FT x TWST Housewardens

Ever since I realized (halfway through my other batch of drawings) that Housewardens specifically get to design their own uniforms, I've been wanting to a new batch with them because I get to partially customize the uniforms based on what I think the character would do and I think that's neat.

Also featuring little blurbs of story content stuff because this AU is starting to live in my brain. (Help there's so much in there but it's so fun.)

Alrighty! So, a short while ago I asked @kimium what stuffed toy each Housewarden in Twisted Wonderland would have had as a favourite when they were little (see her answer here!). She prompted me, in her post, to give my answers as well, and I finally have time to do so!

Riddle - Teddy bear. It's basic, I know, but I think Riddle with a stuffed bear is such a cute image and I can't get it out of my head. The bear is black, and it has the cutest little proportions. He would cherish it and take very good care of it at all times. I think Riddle is one who takes very very good care of his belongings.

Leona - A stuffed lion. It's brown with an auburn mane, and it's worn and a little faded from being washed and used prior to when he had it (younger siblings get the hand-me-downs, sorry Leona). He pretends to hate it. He pretends he doesn't like it at all. But he sleeps curled around it and still drags it almost everywhere when he's a child.

Azul - A whale. Not just a little whale stuffie, but a Large one. Like, it is easily half the size of his bed. Azul loves it because he can snuggle right up to it and lean against it when he is studying or playing. It was big enough that when he met the twins, and they would inevitably come over to his home, all three of them could curl up around/on the whale and be very comfortable without feeling crowded.

Kalim - A tiger. Is this because of Rajah from Aladdin? Yes. Yes, it is. I'm not ashamed to admit it. Also, I think tigers are gorgeous, and as a child I wanted one as a friend very much. I think Kalim would also want one, and I think when he was little the closest he could get was a stuffed one because his parents were Not going to add to their stress with a tiger to take care of (I feel you, Kalim. I wanted to have a kangaroo as a friend when I was little, but the most I was allowed was a stuffed animal version. The excuse at the time, because I was a child with very limited understanding of the world, was that Australia was too far away so the "kangaroo would miss it's mommy" if I had a real one come live with me. That made me cry because I didn't want a kangaroo to be sad and miss it's mom).

Vil - A white kitten, specifically a fluffy medium-length haired one. (picture Spud, but white with blue eyes and a dainty pink collar). I think he would really love it and would brush it with a little accessory he bought for it at the toy store. He would sit it on a cushion and treat it as if it was a real pet.

Idia - Idia had one of those octopus plushies; the ones that have an angry face and a happy face, that you can turn inside out to display different emotions. Happy face is pink. Angry face is blue. He loved it as a child and for a while (right up until Ortho's tragic accident) it was permanently on happy and he and Ortho would have it sit next to them while they played video games. After the incident it was rare to see it on happy mode, even if Idia was enjoying himself while playing a video game or talking with the Ortho he created.

Malleus - A stuffed dragon. Malleus went to One(1) toy store with Lilia and saw a stuffed dragon there and went "that's me" and would not stop staring at it. Lilia bought it for him and as a child he brought it everywhere. It's green, with iridescent fabric for the wings and belly. He calls it "Sir". Nothing else, no second part to the name. Just "Sir".

Are there any of the housewardens that Billy is intimidated by or scared of, despite him being a giant? And is there one that he respects more than others?

I'll just run through the list of Housewardens, and Billy's thoughts on each of them. ;) RIDDLE

When Riddle first met Billy, he didn't like the big guy at all. Keep in mind, Billy is a man-eating giant who tried to kidnap two of Riddle's students, and who has various treasures he's taken from "little ones" over the years. So, at first, Riddle not only disliked but also distrusted Billy a lot. However, over time, I think Riddle realized that Billy's really not as bad as he at first seemed...but with that said, considering the big guy's dumb as a brick and has a near-complete lack of social decorum, it's hard to say he's best buddies with Billy. I think it's best to say Riddle tolerates and perhaps feels mild affection for Billy, but he also gets annoyed by the giant a lot.

