In one dimension, it was only because of the sacrifice of his twin brother that Danny Al Ghul, now Danny Fenton, was able to escape the League of Assassins with his life. Damian died so he could escape and become a hero.
In another dimension, Danny Al Ghul took a blow meant for Damian during Deathstroke's coup. Danny died so he could survive and become a hero.
The Danny from dimension A is thrown into Damian's dimension B.

Blob Ghosts Adventures
okay crack idea!
y'all know those little transparent marble sized orbs that when you put them in water just grow?
What are they called orbeez?
Anyway!
Onto my idea
Blob ghosts have the same reaction, in the Infinity realms they're fine won't grow much but outside the realm?
Ohohoha! They don't have a true limit!
On an unrelated note Ra's seems to have an infestation that only continue to multiply in quantity and physical size.
Well at least they seem to enjoy his pit waters.
~
Just imagine a huge blob ghost relaxing inside one of the pits like they're on vacation with a sunhat and shades surrounded by other blob ghosts of varying sizes all the while Ra's is in the background looking tiny in comparison
~
Just an Idea

Itty Bitty Living Space
**same continuity as For Lack of a Burger!**
Danny could curse Clockwork. Really, truly, and horribly.
Well, not now, of course. Now Danny had to acclimate to a baby’s body. He had to stuff all his bits and bobs and corners and knobs into a squishy human form again.
A rich squishy human form, at least. He blinked his eyes up at the luxurious green drapes that covered his crib.
“-looking at, Mother?”
“You have a new baby brother, habibi.”
“A brother? Was grandfather not satisfied with me?”
Danny strained to look over at the voices, but he couldn’t move his head much.
“No, Damian, you are to be the heir to the Demon, and your brother is to be heir to the Bat.”
“I see.”
A woman leaned over Danny- very pretty, with long brown hair and piercing eyes. She was holding a boy in her arms, who looked down at Danny with a serious look.
“He is very small, Mother.”
“You were small too.”
Danny felt sleep creep up on his new mortal form, and he yawned, allowing himself to drift off.
~~~
By the time his mortal body was one, Danny had a lay of the land. Rich family? Check. Luxurious surroundings? Check. Absolute fruitloop of a grandfather? Check check.
Ra’s al Ghul was so… Wacko. Absolutely off his rocker. Also somehow undead, which would mean he was one of Danny’s in the long run.
Danny’s problems to solve, that is. Stupid Clockwork, he knew exactly what he was doing when he sent Danny here. He wanted this crazy bastard done away with, and Danny wanting a burger had been a perfect excuse to send him out on an errand.
Ugh.
He’d learned pretty fast that expressing himself was frowned upon. He personally hadn’t been beaten, but he had seen his flesh-brother take punishments on his behalf.
His four-year-old brother.
A child.
It made rage boil up in Danny’s bones, rage that often sent his fragile body into a feverish state.
His grandfather hated that he was “weak”. Both Talia and Damian defended him.
Danny started to stomp down the bubbling pop pop pop of lava-like rage no matter what. He didn’t care much for Talia- she was just as bad as Ra’s if she let the abuse continue- but Damian had never done anything to deserve their ire.
He had to be better. He had to work harder to assimilate into this form and be the best at everything put before him so that Damian would not be hurt on his behalf again.
~~~
By age six, Danny had figured out how to disconnect, in a way, from flesh-Danny. He could put his body on autopilot and work on poking and prodding himself into any nook or cranny that he could fit.
Somehow he knew that he would be cut off from his complete range of powers until soul and body merged. He couldn’t take Damian away from this place until he was back to full strength.
With a sigh, soul-Danny sat back and surveyed the work he’d gotten done. Half of his being was still spilling stubbornly out of the space left in flesh-Danny. He’d figured out the trick to it, though, so it would probably take him less time on the rest than it had on the first half.
“Daniel.”
Danny snapped back into place, looking slowly at his flesh-brother as he came into the training room.
“Akhi.”
“You are still training? It is late.”
Glancing at the window, Danny noticed that yes, it was dark outside.
“I see. Thank you, Akhi. An appropriate amount of rest will make sure my physical form is at optimal performance.”
Damian smirked proudly at him, placing a warm hand on his shoulder and leading Danny to his chambers.
Danny stayed connected when Damian was around. His flesh-brother deserved nothing less.
~~~
His fever lasted two weeks after Damian was sent to Gotham. Tapping into his powers prematurely to ensure that his brother made it out safe was too much for his physical form to handle yet.
It gave him an idea, though. The Lazarus pits were ectoplasm. Nasty, rotting ectoplasm, but ecto was ecto. A slow siphoning and filtering of the pits would assist in getting him completely snapped together.
His time line had moved up. Once Damian had left, there was no-one around to stand in the way of Ra’s and Danny as far as punishments. Talia would barely even look at him anymore- she had thought he had taken over his flesh-brother’s place in the League somewhere around year four.
Sometimes Danny felt like Clockwork was somewhere laughing at him.
Danny would be laughing at himself if he wasn’t the sucker in this situation.
And he still didn’t have a burger.
~~~
The night before his tenth year, Danny felt a snap as the final pieces of his enormous interdimensional soul fit into the body he’d been placed in. With a crow of delight, he let his other form wash over him.
Danny shot through the ceilings up up up to the clear sky above the base, laughing soundlessly as he got closer and closer to the stars above. He was free. He could go see Damian, and then he could go home!
His flight stuttered to a stop.
He didn’t really want to go back to the Infinite Realms, did he?
Crossing his legs under him, Danny thought very hard about what “home” meant to him.
Jazz’s face flashed across his mind, and then Sam’s and Tucker’s.
With a mounting sadness, he drifted back down to his bed in Nanda Parbat. There was no going home, not anymore. His family and friends as Danny Fenton had long since passed, even beyond his reach as Ghost King.
But Damian- Damian could be home. He could go to Damian, and maybe then he’d finally get what he really wanted.
~~~
“And sho-‘ Danny licked ketchup off his finger. “Dat’s how I came’ere.”
Damian was watching him devour burger number three with a horrified curiosity, as were his other (new!) siblings.
“You- you did not ask any questions of your mentor?”
Danny swallowed his bite of burger and then took a swig of BatCola.
“Nah, why would I?”
“Why wouldn’t you?” Tim Drake’s voice was faint and a little shocked.
Taking another bite of his burger, Danny shrugged.
“I jus’ really wanned a burger.”
