. "Oh dear... I had thought that the Observants would have deigned to explain this too you upon your coronation... Well, let us sit then, great one. This will be a long one."
To summarize it all, Ghost puberty.
A Dawning was a time every ghost went through, so long as there was enough ambient ectoplasm around them to help their forms morph into their preferred appearances. Usually, a ghosts appearance to their own mentality. Their maturity.
Apparently, Young Blood already went through a Dawning but remained in his child-like form due to his own mental age. He was a child in heart, mind, soul, and body.
Meanwhile... Danny who was still alive yet also dead, had followed on with his mental maturity. His body morphed, it changed, it adapted to how he saw himself, how he desperately wanted to become deep down in his core.
And this Danny Fenton was a 6'2" giant trying to control all his limbs that were suddenly too long, too heavy. Everything felt strange....
Tumblr media
Tim Drake's favorite cafe was known for being neutral ground for both rogues and vigilantes. You don't fuck around Lilian's cafe or else she'll pull out a rifle and shoot you dead. So if course, Tim fucking loved the place.
Actually, many people frequented it.
He's familiarised himself with the faces of a lot of people by then. Even that scrawny new kid that arrived three weeks ago. Tim remembers Danny for how enthusiastic he was about going to collage, not even minding the madness of Gotham itself. It was like he thrived in it.
He waves at Lilian after ordering his usual, taking a seat in the corner before he's whipping out his laptop. Duke and Steph arrive soon after, immediately ordering before going off to join Tim.
Mundane things, something they all seemed to appreciate more.
The bell rings, more customers arrive and—
"Danny! Holy hell, what happened?"
Tim paused, immediately snapping his eyes towards— WHAT THE FUCK?!
Steph whistled, "Hot damn..."
Danny Fenton was a scrawny young man, shorter than Tim. Even more slim.
But whoever the hell entered the cafe was 6'2", almost as muscled as Jason, and slouching like Clark—as if he was in the wrong body. He almost dropped his drink if not for Duke gently guiding his hand down.
"Hey, Lils..."
God, what the fuck was that? What was happening? Who the hell was this awkward adonis with a voice as deep as the fucking ocean?
"Tim?" Duke waved his hand over his eyes, "Timothy? Timbers?"
"Duke, leave him alone. He's gone, never coming back." Steph snickered, shaking her head before her eyes went back to Danny, who was stuttering as he tried to order what he wanted. "But damn if I wouldn't act the same. Shoot your shot—"
Shoot his fucking shot he did.
"Hey Danny..." Tim slid up to him with a smile.
Danny blinked—woah was he tall and practically built like a fucking fridge—before his eyes brightened and a smile joined his expression.
"Hi Tim!"
Was this how Bruce felt like when he saw Clark?

Dick was busy working on a case in his apartment when he heard his phone ring.
"Hello?"
"Dick! Come to town square as Nightwing" Donna said.
"Which city? Is there an attack?"
"Bludhaven and it's nothing dangerous but we need you here as fast as possible"
"I'll be right there"
---
As Dick approached town square the noise around him increased drastically. There were thousands of people packed together, people were wearing Nightwing merch, others still wore black and a familiar shade of blue.
Wally appeared next to him and looked almost like an excited puppy. "What's all of this for?"
Wally's smile somehow got wider "It's for you!" Chuckling at the look he sent him Wally continued. "It's for your birthday, the civilians don't know that of course"
"It's not my birthday yet?"
"It will be in 2 minutes! C'mon Roy'll kill me if I keep you from him for too long" Wally didn't wait for a response before plucking Dick up off the ground.
Dick was on another rooftop now, the one across from him had a giant banner with 'We Love Nightwing' on it. Roy and so many other heroes were on the rooftop with him but some faces were not there. Where's Donna?
Dick was tackled to the ground by a kid in a multi-colored suit. "Happy Birthday!"
"Thank you" Tim glowed. From the corner of his eyes he could spot someone in the shadows watching the scene. Batman moved from his spot when he saw Dick noticed him.
"It's almost midnight, Come on! You're going to miss it!" Once again Dick was dragged but this time to the edge of the roof.
Dick didn't miss it, he was glad for that fact.
Donna, Diana, Clark, Kory, Raven and even Garfield transformed as a hawk soared across the sky. They scattered black and blue confetti while waving around lightsticks.
The crowd around them erupted he could hear some screams and chants of his city's love for him from up here. Dick felt so much adoration for everyone around him, he nuzzled Tim closer and closed his eyes.