LEONA

Leona does NOT like Billy AT ALL. First of all, Billy is basically a big dumb kid, and I think that phrase alone gives you some idea of why he would get on Leona's nerves a lot. But second of all, Billy's mere existence helps to humble Leona a bit; it puts him a little on edge. While Leona is, I think, much more skilled with magic - and obviously a lot smarter - than Billy is, as well as having whatever power and status he has from being a Prince...Billy can literally become the size of a building and potentially flatten him. Of course, at the same time, Leona could turn him into a massive pile of sand, if he really wanted to. So it's always very touch-and-go when he encounters the big guy; Billy, meanwhile, I think actually WANTS to be Leona's friend, and even shows him respect as a housewarden...but he's not scared of Leona almost at all. If he feels like Leona is messing with him or people he cares about too much, he'll readily stand up to him without any hesitation or holding back.

AZUL

From Billy's standpoint, the relationship is similar to that of Leona: Billy actually WANTS to be Azul's friend, but he's also ready to call Azul out on his BS and even threaten him, if the need arises. As for Azul...he thinks Billy is an easy score. Except when he doesn't. XD See, on the one hand, Azul is completely and totally aware of the fact that not only does Billy have a veritable hoard, but he is also incredibly dimwitted and has a sort of childish optimism. These are things that, in his greedy mind, he's more than eager to take advantage of. HOWEVER, he's also more than aware of the fact that if he messes up, he literally runs the risk of being perhaps Billy's first taste of octopus. And while Billy IS extremely gullible, he can also be very vengeful; he doesn't forget when someone makes him mad. So, again, it's very touch-and-go when the two meet, just for totally different reasons.

KALIM

They are semi-besties. Plain and simple. XD Kalim really doesn't care about Billy's past or Billy's temper or anything like that. The two are very much kindred spirits; they're both big, silly children who don't fully understand the world around them. They're both used to getting what they want and having more than adequate means to manage it. And they're both people who believe in making friends before enemies. Billy, of course, isn't EXACTLY the same as Kalim, on multiple levels, but the two get along very, VERY well. The reason I say "semi-besties" is because I don't think the two hang out a lot together, for multiple reasons...but anytime the two do meet, they might as well be twins. XD

VIL

When Vil first met Billy, he HATED the overgrown ignoramus. Vil is Billy's housewarden, and so he's the one who has to deal with the big potato more than anybody else. And Billy is - to be blunt - kind of everything Vil finds APPALLING. I think, even to this day, it baffles Vil how the giant got sorted into HIS dorm in the first place, because - even more than Epel - Billy just seems such an anomaly in Pomefiore. So, at first, he GREATLY disliked the big fat ball of blubber. HOWEVER, just like Riddle, over time he came to feel affection for the big lug. He got to understand Billy better, and saw more and more the values he had as a person, and perhaps get some vague notion of what he's doing in Vil's house. I think now he's sort of a constantly-annoyed big brother figure to Billy: he's strict, he's stern, he's perennially frustrated...but he does genuinely care about the big lummox. As for Billy...more than any other housewarden at Night Raven, Billy shows the most respect for Vil. Schoenheit made it VERY clear where the two of them stand early on; he's one of only two housewardens Billy never refers to as "little friend," and he is always seeking Vil's approval and praise. Hearing Vil compliment him is something that fills Billy with joy beyond compare. I also think Billy WORRIES about Vil, weirdly enough: like, considering how Vil is so persnickety, as well as having a strict diet, Billy legitimately feels concern, worrying if his housewarden is eating right and getting enough rest. Vil usually just dismisses this foolery.