Damian blinked at him a few times before burying his face in his hands.
“I cannot believe Grandfather thought you the superior heir.”
Ok so I am writing this fic. With dp x DC twin Danny and Damian. I am not good at writing, especially dialogue. So bear with me.
°^°
Danny was not a Fenton originally. He was an Al ghul , a skilled assassin trained since birth.
He does not find those days enjoyable. The injuries, pain and the fact that he was forced to kill. But there were some moments he wouldn't trade for the world. His twin brother Damian is in those moments.
They did everything together, they cried together, trained together and killed together. He can't help but feel as if half of him died the day he failed.
It was supposed to be a simple assignment. Well supposed to. Grandfather didn't need two heirs, he thought it would make Damian weak to rely on him. He was a runt. Unneeded.
That was the day he made Damian kill him. He saw Damian for the last time as he whispered for Damian to kill him.
He doesn't really know what happened next.
•^•
Ok so that is the snippet . I have two options for the backstory
Option A:
Danny opened his eyes to a green landscape. He spent several years as an linimal being. As a human but not fully human, he experienced death but he could tell he wasn't a ghost. He spent those years learning.
He later became a guide of sorts, for those who are lost. Like a psychopomp of sorts. And then he was sent tumbling through a barely open portal. He became the son of the Fentons and then he was at 14. He was lonely, he wanted to meet his ghostly friends again, so he opened the portal. But something went horribly wrong. On that day he became the perfect balance, he was fully human and fully ghost.
He later on has to escape the Fentons.
(yes I shoved a psychopomp au in there as well. And winged Danny too. If you can't tell this fic gonna be so self indulgent. Fenton's are not good in either of these options, I want the batpham. They adopted him because they thought he was interesting and they wanted to see if they could study him. Human traits rarely goes to the ghost form and vice versa . )
Option B:
Danny was in another pit. He tried to climb out but he saw he couldn't, his limbs felt too weak. But a nice couple helped him
He briefly saw flashes of a green landscape, he wonders what that was about.
It was hard adjusting, and definitely more so with the Fentons as his new parents. They had him in the lab, doing chores.
On his 14th birthday they finally managed to make the portal. It didn't work, of course. But he was curious, he walked in the portal . He accidentally connected a circuit with his left hand.
And on that day the portal turned on for a second, and then it failed. The sacrifice wasn't enough. Although a new ghost with a portal making abilities was born of it. Well not exactly. He was a ghost but he was a human and vice versa. A new linimal was born.
He later on has to fight vortex in Gotham.
(so in this one no psychochomp au : c . Although still very self indulgent. But very bad parents the Fentons are in this one. They just wanted a lab rat. Well they knew the portal needed sacrifice, but one soul wasn't enough. If this one wins, there will be halfa jazz. The portal needed another sacrifice)
BACKSTORY
Note - I will be editing and refining this again at some point
Born into poverty to a petty crook of a father and a drug-addicted mother, Jason’s life was a struggle from the outset.
His father, Willis, was physically and emotionally abusive toward his wife and son, and soon ended up in prison. That left Jason alone as the sole carer for his mother, Catherine, and forced Jason to resort to crime to support himself and his mom.
Unfortunately, Catherine passed away from an overdose not long after. Jason was forced onto the streets and left to fend for himself by any means necessary, including becoming caught up in the newly revived Red Hood Gang, where he was further subjected to being used and abused by various adults who took advantage of his gentle, trusting nature and vulnerability as a very young and homeless child with nobody to protect him.
During his time with the Red Hood Gang, unknown to Jason, he caught the attention of Talia al Ghul, who, upon returning to her father, expressed an interest in keeping an eye on young Jason.
One night, Jason came across the Batmobile parked in an alley. Batman had recently put new tires on the vehicle but had not replaced the hubcaps with the redesigned ones yet, creating an opportunity that Jason could not pass up.
Batman caught him when he had already stolen one of the tires and was coming to take the others.
Expecting to be beaten for his crime, Jason was surprised to be offered food instead. He and Batman talked while eating, and Batman revealed himself to be none other than Bruce Wayne. He then told Jason that sometimes, they might surprise him if he gave people a chance. Jason would take these words to heart, even years later.
Bruce attempted to help Jason by enrolling him in Ma Gunn’s School for Wayward Boys, not knowing that the establishment was a front for training the children to be criminals. Despite this, Jason did see the place as a home for a while. Realizing his mistake, though, Bruce went to rescue him, and Jason aided him by shoving Ma Gunn out a nearby window. Bruce considered that perhaps Jason could better channel his anger against criminals as Robin, or else the boy would likely end up a criminal himself, so he took him on.
Jason was not the acrobat Dick Grayson was, but he was a smart kid with skills from life on Gotham’s streets.
After six months of intensive training, Jason was out in the field as the second Boy Wonder. Jason was determined to live up to the legacy of Robin that Dick Grayson had put in place, but it soon became apparent that Jason was troubled.
While Jason soon proved to be one of Batman’s most enthusiastic students, he was also the most damaged and traumatized. Jason’s former life on the streets had left him with an ambiguous sense of right and wrong, and it often placed Jason in opposition to the values Bruce was trying to teach him.
Moreover, repeatedly putting Jason into situations that reinforced his trauma led to Jason becoming increasingly more angry and distressed, which Bruce did not know how to address, so he pulled Jason from duty as Robin, effectively taking away Jason’s only coping mechanism and alienating him.
Jason later discovered that the woman he believed to be his mother was not the woman who gave birth to him after finding his birth certificate. The birth certificate was damaged, making his biological mother’s name unreadable beyond the first letter. Jason used the skills he had learned from Bruce and found three women listed in an address book belonging to Willis with names that began with the letter “S” and began attempting to track each of them down to find out which of them was his mother.
Ruling out the first two women after Bruce caught up with him and decided to help, Jason finally tracked the third to Ethiopia.
Jason briefly reunited with his birth mother, Sheila, but it turned out to be a trap as Sheila handed him over to the Joker.
The Joker brutally beat Jason with a crowbar and left him for dead in a warehouse, along with Sheila, with a bomb. Jason attempted to untie Sheila so that he could save her, but neither made it out of the building before the timer ran down and the bomb detonated, killing them both.
Six months after his death, as a result of Superboy-Prime altering reality, Jason awoke in his coffin. Still bearing the injuries that killed him, Jason clawed his way out of his own grave, wandered twelve and a half miles, and finally collapsed, falling into a coma. He was hospitalized as a John Doe as nobody could identify him due to no missing persons report and no fingerprints for him being on file.