Out of all the places in the world Dick couldn't think of a single one he'd want to be at more in that moment.

I need a fic where Bruce realizes this kid who shoved his way into his sidekick role will not be leaving anytime soon, and instead of emotionally distancing himself he becomes a combination Helicopter Mom and Shotgun Dad.
☆彡
Tim: Bruce, I’m headed out to meet my friends at the mall.
Bruce: Is that Kent boy going to be there?
Tim, rolling his eyes: Yes, Kon is going. And so is Bart, and Cassie, and maybe Bernard if he can make it.
Bruce: Hnn. Do you have everything? Coat, scarf, keys, wallet, tracker, pepper spray, dagger, kryptonite shard, emergency beacon, first aid kit, fire starter, extra pair of-
Tim: Yes, Dad! I already went through the list with Alfred. I’ll be fine.
☆彡
Kon: Hello Sir! I’m here to pick up Tim!
Bruce: Follow me.
Bruce: Sit down.
Kon: In your study? Is Tim on the way, or?
Bruce: I just thought you might need reminding of the fact that I have a vault downstairs full of items specifically designed to take down a Kryptonian.
Kon: Whuh?
Bruce: You should probably ask your father about the time I was slightly annoyed with him for encroaching on one of my cases.
Kon: Why are you telling me this?
Bruce: Now just imagine what would happen if someone were to hurt my darling little boy.
*door opens*
Tim: Hey Bruce, Alfie said Kon was here, have you seen him? Oh! Hey, why are you two in here??
Bruce: Oh, hey sweetheart, we were just chatting. Have a good time at the carnival!
☆彡
Dick, pouting: I don’t understand, you’re not this protective over who Jason or I date.
Bruce: Don’t be ridiculous, Jason and I may have our problems, but he would never betray me by gallivanting off with someone I disapprove of.
Dick, who covered for Jay sneaking out to visit Roy Harper just last night: Mhm yeah, sure. And you’re not worried about me?
Bruce: Chum, I’ve known who you were going to marry since you were 12 years old.
Dick: WHAT?
Bruce: I have the whole ceremony already planned. I’ve got Gotham’s best wedding planner on standby. You have a very nice house waiting for you both, 20 minutes from here. A modest 7 bedrooms on 5 acres of land.
Dick: I’m not even dating anyone?!
Bruce: I can’t wait to meet my 3 grandbabies:)

Chapter Two: the end
They sat at the dinner table for their first family dinner in what felt like years. Janet poured apple juice into Tim’s cup before kissing his temple. Jack cut his steak into little bite-sized pieces while Tim made Janet’s plate. “Oh, Tim, you don’t have—.”
“I want to,” Tim interrupted as he served her. Janet smiled and sat between Jack and Tim. Jack dug in while Tim made his plate and Janet poured a glass of wine for herself.
He held up his empty glass, and she poured wine into it before announcing, “Your father and I wanted to discuss something with you.”
Tim dropped his fork and took a sip of his juice. Jack was so engrossed in his meal that he didn’t hear his cue to speak. Janet’s jaw tightened as she nudged him. “Oh, um… This steak was cooked to perfection. Isn’t that right, Tim?” Jack asked.
“Jack… Our discussion,” Janet emphasized through her teeth.
“Oh! Tim, your mom and I were thinking about spending more time with you… And we wanted to know if you’d consider traveling with us,” Jack explained. Janet paused, waiting for Jack to keep speaking.
“Or… We could stay home more,” Janet added.
“We didn’t discuss that, Janet,” Jack whispered. Janet’s jaw jutted to the left as she realized Jack had no intention to stop traveling for work. Tim opened his mouth to speak, but a rapidly escalating argument cut him off. Tim tried to look down at his plate as he stuffed his face to ignore his pounding heartbeat. He hated it when his parents fought, but they usually tried to argue in the privacy of their bedroom. And they never argued about him before.
The argument burned out of control like a forest fire until Janet said the one thing she couldn’t take back. “This is why I want a divorce!” Janet shouted. Tim couldn’t stomach it anymore. He pushed away from the table and rushed to the guest bathroom to throw up. Jack stood up and wavered as the wine took effect, and Janet rushed past Jack to check on Tim.
“Tim? Can I come in?” Janet asked. Tim didn’t answer. “Make noise if you want me to stay outside.” Silence.