IDIA

Idia's reaction to Billy can best be described as "NOPE." After all, the overblown baby is a bubbly extrovert and cuddlebug with about half a brain cell, which is already a problem for someone like Idia. But when you top off that fact with the notion he could cause havoc for Idia's science elements, and that he EATS PEOPLE? Yeah, that's...absolute TERROR for Idia, at that point. Billy is just all kinds of levels of O HORROR AND DESPAIR SPARE ME GREAT GODS for Idia. Humorously, I think Billy is completely oblivious to this, and thinks Idia is adorable and sweet...in more ways than one. ;)

MALLEUS

Alongside Vil, Malleus is the housewarden Billy respects the most. This is primarily because Billy is actually legitimately SCARED of Malleus. He doesn't hate Malleus, mind you; if, Heaven forbid, Malleus were in trouble and needed Billy's help (unlikely, but not out of the question), Billy would assist him without much hesitation. But he genuinely finds Malleus to be SCARY, and has ever since they first met. Even if he's in his giant form, Billy tries to be respectful and is always a little nervous around the dragon prince. The last thing he wants is to make Malleus angry. Ironically, Malleus has no ill will towards Billy whatsoever; he's essentially "neutral" towards the giant. Nothing against him, but no strong opinions. They are cordial, to say the least.

— it begins simply; “i changed up my look, got a clue what changed?” you asked, a playful tone in mind. riddle, however, tenses up as he hurries to observe your figure, quick to try and figure out the supposed difference. now that he thinks about it, you did give off a different air than the day previous..or maybe his head was messing with him because of your words? he’s not sure, but he doesn’t want to upset you either.

— “perhaps..you changed the way you’ve styled your uniform?” riddle tests carefully, sighing mournfully when you smile while shaking your head; not a sigh of defeat though! “then, have you maybe done your nails?” and another sigh when you casually wag your pointer finger, “nope!”

— this goes on for quite some time, each time riddle making a guess, and you responding in some way to say, wrong! that part of you actually looks the same as yesterday. and to be frank, riddle might have to sigh that sigh of defeat sometime soon. eventually he gives in, “what about you has changed, really..?” to which you respond lightheartedly, “nothing, i just wanted your attention on me <3” it took riddle all he could not to collar you right then and there as the understanding hit him. lovingly.

— at the time, leona is about to sleep in the botanical garden when you casually sit next to him and point to yourself with a smile, “did you notice? i’m actually different from yesterday, can you guess?” as a lion beast man, he has enhanced senses, so he’s quite aware of the game you’re playing. nothing has changed really, and he wants to get back to napping; but he has the urge to play along with you.

— “mm-mm, ‘m not sure. maybe you’re more annoying than usual?” you laugh innocently, waving your hand around. “nope, i’m the same amount as yesterday. it’s something else.” leona pretends to think for a moment, “is the fact that your hair is lookin’ a little messy on purpose then?” he yawns, and you do a big exaggerated x with your arms. thankfully for you, your hair doesn’t actually look messy.

— eventually, leona shrugs a shoulder as the other is busy supporting his head as he slowly starts to get the urge to fall asleep again. “well, i’m stumped, herbivore; you gonna tell me what it is?” he asks lazily, in his half tired sleep forgetting that he already knew there was no difference. hence you lay your head on his lap and give him a peace sign, “i lied, i just figured your dreams would be a little better if you saw me just before your sleep :3” “ah..mkay.”

— “azul~ i tried something new today, can you see it?” the octomer turned to you in his seat quizzically, a subtle sweatdrop as he tries to decipher your current look from yesterday’s. ah, perhaps this is revenge for the fact that last afternoon he had overtime and couldn’t pay attention to you much. surely he could figure this out.. so, though he was better in strategy, he decided to take a gamble with your sudden little guessing game.

— if only he knew you were plotting this beforehand..he would have paid grim in tuna to tell him the difference. “have you been taking voice training?” “same voice as usual ^^” azul hummed begrudgingly, “have you taken up an active sport to become buffer?” “nuh uhh!!” “so i’ll suppose you haven’t accidentally drank any psyhical form changing potions either..?” “i drink responsibly!” he’s starting to run out of options and quick.

— and within five minutes, he’s run ragged out of trying to figure out what may have changed, so you poke at his forehead jokingly, “give up?” so he sighs finally, “give up.” he questions as you strike a dramatic pose, though he used to your antics as you shout with pride, “actually, nothing’s changed!” “pardon?!” “i just wanted your eyes a chance to look at me since they were so focused on papers yesterday TT-TT” ah, so it was an act of revenge.