After his escape from a psychiatric hospital, Jason spent another year on the streets as a vagrant, still suffering from severe cognitive difficulties and amnesia. However, another petty criminal eventually recognized him as the former Robin and informed Talia al Ghul.
Talia took Todd in out of her love for Bruce, while her father Ra’s al Ghul was interested in the secret behind his resurrection. The League of Assassins tracked and eliminated everyone in Gotham who knew of Todd’s resurrection to prevent Batman from finding out.
They also interrogated Joker’s henchmen, who were with him during Todd’s murder, to discover how the boy could have survived.
After Ra’s decided that the boy was a lost cause, seeing no improvement in his mental condition in the year since Jason was taken in, Talia restored Jason’s health and memory by immersing him in a Lazarus Pit in which her father was also bathing and helped him escape the House of al Ghul.
Later, on Talia’s advice, Jason determined that his death was never avenged and prepared to confront Bruce by traveling across the globe to meet with various people who would teach him the skills necessary to become as good as, if not better than Batman, including spending time with the All Caste.
During his journey, Jason discovered his Robin replacement was Tim Drake, further tormenting him. He also learned that the man teaching him bomb-making was involved in a Russian mafia-backed deal meant to push the resources of British law-enforcement away from mob crime and onto Islamic extremist terrorism with a framed bombing plot. Todd managed to hunt down the gang and safely detonate the bombs. Ironically, the only surviving member of the gang offered Jason the possibility of a large government payday in exchange for his life because he knew the location of someone high on the Wanted list, who turned out to be the Joker.
After learning of the Joker’s arms deal in Los Angeles for another terrorism scheme against Gotham, Jason began to stalk the villain as a masked assassin. After successfully capturing Joker, who failed to recognize him due to being older, Jason contemplated burning his killer alive after dousing Joker with gasoline. However, Jason realized he did not simply want Joker to die but desired to punish the villain with Batman.
Jason spared Joker and decided to wait for the right opportunity. He also admitted to Talia that he knew that she financed his training to stall him from killing Batman, though Jason claimed he had no desire to kill his former mentor anymore.
Talia then gave Jason the idea to be the Batman that Gotham needs. She also hired the same carpenters who built Jason’s casket and had them build a replica of it (the original was destroyed and beyond repair after Jason emerged from it). Jason eventually confronted Bruce at his gravesite before switching places with Clayface to observe Bruce from afar. Witnessing Bruce expressing no remorse for sparing Joker’s life after killing Jason, Jason was further angered.
Jason resurfaced in Gotham as the gun-toting vigilante Red Hood, appropriating the alias that the Joker had used before becoming the Clown Prince of Crime. Back with a vengeance, Jason protected Gotham with his new brand of lethal justice.
Surprise, it's twins
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/S4glcY6
by noisilyscreechingsong
Bruce just wanted to know more about the new Ghost King and perhaps gain an ally, so why does this teenager look like his son? Why is Damian adamant his twin brother died when he's standing right in front of him? Danny wasn't expecting to see his birth father standing in his kitchen, but now that the ghost was out of the bag what was his next move?
The Phantom Killer
((Here are the first few paragraphs and the AO3 Link. Trigger warnings for death, murder, gore, child abuse, mind control/loss of agency, kidnapping, blood and guts, starvation/dehydration, inhumane treatment, and sleep deprivation. This is not lighthearted like the other fics I’ve written this week, you may have noticed. Be safe!))
The League of Shadows was unrivaled in the field of assassination for a reason. No single, self-made assassin could match the Shadows in skill or ruthless efficiency, nor were they as expendable as the countless trained grunts at the Shadows' disposal. That had been the case for centuries, but that was going to change.
The reflection of the stone shone in Nyssa Raatko's dark eyes, red and green and glowing with black veins so dark they absorbed the light around them. The seed of a plan that would soon come to fruition. First, she would find the perfect weapon, then she would use it to become the most feared and powerful assassin in history. Her father, Ra's Al Ghul, and the rest of the Shadows would be driven to ruin in the face of her unstoppable executioner, as lethal and untouchable as the grim reaper itself, and completely under her control.
All she had to do was break him. Once she weakened his spirit, his power would be hers to command. Danny Phantom. How such a powerful being ended up protecting an isolated town in the Midwest, she didn't know or care to know. It didn't matter. His fate was sealed as soon as Nyssa discovered him. She tracked Phantom, stalked him, discovered his secrets and his weaknesses.
A week it took her, and once she had all the information she needed, breaking his spirit was all too easy. And then, she lay in wait, hidden in the boy's very room.
Phantom Children Pt. 5
Hey guys, it's been really busy for me at university so I have no idea when I'll have free time to write this month. Chapter 5 is actually still unfinished, but I didn't want to leave you guys hanging, so here's the first half of chapter 5.
In Which: Another deal is struck upon the ice
AO3 | Prologue | 4 | [ 5 ] | 6
THE PIT SINGS. A low, groaning thing. Muffled like how sounds distort underwater. It reminded Danny of the sounds of Jupiter he would listen to when he really needed to study; the sounds heavily mixed to be more ambient yet still echoing traces of the original, haunting melody of the universe.
The Pit calls for him. No, not the pit—the ectoplasm in the pit is what calls him. Pulls the waves toward him as if he were the moon, bright and full, whispering with garbled voices hello-hello-hello. His core whispers back the same words every time he is near it. Hello-hello-hello. The Pit lingers in the back of his mind and sings in familiar words he does not understand.
Talia calls it a fascination. Ra’s calls it a connection.
A visceral link. Like calls to like. Strange ectoplasmic middle fingers to the laws of the universe—to the great equalizer that is death.
(Danny thinks Ra’s is wrong. Not completely wrong, but not right either.)
When his ghost form is no longer trying to cannibalize his human self, Talia dials up his training. Before, she was merely an observer. Now, she fights him in the ring, teaching him how to dodge with bruised ribs and broken bones. Brutally correcting his stances with harsh jabs and quick strikes. Sweeps him off the floor with a twist of her leg when he forgets how to use his feet. Each day left him with such bone-deep fatigue that mor more once he fell asleep during his sixty minutes in front of the monitor.
They know, now, that the Pit has no adverse effect on him. That he can use the pit more than once.
