"Toxic Positivity" is another phrase that gets bandied about so much that the whole of us forget what shapes our tongues need to make to form the right sounds.
Toxic positivity isn't smiling through tears or stiffing that upper lip, it's not hearing "the sun will come out tomorrow" on the old warped record player in your head or making jokes after a tragedy. At worst, those things are naivety and at best they're Hope.
If you want to see Toxic Positivity, capitalized and omnipresent, just to see what it looks like, go to any job recruiters' page on LinkedIn. It's a landscape made of rictus smiles and worn down manifestations; each profile is a shiny altar to a god that won't acknowledge it's been abandoned.

I am by no means an expert on the subject at all, but if I could give one piece of advice to people who are job hunting, it is to always save a copy of the description of any job you apply for. It’s getting RIDICULOUS out there (at least in my experience/industry) in terms of how long between when a job gets posted and when they start contacting applicants for interviews, and unless you have a photographic memory, or the job is still active on the website you found it on, you will forget details about the job before you get invited to interview and it’s probably not a strong sign if you ask the interviewer what the heck the job is again (even if it’s fair given the elapsed time and how many applications people expect you to have going at once).
If it’s not already available in PDF format, just click the print option on your browser’s menu when you’re on the webpage with the job listing and when it gives you the window with the printer specifications, select “save as PDF” on the dropdown of available printers instead and save it to the same folder where you’re saving your cover letters/resumes/application materials with the name of the company/job title/date you applied in the file name. easy peasy. I still forget to do this occasionally but even remembering to do it half the time has saved me a lot of trouble overall.
job hunting sucks and is demoralizing on the best day, so keep your head up, do little things like this to make your life easier, and remember that I love you 💖 you got this!

unpopular opinion but being able to perform well under pressure should not be a required skill for the majority of job applications if not all. why are we normalizing putting stress and anxiety on people who try to make a living and making them think having to work under pressure is something that is "challenging and good" (hence it takes skills to be able to do so) instead of something that the companies should fix?

Me waiting in the interview room knowing full well I'm not gonna get the job because I'm slightly less hireable then the next person and the manager wants the best for a menial minimum wage stationary position at a fast food place.

“When women enter any field in great numbers, the status of the field itself is lowered. The men who are in it leave it; the men looking for work will not enter it. When men leave a field, they take its prestige with them; when men enter a field, they bring prestige to it. In this way, the subordination of women to men is perpetuated even when women work for a wage and no matter what work women do.”

Things I look forward to when I finally permashift/respawn

• I honestly look forward to not stressing over if I have a job or not because in this reality, why is the economy so atrocious??? Like damn so I'll truly be happy knowing that I don't have to work because I'll either be a nepo-baby or literally have unlimited money that I can manage through my LIFA app and even myself. One of my biggest motivations to get to my waiting room is this essentially and to experience my other realities waiting for me :')) just a small rant for today y'all this reality is horrific!