— when you ask him, it’s when the party he’s thrown has already commenced, hence all responsibility has gone to jamil for the night; as usual. “hey hey, kalimm!!” kalim turns to you excitedly, with how joyful he is to get to spend time with you now that the party planning is finally over. “ah, hey [y/n]!” he waves you over to the couch he was sitting on, and you sit beside him and merrily ask, “i’m trying out a new look~ !!do you know the difference between today and yesterday??”

— o-ho, a guessing game? he’s pretty good at those, if he says so himself. “you..remembered to tie your tie when you didn’t do it yesterday!” oh, that was true..but it didn’t count! “not a major change!” kalim nodded in understanding, “are you trying out color eye contacts?” “..my eyes are the same as yesterday, kalim���･ω･)” okay, so maybe this would take a few tries; but he’s sure he’ll get it eventually!

— he did not get it eventually, but he kept trying nonetheless before eventually running out of little changes to name. “is there anything about you that you changed, really?” kalim pouted, causing you to giggle mischievously. “no~pe, i just wanted to have time with you to myself!!” “oh?! you could have just told me then!” and as such, the rest of the party was spent between you two deciding what new looks you could try pulling off in the future.

i had come across some housewarden ace fanart and i originally hadn't really known what to make of it outside 'hell yeah ace rock that outfit'.

but when i brought it up to my friends, i ended up talking MYSELF into liking the idea wayyy too much.

the way i bought into the idea was that riddle "nominated" ace to be housewarden for his junior year. and by "nominated" i mean, riddle went: 'my last order before my reign as housewarden of dorm heartslabyul comes to an close is that you-- ace trappola-- are to become housewarden in my stead.'

and ace went: "HAH???"

in book 1 he wanted to be housewarden entirely out of spite, but i feel like after that blew over he wouldn't have wanted to touch the title with a ten foot pole. that's so much work.

so when junior year comes along, people figured he'd just ignore the order-- himself included. but when someone challenges him for the title, ace finds himself unable and very much unwilling to hand it over.

riddle drove him up the wall, but ace respects him as his former housewarden, riddle as a person, and as a respectable mage. if riddle said the next housewarden was gonna be him, it's gonna be him.

Twisted Wonderland ask: Assuming there is a Starbucks equivalent, what are the Housewarden's go-to drink order?

Hello friend! Thank you for the ask!!! Oh dear, ehehehe, it seems my lack of coffee-related knowledge may show here...oops, lol. 😂 I will do my best to answer! (thank goodness for online menus that allow you to look at the recipes!)

Riddle - Grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew; with an extra splash of sweet cream. We know Riddle loves sweet things like tarts and desserts. I think he would enjoy something cool and sweet, and something a little different than his usual drinks. More than likely, it was Trey, Ace, Deuce, and Cater who brought him to the coffee shop, and in an effort to appreciate his friends and fit in with everyone around, I imagine Riddle would have picked something sweet but simple. Sweet because he knows he'll enjoy it and won't offend anyone by not drinking it, and simple because the sheer amount of customization Cater did for his own drink made Riddle's head spin a little. There were no rules for what Cater did. It was a godless, unholy act. Who the hell puts that much syrup in a DRINK. Riddle is doing his best not to be scarred for life.

Leona - Grande Lemonade. It's simple, but that's how Leona likes his drinks. I don't think he'd want to bother with a bunch of fancy things for his order, and I don't think he'd want anything caffeinated...that would get in the way of his precious nap time. And I imagine, with how warm the Savanaclaw dorm is, the lemonade is likely very refreshing.

Azul - Espresso Machiato; 6 shots instead of 4, nonfat milk, with light milk foam. Let's be real, Azul has got Things To Do. He's a full-time student AND running a lounge, plus forming contracts on the side? You expect me to think this boy sleeps? Nah. That's what caffeine is for. He'll get by. And of course, he still has a complex about his weight as a child, so he will order nonfat milk with light milk foam. (my poor boy. someday he will realize it did not mean that much, and that he is more than just his looks.)