Bruises and fractures, cuts and scrapes; injuries mean nothing when a dip in green waters will wash everything away.
Even the possibility of insanity starts to feel far-fetched.
Danny should hate this. He should really hate this.
He loved it.
Phantom had always been a fighter. A protector. An underdog matched up against bigger and stronger foes but always somehow coming up on top. He was popular. Liked by the citizens of Amity Park despite his dumpster fire of a reputation near the beginning. Somehow in the year and a half since Phantom’s conception, he went from town menace to this larger-than-life figure. (Ha!) The hero of Amity Park with all of the expectations and responsibilities that came with it.
But Danny—plain, ol’ Danny Fenton—wasn’t any of that. Wasn’t allowed to be any of that. Because Danny Fenton was a wimpy kid who tripped over air and regularly got shoved inside lockers. He was the ghost hunters’ son who was deathly afraid of the paranormal. A C-average student in a family of geniuses.
A persona unwillingly crafted and carefully maintained, because at least this way no one other than Jazz or Wes will be able to connect Fenton to Phantom. Who would believe it?
But here, in Nanda Parbat, he was neither Fenton nor Phantom— he was something more. He had no secret identity to keep from the people who have vigorously researched him. He had no need to hold back.
Here, Danny was free to be Danny.
“Daniel.”
Even if he was called by the wrong-right name.*
Danny floated up from the pit, his transformation seamless as he stepped onto the edge on quiet feet. Tahlia threw him a knapsack. “Ready yourself, we have places to be.”
He raised an eyebrow. “I get my sixty-minutes after the Pit, remember?”
“I did not forget.” She smiled, resting her hand on her hip. “I simply thought that by beloved child might relish a change in scenery.”
Danny perked up, hands tightening around the straps of the knapsack. “We’re going outside?” Tahlia nodded. “Like—outside-outside. With the sky and trees and—and the stars?”
Amusement softened her sharp features, jade eyes sparkling with mirth. “The very same. Though the place we are going to is quite fickle in nature, and I am unsure if we will get another chance to go. But if you really insist on it then—”
“Wait!” He snapped his mouth shut, clutching the bag closer to his chest.
(Family, his core whispered. Family-safe-safe-protect-need-see-confirm-family-home)
The sixty minutes he gets to see his family was…precious. One of the few times the restlessness in his core would draw back; melt away like frost in the spring, leaving some sense of contentment behind. It was his refuge. Sanctuary. Physical proof that what he was doing here—(staying away-away-why-go back-back-return-home-family-home-protect)—meant something.
But.
Outside.
The Pit might have increased his training regiment, but it also allowed him to leave (escorted) the walls of his rooms. And this—
Danny could go outside.
He could go outside.
If he didn’t accept this now, then who knows when the opportunity would arise again? His family wouldn’t mind, right? Jazz did say something about how spending time outdoors is good for one’s health.
He swallowed a lump in his throat. “My…my family will be alright, yes?”
Tahlia cocked her head. “Why wouldn’t they be? You have done nothing wrong that goes against our agreement, and you have progressed wonderfully in your training. I am quite proud.” At Danny’s disquieted expression, she sighed. She raised her hand. “I swear on the blood of the demon—on our blood—that I will honor our agreement and do no harm to the Fentons and your friends during our trip.”
She lowered her hand. “Are you satisfied, habeebi?”
Reluctantly, Danny nods. An agreement from Tahlia is probably the best he could do at this point. “How much time do I have to prepare?” “Everything you will need is in that back. Though, it might do you good to dress very warmly.”
----------
Danny’s first breath of fresh air was biting. It filled the lungs crisp and clean, chilled him to the bones though he could feel no cold. Each warm exhale expressed itself in swirling mists, disappearing into the slate gray clouds above. A facsimile of his own ghost sense.
Fenton did not think much of breathing; Phantom did not need it.
Danny had never realized how wonderous it was to breathe.
“We head northeast,” Tahlia called out. Like him, she is bundled in thick black layers with long leather gauntlets strapped at the end of the sleeves. Her bag secured tightly, and a sword strapped to her back. Her long black hair is bound in a tight braid beneath her fur-lined hood.
The path is covered with snow, deep enough that his first few steps past Nanda Parbat’s gates sinks his leg midway up his calf with a loud crunch. It was hardly as deep as some parts in the Far Frozen, but over there Danny had the choice to simple float over. Tahlia trudged through the snow with a preternatural grace. The path ahead was marked only by the faint traces of footprints almost—but not quite—covered with fresh snow.
Among the many things the League had taught him, this was one: the devil is in the details.
They speak little on their trek. Not that Danny particularly minds, absorbed that he was with world around him. Nanda Parbat, he learned, was built high in the mountains. Cocooned from the rest of the world by the snow-capped mountain ranges that surrounded it. A fortress of wood and stone that seemed distinct yet so carefully hidden. The high walls protected the buildings within from view. Its roofs—elongated and curved—and tall towers modelled after east Asian architecture. Though which country, Danny does not know.
Their destination—past a large protrusion of stone that covered the fortress from view once crossed—was a lake. Frozen a pale blue with ice, surrounded by more mountain walls and the opening of a cave off to the side.
Perplexed, he said “What, are we gonna go ice fishing? Just so you kno, I’m not that big of a fan. The last time I went with my dad I was nearly eaten by a sea monster.”
“We should have enough food for this exercise, Daniel. And you need have no fear of sea monsters, this lake is devoid of any such creatures.” Once they reached the mouth of the cave, she unstrapped her bag, setting it against the stone wall. Danny mimicked the motion. “We are here to train.”
“With…?”
She gestures to the katana strapped to his back.
“With swords.”
A nod.
“On the ice?”
She smiled, leading him to the edge of the frozen lake. “It has become something of a family tradition of the al Ghuls, to cross blades upon the ice.” She plants a steady foot on the lake, walking towards the center with long strides.
Danny followed behind her with some trepidation. He wouldn’t die from frostbite, he was sure, and if he fell he could always fly himself out. But that didn’t stop him from flinching at the rumbling sounds the ice made beneath his feet.
“My father trained both your father and I on this lake.” Tahlia unsheathed her sword as she took her place across from Danny. “And as your father no doubt trained Damian on his own lake, I have the pleasure of training you.” She slipped into a stance. “On your mark.”
Danny slipped into his own stance, feet apart, both hands on the hilt. Then, something nudged at the back of his mind. “Who’s Damian?”