She opened the door just wide enough to slide inside, and she sat on the floor beside him. He couldn’t stop shaking as he hunched over the toilet. Janet hesitated before rubbing his back, expecting him to flinch away or snap at her. Instead, he burst into tears. “Oh, Timmy… Sweetheart, I shouldn’t have said that. I meant it, but I shouldn’t have said it like that,” Janet whispered. Tim cried into the toilet bowl until Janet pulled him into her arms. “I know… I know, but it’s been a long time coming. It wasn’t your fault. You’re a good boy.” Janet held him close as she kissed his temple.
“But you said it because—.”
“I said it because it should’ve been said months ago… Maybe even years,” Janet interrupted, “I love you so so much. Your dad loves you too. He has his own way of showing it… But don’t ever doubt that we love you.”
**
Janet stepped out of the shower, and Jack leaned forward in his chair, holding his head in his hands. “Janet…”
“What do you want me to say, Jack? Do you want me to lie to you? Say I didn’t mean it? Do you wanna pretend it doesn’t repulse you to sleep in the same bed with me?” Janet asked.
Jack sat up and pointed his finger at her. “Don’t you act like you weren’t acting like a twenty-year-old kid on spring break when we were in Liguria. Let’s go to the club, Jack. We were just dancing, Jack—. ”
“Jack, that was two years ago. I was right in front of you the entire time. I was drunk and nothing happened. You were looking right at me the entire time,” Janet whispered, “Is your ego really that fragile? You can’t handle the idea that I had fun dancing with a friend of mine—.”
“Don’t do that. Don’t pretend like you want to fall in love with me again. You didn’t want to rekindle this marriage, you were afraid—.”
“Stop,” Janet’s voice broke as she whispered it. Tears welled up in her eyes.
“You’re afraid of who you are without me,” Jack replied.
Janet sucked in a breath and shook her head. “And you aren’t? Aren’t you scared? We’ve been in this for seventeen years! We have a son! Everything is going to change… Everything. If I thought for a second that this could work—. When were you gonna talk to Tim? I held him tonight. He cried in my arms over this. If I could fall madly in love with you again and you with me, if I could watch Tim grow up if I could make everything fit into place—. Do you even want to be a father, Jack? You haven’t once given any consideration to Tim’s feelings,” Janet replied as she walked past him. She grabbed her pillow.
“Where are you going?” Jack asked.
“Guest bedroom… After I tell Tim that we love him because I’m tired of fighting,” Janet muttered. Jack sighed, letting Janet leave the bedroom.
Janet ran into Tim in the hallway, and he rubbed his arm. “Mom,” Tim whispered. Janet smiled at him.
“It’s okay, sweetie. We’re not gonna argue anymore. I was just about to say goodnight,” Janet whispered as she held back tears. Tim forced a smile and nodded. “I’m done traveling, Tim… I mean it. We love you so much.”
“Mom… What’s gonna happen?” Tim questioned. Janet sighed and shook her head.
“I don’t know,” Janet replied, “I think we could finally leave Gotham once this year is over… And I didn’t forget what I promised you.” She tapped Tim’s nose.
“Are you going by yourself?” Tim questioned. Janet smoothed Tim’s hair down and leaned forward to look him in the eye.
“It’s gonna be fine. I promise I won’t yell at him,” Janet replied.
Tim grabbed her arm. “No, that’s not what I—. Maybe we should talk about a few things before you go,” Tim suggested. Janet yawned and nodded.
“Okay… Sure, let’s sit in the guest room and talk… Oh, and before I forget, we need to deep clean your room tomorrow after school. Tim, I love you sweetheart, but your room is just ridiculous. What’s going on in there?” Janet chuckled. Tim rubbed his neck.
“I’ve been a little busy lately,” Tim whispered. Janet laughed and let Tim into the guest bedroom before she climbed into bed and turned the TV on.
Tim sat beside her, watching the TV while Janet stared at him. “You were so alert as a baby… Always observing… And so quiet. No one could make you laugh except for your dad. He once told me that you made him feel special. I think we were all at our happiest back then,” Janet whispered, “I never wanted kids before I had you… And I don’t know… Something shifted when I was pregnant with you. All I could think about was what it would feel like to hold you in my arms. Your birth was probably the closest I’ve ever gotten to a spiritual experience. It was frightening and painful, and I wanted to die… And all of a sudden, you were there and in my arms, and I knew I’d never accomplish anything greater than you in my life.” Janet sighed.
“I’m sorry—.”
“Don’t be. I’m so proud of you… But you’re so selfless and driven that it frightens me a little bit. So, I want you to tell me more about this Batman business,” Janet whispered. Tim took a deep breath and nodded before telling her everything from the very beginning.