Kalim - Grande Hot Chocolate; with 6 pumps of Mocha sauce instead of 4, and extra Mocha drizzle on top. Let's be real, Kalim is a sweetie. And just like him, his drink is extra sweet. He would get a venti but Jamil says no. Can't have him completely spoiling his appetite before dinner!

Vil - Grande Chai Latte; light milk foam, with nonfat milk. I think this would be something Vil would enjoy. Chai has a warm taste that wraps around you, much like a hug, and reminds me of cozy days in. I think it would be a "taste of home" vibe that he would enjoy for times when he is on the road for his acting or modelling. It also still has a bit of caffeine in it, which can help him feel awake and refreshed if he's having a rough morning.

Idia - Espresso Con Panna; 8 shots of espresso instead of 4 and EXTRA whipped cream. This boy has got classes all day and gaming all night. There's no time for sleep. I fully believe Idia has a shirt that says "sleep is for the weak". Anytime he can add more caffeine or sugar to his order, he will. The only reason he stops at 8 shots is because Ortho threatened the life of his computer monitor. And no, I don't mean Ortho threatened to dump water on it or take it away; Idia would find ways around that. No, no. Ortho pulled out a gun and said "drop the espresso or the computer gets it". #giveorthoagun2023

Malleus - Malleus goes to the shop only because Yuu asked him. And of course he orders the Dragon Drink. Dragonfruit and coconut, it's a pretty nice combo. Plus, it's a dragon drink. It was made for him. (Or so he believes. Yuu will not tell him otherwise. It's too cute.) He falls in love with the shop because Yuu lets it slip that they frequent it often and so suddenly Malleus has a Starbucks addiction (somebody help this simping dragon fae) and meets them there regularly to have drinks together.

There you have it! Those are the drinks I think each Housewarden would enjoy. What about you? Let me know what you think! Do we have the same brain? Or are your choices totally different??? Can't wait to hear!

This has been sitting in my Inbox for a bit. I had to really think on it. XD I want to thank @belliesandburps for his help making some suggestions on possible games. I didn't take all of them, but it was good to bounce stuff off of him, and he did help me work out some options. :)

RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS

I don't really see Riddle as being much of a gamer. Indeed, he's such a perfectionist and workaholic that such things practically seem beyond his comprehension. That's a big part of Riddle as a character: he's extremely uptight, due to his upbringing and his own personal ideals and standards, often to a ludicrous and comical degree. Riddle playing video games just doesn't seem like something that would happen. HOWEVER, if I were to pick a specific game or franchise...I'd probably go with, of all things, the "Carmen Sandiego" games. Why, you may ask? Well, first of all, they're edutainment games; if someone can't convince Riddle to play them for their entertainment value, then suggesting them as a teaching tool or something might be a way to sort of weasel him into playing them. Second of all, they are games all about detectives trying to capture a master criminal; Riddle has expressed an interest in a career in law, in the past. And third of all...I think it's funny to imagine Riddle going into "OFF WITH HER HEAD!" mode because Carmen got away again. XD LEONA KINGSCHOLAR

Leona is a chessmaster, both literally and figuratively. Strategy is the name of the game for him; he likes finding ways to manipulate situations or seek out his enemies' weaknesses. He always has a Plan B, and he keeps his cards close to his chest. He's evasive, elusive, and much more intellectual and intelligent than his slothful, gluttonous demeanor would at first indicate. At the same time, Leona is a wild animal; he's ravenous, beastly, aggressive, and somewhat unpredictable. As a result, I think that stealth-action games would probably be his forte: they appeal to him as both a hunter and a strategist, offering him the thrill of the chase and combat, but also opportunities to flex his mind and work out the best way to approach a dangerous situation. I decided to pick "Assassin's Creed" as his game of choice. If I had to choose a specific game from the bunch, I'd go with either the very first game, or perhaps "Origins," simply because I feel like the environments in those games would appeal to him most. Other potential options are "Rogue" (because villain protagonist), and "Black Flag" (because Pirates, and see the Halloween Event). AZUL ASHENGROTTO