Tahlia tilted her blade, the polished sword gleaming and sharp. “Your brother. Now—begin!”
“Wait, wha—” Danny barely managed to parry the blow.
Sparks flew as blades crossed and Danny twisted off to the side.
He slipped. Head meeting the ice, the deep crackling sound of the lake making him tense.
Tahlia points the tip of her blade against his chest. A single elegant brow arched high in dissatisfaction. Danny glared at her, brushing the fringes of his hair away from his face. “To be fair, you shouldn’t say stuff like that right before a fight. You caught me off guard.”
“If you find yourself in a fair fight, you have failed to prepare enough.” She sheathed her sword before extending an arm to help Danny to his feet. “The goal of a fight is to end it—no matter the cost. Now, take you place.”
Danny picked up his sword, then, hesitates. He looked up at Tahlia. “Did you mean what you said?” Do I have a brother?
Tahlia smiled, drawing her blade once more. “Impress me and you’ll find out.”
Danny narrowed his eyes.
“Now—”
He adjusted his stance. You’re on.
“Begin!”
Danny lunged.
Ghosts in Gotham
Tumblr media
Danny Phantom / DC Comics
Dedicated To: @psychovigilantewrites
Description: The Batfamily has been through their fair share of the supernatural. That’s why they originally weren’t worried whenever ghosts started showing up in Gotham City. Until one day, something happens; Batman is captured and taken into the Ghost Zone. With no way to go in there themselves, with no way to fight the ghosts inside, the bats decide to call the person who can; Danny Phantom. Together, Danny takes Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne into the Ghost Zone before the Batman is lost forever.
Word Count: 3523
Ch 1 Ch 2 Masterlist
Chapter 3:
_
Danny could deal with a lot.
He'd dealt with dying. He'd dealt with becoming a ghost. He'd dealt with ghosts trying to kill him. He'd dealt with finding out that his dad's best friend wasn't only a halfa like him, but that he wanted to get with his mom. He'd dealt with ghost prison. He'd dealt with finding out he'd been cloned. He'd dealt with finding a future in which everyone he loved was dead and he himself was evil. He'd even dealt with girls.
He thought he could deal with anything.
But being stuck a small space with Damian Wayne and Tim Drake?
He wasn't so sure he could deal with that.
"You incompetent creature, why on earth are you listening to a C-average oaf instead of me?"
"Because the 'oaf' has been here before. We haven't."
"I possessed more intelligence than you and Fenton combined whenever I was four years old, and I have memorized the Infi-map. I am completely capable of commanding this voyage."
Danny's eye twitched at the arguing. It was worse than he and Jasmine. "Does it ever end?" he asked Stephanie through gritted teeth. The blonde sighed.
"Damian feels like he has to prove that he's superior to Tim," she explained. "It's not my place to tell you exactly why, but it's true. And he knows exactly how to get under Tim's skin."
"So.. no?"
"No."
Danny groaned. "It's giving me a headache." He perked up as he saw the island in front of him. "Hey, guys," he said, "We're here."
They had reached the lair of Clockwork. Clockwork was the master of time and could see into any timeline and all of the possible outcomes. Danny had the idea of asking him if he could show them the moment in which Bruce Wayne had disappeared, in the hopes that they could see which ghost it was.
It was a long shot, but it was the only idea Danny could think of.
Tim and Damian had stopped their arguing, unbuckling their seat belts as Danny landed the Speeder on the grounds of the lair.
"So this guy can tell us who took Bruce?" Stephanie asked as she opened the door, stepping on to the ground. Danny nodded.
"Yeah. I can't promise he'll help, but it's our best bet."
The foursome walked towards the massive clocktower, Damian walking in step with Danny as he gripped his sword. Danny knocked on the door, and it opened with a creak.
"Hello, Danny," a voice said. "And hello, Bats." Clockwork floated down. He was a small ghost, purple in color with a darker purple cloak.
"Whaddup, Clockwork," Danny greeted. "Long time no see." He heard Stephanie laugh at the pun behind him and then heard her grunt as Damian elbowed her.
"It has not been long to me, Danny," Clockwork replied. His eyes drifted over the group. "What do you want?"
"I assume that you know, Time Master," Damian answered before Danny could open his mouth, stepping forward until he was right beside a swirling vortex, although his eyes remained on the ghost. "We are looking for my Father, and Phantom says you can help."
"Damian Wayne," Clockwork said curtly. "Son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al’ Ghul. I understand that you are worried about your father, but I would suggest you step back before you see something you don't want to."
Danny was surprised to see that Damian obeyed. He narrowed his eyes. Clockwork almost seemed... nervous? "What aren't you telling us?"
"You are indeed a smart boy," Clockwork chuckled, "I hope you also can deduce that you were not brought here on accident. I was originally going to go and tell you myself, however, I have seen that it would be better for you to have Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne at your side."
"What's wrong?"
"Something has happened," Clockwork turned around, clasping his hands behind on his back as he floated further off. "The Observants have underestimated your power," he turned back around, locking his gaze with Danny's. "The power you have not yet gained."
Danny's face paled. "You don't mean-"
"That is all I can say," the ghost interrupted. "Leave now. I have work to do. I have to stop a little boy with a powerful watch from destroying his timeline."
Danny, however, couldn't move. He was frozen, his eyes wide. There was no way. He was locked in a thermos, with no possible way for a ghost to escape.
Although, that ghost wasn't just any ghost.
"What do you mean by that?" Damian demanded. "Tell us more. Now."
Clockwork looked at the boy with humor in his eyes. "Mr. Wayne, you should not threaten me." He waved his hand. "Now go. You do not have much... time."
Danny shook his head and turned around, walking towards the exit in a trance-like state. With a glance at Clockwork, the others followed, with Damian at the rear. Before he could leave, Clockwork called his name.
"Damian, listen closely," he said, shifting into an older ghost as he spoke. "You will one day get an offer. It will be a tempting offer, one that you will not want to refuse," his eyes darkened. "Do not accept it."
Damian blinked, before strutting outside to follow the others, not responding to Clockwork's warning.
Tim, Stephanie, and Danny were already on the ship as Damian walked out. As he opened the door to step in, he tuned into the conversation.
"So, you're telling us that an evil version of you exists outside of time, and it has Bruce," Tim said slowly. Danny nodded.
"We call him Dark Danny. In the alternate timeline, he- or, I, I guess -watched our family die. He couldn't handle the pain and guilt, so he had Vlad Masters- bad guy, by the way, deck him if you ever see him at a rich-person party -turn him into a full ghost, getting rid of the human side completely. It drove him mad, and without his human side, he was the most powerful ghost in the Ghost Zone. He destroyed the world."
"How did you defeat him?" Damian asked, pulling a capri-sun out of his cooler as he listened. Danny ran a hand through his hair.
"I don't know. Dumb luck, honestly. I guess I have a power that he didn't get until years later, and it knocked him off his game so I could take him down." He grimaced. "I probably wouldn't have beat him if I hadn't surprised him. He took down all of the other ghosts in the Ghost Zone by that point,"
"He must've taken out the Justice League, too," Stephanie mused, crossing her arms. "You said you didn't see them anywhere, right? The only reason they wouldn't have been fighting him is if..." she trailed off.
"We can defeat him," Damian said, crushing the capri-sun in his hand as he finished. "If Phantom can defeat him, then with our help, we can, too."
"Yeah, but like I said, it was only because I surprised him," Danny pointed out.
"Then let's surprise him again," Tim said. He took out the Infi-map. "Danny, who's your worst enemy here? If we can get them to help, and that might knock Dark Danny off his game."
"Pariah Dark," Danny answered instantly. "But that's a terrible idea, trust me," he paused, thinking. "We do need backup, and I know of at least two who could help." He turned his body intangible before Tim could respond, and flew out of the Speeder. He landed in front of it, and putting both of his fingers in his mouth, he whistled. "Come here, Cujo!"
It took a few seconds, but a small green dog zipped in front of Danny, jumping in his arms and knocking him over. Danny smiled widely as he scratched behind Cujo's ears.
"Hey, little guy!" he laughed as the dog licked his face. "I missed you too! You down for an adventure?" Cujo barked, wagging his tail. "I'll take that as a yes," Danny said, phasing back into the Speeder.
"Guys," he said, setting the dog down. "I'd like you to meet Cujo, the best boy in the entire Ghost Zone."
Damian's eyes lit up behind his mask, kneeling down and hugging Cujo as the dog barreled into him, not paying attention as Tim spoke.
"Don't get me wrong, he's adorable, but he doesn't look like he can pack a punch," he said, watching the dog fondly.
"Trust me, he's a fighter," Danny assured him. Tim nodded.
"If you say so, but man, I wish I had a dog," He walked over to where Damian was, scratching Cujo's back. Damian scowled, pulling the dog closer.
"Get back, Drake, Cujo clearly prefers me over you."
"Damian, come on, you have so many pets and I don't have any-"
"You have Bart."
"Bart is not my pet-"
"He is the human version of an Australian Shepherd minus the intelligence-"
As the two bickered, Danny looked at Stephanie. "Damian likes animals?" Stephanie laughed.
"Oh you have no idea, he has a dog, a cat, a cow-"
"A cow?"
"His name is Bat-Cow!" Damian snapped from where he had begrudgingly let Tim hold the dog.
"I love everything about that," Danny laughed. "That's the best name." Damian looked at Tim with a smug look on his face.
"See, Drake? Bat-Cow is a great name."
"I never said it wasn't!"
Danny started to ask Stephanie a question before he heard a crash and the Speeder lurched to the side.
"We've been hit!" Tim yelled, jumping off of the floor and grabbing the Speeder's controls, trying to steady the craft. Danny merged out of the Speeder and narrowed his eyes as he saw the culprit.
A gray ghost in black armor with flaming hair sneered, his arm smoking from where he had shot the Speeder. "Whelp," he growled.
"Nice to see you too, Shorty!" Danny said in a mock-cheerful tone. "Here to kill me? Because you didn't have to shoot the ship, you could've just yelled 'I am Skulker, and you are my prey! Prepare to die!'" he lowered his voice as he imitated the bounty hunter. "And then I would say something witty back, and I would pound you into the ground."
"You aren't the only prey this time, Ghost Child." Skulker answered with a menacing grin.
"You after the Bats?" Danny asked with a raised eyebrow. "If you were trying to kill them, you did a crappy job of it. That blast didn't kill anyone."
"That's the point. I think it'd be fun to beat the proteges of Batman, so they need to be alive and able to fight." he pointed downwards, and Danny followed his gaze, before swooping down to follow.
Somehow, he hadn't noticed that the Speeder was plummeting down to the island below. While the Specter Speeder was durable enough to keep from dying on impact, he didn't want them to crash.
He hurled himself in front of the Speeder, and crossing his arms, made a force  field that surrounding the Speeder. Danny grunted at the exertion, gritting his teeth as he tried to keep the force field surrounding the heavy ship.
The ship still crashed with a loud bang, leaving a large crater around it, but the ship itself was intact. Danny dropped his arms and fell to his knees, exhausted.
The door opened, and his three companions stepped out. "Nice one!" Stephanie praised, and Danny gave her a thumbs-up as he tried to catch his breath. He felt somebody nudge his shoulder, and he saw Damian standing above him with a capri-sun in his hand.
"Drink this," he said, handing Danny the drink. "Do not waste it. I can destroy you."
"Thanks," Danny panted as he poked the straw into the pouch. Damian nodded stiffly.
"Hate to interrupt," Tim said, helping Danny to his feet. "But that that Iron Man wannabe is headed this way."
Danny finished his drink and threw it over his shoulder as his fists lit up with a green aura, ignoring Damian's huff of protest at the littering.
Skulker chuckled as he cracked his knuckles. "Well, look at that," he sneered, "Not a scratch on you! I'm impressed."
"You? Impressed? Who would've thought," Danny said, narrowing his eyes.
Tim pulled out a bo-staff, twirling it around as Damian unsheathed his sword. Stephanie moved to stand beside Danny as she gripped her eskrima sticks.
"Oh, you will soon be impressed yourself," Skulker said as his arms morphed into guns. "You see, I-" he was cut off with a grunt as Danny rushed forward and sent a strong right-hook into his face.
Skulker flew back a few yards before finding his feet again. He glared at Danny. "That was low even for you Ghost Boy. Interrupting me I monologue."
Danny shrugged. "What can I say? It’s the same reason why I’m failing Chemistry; I have a short attention span.” He grinned. "But he doesn't!"
While they had been talking, Damian had managed to get behind Skulker. He jumped into the air, drop-kicking the ghost, sending him to the ground with a thud. Danny picked Skulker up and gave him an uppercut, launching him into the sky.