This choice might be a bit of a weird one. But I felt Azul needed to have a game a bit different from all the rest. Azul is greed incarnate, basically; he measures everything he does first by how much he can profit from it, and then how much pleasure he can get out of it, usually in that order. This idea is reflected in his hobbies, as well as in the games he plays; like Leona, he is a master strategist and a great chess player. However, while Leona sees things more like a hunter and perhaps as a soldier, Azul sees things more like a businessman or a mob boss: it's less about battle plans and more about economics. Therefore, when it comes to video games, I felt a resource management type game would be a good one for him to use. I chose a little ditty called "Turmoil": if you haven't heard of this game, it's an RM game where you actually play as a prospective oil tycoon int he days of the Wild West. The game has you try to build up your funds, drill for oil, claim stock prices, make bargains with the bank, and so on and so forth. It's all about economics and becoming the richest, biggest businessman you can possibly be. Tell me THAT doesn't sound like an absolutely perfect fit for Azul! ;)

KALIM AL-ASIM

Kalim likes to have fun and is generally a sweetheart. He likes to do things people can do in groups; he likes having a good time with his friends. My first initial instinct was to go with something DDR or Karaoke related, but I decided against it simply because I decided that would work better for another Dorm Leader, and I wanted to keep each of them separate from each other. So, instead, I decided to go with a little game I'm sure you've never heard of called "Mario Kart." A flashy, fast-paced, generally rather innocent kart racing game that you can play with friends sounds like just the ticket for the Baby Otter. He'll be laughing and cheering, even if you throw a shell at him. After all, tis all in good fun. ^^

VIL SCHOENHEIT

Just like Riddle, I don't really see Vil as much of a gamer. However, I DO see him as a performer, because...well...that is very literally what he is. He's an actor, a singer, a dancer, a model, a photographer, a director, a choreographer, a musical maestro, a fashionista...basically, just about everything that can pertain to such things, Vil has the talent and passion for it. So if he's going to play a game, it's going to be something that gives him a chance to strut his stuff and perform. I decided to go with the somewhat obscure title "Dance on Broadway." It's a pretty standard rhythm game for the Nintendo Wii that is most notable because, as the title suggests, it features songs from various stage musicals. The game itself is, by all accounts, sort of "meh" (I've never played it, myself), but it definitely seems like something up Vil's alley. We'll just ignore the fact there's actually a Disney song in the mix. :P

IDIA SHROUD

In the universe of TW, Idia is actually a canon gamer, and his tastes are pretty darn cosmopolitan. He likes a lot of titles, from space shooters to gacha games, and this makes it hard to determine what his actual favorites would be. If I had to choose games from our world, that I'm super familiar with, I feel like online games feel most close to home to what I imagine Idia would enjoy, since he's also a streamer. I decided on two classic titles: "World of Warcraft" and "League of Legends." In the case of the latter...for lack of a better way of putting it, it just feels like something Idia would enjoy. In the case of the former, it is specifically because of the Halloweentime Event for the game which features the Headless Horseman. We all know how Idia feels about "Creepy Hollow" and the "Pumpkin Knight," after all. ;)

MALLEUS DRACONIA

Once again, Malleus I don't see as a gamer, for probably very obvious reasons. But I think that if he were to play games, he'd want to have something he can play alone OR play with friends, given his issues in the story of TW. He'd want to have the option. He'd also want something he can understand pretty easily and can get a hand of quickly, so to speak. And he'd also want something that appeals to his rather Gothic sense of style. Putting it all together, I chose a specific title from one of my favorite franchises, "Castlevania." Namely, the game "Portrait of Ruin." Putting side my own bias towards the game (it's one of my favorites from the series), the fact you can either play it on its own or connect with other plays for co-op, and is available on a portable platform, makes it quite ideal for our favorite dark prince, in my opinion. The imagine of himself and the Prefect working together to take down Dracula and the Grim Reaper in the final boss battle (one of the BEST BOSS BATTLES EVAH!!!) is just a mental image that makes me grin.