Skulker shook his head, steadying himself, and shot a barrage of ectoblasts at the four heroes below. Danny made his body intangible while the others, used to being shot at, dodged the blasts with ease. Tim shot his grappling hook at Skulker, wrapping the cord around his leg and pulling him back to the ground.
Tim swung the cord, launching Skulker to the side where his body was met by two hits of Stephanie's eskrima sticks. Skulker merged through the cord and landed on the ground, his teeth grinding together in fury.
"Enough!" he shouted, and sent a shock wave from his arms that blew them back. "I am sick of your pathetic attempts at besting me, whelp! When will you learn that you cannot best the Ghost Hunter!"
"Uh, kind of hard to learn that after I've beaten you, like, every single time we've fought," Danny retorted, putting his hands on his hips with a smirk.
Skulker's eye twitched. "My employer said to bring you in alive, but I don't think he'd mind you all missing a few limbs." His arms morphed into missile launchers, and he held them out at the four.
"Phantom, you possess electrokinesis, correct?" Damian asked quietly, tensing his muscles. Danny nodded.
"Yeah." He met Damian's eyes and smirked as he realized what the younger boy had in mind.
Damian grabbed on to Danny's arm, and, turning them both intangible and invisible, Danny carried Damian into the air, right above Skulker. One of Danny's hands crackled with electricity, and the tip of his fingers brushed against Damian's sword. The blade lit up like a taser. Damian and Danny exchanged a glance and, using Danny's shoulder for leverage, Damian jumped, free-falling towards Skulker.
By the time Skulker saw Damian, it was too late. Damian jabbed his electrified sword into Skulker's armor.
"Oh, crud," Skulker muttered as his armor crackled with electricity, before short-circuiting and launching him into the sky and out of sight.
"Nice one, Damian!" Danny floated to the ground, a wide smile on his face. He raised his hand for a high five. "Up top!"
"Tt. The act of high-fiving is such a ridiculous notion," Damian muttered, but he smacked his hand against the other's anyways. "You did quite well yourself."
"That guy-" Tim popped his shoulder back into place, wincing. "-does not pass the vibe check."
Stephanie snorted. "That guy is the vibe check, Timbers."
Damian sheathed his sword. "I assume that we all have gathered that his employer was Dark Danny?" It was more a statement than a question.
"Oh, for sure," Danny said, before stumbling as Cujo barreled into him. Danny huffed as he lifted the dog to his face. "Where were you, big guy?"
"Are you sure this dog can help us take Future-You down?" Stephanie asked with a raised eyebrow. "A fat lot of help he just was."
"I think he was just sleeping," Danny said as he sat the dog down. "I promise he'll be useful."
"Ship looks pretty good, considering," Tim said from where he was looking at the Specter Speeder. "I think whatever he hit us with just killed the engine. It should start back up."
Danny frowned, a finger on his chin as he pondered aloud. "So if Future-Me has employed Skulker, then he's gotta be somewhere that Skulker has access to. His lair, maybe? But I doubt it. They'd need to be somewhere with some pretty high-tech stuff if they're keeping Batman hostage."
"Are there any technology-related ghosts?" Stephanie asked. Danny didn't answer at first as he watched Tim switch the Speeder on.
"Yes," Danny finally answered. "There is, but I doubt he knows who he's working for. Skulker probably doesn't know either." Danny paused, and the smallest hint of a smile ghosted across his face as another thought struck him. "And I bet Skulker's girlfriend knows even less than that."
_
"So you're tellin' me Skulker's working for Future You? Who took away my voice and my beauty?" A ghost with pink, flaming hair in a high ponytail asked. "Now why the heck would you do that for? I thought we were cool."
"We are. This guy is me from another timeline. He isn't me." Danny explained to Skulker's girlfriend. Ember McLain, the Ghost of Song, crossed her arms, her lips turning into a frown.
"No way he would work with someone who wronged me like that. He would never."
"He doesn't know," Tim spoke up. "He probably just offered him money, or whatever currency you use, in exchange for taking Danny and us."
The Infi-map had taken the four to Ember's lair. If anybody could convince Skulker to stop, Danny had reasoned, it would be her.
"With you, Skulker, Cujo and Wulf on our side, we can beat him," Danny said. "Seeing Skulker and I work together might trip him up," he paused. "You do want to beat this guy, right? I mean, he will end up destroying your voice." Even though Ember might not care about the human world being obliterated, she would definitely care about the same thing happening to her voice.
Stephanie and Damian had stayed in the Speeder with Damian. Stephanie's eyes were wide behind her cowl. "Damian, that's Ember McLain," she whispered. "Remember that song Remember from a couple of years ago? The one Jason wouldn't stop singing on patrol? She sang it! And she's a ghost!"
"Of course she is a supernatural being, Brown, I told you she had the voice of a siren," Damian whispered back.
"I'll talk to him," Ember agreed. "He'll listen to me. You guys go find Wulf, and we'll meet you at Technus' place."
"Great." Danny smiled. "Thanks, Ember. I owe you one."
"Well, I might just take you up on that sometime, Ghost Kid."
"So, Wulf," Tim began as the two walked back towards the ship. "He's like a werewolf? You said?"
"He isn't a werewolf, but he looks like what you'd expect a werewolf to look like," Danny explained. "He's a beast, literally and figuratively. And his claws can tear open a portal to our world, so once we get Batman, we can get out of the Ghost Zone fast."
"Great. Where is he?"
"That's the fun part," Danny replied as he got into the Specter Speeder. "We have to break him out of prison. And the people who own it do not like me.”
G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̏̃n̵͙̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀Wa̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉
It was a simple mission. Damian was working with Father to confirm the existence of a Lazarus Pit below Gotham, as Ra's Al Ghul speculated. And they had found it, deep in the caves below Gotham. A Pit the size of an Olympic sized swimming pool, bubbling and steaming. He'd only looked away for a moment.
"Kin-slayer."
Standing waist deep in the water stood Damian's reflection. The hair might be white, and the eyes glowing with the waters, but it was his face. But not his face alone.
Danyal's ghost glared at him. "Get in the water."
Father threw a batarang at him, but the metal flew straight through his head like it was air. Danyal didn't even glance at him, his eyes fixed on Damian. "Get in the water," he ordered again. He stepped closer to the shore and the green water sloshed up the bank higher than it was before. "Or I'll raise the tide so high, all of Gotham will die. So get in the water."
Damian's heart jumped into throat. "Wait-"
"Get in the water."
Father shoved Damian behind him, as if it would protect him, as if he could stop Danyal. "Stop this, please-" If he could just explain-
Another step and the waters surged forward, nearly touching Father's boots. "I'll make whirlpools so profound, your entire family will drown," he promised.
"NO!" Not his brother, his kind brother-
"THEN GET IN THE WATER!" Danyal snarled, revealing monstrously sharp teeth and a black tongue from Damian's poison. "G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̟̰͙̏̃n̵͙̝̟̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀w̵̜͍̤̌a̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉͜!̷̡͔́̀̽" He lunged and Father pushed them back down the passage they'd come. "Don't mistake this for a bluff, brother. You've lived more than enough. Just get in the water." Damian swallowed, throat dry. Was this Danyal's revenge? Did he finally have to face what he had done?
"Robin, who is this?" Father snapped, trying to keep retreating down the cave. But Damian wouldn't let him; the waters, and Danyal with them, would only follow.
Danyal looked between them, scowling. "G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̟̰͙̏̃n̵͙̝̟̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀w̵̜͍̤̌a̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉͜!̷̡͔́̀̽" he snapped again. "I'll take your father and gouge out his eyes, unless you want to stop being a coward and choose to die. Now... get in the water."
Early life
Giancarlo Giuseppe Alessandro Esposito was born in Copenhagen, the son of Giovanni Esposito aka John C. Esposito (1931–2002), an Italian stagehand and carpenter from Naples, and Elizabeth Foster aka Leesa Foster (1926–2017), an African-American opera and nightclub singer from Alabama.
When Esposito was six, his family moved from Copenhagen, Denmark to Manhattan, New York. He attended Elizabeth Seton College in New York and earned a two-year degree in radio and television communications.
Career
Esposito made his Broadway debut at age eight, playing a slave child opposite Shirley Jones in the short-lived musical Maggie Flynn (1968), set during the New York Draft Riots of 1863. He was also a member of the youthful cast of the Stephen Sondheim-Harold Prince collaboration Merrily We Roll Along, which closed with 16 performances and 56 previews in 1981.
In 1988 he landed his breakout role as the leader ("Dean Big Brother Almighty") of the black fraternity "Gamma Phi Gamma" in director Spike Lee's film School Daze, exploring color relations at black colleges. Over the next four years, Esposito and Lee collaborated on three other movies: Do the Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues, and Malcolm X.During the 1990s Esposito appeared in the acclaimed indie films Night on Earth, Fresh and Smoke, as well as its sequel Blue in the Face. Esposito played FBI agent Mike Giardello on the TV crime drama Homicide: Life on the Street. That role drew from both his African American and Italian ancestry. He played this character during the show's seventh and final season. Mike's estranged father, shift lieutenant Al Giardello, is portrayed as subject to racism, something Esposito's character practiced in School Daze. Another multiracial role was as Sergeant Paul Gigante in the television comedy, Bakersfield P.D..
In 1997 Esposito played the film roles of Darryl in Trouble on the Corner and Charlie Dunt in Nothing to Lose. Other TV credits include NYPD Blue, Law & Order, The Practice, New York Undercover, and Fallen Angels: Fearless.
In 2006 Esposito starred in Last Holiday as Senator Dillings, alongside Queen Latifah and Timothy Hutton. Also in 2006, he played an unsympathetic detective named Esposito in the 2005 film Hate Crime. The film explores homophobia.
Esposito played Robert Fuentes, a Miami businessman with shady connections, on the UPN television series South Beach. He has appeared in New Amsterdam and CSI: Miami. In Feel the Noise (2007), he played ex-musician Roberto, the Puerto Rican father of Omarion Grandberry's character, aspiring rap star "Rob".
New York theater credits for Esposito include The Me Nobody Knows, Lost in the Stars, Seesaw, and Merrily We Roll Along. In 2008 he appeared on Broadway as Gooper in an African American production of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Debbie Allen and starring James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, and Terrence Howard.
From 2009 to 2011, Esposito appeared in seasons 2 through 4 of the AMC drama Breaking Bad, as Gus Fring, the head of a New Mexico-based methamphetamine drug ring. In the fourth season, he was the show's primary antagonist. He received critical acclaim for this role. He won the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama award at the 2012 Critics' Choice Television Awards and was nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards, but lost to co-star Aaron Paul.
He appeared in the film Rabbit Hole (2010).
Esposito appeared in the first season of the ABC program Once Upon a Time, which debuted in October 2011. He portrayed the split role of Sidney, a reporter for The Daily Mirror in the town of Storybrooke, Maine, who is the Magic Mirror, possessed by The Evil Queen in a parallel fairy tale world.
Damian: Hmm, I have [Important Task Here] to do, so I'll be gone for a few days, maybe a week.
Damian: ...I trust none of my siblings to care for my animals. Not even Pennyworth is trustworthy after last month's Jerry debacle.
Damian: *dials a phone number*
Damian: It's me, are you willing to pretend to be me for upwards of a week? You get to mess with our family for the low cost of looking after my pets.
Danyal "Danny" Fenton, formerly Al Ghul: Absolutely.
Danny ends up a doctor like his parents, just not the type of doctor they were expecting.
Danny becomes an archeologist.
He couldn't help it! Most of his friends were dead people, some from as far back as ancient Mesopotamia! He automatically knew every dead language by virtue of being a ghost! The way his friends talked, he wanted to know more about their lives. So he goes looking and makes a name for himself.
He becomes a well known archeologist. As a grad student, he works for the Drakes, even babysitting their son, Tim. He goes to Janet's, and later Jack's, funeral, offering to take Tim in, which the boy is grateful for but declines in favor of a bio-uncle. Eventually, Danny discovers the remains of an ancient cult in the Middle East.
Ra's learns that the remains of the original League of Shadows has been uncovered by a group of archeologists. Originally visiting the dig site to ensure the group doesn't discover any traces of the modern-day League, he finds himself intrigued by the young Dr. Fenton leading the dig. He's smart and bright and the first person in 400 years that can speak Ra's birth language. He becomes fond of the good doctor, even more so when he discovers that Danny's a conservationist and is skilled with a Xiphos (all Pandora's doing). How strange that their spars often end up with them retreating to Danny's tent to be alone...
And then Danny invites Tim Drake to visit, worried about the boy being a teen CEO with no breaks. Tim agrees.
